Hi, friends. 00:00:57.29\00:00:58.62 Welcome to another edition of NEWSTART Now. 00:00:58.65\00:01:01.22 I am your host Ron Giannoni. 00:01:01.26\00:01:03.49 In our studio with me today is David Byrkit, 00:01:03.53\00:01:06.49 all the way from East Coast. 00:01:06.53\00:01:08.43 I'd like you take a look at when David first arrived. 00:01:08.46\00:01:11.30 Well, when I went to the doctor over the last six months or so, 00:01:14.70\00:01:18.84 they've been noticing that 00:01:18.87\00:01:20.21 my blood pressure has been fairly high, 00:01:20.24\00:01:23.81 and my sugar levels have been too high, 00:01:23.85\00:01:28.95 in the 300s plus consistently. 00:01:28.98\00:01:32.89 And so when they talked to me, 00:01:32.92\00:01:36.02 they said there were several things 00:01:36.06\00:01:39.19 that could be done, 00:01:39.23\00:01:40.56 one is, we can go on medicine, and I asked for how long, 00:01:40.60\00:01:43.53 and they said for the rest of my life. 00:01:43.57\00:01:45.93 And I said, "Man, I am not sure I want to do that." 00:01:45.97\00:01:49.70 "Well, if you don't take that, in two to three years, 00:01:49.74\00:01:51.94 you'll probably need to go on dialysis." 00:01:51.97\00:01:55.08 And I didn't want that either. 00:01:55.11\00:01:57.05 Those were the two options I had 00:01:57.08\00:01:58.51 but I had heard about Weimar out here 00:01:58.55\00:02:01.32 and decided, you know, 00:02:01.35\00:02:03.42 let's see if this third option works well, 00:02:03.45\00:02:07.46 and so I'm here. 00:02:07.49\00:02:09.29 I'd like to see my blood sugars normalized. 00:02:09.32\00:02:11.23 I'd like to see my blood pressure 00:02:11.26\00:02:12.66 come down to normal. 00:02:12.69\00:02:15.83 And I kind of want to continue to have some time 00:02:15.86\00:02:21.40 to spend with my Lord while I'm out here too. 00:02:21.44\00:02:25.54 Welcome back friends. Amen. 00:05:44.81\00:05:46.47 So glad to hear you say that. 00:05:46.51\00:05:48.51 I think most of us here, 00:05:48.54\00:05:51.68 I'd say all of us here are dedicated to do God's work. 00:05:51.71\00:05:56.18 I believe that. 00:05:56.22\00:05:57.55 And He's working through us 00:05:57.59\00:05:59.65 to help heal our hurting world basically, 00:05:59.69\00:06:03.12 and you're one of thousands of people 00:06:03.16\00:06:06.09 who've come through here, 00:06:06.13\00:06:07.76 hundreds at least that I've interviewed 00:06:07.80\00:06:10.37 and seeing God will, 00:06:10.40\00:06:14.37 and we praise God for that. 00:06:14.40\00:06:16.81 So what can you say to our viewers 00:06:16.84\00:06:21.08 that might encourage them to take that next step 00:06:21.11\00:06:25.21 to get here and get well? 00:06:25.25\00:06:29.35 I would say there's a significant amount 00:06:29.38\00:06:31.35 of misinformation in the world, 00:06:31.39\00:06:36.26 significant misinformation 00:06:36.29\00:06:38.63 telling us what to do and to not do. 00:06:38.66\00:06:43.00 It's interesting to be able to come here 00:06:43.03\00:06:44.53 and see the studies that actually demonstrate 00:06:44.57\00:06:47.77 scientifically what is right, 00:06:47.80\00:06:53.14 and then being able to take that 00:06:53.17\00:06:54.58 and implement it on a day-to-day basis, 00:06:54.61\00:06:57.75 working through it, seeing the transformation. 00:06:57.78\00:07:01.12 I'm particularly pleased with an increase 00:07:01.15\00:07:04.69 in what I would consider mental acuity 00:07:04.72\00:07:07.72 which I'm most grateful for. 00:07:07.76\00:07:11.83 You know, that's interesting that you said that 00:07:11.86\00:07:13.93 because I often talk to people on the phone, 00:07:13.96\00:07:19.47 and they'll say, "Well, I saw on the internet, 00:07:19.50\00:07:22.74 I googled this or I googled that," 00:07:22.77\00:07:25.01 and you know, 00:07:25.04\00:07:26.37 I just got to tell the viewers that 00:07:26.41\00:07:28.48 you can't believe everything you read on the internet, 00:07:28.51\00:07:31.65 or everything you google. 00:07:31.68\00:07:34.78 There's a lot of truth out there. 00:07:34.82\00:07:36.79 But sometimes, it's intertwined with not the truth, 00:07:36.82\00:07:42.06 and so people are misled. 00:07:42.09\00:07:44.19 And I was raised in a time where everybody needs milk, 00:07:44.23\00:07:50.00 and you better use the real butter, 00:07:50.03\00:07:52.87 and you better have meat every day, 00:07:52.90\00:07:55.20 only to find out that none of that's true. 00:07:55.24\00:07:57.54 Yeah. 00:07:57.57\00:07:58.91 So thank you for saying that, 00:07:58.94\00:08:01.34 and so now what's gonna change when you get home? 00:08:01.38\00:08:06.92 I am determined by the grace of God 00:08:06.95\00:08:10.12 to do what I know to be the best 00:08:10.15\00:08:13.82 for myself physically, for myself mentally, 00:08:13.86\00:08:16.62 and particularly for myself spiritually, 00:08:16.66\00:08:19.39 make sure I spend time with God, 00:08:19.43\00:08:21.60 make sure I spend time in His Word, and praying, 00:08:21.63\00:08:25.13 and then telling other people 00:08:25.17\00:08:28.10 about some of the stuff I learned too. 00:08:28.14\00:08:31.17 But you are a pastor. 00:08:31.21\00:08:32.54 I know you pastor two churches, right? 00:08:32.57\00:08:34.91 That's correct. 00:08:34.94\00:08:36.31 Weren't you already doing some of those things? 00:08:36.34\00:08:39.21 Yeah, absolutely. 00:08:39.25\00:08:40.88 I want to do it more, and I want to do it better. 00:08:40.92\00:08:44.25 Is that the answer? 00:08:44.29\00:08:47.36 I think so. 00:08:47.39\00:08:48.72 Yeah. 00:08:48.76\00:08:50.33 I feel that it is for me too, David. 00:08:50.36\00:08:54.00 I just want our viewers to hear that too 00:08:54.03\00:08:56.77 because without God, we can do nothing. 00:08:56.80\00:08:58.50 No. 00:08:58.53\00:08:59.87 A lot of people who are watching this program 00:08:59.90\00:09:01.74 don't realize that but our prayer today 00:09:01.77\00:09:05.14 is that perhaps they wake up, if you will, 00:09:05.17\00:09:09.84 maybe that's too strong or too harsh a words, 00:09:09.88\00:09:13.42 but you know, I was a heathen till I came here, 00:09:13.45\00:09:17.95 and then God blessed me, so. 00:09:17.99\00:09:21.82 It would be wonderful 00:09:21.86\00:09:23.19 if each person has an opportunity 00:09:23.22\00:09:24.76 to learn additional information to augment the knowledge 00:09:24.79\00:09:30.07 that we have, that we grow up with 00:09:30.10\00:09:33.10 so that we can live an optimal life. 00:09:33.13\00:09:35.50 Yeah. 00:09:35.54\00:09:36.87 That's what I desire for each and every person. 00:09:36.91\00:09:39.37 Amen. 00:09:39.41\00:09:40.78 David, I want to thank you for taking your time. 00:09:40.81\00:09:43.11 Thank you. Yes, we do. 00:12:02.52\00:12:04.59 Well, you know, he is the first to admit that. 00:12:04.62\00:12:06.49 He's on this spiritual path, not just as a pastor, 00:12:09.82\00:12:15.33 there's a difference here 00:12:15.36\00:12:16.70 because pastors, 00:12:16.73\00:12:18.07 they all got this spiritual, you know, down, 00:12:18.10\00:12:20.80 but the personal one I am talking about. 00:12:20.84\00:12:24.01 So I think... 00:12:24.04\00:12:26.01 I want to add too, that is so crucial for health, 00:12:26.04\00:12:30.25 to have your spirituality in tune with God 00:12:30.28\00:12:34.65 because that's what helps to keep you healthy. 00:12:34.68\00:12:37.19 Amen. Amen. 00:12:37.22\00:12:39.29 So you know, I am excited 00:12:39.32\00:12:43.59 for what the future holds for him. 00:12:43.63\00:12:45.79 I really believe that he is making changes 00:12:45.83\00:12:49.00 and it's gonna be a blessing. 00:12:49.03\00:12:50.97 I have a burden for pastors 00:12:51.00\00:12:53.84 because I believe that they are under attack. 00:12:53.87\00:12:58.47 You know, if the enemy can keep a pastor 00:12:58.51\00:13:03.51 concentrating on his health, 00:13:03.55\00:13:06.25 then he can't be shepherding the sheep. 00:13:06.28\00:13:11.49 You know, I have a similar burden, 00:13:11.52\00:13:13.82 not for that exact reason, but whenever I hear of a pastor 00:13:13.86\00:13:18.33 who wants to come to the NEWSTART program, 00:13:18.36\00:13:20.73 this is for any pastors watching, we help them, 00:13:20.76\00:13:24.17 you know, we have a scholarship fund. 00:13:24.20\00:13:25.77 Right, we do. 00:13:25.80\00:13:27.14 If there's money in there, 00:13:27.17\00:13:28.50 I'm gonna reach out and help them. 00:13:28.54\00:13:29.87 Absolutely. Absolutely. 00:13:29.90\00:13:31.24 And also advice them to call the local conference 00:13:31.27\00:13:34.11 and get them to help too 00:13:34.14\00:13:35.48 because many of the conferences will chip in. 00:13:35.51\00:13:38.41 And you know, we're starting to see 00:13:38.45\00:13:40.48 that conferences are doing more of their own self insurance 00:13:40.52\00:13:45.92 because insurance is so expensive these days. 00:13:45.95\00:13:49.49 Oh, boy. 00:13:49.52\00:13:50.86 And I think that's one of the biggest expenses 00:13:50.89\00:13:53.06 that conferences have. 00:13:53.09\00:13:55.20 And I believe by God's grace, 00:13:55.23\00:13:58.47 coming through the program and changing their lifestyle 00:13:58.50\00:14:01.47 can decrease the expense to the conference 00:14:01.50\00:14:04.41 for medications and things like that. 00:14:04.44\00:14:06.47 So I really think that it's a way 00:14:06.51\00:14:09.31 to be a win-win for everybody. 00:14:09.34\00:14:11.65 You know, and most recently, 00:14:11.68\00:14:13.58 I guess in the last couple of years, 00:14:13.62\00:14:15.88 I've heard that Kaiser 00:14:15.92\00:14:17.92 is heading in that direction as well. 00:14:17.95\00:14:20.46 They seemed to be, 00:14:20.49\00:14:21.86 and they definitely have an interest in health 00:14:21.89\00:14:23.76 and I know that 00:14:23.79\00:14:25.16 Adventist health is heading in that direction, 00:14:25.19\00:14:27.96 having an interest in health. 00:14:28.00\00:14:29.76 And even Pastor Byrkit said that his conference, 00:14:29.80\00:14:35.74 they are starting a new program 00:14:35.77\00:14:38.54 where the more you do to be healthy, 00:14:38.57\00:14:40.84 the less you have to pay for insurance. 00:14:40.88\00:14:44.08 Smart. Yeah. 00:14:44.11\00:14:45.45 I think that's a no-brainer. It makes sense. 00:14:45.48\00:14:46.82 Yeah, it makes sense. 00:14:46.85\00:14:48.38 So yeah, I think that this is a way 00:14:48.42\00:14:51.65 to put your body in the right condition 00:14:51.69\00:14:54.32 so that God can heal it for you. 00:14:54.36\00:14:56.09 Amen. 00:14:56.12\00:14:57.69 So now David's off all his mediation I understand. 00:14:57.73\00:15:00.43 Yes. 00:15:00.46\00:15:01.80 And it's my opinion, 00:15:01.83\00:15:04.03 I don't know if you'll agree that he is... 00:15:04.07\00:15:07.50 I think his head's in a better place, 00:15:07.54\00:15:09.84 and I think he's good to go now. 00:15:09.87\00:15:12.17 Yeah, I think so. 00:15:12.21\00:15:13.54 And I also want us to keep in touch with him 00:15:13.58\00:15:17.15 a little bit better. 00:15:17.18\00:15:18.51 We were talking for a while 00:15:18.55\00:15:19.88 after he's here about three years ago, 00:15:19.91\00:15:21.75 and then just didn't get to correspond as much. 00:15:21.78\00:15:27.32 I really believe 00:15:27.36\00:15:28.69 in the accountability, as you know, 00:15:28.72\00:15:30.53 I have you come see me regularly 00:15:30.56\00:15:32.23 because I find that when people have to talk 00:15:32.26\00:15:35.36 or interact with the doctor, 00:15:35.40\00:15:37.33 it gives a level of accountability 00:15:37.37\00:15:39.13 and holds them true to cause, right? 00:15:39.17\00:15:42.20 Yeah, well, you're right 00:15:42.24\00:15:43.74 because I didn't want to come to you 00:15:43.77\00:15:45.11 and say, "Well, I didn't do this or do that." 00:15:45.14\00:15:48.14 Right. Right. 00:15:48.18\00:15:49.51 Yeah, you're so right on. 00:15:49.54\00:15:51.45 I agree 100%. 00:15:51.48\00:15:53.58 You know, having his son work in your office 00:15:53.62\00:15:56.48 didn't hurt either. 00:15:56.52\00:15:57.85 No, that's for sure. 00:15:57.89\00:15:59.22 Because when I came to see you, he said to me, 00:15:59.25\00:16:01.39 "Hey, my dad needs to come back. 00:16:01.42\00:16:03.19 You got to give him a good deal." 00:16:03.22\00:16:04.56 I said, "I gave him a good deal last time." 00:16:04.59\00:16:06.19 Yeah, that's right. Anyway. 00:16:06.23\00:16:08.40 No, and actually, his son is going to... 00:16:08.43\00:16:11.37 He's planning on moving back home with him, 00:16:11.40\00:16:13.84 and that will be an additional layer of accountability 00:16:13.87\00:16:16.97 to help them with their lifestyle change at home. 00:16:17.01\00:16:20.21 He's gonna do some studies from home. 00:16:20.24\00:16:21.71 So that's a blessing too. 00:16:21.74\00:16:23.45 He'll be out on 100%, you know that. 00:16:23.48\00:16:25.71 Yes, he will. He's a good guy. 00:16:25.75\00:16:27.08 Yes, he is. 00:16:27.12\00:16:28.45 Both, he and his son, actually. 00:16:28.48\00:16:29.82 Yeah, Daniel is a good boy, yeah. 00:16:29.85\00:16:31.19 Yeah. 00:16:31.22\00:16:32.55 Well, anything, any last words before we close? 00:16:32.59\00:16:36.16 Well, I just want to say that 00:16:36.19\00:16:39.73 the choices we make and the things we do 00:16:39.76\00:16:41.53 have a profound impact on our health. 00:16:41.56\00:16:44.07 And people who've been here before 00:16:44.10\00:16:46.33 or even people who have never been here, 00:16:46.37\00:16:49.14 take that into account, think about what you're doing, 00:16:49.17\00:16:52.97 and what it may be doing to you. 00:16:53.01\00:16:55.21 We are here to help you. We would love to help you. 00:16:55.24\00:16:57.38 If you would love to come and see us, 00:16:57.41\00:16:59.55 I believe by God's grace, can show you things 00:16:59.58\00:17:02.35 that can be life changing. 00:17:02.38\00:17:04.15 Amen. 00:17:04.19\00:17:05.95 Thank you, Doc. Good to see you. 00:17:05.99\00:17:07.49 It's always good to see you. 00:17:07.52\00:17:09.29 And thank you, friends. 00:17:09.32\00:17:10.66 But don't go away 00:17:10.69\00:17:12.03 'cause Pastor Damon Snead is up next. 00:17:12.06\00:17:15.03 Welcome back, friends. 00:17:18.20\00:17:19.53 Help me welcome 00:17:19.57\00:17:20.90 Pastor Snead Damon, to say the least. 00:17:20.94\00:17:24.04 Yes, sir. 00:17:24.07\00:17:25.41 And it's always good to talk to you 00:17:25.44\00:17:27.78 because when I talk to you, 00:17:27.81\00:17:29.48 I always walk away feeling better. 00:17:29.51\00:17:33.21 I know that, maybe you don't always 00:17:33.25\00:17:35.02 walk away feeling better, but I do. 00:17:35.05\00:17:38.12 I just had to say that to you. 00:17:38.15\00:17:40.46 But let's talk about David. 00:17:40.49\00:17:42.42 David is a pastor as you are. 00:17:42.46\00:17:45.03 He's pastoring two churches. 00:17:45.06\00:17:49.10 Is he going home well equipped? 00:17:49.13\00:17:52.13 Oh, I think so. 00:17:52.17\00:17:53.77 And he is going home with a freshness of mind 00:17:53.80\00:17:57.11 as he said earlier, he talked about it, 00:17:57.14\00:17:59.97 I asked him today, "What's your big takeaway?" 00:18:00.01\00:18:02.28 And it was the clarity of mind. 00:18:02.31\00:18:04.75 And from a pastoral point of view 00:18:04.78\00:18:06.11 or any kind of ministry, 00:18:06.15\00:18:07.48 that's a big deal to have a sharp mind, 00:18:07.52\00:18:10.72 to be focused at all times, to be able to be in your Bible 00:18:10.75\00:18:15.06 at the right moment and the right text, 00:18:15.09\00:18:16.96 and he was talking about that. 00:18:16.99\00:18:18.66 He just, he could tell the difference between now 00:18:18.69\00:18:22.06 and the last time that he was here, 00:18:22.10\00:18:23.47 and that interim where he's gotten away 00:18:23.50\00:18:25.70 from health program 00:18:25.73\00:18:27.67 and difference in his brain is significant. 00:18:27.70\00:18:32.51 And you can tell that, you know? 00:18:32.54\00:18:34.71 Oh, yeah, I mean, three years ago, he was here. 00:18:34.74\00:18:37.98 I mean, he did all right. 00:18:38.01\00:18:39.61 But only this time, 00:18:39.65\00:18:40.98 because he didn't do all right while he was gone, 00:18:41.02\00:18:43.99 he backslid a little bit, 00:18:44.02\00:18:45.75 he picked up a little bit of diabetes 00:18:45.79\00:18:49.09 which he didn't have the first go around. 00:18:49.12\00:18:52.23 Yeah, that's always, and see, that's the red flag thing. 00:18:52.26\00:18:54.90 You just kind of, you get a second chance 00:18:54.93\00:18:57.17 but you come back a little more broken, 00:18:57.20\00:18:58.90 and then a little more broken, and didn't, 00:18:58.93\00:19:01.57 you know, from a pastor's point of view, 00:19:01.60\00:19:03.74 you don't want that. 00:19:03.77\00:19:05.11 You know, you've got to have vitality, strength, energy. 00:19:05.14\00:19:09.71 This is so important that we have our health 00:19:09.74\00:19:13.28 to keep us going in ministry. 00:19:13.31\00:19:15.28 But we see that in pastors all over the country. 00:19:15.32\00:19:18.79 They don't look healthy. 00:19:18.82\00:19:20.86 They're so busy taking care of the flock 00:19:20.89\00:19:23.73 that they're letting their own health 00:19:23.76\00:19:26.83 go to waste so to speak. 00:19:26.86\00:19:28.93 Yeah, they're robbing Peter to pay Paul. 00:19:28.96\00:19:30.47 They are taking care of the moment now, 00:19:30.50\00:19:32.50 you know, a quick fix, a quick meal, junk food, 00:19:32.53\00:19:35.37 caffeine, whatever 00:19:35.40\00:19:36.74 but eventually, in David's case, 00:19:36.77\00:19:39.01 it's gonna catch you, 00:19:39.04\00:19:40.58 and you're gonna start realizing, 00:19:40.61\00:19:41.94 especially when you're preaching 00:19:41.98\00:19:43.31 and you're out of breath, and you're tired, 00:19:43.35\00:19:44.68 and you don't feel good, and you get cranky, 00:19:44.71\00:19:46.41 and all of those things 00:19:46.45\00:19:47.78 that you do not want as a pastor 00:19:47.82\00:19:49.58 when you're dealing with people. 00:19:49.62\00:19:50.95 Yeah. 00:19:50.99\00:19:52.32 And that's what'll happen if you let it go, 00:19:52.35\00:19:54.66 and you're right, 00:19:54.69\00:19:56.02 so many of our pastors 00:19:56.06\00:19:57.39 denomination wide and in all denominations 00:19:57.43\00:19:59.79 are suffering from lifestyle, you know, issues 00:19:59.83\00:20:02.90 that's affecting their ministry and they know it. 00:20:02.93\00:20:06.50 Well, I'm so glad or happy I should say for David 00:20:06.53\00:20:11.17 because it looks like 00:20:11.21\00:20:12.74 he's going back better equipped than the last time he left. 00:20:12.77\00:20:16.91 Last time was almost like. 00:20:16.95\00:20:19.81 He didn't really engage that deeply. 00:20:19.85\00:20:22.55 This time, man, he's in, hook, line, and sinker. 00:20:22.58\00:20:25.85 Yeah, he's a great guy. 00:20:25.89\00:20:28.26 He's got a lot of enthusiasm about going home, 00:20:28.29\00:20:30.93 he was telling me, 00:20:30.96\00:20:32.29 "I got this plan, I'm gonna do this, 00:20:32.33\00:20:34.60 and this thing, and that thing," 00:20:34.63\00:20:37.43 and that only comes from a mind that's refreshed and energized, 00:20:37.47\00:20:41.80 where rather than dreading your workload, 00:20:41.84\00:20:44.44 you can't wait to tackle it, 00:20:44.47\00:20:46.24 and that's one of the good things 00:20:46.27\00:20:47.61 I've seen with him. 00:20:47.64\00:20:48.98 He's ready to go back and just get into the fight. 00:20:49.01\00:20:51.45 And before this, you know, he's run down, 00:20:51.48\00:20:54.22 his batteries are uncharged, he's feeling bad, 00:20:54.25\00:20:58.39 the workload is depressive. 00:20:58.42\00:21:00.42 It's just amazing how this lifestyle thing 00:21:00.46\00:21:03.89 can flip the way you feel and think 00:21:03.93\00:21:06.33 and affect your ministry, positively or negatively. 00:21:06.36\00:21:10.20 You know, friends, if this sounds familiar to you, 00:21:10.23\00:21:14.54 you could pick up the phone 00:21:14.57\00:21:15.90 and call 800-525-9192, 00:21:15.94\00:21:21.94 and I'll get that call, and we'll get you out here 00:21:21.98\00:21:25.21 and get you on a fast track to NEWSTART 00:21:25.25\00:21:29.35 'cause many of you do need a new start, 00:21:29.38\00:21:32.35 and not just ministers, thousands, 00:21:32.39\00:21:35.56 perhaps millions that are watching 00:21:35.59\00:21:37.69 need that new start. 00:21:37.73\00:21:39.23 But if you think you're too far gone, you're not, 00:21:39.26\00:21:41.63 you're never too far gone. 00:21:41.66\00:21:43.63 Where God is concerned, 00:21:43.67\00:21:45.30 He'll pick you up from where you are. 00:21:45.33\00:21:47.74 You just got to take the first step. 00:21:47.77\00:21:49.90 So pick up that phone. 00:21:49.94\00:21:51.81 Anything you say to that? 00:21:51.84\00:21:53.44 I think it's a great idea. 00:21:53.48\00:21:55.51 You know, I'm partial to pastors, but anybody, 00:21:55.54\00:21:58.91 I mean, if you got heavy mental workload 00:21:58.95\00:22:01.68 that you're dealing with, this is the way to keep fresh, 00:22:01.72\00:22:04.52 keep at the top of your game, 00:22:04.55\00:22:07.39 and if you've been watching David around here, 00:22:07.42\00:22:09.29 he's been being a pastor, we're out of scenes. 00:22:09.32\00:22:11.73 He's been, I've been catching him 00:22:11.76\00:22:13.43 praying with people, preaching, 00:22:13.46\00:22:15.36 talking, encouraging, 00:22:15.40\00:22:17.33 and that's in the second week, 00:22:17.37\00:22:18.70 first week, he was a little kind of low and slow, 00:22:18.73\00:22:20.87 little run down, 00:22:20.90\00:22:22.24 but by the second week, man, he's fired back up. 00:22:22.27\00:22:25.37 We got to get a pastor in every session 00:22:25.41\00:22:27.14 just to do the same, probe the troops. 00:22:27.18\00:22:29.94 That's right. 00:22:29.98\00:22:31.31 We're out of time, Brother. 00:22:31.35\00:22:32.85 Good to see you. 00:22:32.88\00:22:35.48 We'll see you soon though. 00:22:35.52\00:22:36.92 Don't go away friends. 00:22:36.95\00:22:38.29 We got a very important message coming up. 00:22:38.32\00:22:41.56 Welcome to Weimar Institute Research. 00:23:15.12\00:23:18.13 Glad you've joined us today for something that I think 00:23:18.16\00:23:21.10 you're going to find very exciting. 00:23:21.13\00:23:23.83 We have analyzed here at Weimer Institute Research 00:23:23.87\00:23:27.14 with our head of research, Dr. Eddie Ramirez. 00:23:27.17\00:23:30.71 Dr. Ramirez is not only our head of research, 00:23:30.74\00:23:34.74 but he also teaches research methods at the college, 00:23:34.78\00:23:37.81 and we have many of our students 00:23:37.85\00:23:40.02 now getting published in the scientific literature, 00:23:40.05\00:23:42.78 one of our students got published 00:23:42.82\00:23:44.35 as a result of this study, Spencer Freed, 00:23:44.39\00:23:47.72 who just got accepted into a medical school, 00:23:47.76\00:23:51.09 and we're glad that he was able to participate in research 00:23:51.13\00:23:55.96 even at the premed level here. 00:23:56.00\00:23:58.37 But we're particularly interested 00:23:58.40\00:24:00.64 in not heart disease which a lot of people think 00:24:00.67\00:24:04.44 is our main emphasis at NEWSTART, 00:24:04.47\00:24:07.21 which it is, it is a primary emphasis, 00:24:07.24\00:24:09.24 we can't ignore the circulation, 00:24:09.28\00:24:11.31 and the arteries, and those types of things, 00:24:11.35\00:24:13.95 but we were looking at something else 00:24:13.98\00:24:15.48 in this study, Dr. Ramirez, tell us what it is? 00:24:15.52\00:24:17.92 We're focusing on those patients 00:24:17.95\00:24:19.65 that have gone through the NEWSTART program 00:24:19.69\00:24:21.82 that have the diagnosis of asthma. 00:24:21.86\00:24:24.09 Okay. 00:24:24.13\00:24:25.59 So asthma, that's a lung disease. 00:24:25.63\00:24:28.40 And this is where 00:24:28.43\00:24:29.76 your bronchial tubes become constricted, 00:24:29.80\00:24:32.80 and you actually start producing music, 00:24:32.83\00:24:36.27 music that you don't want to produce, 00:24:36.30\00:24:38.31 it's called wheezing. 00:24:38.34\00:24:39.91 And you can hear people 00:24:39.94\00:24:41.51 wheezing across the room sometimes 00:24:41.54\00:24:43.35 when they have an asthma attack, 00:24:43.38\00:24:44.71 when they breathe in and when they breathe out, 00:24:44.75\00:24:46.61 it's called inspiratory wheezes and expiratory wheezes, 00:24:46.65\00:24:50.49 and it can be a life threatening situation. 00:24:50.52\00:24:52.45 And some people don't realize 00:24:52.49\00:24:53.99 that their lifestyle has a big effect 00:24:54.02\00:24:57.13 on the triggering of those asthma symptoms. 00:24:57.16\00:25:00.80 They often don't. 00:25:00.83\00:25:02.16 They think it's just kind of random 00:25:02.20\00:25:03.63 and out of the blue. 00:25:03.67\00:25:05.40 But lifestyle is very crucial. 00:25:05.43\00:25:08.04 And this study actually showed 00:25:08.07\00:25:10.84 that asthma can even be reversed 00:25:10.87\00:25:13.81 by improvement in lifestyle. 00:25:13.84\00:25:15.58 That's right. 00:25:15.61\00:25:16.95 So tell us a little bit about this group? 00:25:16.98\00:25:19.11 That's right. 00:25:19.15\00:25:20.48 So what we found out is that from our 2000 plus patients 00:25:20.52\00:25:24.42 that have gone through 00:25:24.45\00:25:25.79 our 11 years of NEWSTART program, 00:25:25.82\00:25:29.72 66 had the diagnosis of asthma. 00:25:29.76\00:25:33.53 And there's some measurement that we take 00:25:33.56\00:25:36.06 in which the patient does exercise together 00:25:36.10\00:25:39.57 with heart measurements, we call that stress test, 00:25:39.60\00:25:43.61 and that tells us the fitness of the patient 00:25:43.64\00:25:46.68 in a number that is called the METS 00:25:46.71\00:25:49.78 and we were seeing 00:25:49.81\00:25:51.35 what effect does the NEWSTART program have 00:25:51.38\00:25:55.02 on that METS measurement. 00:25:55.05\00:25:57.42 Does their fitness actually increase 00:25:57.45\00:26:00.16 because they are able to do more exercise, 00:26:00.19\00:26:02.12 because their blood circulation improves, 00:26:02.16\00:26:04.13 because their immunity improves, 00:26:04.16\00:26:05.83 this is actually an immune problem, 00:26:05.86\00:26:07.86 that's why it was published in the Journal of Immunology 00:26:07.90\00:26:10.97 this particular study. 00:26:11.00\00:26:12.33 Okay. 00:26:12.37\00:26:13.70 So it did get published 00:26:13.74\00:26:15.07 in a Peer Review Scientific Literature, Immunology. 00:26:15.10\00:26:18.21 And what did we find out now 00:26:18.24\00:26:20.88 in result of going through these 66 asthma patients 00:26:20.91\00:26:25.38 that were wheezing? 00:26:25.41\00:26:26.75 Coming to NEWSTART, where they're told to exercise 00:26:26.78\00:26:29.82 and asthmatics think exercise is even worse for them 00:26:29.85\00:26:32.79 because often it gets their condition worse. 00:26:32.82\00:26:35.79 Did it worsen while they were at Weimar? 00:26:35.82\00:26:37.53 They actually did the opposite. 00:26:37.56\00:26:38.89 It actually had tremendous improvement 00:26:38.93\00:26:41.90 from a METS, from 8.38, 00:26:41.93\00:26:45.10 the higher the METS, the better. 00:26:45.13\00:26:47.34 By the end of those 18-day intervention, 00:26:47.37\00:26:51.97 it went up to 9.6 which is very, very good 00:26:52.01\00:26:56.24 because if you reach a METS of 10, 00:26:56.28\00:26:59.11 you can see they're very good MET measurements. 00:26:59.15\00:27:03.08 Okay, so you're at very good fitness levels. 00:27:03.12\00:27:05.59 So these people couldn't really be fit 00:27:05.62\00:27:07.26 before they came to the program, 00:27:07.29\00:27:09.39 but they were right on the border of good fitness 00:27:09.42\00:27:12.36 in just 18 days by adjusting their diet, lifestyle, 00:27:12.39\00:27:17.37 controlling their stress, and the other benefits 00:27:17.40\00:27:19.57 of coming to the NEWSTART program. 00:27:19.60\00:27:21.34 So that tells us that their immune system 00:27:21.37\00:27:23.41 actually got stronger, 00:27:23.44\00:27:24.91 and their immune system started working properly, 00:27:24.94\00:27:28.08 not overreacting and causing this asthmatic crisis, 00:27:28.11\00:27:31.61 and they were able to do more exercise 00:27:31.65\00:27:34.08 and increase their fitness. 00:27:34.12\00:27:35.65 And so now we have firm evidence 00:27:35.68\00:27:37.65 that's been published 00:27:37.69\00:27:39.45 that Weimar Institute will not only help 00:27:39.49\00:27:42.39 if you have advanced diabetes, or heart disease, 00:27:42.42\00:27:46.59 or circulation problems, 00:27:46.63\00:27:48.83 but it will also help if you have asthma. 00:27:48.86\00:27:52.50 And so I would encourage you, 00:27:52.53\00:27:54.04 if you know anyone who has asthma, 00:27:54.07\00:27:56.37 one of the best if not the best therapy 00:27:56.40\00:27:58.57 that you can give them is 18 days at NEWSTART. 00:27:58.61\00:28:02.94 And I would encourage you 00:28:02.98\00:28:04.51 to consider coming to NEWSTART Now, 00:28:04.55\00:28:08.65 and then stay tuned for our next segment 00:28:08.68\00:28:11.75 of Weimar Institute Research. 00:28:11.79\00:28:14.26
