Hi, friends, don't turn that dial. 00:01:11.70\00:01:14.30 We have an amazing story to follow. 00:01:14.34\00:01:17.97 In the next 29.5 minutes, 00:01:18.01\00:01:20.44 you're going to witness a miracle. 00:01:20.48\00:01:23.31 In our studio with me today is Dr. Lukens. 00:01:23.35\00:01:28.38 How are you? Thank you, sir. 00:01:28.42\00:01:29.75 I'm always happy to talk about these miracles. 00:01:29.78\00:01:31.99 Yeah, we're going to talk about Bonnie Coe 00:01:32.02\00:01:34.92 and what's happened in her life. 00:01:34.96\00:01:37.76 I can't wait to see her interview 00:01:37.79\00:01:41.66 and then come back with you, 00:01:41.70\00:01:43.57 and so let's break away for that interview, okay? 00:01:43.60\00:01:47.50 Welcome back, friends. Bonnie, how are you dear? 00:01:50.61\00:01:53.24 I'm fine, thank you. 00:01:53.27\00:01:54.61 Good. Good to see you. Thank you. 00:01:54.64\00:01:56.44 And I'm good to hear of all these amazing things 00:01:56.48\00:01:59.75 that are happening in your life. 00:01:59.78\00:02:02.38 I'd like our guests that are watching us right now 00:02:02.42\00:02:05.75 to hear your story, 00:02:05.79\00:02:07.72 and if you can just, kind of, breeze through it, 00:02:07.76\00:02:10.53 we don't have a lot of time. 00:02:10.56\00:02:12.63 I'll try to condense my story. 00:02:12.66\00:02:15.43 Okay. 00:02:15.46\00:02:17.40 In 2005, I became disabled 00:02:17.43\00:02:21.40 after taking a prescription anti-nausea medication, 00:02:21.44\00:02:27.74 disabled to the point 00:02:27.78\00:02:29.11 where I was bedbound for over four years 00:02:29.14\00:02:33.75 until I had brain surgery 00:02:33.78\00:02:36.45 because I had uncontrolled movements. 00:02:36.48\00:02:41.99 And they went away when I slept. 00:02:42.02\00:02:44.79 So when I had the brain surgery 00:02:44.83\00:02:47.80 and a deep brain stimulator placed, 00:02:47.83\00:02:51.83 it gave me my life back, 00:02:51.87\00:02:54.10 but I still had trouble walking, 00:02:54.14\00:02:57.91 and I still obviously have some trouble 00:02:57.94\00:03:01.48 with my speech. 00:03:01.51\00:03:04.15 But I could not coordinate the way I walked. 00:03:04.18\00:03:08.38 So when you got here, I noticed 00:03:08.42\00:03:10.82 you were kind of twitching a little bit on one side. 00:03:10.85\00:03:13.82 And what you're saying is 00:03:13.86\00:03:15.66 your left and right foot wanted to go together sometimes or... 00:03:15.69\00:03:19.26 Well, when we walk, 00:03:19.29\00:03:23.00 we automatically do it without thinking. 00:03:23.03\00:03:25.83 Right. The right leg goes... 00:03:25.87\00:03:28.54 The left leg goes out, the right arm at same time. 00:03:28.57\00:03:31.41 Right. And then vice versa. 00:03:31.44\00:03:34.11 I could not do that, 00:03:34.14\00:03:35.94 even practicing when I walked outside 00:03:35.98\00:03:40.75 which was not real often. 00:03:40.78\00:03:42.48 Right. 00:03:42.52\00:03:43.85 And here somehow 00:03:43.89\00:03:45.72 with all the walking that we've done, 00:03:45.75\00:03:50.23 it has happened pretty automatically 00:03:50.26\00:03:55.13 that I do that now. 00:03:55.16\00:03:57.60 You're walking like you used to walk. 00:03:57.63\00:04:00.44 I'm walking pretty normal. 00:04:00.47\00:04:01.80 Pretty normal. Yeah. 00:04:01.84\00:04:03.20 And your speech is pretty good too. I mean... 00:04:03.24\00:04:06.11 Well, hopefully is understandable. 00:04:06.14\00:04:09.88 Well, sure. 00:04:09.91\00:04:11.25 But it is different. Of course, you wouldn't know that. 00:04:11.28\00:04:13.85 No, I wouldn't know that. 00:04:13.88\00:04:16.22 I talked to you when you first arrived here. 00:04:16.25\00:04:18.65 Yes. But that was brief. 00:04:18.69\00:04:20.96 I didn't catch anything like that. 00:04:20.99\00:04:23.69 So now why do you think that this has happened? 00:04:23.73\00:04:28.66 How this healing, that's obviously come on you, 00:04:28.70\00:04:33.23 why do you think it's happened? 00:04:33.27\00:04:35.07 Well, I think 00:04:35.10\00:04:36.60 it's a combination of the exercise that we do 00:04:36.64\00:04:42.51 along with the food that we eat, 00:04:42.54\00:04:48.08 getting enough rest, pretty pampered here actually, 00:04:48.12\00:04:54.29 pretty spoiled. 00:04:54.32\00:04:56.06 What about the spiritual component? 00:04:56.09\00:04:59.13 The spiritual component, this is all about God. 00:04:59.16\00:05:04.50 My healing, at the beginning, 00:05:04.53\00:05:08.10 the surgery was directed by God, 00:05:08.14\00:05:11.97 and God brought me to NEWSTART. 00:05:12.01\00:05:15.64 And it is God who is healing me even further. 00:05:15.68\00:05:21.08 And to Him, I give all the glory, 00:05:21.12\00:05:26.82 all the honor and praise for it. 00:05:26.86\00:05:29.82 Amen, He's saying to you, 00:05:29.86\00:05:31.29 "Take up your mat and walk." 00:05:31.33\00:05:33.23 Right. And you're walking. 00:05:33.26\00:05:34.90 You're doing a good job. 00:05:34.93\00:05:36.77 How far are you walking each day now? 00:05:36.80\00:05:39.60 Well, some of the people here 00:05:39.63\00:05:43.67 that are attending would laugh, 00:05:43.71\00:05:46.04 but I'm up to over two miles a day. 00:05:46.07\00:05:49.34 That's nothing to laugh about. 00:05:49.38\00:05:52.05 You couldn't walk when you got here. 00:05:52.08\00:05:54.48 You said rarely you even got outside. 00:05:54.52\00:05:56.55 Rarely. Well, yeah, I didn't go on walks like now. 00:05:56.58\00:06:02.76 So now you're over two miles. 00:06:02.79\00:06:05.09 Over two miles. 00:06:05.13\00:06:06.46 Do you see three miles in the near future? 00:06:06.49\00:06:09.36 Well, I was working up to it. 00:06:09.40\00:06:11.33 Today, I got an extra quarter mile this morning, 00:06:11.37\00:06:16.00 and I will try this evening also. 00:06:16.04\00:06:18.51 Yes, good for you. Yeah. 00:06:18.54\00:06:20.64 You know, I see that there's hope in your eyes, 00:06:20.68\00:06:25.35 in your heart, 00:06:25.38\00:06:27.15 and that hope and focus is on Jesus. 00:06:27.18\00:06:30.52 And you know that He is the master healer, 00:06:30.55\00:06:33.66 a master metaphysician, if you will, 00:06:33.69\00:06:35.96 that He can heal us from another planet, 00:06:35.99\00:06:40.63 if you will, 00:06:40.66\00:06:42.00 and He is obviously working on you in such a way. 00:06:42.03\00:06:46.47 I'm so happy for you. 00:06:46.50\00:06:48.74 Yes, and one of the benefits, 00:06:48.77\00:06:51.74 and this is not why I came here, 00:06:51.77\00:06:54.18 but I've lost about 10 pounds. 00:06:54.21\00:06:57.35 Wow. 00:06:57.38\00:06:58.75 So like I said, that's not why I came, 00:06:58.78\00:07:01.72 I came for the other components, 00:07:01.75\00:07:03.52 other programs. 00:07:03.55\00:07:04.89 Yes. But I'm really happy about it. 00:07:04.92\00:07:07.16 Yes, of course. 00:07:07.19\00:07:09.39 How much weight do you want to lose yet? 00:07:09.42\00:07:12.69 Probably, you know, women are always unreasonable, 00:07:12.73\00:07:17.13 but I would say about 30 pounds. 00:07:17.17\00:07:19.50 Thirty pounds? Well, you could do it. 00:07:19.53\00:07:21.57 You'll do it. One day at a time. 00:07:21.60\00:07:23.24 That's it, one day at a time. 00:07:23.27\00:07:25.21 You know, it's an amazing thing 00:07:25.24\00:07:26.61 the way God created these bodies. 00:07:26.64\00:07:29.21 What's amazing to me is 00:07:29.24\00:07:30.81 all you got to do is give them the right foods, 00:07:30.85\00:07:34.18 it knows exactly where you should be. 00:07:34.22\00:07:37.22 Whether it's 125 or 135, it's going to balance, 00:07:37.25\00:07:43.16 your BMI is going to be where God intended it to be, 00:07:43.19\00:07:47.13 it may be on the low side, it may be on the high side, 00:07:47.16\00:07:50.57 but you're on your way, girl. 00:07:50.60\00:07:53.00 I think so. Yeah. 00:07:53.03\00:07:54.37 Thank you. 00:07:54.40\00:07:55.74 Good. You got a great smile by the way. 00:07:55.77\00:07:57.64 Thank you. 00:07:57.67\00:07:59.17 Did you get that from the surgery? 00:07:59.21\00:08:00.54 I don't think so. No. 00:08:00.58\00:08:04.05 No, they didn't throw that in. 00:08:04.08\00:08:07.65 Well, I'm looking forward 00:08:07.68\00:08:10.69 to hearing things in the future. 00:08:10.72\00:08:14.92 I would pray and hope that you would call us, 00:08:14.96\00:08:18.26 and stay in touch, and let us know of your progress. 00:08:18.29\00:08:22.50 Could you do that? 00:08:22.53\00:08:23.87 Well, I plan on. 00:08:23.90\00:08:27.20 Dr. Lukens is asking me to keep in touch. 00:08:27.24\00:08:30.64 Yes. 00:08:30.67\00:08:32.01 And he has given us a form to fill out 00:08:32.04\00:08:35.84 and send every month, and yes, I plan on that. 00:08:35.88\00:08:39.88 I want to thank you, dear, for taking your time. 00:08:39.91\00:08:43.08 And may God bless you in so many ways. 00:08:43.12\00:08:47.46 Thank you, Ron. 00:08:47.49\00:08:48.82 Yeah, keep up the good work. I'm excited about this. 00:10:04.30\00:10:06.17 I am really excited 00:10:06.20\00:10:07.54 because this is something I've never seen before, 00:10:07.57\00:10:10.01 but can you explain? 00:10:10.04\00:10:11.37 It happens so, so rarely. 00:10:11.41\00:10:12.74 Explain to our viewers, what's going on here. 00:10:12.77\00:10:15.81 Well, when a person has damage to a part of their brain, 00:10:15.84\00:10:19.58 there's more to the problem 00:10:19.61\00:10:22.48 than just whatever's going on in the neurons. 00:10:22.52\00:10:25.32 How did that damage occur? Do you know what happened? 00:10:25.35\00:10:28.56 Yes, she had a drug for nausea. Okay. 00:10:28.59\00:10:34.20 Compazine. 00:10:34.23\00:10:35.56 And I don't want people to just, 00:10:35.60\00:10:36.93 "I'm never going to take it", 00:10:36.97\00:10:38.73 but she had a very strange reaction to it. 00:10:38.77\00:10:42.44 And so what happened to her 00:10:42.47\00:10:45.34 is it did something in her brain 00:10:45.37\00:10:47.88 so that the left side of her body 00:10:47.91\00:10:51.45 just started going like this, 00:10:51.48\00:10:54.25 we call it tardive dyskinesia but hers was violent. 00:10:54.28\00:10:58.15 And so finally, she had to go to bed, 00:10:58.19\00:11:01.99 and she went from her normal weight down 00:11:02.02\00:11:06.03 to 110 pounds, 00:11:06.06\00:11:07.93 and all during the day she was doing this. 00:11:07.96\00:11:09.93 We call it tardive dyskinesia. 00:11:09.96\00:11:12.77 And so for four years, 00:11:12.80\00:11:14.67 she was like that. 00:11:14.70\00:11:16.04 And they finally just said, 00:11:16.07\00:11:17.61 "Well, we're going to stimulate that part of the brain 00:11:17.64\00:11:20.94 so it can't do that." 00:11:20.98\00:11:23.11 So now, you know, the muscles are all tight and everything 00:11:23.14\00:11:26.85 because they're trying to do that, 00:11:26.88\00:11:28.58 but the brain simulator 00:11:28.62\00:11:30.49 keeps it from going on to the dyskinesia, 00:11:30.52\00:11:34.69 which has given her a certain amount of life, 00:11:34.72\00:11:40.10 you know, back again. 00:11:40.13\00:11:41.46 She was just... 00:11:41.50\00:11:42.83 I don't know how she could stand it. 00:11:42.86\00:11:44.20 She's a nurse practitioner. 00:11:44.23\00:11:45.57 She had to stop doing what she's doing. 00:11:45.60\00:11:47.64 She's got a good sense of humor, 00:11:47.67\00:11:49.54 all these things are wonderful, 00:11:49.57\00:11:51.21 but she'd really like to get back to work again. 00:11:51.24\00:11:54.18 Yeah. Now here's the thing. 00:11:54.21\00:11:56.75 When she came in with that dyskinesia, 00:11:56.78\00:12:00.55 she wasn't able to... 00:12:00.58\00:12:01.92 You know, how when you walk, you swing your arm, 00:12:01.95\00:12:04.05 she couldn't swing her arm. 00:12:04.09\00:12:05.42 She couldn't walk very well. 00:12:05.45\00:12:07.06 And also, when she was trying to walk, 00:12:07.09\00:12:09.39 that leg was, you know... 00:12:09.42\00:12:11.46 And so it was a really strange gate that she had. 00:12:11.49\00:12:15.23 And after she had been on this for about five or six days, 00:12:15.26\00:12:20.90 she came in, and I was going to do the lecture, 00:12:20.94\00:12:25.21 and she said, "Dr. Lukens, I want you to watch me now." 00:12:25.24\00:12:29.24 And so she did a relatively normal walk and she said, 00:12:29.28\00:12:33.31 "Look at what I can do now." 00:12:33.35\00:12:35.62 Big smile, you see. 00:12:35.65\00:12:37.69 And, you know, she's the only one 00:12:37.72\00:12:40.62 that had a brain problem 00:12:40.66\00:12:43.06 that I've had so far with a medication, 00:12:43.09\00:12:46.66 and very, very, very rarely, fortunately that it happens. 00:12:46.70\00:12:50.07 So she's gone through an awful lot. 00:12:50.10\00:12:52.37 But besides that, she had diabetes. 00:12:52.40\00:12:56.87 She had diabetes? 00:12:56.91\00:12:58.24 Yeah. Well, okay, she came in with insulin for diabetes. 00:12:58.27\00:13:05.25 She came in with another medication 00:13:05.28\00:13:07.82 that whips the pancreas to make more and more insulin. 00:13:07.85\00:13:11.39 Oh, no. 00:13:11.42\00:13:12.75 And, you know, 00:13:12.79\00:13:14.16 those that are watching those medications, 00:13:14.19\00:13:15.99 they realize that they're not good for you. 00:13:16.02\00:13:18.13 So we got her off of that one first, 00:13:18.16\00:13:21.26 I mean, as well as getting her off the insulin. 00:13:21.30\00:13:24.43 And, you know, being a nurse practitioner 00:13:24.47\00:13:27.14 is, kind of, like, you know, and, "Doc, are you sure? 00:13:27.17\00:13:30.67 I could be dead, you know?" 00:13:30.71\00:13:32.31 And I said, "Well, here's what they're doing 00:13:32.34\00:13:34.41 in the big United Kingdom study." 00:13:34.44\00:13:36.61 And she says, "Oh, well, let's drop it." 00:13:36.64\00:13:41.05 And so now she's really, really happy, 00:13:41.08\00:13:43.22 she still got some struggles, but... 00:13:43.25\00:13:44.79 Sure. 00:13:44.82\00:13:46.15 We just did another treadmill test on her. 00:13:46.19\00:13:50.89 She was able to sort of eke out seven minutes. 00:13:50.93\00:13:55.26 Wow. And then this time she did 9.5. 00:13:55.30\00:13:58.00 Wow. Yeah. 00:13:58.03\00:13:59.77 That's incredible. 00:13:59.80\00:14:01.34 Yeah, and the thing is that, 00:14:01.37\00:14:03.64 you know, I think when she saw such rapid improvements, 00:14:03.67\00:14:07.38 she was hoping that, you know, 00:14:07.41\00:14:09.04 she was going to walk out totally well, 00:14:09.08\00:14:10.85 but she's agreed to stay in touch with us. 00:14:10.88\00:14:13.92 We'll keep following her progress, 00:14:13.95\00:14:15.98 and we'll see else the Lord will do 00:14:16.02\00:14:18.85 with the miracle path that she's on. 00:14:18.89\00:14:22.59 Has she put on any weight or lost any weight? 00:14:22.62\00:14:24.89 She's lost, yeah. 00:14:24.93\00:14:26.26 And so she's off these medications, 00:14:26.29\00:14:29.70 off the insulin, right? 00:14:29.73\00:14:31.60 And the other one was... 00:14:31.63\00:14:33.94 Generally, if you use enough of that, 00:14:33.97\00:14:36.50 you're going to have to use insulin 00:14:36.54\00:14:38.61 because it's going to... 00:14:38.64\00:14:40.81 They equipped, just in lay terms, 00:14:40.84\00:14:44.31 they keep whipping the pancreas to make more insulin 00:14:44.35\00:14:47.52 until they can't do it anymore. 00:14:47.55\00:14:49.35 Until it's doesn't beat to death. 00:14:49.38\00:14:51.25 Yeah. 00:14:51.29\00:14:52.62 So now we're going to follow up on her 00:14:52.65\00:14:57.53 and encourage her to stay. 00:14:57.56\00:14:59.33 Well, she looks like 00:14:59.36\00:15:00.70 she's going to stick with the program. 00:15:00.73\00:15:02.43 Oh, man, you know, 00:15:02.46\00:15:03.80 if you've gone through four years in bed 00:15:03.83\00:15:07.14 or you're jerking all day long and, you know, 00:15:07.17\00:15:10.27 you just don't have any life, it's... 00:15:10.31\00:15:14.01 She's going to stick to the program. 00:15:14.04\00:15:15.84 She's going to do something, yeah. 00:15:15.88\00:15:17.21 She's already so much better. 00:15:17.25\00:15:19.88 I hope she'll be able to get back to work 00:15:19.91\00:15:21.68 because she's got... You know, she's really bright. 00:15:21.72\00:15:24.79 Is there any other medications that she was on 00:15:24.82\00:15:29.02 that she's no longer taking? 00:15:29.06\00:15:31.19 Well, you know, 00:15:31.23\00:15:32.56 well, we take them off as we can, yeah. 00:15:32.59\00:15:35.00 Okay, like blood pressure meds and stuff? 00:15:35.03\00:15:38.10 Yeah, things like that. 00:15:38.13\00:15:39.47 Yeah. Well, that's awesome. 00:15:39.50\00:15:41.44 I'm glad that we were able to help. 00:15:41.47\00:15:43.54 I want to ask you this. 00:15:43.57\00:15:44.91 Do you feel that God, 00:15:44.94\00:15:49.54 His presence on this campus, 00:15:49.58\00:15:53.48 has a lot to do with this healing? 00:15:53.52\00:15:56.22 Well, let me say it this way, 00:15:56.25\00:15:58.05 whether you have a common cold or you have metastatic cancer, 00:15:58.09\00:16:01.96 God is the healer. Amen. 00:16:01.99\00:16:04.43 I'm glad you say that. 00:16:04.46\00:16:06.43 I already know the answer, 00:16:06.46\00:16:07.80 but I wanted to hear from a doctor. 00:16:07.83\00:16:09.16 Yeah. 00:16:09.20\00:16:10.53 Well, we've run out of time, 00:16:10.57\00:16:12.27 but I want to thank you so much for being here. 00:16:12.30\00:16:16.34 Thank you, doc. 00:16:16.37\00:16:17.71 I'm really excited about this, man. 00:16:17.74\00:16:19.07 I'm glad that we're doing this. 00:16:19.11\00:16:20.44 I am too. 00:16:20.48\00:16:21.94 Thank you, friends, but don't go away, 00:16:21.98\00:16:24.31 Pastor Snead is up next. 00:16:24.35\00:16:26.45 Welcome back, friends. 00:16:29.62\00:16:31.15 Pastor Snead. 00:16:31.19\00:16:32.55 How you doing? Good, brother. 00:16:32.59\00:16:34.26 I'm going to call you Damon. That's right. 00:16:34.29\00:16:35.92 That's your name, right? Yes, sir. 00:16:35.96\00:16:38.69 You know, I'm really excited for a lot of reasons. 00:16:38.73\00:16:43.26 Now the viewers don't know 00:16:43.30\00:16:44.80 what's happened here in the last 16 days. 00:16:44.83\00:16:48.87 But I promised them they're going to witness 00:16:48.90\00:16:51.07 a miracle in the next 29.5 minutes. 00:16:51.11\00:16:55.71 Can you speak about that for the next little bit? 00:16:55.74\00:16:58.71 Oh, sure, in regards to Miss... 00:16:58.75\00:17:00.88 Miss Bonnie. Miss Bonnie, yeah. 00:17:00.92\00:17:03.35 Miss Bonnie would definitely classify as a miracle, 00:17:03.39\00:17:06.82 especially when you see what she came here with. 00:17:06.86\00:17:08.89 If you noticed how she was walking, 00:17:08.92\00:17:11.49 you know, she had some physical impairments. 00:17:11.53\00:17:14.26 But that's not the miracle part 00:17:14.30\00:17:16.36 that I want to talk about the most. 00:17:16.40\00:17:18.73 I was hoping you're going to bring in another aspect. 00:17:18.77\00:17:21.97 Yeah, you know, and we had some great conversations, 00:17:22.00\00:17:26.11 and she comes with a broken life. 00:17:26.14\00:17:28.54 She has a real tragic story in her life. 00:17:28.58\00:17:31.01 A lot of the things that she's been through, 00:17:31.05\00:17:32.71 broken marriages, you know, abuse as a young lady, 00:17:32.75\00:17:37.15 had really suffered a lot of terrible things, 00:17:37.19\00:17:39.15 and the death of her husband. 00:17:39.19\00:17:40.82 And so she had come here 00:17:40.86\00:17:42.19 with a lot of emotional baggage, 00:17:42.22\00:17:44.33 and then she ends up taking a simple drug 00:17:44.36\00:17:47.16 that many, many people take 00:17:47.20\00:17:48.60 and it gives her this terrible 00:17:48.63\00:17:50.50 debilitating neurological issue. 00:17:50.53\00:17:53.60 Compazine. 00:17:53.64\00:17:54.97 Yeah, she can't walk. Right. 00:17:55.00\00:17:56.74 So she comes here figuring 00:17:56.77\00:17:58.11 that the one thing that she can do 00:17:58.14\00:17:59.47 is maybe just at the end of... Towards... 00:17:59.51\00:18:01.24 You know, she's not a spring chicken no more, 00:18:01.28\00:18:03.48 so the last thing that she can do 00:18:03.51\00:18:04.91 is maybe recoup her health 00:18:04.95\00:18:06.45 and have some kind of enjoyment of life. 00:18:06.48\00:18:08.95 But she gets here and thinking 00:18:08.98\00:18:10.72 that's all that it's going to be about, 00:18:10.75\00:18:12.15 but she gives just this tear-jerking testimony, 00:18:12.19\00:18:16.22 Sabbath afternoon. 00:18:16.26\00:18:17.59 She's one of the people that were re-baptized, 00:18:17.63\00:18:19.69 and she's telling everybody, she's just saying, 00:18:19.73\00:18:23.30 "I came here thinking that 00:18:23.33\00:18:25.00 all that I could get from life is just health, 00:18:25.03\00:18:27.50 but I came here realizing 00:18:27.54\00:18:28.87 God brought me here for a spiritual renewal. 00:18:28.90\00:18:32.21 God brought me here to recoup my relationship with Him." 00:18:32.24\00:18:36.44 Because what's happened to her is, 00:18:36.48\00:18:38.41 over the years, every tragedy, 00:18:38.45\00:18:40.52 every terrible thing that's happened 00:18:40.55\00:18:42.55 has driven her further and further away from God 00:18:42.58\00:18:44.45 and she didn't realize that 00:18:44.49\00:18:46.02 until she sat in those Fresh Start lectures 00:18:46.05\00:18:47.99 realizing that she has been so far away from God. 00:18:48.02\00:18:51.63 And she came into my office that second week 00:18:51.66\00:18:54.70 when we offered the appeal 00:18:54.73\00:18:56.06 to rededicate your life in baptism. 00:18:56.10\00:18:58.13 I did not expect to see her 00:18:58.17\00:18:59.67 because she's a quiet kind of person. 00:18:59.70\00:19:01.20 Right. 00:19:01.24\00:19:02.57 I had no clue that that was stirring in her heart. 00:19:02.60\00:19:04.77 And she sat in my office 00:19:04.81\00:19:06.14 and then she just broke out weeping, saying, 00:19:06.17\00:19:07.91 "Pastor, I need to be reconnected to God. 00:19:07.94\00:19:11.21 I want to get close to God." 00:19:11.25\00:19:13.72 And so she reminds me of the man 00:19:13.75\00:19:16.75 with the story of Jesus 00:19:16.79\00:19:18.12 that was let down through the roof, 00:19:18.15\00:19:19.62 and he can't move, and he's sitting there, 00:19:19.65\00:19:21.66 and everyone's waiting for Jesus to heal him, 00:19:21.69\00:19:23.26 and the first thing that Jesus says is, 00:19:23.29\00:19:24.73 "Your sins are forgiven." 00:19:24.76\00:19:26.09 Wow. 00:19:26.13\00:19:27.46 And she reminds me of that story 00:19:27.50\00:19:29.03 where she came thinking it was about health 00:19:29.06\00:19:31.03 but realized that 00:19:31.07\00:19:32.40 what she needed was that relationship, 00:19:32.43\00:19:33.94 that bond with Christ. 00:19:33.97\00:19:35.90 And then, of course, the rest of her story is to boot. 00:19:35.94\00:19:38.44 Yes. 00:19:38.47\00:19:39.81 Well, that's an amazing story, and yes, that is a miracle. 00:19:39.84\00:19:43.71 It's a double miracle to me, 00:19:43.75\00:19:46.08 you know, to see what you've just said, 00:19:46.11\00:19:50.05 how it transformed her attitude and her whole spiritual walk 00:19:50.09\00:19:55.36 and the physical walk to boot, 00:19:55.39\00:19:57.66 it's just like wow, that actually happened here. 00:19:57.69\00:20:02.36 And, you know, people continually tell me 00:20:02.40\00:20:06.63 they feel the presence of the Lord on our campus. 00:20:06.67\00:20:10.47 They feel it with our students. 00:20:10.51\00:20:12.64 They feel it with our staff, 00:20:12.67\00:20:14.64 of course, with you and the doctors. 00:20:14.68\00:20:17.85 I get so much... 00:20:17.88\00:20:20.65 attaboys, if you will, 00:20:20.68\00:20:22.25 from the doctors who are kind, and loving, and caring. 00:20:22.28\00:20:26.29 These doctors, these men, 00:20:26.32\00:20:28.16 this staff has a Christ-like character. 00:20:28.19\00:20:33.93 They may not be all the way there, 00:20:33.96\00:20:35.70 but I can tell you this, 00:20:35.73\00:20:37.60 that a lot of them are pretty darn close. 00:20:37.63\00:20:41.60 And I just praise God that He doesn't give up on us. 00:20:41.64\00:20:45.74 He keeps wooing us 00:20:45.77\00:20:47.31 and bringing us ever closer to Him. 00:20:47.34\00:20:49.08 Sure. There is something, what you just said, about this. 00:20:49.11\00:20:51.98 It's not just the doctors or the chaplain, the therapist, 00:20:52.01\00:20:58.29 the entire environment has an impact on their health. 00:20:58.32\00:21:02.42 I mean, when she comes here, she's got, you know, 00:21:02.46\00:21:04.49 one of these things in her body, 00:21:04.53\00:21:08.13 a pack that she has to charge up 00:21:08.16\00:21:10.43 to keep a part of her brain in sync, so to speak, 00:21:10.47\00:21:13.67 so that she can walk. 00:21:13.70\00:21:15.74 And so when she first came here, 00:21:15.77\00:21:17.11 you know, she was all just mechanical and robotic. 00:21:17.14\00:21:20.31 Yeah. 00:21:20.34\00:21:21.68 She told me this, 00:21:21.71\00:21:23.04 I had her in session this morning for counseling, 00:21:23.08\00:21:24.75 she... I mean, she is moving near normal. 00:21:24.78\00:21:28.22 Wow. 00:21:28.25\00:21:29.58 So there is this physical healing 00:21:29.62\00:21:30.95 that's also taking place 00:21:30.99\00:21:32.82 in conjunction with the spiritual. 00:21:32.85\00:21:35.32 Both things have happened. Amen, amen. 00:21:35.36\00:21:38.09 We're out of time, brother. I want to thank you so much. 00:21:38.13\00:21:41.76 God bless you and your work here at the NEWSTART program. 00:21:41.80\00:21:45.03 But, friends, don't go away, 00:21:45.07\00:21:47.00 we have an important message for you following this. 00:21:47.04\00:21:50.61 Every year in America, 00:21:53.98\00:21:55.31 there are over one million deaths 00:21:55.34\00:21:56.68 because of type 2 diabetes and chronic obesity. 00:21:56.71\00:21:59.45 This includes heart attacks and strokes. 00:21:59.48\00:22:01.88 That's 6.5 747s crashing every day. 00:22:01.92\00:22:05.45 What's even worse is that the fix is easy. 00:22:05.49\00:22:08.86 It's your lifestyle. 00:22:08.89\00:22:10.49 Wouldn't it be nice if you could actually add 00:22:10.53\00:22:12.33 quality years to your life 00:22:12.36\00:22:13.76 rather than dying one organ at a time? 00:22:13.80\00:22:16.67 Obesity and diabetes are the cause 00:22:16.70\00:22:18.30 of over a million deaths per year. 00:22:18.33\00:22:20.87 Most diseases are reversible 00:22:20.90\00:22:22.94 because most diseases are lifestyle diseases, 00:22:22.97\00:22:25.91 especially type 2 diabetes and chronic obesity. 00:22:25.94\00:22:29.28 Seriously now, they can be reversed 00:22:29.31\00:22:31.61 and the quality of your life can be renewed. 00:22:31.65\00:22:35.18 Call NEWSTART Today at 1-800-525-9192. 00:22:35.22\00:22:41.42 You will see dramatic changes 00:22:41.46\00:22:42.89 in the first few days at our program 00:22:42.92\00:22:44.96 and you will be on the road 00:22:44.99\00:22:46.33 to a better, more robust quality of life. 00:22:46.36\00:22:49.03 The NEWSTART programs are simple and effective. 00:22:49.06\00:22:52.70 Hello, I'm Dr. Neil Nedley, this is NEWSTART Now, 00:22:55.90\00:22:59.44 and with me today is Dr. Eddie Ramirez. 00:22:59.47\00:23:02.18 And, Dr. Ramirez, 00:23:02.21\00:23:03.55 this study actually got a lot of interest 00:23:03.58\00:23:06.78 when it was presented by you in Las Vegas 00:23:06.82\00:23:10.92 at the Sexual Medicine Conference. 00:23:10.95\00:23:13.79 Since that time, it has been published 00:23:13.82\00:23:15.76 in the Journal of Sexual Medicine. 00:23:15.79\00:23:17.99 We're actually going to be talking about two studies 00:23:18.03\00:23:20.66 that were published 00:23:20.70\00:23:22.03 in the Journal of Sexual Medicine 00:23:22.06\00:23:23.57 and produced a lot of questions 00:23:23.60\00:23:26.77 and a lot of interest because it turns out 00:23:26.80\00:23:29.37 this had not really been looked at. 00:23:29.40\00:23:31.57 We're studying sex 00:23:31.61\00:23:33.17 in all sorts of different ways these days 00:23:33.21\00:23:35.54 in the scientific literature, 00:23:35.58\00:23:37.51 but sex in the context of a marriage relationship 00:23:37.55\00:23:41.45 versus not in a marriage relationship 00:23:41.48\00:23:44.12 is something that had not really been looked at. 00:23:44.15\00:23:46.89 And so tell us a little bit 00:23:46.92\00:23:48.66 about where these subjects came from 00:23:48.69\00:23:51.23 and what we were actually analyzing. 00:23:51.26\00:23:54.16 This is a nice, big sample, 00:23:54.20\00:23:55.86 5,621 participants of the community version 00:23:55.90\00:24:00.84 of the depression and recovery program 00:24:00.87\00:24:03.44 from all over the world. 00:24:03.47\00:24:05.54 And what we were looking at is 00:24:05.57\00:24:08.21 what relationship does sexual relationships 00:24:08.24\00:24:11.51 outside of the context of marriage, 00:24:11.55\00:24:14.08 what effect does that have on depression 00:24:14.12\00:24:17.72 and emotional intelligence. 00:24:17.75\00:24:20.26 So, Dr. Ramirez, a lot of people, 00:24:20.29\00:24:22.52 they want to have sex outside of marriage 00:24:22.56\00:24:25.63 because they think it's going to increase their happiness. 00:24:25.66\00:24:29.76 They might even think 00:24:29.80\00:24:31.13 it's one of the treatments for depression. 00:24:31.17\00:24:32.87 You know, they're depressed, 00:24:32.90\00:24:34.24 and so let's have casual sex, let's have it often, 00:24:34.27\00:24:37.41 and let's have it outside of a marriage relationship 00:24:37.44\00:24:41.44 and thus improve their mental health. 00:24:41.48\00:24:45.38 Is that what the study showed 00:24:45.41\00:24:46.75 that it improved the mental health? 00:24:46.78\00:24:48.12 Not necessarily. In fact, we found the opposite. 00:24:48.15\00:24:50.32 Okay. 00:24:50.35\00:24:51.69 Those people involved in sexual relationships 00:24:51.72\00:24:53.79 outside of marriage, 00:24:53.82\00:24:55.29 they actually had the worst indexes 00:24:55.32\00:24:58.13 among mental health 00:24:58.16\00:24:59.79 when we were measuring depression 00:24:59.83\00:25:01.86 by a standardized tool that we use 00:25:01.90\00:25:03.87 the depression and anxiety assessment test. 00:25:03.90\00:25:06.43 Okay, so it's one of those classic examples 00:25:06.47\00:25:08.84 of maybe short-term gain but long-term problems. 00:25:08.87\00:25:12.91 And, of course, that's why people turn to alcohol, 00:25:12.94\00:25:15.11 you know, they think it's going to help them out short-term, 00:25:15.14\00:25:17.18 but it ends up causing a lot more problems long-term. 00:25:17.21\00:25:20.68 And so this group 00:25:20.72\00:25:22.82 that was having sex outside of marriage, 00:25:22.85\00:25:26.32 how did their levels of depression compare? 00:25:26.35\00:25:28.66 So they had a moderate higher on average, 00:25:28.69\00:25:35.56 but some of them had 00:25:35.60\00:25:36.93 that type of severe type of depression, 00:25:36.97\00:25:40.30 those that were involving the sexual relationships 00:25:40.34\00:25:42.80 and sort of marriage. 00:25:42.84\00:25:44.17 While those that were not, usually their levels were 00:25:44.21\00:25:46.88 more of a low moderate level, mild, and so forth. 00:25:46.91\00:25:51.48 Okay. 00:25:51.51\00:25:52.85 So it made a significant difference 00:25:52.88\00:25:54.22 in the severity of depression. 00:25:54.25\00:25:56.08 And what else did you notice? 00:25:56.12\00:25:57.62 Well, we found that there is hope. 00:25:57.65\00:26:00.12 Even those people that were involved 00:26:00.16\00:26:02.76 in sexual relationships outside of marriage, 00:26:02.79\00:26:05.19 as they came to the program, understood the negative effects 00:26:05.23\00:26:09.10 that these have in their mental health 00:26:09.13\00:26:11.53 and stop that behavior, they were among those 00:26:11.57\00:26:15.37 that improved the most in the program 00:26:15.40\00:26:17.51 and were able to come down to no level of depression. 00:26:17.54\00:26:21.51 Okay, so if, during the eight-week program, 00:26:21.54\00:26:24.31 they change that practice, 00:26:24.35\00:26:26.41 they actually improved the most. 00:26:26.45\00:26:28.15 That's right. 00:26:28.18\00:26:29.52 And their levels of depression and anxiety 00:26:29.55\00:26:31.52 were much more likely to go away. 00:26:31.55\00:26:33.82 So if you made mistakes and so forth, 00:26:33.86\00:26:35.69 well, there's hope, you know, 00:26:35.72\00:26:37.06 there's hope of change of behavior, 00:26:37.09\00:26:39.09 and secondary to that, 00:26:39.13\00:26:40.96 you will have an improvement in your mental health. 00:26:41.00\00:26:44.17 Okay, so not only their depression scores 00:26:44.20\00:26:46.53 and anxiety scores improved, 00:26:46.57\00:26:48.40 if they were not having sex outside of marriage, 00:26:48.44\00:26:50.41 but you also did a separate study 00:26:50.44\00:26:52.97 measuring what? 00:26:53.01\00:26:54.34 Emotional intelligence. 00:26:54.38\00:26:56.48 And those with sexual relationships 00:26:56.51\00:26:58.45 outside of the context of marriage 00:26:58.48\00:27:00.42 at the beginning had the worst emotional intelligence. 00:27:00.45\00:27:04.49 Yet those that were able to stop that behavior 00:27:04.52\00:27:08.39 by the end of the program 00:27:08.42\00:27:10.49 improved the most their emotional intelligence, 00:27:10.53\00:27:13.26 coming up to 109.2 on average. 00:27:13.29\00:27:17.63 The nice thing about this is this program 00:27:17.67\00:27:20.10 is actually available to anyone today. 00:27:20.14\00:27:24.21 They can do it in their own home, 00:27:24.24\00:27:25.97 they can do it in a community-based program, 00:27:26.01\00:27:28.31 or they could actually come to Weimar Institute 00:27:28.34\00:27:30.58 and do the residential program, so three options 00:27:30.61\00:27:34.08 for dramatically improving levels of depression, anxiety, 00:27:34.12\00:27:38.35 and emotional intelligence. 00:27:38.39\00:27:40.26 I'm Dr. Neil Nedley, this is NEWSTART Now, 00:27:40.29\00:27:43.49 and join us again next week for another exciting study. 00:27:43.53\00:27:46.86 Well, friends, that's it for today. 00:27:49.86\00:27:51.60 But join us next week for another episode. 00:27:51.63\00:27:54.77 In the meantime, pick up the phone 00:27:54.80\00:27:56.40 and give us a call at 800-525-9192. 00:27:56.44\00:28:02.38 Mentioned the NEWSTART Now program 00:28:02.41\00:28:05.15 and receive the NEWSTART special. 00:28:05.18\00:28:07.68
