¤ ¤ 00:01:09.63\00:01:10.97 Hi friends and welcome to another edition of NEWSTART Now. 00:01:11.00\00:01:14.30 I'm your host, Ron Giannoni. In our studio today I have a 00:01:14.34\00:01:18.77 young lady all the way from Augusta, Georgia and I'd like 00:01:18.81\00:01:22.91 you to take a look before I give you her name, take a look at 00:01:22.94\00:01:27.02 when she first arrived at our NEWSTART program. 00:01:27.05\00:01:30.39 I am here because I have cancer, I'm diabetic, hypertensive and 00:01:37.83\00:01:40.56 my bones and muscles hurt. Blood pressure medicine, diabetic 00:01:40.60\00:01:43.26 medicine. I got off of the cancer medicine that was making 00:01:43.30\00:01:47.77 me sicker and hopefully when I leave here I won't have to have 00:01:47.80\00:01:52.24 any medicine and I can just run on out of here. 00:01:52.27\00:01:54.54 Welcome back friends. Help me welcome Janice into our studio. 00:01:54.58\00:02:02.15 Thank you. 00:02:02.18\00:02:03.52 Janice you have an amazing story here and although we just broke 00:02:03.55\00:02:09.52 away and saw your first interview, tell us in your own 00:02:09.56\00:02:13.09 words now why you came here. Has anything changed? 00:02:13.13\00:02:16.60 Well I came here because of my breast cancer, the diabetes and 00:02:16.63\00:02:21.84 having problems with my liver and my doctors were about to put 00:02:21.87\00:02:26.14 me on insulin where I would have to shoot myself and I just 00:02:26.17\00:02:31.01 didn't want to do that and I knew that I needed help. And I 00:02:31.05\00:02:34.98 wanted something that would benefit me but not cause me 00:02:35.02\00:02:38.89 other side effects. 00:02:38.95\00:02:40.29 You also had a high blood pressure, right? 00:02:40.32\00:02:43.26 Yes, well the highest my blood pressure's ever been was 236/110 00:02:43.29\00:02:48.86 Something like that. 00:02:48.90\00:02:50.23 Yeah, that's high. And what is is now? 00:02:50.27\00:02:52.03 Well now they run between 104/66 to about 117/68 00:02:52.10\00:03:00.08 something like that. 00:03:00.11\00:03:01.44 So you've got that under control Now what about the diabetes? 00:03:01.48\00:03:05.98 Well my diabetes, when I came here, I was running in the late 00:03:06.01\00:03:10.52 200s to 300s and now this morning without medicine or 00:03:10.55\00:03:14.99 anything it's 122. 00:03:15.02\00:03:16.36 Praise God! So and you've lost some weight. 00:03:16.39\00:03:22.06 I believe so. 00:03:22.10\00:03:24.93 You've lost inches I know. You told me that earlier. 00:03:24.97\00:03:28.20 Definitely. 00:03:28.24\00:03:29.57 Great. Now you're staying for a second session. Yes. That's 00:03:29.60\00:03:35.21 marvelous. And you're staying because? 00:03:35.24\00:03:38.11 This has been the best decision that I've made in my life 00:03:38.15\00:03:42.08 besides I've given my heart to Jesus and I know that if I stay 00:03:42.12\00:03:47.02 longer that I can get right at the levels I want being 00:03:47.06\00:03:51.29 confident that I can continue it 00:03:51.36\00:03:52.96 So did the program meet your expectations? 00:03:52.99\00:03:56.56 Beyond. 00:03:56.60\00:03:57.93 It went beyond? 00:03:57.97\00:03:59.30 It went beyond, yes. I never knew that you can use water 00:03:59.33\00:04:03.94 treatments to fight cancer and I was able to participate in the 00:04:03.97\00:04:09.44 fever reduction and they would just give me a fever and keep 00:04:09.48\00:04:13.21 it for 20 minutes and then cool my body and let me rest and take 00:04:13.25\00:04:18.35 my blood pressure, no, they took my pulse and my temperature 00:04:18.39\00:04:23.83 every five minutes. And I've been going to that treatment 00:04:23.86\00:04:27.06 and I know that those white blood cells are doing what 00:04:27.10\00:04:30.17 they're supposed to do because I feel real strong. I have a lot 00:04:30.20\00:04:33.84 of energy now. When I came I didn't have much energy at all. 00:04:33.87\00:04:36.91 Those fever treatments can be intense. Yes. And what 00:04:36.94\00:04:40.31 you're talking about they submerge you in hot water about 00:04:40.34\00:04:43.98 103, 104 degrees, yes, they raise your body core temperature 00:04:44.01\00:04:48.52 because cancers cannot live in heat and it builds the immune 00:04:48.55\00:04:55.52 system. So you're doing both. Yes. Well I'd say that it's wise 00:04:55.56\00:05:01.53 of you to stay for a second session just to put the icing 00:05:01.56\00:05:06.30 on the cake, so to speak, or the carrot on the lettuce. 00:05:06.33\00:05:12.97 Yes, the beans on the plate. 00:05:13.01\00:05:15.24 Well you're doing great. So when you get home is there 00:05:15.28\00:05:20.28 anything you have planned for your family, your community or 00:05:20.32\00:05:24.55 your church? 00:05:24.59\00:05:25.92 Well first of all as far as my home is concerned I live by 00:05:25.95\00:05:28.42 myself but my God Dad I already asked him to go in 00:05:28.46\00:05:31.49 my cabinet and take out all the chips and the cookies and the 00:05:31.53\00:05:35.53 other stuff that I do not need. Just take it all out and he can 00:05:35.56\00:05:38.93 give it away or whatever so that when I go back home I'll 00:05:38.97\00:05:42.84 be going grocery shopping for the healthy foods and fill the 00:05:42.87\00:05:45.34 cabinet with the healthy foods. Then as far as my church is 00:05:45.37\00:05:49.94 concerned I will become a part of the health team there and 00:05:49.98\00:05:53.42 they're waiting for me to share my experience here because I've 00:05:53.45\00:05:57.29 been talking to them and showing them pictures and they can see 00:05:57.32\00:06:00.66 the difference. 00:06:00.69\00:06:02.49 All right. Now what was your favorite part of this program? 00:06:02.52\00:06:05.33 Well all of it. The spiritual component has been excellent 00:06:05.36\00:06:13.34 and I even got rebaptized and it was because there was more I 00:06:13.37\00:06:19.24 needed to do for God and I want to be stronger and more 00:06:19.27\00:06:22.41 dedicated to his service. Then I've made so many 00:06:22.44\00:06:26.05 wonderful new friends here. And my doctors, I never had a doctor 00:06:26.08\00:06:31.22 that hugged you, doctors that are out there on the ball field 00:06:31.25\00:06:34.72 playing with you and laughing with you and it's just been so 00:06:34.76\00:06:39.09 much love and so much of God everywhere in the whole program. 00:06:39.13\00:06:42.33 It's been the best experience. 00:06:42.36\00:06:45.70 That's so good to hear. I kind of knew that you would say that 00:06:45.73\00:06:48.70 although I never talked to you about it, but a lot of people 00:06:48.74\00:06:53.17 who have come through the program, they say during 00:06:53.21\00:06:57.75 graduation, you know I thought I came here for diabetes but I 00:06:57.78\00:07:01.25 really came here to increase and have a better walk with Jesus 00:07:01.28\00:07:05.55 and it's good to hear you say that. Pastor Damon, we're going 00:07:05.59\00:07:10.53 to interview also. He's a wonderful pastor. Yes. He's 00:07:10.56\00:07:16.43 baptized many people who come through the program. 00:07:16.46\00:07:19.47 Can I just tell you this: This morning I had a blessing because 00:07:19.50\00:07:23.94 I had made my decision to stay but I forgot to notify the 00:07:23.97\00:07:29.18 airport. So today, just this morning, I called. I explained 00:07:29.21\00:07:34.25 my situation and I have a non changeable ticket but the lady 00:07:34.28\00:07:37.92 said, is this a hospital that you're at. I said no it's not 00:07:37.95\00:07:41.09 a hospital. It's a health institute that teaches you how 00:07:41.12\00:07:44.79 to cure cancer and diabetes and other things the natural way. 00:07:44.83\00:07:49.73 She said, really. I said, yes ma'am and I said I'm doing so 00:07:49.76\00:07:53.07 much better and I just want to stay a little longer. I said I 00:07:53.10\00:07:56.24 think it would be better. She said hold on. She put me on hold 00:07:56.27\00:07:59.84 Then she came back on the phone and she said young lady we're 00:07:59.87\00:08:03.55 not going to charge you the $200 She said, so now I need to find 00:08:03.58\00:08:06.72 you need to find you another flight. She said the flight cost 00:08:06.75\00:08:09.48 may be different and higher. But then when she came back on the 00:08:09.52\00:08:13.39 phone she said you know God is blessing you. I've found you a 00:08:13.42\00:08:17.63 flight on American Airlines on September the 20th and you're 00:08:17.66\00:08:21.40 going to get a refund because the flight's cheaper. Amen. 00:08:21.43\00:08:23.97 So I'm just letting you know that I'm doing what God wants 00:08:24.00\00:08:27.10 me to do right now because he's opening all the doors 00:08:27.14\00:08:28.94 for me. 00:08:28.97\00:08:30.31 Praise God. We've run out of time. I want to thank you Janice 00:08:30.34\00:08:34.08 You're welcome. 00:08:34.11\00:08:35.44 But we'll see you in a couple weeks in the next session. 00:08:35.48\00:08:37.58 Don't go away friends because Dr. K will be right with us. 00:08:37.61\00:08:42.78 Help me welcome Dr. Andrew Kuninobo. 00:08:45.99\00:08:48.49 Hi, how you doing? 00:08:48.52\00:08:49.86 I'm doing good. 00:08:49.89\00:08:51.23 Good. It's good to see you. 00:08:51.26\00:08:52.59 It's always good to see you but I haven't seen you in quite a 00:08:52.63\00:08:53.96 while. 00:08:54.00\00:08:55.33 Does seem kind of like it's been a while doesn't it? 00:08:55.36\00:08:56.80 Yeah, well I was away for a few days and then, anyway, 00:08:56.83\00:09:02.00 our jobs take us in different directions. 00:09:02.04\00:09:03.37 That's right, it does. 00:09:03.41\00:09:04.74 I'd like to talk about this young lady. You know, as you've 00:09:04.77\00:09:09.34 just seen her interview she's off her diabetes medications 00:09:09.38\00:09:13.85 is our understanding and cut back on her blood pressure. 00:09:13.88\00:09:22.46 She's staying another session. 00:09:22.49\00:09:23.83 Yes she is. 00:09:23.86\00:09:25.19 Was that by your recommendation? 00:09:25.23\00:09:26.56 Well partly, yes. She had so many different things going on 00:09:26.59\00:09:31.23 the diabetes, high blood pressure, weight, arthritis, 00:09:31.27\00:09:34.67 and then recent diagnosis of cancer on top of it all. 00:09:34.70\00:09:37.64 So that's a lot to be dealing with and probably most important 00:09:37.67\00:09:44.01 development of all though is that she has pretty significant 00:09:44.05\00:09:48.98 past in terms of emotional trauma and that has affected her 00:09:49.02\00:09:54.82 for many, many, many years. And you know she asked me if she 00:09:54.86\00:10:01.76 should stay and I said I thought it would be a good idea, but she 00:10:01.80\00:10:04.07 was the one that was thinking of it. She felt like it would 00:10:04.10\00:10:06.23 really help her. 00:10:06.27\00:10:07.60 Well don't we have someone coming here next week that 00:10:07.64\00:10:10.54 she might hook up with? 00:10:10.57\00:10:13.48 Yeah, actually we do, the academy has a speaker coming 00:10:13.51\00:10:16.54 and the speaker who's coming is going to be talking about some 00:10:16.58\00:10:19.45 of the very things that she's had challenges with in the past. 00:10:19.48\00:10:23.79 And God has brought her a long way with the healing in that 00:10:23.82\00:10:27.29 area of her life. But there's still room for some more healing 00:10:27.32\00:10:31.13 there and because that's kind of this gentleman's area of 00:10:31.16\00:10:34.83 specialty, I just kind of see God working things out. 00:10:34.86\00:10:37.40 You know, timing is everything. And God has impeccable timing. 00:10:37.43\00:10:41.84 Ha, I wish I'd have said that. We could name this show God Has 00:10:41.87\00:10:47.74 Impeccable Timing. 00:10:47.78\00:10:49.11 Well we actually could. Not just for Janice, but for every 00:10:49.14\00:10:56.99 session we have we're just impressed by the way God works 00:10:57.02\00:11:00.79 on people at the time that they need it and brings them to 00:11:00.82\00:11:05.56 NEWSTART when it's needed the most. We've had people that have 00:11:05.59\00:11:08.80 been delayed in coming and then came right at the right time 00:11:08.83\00:11:11.70 because they met up with people that were instrumental in what 00:11:11.73\00:11:16.10 they needed. For example, there was one session that we had, of 00:11:16.14\00:11:19.71 all things, I think people from, what country was it the 00:11:19.74\00:11:26.15 language they spoke, from the middle east, I've forgotten. Now 00:11:26.18\00:11:28.22 was it Egyptian maybe or something. I've forgotten. 00:11:28.25\00:11:32.62 Ethiopia maybe. 00:11:32.65\00:11:33.99 Maybe I don't know if was Ethiopia, but anyway whoever it 00:11:34.02\00:11:35.69 was it was about a year ago. It was amazing how God brought 00:11:35.72\00:11:39.23 a couple and another couple, totally didn't know each other, 00:11:39.26\00:11:43.97 at the same time and they both needed to be here at the same 00:11:44.00\00:11:47.27 because they spoke the same language. 00:11:47.30\00:11:50.04 Yeah, I remember that. 00:11:50.07\00:11:51.41 They made a tie of friendship and especially the one couple 00:11:51.44\00:11:54.88 really needed the ones that were more bilingual to be here at 00:11:54.91\00:11:58.28 that time. You know, it wasn't something that we have commonly 00:11:58.31\00:12:03.25 like Spanish or Portuguese or something like that. It was 00:12:03.28\00:12:06.22 middle eastern. I don't know if it was Farsi. It was quite 00:12:06.25\00:12:09.72 amazing that that happened that was, but it happens at every 00:12:09.76\00:12:12.29 session that God puts these groups together and so I know 00:12:12.33\00:12:18.53 there are probably some viewers that have had road blocks 00:12:18.57\00:12:20.24 sometimes come up. Trust God that there are reasons for why 00:12:20.27\00:12:23.71 things happen in the timing that it does happen. 00:12:23.74\00:12:26.37 His timing seems to be a little different than ours. 00:12:26.41\00:12:29.01 Oh yes it is. 00:12:29.04\00:12:30.38 And most better. 00:12:30.41\00:12:32.65 Yeah speaking of when it comes to health and the other side of 00:12:32.68\00:12:36.65 that some people get blessings so rapidly and immediately. 00:12:36.69\00:12:40.66 You know they come here 20 years on a medication and in two weeks 00:12:40.69\00:12:43.73 they're off the medication and their numbers are perfect. 00:12:43.76\00:12:46.53 Then we have other people who come here and they do everything 00:12:46.56\00:12:54.77 and just tiny little changes you know are taking place. 00:12:54.80\00:12:58.07 Isn't that something? 00:12:58.11\00:12:59.44 And God knows who needs a miracle at the time it happens 00:12:59.47\00:13:05.31 but he also knows those that he is working with something else 00:13:05.35\00:13:10.95 in their life. In fact that just happened to one of our guests 00:13:10.99\00:13:13.79 this time. They said, this is my second time here. The first time 00:13:13.82\00:13:18.36 God gave me a miracle. Completely took away all 00:13:18.39\00:13:20.30 cravings for cigarettes the first day I was here. I never 00:13:20.33\00:13:22.86 smoked since. I've never smoked since. And she said but this 00:13:22.90\00:13:26.70 time I can see that he's working on my character because 00:13:26.74\00:13:30.31 he's trying to teach me patience and perseverance. Wow! And she 00:13:30.34\00:13:36.38 said you know it's a different blessing but it's a blessing 00:13:36.41\00:13:38.58 nonetheless. And she recognized that the second day she was 00:13:38.61\00:13:41.68 here. So God's timing is different from ours. Yes. 00:13:41.72\00:13:46.45 There's an old book that was written when I was growing up 00:13:46.49\00:13:50.66 that said Lord give me patience but hurry up about it. 00:13:50.69\00:13:52.96 Do it now will you. 00:13:52.99\00:13:58.57 But when it comes to our health the great physician knows what's 00:13:58.60\00:14:02.60 best for us and his timing is impeccable. 00:14:02.64\00:14:04.77 I know that you doctors, both yourself, Dr. Gallant and 00:14:04.81\00:14:10.95 Dr. Lukens pray with our guests. Is this typical in the medical 00:14:10.98\00:14:18.25 profession? 00:14:18.29\00:14:19.62 Well it wasn't typical in most of the medical world I "grew" 00:14:19.65\00:14:22.89 up in that I practiced in for most of my life and yes in my 00:14:22.92\00:14:27.16 early days in school it wasn't very typical, but the longer 00:14:27.20\00:14:34.30 I've been in practice the more I realize that the great 00:14:34.34\00:14:37.94 physician is needed in the exam room and at the decision making 00:14:37.97\00:14:43.35 process and most of all in the patient's life more than 00:14:43.38\00:14:46.15 anything else. 00:14:46.18\00:14:48.95 That's what happened to me when I came here. My doctor prayed 00:14:48.98\00:14:51.89 with me and prayed with me and that's what drew me to Christ. 00:14:51.92\00:14:55.56 But I want to thank you. We've run out of time, but thank you 00:14:55.59\00:14:59.86 so much. 00:14:59.89\00:15:01.23 My pleasure Ron. 00:15:01.26\00:15:02.60 God bless you. 00:15:02.63\00:15:03.97 Hope to see you soon. 00:15:04.00\00:15:05.33 But friends don't go away because Pastor Damon's up next. 00:15:05.37\00:15:08.34 When you look at the health status of American's today it's 00:15:10.44\00:15:13.07 alarming to see that 60 percent are either overweight or obese. 00:15:13.11\00:15:18.15 In addition, diseases such as type II diabetes, cancer and 00:15:22.12\00:15:26.42 heart disorders are the leading cause of so many complications 00:15:26.45\00:15:30.03 and deaths every year. 00:15:30.06\00:15:31.69 Could it have something to do with what we eat. After all 00:15:35.83\00:15:39.10 every one in four Americans visits a fast food restaurant 00:15:39.13\00:15:42.24 daily and with such easy access to quick fixes we tend to forget 00:15:42.27\00:15:47.24 the poor health values those foods actually offer. Maybe it's 00:15:47.28\00:15:51.95 the sedentary lifestyle and lack of exercise that we've become 00:15:51.98\00:15:55.65 so accustomed to as a media dependent world. Whatever the 00:15:55.68\00:15:59.15 cause of these diseases a solution has arrived. 00:15:59.19\00:16:04.16 The NEWSTART Lifestyle Center offers an enriching program 00:16:04.19\00:16:08.03 where patients can get a healing of mind, body and soul. 00:16:08.06\00:16:11.43 Located in the outskirts of Sacramento, the NEWSTART Center 00:16:11.47\00:16:15.90 is situated on the beautiful campus of Weimar Center of 00:16:15.94\00:16:18.87 Health and Education with scenic walking and hiking trails all 00:16:18.91\00:16:23.58 around. With the whole plant foods eaten whole motto the 00:16:23.61\00:16:27.95 NEWSTART Center promotes a healthy plant-based diet with 00:16:27.98\00:16:31.55 an emphasis on natural foods. The NEWSTART staff are made up 00:16:31.59\00:16:35.12 of California board certified nurses, doctors, dietitians and 00:16:35.16\00:16:40.16 therapists who work together to assist each patient 00:16:40.20\00:16:44.07 personally. The staff are dedicated to each patient's 00:16:44.10\00:16:46.13 success in the program and are always there to guide, advise 00:16:46.17\00:16:50.81 and encourage. In addition to a healthy lifestyle NEWSTART also 00:16:50.84\00:16:54.71 promotes a healthy exercise routine. You're both in 00:16:54.74\00:16:57.25 sequence. That's good. All right. As part of a balanced 00:16:57.28\00:17:00.82 program there is much opportunity to get in a fair 00:17:00.85\00:17:03.55 share of physical activities from utilizing our fitness 00:17:03.59\00:17:07.19 center to taking a stroll around the peaceful grounds of 00:17:07.22\00:17:11.06 Weimar. It's amazing what a new start can do for you. 00:17:11.09\00:17:13.96 Welcome back friends. Help me welcome Pastor Snead. 00:17:16.26\00:17:20.34 Good to see you brother. 00:17:20.37\00:17:21.70 Thank you friend. 00:17:21.74\00:17:23.37 You know I'm excited talking about this young lady because 00:17:23.41\00:17:27.58 she's excited and that excites me when I see someone come 00:17:27.61\00:17:31.28 through the program that's pretty beaten up and it seemed 00:17:31.31\00:17:36.62 apparent to me that she was flogged majorly throughout her 00:17:36.65\00:17:41.69 life. Now she's got a different attitude to the degree that 00:17:41.72\00:17:51.33 she's staying for another session. That's a smart decision 00:17:51.37\00:17:55.07 She's been healed I know in many ways but what I'd like to talk 00:17:55.10\00:18:00.51 to you 00:18:00.54\00:18:01.88 about Damon is the spiritual healing that she's experiencing. 00:18:01.91\00:18:07.15 Yeah, now she fooled me at first because she's so bubbly 00:18:07.18\00:18:11.25 and joking and full of laughter. She's just a wild card. And I 00:18:11.29\00:18:16.93 never would have guessed that she was harboring a lot of pain 00:18:16.96\00:18:21.33 from childhood and if you've listened to her story she wrote 00:18:21.36\00:18:25.97 that book The Sun Still Shines Through Broken Panes or 00:18:26.00\00:18:29.97 broken glass or something like that. And she's got a traumatic 00:18:30.01\00:18:35.61 life story, but she comes here and she's all happy. You know, 00:18:35.64\00:18:41.45 going through the wheel of faith going through each one of those 00:18:41.48\00:18:43.69 and when I get to the one on forgiveness and confession, you 00:18:43.72\00:18:47.46 know, to be free, to be dead to self, she lit up on that one, 00:18:47.49\00:18:54.40 you know, emotionally. And on that sermon I will invite people 00:18:54.43\00:19:02.10 to be rededicated if that's what they would like to do and be 00:19:02.14\00:19:05.17 rebaptized as part of, you know, this is part of how we're healed 00:19:05.21\00:19:07.61 is to let go of the past. And that was something that she 00:19:07.64\00:19:11.71 needed to go through. She needed to let go of all of that baggage 00:19:11.75\00:19:16.99 those feelings of unworthiness, abandonment. And as she did that 00:19:17.02\00:19:23.26 you could see her life immediately begins to 00:19:23.29\00:19:27.30 change. You know, attitude, like you said. She's got this whole 00:19:27.33\00:19:30.73 new attitude about life and, of course, the health plays into 00:19:30.77\00:19:35.37 that. You know, the eating good, the feeling better, the getting 00:19:35.40\00:19:38.27 the sleep and getting away from all the stimulants. But the 00:19:38.31\00:19:41.18 spiritual is what took over with her and you could really see a 00:19:41.21\00:19:46.28 different attitude. 00:19:46.31\00:19:47.95 Yeah, that really came out in our interview. Not so much the 00:19:47.98\00:19:52.79 first one but the second one we just did. She's one that I could 00:19:52.82\00:20:00.73 see taking this program and taking it back home and being 00:20:00.76\00:20:06.10 an angel to many, many people and a shepherd, if you will. 00:20:06.13\00:20:10.71 Yeah, and the fact that she wants to come back is pretty 00:20:10.74\00:20:15.21 interesting and she said something to me that stuck in 00:20:15.24\00:20:18.48 my head about this is that it's all new and she's got this 00:20:18.51\00:20:22.98 newness of life now, this new direction. She's letting go of 00:20:23.02\00:20:25.95 the past. She's got a new spiritual outlook, a new 00:20:25.99\00:20:29.02 emotional outlook, a new health outlook but it's all fragile. 00:20:29.06\00:20:32.36 It's like it's new and that's why she's going to pay again and 00:20:32.39\00:20:36.16 come again because she now wants to just ground herself in it. 00:20:36.20\00:20:41.10 She doesn't want to lose it, it means that much to her. 00:20:41.14\00:20:43.41 That's a wise choice. 00:20:43.44\00:20:45.61 And she told me that. She said you know it's another X amount 00:20:45.64\00:20:49.01 of dollars and another chunk of time of my life but what is that 00:20:49.04\00:20:53.01 in comparison to your well being your eternal life, your health. 00:20:53.05\00:20:57.72 What's three weeks and another couple of grand. What does that 00:20:57.75\00:21:00.26 matter really when the results and the payoff are so tremendous 00:21:00.29\00:21:05.49 for the rest of your life. You know she still a relatively 00:21:05.53\00:21:09.06 young woman. 00:21:09.10\00:21:11.47 Yeah relatively she is young especially to me. Well she's 00:21:11.50\00:21:18.27 doing great and I know she's going to continue doing good and 00:21:18.31\00:21:23.51 I know that you and Dr. Andrew are working with her. She's 00:21:23.55\00:21:29.62 going to come the rest of the way that she needs, she needs. 00:21:29.65\00:21:34.59 I don't think, I don't know what she needs but God does and he's 00:21:34.62\00:21:38.79 bringing her back and he's planted that seed in her heart 00:21:38.83\00:21:42.23 and she does loves everybody here, which I think is not 00:21:42.26\00:21:47.80 unusual but good to hear especially from someone who 00:21:47.84\00:21:51.54 wants to return. Because she's never experienced the kind of 00:21:51.57\00:21:55.04 love that is shared, not only with staff here but with other 00:21:55.08\00:22:01.42 guests. 00:22:01.45\00:22:02.78 Sure and we talked about it in our break for a second. That's 00:22:02.82\00:22:05.29 like par for the course at Weimar. A lot of people have 00:22:05.32\00:22:08.36 told you that, that they feel this love and that love is a 00:22:08.39\00:22:12.53 healing. It lets you open up. It let's you share. That's an added 00:22:12.56\00:22:17.77 atmosphere out here that people don't expect to have. 00:22:17.80\00:22:20.84 Amen. We've run out of time brother. Good to see you. 00:22:20.87\00:22:24.91 Thanks for coming in. I know you're busy. But friends don't 00:22:24.94\00:22:29.04 go away, we've got an important message following this. 00:22:29.08\00:22:31.75 ¤ ¤ 00:22:36.05\00:23:07.78 Welcome to Weimar Institute Research. We're very glad you've 00:23:07.82\00:23:11.92 joined us today and I am with Dr. Eddie Ramirez, our director 00:23:11.95\00:23:17.73 of Weimar Institute Research as well as the professor in our 00:23:17.76\00:23:21.70 college that teaches research method. And this is a study 00:23:21.73\00:23:27.07 where again our students were involved in analyzing the data 00:23:27.10\00:23:31.41 of thousands of individuals and going through with a fine 00:23:31.44\00:23:37.08 tooth comb certain aspects that we're looking for in certain 00:23:37.11\00:23:40.38 groups. And this is actually a study that comes from those 00:23:40.42\00:23:45.35 who went through the NEWSTART program. And so Dr. Ramirez 00:23:45.39\00:23:49.72 tell us about this group. 00:23:49.76\00:23:51.46 Yes, This particular sub group of those patients the arteries 00:23:51.49\00:23:58.00 to the brain start to get plugged in. There's less blood 00:23:58.03\00:24:02.27 flow and those people are at really high risk for things like 00:24:02.30\00:24:05.61 stroke. That we call carotid stenosis when that closure of 00:24:05.64\00:24:10.91 those arteries happens. Many people who have this don't even 00:24:10.95\00:24:13.75 realize it; not until an ultra sound or some other study goes 00:24:13.78\00:24:17.95 and texts that there is closure of those arteries. 00:24:17.99\00:24:22.29 Yeah, often they don't find out until the end result happens and 00:24:22.32\00:24:26.49 that's the stroke. And I see that so often in my hospital 00:24:26.53\00:24:31.60 medicine days. I still do some hospital medicine two or three 00:24:31.63\00:24:35.87 days a week and in ICU and just about every time I'm there I'm 00:24:35.90\00:24:40.28 treating stoke victims who thought they were healthy. 00:24:40.31\00:24:43.98 Maybe they thought they have a little blood pressure problem 00:24:44.01\00:24:46.31 or cholesterol problem but they had no idea stroke was in the 00:24:46.35\00:24:50.05 works and it was because of this atherosclerosis that had 00:24:50.09\00:24:54.69 developed. 00:24:54.72\00:24:56.06 In fact, here in America, we call it an area of America the 00:24:56.09\00:24:59.06 stroke belt because there is a big incidence of stroke in that 00:24:59.09\00:25:04.03 particular area which happens to be close to the south in 00:25:04.07\00:25:07.94 America. Due to their lifestyle that they have there they have 00:25:07.97\00:25:11.54 very high risk of ending up with stroke, which, as you know, is 00:25:11.57\00:25:15.14 something that really drops the life of the person, not able to 00:25:15.18\00:25:19.35 speak, not able to walk and these type of problems. 00:25:19.38\00:25:21.28 Yeah, many of them end up in nursing homes. They go from 00:25:21.32\00:25:24.65 being a healthy individual who was an active member of society 00:25:24.69\00:25:28.72 and family to now being a cripple in a nursing home or 00:25:28.76\00:25:34.96 needing to be taken care of, if they're not in a nursing home, 00:25:35.00\00:25:38.33 at home on an intense basis. And so for anyone viewing this 00:25:38.37\00:25:45.57 whatever you can do to reduce your risk of stroke is well 00:25:45.61\00:25:49.18 worth it. Today we're going to find out something that we can 00:25:49.21\00:25:53.28 do, that we can all practically do, to reduce our risk of this 00:25:53.31\00:25:57.12 devastating disease. So we actually took a look at the 00:25:57.15\00:26:02.99 group that had carotid stenosis. This is a significant blockage 00:26:03.02\00:26:09.26 in their carotids and I know for years we have analyzed people's 00:26:09.30\00:26:15.00 carotid arteries when they come into our program and we can see 00:26:15.04\00:26:18.84 the evidence of this atherosclerosis. 00:26:18.87\00:26:21.18 First of all, why might that atherosclerosis be there even 00:26:21.21\00:26:26.21 before they enter the program Dr. Ramirez. 00:26:26.25\00:26:27.58 So due to their behavior, wrong type of diet, wrong management 00:26:27.62\00:26:31.55 of stress, not enough exercise, that stimulates the 00:26:31.59\00:26:35.49 atherosclerosis and the artery starts to close and that 00:26:35.52\00:26:40.76 decreases dramatically the blood flow especially to the brain in 00:26:40.80\00:26:45.53 this particular study we were focusing on that. But the good 00:26:45.57\00:26:48.37 news that we have today is that this is a reversible condition. 00:26:48.40\00:26:53.14 Nice. And what happened as a result of the 18 days here? 00:26:53.17\00:26:57.85 So what were seeing were some of the risk factors. So the 00:26:57.88\00:27:01.52 weight went down for five pounds difference by the end of the 18 00:27:01.55\00:27:07.82 day program which is good. You know they're starting to lose 00:27:07.86\00:27:09.86 weight. That decreases the inflammation and other important 00:27:09.89\00:27:13.03 factors for atherosclerosis. Their total cholesterol went 00:27:13.06\00:27:18.00 down more than 20 points on average which is very good also 00:27:18.03\00:27:23.51 the fact that we didn't increase the statins that's not the 00:27:23.54\00:27:26.24 reason why but because of the change of the diet and the 00:27:26.27\00:27:29.24 exercise and so forth. And especially the bad cholesterol which is one of the 00:27:29.28\00:27:35.08 villains that caused the problem in the first place, we can see 00:27:35.12\00:27:39.45 that there was a 20-point drop in that bad cholesterol which is 00:27:39.49\00:27:44.13 really good news for somebody with this condition. 00:27:44.16\00:27:46.63 So coming to NEWSTART not only reduces your risk of heart 00:27:46.66\00:27:52.07 attack but can help your fitness level and asthma and those sorts 00:27:52.10\00:27:55.00 of things, but it can also reduce your risk of stroke or 00:27:55.04\00:27:59.21 help those with carotid stenosis to actually have better 00:27:59.24\00:28:02.24 circulation to their brain. 00:28:02.28\00:28:03.61 So don't wait. If you know somebody with this condition 00:28:03.65\00:28:07.85 this is the place to be. 00:28:07.88\00:28:09.22 Send them to NEWSTART Now and thank you for tuning in to 00:28:09.25\00:28:14.32 Weimar Institute Research. 00:28:14.36\00:28:16.62 ¤ ¤ 00:28:16.66\00:28:25.07
