We had a wonderful time. 00:11:16.60\00:11:18.57 Yeah, they're a great group, 00:11:18.61\00:11:21.01 and it's reflected 00:11:21.04\00:11:23.45 in the good results they've gotten. 00:11:23.48\00:11:25.58 Yeah, yeah, there are tremendous results. 00:11:25.61\00:11:28.05 And I want to talk about Chuck now 00:11:28.08\00:11:30.49 because Chuck... 00:11:30.52\00:11:32.52 You know, his wife and he came down to visit me, 00:11:32.55\00:11:35.76 prior to them signing up to the program 00:11:35.79\00:11:38.09 'cause they live about two hours away from us, 00:11:38.13\00:11:42.30 and he just seemed like a happy good looking guy 00:11:42.33\00:11:45.37 and his wife was kind of... 00:11:45.40\00:11:48.90 She didn't necessarily have much to say, 00:11:48.94\00:11:51.71 although she came with him. 00:11:51.74\00:11:53.61 Yeah, that's wonderful. 00:11:53.64\00:11:54.98 Isn't that a bit of blessing for him? 00:11:55.01\00:11:56.64 Oh, yeah, she's the heart of that home. 00:11:56.68\00:12:00.58 She's on board now, huh. 00:12:00.62\00:12:02.82 You know, the thing that's interesting, 00:12:02.85\00:12:05.09 the reason why he's here 00:12:05.12\00:12:07.59 is his daughter was here four years ago, 00:12:07.62\00:12:11.93 and she had the gastric bypass surgery, 00:12:11.96\00:12:15.66 and he said that she was in and out of the hospital, 00:12:16.97\00:12:20.30 trying to get her salts right, 00:12:20.34\00:12:22.90 trying to get all the things that she lose 00:12:22.94\00:12:26.68 when all that stuff goes roaring through. 00:12:26.71\00:12:29.31 And after... 00:12:29.34\00:12:30.68 And I didn't know that this would happen, 00:12:30.71\00:12:32.78 but after she went through the program, 00:12:32.81\00:12:35.22 this is four years ago, 00:12:35.25\00:12:36.58 she came to see your folks here 00:12:36.62\00:12:38.72 and that's why they came is because of her. 00:12:38.75\00:12:42.49 She looks great, 00:12:42.52\00:12:44.33 and she hasn't been back to the hospital. 00:12:44.36\00:12:46.13 I mean, 00:12:46.16\00:12:47.50 that's a whole life changer, isn't it? 00:12:47.53\00:12:48.86 That is. 00:12:48.90\00:12:50.23 So anyway, now Charles or Chuck, 00:12:50.27\00:12:54.00 he saw what happened with his daughter 00:12:54.04\00:12:55.80 and he was hoping that 00:12:55.84\00:12:57.41 something like that could happen with him. 00:12:57.44\00:12:59.91 And another thing is that, you know, as you get older, 00:12:59.94\00:13:05.08 you get this intra abdominal fat 00:13:05.11\00:13:07.85 and he probably had some in his liver as well. 00:13:07.88\00:13:10.59 We call that the metabolic syndrome, 00:13:10.62\00:13:13.19 and that's a really big thing 00:13:13.22\00:13:16.16 because, even our high school kids 00:13:16.19\00:13:19.13 are getting it now. 00:13:19.16\00:13:20.50 Do you think that where some of the pain was coming from, 00:13:20.53\00:13:22.80 the liver... 00:13:22.83\00:13:24.17 No, it's just hard to tell, 00:13:24.20\00:13:26.13 but yeah, of course, you know... 00:13:26.17\00:13:29.67 But the thing was is that 00:13:29.70\00:13:31.51 he also had problems with rhythm in his heart. 00:13:31.54\00:13:36.41 And one of the things 00:13:36.44\00:13:39.85 that really, really bothered him 00:13:39.88\00:13:42.72 is that he couldn't do anything because he has something 00:13:42.75\00:13:47.29 Dr. Crane would say it was primary aldosteronism, 00:13:47.32\00:13:52.66 and that means that if you have that... 00:13:52.69\00:13:56.16 I mean, if you have a low potassium, 00:13:56.20\00:13:58.73 you have that until you prove otherwise and, 00:13:58.77\00:14:01.60 you know, he was such a good researcher and everything. 00:14:01.64\00:14:04.51 But so he has these potassium pills that he takes 00:14:04.54\00:14:08.14 and he has to take sodium pills. 00:14:08.18\00:14:10.18 But he was really interesting. 00:14:10.21\00:14:12.15 He still takes... 00:14:12.18\00:14:13.62 He still takes some of the pills 00:14:13.65\00:14:15.75 for his potassium. 00:14:15.78\00:14:17.55 But anyway, 00:14:17.59\00:14:21.16 his potassium has been stable. 00:14:21.19\00:14:24.49 Now the other thing was is that he just 00:14:24.53\00:14:27.23 really, really tanked up on the water, 00:14:27.26\00:14:29.26 and he's looking forward to a certain level procedure 00:14:29.30\00:14:33.44 that they do on men so he can, 00:14:33.47\00:14:36.81 you know, not have to take medicine for that. 00:14:36.84\00:14:39.84 But he was so hydrated that I said, 00:14:39.87\00:14:43.65 I looked at the specific gravity on, 00:14:43.68\00:14:45.75 and I said, 00:14:45.78\00:14:47.75 "Did you fill your urine cup over at the sink?" 00:14:47.78\00:14:51.45 His wife has a good sense of humor. 00:14:51.49\00:14:53.05 She chuckled and suffered. Yeah, right. 00:14:53.09\00:14:56.12 But anyway, 00:14:56.16\00:14:58.39 he is so excited about this because he said, 00:14:58.43\00:15:00.93 "I just haven't felt so good and so, you know, energetic." 00:15:00.96\00:15:06.13 And he was afraid that 00:15:06.17\00:15:09.97 he was diabetic or pre-diabetic 00:15:10.01\00:15:12.17 and he wouldn't turn me loose on that one so. 00:15:12.21\00:15:15.78 Well, he's not on anything for diabetes 00:15:15.81\00:15:19.31 but we did a hemoglobin A1c on him 00:15:19.35\00:15:22.78 and up to like 5.6 around there 00:15:22.82\00:15:28.12 and his was 5.4. 00:15:28.16\00:15:29.59 So I said, just expunge that, 00:15:29.62\00:15:32.79 you don't have type 2 diabetes, 00:15:32.83\00:15:36.73 and he was happy about that. 00:15:36.77\00:15:38.43 But, you know, 00:15:38.47\00:15:40.84 this is the kind of patients that keeps here, you know. 00:15:40.87\00:15:44.31 They get so exuberant and so happy and healthy, 00:15:44.34\00:15:47.84 and then, I'm glad that Dan's going to help us 00:15:47.88\00:15:50.35 so we can follow him up. 00:15:50.38\00:15:51.81 Absolutely. 00:15:51.85\00:15:53.31 You know, I think he's even changed his viewpoint 00:15:53.35\00:15:56.79 on Christians in general. 00:15:56.82\00:15:58.99 Yeah. 00:15:59.02\00:16:00.36 'Cause he had a little bit of resistance there. 00:16:00.39\00:16:02.52 Well, you know, he told me that 00:16:02.56\00:16:04.49 while we were walking away from the cafeteria, 00:16:04.53\00:16:07.26 and he told me, he said, 00:16:07.30\00:16:08.63 you know, when I was in my later teens, 00:16:08.66\00:16:12.07 he said, "I was reading a book called The Desire of Ages." 00:16:12.10\00:16:17.27 And he said, "I read it avidly." 00:16:17.31\00:16:19.44 And he said, "Now that I've been here again, 00:16:19.47\00:16:22.24 and I'm seeing what you folks were saying," 00:16:22.28\00:16:24.85 he said, "I'm going to start reading that book." 00:16:24.88\00:16:28.35 He said, "It is such a blessing." 00:16:28.38\00:16:31.02 Wow! 00:16:31.05\00:16:32.39 That is a blessing. 00:16:32.42\00:16:33.76 Yeah, to us, to him, and to Jesus. 00:16:33.79\00:16:36.62 Amen. 00:16:36.66\00:16:38.29 Well, we're just about out of time, 00:16:38.33\00:16:39.86 any last comment you'd like to make to our guests? 00:16:39.89\00:16:44.33 Yeah. 00:16:44.37\00:16:45.70 Well, when he gets out there, 00:16:45.73\00:16:47.07 he's going to bring some more people in. 00:16:47.10\00:16:48.70 Amen. 00:16:48.74\00:16:50.11 I like that idea. I mean, this is a great guy. 00:18:09.75\00:18:11.69 I actually really like him, you know. 00:18:11.72\00:18:14.86 He's of a different denomination, 00:18:14.89\00:18:16.86 that's great because we have a good mix here usually. 00:18:16.89\00:18:19.49 Yes. 00:18:19.53\00:18:20.86 And, you know, in the beginning, 00:18:20.90\00:18:23.30 he told me this too 00:18:23.33\00:18:26.13 when he first met me, he said, 00:18:26.17\00:18:27.50 "You know, when I first met you, 00:18:27.54\00:18:28.87 I thought I don't know about this guy." 00:18:28.90\00:18:31.31 You know, because pastors and preachers can come off 00:18:34.01\00:18:38.01 usually in negative light sometimes 00:18:38.05\00:18:39.98 in all denominations, struggle with this 00:18:40.02\00:18:42.68 and, you know, he began to share a story 00:18:42.72\00:18:44.42 and he had some really negative experiences 00:18:44.45\00:18:46.86 in the beginning of his Christian life, 00:18:46.89\00:18:48.82 you know, just typical stuff, 00:18:48.86\00:18:51.89 pastors with bad habits or ideas, 00:18:51.93\00:18:55.16 evangelistic... 00:18:55.20\00:18:57.87 You know, just, I mean, 00:18:57.90\00:18:59.33 a lot of people struggle with this, 00:18:59.37\00:19:01.10 and so that can taint your religious experience 00:19:01.14\00:19:04.67 and cause you to be looking, always looking 00:19:04.71\00:19:06.94 and trying to find something different. 00:19:06.98\00:19:09.18 Well, you know, we're seeing that 00:19:09.21\00:19:10.55 with all face, I mean, 00:19:10.58\00:19:12.98 throughout Christianity 00:19:13.01\00:19:14.35 and Muslims and Buddhists, you know. 00:19:14.38\00:19:17.09 But particularly in the limelight, 00:19:17.12\00:19:19.25 there's the Christian, 00:19:19.29\00:19:20.62 the Catholic Church, the Methodist Church, 00:19:20.66\00:19:23.59 this church and that church 00:19:23.63\00:19:25.03 and, you know, this just people are people, 00:19:25.06\00:19:28.23 people are sinful by nature. 00:19:28.26\00:19:29.60 Yeah, you got to realize that 00:19:29.63\00:19:33.87 that when we come to church, people are sinful. 00:19:33.90\00:19:38.24 Jesus said it, right? 00:19:38.27\00:19:39.61 I've not come to call the righteous 00:19:39.64\00:19:41.94 but the sick. 00:19:41.98\00:19:43.31 That's right. 00:19:43.35\00:19:44.68 And so when we go to church 00:19:44.71\00:19:46.21 and a lot of people forget this, 00:19:46.25\00:19:48.52 they go to church 00:19:48.55\00:19:49.88 and their focus is on other people 00:19:49.92\00:19:51.49 and then before you know it, 00:19:51.52\00:19:53.15 you're disgruntled with Christianity. 00:19:53.19\00:19:54.79 You know, I don't want to be like them, but that's, 00:19:54.82\00:19:57.56 you know, we're all there together 00:19:57.59\00:19:58.93 for a reason. 00:19:58.96\00:20:00.30 If our eyes are on Christ, 00:20:00.33\00:20:01.70 then it changes the dynamics 00:20:01.73\00:20:03.87 of my relationship with others, and I realize, 00:20:03.90\00:20:06.47 "Oh, he's messed up as bad as I am." 00:20:06.50\00:20:08.57 So he's... 00:20:08.60\00:20:10.01 You know, I used to be one of those guys 00:20:10.04\00:20:12.81 that look around in the pews, they go, 00:20:12.84\00:20:14.81 "Oh, what is he doing here? 00:20:14.84\00:20:16.18 What is that one doing here?" 00:20:16.21\00:20:17.91 Someone said to me one day, 00:20:17.95\00:20:19.41 "Ron, don't you realize 00:20:19.45\00:20:21.72 the churches are hospitals for sinners?" 00:20:21.75\00:20:25.69 That's right.
