"I don't know." 00:11:35.41\00:11:38.60 "What about Jesus? Who was He? 00:11:38.63\00:11:40.66 Was He really a Son of God or was He just a man?" 00:11:40.69\00:11:44.74 Well, they got into this deep discussion 00:11:44.77\00:11:47.21 it wasn't long before they both discovered 00:11:47.24\00:11:49.69 that they really did not know much about the subject anyway. 00:11:49.72\00:11:52.54 Lew Wallace, however, being the Christian felt bad 00:11:55.94\00:12:02.26 that he did not have an appropriate answer 00:12:02.29\00:12:05.84 to his friend. 00:12:05.87\00:12:07.89 And so after he became the governor of New Mexico, 00:12:07.92\00:12:13.65 Lew Wallace who later became General Wallace 00:12:16.77\00:12:19.95 and governor of New Mexico 00:12:19.98\00:12:22.85 wrote the book entitled "Ben-Hur." 00:12:22.88\00:12:28.47 How many of you have heard about the book 00:12:28.50\00:12:31.28 or have seen the film "Ben-Hur?" 00:12:31.31\00:12:33.37 Can I see your hands? 00:12:33.40\00:12:35.65 He wrote it as an answer to his skeptic friend 00:12:35.68\00:12:38.95 as to who Lew Wallace believed Jesus was. 00:12:38.98\00:12:42.62 The question then is who was Jesus and what was He all about. 00:12:47.98\00:12:55.91 The subject of Christ is something 00:12:55.94\00:12:57.57 that has surfaced in our recent days, 00:12:57.60\00:13:02.48 many are talking about Jesus, 00:13:02.51\00:13:03.97 who He is, what He was, et cetera. 00:13:04.00\00:13:06.99 The latest fling is that which is the Da Vinci Code. 00:13:07.02\00:13:10.99 How many of you acquainted with the Da Vinci Code, 00:13:11.02\00:13:13.11 you heard about it, et cetera? 00:13:13.14\00:13:15.43 A lot of curiosity concerning Christ 00:13:15.46\00:13:19.00 and unfortunately most people have 00:13:19.03\00:13:22.06 a lot of lack of knowledge concerning it 00:13:22.09\00:13:24.93 and so consequently they make statements 00:13:24.96\00:13:27.40 that really are not supported by the scriptures 00:13:27.43\00:13:31.95 and of course people who do not know the scriptures 00:13:31.98\00:13:34.68 do not realize that there are a lot of misconceptions 00:13:34.71\00:13:38.29 that supposedly come from the Bible, 00:13:38.32\00:13:40.91 but actually it doesn't. 00:13:40.94\00:13:42.62 For example, I had a lady one time 00:13:42.65\00:13:44.53 who came to me and said, "Pastor, 00:13:44.56\00:13:46.60 where in the Bible do you find the text 00:13:46.63\00:13:48.99 that says a whistling woman and a crowing hen 00:13:49.02\00:13:53.95 is an abomination to the Lord?" 00:13:53.98\00:13:55.53 I looked at her and I said, "Nowhere, madam." 00:14:03.93\00:14:09.38 It doesn't exist. 00:14:09.41\00:14:11.74 But people have notions, they think 00:14:11.77\00:14:14.54 that the Bible says this, the Bible says that, 00:14:14.57\00:14:16.66 they hear this and they hear that 00:14:16.69\00:14:18.37 but in reality they really don't know, what? 00:14:18.40\00:14:21.35 They don't know the scriptures. 00:14:21.38\00:14:23.20 And so tonight I think it's important for us 00:14:23.23\00:14:27.54 to study the scriptures, what do you say? 00:14:27.57\00:14:30.96 There are all sorts of human interpretations, 00:14:30.99\00:14:33.81 but I think as we look at the scriptures tonight, 00:14:33.84\00:14:36.83 we may find the answer through the scriptures. 00:14:36.86\00:14:39.67 First of all I want you to know 00:14:39.70\00:14:41.14 that the Bible is written with the intent of revealing 00:14:41.17\00:14:43.68 who Jesus is and there are several things 00:14:43.71\00:14:45.58 that we should consider tonight. 00:14:45.61\00:14:47.09 Number one, Jesus the greatest character of all the ages. 00:14:47.12\00:14:52.87 What does the Bible say and of course, 00:14:52.90\00:14:55.63 what does human experience say about Jesus Christ? 00:14:55.66\00:14:59.36 Let's consider tonight, 00:14:59.39\00:15:01.28 our beginning in that wonderful book, 00:15:01.31\00:15:03.39 the Book of Revelation 1:1. 00:15:03.42\00:15:06.19 You remember that it starts 00:15:06.22\00:15:09.63 with the words "The Revelation" of whom? 00:15:09.66\00:15:13.14 "Of Jesus Christ." 00:15:13.17\00:15:14.92 Notice that it begins with the word 00:15:14.95\00:15:16.86 "The Revelation of Jesus Christ" 00:15:16.89\00:15:19.12 because the intent of the Bible 00:15:19.15\00:15:21.83 and the Book of Revelation 00:15:21.86\00:15:23.15 is to reveal who Jesus really is, 00:15:23.18\00:15:25.41 that's why the word the Revelation of Christ. 00:15:25.44\00:15:28.46 Some people think that the word revelation 00:15:28.49\00:15:30.54 had some mystical meaning. 00:15:30.57\00:15:32.20 No, it doesn't have any mystical meaning, 00:15:32.23\00:15:34.85 on the contrast, the opposite, 00:15:34.88\00:15:36.81 the word revelation simply means reveal, means what? 00:15:36.84\00:15:41.58 Reveal, that's all it means and it is given to us to unveil, 00:15:41.61\00:15:45.96 to make clear, to unwrap as it were, 00:15:45.99\00:15:49.63 the mysteries that people have about 00:15:49.66\00:15:52.18 or the ideas that people have about who Jesus really is. 00:15:52.21\00:15:56.94 The Bible was written about Jesus 00:15:56.97\00:16:00.54 and that's why in the Book of Revelation 1:8, 00:16:00.57\00:16:06.50 He claims Himself to be the, what? 00:16:06.53\00:16:08.87 The Alpha and the what? 00:16:08.90\00:16:10.92 The Omega, the beginning and what? 00:16:10.95\00:16:13.62 The end, which is, which was, and which is to what? 00:16:13.65\00:16:18.49 To come the Almighty. 00:16:18.52\00:16:20.70 So notice that Jesus claims Himself 00:16:20.73\00:16:23.61 to be the Alpha and the Omega. 00:16:23.64\00:16:25.81 And for those of you who may not be aware Alpha 00:16:25.84\00:16:28.69 is the first letter of the Greek alphabet 00:16:28.72\00:16:30.22 and Omega is the last letter of the Greek alphabet. 00:16:30.25\00:16:33.59 But He says more than that. 00:16:33.62\00:16:35.22 He says I am the beginning and what? 00:16:35.25\00:16:37.94 The end. 00:16:37.97\00:16:39.00 Now you may not have caught what that signifies 00:16:39.03\00:16:43.21 but tonight I hope you do as we consider that. 00:16:43.24\00:16:45.89 Notice it says, I am the what? 00:16:45.92\00:16:47.69 The beginning and what else? 00:16:47.72\00:16:49.35 The end. 00:16:49.38\00:16:50.52 Now the entire Bible then is about Jesus. 00:16:50.55\00:16:55.94 How much of the Bible? The entire Bible. 00:16:55.97\00:16:58.56 Now that may surprise you. 00:16:58.59\00:16:59.85 It may surprise you 00:16:59.88\00:17:00.91 because you hear a lot of preachers say 00:17:00.94\00:17:02.75 that the Old Testament was about the Father 00:17:02.78\00:17:04.95 and the New Testament was about the Son. 00:17:04.98\00:17:08.41 How many of you have heard that? 00:17:08.44\00:17:09.47 Any of you? 00:17:09.50\00:17:10.53 Yes, but in reality the entire Bible is to reveal Jesus. 00:17:10.56\00:17:16.78 And of course if it reveals Jesus, 00:17:16.81\00:17:18.81 Jesus said He that hath seen Me hath seen whom? 00:17:18.84\00:17:21.98 The Father. 00:17:22.01\00:17:23.09 So the purpose of the scriptures is to ultimately reveal 00:17:23.12\00:17:26.47 who the Father is but it reveals 00:17:26.50\00:17:28.18 who the Father is through the Son 00:17:28.21\00:17:29.96 and the reason for that is that 00:17:29.99\00:17:31.45 the Bible says no man has seen the Father. 00:17:31.48\00:17:34.32 So in order for you to get a clear picture 00:17:34.35\00:17:36.21 as to what the Father and who the Father is, 00:17:36.24\00:17:38.43 we have to have something 00:17:38.46\00:17:39.49 that we can touch and feel and understand. 00:17:39.52\00:17:41.66 What do you say? 00:17:41.69\00:17:43.15 And so God then sent His Son to be with us. 00:17:43.18\00:17:47.83 Now when Jesus was on earth one other things He tried to do 00:17:47.86\00:17:51.31 is try to convince the people in His day 00:17:51.34\00:17:53.38 that He was who He claimed to be. 00:17:53.41\00:17:55.51 And so He tried to do that also by prophecy. 00:17:55.54\00:18:00.34 By what? Prophecy. 00:18:00.37\00:18:04.19 Now consider this, look at what Jesus says 00:18:04.22\00:18:06.75 in the Book of John 14:29. 00:18:06.78\00:18:08.99 If you have your Bibles John 14:29 00:18:09.02\00:18:11.83 notice it says "And now I have," what? 00:18:11.86\00:18:14.98 "Told you before it," what? 00:18:15.01\00:18:16.93 Come to pass, "that when it does come to pass, you may believe." 00:18:16.96\00:18:21.90 Remember I quoted that earlier today, remember that. 00:18:21.93\00:18:25.47 So the reason for the prophecy is to enable us to believe. 00:18:25.50\00:18:31.79 Now, one time I was in Switzerland 00:18:31.82\00:18:35.86 studying with a young man 00:18:35.89\00:18:37.42 and I site visited with him, he immediately said to me, 00:18:37.45\00:18:41.27 look, "I am a New Testament Christian." 00:18:41.30\00:18:43.84 I said I'm glad to hear that. 00:18:43.87\00:18:45.72 He said that, "I don't believe 00:18:45.75\00:18:47.70 that the Old Testament is for us any longer." 00:18:47.73\00:18:49.89 I said, "Whoa, why do you believe that?" 00:18:49.92\00:18:52.18 "Well, because I've been told 00:18:52.21\00:18:53.65 that the Old Testament was for the Jews 00:18:53.68\00:18:55.41 and the New Testament is for the Christians." 00:18:55.44\00:18:57.37 I said well, that's interesting. 00:18:57.40\00:19:00.38 Would you turn with me in the Bible? 00:19:00.41\00:19:01.93 I asked him and see what Jesus says about that. 00:19:01.96\00:19:05.45 Oh, he said, "Well, if Jesus said that, 00:19:05.48\00:19:06.97 I would be interested in finding out." 00:19:07.00\00:19:08.71 I said, well, then let's turn to the Bible 00:19:08.74\00:19:10.53 and see what Jesus says about the Old Testament. 00:19:10.56\00:19:13.48 So we turned to the Book of Luke Chapter 24. 00:19:13.51\00:19:18.62 Notice Luke Chapter 24. 00:19:18.65\00:19:20.77 Luke 24 is written about 00:19:20.80\00:19:24.16 the after the resurrection experience. 00:19:24.19\00:19:26.52 In other words, Jesus resurrects and in Luke 24:1 it says 00:19:26.55\00:19:32.11 now upon the first day of the week, 00:19:32.14\00:19:33.74 very early in the morning, 00:19:33.77\00:19:34.98 the ladies went with the ointment 00:19:35.01\00:19:36.90 to find Jesus and they found Him not, you remember that. 00:19:36.93\00:19:40.32 And then it speaks about the two men on the way to Emmaus 00:19:40.35\00:19:43.80 and Jesus shows up and walks with them, 00:19:43.83\00:19:47.31 they don't know who He is 00:19:47.34\00:19:48.47 and finally when He arrives at their home, 00:19:48.50\00:19:51.11 they ask Him to pray, He prays and as He prays, 00:19:51.14\00:19:53.29 they recognized Him and He disappears 00:19:53.32\00:19:56.77 and they run back to Jerusalem 00:19:56.80\00:19:58.86 to tell the good news that the Lord-- 00:19:58.89\00:20:00.83 they have seen the Lord. 00:20:00.86\00:20:01.89 You remember that all right. 00:20:01.92\00:20:03.74 But notice then, on the way, on the what? 00:20:03.77\00:20:07.63 On the way they're disturbed, they're upset 00:20:07.66\00:20:11.90 because they believe that Jesus was the Messiah, 00:20:11.93\00:20:15.86 but He's been killed 00:20:15.89\00:20:17.47 and they don't know that He's resurrected 00:20:17.50\00:20:19.94 and so they're really upset 00:20:19.97\00:20:21.55 and when Jesus appears and walks with them, 00:20:21.58\00:20:24.47 they're so upset they don' t recognize who He is, 00:20:24.50\00:20:27.22 they think He's a stranger. 00:20:27.25\00:20:29.42 And so Jesus says then what to them? 00:20:29.45\00:20:31.81 After they tell Him, 00:20:31.84\00:20:33.26 Jesus what's going on why are you so upset? 00:20:33.29\00:20:35.33 Well, because we thought that it would be He. 00:20:35.36\00:20:38.03 Then He said unto them, what's the next two words? 00:20:42.56\00:20:45.74 "O fools," and what? 00:20:45.77\00:20:48.21 "Slow to here-- "and slow of heart" 00:20:48.24\00:20:50.94 pardon me, "to believe" all that the, what? 00:20:50.97\00:20:53.26 "The prophets have spoken, 00:20:53.29\00:20:54.65 Ought not Christ to have suffered 00:20:54.68\00:20:56.92 these things," and to what? 00:20:56.95\00:20:59.60 "Enter into his glory?" 00:20:59.63\00:21:01.80 Notice then what the next portion says, notice. 00:21:01.83\00:21:07.73 And beginning, where? At Moses and where else? 00:21:07.76\00:21:11.91 And all the prophets, he expounded unto them 00:21:11.94\00:21:14.48 and how much of the scriptures? 00:21:14.51\00:21:16.10 All the scriptures the things concerning what? 00:21:16.13\00:21:20.49 Himself. 00:21:20.52\00:21:21.55 So I asked that young man, "What did Jesus call people 00:21:21.58\00:21:24.12 who don't believe in the Old Testament?" 00:21:24.15\00:21:27.34 O fools. 00:21:27.37\00:21:29.71 And I said to him then "Do you want to be one?" 00:21:29.74\00:21:33.16 "Oh, no" he said. 00:21:33.19\00:21:34.22 Now, folks, Jesus said himself o fools, 00:21:37.44\00:21:42.74 and slow of heart to believe all that the, what? 00:21:42.77\00:21:47.07 That the prophets have said concerning Him 00:21:47.10\00:21:49.70 and so then He begins where? 00:21:49.73\00:21:51.35 Now notice where He begins Moses, now why do it says Moses? 00:21:51.38\00:21:56.09 In the German language, 00:21:56.12\00:22:00.72 the books that they have of Moses 00:22:00.75\00:22:03.31 they called First Moses, Second Moses, 00:22:03.34\00:22:05.66 Third Moses, Fourth Moses, Fifth Moses. 00:22:05.69\00:22:08.22 Did you know that? Yeah. 00:22:08.25\00:22:10.65 If you go to Germany and you say the Book of Deuteronomy, 00:22:10.68\00:22:13.19 they don't know what that is. 00:22:13.22\00:22:15.85 But if you say the Fifth Book of Moses 00:22:15.88\00:22:18.62 or the Fourth Book of Moses or the Third Book of Moses, 00:22:18.65\00:22:21.24 yeah, they know what book you're talking about. 00:22:21.27\00:22:23.34 Okay? 00:22:23.37\00:22:24.40 So the Books of Moses are the first five books 00:22:24.43\00:22:26.87 of the Bible beginning with Genesis, okay? 00:22:26.90\00:22:31.74 And so where did Jesus began to talk about Himself? 00:22:31.77\00:22:35.99 In the Books of Moses. 00:22:36.02\00:22:37.58 Think about it, friends, think about it. 00:22:37.61\00:22:40.21 And think about how many people are doing 00:22:40.24\00:22:42.97 away with Jesus by doing away with the Old Testament. 00:22:43.00\00:22:46.66 Because without the Old Testament, 00:22:46.69\00:22:48.51 you cannot determine who the Messiah is. 00:22:48.54\00:22:52.19 What did I say? Without the what? 00:22:52.22\00:22:55.42 The Old Testament, you cannot determine who the Messiah is. 00:22:55.45\00:23:00.27 And the reason why God gave prophecies 00:23:00.30\00:23:03.15 in the Old Testament of Jesus was to make sure 00:23:03.18\00:23:06.74 that no one could counterfeit who the Messiah would be. 00:23:06.77\00:23:13.96 Now you may say how is that? 00:23:13.99\00:23:15.96 Because God predicted many things concerning the Messiah 00:23:15.99\00:23:19.28 that only the Messiah could satisfy. 00:23:19.31\00:23:21.70 Only who? The Messiah could satisfy. 00:23:21.73\00:23:25.01 So even though there might have been 00:23:25.04\00:23:26.98 many messiahs that would come up and by the way, 00:23:27.01\00:23:30.04 Barabbas claimed himself to be a messiah. 00:23:30.07\00:23:36.49 He revolted against the Romans, 00:23:36.52\00:23:37.91 he was caught with some of his friends 00:23:37.94\00:23:39.70 and of course that's why two of his friends 00:23:39.73\00:23:42.06 were nailed to the cross, one on one side, 00:23:42.09\00:23:43.88 one on the other side of Christ. 00:23:43.91\00:23:46.24 Barabbas was set free because the people of that day 00:23:46.27\00:23:49.35 unfortunately chose Barabbas rather than choosing Jesus. 00:23:49.38\00:23:56.15 But if you had known the scriptures, 00:23:56.18\00:23:57.99 if they had believed the scriptures, 00:23:58.02\00:23:59.92 they would have never chosen Barabbas, 00:23:59.95\00:24:01.70 they would have chosen the true Messiah, why? 00:24:01.73\00:24:03.88 Because there are definite evidences, 00:24:03.91\00:24:08.65 prophetic statements that only Jesus would satisfy. 00:24:08.68\00:24:12.61 Now Jesus is found in all the Bible, 00:24:12.64\00:24:14.11 I already told you that 00:24:14.14\00:24:15.27 and the fact that he says that he began in Moses, 00:24:15.30\00:24:18.97 we then should be able to find Christ in Moses. 00:24:19.00\00:24:21.46 What do you say? 00:24:21.49\00:24:22.60 But where do you find Christ in Moses? 00:24:22.63\00:24:25.11 Well, let's look at Genesis 1:1. 00:24:25.14\00:24:28.41 Genesis 1:1 begins with the words, 00:24:28.44\00:24:30.64 what are the words there? In the what? 00:24:30.67\00:24:32.84 In the beginning. In the beginning what? 00:24:32.87\00:24:34.98 God created the heavens and the earth, okay. 00:24:35.01\00:24:37.38 Now notice it says in the beginning, 00:24:37.41\00:24:40.26 remember those words. 00:24:40.29\00:24:41.36 Now turn with me to the Bible in the New Testament 00:24:41.39\00:24:44.25 in the Book of John, Book of John Chapter 1. 00:24:44.28\00:24:48.10 Notice what it says in the Book of John Chapter 1. 00:24:48.13\00:24:50.81 How does it start? In the beginning. 00:24:50.84\00:24:53.09 Now let me ask you a question, is that the same word? 00:24:53.12\00:24:55.98 In the what? In the beginning? 00:24:56.01\00:24:58.48 Notice, what did it say? In the beginning, you see that. 00:24:58.51\00:25:04.26 So in what beginning? 00:25:04.29\00:25:08.70 The beginning of the world, okay. 00:25:08.73\00:25:11.44 In the -- In John it says, "In the beginning was the Word, 00:25:11.47\00:25:16.62 and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." 00:25:16.65\00:25:21.63 Now notice it says "The same was in the beginning with God." 00:25:21.66\00:25:24.92 Now remember it says in the beginning God created, 00:25:24.95\00:25:28.43 notice the next words, All things were... 00:25:28.46\00:25:32.02 what's another word for made? Created. 00:25:32.05\00:25:33.92 "All things were created by Him," by who? 00:25:33.95\00:25:37.26 Who's the Him? God. 00:25:37.29\00:25:38.32 Was the Word. 00:25:38.35\00:25:40.47 The whole subject here is dealing with who the Word is. 00:25:40.50\00:25:45.93 Is that true? 00:25:45.96\00:25:47.73 Yes or no? Yes. 00:25:47.76\00:25:48.91 So "In the beginning was the Word, 00:25:48.94\00:25:51.16 the Word was with God, the Word was God. 00:25:51.19\00:25:53.91 The same was in the beginning with God. 00:25:53.94\00:25:55.72 All things were made by the Word 00:25:55.75\00:26:00.75 and without the Word was not anything made that was made." 00:26:00.78\00:26:05.12 Okay. 00:26:05.15\00:26:06.18 Who was this word? Well, and the Word became what? 00:26:06.21\00:26:11.42 "And dwelt among us, and we beheld the glory 00:26:11.45\00:26:14.09 of the only begotten of the Father." 00:26:14.12\00:26:16.60 Think of this, how many of you remember John 3:16? 00:26:16.63\00:26:20.71 For God so loved the world, that He what? 00:26:20.74\00:26:23.09 Gave His what? Only begotten. 00:26:23.12\00:26:25.01 So well, who is the only begotten then? 00:26:25.04\00:26:29.60 The word or Jesus. 00:26:29.63\00:26:32.49 So who was in the beginning in creation? 00:26:32.52\00:26:35.50 Jesus. 00:26:35.53\00:26:37.35 And that comes as a shock to many Christians, 00:26:37.38\00:26:41.32 it comes as shock to many Christians. 00:26:41.35\00:26:43.56 How many of you have seen the film "The Passion?" 00:26:43.59\00:26:48.07 In the film of The Passion, 00:26:48.10\00:26:50.66 the Australian tried to focus 00:26:50.69\00:26:53.59 on the physical sufferings of the Christ 00:26:53.62\00:26:56.37 and made them very graphic 00:26:56.40\00:26:58.77 to the point that people wept 00:26:58.80\00:27:00.43 as they saw the suffering of Christ. 00:27:00.46\00:27:05.07 And not to the diminish from what He was attempting to do, 00:27:05.10\00:27:08.98 however, sadly 00:27:09.01\00:27:10.04 the sufferings of Christ was not-- 00:27:13.97\00:27:19.18 the physical suffering of Christ was not 00:27:19.21\00:27:20.39 what the Bible thought to heightened. 00:27:20.42\00:27:22.96 Because a lot of people believed that Jesus was a mere man 00:27:22.99\00:27:26.65 who just appeared on planet earth at that time. 00:27:26.68\00:27:30.27 And as a man God chose him to pay the penalty for us. 00:27:30.30\00:27:38.03 And so the focus then is on the physical pain of Christ. 00:27:38.06\00:27:42.56 But let me explain this to you. 00:27:42.59\00:27:45.53 If you now understand that Christ was the Creator 00:27:45.56\00:27:49.82 and by the way in Colossians 1:17 00:27:49.85\00:27:52.99 and on you'll find that it says "Christ is the Creator." 00:27:53.02\00:27:55.79 In the Book of Hebrews it says 00:27:55.82\00:27:56.99 "that Christ is Creator," Hebrew 1. 00:27:57.02\00:27:59.24 And so the scripture reveals 00:27:59.27\00:28:00.76 then that Christ was the agent of creation, 00:28:00.79\00:28:03.33 he was what? 00:28:03.36\00:28:04.59 He was the agent of the creation, 00:28:04.62\00:28:05.70 in fact, if you look at Genesis 1:26, 00:28:05.73\00:28:09.22 it says "And God said let us make man in our image." 00:28:09.25\00:28:15.35 Which perfectly harmonizes the John 1:1. 00:28:15.38\00:28:18.62 In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God. 00:28:18.65\00:28:22.20 Obviously, that was more than one present at creation, 00:28:22.23\00:28:25.18 what do you say? 00:28:25.21\00:28:26.39 Can you see that yes or no? 00:28:26.42\00:28:28.02 And so it says then that this Word 00:28:28.05\00:28:32.25 later on who was the Creator became what, 00:28:32.28\00:28:35.51 flesh and dwelt among us. Now think of it. 00:28:35.54\00:28:39.18 Now, we understand it was not just a mere human being 00:28:39.21\00:28:41.92 that was suffering from us 00:28:41.95\00:28:43.34 it was the divine being who was suffering from us. 00:28:43.37\00:28:47.75 It was the what? 00:28:47.78\00:28:49.05 A divine being who is suffering for us. 00:28:49.08\00:28:52.18 And what brought to Him the greatest pain 00:28:52.21\00:28:54.78 was not the physical suffering because if the only thing that, 00:28:54.81\00:28:58.16 that the whole passion of Christ was the physical suffering 00:28:58.19\00:29:02.92 then my friends, I have to tell you that, 00:29:02.95\00:29:05.02 that there are other people who have suffered worse 00:29:05.05\00:29:07.26 than being crucified on the cross. 00:29:07.29\00:29:11.40 I have heard of people who actually have been 00:29:11.43\00:29:13.44 torn apart chunk by chunk 00:29:13.47\00:29:16.13 with a pair of pincers or pliers. 00:29:16.16\00:29:18.34 The skin taken up bit by bit, 00:29:18.37\00:29:20.35 bit by bit until finally the all the flesh 00:29:20.38\00:29:23.64 from head to toe were removed. 00:29:23.67\00:29:25.43 In other words, friends, what I'm telling you is this, 00:29:29.06\00:29:32.58 that Christ suffered superhuman agony. 00:29:32.61\00:29:38.43 And the super human agony 00:29:38.46\00:29:40.14 that He suffered was that He felt 00:29:40.17\00:29:43.16 that the sins of the world 00:29:43.19\00:29:44.99 were separating Him from His Father 00:29:45.02\00:29:47.31 and that broke His heart. 00:29:47.34\00:29:52.39 And when you understand that it was the divine being 00:29:52.42\00:29:55.86 who came and took my place and your place, 00:29:55.89\00:29:59.13 it should create in us a greater gratitude 00:29:59.16\00:30:03.34 for what God has done for us. 00:30:03.37\00:30:04.85 What do you say? 00:30:04.88\00:30:06.44 If just a mere of suffering of Christ 00:30:06.47\00:30:08.80 brought pain and agony to your heart 00:30:08.83\00:30:11.31 think then how much higher the sacrifice was. 00:30:11.34\00:30:17.02 It was a divine being taking the risk 00:30:17.05\00:30:20.74 of being separated from heaven forever 00:30:20.77\00:30:25.35 to save you and to save me. 00:30:25.38\00:30:28.10 I would say hallelujah to that. What do you say? 00:30:28.13\00:30:30.81 Praise God. 00:30:30.84\00:30:31.96 And listen, we find then that the Jesus is in the first verse, 00:30:31.99\00:30:37.13 the first chapter, the first book of the Bible. 00:30:37.16\00:30:40.12 Do you see that? 00:30:40.15\00:30:41.27 He is where, in the beginning? 00:30:41.30\00:30:43.38 What do you say? 00:30:43.41\00:30:45.17 What do you say? Amen. 00:30:45.20\00:30:46.55 All right, He is on the first chapter 00:30:46.58\00:30:48.09 the first verse of first book of the Old Testament. 00:30:48.12\00:30:51.56 Well, that's interesting, 00:30:51.59\00:30:53.72 what, what was this Jesus notice let's rephrase it. 00:30:53.75\00:30:58.56 "In the beginning was" who? 00:30:58.59\00:31:00.53 "Jesus, and Jesus was with God and Jesus was God." 00:31:00.56\00:31:05.47 In other words it's saying that 00:31:05.50\00:31:07.25 just as the father so is the son. 00:31:07.28\00:31:09.69 The son has to, the godly attribute 00:31:09.72\00:31:12.28 is just like the father has the godly attributes, okay. 00:31:12.31\00:31:15.20 So now we find that Jesus is there 00:31:15.23\00:31:17.81 but what about the New Testament. 00:31:17.84\00:31:20.59 You will be surprised to discover 00:31:20.62\00:31:21.97 that Jesus is in the first verse, 00:31:22.00\00:31:23.40 the first chapter, the first book of New Testament. 00:31:23.43\00:31:25.87 Look at the book of Matthew 1:1, 00:31:25.90\00:31:28.93 notice what it says. 00:31:28.96\00:31:29.99 "The book of the generation of" whom? 00:31:30.02\00:31:33.14 "Of Jesus Christ." 00:31:33.17\00:31:34.48 So He is in the first verse, of first chapter, 00:31:34.51\00:31:36.74 the first book of the New Testament. 00:31:36.77\00:31:39.12 And guess what He is also the last verse, 00:31:39.15\00:31:44.33 the last chapter, 00:31:44.36\00:31:45.59 the last book of the New Testament. 00:31:45.62\00:31:48.21 Notice what it says, in the Book of Revelation. 00:31:48.24\00:31:50.87 This is the last verse, verse 21. 00:31:50.90\00:31:53.51 "The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ 00:31:53.54\00:31:55.70 be with you all" How much? "Amen." 00:31:55.73\00:31:57.94 "Amen." Okay. 00:31:57.97\00:31:59.83 And notice then, 00:31:59.86\00:32:01.02 we find Jesus in the first verse, 00:32:01.05\00:32:03.26 the first book, 00:32:03.29\00:32:04.32 the first chapter of the Old Testament. 00:32:04.35\00:32:06.76 We find them in the first verse, the first book, 00:32:06.79\00:32:09.15 the first chapter of the New Testament 00:32:09.18\00:32:11.46 and we find them in the last verse, 00:32:11.49\00:32:13.98 of the last book, 00:32:14.01\00:32:15.18 in the last chapter of the New Testament. 00:32:15.21\00:32:17.68 Can you understand now why it says, 00:32:17.71\00:32:19.51 "I'm the beginning and the end." 00:32:19.54\00:32:22.92 I'm the first and the last. 00:32:26.99\00:32:30.64 I'm the Alpha and the Omega. 00:32:30.67\00:32:35.28 Isn't that wonderful? 00:32:35.31\00:32:37.82 But listen, we just begun. 00:32:37.85\00:32:43.19 Jesus says Moses wrote of Me. 00:32:43.22\00:32:49.72 And the question is, where did Moses write of Him? 00:32:49.75\00:32:51.96 First of all, we already see 00:32:51.99\00:32:53.41 that he wrote in the first chapter there. 00:32:53.44\00:32:55.63 But when the Lord was speaking to Abraham 00:32:55.66\00:32:59.57 the Lord said to Abraham "And in thy seed 00:32:59.60\00:33:03.25 shall all the nations of the earth be" what? 00:33:03.28\00:33:05.98 "Be blessed." 00:33:06.01\00:33:07.04 Now, notice it says "And in thy" what, "seed." 00:33:07.07\00:33:11.54 Genesis 22:18. 00:33:11.57\00:33:14.00 I want you to understand that the Lord speaking to Moses 00:33:14.03\00:33:18.27 was not speaking about Isaac nor about Jacob 00:33:18.30\00:33:22.05 nor about the Jews. 00:33:22.08\00:33:24.93 By the way I should tell you I have Jewish relatives 00:33:24.96\00:33:29.32 but in spite of the fact that I have Jewish relatives 00:33:29.35\00:33:32.52 I know from the Bible that God was not speaking 00:33:32.55\00:33:35.72 about the seed as of Isaac and Jacob. 00:33:35.75\00:33:38.93 I want you to see a New Testament commentary 00:33:38.96\00:33:41.47 on this passage in the Book of Galatians 3:16. 00:33:41.50\00:33:45.86 Notice what Paul writes it says 00:33:45.89\00:33:48.53 "Now to Abraham and" to what? 00:33:48.56\00:33:51.54 "To his seed were the promises made." 00:33:51.57\00:33:53.91 Now notice it says "He saith not, and to" what? 00:33:53.94\00:33:57.53 "Seeds or as of many" a plural 00:33:57.56\00:34:00.36 because Abraham had more than one child, 00:34:00.39\00:34:02.36 do you know that? 00:34:02.39\00:34:03.72 How many of you know that? 00:34:03.75\00:34:05.11 And he's still fighting today isn't true. 00:34:05.14\00:34:07.46 Yes and so not in seeds but in seed 00:34:07.49\00:34:13.71 "And to thy seed which is" what? "Christ." 00:34:13.74\00:34:16.88 There is an apostolic commentary on the Book of Genesis. 00:34:16.91\00:34:22.36 God was not speaking about Isaac, 00:34:22.39\00:34:24.44 God was speaking about whom? 00:34:24.47\00:34:27.10 Christ. 00:34:27.13\00:34:28.16 Let me ask you a question, 00:34:28.19\00:34:29.61 has the world and all nations been blessed because of Christ? 00:34:29.64\00:34:34.31 What's the answer? Yes. Yes. 00:34:34.34\00:34:39.24 Moses indeed wrote about Christ. 00:34:39.27\00:34:44.67 Now, I should now help you to understand several things 00:34:44.70\00:34:49.20 there are prophecies in the Old Testament 00:34:49.23\00:34:51.74 as I mentioned before that help us to pinpoint 00:34:51.77\00:34:55.91 and to identify who the Messiah is. 00:34:55.94\00:34:58.23 In fact there are 48 prophecies, how many? 00:34:58.26\00:35:01.08 Forty eight prophecies that point to the Messiah. 00:35:01.11\00:35:03.98 Now, I want to show you several prophecies 00:35:04.01\00:35:07.66 and when you leave tonight you should receive 00:35:07.69\00:35:11.19 an outline of all the prophecies 00:35:11.22\00:35:14.01 because I don't have enough time tonight to give you 00:35:14.04\00:35:16.08 all the 48 prophecies and their fulfillment 00:35:16.11\00:35:18.43 but you can read them when you go home. 00:35:18.46\00:35:20.03 How many of you would like a copy of that? 00:35:20.06\00:35:21.50 Okay, don't forget to pick them up. 00:35:21.53\00:35:24.25 Now, let's go through some of them 00:35:24.28\00:35:26.75 and you will see the amazing thing about prophecy and Christ. 00:35:26.78\00:35:33.12 First of all, Christ was the one 00:35:33.15\00:35:37.59 who inspired the Bible through the Holy Spirit. 00:35:37.62\00:35:41.24 And the prophecy is given about Him 00:35:41.27\00:35:44.46 were predicted some of 1,000 years before He came 00:35:44.49\00:35:47.13 some 500 years before He came. 00:35:47.16\00:35:49.93 Many wonderful prophecies that came. 00:35:49.96\00:35:54.12 Now, let's look at some of them for example, 00:35:54.15\00:35:57.33 look at the Book of Psalms. 00:35:57.36\00:36:01.66 In the Book of Psalms 00:36:01.69\00:36:04.43 you'll find several statements. 00:36:04.46\00:36:09.61 Notice first of all it speaks about His betrayal. 00:36:09.64\00:36:13.28 It speaks about what? His betrayal. 00:36:13.31\00:36:16.46 Notice it says "Yea, mine own" what? 00:36:16.49\00:36:19.67 "Familiar friend in whom I trusted 00:36:19.70\00:36:22.39 which did eat of my bread, 00:36:22.42\00:36:24.80 hath lifted up his heel against" whom? "Against me." 00:36:24.83\00:36:27.72 Now notice it says my own familiar what? Friend. 00:36:27.75\00:36:31.26 My own familiar friend, 00:36:31.29\00:36:33.50 that was predicted a thousand years before Christ. 00:36:33.53\00:36:36.46 The Bible reveals then 00:36:36.49\00:36:37.77 that somebody would betray the Messiah 00:36:37.80\00:36:40.15 but that somebody was a friend, a what? A friend. 00:36:40.18\00:36:44.15 Now let's go to the New Testament 00:36:44.18\00:36:45.80 and see the fulfillment. 00:36:45.83\00:36:47.17 You remember Judas came to Christ by night 00:36:47.20\00:36:49.57 and he brought with him 00:36:49.60\00:36:51.21 a group of people to arrest Christ. 00:36:51.24\00:36:53.14 You will find that in Matthew 26:48-50. 00:36:53.17\00:36:56.72 "And forthwith he came to Jesus 00:36:56.75\00:36:59.28 and said Hail, master and kissed him 00:36:59.31\00:37:02.14 and Jesus said unto him" what's the next word? 00:37:02.17\00:37:05.20 "Friend wherefore art though come?" 00:37:05.23\00:37:09.26 Did a friend betray the Messiah yes or no? 00:37:09.29\00:37:12.41 Yes. 00:37:12.44\00:37:13.47 If a friend had not betrayed the Messiah 00:37:13.50\00:37:15.68 then he could not have been the Messiah. 00:37:15.71\00:37:17.80 It had to be a friend that betrayed Him. 00:37:17.83\00:37:20.97 Now, let's notice then some other prophecies 00:37:21.00\00:37:25.35 in the Old Testament concerning the betrayal, 00:37:25.38\00:37:28.63 I mean concerning Christ and the actual betrayal 00:37:28.66\00:37:32.38 and the actual price paid for Him. 00:37:32.41\00:37:34.72 In the Book of Zachariah 11:12, 00:37:34.75\00:37:38.46 it is predicted here the price, the what, 00:37:38.49\00:37:44.11 the price for his betrayal. 00:37:44.14\00:37:45.87 Notice it says "And I said unto me, 00:37:45.90\00:37:48.57 If you think good, give me my price and if not forbear. 00:37:48.60\00:37:52.80 So they weighed" how much what was it? 00:37:52.83\00:37:55.65 "Thirty pieces of silver." 00:37:55.68\00:37:58.01 So in other words if the Messiah was to be betrayed 00:37:58.04\00:38:02.07 how much would have to paid for Him? 00:38:02.10\00:38:04.46 Thirty pieces of silver not thirty pieces of copper, 00:38:04.49\00:38:07.95 not thirty pieces of gold, not twenty nine, 00:38:07.98\00:38:10.51 not twenty eight, not thirty one but how many? 00:38:10.54\00:38:12.99 Thirty, all right. 00:38:13.02\00:38:14.47 Now the amazing thing is that again 00:38:14.50\00:38:16.79 Zachariah was written about 500 years before Christ. 00:38:16.82\00:38:19.56 How long? 500 years. 00:38:19.59\00:38:22.00 Now we go over to the New Testament, 00:38:22.03\00:38:24.70 and discover the fulfillment of that particular prophecy. 00:38:24.73\00:38:28.62 And notice the detail, notice what the scripture says. 00:38:28.65\00:38:33.31 In Matthew 26:14-16 00:38:33.34\00:38:37.08 "Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, 00:38:37.11\00:38:40.07 went unto the chief priest 00:38:40.10\00:38:42.15 And said unto them, What will you" what? 00:38:42.18\00:38:44.90 Give me. "What will you give me? 00:38:44.93\00:38:46.91 And I will" what, "I will deliver him." 00:38:46.94\00:38:50.49 And what do they do? 00:38:50.52\00:38:52.39 They agreed with him for how much, 00:38:52.42\00:38:55.16 thirty pieces of what of silver 00:38:55.19\00:38:57.76 and from that time he saw opportunity to betray Him. 00:38:57.79\00:39:01.18 Think of the amazing think, how much? 00:39:01.21\00:39:03.32 Thirty pieces of silver, 00:39:03.35\00:39:06.01 exactly like have predicted 500 years before 00:39:06.04\00:39:09.38 is exactly what took place. 00:39:09.41\00:39:11.17 What has Judas asked for twenty pieces of silver? 00:39:11.20\00:39:13.68 And by the way, do you know that the thirty pieces of silver 00:39:17.27\00:39:19.47 was a price of a slave? 00:39:19.50\00:39:22.47 Judas betrayed his Lord for the price of a slave. 00:39:22.50\00:39:27.04 Listen, let's continue as time goes quickly. 00:39:27.07\00:39:31.22 Somebody said time does not shout it 00:39:31.25\00:39:32.98 just has a way of running out. 00:39:33.01\00:39:34.93 And so let's look at it. 00:39:34.96\00:39:36.38 Zachariah 11:13 00:39:36.41\00:39:37.82 what would happen to those thirty pieces of silver? 00:39:37.85\00:39:39.81 Again, "And the Lord said unto me, 00:39:39.84\00:39:42.00 cast it unto" what? The potter. 00:39:42.03\00:39:43.80 "The potter, a goodly price that I was priced at of them. 00:39:43.83\00:39:47.75 And I took the thirty pieces of silver, 00:39:47.78\00:39:49.84 and cast unto the potter" where? 00:39:49.87\00:39:52.30 "In the house of" what? "Of the Lord." 00:39:52.33\00:39:54.48 So, the thirty pieces of silver must be used for the potter 00:39:54.51\00:39:57.79 but they must first be cast where? 00:39:57.82\00:39:59.89 In the house of the Lord. 00:39:59.92\00:40:01.70 Let's find out if that actually took place. 00:40:01.73\00:40:04.78 Notice again in the fulfillment in Matthew 27, 00:40:04.81\00:40:09.00 notice it says "He cast down" how much? 00:40:09.03\00:40:12.64 "The thirty pieces of silver in the temple 00:40:12.67\00:40:15.08 and departed and hanged himself 00:40:15.11\00:40:17.25 and they took counsel, and bought with them the" what? 00:40:17.28\00:40:20.96 "A potter's field, to bury strangers in." 00:40:20.99\00:40:23.94 Amazing, what do you say? 00:40:23.97\00:40:26.62 What do you say folks? Amen. 00:40:26.65\00:40:28.35 Doesn't that give you confidence in the Word of God, 00:40:28.38\00:40:31.30 doesn't it? Just think of it. 00:40:31.33\00:40:34.49 Just think of it. 00:40:34.52\00:40:35.96 Precisely as God has foretold it happened. Why? 00:40:35.99\00:40:40.84 Because you and I needed to have the certainty 00:40:40.87\00:40:43.56 as to who we should place our faith in. 00:40:43.59\00:40:47.35 You see if people will accept 00:40:47.38\00:40:51.67 the prophecies about the Messiah, 00:40:51.70\00:40:53.85 they could have never accepted Jim Jones. 00:40:53.88\00:40:56.96 They could have never accepted Koresh, David Koresh. 00:40:56.99\00:41:00.32 They could never have accepted anyone 00:41:00.35\00:41:03.15 who claimed to be the Christ 00:41:03.18\00:41:04.77 because according to the scriptures 00:41:04.80\00:41:06.86 the Messiah had several prophecies 00:41:06.89\00:41:10.39 that He had to satisfy in order to be the true Messiah. 00:41:10.42\00:41:16.09 And we already have seen several prophecies 00:41:16.12\00:41:19.96 but look Psalms 22:18, 00:41:19.99\00:41:23.90 when Jesus was crucified 00:41:23.93\00:41:25.81 what would they do with His clothing. 00:41:25.84\00:41:27.75 A 1,000 prior it says 00:41:27.78\00:41:29.62 "They part my garments among them, 00:41:29.65\00:41:31.67 and cast lots upon my" what? 00:41:31.70\00:41:34.55 So they divide "the garments and cast" what, 00:41:34.58\00:41:38.53 "lots for my vesture" a 1,000 years before. 00:41:38.56\00:41:41.37 Now notice the fulfillment. 00:41:41.40\00:41:42.82 Notice, John 19:23, notice what it says. 00:41:42.85\00:41:46.75 "Then the soldiers when they had crucified Jesus," 00:41:46.78\00:41:51.13 notice it says "They took his garments 00:41:51.16\00:41:52.93 and made four parts to every soldier a part 00:41:52.96\00:41:57.08 and also His coat now the coat was without seam, 00:41:57.11\00:42:00.10 woven from top throughout." 00:42:00.13\00:42:02.45 And the scripture says 00:42:02.48\00:42:03.54 "They then cast lots for His vesture." 00:42:03.57\00:42:07.52 Okay, notice it says, "They said among themselves 00:42:07.55\00:42:11.52 let us not rent it but cast lots for it who it shall be 00:42:11.55\00:42:14.89 that the scriptures might be fulfilled which saith, 00:42:14.92\00:42:17.70 "They parted my raiment among them 00:42:17.73\00:42:19.78 and for my vesture they did cast lots. 00:42:19.81\00:42:23.60 These things therefore the soldiers" right. 00:42:23.63\00:42:27.73 So now notice a friend betrayed them, 00:42:27.76\00:42:31.83 the price thirty pieces of silver 00:42:31.86\00:42:34.70 it had to be cast in the temple correct in the house of the Lord 00:42:34.73\00:42:38.10 then it had to be used for the potter's field 00:42:38.13\00:42:40.81 and then of course it says that they took His garments and what 00:42:40.84\00:42:44.38 and cast lots for them. 00:42:44.41\00:42:47.23 Has the Bible been true so far? 00:42:47.26\00:42:50.05 Yes or no? Yes. 00:42:50.08\00:42:51.11 Okay, now notice then, in Psalms 22, 00:42:51.14\00:42:55.81 the very words of the Messiah have been foretold. 00:42:55.84\00:43:00.84 Notice in Psalms 22:1, 00:43:00.87\00:43:03.38 "My God, my God why hast" what? 00:43:03.41\00:43:06.71 "thou forsaken me? 00:43:06.74\00:43:07.99 Why art thou so far from helping me, 00:43:08.02\00:43:10.63 and from the words of my roaring?" Right. 00:43:10.66\00:43:14.14 The very words of the Messiah would have to say 00:43:14.17\00:43:16.52 and according to the scriptures we discover 00:43:16.55\00:43:18.76 that these are the very words of Christ 00:43:18.79\00:43:20.78 on the cross of Cavalry. 00:43:20.81\00:43:22.38 As Jesus hung on the cross 00:43:22.41\00:43:26.25 and He began to feel His father separating from Him 00:43:26.28\00:43:29.75 because He was been treated as the sin bearer 00:43:29.78\00:43:34.36 He could not bear it. 00:43:34.39\00:43:36.08 And the scripture says 00:43:36.11\00:43:37.62 "That the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, 00:43:37.65\00:43:41.57 saying, Eli, Eli lama sabachathani? 00:43:41.60\00:43:45.98 That is to say, My God, My God, 00:43:46.01\00:43:49.65 why hast thou forsaken me?" 00:43:49.68\00:43:52.30 So you can see then that the very words of Christ 00:43:52.33\00:43:55.67 would have to be fulfilled. 00:43:55.70\00:43:57.22 Look at Psalms 34 00:43:57.25\00:43:59.40 and there we see in Psalms 34 00:43:59.43\00:44:01.74 another prophecy about His bones. 00:44:01.77\00:44:04.03 Notice it says "He keepeth all his bones 00:44:04.06\00:44:06.44 not one of them is" what? "Broken." 00:44:06.47\00:44:08.75 The custom in those days was that when people were crucified 00:44:08.78\00:44:13.03 they were hoping of course that the people die on the cross 00:44:13.06\00:44:15.82 but often times many of them did not die on the cross 00:44:15.85\00:44:18.75 but to ensure their death before they took him of the cross 00:44:18.78\00:44:21.67 they actually came and hit them in the legs 00:44:21.70\00:44:24.94 with something hard enough to break their legs 00:44:24.97\00:44:28.76 and then they took them of the cross 00:44:28.79\00:44:30.16 and threw them over, over the side 00:44:30.19\00:44:31.62 into the city dump for them to die. 00:44:31.65\00:44:35.22 That way it will ensure 00:44:35.25\00:44:36.58 that they could never escape but die of exposure. 00:44:36.61\00:44:40.06 Bones were broken, but when they came to Jesus 00:44:40.09\00:44:43.08 what do they find? 00:44:43.11\00:44:44.83 "They found that Jesus was already dead 00:44:44.86\00:44:47.06 and they break not his legs "for these things were done 00:44:47.09\00:44:49.51 that the scripture should be fulfilled 00:44:49.54\00:44:51.50 a bone of him shall not be" what? 00:44:51.53\00:44:53.11 Broken. "Shall not be broken." 00:44:53.14\00:44:55.07 Isn't it the amazing friends? 00:44:55.10\00:44:56.87 Doesn't that strengthen your faith 00:44:56.90\00:44:59.09 from the word of God and his veracity? 00:44:59.12\00:45:01.37 What do you say? Amen. 00:45:01.40\00:45:02.78 But listen, there is a-- 00:45:02.81\00:45:05.21 something more interesting here to consider. 00:45:05.24\00:45:09.30 When we think of all these prophecies 00:45:09.33\00:45:12.80 we have to ask ourselves the question, 00:45:12.83\00:45:15.71 the question that Jesus asked. 00:45:15.74\00:45:18.05 "Saying what think ye of Christ? 00:45:18.08\00:45:21.40 Whose son is he?" 00:45:21.43\00:45:24.33 And that's the question you and I should ask tonight, 00:45:24.36\00:45:27.31 what do you think of Christ? 00:45:27.34\00:45:29.45 Whose son is He? 00:45:29.48\00:45:31.45 Is He just the son of man, the son of Mary, 00:45:31.48\00:45:34.61 the son of Joseph or is He really divine? 00:45:34.64\00:45:38.87 Was He really the Son of God? 00:45:38.90\00:45:41.19 Did He come from heaven? 00:45:41.22\00:45:43.20 Did He come to die for you, and for me? 00:45:43.23\00:45:46.61 What think ye of Christ? 00:45:46.64\00:45:48.66 And I think the answer to that would change the entire life 00:45:48.69\00:45:52.86 and course of your being. 00:45:52.89\00:45:55.22 The question then, 00:45:59.88\00:46:02.85 Jesus Christ is He God or is He man? 00:46:02.88\00:46:09.06 Was it just a man dying for you 00:46:09.09\00:46:12.37 or was it God manifested in the flesh 00:46:12.40\00:46:17.40 as it says in the scriptures? 00:46:17.43\00:46:20.88 I suppose if we were to ask people in His day 00:46:20.91\00:46:25.46 if we could bring people to the witness stand 00:46:25.49\00:46:28.90 and ask people who saw Him, 00:46:28.93\00:46:31.25 who touched Him, who felt Him, who heard Him 00:46:31.28\00:46:33.74 what is it that you think of Christ 00:46:33.77\00:46:36.04 who do you think He is? 00:46:36.07\00:46:38.18 I suppose we would get an insight 00:46:38.21\00:46:40.39 as to what the people in His day believed He was. 00:46:40.42\00:46:44.15 If we were to for example, 00:46:44.18\00:46:45.67 bring the John the Baptist on the witness stand 00:46:45.70\00:46:47.54 and say "John, who do you think Christ is?" 00:46:47.57\00:46:51.14 You remember what John the Baptist said about Christ, 00:46:51.17\00:46:55.40 look let me skip this here for a moment 00:46:55.43\00:46:59.99 and I will come back to it. 00:47:00.02\00:47:01.53 John said what? Behold what? 00:47:07.64\00:47:11.80 The Lamb of God. 00:47:11.83\00:47:14.54 If we were then to ask Peter, 00:47:14.57\00:47:17.15 "Peter, what was your impression, 00:47:17.18\00:47:19.41 who do you say that He is? 00:47:19.44\00:47:22.56 Peter response to that question. 00:47:22.59\00:47:25.87 Do you remember how he said 00:47:25.90\00:47:28.87 concerning the Messiah and his faith in Christ? 00:47:28.90\00:47:32.24 John, I'm sorry "In the beginning was the Word 00:47:32.27\00:47:35.02 and the Word was with God." 00:47:35.05\00:47:36.77 Now Peter, actually said thou art that what? 00:47:36.80\00:47:40.63 The Christ, the Son of the living God. 00:47:40.66\00:47:44.52 And if we continue asking testimonies of others, 00:47:44.55\00:47:47.48 Nicodemus who came to Christ by night, 00:47:47.51\00:47:49.70 what was his testimony? 00:47:49.73\00:47:51.18 "We know thou art" a what? 00:47:51.21\00:47:53.06 A teacher who has come from" where? "From God." 00:47:53.09\00:47:56.69 And if we were then to ask Pilate, 00:47:56.72\00:47:59.97 viley Pilate the one who was the judge of Christ 00:48:00.00\00:48:03.20 who seven times declared Him to be innocent. 00:48:03.23\00:48:06.24 In fact seven times he said I find no fault in Him. 00:48:06.27\00:48:13.21 Pilate, what do you say of Christ? 00:48:13.24\00:48:16.09 I find how much? No fault in Him. 00:48:16.12\00:48:19.78 That's quite a statement. 00:48:19.81\00:48:21.39 The thief on the cross do you remember 00:48:21.42\00:48:23.57 at the last hour when all had forsaken Christ 00:48:23.60\00:48:26.93 when it seemed like no one believed Him 00:48:26.96\00:48:29.50 in that dark hour there was somebody 00:48:29.53\00:48:32.48 who did believe in Him 00:48:32.51\00:48:34.04 and as the thief noticed Christ, 00:48:34.07\00:48:39.56 thief came and if you were to ask that thief on the cross, 00:48:39.59\00:48:47.12 "What is you impression of Him? 00:48:47.15\00:48:49.85 What do you say of Christ?" Lord. 00:48:49.88\00:48:52.97 He call Him what? 00:48:53.00\00:48:54.51 "Lord! Remember me 00:48:54.54\00:48:56.55 when Thou cometh in Thy Kingdom." 00:48:56.58\00:49:02.78 As Christ hung on the cross 00:49:02.81\00:49:06.46 darkness came around the cross, 00:49:06.49\00:49:09.81 and lightening, 00:49:09.84\00:49:12.57 and finally Jesus said those words 00:49:12.60\00:49:17.06 my God, my God and finally 00:49:17.09\00:49:19.46 the last words that He, declared was it is finished. 00:49:19.49\00:49:26.47 And then all of a sudden He died. 00:49:26.50\00:49:31.52 Everyone was spell bound, 00:49:31.55\00:49:33.52 there was silence and the silence was broken 00:49:33.55\00:49:36.74 by the witness of a centurion. 00:49:36.77\00:49:39.66 And if you were ask that centurion 00:49:39.69\00:49:42.08 what do you say of Christ? 00:49:42.11\00:49:44.53 What was your impression? 00:49:44.56\00:49:45.89 Remember he exclaimed "This was" who? 00:49:45.92\00:49:50.06 "The Son of God." 00:49:50.09\00:49:55.41 The resurrection then came and there was one disciple 00:49:55.44\00:49:59.60 that did not believe. 00:49:59.63\00:50:01.30 Do you remember his name? 00:50:01.33\00:50:03.15 Thomas, some people call him doubting Thomas. 00:50:03.18\00:50:09.09 Because Thomas said I will not believe except 00:50:09.12\00:50:11.86 I could put my fingers in His hands 00:50:11.89\00:50:14.44 and in His side and finally, Jesus did appear to Thomas 00:50:14.47\00:50:19.41 and if you were to bring Thomas in the witness stand 00:50:19.44\00:50:21.27 and ask Thomas "What was you impression?" 00:50:21.30\00:50:24.43 What do you think? 00:50:24.46\00:50:25.71 Do you remember Thomas's words 00:50:25.74\00:50:28.73 "My God and what? "And my Lord." 00:50:28.76\00:50:33.64 Thomas no longer doubts Him, 00:50:33.67\00:50:36.04 finally understood that the one who He walked with, 00:50:36.07\00:50:39.89 the one who He talked with, 00:50:39.92\00:50:41.85 the one who He was able to witness the miracles 00:50:41.88\00:50:46.72 in all that He did finally after all of that 00:50:46.75\00:50:50.26 he finally was convinced that this was not just a guru, 00:50:50.29\00:50:54.57 not just some man who had supernatural abilities 00:50:54.60\00:50:58.98 and the disciples were thinking boy 00:50:59.01\00:51:01.18 "If I could just tap into that mental power, 00:51:01.21\00:51:03.12 I also can do the same thing." 00:51:03.15\00:51:05.88 No, Thomas finally was convinced 00:51:05.91\00:51:08.99 that he was dealing with not just mere man 00:51:09.02\00:51:11.90 he was dealing with whom? With God. 00:51:11.93\00:51:14.73 And he exclaimed "My God" and what else "my Lord." 00:51:14.76\00:51:20.42 Let me share with you nine points 00:51:20.45\00:51:22.50 why I believe that Christ was divine. 00:51:22.53\00:51:25.46 First of all, Christ could read human hearts. 00:51:25.49\00:51:27.57 He could what? 00:51:27.60\00:51:28.99 He could read human hearts. 00:51:29.02\00:51:30.31 Number two, Christ could foretell the future. 00:51:30.34\00:51:34.00 Was He able to foretell the future yes or no? 00:51:34.03\00:51:36.64 Yes. 00:51:36.67\00:51:37.70 And did He ever make a mistake about the future? 00:51:37.73\00:51:40.06 No. 00:51:40.09\00:51:41.12 Number three, He had creative power. 00:51:41.15\00:51:43.40 He fed thousands of people from a piece of bread. 00:51:43.43\00:51:46.76 In fact, He resurrected Lazarus from the dead. 00:51:46.79\00:51:50.32 After the man had been dead for four days 00:51:50.35\00:51:52.57 He allowed the man be dead for four days 00:51:52.60\00:51:54.66 so that the man would begin to decompose 00:51:54.69\00:51:57.01 and the reason for that is that prior to this, 00:51:57.04\00:51:59.59 He had actually resurrected people 00:51:59.62\00:52:01.36 but He always made the statement 00:52:01.39\00:52:03.00 "She is asleep, he is asleep, he is okay." 00:52:03.03\00:52:06.85 So even though He performed miracles they would say, 00:52:06.88\00:52:10.23 don't you remember He said "She was asleep" 00:52:10.26\00:52:12.04 so He really didn't resurrect her. 00:52:12.07\00:52:14.08 So now Jesus allows his friend to be dead for four days 00:52:14.11\00:52:18.13 to decompose so that when they perform the miracle 00:52:18.16\00:52:21.71 there would be no question that He had divine power. 00:52:21.74\00:52:24.77 And so Jesus had creative power. 00:52:24.80\00:52:28.28 He brought Lazarus back to life as well. 00:52:28.31\00:52:30.74 And so He could resurrect people, 00:52:30.77\00:52:34.02 could give life and He had life unborrowed as well. 00:52:34.05\00:52:37.36 He had power to forgive. 00:52:37.39\00:52:39.21 Remember when the woman was brought to Him 00:52:39.24\00:52:42.07 and they wanted to stone her and finally Jesus sat down 00:52:42.10\00:52:47.50 and began to write the sins of those who were accusing her 00:52:47.53\00:52:50.52 and they began to flee away. 00:52:50.55\00:52:52.28 And finally they asked, He asked the question 00:52:52.31\00:52:55.02 "where are the accusers?" 00:52:55.05\00:52:56.42 And she said "No one accuses me." 00:52:56.45\00:52:59.18 And He said "go and sin no more." 00:52:59.21\00:53:01.92 Another time a man was brought down in the bed, 00:53:01.95\00:53:04.00 do you remember that? 00:53:04.03\00:53:05.11 They tore up the roof and the man was sick 00:53:05.14\00:53:08.12 and they expected Jesus to heal the man 00:53:08.15\00:53:10.11 but the Lord said "Son thy sins be" What? 00:53:10.14\00:53:14.25 "Forgiven thee." 00:53:14.28\00:53:15.51 He had power to forgive sins. 00:53:15.54\00:53:17.61 Number five-- six, He could receive worship, 00:53:17.64\00:53:20.20 many came to worship Him and He never forbade them. 00:53:20.23\00:53:22.61 Angels did forbid people to worship. 00:53:22.64\00:53:24.72 When John knelt down before the angel to worship 00:53:24.75\00:53:27.58 the angel said "Don't you do it, 00:53:27.61\00:53:29.22 because I'm one of your fellow servants, worship God." 00:53:29.25\00:53:33.14 So Jesus received worship. 00:53:33.17\00:53:34.89 Number seven, He had life inherent unborrowed. 00:53:34.92\00:53:38.28 Number eight, He could transform human hearts. 00:53:38.31\00:53:41.06 Number nine, He had power of infallibility 00:53:41.09\00:53:44.45 it never made a mistake. 00:53:44.48\00:53:46.94 My friends, what think you of Christ? 00:53:46.97\00:53:50.81 Whose son is He? 00:53:50.84\00:53:53.45 Is He who the Bible says He is? 00:53:53.48\00:54:00.22 Is He a divine being? Is He Lord? 00:54:00.25\00:54:06.41 Is He God and the most important question is He your Savior? 00:54:06.44\00:54:13.32 The Bible speaks about Christ being the rock, 00:54:17.94\00:54:20.60 do you remember that? 00:54:20.63\00:54:22.21 In fact Jesus himself said that 00:54:22.24\00:54:24.33 as a stone was rejected by the builders, 00:54:24.36\00:54:29.14 He said that, "That particular stone 00:54:29.17\00:54:32.08 if you fall on it you will be broken 00:54:32.11\00:54:35.27 but if it falls on you it will ground you to powder." 00:54:35.30\00:54:38.12 Well, Jesus was using the analogy of Daniel Chapter 2 00:54:38.15\00:54:41.07 where the stone comes out without hand 00:54:41.10\00:54:43.29 and smash the image and ground it to power, you see. 00:54:43.32\00:54:46.02 But that stone was Himself. 00:54:46.05\00:54:48.39 And so the point was this you have an option, 00:54:48.42\00:54:51.75 you either fall on the rock and then broken 00:54:51.78\00:54:54.15 or if the rock falls on you it completely destroys you. 00:54:54.18\00:54:59.63 Up in the Canada there is a place called the Great Divide. 00:54:59.66\00:55:01.95 How many of you have the heard of the Great Divide? 00:55:01.98\00:55:03.90 Any of you? 00:55:03.93\00:55:05.45 Well, people actually take tour, 00:55:05.48\00:55:09.51 excursions up to see this Great Divide, 00:55:09.54\00:55:11.77 well, just the name sounds like something great, correct? 00:55:11.80\00:55:15.00 And so people pay money, take the train 00:55:15.03\00:55:17.41 and go up there to this Great Divide 00:55:17.44\00:55:20.09 and when they get up there 00:55:20.12\00:55:21.15 they discover what the Great Divide is. 00:55:21.18\00:55:22.85 It's just a little spring of water 00:55:22.88\00:55:24.59 that comes out of the ground and heads toward to a rock 00:55:24.62\00:55:27.60 and when they hit the rocks 00:55:27.63\00:55:28.66 some of the water turns to the right 00:55:28.69\00:55:29.93 and some of it turns to the left. 00:55:29.96\00:55:31.41 That's the great divide. 00:55:31.44\00:55:35.68 The amazing thing is this. 00:55:35.71\00:55:37.43 That that rock determines the destiny. 00:55:37.46\00:55:40.61 That rock what? 00:55:40.64\00:55:42.30 Determines the destiny 00:55:42.33\00:55:44.29 and so Christ determines your destiny. 00:55:44.32\00:55:50.53 The question is this friends, 00:55:50.56\00:55:54.26 who is Christ to you? 00:55:54.29\00:55:56.88 Have you accepted Christ as your Savior? 00:55:56.91\00:56:02.29 Have you seen Him as the Lord of your life? 00:56:02.32\00:56:09.24 Will you accept Him tonight? 00:56:09.27\00:56:11.81 How many here have accepted Christ 00:56:11.84\00:56:13.89 as your Savior already? Can I see your hands? 00:56:13.92\00:56:16.71 Wonderful, heaven rejoices over that. 00:56:16.74\00:56:19.71 What do you say? Amen. 00:56:19.74\00:56:21.82 And perhaps, there's somebody here 00:56:21.85\00:56:23.11 who has not yet accepted Christ. 00:56:23.14\00:56:26.05 Why not make Him Lord of your life tonight? 00:56:26.08\00:56:31.12 Why not say "Lord, I didn't understand all of this 00:56:31.15\00:56:35.27 but tonight I can seek plainly that You are the divine Savior." 00:56:35.30\00:56:40.14 Listen, we need that kind of Savior, 00:56:40.17\00:56:43.54 we need a divine being 00:56:43.57\00:56:44.84 who could change our human hearts. 00:56:44.87\00:56:46.25 I thank God that He changed my heart. 00:56:46.28\00:56:49.90 I can add my testimony to the testimony of others. 00:56:49.93\00:56:53.14 And oh, friend, if you make Him your Savior, 00:56:53.17\00:56:55.43 He will change your heart also. 00:56:55.46\00:56:57.80 Let us pray together, shall we? 00:56:57.83\00:57:00.17 Our father, here we stand tonight with that question, 00:57:00.20\00:57:05.65 what thinking he has, whose Son is he. 00:57:05.68\00:57:09.63 Oh Lord I pray, that along with all 00:57:09.66\00:57:12.19 who raised their hands 00:57:12.22\00:57:13.50 and those have not can make Him their Savior tonight. 00:57:13.53\00:57:16.41 In Jesus name. 00:57:16.44\00:57:17.94
