Aren't you... 00:08:06.18\00:08:08.72 Well, I think so, yes, I think for the most part. 00:08:08.75\00:08:11.05 But, you know, there's an old saying, 00:08:11.09\00:08:12.42 fake it till you make it too. 00:08:12.45\00:08:15.16 And there were times that I literally, 00:08:15.19\00:08:16.86 I did literally fake it 00:08:16.89\00:08:18.96 because I didn't feel that good, 00:08:18.99\00:08:21.56 but to me, we've been watching all these videos on depression 00:08:21.60\00:08:26.50 with Dr. Natalie. 00:08:26.53\00:08:27.97 Yes. 00:08:28.00\00:08:29.34 And I identified with many of the signs 00:08:29.37\00:08:32.04 and symptoms of depression. 00:08:32.07\00:08:34.14 Yes. And my weight gained. 00:08:34.18\00:08:37.28 It impaired not only my life but my husband's life socially, 00:08:37.31\00:08:41.55 even dressing to go to church became very difficult 00:08:41.58\00:08:44.92 and I just didn't realize 00:08:44.95\00:08:47.96 really until I got into this program 00:08:47.99\00:08:50.99 and then I heard one of the girls say 00:08:51.03\00:08:52.39 in one of our lectures, our lectures are outstanding, 00:08:52.43\00:08:54.76 they're absolutely outstanding. 00:08:54.80\00:08:56.60 And, you know, it's kind of bullet point and easy to follow 00:08:56.63\00:08:59.87 and easy to understand. 00:08:59.90\00:09:02.04 And, you know, each lecture 00:09:02.07\00:09:05.04 is just something new and interesting, 00:09:05.07\00:09:07.34 and how can you have that many lectures a day 00:09:07.38\00:09:09.14 and still keep learning something? 00:09:09.18\00:09:11.15 Now are you walking now or are you swimming? 00:09:11.18\00:09:14.62 I know you were going to the swimming pool. 00:09:14.65\00:09:15.98 I was into the swimming program. 00:09:16.02\00:09:17.65 But for me, I had to make a decision 00:09:17.69\00:09:21.32 and I was going to miss the cooking lab 00:09:21.36\00:09:23.29 if I did the swimming program, 00:09:23.32\00:09:25.29 so I decided to do the cooking program 00:09:25.33\00:09:28.46 because I can swim at home, 00:09:28.50\00:09:29.90 I have the way of doing that, 00:09:29.93\00:09:31.60 and I'm going to get a swim coach 00:09:31.63\00:09:33.60 and do some aerobic exercises. 00:09:33.64\00:09:35.54 And how is your walking? I have a problem with walking. 00:09:35.57\00:09:37.61 Well, I have a problem with walking. 00:09:37.64\00:09:39.17 Three years ago I fell and I have rods and plates 00:09:39.21\00:09:42.98 and so forth in my left leg. 00:09:43.01\00:09:44.35 Yes. 00:09:44.38\00:09:45.71 The walking, I tried, 00:09:45.75\00:09:47.15 but I ended up with such severe sciatica 00:09:47.18\00:09:49.98 that I had to back off from the walking, 00:09:50.02\00:09:51.79 but everybody else that's walking I mean, 00:09:51.82\00:09:53.46 they're just doing incredible. 00:09:53.49\00:09:55.16 And so do you feel those pins and such that are in your... 00:09:55.19\00:10:01.00 I think you said, towards your ankle. 00:10:01.03\00:10:03.47 My ankle and my, yeah, my left leg, 00:10:03.50\00:10:06.63 I've got a rod that goes from here 00:10:06.67\00:10:08.00 and plates on both sides of the ankle yes. 00:10:08.04\00:10:10.51 Martha, I want to thank you for taking your time 00:10:10.54\00:10:13.07 and being willing to share your testimony. 00:10:13.11\00:10:15.81 Well. 00:10:15.84\00:10:17.18 Thank you so much, Martha. Our Medical Director. 00:10:31.06\00:10:33.40 You've been with us now, what, two and a half years? 00:10:33.43\00:10:35.23 Two and a half years, yes. 00:10:35.26\00:10:36.63 Wow, seems just like yesterday. 00:10:36.67\00:10:38.87 Yeah, that's right. 00:10:38.90\00:10:40.24 You know, I want to talk about Martha for sure, 00:10:40.27\00:10:43.10 but I want to talk about you a little bit. 00:10:43.14\00:10:44.77 Okay. 00:10:44.81\00:10:46.14 Because, you know, the viewers don't know 00:10:46.17\00:10:48.18 when they see here's doctor so and so and such and such, 00:10:48.21\00:10:51.91 they really don't know 00:10:51.95\00:10:53.28 they just figure just another doctor, 00:10:53.31\00:10:55.78 and I have a different perspective 00:10:55.82\00:10:58.02 of our doctors here at NEWSTART, 00:10:58.05\00:11:01.56 like when people call and say 00:11:01.59\00:11:03.22 "Do you have a cardiologist on staff?" 00:11:03.26\00:11:05.43 And I go well, "We've got that not only know cardiology." 00:11:05.46\00:11:11.63 But you got your training 00:11:11.67\00:11:14.14 basically in an ER situation, right? 00:11:14.17\00:11:16.91 I'm an emergency physician, that's right. 00:11:16.94\00:11:19.11 And you know when you say this, it makes me think of a slide 00:11:19.14\00:11:21.61 I just showed to some of our guests that, 00:11:21.64\00:11:26.21 "It doesn't matter how good your physician is 00:11:26.25\00:11:29.45 or how good your hospital is 00:11:29.48\00:11:31.62 or if you're on the very best medicines, 00:11:31.65\00:11:34.72 that doesn't matter in longevity 00:11:34.76\00:11:36.93 in making your life healthier." 00:11:36.96\00:11:39.49 So what's the key? 00:11:39.53\00:11:41.00 The key is the choices you're willing to make 00:11:41.03\00:11:45.30 because if you make lifestyle choices, 00:11:45.33\00:11:47.77 you don't need a cardiologist, 00:11:47.80\00:11:49.94 you don't need a super duper hospital, 00:11:49.97\00:11:52.87 your body will take care of itself, 00:11:52.91\00:11:55.74 that's the way God created us. 00:11:55.78\00:11:57.11 Amen. 00:11:57.15\00:11:58.48 That's the difference with our doctors here 00:11:58.51\00:12:01.42 and the ones in the world, I see that very clearly 00:12:01.45\00:12:03.79 but you expressed it so nicely. 00:12:03.82\00:12:06.86 So what about Martha now? 00:12:06.89\00:12:09.12 You know, when she first got here, 00:12:09.16\00:12:10.86 she was all bubbly and everything, 00:12:10.89\00:12:12.66 but we could see through that, little bit of anxiety, 00:12:12.69\00:12:16.16 depression as she has expressed. 00:12:16.20\00:12:18.30 Yes. 00:12:18.33\00:12:19.67 So we're not letting something out of the closet here. 00:12:19.70\00:12:21.94 No. So, wonderful lady. 00:12:21.97\00:12:23.91 Wonderful lady. 00:12:23.94\00:12:25.27 Her husband is a surgeon? 00:12:25.31\00:12:27.41 He's a urologist. 00:12:27.44\00:12:28.78 A urologist, what do they do? 00:12:28.81\00:12:30.31 They take care of plumbing problems. 00:12:30.35\00:12:32.85 Ah. Yeah, yeah. 00:12:32.88\00:12:35.22 So he takes care of people 00:12:35.25\00:12:37.09 with bladder, kidney type disease, 00:12:37.12\00:12:41.26 difficulty urinating, things like that. 00:12:41.29\00:12:44.09 And Martha is a wonderful person. 00:12:44.13\00:12:45.46 She's actually from North Carolina 00:12:45.49\00:12:46.90 before we moved here, 00:12:46.93\00:12:48.30 we used to live in North Carolina, 00:12:48.33\00:12:49.73 so I feel a special closeness to her. 00:12:49.76\00:12:52.53 Well, she lives in the time 00:12:52.57\00:12:54.04 where my daughter just moved from. 00:12:54.07\00:12:56.34 Oh, well, okay. She now lives in Charlotte. 00:12:56.37\00:12:58.51 Yeah. 00:12:58.54\00:12:59.87 Just a little ways away, yeah. 00:12:59.91\00:13:02.21 And we have some good friends who live in Hendersonville 00:13:02.24\00:13:04.85 where she's from so yeah. 00:13:04.88\00:13:07.42 But Martha is a wonderful person. 00:13:07.45\00:13:10.09 She came here and she has some health challenges 00:13:10.12\00:13:13.99 including she has some bladder problems herself, 00:13:14.02\00:13:18.66 and gets frequent urinary tract infections 00:13:18.69\00:13:22.60 and actually got one while she was here 00:13:22.63\00:13:25.17 and we did some natural things that gave her some improvement 00:13:25.20\00:13:28.30 but didn't completely clear it up 00:13:28.34\00:13:29.94 which is her track history. 00:13:29.97\00:13:31.97 And so she actually ended up 00:13:32.01\00:13:33.44 getting some treatment for that, 00:13:33.48\00:13:35.31 and she did well while she was here. 00:13:35.34\00:13:38.31 She was walking a little bit better 00:13:38.35\00:13:40.55 because of the situation with her ankle 00:13:40.58\00:13:43.55 and some metal plates and screws. 00:13:43.59\00:13:46.76 That's right, that's right. 00:13:46.79\00:13:48.12 And she also has some sciatica 00:13:48.16\00:13:49.99 some pain that radiates down her leg, 00:13:50.03\00:13:52.63 and so it limited some of her exercise, 00:13:52.66\00:13:54.66 but she was willing, willing to do what she could, 00:13:54.70\00:13:56.97 and we even tried using a stationary cycle 00:13:57.00\00:13:59.67 and some different things, 00:13:59.70\00:14:01.04 and she does do some exercise in the water. 00:14:01.07\00:14:05.27 Yes. 00:14:05.31\00:14:06.64 And we didn't have that as available here 00:14:06.68\00:14:08.54 as she does at home, 00:14:08.58\00:14:10.11 and I actually just talked to her today 00:14:10.15\00:14:12.61 and she just got back home 00:14:12.65\00:14:14.72 and is doing some of that planning 00:14:14.75\00:14:18.32 to get active again, but she's still doing well, 00:14:18.35\00:14:20.66 still losing weight and... 00:14:20.69\00:14:22.19 That's awesome. Yeah. 00:14:22.22\00:14:23.76 You know this is a good segue into a little commercial, 00:14:23.79\00:14:28.80 you know, we're building a new lodge. 00:14:28.83\00:14:30.37 Yes. 00:14:30.40\00:14:31.73 Weimar's lodge has been here for eons 00:14:31.77\00:14:34.67 and now we're going to build a new one 00:14:34.70\00:14:36.94 that will take care of not only a NEWSTART guests, 00:14:36.97\00:14:40.31 but the depression recovery guests. 00:14:40.34\00:14:42.71 Yes. 00:14:42.74\00:14:44.08 And somewhere around the center of it 00:14:44.11\00:14:47.08 will be a swimming pool 00:14:47.12\00:14:48.85 and, of course, an exercise room 00:14:48.88\00:14:50.69 with a lot of various kinds of equipment, 00:14:50.72\00:14:53.36 we have one of those right now but it's rather small. 00:14:53.39\00:14:55.72 Yes. 00:14:55.76\00:14:57.09 And if more than two or three people in there, 00:14:57.13\00:14:58.46 it seems crowded. 00:14:58.49\00:14:59.83 Yes. 00:14:59.86\00:15:01.20 Nonetheless, if you feel you want to make a donation, 00:15:01.23\00:15:02.63 please call us at (800) 525-9192 00:15:02.66\00:15:07.80 and we would welcome, 00:15:07.84\00:15:09.50 it's going to take about $5 million 00:15:09.54\00:15:11.44 for this new building. 00:15:11.47\00:15:13.21 Yes, it is. 00:15:13.24\00:15:14.58 Anyway, then we need to get away from that? 00:15:14.61\00:15:15.94 No, we need it desperately. 00:15:15.98\00:15:17.41 We're doing good with what we have, 00:15:17.45\00:15:19.58 but could do better. 00:15:19.61\00:15:20.95 Yeah, yeah. 00:15:20.98\00:15:22.32 Now I understand with our new clinic 00:15:22.35\00:15:24.32 of which you are part of, 00:15:24.35\00:15:26.45 business is just exploding after two years. 00:15:26.49\00:15:29.62 Yes, it is. 00:15:29.66\00:15:30.99 We are really busy seeing a lot of patients 00:15:31.03\00:15:33.93 and helping a lot of people. 00:15:33.96\00:15:35.60 You know, I have people who come in to see us 00:15:35.63\00:15:37.57 who say I've never been to a doctor 00:15:37.60\00:15:40.07 who prayed with me before. 00:15:40.10\00:15:41.44 Neither have I. 00:15:41.47\00:15:43.61 And that, you know, 00:15:43.64\00:15:45.21 we're able to help them to make some lifestyle changes 00:15:45.24\00:15:50.01 and get better health 00:15:50.05\00:15:51.71 without having to use as much medications 00:15:51.75\00:15:53.92 and things and, you know, what a blessing. 00:15:53.95\00:15:56.35 It is and truly is, 00:15:56.38\00:15:58.05 I feel blessed to be a part of this. 00:15:58.09\00:16:00.72 Amen. 00:16:00.76\00:16:02.09 And when I had my doctor, 00:16:02.12\00:16:04.06 Dr. Michael Orlich was my doctor 00:16:04.09\00:16:05.73 back then 12 years ago and he prayed with me, 00:16:05.76\00:16:09.20 I was just, "Wow, this is amazing, 00:16:09.23\00:16:11.73 a doctor praying with me." 00:16:11.77\00:16:13.67 Then he goes for a walk with me, 00:16:13.70\00:16:15.40 invites me to his home for dinner. 00:16:15.44\00:16:17.71 Yeah, that's wonderful. 00:19:40.78\00:19:42.11 In my experience, and what I've seen here 00:19:42.14\00:19:44.85 being from 13 years of pastoring, 00:19:44.88\00:19:47.12 you know, Texas and Oklahoma, 00:19:47.15\00:19:48.52 now coming to fresh start, I've heard enough stories 00:19:48.55\00:19:51.95 and I've had enough testimonies in counseling with these people 00:19:51.99\00:19:54.52 that I see that what they don't realize is 00:19:54.56\00:19:57.33 happening to them at church, 00:19:57.36\00:19:58.89 and with Martha, you know, we talked 00:19:58.93\00:20:01.13 and she explained to me that she didn't realize 00:20:01.16\00:20:04.03 how far away from God she was getting 00:20:04.07\00:20:07.50 and she realized that 00:20:07.54\00:20:08.97 her health was playing a huge part in that. 00:20:09.00\00:20:12.51 She told me it began with not wanting to read her Bible 00:20:12.54\00:20:15.61 and then it escalated into not feeling like prayer 00:20:15.64\00:20:18.31 and then feeling worse and discouraged 00:20:18.35\00:20:20.68 and not good about herself 00:20:20.72\00:20:22.05 and then not wanting to go to church, 00:20:22.08\00:20:23.72 just rather sitting at home watch it on TV. 00:20:23.75\00:20:25.85 And as her health is digressing, 00:20:25.89\00:20:29.26 so was her spirituality. 00:20:29.29\00:20:30.99 So there's a connection between health and God. 00:20:31.03\00:20:35.93 Does that have anything to do with letting us know, 00:20:35.96\00:20:39.53 the good book tells us, what, 00:20:39.57\00:20:41.97 that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit, 00:20:42.00\00:20:44.17 do not defile it. 00:20:44.21\00:20:45.74 And we know there is a plethora of information, 00:20:45.77\00:20:48.34 Spirit of Prophecy, Dr. Nedley, with these doctors out here, 00:20:48.38\00:20:51.41 Lukens and all these men are telling us 00:20:51.45\00:20:53.68 that when the mind is not getting blood flow 00:20:53.72\00:20:56.45 and the frontal lobe is not accurately working, 00:20:56.48\00:20:59.15 and there's fat in the blood and the sugar is high, 00:20:59.19\00:21:01.69 and you feel bad, you don't feel very spiritual, 00:21:01.72\00:21:04.56 and that can have a big impact on your relationship with God. 00:21:04.59\00:21:09.26 So with the pastors that are watching this program now, 00:21:09.30\00:21:14.20 if they're having any difficulties 00:21:14.24\00:21:15.64 with their members, 00:21:15.67\00:21:17.11 perhaps the best thing to do is to send them here. 00:21:17.14\00:21:19.51 Oh, sure, send them to a health program 00:21:19.54\00:21:22.21 'cause I mean, I've seen it enough, 00:21:22.24\00:21:24.08 I've been on both sides, that I've seen it. 00:21:24.11\00:21:26.35 And I'm so excited about 00:21:26.38\00:21:27.92 when a person's health comes alive 00:21:27.95\00:21:29.98 and the blood's flowing in the mind 00:21:30.02\00:21:31.55 and they're feeling good, 00:21:31.59\00:21:32.95 you see the spiritual life come alive. 00:21:32.99\00:21:36.22 There's revival. 00:21:36.26\00:21:37.59 There's a much more better chance 00:21:37.63\00:21:39.33 that they're going to be good tithe payers, 00:21:39.36\00:21:40.96 that they're going to come alive in the church, 00:21:41.00\00:21:42.76 that they're going to be active, 00:21:42.80\00:21:44.13 they're going to feel good, 00:21:44.17\00:21:45.50 and they're going to be contagious 00:21:45.53\00:21:46.87 to the rest of your church. 00:21:46.90\00:21:48.24 Amen. 00:21:48.27\00:21:49.60 And this is what you see in Martha? 00:21:49.64\00:21:50.97 That's exactly what I've seen in her. 00:21:51.01\00:21:52.34 So she's made a big change? 00:21:52.37\00:21:53.71 That's right, and she knows it and she feels it. 00:21:53.74\00:21:55.78 The difference is that spiritual life is coming alive, 00:21:55.81\00:21:58.68 the health is working, 00:21:58.71\00:22:00.15 and that is the testimony here at NEWSTART 00:22:00.18\00:22:03.79 for 90% of the people that's come here, 00:22:03.82\00:22:06.55 Adventist, non-Adventist, 00:22:06.59\00:22:08.12 even non-Christians have had similar experiences. 00:22:08.16\00:22:12.46 They've actually noticed a change. 00:22:12.49\00:22:15.23 Sure, they felt it. They know it. 00:22:15.26\00:22:17.03 They may attribute it to a different power 00:22:17.07\00:22:19.37 but it's opening them up to the realities of God 00:22:19.40\00:22:21.90 because that's what we're doing. 00:22:21.94\00:22:23.27 We're saying, "Hey, this is from God's Word. 00:22:23.30\00:22:25.17 We didn't make this stuff up. Look at it." 00:22:25.21\00:22:27.64 And they can measure and feel it in their lives 00:22:27.68\00:22:29.88 and it opens them up to our understanding of God 00:22:29.91\00:22:33.15 and creation and the health message, 00:22:33.18\00:22:34.58 and all of that. 00:22:34.62\00:22:35.95 Amen. Amen. 00:22:35.98\00:22:37.55 I'm so happy to hear you and talk like this 00:22:37.59\00:22:40.46 because this part of our program 00:22:40.49\00:22:42.72 that we haven't done in the past, 00:22:42.76\00:22:44.59 this is brand new, 00:22:44.63\00:22:45.96 this is like our third interview with you 00:22:45.99\00:22:48.00 and I think it's a permanent part at this point. 00:22:48.03\00:22:51.83 And I want to thank you, Damon, for taking your time, 00:22:51.87\00:22:54.40 and God bless you. 00:22:54.44\00:22:55.77 Thank you for having me. God bless. 00:22:55.80\00:22:57.14 And thank you, friends, don't go away. 00:22:57.17\00:22:58.87 Dr. Nedley, Dr Ramirez are up next. 00:22:58.91\00:23:05.15 Welcome to NEWSTART Now. 00:23:05.18\00:23:06.78 I'm Dr. Neil Nedley, President of Weimar Institute. 00:23:06.82\00:23:09.65 And with me today is Dr Eddie Ramirez physician, 00:23:09.68\00:23:12.99 researcher, and the author of a number 00:23:13.02\00:23:15.96 of peer-reviewed scientific studies. 00:23:15.99\00:23:19.16 He also teaches in our college and many of our young people 00:23:19.19\00:23:22.50 are learning how to do research in nutrition and other... 00:23:22.53\00:23:26.43 And actually, getting published in peer-reviewed trials, 00:23:26.47\00:23:29.34 and so we're very grateful to have you here, 00:23:29.37\00:23:32.04 Weimar Institute, Dr. Ramirez, 00:23:32.07\00:23:34.21 and one of the big questions as physicians 00:23:34.24\00:23:37.61 that we have is how can we get people to be compliant? 00:23:37.65\00:23:42.78 You know, even when we prescribe them a medicine, 00:23:42.82\00:23:46.76 there's a large percentage of the public 00:23:46.79\00:23:48.69 that just won't even fill it or take it and much less, 00:23:48.72\00:23:52.73 how do you get somebody to exercise? 00:23:52.76\00:23:55.86 You know, exercise is actually we know good for us, 00:23:55.90\00:23:58.93 physical exercise is good, 00:23:58.97\00:24:00.74 and sometimes we write out 00:24:00.77\00:24:02.50 a physical exercise prescription, 00:24:02.54\00:24:05.34 but that isn't enough 00:24:05.37\00:24:07.04 to get people off of the couch and moving. 00:24:07.08\00:24:09.91 And so this study actually has to do 00:24:09.94\00:24:12.35 with the effects of exercise 00:24:12.38\00:24:15.05 on mental health particularly depression, 00:24:15.08\00:24:18.92 and how many people was it looking at, Dr. Ramirez, 00:24:18.95\00:24:23.19 and also where did this get published? 00:24:23.22\00:24:26.19 This is 5,221 people 00:24:26.23\00:24:30.83 from literally all over the place. 00:24:30.87\00:24:33.84 All over the world. All over the world. 00:24:33.87\00:24:35.74 And this study is going to be coming up later on 00:24:35.77\00:24:39.84 in the British Journal of Sports Medicine. 00:24:39.87\00:24:43.35 Okay. 00:24:43.38\00:24:44.71 So published in the 00:24:44.75\00:24:46.08 British Journal of Sports Medicine, 00:24:46.11\00:24:47.45 of course, they're interested as well as to 00:24:47.48\00:24:48.88 how we can get people to exercise. 00:24:48.92\00:24:51.62 And so what did we find out of these over 5,000 people 00:24:51.65\00:24:55.82 that came to the Depression and Anxiety Recovery Program? 00:24:55.86\00:25:00.13 The community version. 00:25:00.16\00:25:01.50 Yes, the community version 00:25:01.53\00:25:02.86 of the Nedley Depression and Anxiety Recovery Program, 00:25:02.90\00:25:05.70 a program that you can actually do at home 00:25:05.73\00:25:07.87 or you can sign up to do it and a community, 00:25:07.90\00:25:10.64 if one is being run in your area, 00:25:10.67\00:25:13.24 you might look it up. 00:25:13.27\00:25:14.61 But what did we find out? 00:25:14.64\00:25:16.21 Well, we actually could predict how depressed the person was 00:25:16.24\00:25:20.72 according to what exercise pattern they had. 00:25:20.75\00:25:23.89 Okay. 00:25:23.92\00:25:25.25 Those people that did not have a regular exercise program 00:25:25.29\00:25:29.42 had the worst mental health indexes 00:25:29.46\00:25:32.23 according to the study, 00:25:32.26\00:25:33.76 and those people that were that severely depressed, 00:25:33.80\00:25:37.57 as they pass through the eight-week program, 00:25:37.60\00:25:40.60 started implementing 00:25:40.64\00:25:41.97 all the aspects of their lifestyle, 00:25:42.00\00:25:44.27 by the end of the program, 00:25:44.31\00:25:46.37 if you were able to get in that exercise pattern, 00:25:46.41\00:25:50.51 by the end, you could be among those 00:25:50.55\00:25:52.68 that had the best results and no depression anymore. 00:25:52.71\00:25:56.52 You know, Dr. John Ratey, Psychiatrist from Harvard 00:25:56.55\00:26:01.26 has done some studies on exercise as well, 00:26:01.29\00:26:04.26 and he has stated that exercise is actually more for our brain 00:26:04.29\00:26:08.53 than it is our body, 00:26:08.56\00:26:10.17 and this study actually goes along with that. 00:26:10.20\00:26:12.47 So the most severely depressed people, 00:26:12.50\00:26:15.04 exercise the least, 00:26:15.07\00:26:16.81 and if they want to improve the most, 00:26:16.84\00:26:19.27 it's not just exercise or the other things 00:26:19.31\00:26:21.31 that they learn in the program, 00:26:21.34\00:26:22.68 but if they exercise the most and they get more fit, 00:26:22.71\00:26:25.68 they're going to have some very good response 00:26:25.71\00:26:28.38 in the eight-week program. 00:26:28.42\00:26:29.75 And not only the depression, anxiety also improved 00:26:29.78\00:26:32.65 the most among those that were able to implement the exercise 00:26:32.69\00:26:36.49 and also nice side effect, emotional intelligence, 00:26:36.52\00:26:39.63 your ability to motivate yourself 00:26:39.66\00:26:42.03 and get along with others 00:26:42.06\00:26:43.87 also improved the most with those people 00:26:43.90\00:26:46.67 that improved the most in their exercise patterns. 00:26:46.70\00:26:49.77 Anxiety is known to be more difficult to treat 00:26:49.80\00:26:52.67 than depression, and so that's pretty dramatic, 00:26:52.71\00:26:55.14 so the anxiety improved, 00:26:55.18\00:26:57.01 emotional intelligence score has improved, 00:26:57.05\00:26:59.61 and that means your future success and happiness. 00:26:59.65\00:27:02.48 And so this program actually was shown to 00:27:02.52\00:27:05.85 help people be compliant with things 00:27:05.89\00:27:08.72 that they tend not to be compliant with 00:27:08.76\00:27:11.06 like exercise and diet, 00:27:11.09\00:27:13.33 and that's why it was accepted for publication 00:27:13.36\00:27:15.80 in the British Journal of Sports Medicine. 00:27:15.83\00:27:18.70 So if you know someone 00:27:18.73\00:27:20.07 who needs to change their lifestyle 00:27:20.10\00:27:21.70 and improve their mental health, 00:27:21.74\00:27:24.21 a great way of changing them is getting them 00:27:24.24\00:27:27.78 the Depression and Anxiety Recovery Program, 00:27:27.81\00:27:31.11 maybe the home-based version, 00:27:31.15\00:27:33.21 maybe sending them to a community-based version, 00:27:33.25\00:27:35.68 or if they're not going to do that, 00:27:35.72\00:27:37.15 come to Weimar itself and get the residential version 00:27:37.19\00:27:40.19 and change your brain for the better. 00:27:40.22\00:27:43.53 I'm Dr. Neil Nedley. 00:27:43.56\00:27:45.26 This is NEWSTART Now. 00:27:45.29\00:27:46.93 Join us again next week for another exciting study. 00:27:46.96\00:27:49.60
