00:00:01.36\00:01:11.13
Hi friends. Welcome to NEWSTART
Now. I'm your host Ron Giannoni.
00:01:11.17\00:01:16.64
I want to introduce you to Cathy
Estes, all the way from Sunhill,
00:01:16.67\00:01:22.94
Oregon. Let's break
away when she first arrived.
00:01:22.98\00:01:25.11
I would like to be stronger,
physically stronger and my blood
00:01:25.15\00:01:36.79
sugar is creeping up and I do
not want to be diabetic. I would
00:01:36.83\00:01:42.93
like to have my diet and my
exercise program in my life so
00:01:42.96\00:01:52.67
that it will prevent or, yeah,
preventative. Yes I have people
00:01:52.71\00:02:00.92
in my family who are diabetic.
00:02:00.95\00:02:05.99
Welcome back friends.
Cathy how are you doing?
00:02:06.02\00:02:10.59
Much better.
00:02:10.63\00:02:11.96
I know. So I want the truth to
come out always on this program
00:02:11.99\00:02:16.26
and the truth is you came here
to support your husband. So you
00:02:16.30\00:02:22.27
came here; you were prediabetic.
You were a little heavier than
00:02:22.30\00:02:28.71
you are today. How much
weight did you lose, by the way?
00:02:28.74\00:02:31.58
Nine and a half pounds.
00:02:31.61\00:02:33.92
Nine and a half pounds. Yeah.
OK good. Now you know to weigh
00:02:33.95\00:02:40.32
every morning at a special
time during the morning. Every
00:02:40.36\00:02:43.89
morning if you want to check
your weight. Yeah. How about the
00:02:43.93\00:02:46.63
diabetes? Are you
still prediabetic?
00:02:46.66\00:02:49.06
No, my numbers,
they're totally normal.
00:02:49.10\00:02:55.00
Great. Yeah. Now were you able
to walk around the half mile
00:02:55.04\00:02:58.91
loop when you got here?
Yes. And how are you doing now?
00:02:58.94\00:03:04.08
Well I have my
energy, that's for sure.
00:03:04.11\00:03:06.82
More energy?
00:03:06.85\00:03:08.18
More energy.
00:03:08.22\00:03:09.55
Now how many miles
are you walking per day?
00:03:09.58\00:03:11.75
A couple miles a day.
00:03:11.79\00:03:14.02
A couple miles. Yeah. Good.
00:03:14.06\00:03:17.26
Now what did you like most
about the NEWSTART program?
00:03:17.79\00:03:21.40
I liked the whole balance aspect
of it because we came, we were
00:03:21.43\00:03:30.84
able to eat delicious food that
was healthy. We were able to
00:03:30.87\00:03:36.71
with some guidelines, we were
able to do better on when we ate
00:03:36.75\00:03:44.39
how we ate, what we ate.
It convinced me because I felt
00:03:44.42\00:03:50.13
better, my numbers came into
the normal range. Then we had
00:03:50.16\00:03:56.00
cooking classes, so I saw how
easy it was. You know, just have
00:03:56.03\00:04:01.84
to change ingredients and change
what I do to be able to keep
00:04:01.87\00:04:08.81
this up. So it a very, very
totalistic, whatever, program
00:04:08.84\00:04:15.38
because... It convinced me.
My first meal I was satisfied.
00:04:15.42\00:04:20.79
I always have a good appetite
and I did not get hungry before
00:04:20.82\00:04:25.33
the next meal.
00:04:25.36\00:04:26.70
I like the word you used,
balance. That is a good word.
00:04:26.73\00:04:31.07
Now in the balancing I know
you saw a doctor. Who was your
00:04:31.10\00:04:36.24
doctor?
00:04:36.27\00:04:37.61
Dr. Gallant.
00:04:37.64\00:04:38.97
Dr. Gallant. And
how did he do for you?
00:04:39.01\00:04:41.68
Oh, he was very nice. Not only
did we meet together certain
00:04:41.71\00:04:45.25
times for appointments but he
and other members of the staff
00:04:45.28\00:04:49.18
ate with us. So when we
had questions then we were just
00:04:49.22\00:04:53.15
conversing over our meal and we
could ask about different things
00:04:53.19\00:04:58.29
that we weren't sure, because
they give a lot of information.
00:04:58.33\00:05:01.90
It is like, it's overwhelming.
00:05:01.93\00:05:05.50
Wow, information overload.
00:05:05.53\00:05:06.94
But they repeat, they encourage
so it was totally doable and it
00:05:06.97\00:05:14.44
was done in a very organized and
nice way. And as we were going
00:05:14.48\00:05:18.51
through the program I
kept thinking, wow, they really
00:05:18.55\00:05:22.58
thought this through because
it was convincing just by my
00:05:22.62\00:05:29.06
experience; I was convinced.
00:05:29.09\00:05:31.39
Well they're great
supporters for you.
00:05:31.43\00:05:34.53
Yeah, very good support and
there's also a chaplain in the
00:05:34.56\00:05:42.17
program that gives very nice
devotional meetings and he had
00:05:42.20\00:05:53.08
some insights from the Bible
that I had never realized before
00:05:53.11\00:05:58.45
He's a special guy.
00:05:58.49\00:06:01.22
He is and God has brought him
through a lot of things and he
00:06:01.26\00:06:07.26
really spoke and, and...
00:06:07.30\00:06:13.00
We're going to interview him
next and see what he has to say
00:06:13.03\00:06:17.07
about you. It's all good I know.
We don't reveal anything that
00:06:17.11\00:06:24.78
we shouldn't, but from the
Christian perspective you know.
00:06:24.81\00:06:30.82
So you had worship every morning
with him and you had one-on-one
00:06:30.85\00:06:38.13
consultation with him.
00:06:38.16\00:06:39.49
Right. And we had
beautiful piano music. We had...
00:06:39.53\00:06:45.33
With Irwin?
00:06:45.37\00:06:46.80
With Irwin. It was wonderful.
he gave such insight into the
00:06:46.84\00:06:51.31
people who wrote the songs
and the history of the songs and
00:06:51.34\00:06:55.94
he's a wonderful pianist
and it was very inspiring.
00:06:55.98\00:07:01.48
He is a concert pianist.
Yes... He is very accomplished
00:07:01.52\00:07:05.05
for a young man. Yes.
00:07:05.09\00:07:07.36
How wonderful to have him
come and start our morning.
00:07:07.39\00:07:12.16
Yes, yes. You know it really is
wonderful that God has brought
00:07:12.19\00:07:16.90
so many people together who are
servants of his and they display
00:07:16.93\00:07:25.37
such love that only could come
from God's presence. And I see
00:07:25.41\00:07:32.01
that every day. I get to be
there every day to witness that.
00:07:32.05\00:07:36.85
Yeah, lucky you. It seemed like
a lot of the people weren't just
00:07:36.89\00:07:39.95
professors or weren't just
teachers; they themselves have
00:07:39.99\00:07:44.89
been helped by this program
and that's why they have such
00:07:44.93\00:07:48.76
passion and this is their
ministry. This is what they do.
00:07:48.80\00:07:54.94
And I would be one of them.
00:07:54.97\00:07:56.30
Yes, you'd be one of them. Yes
I remember when we talked on the
00:07:56.34\00:07:59.71
phone and you said I was a
participant, I was a guest.
00:07:59.74\00:08:05.88
Yeah. Now what about the fast?
You did the fast or did not?
00:08:05.91\00:08:09.58
I did. You did? I did a fast.
00:08:09.62\00:08:12.85
How was that?
00:08:12.89\00:08:14.22
Well you know I said sure I'll
do a fast. I wanted to support
00:08:14.26\00:08:17.03
my husband. But that was a
key part of why I got such good
00:08:17.06\00:08:24.70
results from my health issues.
I've actually had digestive
00:08:24.73\00:08:32.01
problems for 30 years.
00:08:32.04\00:08:34.14
I remember you sharing that.
00:08:34.18\00:08:35.91
And the fast just reset my
body and I have been on a very
00:08:35.94\00:08:44.39
restricted diet, restricted
from the things I loved.
00:08:44.42\00:08:48.86
Cauliflower and broccoli are my
favorite foods and I just... and
00:08:48.89\00:08:53.03
beans. And after the fast I
thought well I might as well try
00:08:53.06\00:08:57.63
so I tried and totally tolerated
totally enjoyed, yeah so, that
00:08:57.67\00:09:04.11
was a really important part
for me even though I didn't know
00:09:04.14\00:09:08.94
that it was, that it would be.
00:09:08.98\00:09:11.31
I knew that it was because I
shared it with you. Nonetheless
00:09:11.35\00:09:14.98
we're out of time.
00:09:15.02\00:09:16.35
That's fine, it has
been great talking with you.
00:09:16.38\00:09:18.19
I want to thank you so much.
God bless you and thank you
00:09:18.22\00:09:21.52
for your willingness. Friends
don't go away. Pastor Snead is
00:09:21.56\00:09:26.19
up next.
00:09:26.23\00:09:27.56
¤ ¤
00:09:31.47\00:10:02.80
Welcome back
friends. Damon how are you?
00:10:02.83\00:10:06.43
I'm doing well my friend.
00:10:06.47\00:10:07.80
Good. I want to get right to
Catherine. We know that there's
00:10:07.84\00:10:15.01
a spiritual battle and you being
the chaplain, you deal with that
00:10:15.04\00:10:21.48
with a lot of our guests. How is
Catherine doing with regards to
00:10:21.52\00:10:27.39
that battle?
00:10:27.42\00:10:29.02
The spiritual battle?
Well Catherine was one of these
00:10:29.06\00:10:31.59
ladies that came to us very
excited about everything, and
00:10:31.63\00:10:36.23
excited with the program
but equally excited she was with
00:10:36.26\00:10:40.67
the spiritual component of
it. So that was something that I
00:10:40.70\00:10:44.11
heard time and time again. They
come here looking for health but
00:10:44.14\00:10:47.84
then they find that we bring
this whole spiritual attitude.
00:10:47.88\00:10:51.38
Not just random, namby, pamby
things but it's a very specific
00:10:51.41\00:10:56.18
spirituality designed to help
aid the healing of the body and
00:10:56.22\00:11:01.69
that was unexpected for the both
of them, her and her husband.
00:11:01.72\00:11:05.19
They would come together.
So over and over again in
00:11:05.23\00:11:09.06
conversation she was like I'm
thrilled with all of this. So as
00:11:09.10\00:11:13.03
they were getting the physical
healing, which was another story
00:11:13.07\00:11:16.27
she was very excited about that.
Every morning too they were
00:11:16.30\00:11:20.28
there at that Fresh
Start lecture, both of them,
00:11:20.31\00:11:22.18
like I didn't know
that, I didn't get this,
00:11:22.21\00:11:23.75
I didn't understand that.
As more and more was revealed
00:11:23.78\00:11:27.98
they started seeing the
bigger picture and that's
00:11:28.02\00:11:30.19
really what I want to do is show
people the bigger picture of
00:11:30.22\00:11:33.79
healing. It's not just health,
but it's also the spirituality.
00:11:33.82\00:11:36.46
I'm glad you brought that
in because our viewers are not
00:11:36.49\00:11:40.63
aware of this, to my knowledge
anyway. But my wife brought to
00:11:40.66\00:11:44.80
my attention, we went to a
graduation a few months ago and
00:11:44.83\00:11:50.41
everyone that came up to receive
their diploma, they get to say a
00:11:50.44\00:11:56.01
few words, you're always there,
you know this. Without exception
00:11:56.04\00:12:00.95
they all said well I thought
I was coming to reverse my
00:12:00.98\00:12:05.05
diabetes, but I really needed
to change my walk with the Lord.
00:12:05.09\00:12:09.79
And you know I'm so happy
that you're here, that you're
00:12:11.19\00:12:15.00
monitoring these people and
you're meeting with them. How
00:12:15.03\00:12:18.50
many meetings or sessions
are you with each guest?
00:12:18.53\00:12:23.54
I have 13 lectures so I don't
do anything on the weekends.
00:12:23.57\00:12:27.34
That's Monday through
Friday so I got 13 shots
00:12:28.91\00:12:32.38
So you do one a day basically.
00:12:32.41\00:12:33.75
One a day at seven in the
morning. It's a tough time slot
00:12:34.48\00:12:37.12
and you would think that human
nature does not want to be up
00:12:37.15\00:12:41.12
at 7 o'clock. But time and time
again I see them coming, they're
00:12:41.16\00:12:46.33
just there, they're there.
00:12:46.36\00:12:47.90
Well don't you have
one-on-one with them also?
00:12:47.93\00:12:50.53
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. I have the
counseling too, which is another
00:12:50.57\00:12:54.80
big part of it. I have a
counseling session with each one
00:12:54.84\00:12:57.54
of them once a week.
00:12:57.57\00:12:58.91
Oh so you do like
three counseling sessions?
00:12:58.94\00:13:01.08
Yes.
00:13:01.11\00:13:02.44
Good to know.
00:13:02.48\00:13:03.81
So what I do with that is...and
I would tell them opening night
00:13:03.85\00:13:06.65
that this can be whatever you
want it to be. You can tell me
00:13:06.68\00:13:10.22
deep, dark secrets or we can
just say how are you doing or
00:13:10.25\00:13:14.12
you can just bump things off
of me and I get a full range but
00:13:14.16\00:13:18.13
this is where I really get to
know the people. This is where
00:13:18.16\00:13:20.76
I really get to delve down and
see what's going on with them.
00:13:20.80\00:13:23.20
That's actually the joyful part.
It's the trying part, it's the
00:13:23.23\00:13:28.70
difficult part because sometimes
we work their lives with
00:13:28.74\00:13:32.01
difficult material, but this
is where I get to know them and
00:13:32.04\00:13:34.88
I get to hear their feedback
on the whole program, yeah.
00:13:34.91\00:13:39.91
Praise God. So needless to say
you're pleased with Catherine's
00:13:39.95\00:13:47.06
direction?
00:13:47.09\00:13:48.42
Catherine's direction? Yeah when
she got here she was a bubbling
00:13:48.46\00:13:50.93
you know, filled full of joy,
filled full of happiness. And
00:13:50.96\00:13:54.33
know she was also very excited
about this wholeness. She's been
00:13:54.36\00:14:00.50
in the church her whole life.
She's heard all about these
00:14:00.54\00:14:02.30
different
00:14:02.34\00:14:03.67
things that are good for you but
to see them brought together on
00:14:03.71\00:14:06.04
the health side in a very
particular manner designed to
00:14:06.07\00:14:11.28
bring wellness to the body, that
was also something unexpected.
00:14:11.31\00:14:16.65
She's happy because her husband
is a guy who's hurting, got a
00:14:16.69\00:14:20.52
lot of pain in his body,
suffering a lot and so she was
00:14:20.56\00:14:24.99
was here as a companion but she
too was also worried. What we
00:14:25.03\00:14:29.83
also appreciated about Miss
Catherine is that she didn't let
00:14:29.86\00:14:34.37
herself get just completely down
and out. She seen her numbers
00:14:34.40\00:14:37.97
were coming up, sugars were
coming up, weight was coming
00:14:38.01\00:14:40.28
up and she said, you
know, I got to stop this now.
00:14:40.31\00:14:42.98
You know she's a nurse. So she's
got that nurse's hat on. Yeah
00:14:43.01\00:14:49.45
it's good to tie in the
spiritual with her work. You
00:14:49.48\00:14:55.26
know, we're running out of
time but I want to thank you for
00:14:55.29\00:14:58.23
coming in and taking your time.
I know you're a busy man. God
00:14:58.26\00:15:01.90
bless you brother. Don't
go away We'll be right back.
00:15:01.93\00:15:07.14
Welcome back
friends. Dr. Roger Gallant.
00:15:07.17\00:15:11.74
Ron good to see you.
00:15:11.77\00:15:13.11
Good to see you. You know I want
to get right into this Catherine
00:15:13.14\00:15:17.21
because several
reasons. She's a nurse.
00:15:17.25\00:15:22.12
She's a nurse.
00:15:22.15\00:15:23.49
You're a doctor. I know nurses
follow whatever the doctor tells
00:15:23.52\00:15:27.72
them, right?
00:15:27.76\00:15:29.62
Depends on the nurse.
00:15:29.66\00:15:30.99
OK. Well in this particular
instance wasn't she very
00:15:32.56\00:15:36.26
cooperative? She was. She was.
00:15:36.30\00:15:37.67
She knew exactly what to do.
00:15:37.70\00:15:39.03
She came and she had some health
challenges. You know, she had
00:15:39.07\00:15:45.97
had an injury and had a hard
time walking and she would walk
00:15:46.01\00:15:51.31
in Dansko Clogs. And she'd use
them for everything. A lot of
00:15:51.35\00:16:00.96
nurses wear them,
health professionals,
00:16:00.99\00:16:02.32
cooks you know. It's unusual to
see people walking in them but
00:16:02.36\00:16:08.06
she said it actually made
her feet feel better. As she was
00:16:08.10\00:16:12.00
here and making lifestyle
changes her aches and pains got
00:16:12.03\00:16:16.20
better and she was able to walk
more. When she first came she
00:16:16.24\00:16:20.74
couldn't walk very far and
by the time she left she was
00:16:20.78\00:16:23.31
walking three or
more miles a day.
00:16:23.35\00:16:25.08
Well you know when we first
interviewed her to attend the
00:16:25.11\00:16:29.78
program she said that's all
she was dealing with, however,
00:16:29.82\00:16:33.99
didn't you find out some things
that came up from the first
00:16:34.02\00:16:37.96
blood draw?
00:16:37.99\00:16:39.33
Yes so she knew that she had
had some high cholesterol in the
00:16:39.36\00:16:43.00
past and it still was high, but
she also had an abnormal blood
00:16:43.03\00:16:47.90
sugar. So what does that mean?
00:16:47.94\00:16:50.21
That means that she is leaning
towards becoming a diabetic.
00:16:50.24\00:16:53.61
So what we did was we encouraged
her to continue changing her
00:16:53.64\00:16:59.65
lifestyle and as she did that
her numbers came down and her
00:16:59.68\00:17:03.92
cholesterol came down, her blood
sugars came down and she lost a
00:17:03.95\00:17:08.69
little bit of weight and her
health improved. She felt like
00:17:08.72\00:17:14.03
a different person. She also
used to have a little bit of
00:17:14.06\00:17:18.03
indigestion, reflux-type
symptoms before she came. After
00:17:18.07\00:17:21.94
being here with us that had
gone away without any medicine.
00:17:21.97\00:17:24.97
That's amazing.
00:17:25.01\00:17:26.68
Praise the Lord.
00:17:26.71\00:17:28.04
You know as you call it God's
plan, and I do too, but the way
00:17:28.08\00:17:31.71
you say it sounds really nice.
You know here's a lady that
00:17:31.75\00:17:36.15
comes to us. She thinks she's
going to just deal with her
00:17:36.18\00:17:38.89
walking. She finds out she's
got several issues which are now
00:17:38.92\00:17:44.49
fine because of two weeks on
a program that we teach. I mean,
00:17:44.53\00:17:49.16
I don't know of anything more
powerful. If we did would we be
00:17:49.20\00:17:53.84
hanging it out? Sure
absolutely. Absolutely.
00:17:53.87\00:17:58.87
But you know we show that the
pills are not what fixes these
00:17:58.91\00:18:03.75
problems. It's getting on God's
health plan. You now the nice
00:18:03.78\00:18:07.98
thing about God's health plan
is it's available to everybody.
00:18:08.02\00:18:12.85
So you know sometimes you can't
afford a medicine or a procedure
00:18:12.89\00:18:17.39
or to see a certain doctor,
but God's plan is available to
00:18:17.43\00:18:21.43
everybody. You know
I know there's a lot
00:18:21.46\00:18:24.67
of viewers who are watching this
program that would just like to
00:18:24.70\00:18:28.37
drop in and see you and they
can make an appointment with
00:18:28.40\00:18:31.51
you can't they. Absolutely. Let
me give you his phone number.
00:18:31.54\00:18:35.51
It's 530-637-4025. Call up
and make an appointment with Dr.
00:18:35.54\00:18:43.15
Gallant and he can
help you too. Right?
00:18:43.18\00:18:47.16
Amen. Amen. Happy to see them.
00:18:47.19\00:18:50.23
You know one of the things I
really enjoy doing when I work
00:18:50.26\00:18:52.66
in the clinic is introducing
people to God's plan.
00:18:52.69\00:18:56.36
because it makes a difference.
Now I'm starting to see more
00:18:56.40\00:19:00.84
patients come in to see me
in the clinic who want to treat
00:19:00.87\00:19:04.97
disease but not be on a
bunch of medicines. And they're
00:19:05.01\00:19:11.25
learning it by making some
simple changes that can have
00:19:11.28\00:19:15.05
profound results.
00:19:15.08\00:19:18.49
Do you remember
Tim I sent to you? Yes.
00:19:18.52\00:19:20.26
Tim can't thank me enough
for introducing you. He says you
00:19:20.29\00:19:25.83
have taken such good care. He's
learning things, he's finding
00:19:25.86\00:19:31.10
things out, had his blood drawn
and he just keeps thanking me
00:19:31.13\00:19:37.17
every time I see him.
00:19:37.21\00:19:38.54
Praise the Lord. Praise
the Lord That's wonderful.
00:19:38.57\00:19:40.64
If you want to thank me make
a donation to Weimar, I mean
00:19:40.68\00:19:44.51
NEWSTART. Excuse me.
00:19:44.55\00:19:46.31
There you go. Yeah praise
the Lord. He's a good guy.
00:19:46.35\00:19:49.65
Yeah, so Catherine, she's on
her way to better health. Yes.
00:19:49.68\00:19:57.09
Walking right now and she's got
a whole different attitude about
00:19:57.13\00:19:59.26
Yeah and it's just dramatic
to see the before and after
00:19:59.29\00:20:04.50
difference. It makes a big
difference. She has done well
00:20:04.53\00:20:10.91
and I anticipate by God's grace
she's going to continue to do
00:20:10.94\00:20:14.21
well.
00:20:14.24\00:20:15.58
And all the other nurses and
doctors she'll influence when
00:20:15.61\00:20:17.61
she gets back and says you guys
have got to try this and they'll
00:20:17.65\00:20:22.75
go oh you're nuts. I could take
a little pill that would do the
00:20:22.78\00:20:25.42
same thing.
00:20:25.45\00:20:26.79
The pills have side effects.
You've got to remember that.
00:20:26.82\00:20:29.62
God's plan has no, well it does
have a side effect, but it's
00:20:29.66\00:20:34.26
better. Praise the
Lord, praise the Lord
00:20:34.30\00:20:37.67
Last minute words
for anyone watching?
00:20:37.70\00:20:40.17
Well I just want you to know
that simple things like walking
00:20:40.20\00:20:46.17
more, drinking more water, being
on a schedule and getting good
00:20:46.21\00:20:52.45
sleep, those simple things
can have such a profound effect
00:20:52.48\00:20:54.78
on making you feel better and
on helping you to change your
00:20:54.82\00:21:01.32
life, change your health.
00:21:01.36\00:21:02.69
Amen. We're out of time. Thanks
Doc. We'll see you around.
00:21:02.72\00:21:07.10
Don't go away.
We'll be right back.
00:21:07.13\00:21:09.70
Every year in America there are
over one million deaths because
00:21:09.73\00:21:15.30
type II diabetes and
chronic obesity, this includes
00:21:15.34\00:21:18.44
heart attacks and strokes.
00:21:18.47\00:21:19.81
That's six and a half
747s crashing every day.
00:21:22.84\00:21:24.18
The fix is easy. It's your
lifestyle. Wouldn't it be nice
00:21:24.55\00:21:26.18
if you could actually add
quality years to your life
00:21:29.42\00:21:31.82
rather than dying one organ
at a time? Obesity and diabetes
00:21:31.85\00:21:35.79
are the cause of a million
deaths per year. Most diseases
00:21:35.82\00:21:40.83
are reversible because most
diseases are lifestyle diseases.
00:21:40.86\00:21:43.13
Especially type two diabetes
and chronic obesity. Seriously
00:21:43.16\00:21:48.64
it can be reversed and the
quality of your life can be
00:21:48.67\00:21:52.41
renewed. Call NEWSTART
today at 1-800-525-9192.
00:21:52.44\00:21:59.08
You will see dramatic changes
in the first few days of our
00:21:59.11\00:22:00.45
program and you will be on the
road to a better, more robust
00:22:02.52\00:22:05.65
quality of life. The NEWSTART
program is simple and effective.
00:22:05.69\00:22:10.26
Welcome to Weimar College update
I'm Dr. Neil Nedley, president
00:22:10.29\00:22:17.60
of Weimar Institute whose vision
is to heal a hurting world.
00:22:17.63\00:22:23.14
We also have a higher education
center here. Dr. Ramirez who is
00:22:23.17\00:22:27.88
our head of Weimar Institute
Research is with us today.
00:22:27.91\00:22:32.05
It's amazing what this little
college has put together in
00:22:32.08\00:22:38.45
regards to the premier place
to go for your under graduate
00:22:38.49\00:22:45.73
studies no matter what health
care field you might be going
00:22:45.76\00:22:47.10
into or even if you're going
into a field of religion or
00:22:47.13\00:22:52.17
business this would be a great
place to come. But one of the
00:22:52.20\00:22:54.07
reasons is Weimar has risen to
the top in regards to students
00:22:54.10\00:22:58.27
being able to solve real world
complex problems and they can
00:22:58.31\00:23:01.98
have confidence because of the
research being done and getting
00:23:02.01\00:23:06.08
published in peer review
journals. Tell us Dr. Ramirez
00:23:06.11\00:23:10.69
about some of the research
that's been going on here as
00:23:10.72\00:23:14.89
well as the student involvement
and the conferences that they're
00:23:14.92\00:23:20.56
able to attend and also present
at. What you've been doing.
00:23:20.60\00:23:24.47
So I've been doing some
mathematics. I have been for 26
00:23:24.50\00:23:29.04
involved in different lifestyles
sectors. And you get some
00:23:29.07\00:23:32.14
fantastic results that you see
there. But the difference with
00:23:32.17\00:23:35.51
Weimar is that we're actually
getting that data and we're
00:23:35.54\00:23:40.08
publishing that data in the
scientific literature, which
00:23:40.12\00:23:43.45
goes out to the whole world,
the scientific world, and shows
00:23:43.49\00:23:48.22
that what we are doing here
actually has dramatic results.
00:23:48.26\00:23:53.43
This is a lot of work as
it involves capturing data, it
00:23:53.46\00:23:58.17
involves writing and so
forth and the blessing of
00:23:58.20\00:24:02.70
participating on the under
graduate program is that you can
00:24:02.74\00:24:06.14
take the research methods class
and you can be involved in that
00:24:06.17\00:24:10.65
program. And as I tell my
students, doing research is like
00:24:10.68\00:24:16.92
learning how to swim. You can
sit down in the classroom and
00:24:16.95\00:24:20.89
hear about the beautiful theory
of swimming but the way you're
00:24:20.92\00:24:25.56
going to learn how to swim is to
go in the water. So I tell them
00:24:25.59\00:24:28.73
go and jump in the water. I
promise you won't drown. I'll
00:24:28.76\00:24:32.07
be there to hold you if I see
that you're struggling. So from
00:24:32.10\00:24:38.57
the first day of that class
students are analyzing data
00:24:38.61\00:24:43.04
they are writing papers and
by the end of that undergraduate
00:24:43.08\00:24:50.25
course they have more published
papers than the average medical
00:24:50.29\00:24:54.86
student. I have been contacted
by medical students that are
00:24:54.89\00:25:00.20
interested in going
into to _ and these type of
00:25:00.23\00:25:04.00
things. They are begging me do
you have projects for me I would
00:25:04.03\00:25:07.37
like to be published. Because
once you get into medical school
00:25:07.40\00:25:11.31
things are too busy. So the time
to start publishing is at that
00:25:11.34\00:25:16.24
level of the undergraduate.
00:25:16.28\00:25:18.05
And they not only learn to
do solid research but they also
00:25:18.08\00:25:23.02
learn about methods that they're
not going to really learn about
00:25:23.05\00:25:26.15
intensely in medical school. In
medical school you're going to
00:25:26.19\00:25:29.82
learn better in diagnosis and
pathology and you're going to
00:25:29.86\00:25:33.40
learn about pharmaceuticals
and surgical techniques. But you
00:25:33.43\00:25:37.90
don't really learn about
nutritional approaches and
00:25:37.93\00:25:40.27
lifestyle approaches and
natural remedies. And you have
00:25:40.30\00:25:43.81
this all in one package at a
premedical institution, Weimar
00:25:43.84\00:25:50.55
Institute and be able to ground
clinically with some of the best
00:25:50.58\00:25:55.72
doctors in the world in regards
to some of the most severe
00:25:55.75\00:25:58.29
problems.
00:25:58.32\00:25:59.65
And you know the students
have also the opportunity of
00:25:59.69\00:26:03.43
participating in prestige's
conferences. For example,
00:26:03.46\00:26:05.03
Harvard University. We have
taken students there to present
00:26:05.06\00:26:09.96
some of this research.
Just last two weeks, I was with
00:26:10.00\00:26:14.27
students in a top conference
from brain injury about learning
00:26:14.30\00:26:20.41
how to present that research to
all these top scientists in the
00:26:20.44\00:26:25.21
field. And it was a blast that
we were having there witnessing
00:26:25.25\00:26:30.02
to people and sharing all of
the complete package that Weimar
00:26:30.05\00:26:35.59
has to solve the real world
problems in a good way and in a
00:26:35.62\00:26:42.00
way that changes
and transforms lives.
00:26:42.03\00:26:44.83
There are surgeons and
neurologists who specialize in
00:26:44.87\00:26:49.20
brain injury were amazed at what
can happen to the brain as a
00:26:49.24\00:26:53.31
result of some of these non
pharmaceutical approaches that
00:26:53.34\00:26:57.11
are happening at Weimar. And
they were asking what are your
00:26:57.15\00:27:03.02
core principles. Just amazing
to see this sort of thing.
00:27:03.05\00:27:04.39
And these are people
you wouldn't be able to rub
00:27:04.42\00:27:05.75
shoulders with really in any
other setting unless you came
00:27:05.79\00:27:08.92
to Weimar and did research
enough to be able to rub
00:27:08.96\00:27:11.79
shoulders with these
type scientists of the world.
00:27:11.83\00:27:15.26
See that's opportunity of the
students of this Weimar College
00:27:15.30\00:27:21.34
to be able to learn how to
not only be a reflection of
00:27:21.37\00:27:26.47
knowledge but actually create
knowledge. That's what you're
00:27:26.51\00:27:30.05
doing when you are
publishing in the literature.
00:27:30.08\00:27:32.21
Don't just go to college. Come
to Weimar College and learn how
00:27:32.25\00:27:37.09
to solve real world
complex problems and publish and
00:27:37.12\00:27:41.76
interface with the top
scientists in our world today.
00:27:41.79\00:27:46.33
Thank you very much for tuning
into this segment of Weimar
00:27:46.36\00:27:51.13
College update.
