Hi, friends, and welcome to another edition 00:01:12.07\00:01:14.27 of NEWSTART Now. 00:01:14.30\00:01:15.97 I'm your host, Ron Giannoni. 00:01:16.00\00:01:18.57 In our studios, we have a lovely young lady 00:01:18.61\00:01:22.04 from halfway around the world 00:01:22.08\00:01:24.01 and I want to take a look at when she first arrived. 00:01:24.05\00:01:29.95 Here to try to reduce my sugar level 00:01:29.98\00:01:33.32 and to lose weight, 00:01:33.36\00:01:34.79 and those were the main reasons I came to NEWSTART, 00:01:34.82\00:01:38.26 because with work and everything in life 00:01:38.29\00:01:41.20 I guess I don't have time, a lot of time to, you know, 00:01:41.23\00:01:45.53 invest in myself and become healthy 00:01:45.57\00:01:47.97 and lose that weight. 00:01:48.00\00:01:49.70 So I... 00:01:49.74\00:01:51.07 Especially with work, 00:01:51.11\00:01:52.97 I'm the type of person that eats when I'm stressed, 00:01:53.01\00:01:56.08 so the more stress then the more I eat. 00:01:56.11\00:01:57.78 So, yeah, coming here is 00:01:57.81\00:02:01.75 kind of investing in myself in becoming more healthy, 00:02:01.78\00:02:05.12 not just for myself but for my daughter. 00:02:05.15\00:02:08.02 You know, she's still five. 00:02:08.06\00:02:09.39 So, you know, I got to at least see her 00:02:09.42\00:02:11.79 until she graduates high school and goes off to college 00:02:11.83\00:02:14.96 and I want to see my sugar levels 00:02:15.00\00:02:17.87 go down below 100. 00:02:17.90\00:02:19.83 That's one. 00:02:19.87\00:02:21.90 Losing weight, becoming thin is not so much a goal for me 00:02:21.94\00:02:24.97 but, and gets feeling better, like, 00:02:25.01\00:02:27.78 having a positive outlook about things, you know. 00:02:27.81\00:02:31.08 Yeah. 00:02:31.11\00:02:33.62 Welcome back, friends. 00:02:33.65\00:02:34.98 Help me welcome Bouveau Anastacia. 00:02:35.02\00:02:38.39 Thank you, Ron. I couldn't go around it. 00:07:36.02\00:07:38.65 How many loops are you taking now? 00:07:38.69\00:07:40.69 Oh, at least five or six... 00:07:40.72\00:07:44.53 You know, I'm not walking the loop here. 00:07:44.56\00:07:46.39 I've a little trail, I walk at home. 00:07:46.43\00:07:48.26 But still, you know. 00:07:48.30\00:07:49.63 Three to five miles a day. Yeah. 00:07:49.66\00:07:51.60 And some days it's very difficult to get in, 00:07:51.63\00:07:54.07 especially during this heat. 00:07:54.10\00:07:56.04 How are you dealing with this heat? 00:07:56.07\00:07:58.24 Now we've been, we're walking later... 00:07:58.27\00:08:00.24 Actually early in the morning it's not as bad. 00:08:00.28\00:08:02.64 And then the later walks will take like 00:08:02.68\00:08:05.21 towards the evening, so it's not as hot. 00:08:05.25\00:08:07.52 Good. 00:08:07.55\00:08:08.88 Does it get like this in Palau? 00:08:08.92\00:08:10.42 Oh, it's, it's like this all year around. 00:08:10.45\00:08:12.49 All year around? 00:08:12.52\00:08:13.86 It's like, it's like 90-90 humidity. 00:08:13.89\00:08:15.22 Because you're near the equator? 00:08:15.26\00:08:16.73 When you're near the equator, so... 00:08:16.76\00:08:18.36 It's hot but, you know, we're by the ocean, 00:08:18.39\00:08:20.50 so you still, you get that breeze. 00:08:20.53\00:08:22.13 Yeah. Yeah. 00:08:22.16\00:08:23.50 So it's okay. 00:08:23.53\00:08:24.87 So what you gonna do when you get home? 00:08:24.90\00:08:26.67 You're gonna start classes? 00:08:26.70\00:08:29.67 Well, I'm gonna start pulling people 00:08:29.70\00:08:32.27 into joining me on my walks, that's first. 00:08:32.31\00:08:34.58 Good. The second is... 00:08:34.61\00:08:38.11 I guess slowly integrating the meals to my family 00:08:38.15\00:08:41.15 and then to my friends, you know. 00:08:41.18\00:08:43.59 Good for you. 00:08:43.62\00:08:44.95 I really do feel the difference, Ron, 00:08:44.99\00:08:46.55 without the meat products, I, you know, I feel a lot lighter. 00:08:46.59\00:08:50.69 Do you eat a lot of meat in Palau? 00:08:50.73\00:08:52.09 Yeah, we do eat a lot of meat in Palau's. 00:08:52.13\00:08:53.80 Fish? 00:08:53.83\00:08:55.16 Fish, a lot of fish and pork. 00:08:55.20\00:08:57.63 Pork? Yeah. 00:09:07.18\00:09:09.28 It reminds me of a couple of other islands I visited there 00:09:09.31\00:09:12.25 and they just have the big pig on the roaster, you know, 00:09:12.28\00:09:15.08 wow, you know. 00:09:15.12\00:09:16.45 Well, back in those days I was eating meat. 00:09:16.48\00:09:18.32 So I didn't think much of it. Yeah. 00:11:17.07\00:11:19.11 She found that she didn't have to be depressed 00:11:19.14\00:11:22.28 and talk to us about that, doctor? 00:11:22.31\00:11:24.88 You know, Bouveau is just a sweet lady. 00:11:24.91\00:11:28.75 I was impressed with her personality 00:11:28.78\00:11:30.82 from the first time we met. 00:11:30.85\00:11:32.89 And to see how she accepted and implemented the things 00:11:32.92\00:11:38.59 that we were asking to do. 00:11:38.63\00:11:41.46 One of the things that we tell the guests 00:11:41.50\00:11:42.93 when they come here is that 00:11:42.96\00:11:44.33 you really need to do everything. 00:11:44.37\00:11:48.64 Start developing new habits from day one. 00:11:48.67\00:11:51.87 Don't wait until the end or think, oh, 00:11:51.91\00:11:54.01 when I get home I'll get this sorted out. 00:11:54.04\00:11:56.85 Start doing it from now. You have an opportunity here. 00:11:56.88\00:11:59.78 You know, I tell the guests on the orientation night, 00:11:59.81\00:12:02.32 you're here, you're not working, 00:12:02.35\00:12:05.02 you don't have to clean, you don't have to cook, 00:12:05.05\00:12:07.66 you have a lot of time and you need to use that time. 00:12:07.69\00:12:11.53 And especially those who want to get off of medicines, 00:12:11.56\00:12:14.30 I tell them, they have to replace their medicine 00:12:14.33\00:12:17.17 with a new medicine 00:12:17.20\00:12:18.97 and the new medicine is walking. 00:12:19.00\00:12:20.67 Yeah. 00:12:20.70\00:12:22.04 Bouveau was getting up every morning at 5 am. 00:12:22.07\00:12:25.14 She was going out 00:12:25.17\00:12:26.51 and she was motivating others to go and walk with her. 00:12:26.54\00:12:29.24 She was walking with Matt. 00:12:29.28\00:12:30.65 Matt. Yeah. 00:12:30.68\00:12:32.38 Yeah, she was walking with Matt, 00:12:32.41\00:12:33.75 and she was walking with a couple other guests, 00:12:33.78\00:12:35.12 and she would motivate them to get up 00:12:35.15\00:12:36.89 and get going at five. 00:12:36.92\00:12:38.52 And they would walk for over an hour in the morning 00:12:38.55\00:12:42.16 but that wasn't all the walking they were doing, 00:12:42.19\00:12:43.96 they would still walk through the day 00:12:43.99\00:12:45.33 even in the heat. 00:12:45.36\00:12:46.76 How is it though, I got to ask this question. 00:12:46.80\00:12:49.53 You know, a lot of our guests come here, 00:12:49.56\00:12:51.13 they are depressed as you know. 00:12:51.17\00:12:53.10 How is that just a simple lifestyle change 00:12:53.13\00:12:56.91 gets them out of this depression? 00:12:56.94\00:12:59.14 Well, you know, God works through 00:12:59.17\00:13:01.21 very simple natural remedies. 00:13:01.24\00:13:03.85 By changing her diet, by getting more exercise, 00:13:03.88\00:13:10.69 she gets better circulation. 00:13:10.72\00:13:12.92 Better circulation to your frontal lobe 00:13:12.95\00:13:15.59 is very important to help make depression better. 00:13:15.62\00:13:19.19 Endorphins. Endorphins. 00:13:19.23\00:13:21.50 By exercising, 00:13:21.53\00:13:23.70 you change your endorphins, you change your mood, 00:13:23.73\00:13:27.67 getting up early and exercising in the early morning sunlight 00:13:27.70\00:13:31.91 gives her more serotonin in her brain 00:13:31.94\00:13:35.08 and serotonin is your feel good hormone. 00:13:35.11\00:13:37.71 It's what makes you have contentment and happiness 00:13:37.75\00:13:40.52 and feel better about life. 00:13:40.55\00:13:41.95 Then you can sleep better at night. 00:13:41.98\00:13:43.32 Than you can sleep better. 00:13:43.35\00:13:44.69 As you increase your water intake, 00:13:44.72\00:13:46.86 your blood is thinner, 00:13:46.89\00:13:48.22 so it's easier to pump, it's easier to circulate, 00:13:48.26\00:13:50.23 it starts bringing your blood pressure down, 00:13:50.26\00:13:52.26 that was something else that she had 00:13:52.29\00:13:53.63 a little bit of high blood pressure, 00:13:53.66\00:13:55.03 a little bit of high blood sugar. 00:13:55.06\00:13:57.57 By exercising, you up regulate more insulin receptors 00:13:57.60\00:14:03.41 on the surface of cells and that makes the insulin 00:14:03.44\00:14:07.54 that you already have in your body work better, 00:14:07.58\00:14:10.65 so her blood sugar started to come down. 00:14:10.68\00:14:12.75 Oh, it's so awesome. 00:14:12.78\00:14:14.35 Man, she's just a different person. 00:14:14.38\00:14:16.02 She really is. 00:14:16.05\00:14:17.39 And, you know, during my presentation on Sabbath, 00:14:17.42\00:14:22.09 I said to her, where are you from? 00:14:22.12\00:14:23.83 She says Palau. I said, guess what? 00:14:23.86\00:14:26.90 We have a guest coming from Palau next month. 00:14:26.93\00:14:30.17 She says, yeah, I know that's my mother. 00:14:30.20\00:14:32.63 Did you know that? 00:14:32.67\00:14:34.00 Well, I talked to her dad actually. 00:14:34.04\00:14:36.30 I knew her mother was interested in coming, 00:14:36.34\00:14:37.97 but her father is sick right now as well. 00:14:38.01\00:14:40.28 He needs to be with her. And he's, he... 00:14:40.31\00:14:42.31 I talk to him and he is thinking 00:14:42.34\00:14:44.68 very seriously about coming next month. 00:14:44.71\00:14:46.45 And I told Bouveau, 00:14:46.48\00:14:47.82 she should just come back with him. 00:14:47.85\00:14:49.18 Yeah, although it would be just awesome. 00:14:49.22\00:14:50.85 Wouldn't that be great? Oh, yes. 00:14:50.89\00:14:52.35 But, you know what? 00:14:52.39\00:14:53.72 The thing that impressed me the most about Bouveau, 00:14:53.76\00:14:56.89 is that she was willing to do whatever it took. 00:14:56.93\00:15:01.96 I had other guests who have come to our program 00:15:02.00\00:15:05.50 and they're here 00:15:05.53\00:15:08.10 and they don't get very involved, 00:15:08.14\00:15:10.11 they don't come to lectures, 00:15:10.14\00:15:11.94 they don't walk as much as they should, 00:15:11.97\00:15:14.41 they sit, they talk, they enjoy the fellowship, 00:15:14.44\00:15:18.21 but they really don't take to heart. 00:15:18.25\00:15:20.92 The ones who take it to heart and do everything 00:15:20.95\00:15:25.19 are the ones who have the best results. 00:15:25.22\00:15:27.49 And I was just so impressed that Bouveau was willing to do 00:15:27.52\00:15:30.09 whatever it took to get better. 00:15:30.13\00:15:32.59 And we've seen our Bouveaus throughout the years. 00:15:32.63\00:15:35.20 Absolutely. And I would be one of them. 00:15:35.23\00:15:38.20 Yeah. Amen. Thank God. 00:15:38.23\00:15:40.04 Because I wasn't gonna miss a meeting, 00:15:40.07\00:15:42.00 I wasn't gonna be late, I want to make sure 00:15:42.04\00:15:44.27 I got it all because I was dying. 00:15:44.31\00:15:47.34 Who wouldn't want to be at all the meetings in a tent? 00:15:47.38\00:15:50.48 You know, what I mean? So it's spot on. 00:15:50.51\00:15:52.38 And the other thing is you spent good money. 00:15:52.41\00:15:53.88 That's right. 00:15:53.92\00:15:55.25 You don't want to spend the money 00:15:55.28\00:15:56.62 and then miss something. 00:15:56.65\00:15:57.99 And, no, I was gonna get my money's worth. 00:15:58.02\00:15:59.42 Let me tell you... How about that? 00:16:02.76\00:16:04.83 See, how God is good? 00:16:04.86\00:16:06.19 Good is good. Praise the Lord. 00:16:06.23\00:16:07.63 I want to thank you. Right. 00:17:28.44\00:17:30.21 I'm excited to talk about Bouveau. 00:17:30.25\00:17:31.71 Oh, yeah. 00:17:31.75\00:17:33.08 Well, here's a lady from halfway around the world. 00:17:33.11\00:17:36.28 She doesn't know much about Christianity, 00:17:36.32\00:17:40.29 anything about the Bible 00:17:40.32\00:17:42.62 and she's a young lady and she's so open. 00:17:42.66\00:17:47.16 What say ye? 00:17:47.20\00:17:48.90 Wow, Bouveau is the perfect demographic 00:17:48.93\00:17:52.27 in our opinion. 00:17:52.30\00:17:53.67 You know, George Barna releases all these reports, 00:17:53.70\00:17:56.77 he goes all over the world, even in our church 00:17:56.81\00:17:58.67 he's done some recent ones. 00:17:58.71\00:18:00.08 And this age group is what's missing from our church, 00:18:00.11\00:18:02.58 from all Christian churches. 00:18:02.61\00:18:03.98 These late 20s to, you know, mid to late 30s are just gone. 00:18:04.01\00:18:09.22 They're interested in all kinds of other things. 00:18:09.25\00:18:11.92 And she comes from across the world, right? 00:18:11.95\00:18:15.79 She gets here and she obviously, 00:18:15.82\00:18:17.56 you know, talking to her a little bit, 00:18:17.59\00:18:18.93 she has no Christian background whatsoever, 00:18:18.96\00:18:22.20 but she comes here because of her health. 00:18:22.23\00:18:23.93 She had a tragedy in her family, 00:18:23.97\00:18:26.07 a brother that was, shouldn't have died, 00:18:26.10\00:18:28.67 but did from health related issues. 00:18:28.70\00:18:30.77 So her family got on her a little bit 00:18:30.81\00:18:33.24 to go get checked up and she gets checked up. 00:18:33.27\00:18:35.44 And what did she found out at 30? 00:18:35.48\00:18:37.75 She's got some numbers that are given her 00:18:37.78\00:18:40.68 some scary future portents of things to come 00:18:40.72\00:18:43.45 if she doesn't change. 00:18:43.49\00:18:44.82 So that drives her to come here. 00:18:44.85\00:18:47.06 It's like, she doesn't want to end up the same way 00:18:47.09\00:18:48.89 and so she comes here for that fact. 00:18:48.92\00:18:51.29 But within two or three days of the fresh start lecture, 00:18:51.33\00:18:54.43 I noticed that, Bouveau is like honed in 00:18:54.46\00:18:57.37 on what I'm saying. 00:18:57.40\00:18:58.73 So I think I have her like the third day 00:18:58.77\00:19:00.20 I have a counseling session with her. 00:19:00.24\00:19:01.90 And so we're doing the chit-chat and a small talk 00:19:01.94\00:19:04.31 and I just start asking her 00:19:04.34\00:19:05.67 about her relationship with God. 00:19:05.71\00:19:07.61 And, you know, God... 00:19:07.64\00:19:08.98 And she's like I don't know God at all, 00:19:09.01\00:19:10.75 I don't have a relationship. 00:19:10.78\00:19:12.11 She was raised in some, some Christian background 00:19:12.15\00:19:14.75 just a little bit, but no knowledge of the Bible, 00:19:14.78\00:19:17.19 no knowledge of God, hasn't been living for God. 00:19:17.22\00:19:19.35 And as we're talking about God, I'm just amazed because, 00:19:19.39\00:19:22.92 at looking she starts weeping, her eyes are tearing up, 00:19:22.96\00:19:25.83 you know, she starts being very emotional about this idea 00:19:25.86\00:19:29.83 and she bows her head to me and she says, 00:19:29.86\00:19:32.03 I know I need God in my life. 00:19:32.07\00:19:33.94 Wow. 00:19:33.97\00:19:35.30 Coming here, just being here three days, 00:19:35.34\00:19:37.71 jogged that, that desire in her. 00:19:37.74\00:19:40.61 Isn't that something? Praise God. 00:19:40.64\00:19:43.58 You know, I don't know if you know 00:19:43.61\00:19:44.95 but the health message, this program, 00:19:44.98\00:19:48.28 the NEWSTART program is what brought me to the Lord 00:19:48.32\00:19:52.29 and it's doing the same for many, many people, 00:19:52.32\00:19:54.99 hundreds and thousands of people. 00:19:55.02\00:19:57.03 And it's so good to hear you talk about Bouveau 00:19:57.06\00:20:00.86 and her wanting and the weeping that shows me some sincerity. 00:20:00.90\00:20:06.33 Now and right, she's... 00:20:06.37\00:20:08.14 I know she's serious about it 00:20:08.17\00:20:09.50 because she's taken Bible studies. 00:20:09.54\00:20:11.31 She is now committed to doing a DVD study, 00:20:11.34\00:20:15.34 going back home finding out more religious things. 00:20:15.38\00:20:18.85 And it is true, it is true that a person coming here for health 00:20:18.88\00:20:23.59 will automatically open up to the gospel, 00:20:23.62\00:20:25.55 it is just the way it works. 00:20:25.59\00:20:27.29 You know, when the mind starts to heal 00:20:27.32\00:20:29.36 and the body starts to feel good 00:20:29.39\00:20:31.46 and you start thinking about the physical body 00:20:31.49\00:20:33.40 and not wanting to die physically in this world, 00:20:33.43\00:20:36.16 you don't want disease, you don't want a heart attack, 00:20:36.20\00:20:38.53 the natural thought is, what about my eternal life? 00:20:38.57\00:20:41.67 What about the spiritual world? It is just an easy transition. 00:20:41.70\00:20:45.47 So if you're here to get healed for that, 00:20:45.51\00:20:47.71 it just makes common sense, why not find out 00:20:47.74\00:20:50.88 what God has for me spiritually? 00:20:50.91\00:20:53.58 And I think it's just a natural flow of thought 00:20:53.62\00:20:56.08 for people to go to. 00:20:56.12\00:20:58.05 You know, I had a different chaplain 00:20:58.09\00:21:02.06 or pastor when I came. 00:21:02.09\00:21:04.43 And I'm asking him and I'm asking the doctors 00:21:04.46\00:21:06.76 and something's going on here, guys, what is this? 00:21:06.80\00:21:10.47 What you mean? 00:21:10.50\00:21:11.87 I said, everywhere I go people are praying. 00:21:11.90\00:21:14.57 He says, well, we're Christian. 00:21:14.60\00:21:16.54 I go, I know. But so am I. 00:21:16.57\00:21:18.57 Well, I was baptized but I never went to church, 00:21:18.61\00:21:21.54 not, since I was about 12. 00:21:21.58\00:21:23.48 But nonetheless it's amazing 00:21:23.51\00:21:27.55 the people that come here for health 00:21:27.58\00:21:31.92 and right away realize that 00:21:31.95\00:21:34.36 they need the spiritual counselling. 00:21:34.39\00:21:36.59 And I'm so grateful that you're the guy delivering it. 00:21:36.62\00:21:39.39 Well, and you've heard the stories. 00:21:39.43\00:21:40.80 I mean, I've been here just over a year now. 00:21:40.83\00:21:43.37 And if I've heard it once, I've heard it dozens of times. 00:21:43.40\00:21:46.07 I came here for health reasons and I had no clue 00:21:46.10\00:21:50.54 that it was spiritual that I truly was yearning for. 00:21:50.57\00:21:53.74 And so they got the benefit of both, but really, 00:21:53.78\00:21:56.61 then they can accept, you know, 00:21:56.64\00:21:58.11 whatever God has for me in my life 00:21:58.15\00:21:59.68 and they can kind of move forward in that idea 00:21:59.71\00:22:02.52 that God is going to heal you physically 00:22:02.55\00:22:05.05 but also spiritually and that's the greater healing. 00:22:05.09\00:22:08.12 Amen. 00:22:08.16\00:22:09.86 I want to thank you pastor for coming. 00:22:09.89\00:22:12.23 We appreciate your time. 00:22:12.26\00:22:13.60 I know you are a busy guy, saving souls. 00:22:13.63\00:22:16.33 But thank you, friends, 00:22:16.36\00:22:17.70 don't go away Dr. Nedley is up next. 00:22:17.73\00:22:22.77 This is NEWSTART Now. Thanks for joining us. 00:22:22.80\00:22:25.24 I'm Dr. Neil Nedley, president of Weimar Institute. 00:22:25.27\00:22:28.01 And with me today is Dr. Eddie Ramirez, 00:22:28.04\00:22:30.51 physician, researcher, 00:22:30.55\00:22:32.45 and professor at Weimar College. 00:22:32.48\00:22:35.62 Today we're gonna be looking at a study 00:22:35.65\00:22:37.39 that one of our students helped out 00:22:37.42\00:22:39.05 with Lance Draper Hofer, 00:22:39.09\00:22:41.86 I'm sure soon to be a physician. 00:22:41.89\00:22:43.86 He's a pre-med student here. 00:22:43.89\00:22:45.96 And although he had a very challenging background 00:22:45.99\00:22:49.16 being raised, 00:22:49.20\00:22:50.53 actually being in jail at age 15 and 16. 00:22:50.57\00:22:53.90 He has had a dramatic turnaround here 00:22:53.94\00:22:56.20 at Weimar Institute. 00:22:56.24\00:22:57.61 He came here on probation 00:22:57.64\00:22:59.44 and he has flourished in our pre-med program 00:22:59.47\00:23:03.48 and with the Weimar Lifestyle. 00:23:03.51\00:23:05.11 The NEWSTART principles are not only for people 00:23:05.15\00:23:07.65 that come to the NEWSTART program 00:23:07.68\00:23:09.55 but also for our students as well. 00:23:09.58\00:23:12.55 But this takes a look at a vulnerable group 00:23:12.59\00:23:15.42 of people in America. 00:23:15.46\00:23:16.96 Tell us what group we're looking at here today, 00:23:16.99\00:23:18.86 Dr. Ramirez? 00:23:18.89\00:23:20.23 We were focusing on this study, 00:23:20.26\00:23:22.16 on those people that didn't grow up 00:23:22.20\00:23:24.57 with both biological parents at home. 00:23:24.60\00:23:27.24 Okay. 00:23:27.27\00:23:28.60 And that actually is 75% of Americans today. 00:23:28.64\00:23:31.84 I'm sorry to say, only 25% of Americans 00:23:31.87\00:23:36.54 are being raised by both biological parents 00:23:36.58\00:23:38.78 at the same time from 0 to 18, a record low numbers 00:23:38.81\00:23:42.78 and it continues to go down in our society today. 00:23:42.82\00:23:47.02 And what the study show is, 00:23:47.06\00:23:49.62 this threatens your mental health significantly. 00:23:49.66\00:23:53.19 It's actually healthier to grow up 00:23:53.23\00:23:55.20 with both biological parents. 00:23:55.23\00:23:57.37 Which ways did you find out it threatened 00:23:57.40\00:23:59.70 the mental health of this day? 00:23:59.73\00:24:02.04 What we were calculating is to see 00:24:02.07\00:24:05.21 what is the probability that this particular population 00:24:05.24\00:24:09.38 will be involved in sexual relationships 00:24:09.41\00:24:11.51 outside of marriage, 00:24:11.55\00:24:13.45 many times that lack of intimacy and support, 00:24:13.48\00:24:18.25 these type of people try to find that 00:24:18.29\00:24:21.12 in the wrong places. 00:24:21.16\00:24:22.66 And there is pain and negative consequences 00:24:22.69\00:24:27.13 as a result of that type of behavior. 00:24:27.16\00:24:29.50 So really it's adding insult to injury 00:24:29.53\00:24:33.07 because what we've previously shown in our studies, 00:24:33.10\00:24:37.21 actually presented 00:24:37.24\00:24:38.97 in the Journal of Sexual Medicine is that, 00:24:39.01\00:24:41.38 when you have sex outside of marriage, 00:24:41.41\00:24:44.01 you're gonna become more depressed and anxious, 00:24:44.05\00:24:45.98 your emotional intelligence are gonna go down. 00:24:46.01\00:24:48.35 And so they're already a threatened group 00:24:48.38\00:24:50.15 because they're not being raised 00:24:50.19\00:24:51.52 by both biological parents 00:24:51.55\00:24:53.05 and then they tend to self sabotage unknowingly 00:24:53.09\00:24:55.99 of course because a lot of times 00:24:56.02\00:24:57.46 people aren't aware of these effects. 00:24:57.49\00:24:59.96 And yeah, they had a relative risk 00:25:00.00\00:25:02.70 of 1.35 of being involved 00:25:02.73\00:25:06.10 in these sexual relationships outside of marriage. 00:25:06.13\00:25:09.74 Okay, so 35% increase risk of doing so. 00:25:09.77\00:25:16.18 Where is this study? Is it... 00:25:16.21\00:25:19.05 It hasn't been published yet? Yeah. 00:25:19.08\00:25:20.75 They like it so much that they actually invited me 00:25:20.78\00:25:23.02 to present this before the Sexual meeting in Congress 00:25:23.05\00:25:28.89 and this will be published later next year 00:25:28.92\00:25:32.99 in the Journal of Sexual Medicine. 00:25:33.03\00:25:35.16 Okay, so it hasn't been published yet, 00:25:35.20\00:25:37.50 but look for it in the Journal of Sexual Medicine. 00:25:37.53\00:25:40.34 Anything else we can learn from this study, Dr. Ramirez? 00:25:40.37\00:25:42.70 Yes. 00:25:42.74\00:25:44.07 What we found out is that the improvement 00:25:44.11\00:25:47.71 is actually available also for that group. 00:25:47.74\00:25:50.45 So not because you grew up 00:25:50.48\00:25:53.28 in this type of dysfunctional family, 00:25:53.31\00:25:55.85 there is still hope for your mental health 00:25:55.88\00:25:59.35 as you implement all these different aspects 00:25:59.39\00:26:02.46 of the lifestyle that we're proposing, 00:26:02.49\00:26:04.69 then your mental health improves as a result of that. 00:26:04.73\00:26:07.73 That's wonderful, because often we think that 00:26:07.76\00:26:10.10 the brains cannot change in this type of people 00:26:10.13\00:26:12.93 and that they're just going to continue to self sabotage. 00:26:12.97\00:26:16.60 But this program actually was an intervention program 00:26:16.64\00:26:20.64 where they were able to dramatically improve 00:26:20.68\00:26:23.51 despite their vulnerability and despite them 00:26:23.55\00:26:26.28 having sex outside of marriage. 00:26:26.31\00:26:28.58 So there is definitely hope. 00:26:28.62\00:26:31.72 One thing that you can do first step 00:26:31.75\00:26:33.52 is stop that behavior. 00:26:33.56\00:26:34.89 You know, that behavior does not bring 00:26:34.92\00:26:37.96 good mental health in the long term, 00:26:37.99\00:26:40.20 that's what we have published in the past and then seek help. 00:26:40.23\00:26:45.50 Being involved in this type of eight week 00:26:45.53\00:26:48.07 depression program 00:26:48.10\00:26:49.44 can have many benefits in your overall health, 00:26:49.47\00:26:52.57 not only on your mental health. 00:26:52.61\00:26:54.68 There are three options, the home base version 00:26:54.71\00:26:57.15 of the depression and anxiety recovery program, 00:26:57.18\00:26:59.65 the community based version of the depression 00:26:59.68\00:27:01.52 and anxiety recovery program and if needed, 00:27:01.55\00:27:04.85 coming yourself here to Weimar Institute 00:27:04.89\00:27:08.89 and actually participating in the residential depression 00:27:08.92\00:27:12.23 and anxiety recovery program. 00:27:12.26\00:27:14.53 Choose the option that's best for you 00:27:14.56\00:27:17.10 and get the help you need today. 00:27:17.13\00:27:19.37 This is NEWSTART Now. 00:27:19.40\00:27:20.84 I'm Dr. Neil Nedley and join us again next week 00:27:20.87\00:27:23.54 for another exciting study. 00:27:23.57\00:27:24.91 Well, friends, that's it for today, 00:27:28.84\00:27:30.48 but join us next week for another episode. 00:27:30.51\00:27:33.72 In the meantime, pick up the phone 00:27:33.75\00:27:35.32 and give us a call at 1-800-525-9192. 00:27:35.35\00:27:41.16 Mention the NEWSTART Now program 00:27:41.19\00:27:43.96 and receive the NEWSTART special. 00:27:43.99\00:27:46.59
