where he had seen this coffin

with the person he

is the very place
where they laid him.

And so some dreams do what?

When he had
this dream he woke up

not being able to
remember precisely what it was

but it troubled him sufficiently

that he wanted to
be able to remember it.

How many of you have had a dream
which you could not remember,

Well, Nebuchadnezzar
had that experience and so

is he had counselors

who claimed that
they had the ability to

give interpretations to dreams.

So Nebuchadnezzar
thought if you can interpret it

you certainly
can tell it as well.

So since, you
could not remember it,

the scripture reveals
that he called his counselors.

Now, Iraq as Tony mentioned

has a lot of
historical background.

And I want you to
understand something about Iraq.

First of all the
Garden of Eden was

between those two
rivers we're told.

So in Iraq the Tower
of Babel is built where?

In Iraq or Babylon.

The Abraham came from,

And Abraham was not a Jew

Daniel the Prophet
had his vision where?

And the Wise Men who
brought gifts to Christ

So many major historical events

had that particular dream

called his counselors together

as he recall

you could read
the dream for yourself

and you could see
what it transpiring

before Daniel
interprets the dream.

The king calls
together his counselors.

He says, I had this
dream, I can't remember it.

Please tell me what it is.

They said, tell us what it is
and we'll interpret it for you.

you're asking us to do something

And so Nebuchadnezzar
being short tempered said,

look, if you don't
tell me what the dream is

then I know you guys are phonies

and so we're going to
make sure that you get cut off

and so either you
tell me or your heads.

Well, they couldn't.

So the king got
angry the Bible says

and they sent the
order for of to go
00:11:45.11\00:11:49.37
gather all the wise
men and to get rid of them.
00:11:49.40\00:11:53.26
One of those
wise men was Daniel.
00:11:53.29\00:11:57.16
And Daniel for some reason
00:11:57.19\00:11:59.36
was not in the
audience at this time
00:11:59.39\00:12:01.80
but Ariok the
captain of the guards
00:12:01.83\00:12:04.58
actually told Daniel
what was taking place.
00:12:04.61\00:12:06.75
Daniel then begs for time.
00:12:06.78\00:12:10.53
And he did what
all of us should do
00:12:10.56\00:12:13.48
when we're in trouble.
00:12:13.51\00:12:14.54
And what is that?
00:12:14.57\00:12:15.90
We should pray.

Daniel got
together with his friends
00:12:17.24\00:12:19.39
and had a prayer meeting.

And should I say this to you.

There was a time
when I was an atheist

and I didn't believe in prayer.
00:12:25.15\00:12:27.26
I didn't believe
that there was a God.

But I can tell you
today that I know there is God

and I know He hears prayers.

And so Daniel
prayed-- God in mercy

then revealed to
Daniel the answer

that he was seeking for

and he came
before the king of course

and shared the
dream with the king.

And told the king that
the purpose of this dream

was to reveal what would
happen when, what does it say?

In the what?

Latter days or in the last days.

In other words
think of it friends,

God gave to an
Iraqi king a dream

that would have an
impact on earth's history

all away into the latter days.

You can understand why then

Iraq has played such a,
a role in biblical history.

Now listen, as Daniel
comes before that king

and begins to reveal the dream--

and I want you to notice

as we read then verse 31-32.

Daniel explains to the
king that he saw an image.

And it says then verse 31 that
00:13:49.11\00:13:52.08
"This great image, whose
brightness was excellent,
00:13:52.11\00:13:54.63
stood before thee
00:13:54.66\00:13:56.29
and the form
thereof was terrible."

And so Daniel now is
unfolding this sad dream
00:13:59.13\00:14:04.33
and says that
Nebuchadnezzar saw an image.
00:14:04.36\00:14:07.64
Then it says that this
image head was of gold.
00:14:07.67\00:14:10.31
It says then that
breast were of silver,
00:14:10.34\00:14:13.69
the waist was of
brass, the legs were of iron
00:14:13.72\00:14:18.56
and the feet were iron and clay.
00:14:18.59\00:14:21.73
But it doesn't stop there
00:14:21.76\00:14:23.19
then it says
that there is a stone
00:14:23.22\00:14:25.40
which is cut off without hands
00:14:25.43\00:14:27.36
and comes down
and smashes that image
00:14:27.39\00:14:30.14
and that image
becomes like the chaff
00:14:30.17\00:14:32.35
of the threshing floor.
00:14:32.38\00:14:33.86
And then it says that that stone
that's cutout without hands
00:14:33.89\00:14:37.47
becomes a great mountain
that fills the whole earth.
00:14:37.50\00:14:42.20
Now you're gonna
imagine of course Nebuchadnezzar
00:14:42.23\00:14:46.59
listening to his
dream being unfold.
00:14:46.62\00:14:52.66
As the dream is unfolded
can you think to yourself

if you had gone to somebody
00:14:58.34\00:15:01.44
and they had told you
exactly what you had dreamt,

what you would
think of that person?

Won't you be struck
with alarm think to yourself

this person has
some connections.

Yes or no? Yes.

And so as Daniel
reveals this particular dream

and the image with the stone
and finally becoming a mountain

Nebuchadnezzar of course
is very greatly impressed.

But now the interpretation

is found in verse 36 and on.

If you'll notice then
Daniel begins to explain

the particular meaning
of this particular subject

and Daniel as
he is explaining it

the king is
listening very intently

and notice what Daniel says
concerning the interpretation.

Notice now that in
reference to Babylon

"thou art a king of kings."

and see one of the gates

Babylon being a
very exquisite empire

Nebuchadnezzar
believes that this would be

the final empire
of earth's history.

In fact, we're told
that the archeologists

are discovered
tablets, business tablets

written during the
time of Nebuchadnezzar

and his business ventures.

And a letter that he wrote

which is inscribed on
this particular tailored stone

and the back of it
had something inscribed

and this is
what it had inscribed

"May it last" for how long?

"forever."

Nebuchadnezzar wanted his empire

to be the final
kingdom on earth's history.

But God had other plans.

"forever."

God had already predicted

Notice that God had already said

"And Babylon, the
glory of kingdoms,

Chaldees' excellency,

Sodom and Gomorrah."

this to you folks,

You can count on it.

And so God said that
Babylon will be overthrown.

And so Nebuchadnezzar of course

was very displeased with that.

And we're told then
that later on in chapter 3

Nebuchadnezzar builds a statue
00:19:04.97\00:19:07.61
not of gold,
silver, brass and iron
00:19:07.64\00:19:12.62
but builds a statue
about 90 feet tall of gold.
00:19:12.65\00:19:17.04
He did not like
the rest of the metals.
00:19:17.07\00:19:21.19
He wanted to ensure that
his kingdom would last forever
00:19:21.22\00:19:24.73
but you cannot
defy what God says.
00:19:24.76\00:19:29.89
And so that Babylonian Empire
00:19:29.92\00:19:34.66
was conquered by the
Medes and the Persians
00:19:34.69\00:19:37.15
according to history
and it was overthrown

in the year 539 BC.

In fact what's
interesting is that

later on in the
Book of Revelation

which we'll study later on
00:19:47.31\00:19:48.80
you'll discover that
it's that it speaks about
00:19:48.83\00:19:51.49
the River Euphrates drying up.
00:19:51.52\00:19:54.23
Are you
acquainted with that phrase?

All right, it is reference
to what happened with Babylon.
00:19:56.29\00:20:02.00
What took place
with Babylon is that,
00:20:02.03\00:20:04.52
that the Medes and the Persians
actually diverted the river
00:20:04.55\00:20:08.42
and dried up the
bank of the river
00:20:08.45\00:20:11.11
or should I say
they furthered river
00:20:11.14\00:20:12.79
and actually
climbed underneath the gate
00:20:12.82\00:20:16.04
which were
unguarded and they went in
00:20:16.07\00:20:18.87
and conquered the
Babylonian Empire.
00:20:18.90\00:20:23.08
So the river
Euphrates was dried up
00:20:23.11\00:20:26.81
and so the
significance to that later on
00:20:26.84\00:20:30.32
as we study in the
Book of Revelation.

Finally, the scripture
reveals that the silver then
00:20:36.33\00:20:40.33
would not be the
lasting empire as wealth
00:20:40.36\00:20:42.37
but the silver
would also come to its end
00:20:42.40\00:20:45.07
and the
scriptures says that the,
00:20:45.10\00:20:47.52
brass would then supersede
or overcome this silver.

Now, I want you to
notice something interesting

what's happening.

It starts out with gold

and it becomes
inferior and by into silver

and then finally
brass is inferior to silver.

And so we see
something taking place.
