Some people argue that religion 00:00:13.16\00:00:15.66 is the root of all the world's problems. 00:00:15.69\00:00:18.85 Well, this claim is clearly debatable. 00:00:18.88\00:00:21.78 Those who profess to have faith in God 00:00:21.81\00:00:24.62 need to be willing to examine whether their lives 00:00:24.65\00:00:27.45 and their beliefs rightly represented. 00:00:27.48\00:00:31.36 A perceptive author has written 00:00:31.39\00:00:33.66 that the world is dark 00:00:33.69\00:00:35.51 with misapprehension of the character of God. 00:00:35.54\00:00:39.81 Partial or incorrect truths 00:00:39.84\00:00:41.97 can bind us into a kind of spiritual slavery. 00:00:42.00\00:00:46.43 Join us as we explore an OCI Ministry 00:00:46.46\00:00:50.61 that is working to free people from wrong ideas 00:00:50.64\00:00:54.68 about the character of God. 00:00:54.71\00:00:57.18 The beautiful island of Zanzibar 00:01:13.32\00:01:15.17 has a rich and varied history. 00:01:15.20\00:01:17.68 It's well known for its many exports. 00:01:17.71\00:01:21.02 Unfortunately there's a dark side 00:01:21.05\00:01:23.32 to Zanzibar's history as well. 00:01:23.35\00:01:26.95 In the 19th century for decades 00:01:26.98\00:01:29.16 Zanzibar was the center of a horrific slave trade. 00:01:29.19\00:01:35.37 Behind me is where slaves from the mainland we're taken 00:01:35.40\00:01:38.20 and then sold to slave traders. 00:01:38.23\00:01:42.37 These poor individuals were ripped from their homes 00:01:42.40\00:01:45.12 and disbursed throughout the region. 00:01:45.15\00:01:48.65 Zanzibar is now connected with that mainland 00:01:48.68\00:01:52.39 through being part of the Republic of Tanzania. 00:01:52.42\00:01:55.92 The Tanzanian people are very diverse, 00:01:55.95\00:01:58.72 yet they are united through a common culture and language. 00:01:58.75\00:02:04.86 Religion plays a dominant role in this society. 00:02:04.89\00:02:09.01 The three main religions are Islam, Christianity, 00:02:09.04\00:02:13.11 and the animist for local religions 00:02:13.14\00:02:15.25 each of them comprising about 30 percent on the population. 00:02:15.28\00:02:21.97 Tanzania is also the home of an OCI Ministry called Kibidula. 00:02:22.00\00:02:27.14 It is set in the region of Mafinga 00:02:27.17\00:02:29.85 and located on a 4,700 acre farm. 00:02:29.88\00:02:34.49 The National and international staff 00:02:34.52\00:02:37.27 are united together in doing what they can 00:02:37.30\00:02:39.69 to free the Tanzanian people from the spiritual slavery 00:02:39.72\00:02:43.83 that comes from misapprehension of the character of God. 00:02:43.86\00:02:47.97 This farm belong to colonial farmer 00:02:51.96\00:02:55.92 back in the colonial era. 00:02:55.95\00:02:58.16 His wife was a Seventh-day Adventist. 00:02:58.19\00:03:00.31 When this country gained its independence 00:03:00.34\00:03:02.71 he chose to return to his homeland, South Africa. 00:03:02.74\00:03:06.07 And when he left he donated the whole farm 00:03:06.10\00:03:08.74 to the Seventh-day Adventist Church. 00:03:08.77\00:03:12.24 The church tried to do different projects here 00:03:12.27\00:03:15.24 and never had much success, 00:03:15.27\00:03:18.01 finally the church contacted Riverside 00:03:18.04\00:03:20.53 and asked if they would be willing to try 00:03:20.56\00:03:22.36 and set up a self-supporting mission station on Kibidula. 00:03:22.39\00:03:26.96 Our goal here is to be of service to the church, 00:03:26.99\00:03:31.26 to spread the gospel in Tanzania. 00:03:31.29\00:03:34.27 One of the things we would like to do 00:03:34.30\00:03:35.60 is to help strengthen the existing church members 00:03:35.63\00:03:38.67 in their knowledge of God. 00:03:38.70\00:03:41.47 And many times it's easier for us 00:03:41.50\00:03:43.16 to have a wrong understanding 00:03:43.19\00:03:44.44 of how God is and the plan of salvation. 00:03:44.47\00:03:47.76 And we're trying through our training programs 00:03:47.79\00:03:50.83 and in seminars and our teaching 00:03:50.86\00:03:52.35 to continue to strengthen church members 00:03:52.38\00:03:55.81 in their understanding of God 00:03:55.84\00:03:57.79 and of the plan of salvation and His love for us. 00:03:57.82\00:04:02.70 At the school we have, 00:04:02.73\00:04:04.36 now we have 80 students this year. 00:04:04.39\00:04:07.43 The children who come here they are from six year old, 00:04:07.46\00:04:10.87 so they have one year pre-school. 00:04:10.90\00:04:12.91 And then they start what we call standard one 00:04:12.94\00:04:15.60 which is grade one and then go up to seventh grade. 00:04:15.63\00:04:18.30 So they end up primary school here in Tanzania is seventh 00:04:18.33\00:04:21.67 and then they go on to secondary school. 00:04:21.70\00:04:24.22 Our goal with the school is to give the students 00:04:24.25\00:04:26.53 a good education in English 00:04:26.56\00:04:29.08 because in the secondary schools here, 00:04:29.11\00:04:31.73 everything is in English 00:04:31.76\00:04:33.70 and so it can be a big challenge for people. 00:04:33.73\00:04:36.63 Another reasons why we have the school in that 00:04:36.66\00:04:39.75 we want the kids to know Christ. 00:04:39.78\00:04:42.12 Every day we start with worship 00:04:42.15\00:04:44.52 and we take the kids out to visit churches and villages 00:04:44.55\00:04:47.94 to help them get an experience 00:04:47.97\00:04:50.10 in sharing their faith with others 00:04:50.13\00:04:51.98 and I think that one of the most rewarding things 00:04:52.01\00:04:54.42 about working in a place like this is to see 00:04:54.45\00:04:56.67 how Christ is pulling on the hearts of these children. 00:04:56.70\00:05:00.24 Ask questions and some are anxious 00:05:00.27\00:05:03.08 to know that Christ is coming back soon and that- 00:05:03.11\00:05:07.96 to have their successful and happy life here on earth 00:05:07.99\00:05:11.62 and in for eternity to know 00:05:11.65\00:05:15.21 Christ is the most important thing that they can do. 00:05:15.24\00:05:19.59 The children that come here to school 00:05:19.62\00:05:21.19 they don't pay school fees to come here 00:05:21.22\00:05:23.36 because we don't want the school 00:05:23.39\00:05:24.98 to be just an option for the rich children. 00:05:25.01\00:05:28.00 And so all the children they come here for free. 00:05:28.03\00:05:33.03 And so the parents which are very happy 00:05:33.06\00:05:35.17 for this option for their children, 00:05:35.20\00:05:36.95 they have decided that they would like to come 00:05:36.98\00:05:39.36 and do this field press 00:05:39.39\00:05:41.92 and so they're here today planting soybeans and maze. 00:05:41.95\00:05:47.46 From time to time we take a few hours 00:05:47.49\00:05:49.56 to cut the grass and clean the paths 00:05:49.59\00:05:53.00 and this is where they live 00:05:53.03\00:05:56.44 many hours every day, every week, 00:05:56.47\00:05:58.87 you know, and feel to keep it tidy 00:05:58.90\00:06:01.21 and it's nice that children are participating in that. 00:06:01.24\00:06:06.00 Today we're making a park like a wooded area 00:06:06.03\00:06:09.25 where they can eat their lunch and things like that, yeah. 00:06:09.28\00:06:12.06 The goal of this school is to reach the laymen 00:06:26.84\00:06:31.80 that don't have the opportunity to go to school 00:06:31.83\00:06:35.10 and get the theology training. 00:06:35.13\00:06:37.43 And we have just discovered that they are many people 00:06:37.46\00:06:41.03 that church members that have got their gifts. 00:06:41.06\00:06:45.59 They have their talents, they have- 00:06:45.62\00:06:47.33 they are ready to present the gospel 00:06:47.36\00:06:49.19 but they're lack of the training. 00:06:49.22\00:06:51.14 And so we tried to organize our program 00:06:51.17\00:06:53.49 to reach basically to layman themselves, 00:06:53.52\00:06:55.63 just to keep them with some knowledge 00:06:55.66\00:06:58.09 so that they can be able to reach other people. 00:06:58.12\00:07:01.64 Realizing that we have many students 00:07:01.67\00:07:03.77 that come even from Muslim areas 00:07:03.80\00:07:06.61 we have funds and people that are gifted- 00:07:06.64\00:07:08.78 that have been well trained in that area. 00:07:08.81\00:07:11.66 So in every session that we have we asked them to come, 00:07:11.69\00:07:15.02 they come for a week to give that training to our people. 00:07:15.05\00:07:18.67 And those that come from the Muslim areas 00:07:18.70\00:07:21.44 they get lot of blessings. 00:07:21.47\00:07:23.25 I was born into a Muslim family, 00:07:27.97\00:07:30.64 from 1992 to 1998 00:07:30.67\00:07:33.94 I was trained in the laws of Islam. 00:07:33.97\00:07:37.95 Then in 2006, I made the decision 00:07:37.98\00:07:41.01 to become a Christian. 00:07:41.04\00:07:44.52 The top Islamic leaders were called 00:07:44.55\00:07:46.17 to convince me, to come back, 00:07:46.20\00:07:49.56 but they were unable to answer the questions 00:07:49.59\00:07:51.42 that I was asking them. 00:07:51.45\00:07:54.39 In my studies here at Kibidula, 00:07:54.42\00:07:56.94 I discovered I do not have 00:07:56.97\00:07:58.45 the deeper understanding of the scriptures. 00:07:58.48\00:08:02.52 But when I came here my mind was expanded. 00:08:02.55\00:08:05.25 I had much more understanding, 00:08:05.28\00:08:07.48 especially lessons that had to do with the law of God, 00:08:07.51\00:08:10.54 prophecy and much more. 00:08:10.57\00:08:13.97 And this is making me more confident 00:08:14.00\00:08:15.91 in what I am doing and I know I've made the right choice. 00:08:15.94\00:08:19.58 The country of Tanzania has two economic engines. 00:08:26.68\00:08:30.72 The first one that usually comes to mind is tourism, 00:08:30.75\00:08:33.89 with the towering mountain Kilimanjaro, 00:08:33.92\00:08:36.57 the iconic plains of the Serengeti 00:08:36.60\00:08:39.31 and the long coastline with the many beaches. 00:08:39.34\00:08:41.96 But it's really agriculture 00:08:41.99\00:08:43.78 that is the powerhouse behind Tanzania's economy. 00:08:43.81\00:08:47.65 Almost two-thirds of the Tanzanian workforce 00:08:47.68\00:08:50.53 is involved in someway in agriculture, 00:08:50.56\00:08:53.30 whether it's growing crops for local consumption or export, 00:08:53.33\00:08:57.12 the large tea estates 00:08:57.15\00:08:59.19 or the large tracks of timber that's used for lumber. 00:08:59.22\00:09:02.34 Agriculture contributes to almost 50 percent 00:09:02.37\00:09:05.79 of Tanzania's gross domestic product. 00:09:05.82\00:09:09.18 Many of the people in the rural areas 00:09:09.21\00:09:10.96 however are subsistence farmers. 00:09:10.99\00:09:14.36 Kibidula is to help these rural farmers 00:09:14.39\00:09:18.21 improve their agricultural skills. 00:09:18.24\00:09:21.60 Many of the young people in the villages around here 00:09:21.63\00:09:24.41 don't get the opportunity to go on to secondary school. 00:09:24.44\00:09:27.84 And see you got all these young people 00:09:27.87\00:09:29.36 with little future in front of them. 00:09:29.39\00:09:31.84 And so we've set up 00:09:31.87\00:09:33.37 the school of agriculture with the idea that, 00:09:33.40\00:09:35.98 if they're going to become subsistence farmers, 00:09:36.01\00:09:38.77 at least they could do good at it. 00:09:38.80\00:09:41.73 While they're here they learn principles of agriculture, 00:09:41.76\00:09:44.01 you know, gardening, field crops 00:09:44.04\00:09:46.24 but also principles of health and Bible classes 00:09:46.27\00:09:49.46 and we teach them English and other general subjects, 00:09:49.49\00:09:52.65 maths and science, and help them through life 00:09:52.68\00:09:56.21 to live life more successfully 00:09:56.24\00:09:58.50 even if they don't go on to higher education 00:09:58.53\00:10:01.01 but become leaders in their village, in their setting. 00:10:01.04\00:10:03.47 I've been learning agriculture 00:10:09.11\00:10:11.02 especially how to care for the soil. 00:10:11.05\00:10:15.63 Also here at Kibidula we've been studying the Bible, 00:10:15.66\00:10:19.06 how to have a good life here in this world 00:10:19.09\00:10:21.49 and in the future life to come. 00:10:21.52\00:10:23.94 We've been studying these classes 00:10:23.97\00:10:26.26 and we see their importance 00:10:26.29\00:10:27.66 for getting ready for Jesus second coming. 00:10:27.69\00:10:32.34 When I leave Kibidula my life will be different 00:10:32.37\00:10:35.61 because when I go back home 00:10:35.64\00:10:37.30 I will be practicing agriculture that takes care of the soil. 00:10:37.33\00:10:42.36 Before I wasn't following the Bible 00:10:42.39\00:10:45.05 but now I will try to live my life 00:10:45.08\00:10:47.12 in accordance with the Bible. 00:10:47.15\00:10:48.87 Now over the years much of our outreach 00:10:52.06\00:10:54.09 and ministry has been supported by fundraising 00:10:54.12\00:10:58.31 and in recent times we found that 00:10:58.34\00:11:02.44 the fundraising has become more difficult. 00:11:02.47\00:11:05.14 The need to rely on what we can generate here 00:11:05.17\00:11:09.14 has increased and put pressure on us. 00:11:09.17\00:11:13.44 Since I've been here we've had avocado trees growing 00:11:13.47\00:11:16.62 and we've noticed they are excellent fruit 00:11:16.65\00:11:19.65 and somehow it didn't cross our mind for many years 00:11:19.68\00:11:22.24 that that could be a commercial item. 00:11:22.27\00:11:24.38 There's areas of Tanzania where they grow lot of avocado's 00:11:24.41\00:11:27.46 and we just never got into it, but people started to mention, 00:11:27.49\00:11:31.34 hey, your avocados are much better. 00:11:31.37\00:11:34.33 Now we have about a thousand trees planted 00:11:34.36\00:11:37.73 and we do have another thousand trees in seedlings 00:11:37.76\00:11:41.29 getting ready to be planted. 00:11:41.32\00:11:44.65 I believe that as a self-supporting institution 00:11:44.68\00:11:48.09 we always aim to support ourselves through our industry 00:11:48.12\00:11:52.06 and agriculture has not always been very good here. 00:11:52.09\00:11:55.66 We've tried field crop, wheat, barley, triticale in past years. 00:11:55.69\00:12:01.07 But right now with the possibility of avocados, 00:12:01.10\00:12:03.83 we see potential there for sustaining 00:12:03.86\00:12:07.25 at least part of Kibidula with growing avocados. 00:12:07.28\00:12:12.72 Another project towards self sustainability here 00:12:12.75\00:12:16.12 is the sheep project we've started a couple of years ago. 00:12:16.15\00:12:21.45 We have a lot of land here 00:12:21.48\00:12:23.06 and even though it's not very fertile, 00:12:23.09\00:12:24.96 the grass grows well. 00:12:24.99\00:12:26.79 Sheep eat the grass and so the idea is that 00:12:26.82\00:12:29.59 we could support quite a bit of sheep here 00:12:29.62\00:12:31.68 and in turn sell the sheep and support Kibidula. 00:12:31.71\00:12:35.73 We started with 10 sheep two years ago 00:12:38.82\00:12:43.23 and they worked out great 00:12:43.26\00:12:45.48 so then we increased it slowly overtime. 00:12:45.51\00:12:50.43 The interesting part has being to studying 00:12:50.46\00:12:53.77 to the soil fertility to see also that probably 00:12:53.80\00:12:58.11 people are lacking in the same minerals as the sheep do 00:12:58.14\00:13:02.88 and these might help us to develop new ways of farming, 00:13:02.91\00:13:07.72 so we can help the villagers improve their crops. 00:13:07.75\00:13:11.75 I think working with sheep gives us insight 00:13:11.78\00:13:15.70 into a different culture of herdsmanship 00:13:15.73\00:13:21.90 and that's the Bible culture. 00:13:21.93\00:13:23.49 And working with sheep is something 00:13:23.52\00:13:25.62 that makes you humble 00:13:25.65\00:13:27.72 and realizing that herdsman are the ones 00:13:27.75\00:13:31.73 that God has chosen to announce the arrival of Christ. 00:13:31.76\00:13:36.28 I pictured the same herdsman like the Messiah, 00:13:36.31\00:13:39.72 you know people with not much school education 00:13:39.75\00:13:43.15 but with open heart for nature and for Christ coming. 00:13:43.18\00:13:49.17 Wrong images of God's character 00:13:53.81\00:13:56.24 are routed in wrong thinking patterns. 00:13:56.27\00:13:59.98 Clearly the ability to read the Bible is an invaluable aid 00:14:00.01\00:14:04.73 to forming a right understanding of God's character. 00:14:04.76\00:14:08.84 In a moment, we'll be exploring some other avenues 00:14:08.87\00:14:12.99 that Kibidula is using to accomplish this aim. 00:14:13.02\00:14:17.79 We share the globe with about seven billion people, 00:14:17.82\00:14:23.06 that's a lot of people 00:14:23.09\00:14:24.71 and standing here in this busy city 00:14:24.74\00:14:27.78 it's easy to feel small and insignificant. 00:14:27.81\00:14:31.14 After all, I'm only one person what different can I make? 00:14:31.17\00:14:35.52 But the fact is, each of us can make a difference. 00:14:35.55\00:14:38.82 God is calling us to turn our lives 00:14:38.85\00:14:41.81 and our skills over to Him. 00:14:41.84\00:14:45.12 Around the world the individual workers at OCI Ministries 00:14:45.15\00:14:49.30 are letting God use them to bring hope 00:14:49.33\00:14:51.91 and healing one person at a time. 00:14:51.94\00:14:55.49 You can make a difference too. 00:14:55.52\00:14:58.23 When you connect to OCI, 00:14:58.26\00:15:00.37 you connect to more than 80 ministries worldwide. 00:15:00.40\00:15:05.02 If you're interested in getting involved 00:15:05.05\00:15:07.72 in the global ministry of OCI, 00:15:07.75\00:15:10.33 visit our website or call our office 00:15:10.36\00:15:13.09 we would love to talk to you. 00:15:13.12\00:15:14.86 The team at Kibidula has been using a variety of tools 00:15:18.74\00:15:23.40 to teardown the strongholds 00:15:23.43\00:15:25.34 of the misunderstanding of the nature of God. 00:15:25.37\00:15:28.97 Producing and distributing literature 00:15:29.00\00:15:31.98 is one of the divinely inspired methods 00:15:32.01\00:15:35.08 to bring a clear focus of who God is. 00:15:35.11\00:15:38.41 The printed words I find it's especially effective 00:15:41.63\00:15:45.19 because you know long after will be gone 00:15:45.22\00:15:48.52 that'll still keep preaching wherever it's been scattered. 00:15:48.55\00:15:52.90 Kibidula translates Christian books 00:15:52.93\00:15:56.49 and health books into Swahili 00:15:56.52\00:15:58.92 and has them printed at different printing presses 00:15:58.95\00:16:01.60 in America, in Korea and even here in Tanzania. 00:16:01.63\00:16:05.41 We get one or two complaints per year 00:16:05.44\00:16:08.12 of books to Dar Es Salaam 00:16:08.15\00:16:09.98 and then its stored near that. 00:16:10.01\00:16:12.41 We just built a new facility there 00:16:12.44\00:16:14.73 where we can store the books nicely 00:16:14.76\00:16:16.89 and it's uplifting the country 00:16:16.92\00:16:18.94 and we have a person there in charge 00:16:18.97\00:16:22.02 who delivers the book. 00:16:22.05\00:16:23.49 So whenever there is an order 00:16:23.52\00:16:25.05 he makes it ready and then we ship it from there. 00:16:25.08\00:16:28.59 There are about 2,000 colporteurs 00:16:28.62\00:16:30.82 in Tanzania selling our books 00:16:30.85\00:16:33.60 and so we're able to move quite a large number of books 00:16:33.63\00:16:38.45 and not only is it outreach 00:16:38.48\00:16:41.54 but its outreach that pays for itself. 00:16:41.57\00:16:44.74 We've heard from different areas 00:16:44.77\00:16:46.51 that the whole congregations 00:16:46.54\00:16:49.01 have gotten hold of our literature 00:16:49.04\00:16:51.90 and have been converted to the Adventist faith. 00:16:51.93\00:16:55.39 Evangelism in Tanzania 00:16:55.42\00:16:58.69 like anywhere else has its challenges. 00:16:58.72\00:17:01.23 Here in Tanzania, especially we face 00:17:01.26\00:17:03.62 maybe half the country claims to be Muslim. 00:17:03.65\00:17:07.55 There's a lot of spiritualism and witchcraft 00:17:07.58\00:17:10.01 even within the Seventh-day Adventist Church 00:17:10.04\00:17:11.74 there is a lot of struggles with legalism, 00:17:11.77\00:17:13.90 its just understanding simple justification by faith, 00:17:13.93\00:17:17.11 a simple Gospel of Jesus Christ. 00:17:17.14\00:17:19.34 But here at Kibidula I think that we have been in our light, 00:17:19.37\00:17:24.07 the local community in Tanzania as a whole. 00:17:24.10\00:17:26.82 Some 40-odd students we each here and go, 00:17:26.85\00:17:30.55 back in to Tanzania as graduates from our school of Evangelism 00:17:30.58\00:17:33.70 and their trading companies doing Bible studies, 00:17:33.73\00:17:36.76 starting churches, spreading the gospel. 00:17:36.79\00:17:39.06 Kibidula supports 35 lay evangelists 00:17:39.09\00:17:43.36 and these people are doing the groundwork, 00:17:43.39\00:17:46.23 cutting-edge evangelism, you know, that we want to see. 00:17:46.26\00:17:51.72 So far we have 53 lay missionaries 00:17:51.75\00:17:56.27 who are in remote areas. 00:17:56.30\00:17:59.71 What encourages me? 00:17:59.74\00:18:01.95 It's the heart should be how for their work? 00:18:01.98\00:18:04.93 They are saying we know for sure that God has called us. 00:18:04.96\00:18:08.82 We move forward no mater what, 00:18:08.85\00:18:11.48 that kind of a spirit is from God 00:18:11.51\00:18:15.01 and He's encouraging so much 00:18:15.04\00:18:17.14 that you can keep on praying for them 00:18:17.17\00:18:18.79 that they can continue with their work in those areas. 00:18:18.82\00:18:22.39 The one day churches are simple, 00:18:29.03\00:18:30.98 steel structure that can be put up in a matter of hours 00:18:31.01\00:18:33.91 with no prior site preparation basically. 00:18:33.94\00:18:38.16 Between Maranatha and ASI 00:18:38.19\00:18:41.30 we've been given about 180 one day churches so far. 00:18:41.33\00:18:47.69 It's designed for people who can't effort 00:18:47.72\00:18:49.82 to put up a fancy church structure. 00:18:49.85\00:18:51.95 They can't afford to put a roof on their own church. 00:18:51.98\00:18:55.35 And so here we can come 00:18:55.38\00:18:56.82 and build a church for them in one day 00:18:56.85\00:18:59.28 or in a matter of hours and then in their own time 00:18:59.31\00:19:02.36 they can put up the bricks, the walls, 00:19:02.39\00:19:05.40 the very same day after we put up a church building. 00:19:05.43\00:19:07.80 They can actually start having meetings, 00:19:07.83\00:19:09.32 if there's out of the rain, or they are out of the hot sun 00:19:09.35\00:19:11.97 and it provides good meeting place for them. 00:19:12.00\00:19:15.45 Many people have pointed out to us, 00:19:15.48\00:19:17.37 that as soon as they have the church built interests 00:19:17.40\00:19:21.56 increases in the church, that they suddenly feel like, 00:19:21.59\00:19:26.18 they are part of our real church that's, 00:19:26.21\00:19:28.73 you know, not just a couple of people 00:19:28.76\00:19:29.97 meeting under some trees somewhere 00:19:30.00\00:19:31.77 that the church in general 00:19:31.80\00:19:32.90 is growing at a rapid rate in Tanzania. 00:19:32.93\00:19:35.47 We've hardly been able to touch the need, 00:19:35.50\00:19:37.84 you know, with the 180 churches. 00:19:37.87\00:19:40.49 We have a stack of requests 00:19:40.52\00:19:42.50 and people all over the country want churches. 00:19:42.53\00:19:44.48 They can afford the bricks 00:19:44.51\00:19:45.55 because they make them themselves. 00:19:45.58\00:19:47.32 They can't afford the tin. 00:19:47.35\00:19:48.99 So when we come in and throw up a structure 00:19:49.02\00:19:51.10 and walkway and give them the ten, they just love it. 00:19:51.13\00:19:54.74 It's been a real blessing for Kibidula 00:19:54.77\00:19:57.23 to be part of this project 00:19:57.26\00:19:58.86 because it ties us, you know, 00:19:58.89\00:20:01.20 close to the people out there because the congregations. 00:20:01.23\00:20:03.68 They realize this blesses coming through us 00:20:03.71\00:20:07.52 by way of the one day church. 00:20:07.55\00:20:09.34 They know that you ask Kibidula for one day churches 00:20:09.37\00:20:13.50 and once they know about Kibidula 00:20:13.53\00:20:15.04 and they ask more questions and soon they realize 00:20:15.07\00:20:17.19 we've school of evangelism, we have a school of agriculture, 00:20:17.22\00:20:20.08 we have different programs going on 00:20:20.11\00:20:22.45 and its good PR for Kibidula. 00:20:22.48\00:20:25.25 The best part of building a one day church 00:20:25.28\00:20:27.91 is having a congregation of people that 00:20:27.94\00:20:30.26 they had no church or sub-standard building 00:20:30.29\00:20:32.54 that they are worshiping in 00:20:32.57\00:20:34.30 and to rejoice after having a church finished for them. 00:20:34.33\00:20:37.58 Up to now we don't have a campus church, 00:20:37.61\00:20:40.15 we've been meeting in the community church off campus 00:20:40.18\00:20:43.79 but now I feel the time has come 00:20:43.82\00:20:45.42 that we need a campus church to meet together every Sabbath 00:20:45.45\00:20:49.36 and to draw our staff and our student's altogether, 00:20:49.39\00:20:52.63 keep the vision strong amongst ourselves. 00:20:52.66\00:20:56.59 We've just started construction on a campus church 00:20:56.62\00:20:59.50 that will be large enough to accommodate 00:20:59.53\00:21:01.06 all of our staff and all of our students 00:21:01.09\00:21:04.53 and visitors right here on campus. 00:21:04.56\00:21:07.37 I've been the pilot here since 1994. 00:21:14.19\00:21:18.99 I did the flying in medical services 00:21:19.02\00:21:21.75 and then I got my mechanics license 00:21:21.78\00:21:24.64 so I did the maintenance as well. 00:21:24.67\00:21:28.97 We used to have a medical clinic here 00:21:29.00\00:21:31.25 and so we did village medical programs 00:21:31.28\00:21:35.50 about three days a week we would go to villages 00:21:35.53\00:21:38.03 to the medical clinics in the village. 00:21:38.06\00:21:40.13 We weren't carrying patients 00:21:40.16\00:21:42.03 but we were doing the treatment in the villages. 00:21:42.06\00:21:46.03 Eventually we didn't have a doctor anymore 00:21:46.06\00:21:48.77 and our medical services closed, 00:21:48.80\00:21:51.13 so we started just servicing our lay missionaries 00:21:51.16\00:21:54.99 who live in remote places. 00:21:55.02\00:21:57.68 It became clear that plane was too small 00:21:57.71\00:22:00.85 for the long distances we were traveling. 00:22:00.88\00:22:03.88 So then we started building a four seater plane 00:22:03.91\00:22:07.45 that can also land on short runways. 00:22:07.48\00:22:10.44 And if we ever got medical going again here 00:22:10.47\00:22:14.33 than medical aviation servicing our lay missionaries 00:22:14.36\00:22:17.45 again would be easier, we could carry equipment, 00:22:17.48\00:22:19.85 fly out to village and do some things 00:22:19.88\00:22:21.60 with the missionaries in remote places. 00:22:21.63\00:22:26.32 There's been very little understanding in Tanzania 00:22:26.35\00:22:31.44 of Adventist health message. 00:22:31.47\00:22:34.05 Many people don't understand 00:22:34.08\00:22:35.50 that there actually is a lifestyle 00:22:35.53\00:22:37.73 that can prevent lifestyle diseases 00:22:37.76\00:22:41.51 because even though Africa has been poor 00:22:41.54\00:22:44.02 and has lagged behind the rest of the world 00:22:44.05\00:22:46.22 in many of the western diseases. 00:22:46.25\00:22:48.79 It's coming at a rapid rate and diabetes, 00:22:48.82\00:22:52.41 high blood pressure, heart disease, 00:22:52.44\00:22:54.53 cancer, it's all here now. 00:22:54.56\00:22:57.35 And so we're starting a lifestyle course 00:22:57.38\00:23:02.25 in our training center here 00:23:02.28\00:23:04.28 to teach people principles of health 00:23:04.31\00:23:06.78 and then in turn we would teach them how to teach others. 00:23:06.81\00:23:11.95 Kibidula's Bible workers carry a heavy burden. 00:23:16.01\00:23:19.56 They do a lot of personal evangelism, 00:23:19.59\00:23:22.02 distributing literature, 00:23:22.05\00:23:23.37 giving Bible studies from home to home. 00:23:23.40\00:23:26.15 In addition to this, 00:23:26.18\00:23:27.64 they conduct full-scale evangelistic series, 00:23:27.67\00:23:30.90 often being gone from home for weeks at a time. 00:23:30.93\00:23:34.56 However they don't labor alone, 00:23:34.59\00:23:37.40 with them is the supportive and loving work of their wives. 00:23:37.43\00:23:41.94 These women face special challenges 00:23:41.97\00:23:44.73 in order to meet their needs 00:23:44.76\00:23:46.89 Kibidula invites them back to the campus once a year. 00:23:46.92\00:23:50.67 While here they enjoy the fellowship of other women. 00:23:50.70\00:23:54.09 They receive revival, encouragement 00:23:54.12\00:23:57.06 and special training adapted to their needs. 00:23:57.09\00:24:01.46 We have realized that sometimes 00:24:01.49\00:24:03.69 men will find it very difficult to go if they have got wives 00:24:03.72\00:24:07.06 that don't understand what their calling is. 00:24:07.09\00:24:09.81 So we thought of helping them to understand 00:24:09.84\00:24:12.82 that this responsibility is a team work. 00:24:12.85\00:24:16.26 If a husband and wife can understand their goal, 00:24:16.29\00:24:19.27 the call that God has given them 00:24:19.30\00:24:21.15 then they can give support to one another, 00:24:21.18\00:24:23.10 they can give the encouragement to one another. 00:24:23.13\00:24:25.23 And sometimes just their blend itself would make the husband 00:24:25.26\00:24:29.26 get that which is lacking in himself, 00:24:29.29\00:24:31.38 which the woman couldn't do. 00:24:31.41\00:24:32.80 Usually twice a year we have all our lay missionaries 00:24:32.83\00:24:35.79 from different areas of Tanzania come to Kibidula 00:24:35.82\00:24:38.14 and we spend a weekend with them, 00:24:38.17\00:24:40.17 rubbing shoulders, exchanging ideas 00:24:40.20\00:24:42.65 and they tell us, you know, some of the work 00:24:42.68\00:24:44.59 they have accomplished and we receive their reports. 00:24:44.62\00:24:47.47 This time we decided to invite their wives. 00:24:47.50\00:24:49.90 These wives face challenges that are unique to their situations. 00:24:49.93\00:24:54.67 Here ladies have hard lives, sometimes many little children. 00:24:54.70\00:24:58.91 I've seen and heard often 00:24:58.94\00:25:01.47 where the lady becomes discouraged or tired 00:25:01.50\00:25:04.87 and ultimately it cuts down on the husband's performance. 00:25:04.90\00:25:08.31 My husband goes house-to-house as a missionary 00:25:08.34\00:25:12.84 and gives public meetings at night. 00:25:12.87\00:25:15.98 I'm very happy because even before we were married 00:25:16.01\00:25:18.69 I was doing the same work. 00:25:18.72\00:25:23.00 One of the challenges I face as a wife 00:25:23.03\00:25:25.27 is that my husband is doing this missionary work 00:25:25.30\00:25:28.82 and sometimes there are little results. 00:25:28.85\00:25:31.68 He becomes discouraged and I have to try 00:25:31.71\00:25:34.12 to help him keep moving forward. 00:25:34.15\00:25:37.46 Sometimes we have struggles, not enough money 00:25:37.49\00:25:40.63 or not enough things to meet our needs 00:25:40.66\00:25:43.56 but as we pray and are patience, 00:25:43.59\00:25:45.79 the Lord has always been faithful. 00:25:45.82\00:25:49.65 Even these meetings that are happening right now 00:25:49.68\00:25:52.45 it's like the Lord prepared them especially for me. 00:25:52.48\00:25:55.38 I see the Lord's hand helping to encourage me 00:25:55.41\00:25:57.85 for the challenges I have been facing over the past year. 00:25:57.88\00:26:00.87 It's like He has opened a door 00:26:00.90\00:26:02.56 and He's revealing to me His will 00:26:02.59\00:26:04.51 and how to move forward. 00:26:04.54\00:26:06.56 We are humans, we're all the same, 00:26:06.59\00:26:08.90 we are all going through similar experiences 00:26:08.93\00:26:11.17 and one of the greatest encouragements 00:26:11.20\00:26:14.02 to fellow believers or even non-believers 00:26:14.05\00:26:17.41 is that they can see that there's hope for that person, 00:26:17.44\00:26:21.98 that person's going through a hard time 00:26:22.01\00:26:24.07 and yet there's some power 00:26:24.10\00:26:26.42 that he or she is experiencing and that might lead people 00:26:26.45\00:26:30.13 to inquire about that or ask, you know, why can you go on? 00:26:30.16\00:26:34.47 Where do you find your strength? 00:26:34.50\00:26:36.45 Why is it that you can keep serving in this village 00:26:36.48\00:26:39.33 when everyone's treating you with hostility? 00:26:39.36\00:26:42.51 It's nothing less than a miracle to keep giving of yourself 00:26:42.54\00:26:45.77 and you're not receiving anything back 00:26:45.80\00:26:48.00 and I think that is what the gospel 00:26:48.03\00:26:50.41 correctly understood can do for you. 00:26:50.44\00:26:53.04 A misunderstanding of God's character 00:26:57.38\00:27:00.25 is not restricted to any one region or religion. 00:27:00.28\00:27:04.68 Since the entrance of sin into this world 00:27:04.71\00:27:08.03 the great adversary of souls 00:27:08.06\00:27:10.34 has been doing what he can to misrepresent God. 00:27:10.37\00:27:14.91 Wrong concepts of God bring people into a dark slavery. 00:27:14.94\00:27:20.25 A team at Kibidula is doing what they can 00:27:20.28\00:27:23.98 to free people from that slavery using literature, education, 00:27:24.01\00:27:29.87 evangelism and service to the community. 00:27:29.90\00:27:33.72 They are dispelling the darkness 00:27:33.75\00:27:35.85 of the misapprehension of God. 00:27:35.88\00:27:38.34 You too can be part in this great work. 00:27:38.37\00:27:41.13 Wherever you are you can reflect God's true goodness. 00:27:41.16\00:27:46.94 Please
