Hi, friends, and welcome
00:01:12.40\00:01:13.74
to another
edition of NEWSTART Now.
00:01:13.77\00:01:16.07
I'm your host, Ron Giannoni.
00:01:16.10\00:01:18.44
In our studio is
Anthony Celiason from Alaska.
00:01:18.47\00:01:22.58
Now he's a pretty big guy,
00:01:22.61\00:01:24.81
and I want to take you
back when he first got here
00:01:24.85\00:01:28.25
because he's
lost a lot of weight.
00:01:28.28\00:01:32.35
Doctors up there said,
00:01:32.39\00:01:33.72
I had about 9%
of my kidneys left.
00:01:33.76\00:01:35.56
I have kidney failure,
stage-5, hypertension, diabetes,
00:01:35.59\00:01:39.86
all kinds of bad stuff.
00:01:39.89\00:01:41.53
Lots and lots of
medicine I'm taking,
00:01:41.56\00:01:44.17
and stay up
about four hours a day
00:01:44.20\00:01:46.13
before I have to go to bed
00:01:46.17\00:01:47.50
because the
medicines make me so tired.
00:01:47.54\00:01:49.94
So I figured it
changed the life.
00:01:49.97\00:01:53.31
And I'd like to get
off all my medicines.
00:01:53.34\00:01:54.94
I like to be...
00:01:54.98\00:01:57.81
I'd rather not go on dialysis.
00:01:57.85\00:02:00.98
You know,
they're talking dialysis,
00:02:01.02\00:02:02.92
they are talking, you know,
00:02:02.95\00:02:05.99
cut my kidneys out
and give me somebody else.
00:02:06.02\00:02:07.92
I don't want to
somebody else kidney in me.
00:02:07.96\00:02:09.96
You know, what's mine is mine.
00:02:09.99\00:02:12.26
You know, same time every
time I go to a doctor up there,
00:02:12.29\00:02:17.37
they want to
throw more pills on me.
00:02:17.40\00:02:18.93
I mean, it's not something
that they're healing me,
00:02:18.97\00:02:22.77
they're making me worse.
00:02:22.80\00:02:25.64
So I figured a diet down here
maybe or something like that,
00:02:25.67\00:02:28.81
or, and that save my life
and give me another 20 year,
00:02:28.84\00:02:32.41
I'm hoping, you know,
00:02:32.45\00:02:33.78
by learning all
this stuff down here.
00:02:33.82\00:02:35.38
And welcome back, friends.
00:02:38.42\00:02:39.85
Anthony, how are you brother?
00:02:39.89\00:02:41.22
Pretty good. How are you?
00:02:41.26\00:02:42.59
Good to see you.
00:02:42.62\00:02:43.96
Good grip by the way.
00:02:43.99\00:02:45.33
You got the...
00:02:45.36\00:02:46.70
You got the fisherman's grip?
00:02:46.73\00:02:48.06
I did a little fishing. Okay.
00:02:48.10\00:02:49.43
I want to...
00:02:49.46\00:02:50.80
I got a start
off from number one.
00:02:50.83\00:02:52.47
How much weight have you lost?
00:02:52.50\00:02:55.57
About 37 pounds.
00:02:55.60\00:02:57.07
Thirty seven pounds.
00:02:57.11\00:03:00.11
Okay, when you
got here, you were...
00:03:00.14\00:03:02.74
Is it okay that I
say that you were a mess?
00:03:02.78\00:03:06.01
Yeah, you can say that.
00:03:06.05\00:03:07.38
I can say that.
00:03:07.42\00:03:08.75
It's too late, you're sinner.
00:03:08.78\00:03:10.35
Anyway, you were
dealing with a lot of issues.
00:03:10.39\00:03:14.16
Stage-5 kidney
failure, diabetes, obesity...
00:03:14.19\00:03:20.83
Hypertension. Hypertension.
00:03:20.86\00:03:23.63
What else? What else?
00:03:23.67\00:03:25.00
I had neuropathy of the feet.
00:03:25.03\00:03:27.84
You couldn't feel your feet.
00:03:27.87\00:03:29.84
I'd have a lot of pain.
00:03:29.87\00:03:31.21
I couldn't feel them, but
I had a lot of pain in there.
00:03:31.24\00:03:33.07
Oh, okay. And
sharp pains, right?
00:03:33.11\00:03:35.74
Yes.
00:03:35.78\00:03:37.11
And I had problems
with my legs, swelling.
00:03:37.15\00:03:42.35
A lot of problems. I spend
a lot of time in the hospital.
00:03:42.38\00:03:45.22
And you're on a
lot of medications.
00:03:45.25\00:03:49.82
About 25 different medications.
00:03:49.86\00:03:51.46
Were you taking
those twice a day?
00:03:51.49\00:03:53.86
Most of them at least twice,
00:03:53.90\00:03:55.23
sometimes a couple of
them three times a day.
00:03:55.26\00:03:56.77
So you might have been
taking 60, 70 meds a day.
00:03:56.80\00:04:00.14
At least that.
00:04:00.17\00:04:01.50
Yeah, okay.
00:04:01.54\00:04:03.24
How many you on now?
00:04:03.27\00:04:05.01
Three. Three.
00:04:05.04\00:04:06.61
Three pills.
00:04:06.64\00:04:08.21
And two of those
are for what, blood...?
00:04:08.24\00:04:10.45
Blood thinners. Blood thinners.
00:04:10.48\00:04:11.91
Yep. And what's
the other one for?
00:04:11.95\00:04:16.72
Don't really matter, doesn't it?
00:04:16.75\00:04:18.09
I don't, I don't want... I...
00:04:18.12\00:04:19.45
One of them for the circulation
of my blood in my legs.
00:04:19.49\00:04:21.16
Okay.
00:04:21.19\00:04:22.52
And then one's
the blood thinner,
00:04:22.56\00:04:23.89
and then I think
the other one's aspirin.
00:04:23.93\00:04:25.33
Okay.
00:04:25.36\00:04:26.70
Because I've had a heart attack.
00:04:26.73\00:04:28.06
I think I got to take
the 81 milligram aspirin.
00:04:28.10\00:04:29.76
I think it's pretty much,
all that I'm on right now.
00:04:29.80\00:04:33.27
Excellent.
00:04:33.30\00:04:34.64
I'm off all my, all my insolent.
00:04:34.67\00:04:36.67
Most of my stuff
for my kidneys and stuff
00:04:36.71\00:04:38.67
is pretty much done with.
00:04:38.71\00:04:42.38
Your kidneys are okay now?
00:04:42.41\00:04:44.98
They're not okay.
00:04:45.01\00:04:46.35
I still have to be on the diet,
exercise, they are coming up,
00:04:46.38\00:04:50.95
and a lot of my
counts and everything
00:04:50.99\00:04:52.55
are doing really good.
00:04:52.59\00:04:55.86
So when I got down here I was,
00:04:55.89\00:05:00.53
I guess, they call it
anemic low blood, red blood.
00:05:00.56\00:05:03.23
Yes, yeah.
00:05:03.26\00:05:04.60
My counts come up.
00:05:04.63\00:05:05.97
I haven't even have any
shots or anything for it.
00:05:06.00\00:05:07.37
They're coming up on their own.
00:05:07.40\00:05:09.17
Isn't that awesome?
00:05:09.20\00:05:10.81
My fatigue is gone.
00:05:10.84\00:05:12.17
I'm walking two to three
miles a day now with no problem,
00:05:12.21\00:05:15.94
without stopping.
00:05:15.98\00:05:17.31
I'm feeling good, really,
really good, really happy.
00:05:17.35\00:05:21.85
What does your brother
at home think of all this?
00:05:21.88\00:05:27.72
He'll be surprised
00:05:27.76\00:05:29.09
because I'm dragging him
down here probably March.
00:05:29.12\00:05:31.53
I'm gonna drag
him down here and...
00:05:31.56\00:05:33.13
Well, he tells me
he's coming in March.
00:05:33.16\00:05:34.76
Well, I'm...
00:05:34.80\00:05:36.13
We got to hold him through it.
00:05:36.16\00:05:37.87
When he sees you
and here's your test...
00:05:37.90\00:05:40.90
You've been talking
to him, haven't you?
00:05:40.94\00:05:42.37
Yeah, I have. Well, a few times.
00:05:42.40\00:05:43.87
Yeah. Yeah.
00:05:43.91\00:05:45.24
Have you told him all
the things that's happened?
00:05:45.27\00:05:47.28
Yeah, he's pretty
excited about coming down.
00:05:47.31\00:05:49.44
He's...
00:05:49.48\00:05:50.91
He's ready to be healthy again.
00:05:50.95\00:05:52.58
And I told him,
when I get back up,
00:05:52.61\00:05:54.25
I'm gonna be cooking for him.
00:05:54.28\00:05:56.18
I'm gonna be cooking
and show the whole family
00:05:56.22\00:05:57.92
exactly what a new life's
about and how to be healthy.
00:05:57.95\00:06:02.49
Now where did you learn to cook?
00:06:02.52\00:06:05.63
From my mom and dad.
00:06:05.66\00:06:07.26
And have you learned
anything here about cooking?
00:06:07.30\00:06:08.80
A lot.
00:06:08.83\00:06:10.17
A lot? A lot. A lot.
00:06:10.20\00:06:11.53
From Michelle?
00:06:11.57\00:06:12.90
I have. Isn't she's magnificent?
00:06:12.93\00:06:14.94
Very good cook.
00:06:14.97\00:06:16.30
Very, very good cook. Very good.
00:06:16.34\00:06:20.71
I think I learned a
little bit from the doctors too.
00:06:20.74\00:06:23.14
I forgot his name.
00:06:23.18\00:06:24.51
We went over to his
house and met his wife.
00:06:24.55\00:06:25.88
Doctor Kuninobu?
00:06:25.91\00:06:27.25
Oh, man, I think,
good cooked, very good.
00:06:27.28\00:06:30.52
Him and his wife can
whip up some good food.
00:06:30.55\00:06:33.19
So you went to the
doctor's house for a meal?
00:06:33.22\00:06:36.29
Breakfast.
00:06:36.32\00:06:37.66
Wow! Ain't that nice?
00:06:37.69\00:06:39.03
Invite us over, and
food's coming in their house
00:06:39.06\00:06:42.13
and had a very, very good meal.
00:06:42.16\00:06:44.30
It was very nice,
excellent hospitality.
00:06:44.33\00:06:47.77
Nice, very nice people.
00:06:47.80\00:06:49.20
He's a wonderful
guy. Yep, so was his wife.
00:06:49.24\00:06:52.31
And your doctor,
your's Dr. Gallant, right?
00:06:52.34\00:06:54.91
Yes. Yeah.
00:06:54.94\00:06:56.54
Very nice gentleman.
00:06:56.58\00:06:57.91
And when's the last
time you went to your doctor
00:06:57.95\00:07:00.28
and they prayed
with you for instance?
00:07:00.32\00:07:04.02
Never.
00:07:04.05\00:07:05.39
Never happened to you before?
00:07:05.42\00:07:08.16
I've never been to a
doctor that ever mentioned God.
00:07:08.19\00:07:11.13
Really?
00:07:11.16\00:07:12.49
And I love God very
much, very much in my heart.
00:07:12.53\00:07:15.53
And I've never been
to a doctor, or a nurse,
00:07:15.56\00:07:20.67
or anybody that's
ever talked about God.
00:07:20.70\00:07:22.64
It's pretty much taboo
until I came down here,
00:07:22.67\00:07:25.74
and I was like, "Very nice."
00:07:25.77\00:07:27.28
Very nice.
00:07:27.31\00:07:28.64
I appreciate all the prayers,
00:07:28.68\00:07:30.55
you know, a
person can use everything
00:07:30.58\00:07:32.75
they can in the
moreover, you know, to help them
00:07:32.78\00:07:34.95
and prayer is one
of the best things
00:07:34.98\00:07:36.45
that you can use in life.
00:07:36.48\00:07:38.52
Yeah. I mean,
it helps everybody.
00:07:38.55\00:07:40.26
You just had a mouthful.
00:07:40.29\00:07:41.72
And I think, you
know, because I said
00:07:41.76\00:07:44.79
during my presentation
00:07:44.83\00:07:47.53
that we all are
praying for the guest here
00:07:47.56\00:07:51.23
before you arrived,
and after you've left,
00:07:51.27\00:07:53.60
and so many people will pray for
00:07:53.64\00:07:55.74
and the power of
prayer is just awesome.
00:07:55.77\00:07:58.47
But I'm glad to hear
that you brought that up
00:07:58.51\00:08:00.58
because that's
part of the program
00:08:00.61\00:08:03.11
that's not talked about enough.
00:08:03.14\00:08:07.02
At least in our
interviews, it doesn't seem.
00:08:07.05\00:08:09.38
It all seems to be
about eating, and walking,
00:08:09.42\00:08:12.62
and this and that,
00:08:12.65\00:08:13.99
but it's very much an
intricate part of our program.
00:08:14.02\00:08:18.49
Well, they all hold
hands with each other.
00:08:18.53\00:08:20.83
You know, with your
prayer comes health,
00:08:20.86\00:08:23.63
and with health comes food,
00:08:23.67\00:08:25.00
you got to have
them all at one time.
00:08:25.03\00:08:26.50
Amen.
00:08:26.53\00:08:27.87
You know, and
people, most people nowadays
00:08:27.90\00:08:30.21
even though they go to church,
they overlook to prayers,
00:08:30.24\00:08:33.24
they overlook the goodness
and helping one another.
00:08:33.27\00:08:36.34
And I think, it's a sad
thing that people neglect that.
00:08:36.38\00:08:40.98
I really do.
00:08:41.02\00:08:42.35
And if they didn't, I think,
00:08:42.38\00:08:43.72
the world would
be a better place.
00:08:43.75\00:08:45.45
Amen. Yeah.
00:08:45.49\00:08:46.82
Jesus tells us that to
love one another, doesn't He?
00:08:46.86\00:08:49.66
Yes, He does. Yeah.
00:08:49.69\00:08:51.33
Love God first. Yes.
00:08:51.36\00:08:52.69
But then love
everybody as you love yourself.
00:08:52.73\00:08:54.90
Fruits of the spirit, Love.
00:08:54.93\00:08:57.93
That, you know,
without that, I mean,
00:08:57.97\00:08:59.77
all the others don't
seem to even happen, you know.
00:08:59.80\00:09:04.01
But it's obvious that
you have love in your heart,
00:09:04.04\00:09:06.34
and I know that
you love your brother
00:09:06.37\00:09:07.78
and you're gonna get him here.
00:09:07.81\00:09:09.54
He's your older brother?
00:09:09.58\00:09:10.91
Older. Yeah.
00:09:10.95\00:09:12.28
And larger?
00:09:12.31\00:09:13.98
You never really told me that.
00:09:14.02\00:09:15.35
He's a bit bigger than I am.
00:09:15.38\00:09:18.55
A little bit. A little bit.
00:09:18.59\00:09:20.39
He's a big boy, he is.
00:09:20.42\00:09:22.06
You know, I'm a big, you
know, myself I'm big too.
00:09:22.09\00:09:26.06
He's a good sized person.
00:09:26.09\00:09:28.76
Yeah.
00:09:28.80\00:09:30.13
Very loving, very
loving person he is.
00:09:30.17\00:09:31.80
He's a good person.
00:09:31.83\00:09:33.23
Oh, that was obvious
00:09:33.27\00:09:34.60
when I talked to
him on the phone.
00:09:34.64\00:09:36.40
He's one that got me down here.
00:09:36.44\00:09:39.57
I was sick, I gave him,
told him who to call, you know.
00:09:39.61\00:09:45.45
We didn't know if
you're gonna make it here.
00:09:45.48\00:09:48.12
Oh, I made it here.
00:09:48.15\00:09:49.48
I know, but we weren't sure.
00:09:49.52\00:09:51.29
Oh, yeah. I mean, I wasn't.
00:09:51.32\00:09:53.72
Maybe your brother
had second thoughts too,
00:09:53.76\00:09:55.89
but you were pretty sick.
00:09:55.92\00:09:58.79
Yeah, well...
00:09:58.83\00:10:00.16
And the problem
with being that sick
00:10:00.20\00:10:02.50
is you could have
a number of things
00:10:02.53\00:10:04.13
that could happen, and did bang,
00:10:04.17\00:10:06.53
and all be all over.
00:10:06.57\00:10:08.27
Yeah, God wanted
me here so I'm here.
00:10:08.30\00:10:10.14
Amen. Amen.
00:10:10.17\00:10:12.37
All right, so you're
ready to go back home,
00:10:12.41\00:10:14.54
teach what you've learned
00:10:14.58\00:10:15.91
and help the family and friends.
00:10:15.94\00:10:19.08
Honestly, if I could stay
here, I'd probably stay here.
00:10:19.11\00:10:23.02
I like it here.
It's a nice place, it is.
00:10:23.05\00:10:27.12
Everybody is nice,
courteous, kind, loving,
00:10:27.16\00:10:31.06
everybody prays over here.
00:10:31.09\00:10:32.83
It's a place a person
could live in peace and harmony
00:10:32.86\00:10:36.16
without blinking an eye.
00:10:36.20\00:10:38.67
If everybody was like
this, there would be no worse.
00:10:38.70\00:10:40.94
There would be...
00:10:40.97\00:10:42.84
I honestly think this right here
00:10:42.87\00:10:44.64
probably one of the
best places on Earth to live.
00:10:44.67\00:10:48.38
It is one of the best place
to live, I can testify that.
00:10:48.41\00:10:52.45
Well, you can come in
March with your brother.
00:10:52.48\00:10:54.78
I am.
00:10:54.82\00:10:56.15
If Troy comes, I'm gonna
make him stay up to his saying.
00:10:56.18\00:11:01.12
I'm gonna bring him down here.
I'm gonna come down with him.
00:11:01.16\00:11:03.39
I'm gonna probably go
through the program with him
00:11:03.43\00:11:07.30
as a friend just to make
sure that everything goes right,
00:11:07.33\00:11:10.23
and helping through everything.
00:11:10.27\00:11:12.33
And I'm gonna stay on
this once I go up to Alaska.
00:11:12.37\00:11:16.14
All right.
We've run out of time.
00:11:16.17\00:11:18.71
I want to thank
you, Anthony. Yep.
00:11:18.74\00:11:20.34
And God bless you.
00:11:20.38\00:11:21.71
And I'll be
following up with you.
00:11:21.74\00:11:23.08
God bless you
too. All right, man.
00:11:23.11\00:11:25.01
Friends, don't go
away, Dr. Gallant is up next.
00:11:25.05\00:11:28.65
Every year in America there
are over one million deaths
00:11:32.65\00:11:35.12
because of Type 2
diabetes and chronic obesity.
00:11:35.16\00:11:38.19
This includes heart
attacks and strokes.
00:11:38.23\00:11:40.50
That's six and half
747s crashing every day.
00:11:40.53\00:11:44.17
What's even more surprising
is that the fix is easy.
00:11:44.20\00:11:47.60
It's your lifestyle.
00:11:47.64\00:11:48.97
Wouldn't it be nice
00:11:49.00\00:11:50.34
if you could actually add
quality years to your life
00:11:50.37\00:11:52.34
rather than dying
one organ at a time?
00:11:52.37\00:11:55.28
Obesity and diabetes
00:11:55.31\00:11:56.64
are the cause of over
million deaths per year.
00:11:56.68\00:11:59.51
Most diseases are reversible
00:11:59.55\00:12:01.62
because most diseases
are lifestyle diseases,
00:12:01.65\00:12:04.45
especially Type 2
diabetes and chronic obesity.
00:12:04.49\00:12:07.99
Seriously now,
they can be reversed
00:12:08.02\00:12:10.16
and the quality of
your life can be renewed.
00:12:10.19\00:12:13.86
Call NEWSTART
today at 1-800-525-9192.
00:12:13.90\00:12:20.00
You will see dramatic changes
00:12:20.04\00:12:21.50
in the first few
days of our program
00:12:21.54\00:12:23.51
and you'll be on the road
00:12:23.54\00:12:24.87
to a better more
robust quality of life.
00:12:24.91\00:12:27.81
The NEWSTART programs
are simple and effective.
00:12:27.84\00:12:30.68
Welcome back, friends,
00:12:34.18\00:12:35.52
and help me
welcome Dr. Roger Gallant.
00:12:35.55\00:12:37.35
Nice to be here, Ron.
00:12:37.39\00:12:38.72
That's good to see you again.
00:12:38.75\00:12:40.22
Yes.
00:12:40.26\00:12:41.89
You know, Anthony is
a pretty amazing guy.
00:12:41.92\00:12:46.70
I really...
00:12:46.73\00:12:48.06
I kind of like his
macho image too to a degree.
00:12:48.10\00:12:53.57
But he came to us recently and,
00:12:53.60\00:12:56.74
you know, that he
was not doing too well.
00:12:56.77\00:12:59.01
That's right. That's right.
00:12:59.04\00:13:00.38
And in fact, he came to us
directly from the hospital.
00:13:00.41\00:13:02.74
That's right. I forgot. Was he?
00:13:02.78\00:13:05.38
Did he have
pneumonia or something?
00:13:05.41\00:13:07.45
He had been hospitalized.
00:13:07.48\00:13:08.82
He was having
problems with his kidneys.
00:13:08.85\00:13:11.15
And he'd been hospitalized,
00:13:11.19\00:13:12.72
and they gave him a couple
of options and he decided...
00:13:12.75\00:13:15.82
And one of his family
members told him about Weimar
00:13:15.86\00:13:17.89
and he decided to come here.
00:13:17.93\00:13:20.06
To our NEWSTART program.
To our NEWSTART program, yeah.
00:13:20.10\00:13:22.70
Now talking about kidneys,
when we do two blood draws,
00:13:22.73\00:13:27.57
we do one when the guest arrive,
00:13:27.60\00:13:29.77
the first morning they're here.
00:13:29.80\00:13:31.14
That's right.
00:13:31.17\00:13:32.51
And then one, two days
before they leave, right?
00:13:32.54\00:13:33.88
Right.
00:13:33.91\00:13:35.24
So they're
separated by about two weeks.
00:13:35.28\00:13:36.64
About two weeks.
00:13:36.68\00:13:38.01
And in two weeks, did you
notice a significant change
00:13:38.05\00:13:41.78
in the kidney function?
00:13:41.82\00:13:43.49
He had improvement
in his kidney function.
00:13:43.52\00:13:46.25
He didn't get as
significant changes we want,
00:13:46.29\00:13:49.26
but we were
pleased to see that things
00:13:49.29\00:13:51.33
were changing and improving
00:13:51.36\00:13:52.86
because he had been told that
he needed to go on dialysis,
00:13:52.89\00:13:56.63
and he had been told that things
00:13:56.67\00:13:59.00
were just headed downhill.
00:13:59.03\00:14:00.87
So just...
00:14:00.90\00:14:02.60
May I interrupt? Absolutely.
00:14:02.64\00:14:03.97
I'm not a doctor, right?
00:14:04.01\00:14:05.47
So if I were to see
just a little improvement,
00:14:05.51\00:14:09.88
is that really saying
that there is hope now
00:14:09.91\00:14:13.98
that the kidneys
00:14:14.02\00:14:15.35
can get better,
and better, and better
00:14:15.38\00:14:17.89
if you eat and
take care of yourself?
00:14:17.92\00:14:19.45
Well, I believe by God's grace
that his kidneys can get better
00:14:19.49\00:14:22.69
and that he can
have improvement,
00:14:22.72\00:14:24.06
and not have to go on dialysis.
00:14:24.09\00:14:26.33
He came here and he
lost about 33 pounds,
00:14:26.36\00:14:31.23
much of that was fluid
that had been in his legs.
00:14:31.27\00:14:36.71
From the lack of kidney failure.
00:14:36.74\00:14:38.07
That he's been retaining
00:14:38.11\00:14:39.44
because of lack
of kidney function.
00:14:39.47\00:14:40.81
Wow!
00:14:40.84\00:14:42.18
And to see that he was
having that improvement,
00:14:42.21\00:14:45.75
that to me is the first evidence
00:14:45.78\00:14:49.08
that not only his kidneys
00:14:49.12\00:14:50.45
but his heart is also improving,
00:14:50.49\00:14:52.39
and that his body
will continue to improve
00:14:52.42\00:14:55.69
as long as he
continues on this program.
00:14:55.72\00:14:59.53
So what are the numbers
did you see improve with him?
00:14:59.56\00:15:03.63
He actually had improvement
in his total cholesterol.
00:15:03.67\00:15:06.80
In two weeks, he
dropped his total cholesterol
00:15:06.84\00:15:10.57
less than,
00:15:10.61\00:15:11.94
or dropped at
more than 20 points.
00:15:11.97\00:15:13.91
Now again, his
cholesterol wasn't super high.
00:15:13.94\00:15:16.75
He's a big guy,
00:15:16.78\00:15:18.11
but his
cholesterol wasn't very high.
00:15:18.15\00:15:20.12
But he was still able to
see some improvement in just,
00:15:20.15\00:15:22.82
in just 14 days.
00:15:22.85\00:15:25.39
So that's encouragement
for our viewers, I know.
00:15:25.42\00:15:28.42
Absolutely.
00:15:28.46\00:15:29.79
When I came through the program,
00:15:29.82\00:15:31.89
what I remember mostly
00:15:31.93\00:15:33.40
is my triglycerides
dropped 200 points.
00:15:33.43\00:15:35.96
Wow! That's fantastic.
00:15:36.00\00:15:37.33
In 14 days.
00:15:37.37\00:15:38.70
I mean, you know, that's,
that seems like a big number.
00:15:38.73\00:15:40.94
Oh, yeah.
00:15:40.97\00:15:42.30
They went from like 375 to 175.
00:15:42.34\00:15:45.47
That's fantastic. Yeah, yeah.
00:15:45.51\00:15:47.91
So what else has
really changed with Anthony
00:15:47.94\00:15:53.58
that you can share?
00:15:53.62\00:15:54.95
Anthony realized that he needed
to live his life differently.
00:15:54.98\00:15:59.52
He had lived his
life to this point,
00:15:59.55\00:16:01.96
and he says that, you know,
00:16:01.99\00:16:04.56
he realized that some of
the things he had been doing
00:16:04.59\00:16:08.06
were not the best
00:16:08.10\00:16:09.86
and the time had come to change.
00:16:09.90\00:16:12.83
And I believe
by the grace of God
00:16:12.87\00:16:15.54
as he follows through on
that commitment to change,
00:16:15.57\00:16:19.94
God is gonna
change his body as well.
00:16:19.97\00:16:21.58
Amen. Amen. Yeah.
00:16:21.61\00:16:23.68
You know, as a
young man growing up,
00:16:23.71\00:16:26.28
I heard here and there
00:16:26.31\00:16:28.98
and I didn't pay much attention,
00:16:29.02\00:16:30.42
"You know, you
better make some changes."
00:16:30.45\00:16:32.45
What does that mean?
00:16:32.49\00:16:33.82
You know, it was,
"Okay, I got to make some...
00:16:33.86\00:16:36.32
Does that mean I
should stop drinking
00:16:36.36\00:16:38.09
when those days were
in the past, of course?"
00:16:38.13\00:16:40.76
Right.
00:16:40.80\00:16:42.13
I wasn't sure what that meant.
00:16:42.16\00:16:43.63
And I know a lot of our viewers
don't know what that means.
00:16:43.67\00:16:46.94
Right.
00:16:46.97\00:16:48.30
But, you know, we use
that term lifestyle change,
00:16:48.34\00:16:53.17
can you elaborate
a little bit on that
00:16:53.21\00:16:55.18
and tell us what
Anthony had experienced
00:16:55.21\00:16:59.88
while he was here?
00:16:59.91\00:17:01.68
Well, lifestyle
change, I believe,
00:17:01.72\00:17:03.28
is not just eating or exercise,
00:17:03.32\00:17:07.09
it is your life, it
is all the things you do.
00:17:07.12\00:17:09.96
So Anthony found that
00:17:09.99\00:17:13.19
he was able to sleep
better while he was here.
00:17:13.23\00:17:17.23
He was able to lose
weight while he was here.
00:17:17.27\00:17:22.00
He was able to have
a little more energy,
00:17:22.04\00:17:25.37
able to walk more.
00:17:25.41\00:17:27.31
He had change
00:17:27.34\00:17:30.25
in his energy level
00:17:30.28\00:17:34.72
which was tremendous for
him, he was excited about that.
00:17:34.75\00:17:39.15
So lifestyle is
all-encompassing.
00:17:39.19\00:17:41.49
It's more than
just one or two factors,
00:17:41.52\00:17:44.79
but it's your whole life.
00:17:44.83\00:17:46.16
And the other thing
that Anthony really found
00:17:46.19\00:17:49.33
while he was here was that
00:17:49.36\00:17:50.70
he had a spiritual
reconnection with God.
00:17:50.73\00:17:53.07
And I think that's one
of the most important things
00:17:53.10\00:17:56.50
to help him to not
only be healthy now,
00:17:56.54\00:17:58.57
but healthy
going forward as well.
00:17:58.61\00:18:01.54
Yes. Yes.
00:18:01.58\00:18:03.01
I saw that, he and I
talked about that briefly
00:18:03.04\00:18:06.28
and he's, he's a
little more humble
00:18:06.31\00:18:10.19
than when we first,
when he first arrived.
00:18:10.22\00:18:12.95
Yes.
00:18:12.99\00:18:14.32
He has a brother in
Alaska that he plans on bringing
00:18:14.36\00:18:17.79
to either the next
program or one program soon.
00:18:17.83\00:18:23.80
So do you
follow up on the people
00:18:23.83\00:18:28.67
who are going
through the program?
00:18:28.70\00:18:32.87
As a doctor, do you sometimes
connect with these folks?
00:18:32.91\00:18:36.21
We do. We do.
00:18:36.24\00:18:38.38
We have patients who
will call in to talk to us
00:18:38.41\00:18:41.12
and we talk to them
00:18:41.15\00:18:42.48
and we also make calls out
to patients to check up on them
00:18:42.52\00:18:44.95
and see how they're doing.
00:18:44.99\00:18:46.42
Is there a fee
for that? May I ask?
00:18:46.45\00:18:48.79
There's no fee for that.
00:18:48.82\00:18:50.16
No fee.
00:18:50.19\00:18:51.53
When's the last time a
doctor calls you at home
00:18:51.56\00:18:54.36
and talks to you and
doesn't send you a bill?
00:18:54.40\00:18:57.10
I think that's wonderful. Yeah.
00:18:57.13\00:18:58.87
You know, we do the
same with guest services.
00:18:58.90\00:19:00.84
Right.
00:19:00.87\00:19:02.20
We'd like to stay in contact
00:19:02.24\00:19:03.87
with those who would like
to remain connected with us.
00:19:03.91\00:19:07.94
In fact, we get
several of the people
00:19:07.98\00:19:09.84
that we make calls
to from guest services.
00:19:09.88\00:19:12.61
Yes.
00:19:12.65\00:19:14.02
Yes.
00:19:14.05\00:19:15.38
So we work well together.
00:19:15.42\00:19:16.75
Yeah, absolutely.
00:19:16.79\00:19:19.09
Any last minute words of
wisdom to our viewers that,
00:19:19.12\00:19:24.83
you know, I know
there's a lot of people
00:19:24.86\00:19:26.56
out there like
Anthony that they've been told
00:19:26.59\00:19:30.47
they're gonna
have to go on dialysis,
00:19:30.50\00:19:32.60
their blood
pressure is too high,
00:19:32.63\00:19:34.17
then diabetes,
you're morbidly obese.
00:19:34.20\00:19:38.07
What can you say to these folks?
00:19:38.11\00:19:40.14
Well, you know,
Anthony came from
00:19:40.18\00:19:41.51
and it seems like
half a country away
00:19:41.54\00:19:42.98
coming from Alaska to come here.
00:19:43.01\00:19:44.91
But what I would
say is this that,
00:19:44.95\00:19:49.42
take heart that no
matter how sick you are,
00:19:49.45\00:19:53.52
or no matter where you are
00:19:53.56\00:19:54.89
in terms of your
lifestyle right now.
00:19:54.92\00:19:57.66
If you're willing
to make some changes
00:19:57.69\00:19:59.36
and follow God's
plan for your life,
00:19:59.39\00:20:02.93
not necessarily my
plan for your life,
00:20:02.96\00:20:05.63
then I believe by His grace
that you can reap benefits,
00:20:05.67\00:20:10.01
that you can reap health,
that you can have happiness,
00:20:10.04\00:20:13.68
that you can be content,
and that your life will change.
00:20:13.71\00:20:17.88
And no matter what
the disease ailment is,
00:20:17.91\00:20:22.62
I believe by God's grace,
00:20:22.65\00:20:24.29
if you're willing to do
some things differently,
00:20:24.32\00:20:26.65
that He will honor that
00:20:26.69\00:20:28.26
and He will give you
a change in your life.
00:20:28.29\00:20:31.29
You know, I believe that too.
00:20:31.33\00:20:33.53
But when I say it,
00:20:33.56\00:20:34.90
it's a little different
than coming from a doctor.
00:20:34.93\00:20:37.37
And I, you know, I
truly in my heart know,
00:20:37.40\00:20:41.70
I believe that most,
any disease can be cured.
00:20:41.74\00:20:45.31
God can do all things,
00:20:45.34\00:20:46.94
we know that. Right, right.
00:20:46.98\00:20:48.74
Well, doc, I want to
thank you for taking your time.
00:20:48.78\00:20:52.18
It's my pleasure, Ron.
I know, you're a busy guy
00:20:52.21\00:20:53.78
and you've got a
lecture following this.
00:20:53.82\00:20:55.22
Yes.
00:20:55.25\00:20:56.58
But, friends, don't go away,
00:20:56.62\00:20:57.95
Dr. Ramirez and
Dr. Nedley are up next.
00:20:57.99\00:21:01.26
Welcome to NEWSTART Now.
00:21:04.73\00:21:06.33
I'm Dr. Neil Nedley,
President of Weimar Institute.
00:21:06.36\00:21:09.10
And with me today
is Dr. Eddie Ramirez,
00:21:09.13\00:21:11.87
one of our physicians
00:21:11.90\00:21:13.23
as well as one
of our researchers
00:21:13.27\00:21:15.50
and very active in
teaching at the college
00:21:15.54\00:21:18.57
research methods and
advanced research methods.
00:21:18.61\00:21:21.74
In fact, if you
know of any students
00:21:21.78\00:21:23.45
who want to excel
and be very successful
00:21:23.48\00:21:26.21
throughout their careers,
00:21:26.25\00:21:27.82
Weimar Institute is
the place to send them
00:21:27.85\00:21:30.35
because they'll learn
how to do this research
00:21:30.39\00:21:32.25
on nutrition and
lifestyle right here
00:21:32.29\00:21:34.62
and it's by publishing
in the scientific literature
00:21:34.66\00:21:37.39
that you're able
to change the world.
00:21:37.43\00:21:39.26
And this study is exciting
because it just came out
00:21:39.29\00:21:42.76
a couple of days
ago, Dr. Ramirez.
00:21:42.80\00:21:44.27
That's right.
00:21:44.30\00:21:45.63
So this is hot off of the press.
00:21:45.67\00:21:47.20
And this was published
in the American Journal
00:21:47.24\00:21:49.94
of lifestyle medicine
00:21:49.97\00:21:51.91
the
November-December issue of 2016.
00:21:51.94\00:21:55.94
And this is a study
looking at what now?
00:21:55.98\00:21:59.35
What we are
focusing here is that
00:21:59.38\00:22:03.15
the heart of the
depression recovery program.
00:22:03.18\00:22:07.52
As a physician, you learned
00:22:07.56\00:22:09.66
that a good physician
learns the causes of the problem
00:22:09.69\00:22:14.60
because if not,
you waste your time
00:22:14.63\00:22:16.77
just dealing with symptoms.
00:22:16.80\00:22:18.50
But if you're
able to put your finger
00:22:18.53\00:22:20.87
where the problem lies,
00:22:20.90\00:22:22.77
then there is hope,
00:22:22.80\00:22:24.14
and that's what
this paper is all about,
00:22:24.17\00:22:26.24
about hope for the depressed
and the person with anxiety.
00:22:26.27\00:22:29.88
That's important
because depression
00:22:29.91\00:22:31.91
doesn't have the same
cause in every individual.
00:22:31.95\00:22:35.12
There are some people
that can be severely depressed
00:22:35.15\00:22:37.49
for one set of reasons
00:22:37.52\00:22:38.92
and another group of
people can be depressed
00:22:38.95\00:22:41.69
for a whole
different group of reasons.
00:22:41.72\00:22:43.86
And so there's many factors
00:22:43.89\00:22:45.69
that can affect brain chemistry.
00:22:45.73\00:22:48.83
What are some of those factors
that can affect brain chemistry
00:22:48.86\00:22:51.90
this study looked at?
00:22:51.93\00:22:53.27
In this study,
00:22:53.30\00:22:55.40
there are 10 hits or
causes of depression.
00:22:55.44\00:23:00.44
And those are, from
those 10, 2 you cannot change,
00:23:00.48\00:23:05.11
the rest of the 8
00:23:05.15\00:23:06.85
they are
potentially of reversible.
00:23:06.88\00:23:09.28
The two that you cannot change
00:23:09.32\00:23:10.65
are the genetic
and the developmental,
00:23:10.69\00:23:12.45
the way you grew up
00:23:12.49\00:23:13.82
and the genes that you
received from your family.
00:23:13.86\00:23:15.89
Yeah, if you're
already an adult,
00:23:15.92\00:23:17.99
and of course, we can't go
back and have you be born again
00:23:18.03\00:23:21.53
so to speak as far
as the genetic part,
00:23:21.56\00:23:24.63
and of course,
00:23:24.67\00:23:26.03
we can't have you go
through childhood again,
00:23:26.07\00:23:28.24
and so those two
things tend to be fixed.
00:23:28.27\00:23:30.51
But everything else
we actually can change
00:23:30.54\00:23:33.91
in the biology of the
brain, and that's exciting.
00:23:33.94\00:23:38.35
What did this study
actually show as far as causes?
00:23:38.38\00:23:43.08
How many...
00:23:43.12\00:23:45.09
I think the study showed
00:23:45.12\00:23:46.45
that depression is
not just one cause.
00:23:46.49\00:23:49.82
In fact, you can have bad genes,
00:23:49.86\00:23:51.69
you can, been raised in
a very dysfunctional home
00:23:51.73\00:23:54.93
but you don't
have to have depression
00:23:54.96\00:23:57.13
if you don't have other causes.
00:23:57.17\00:23:58.60
And that's the beauty of this
study that is very importance.
00:23:58.63\00:24:01.44
You can
actually access for free.
00:24:01.47\00:24:03.97
When we published this,
00:24:04.01\00:24:05.44
we paid more than
$3,000 to make it open,
00:24:05.47\00:24:08.04
anybody can access this paper.
00:24:08.08\00:24:10.08
If you Google the
words Nedley and Hypothesis,
00:24:10.11\00:24:13.95
the first hits on
your Google are this study.
00:24:13.98\00:24:17.39
And what we're showing is that
00:24:17.42\00:24:19.19
in order for you
to have depression,
00:24:19.22\00:24:21.06
you need to have four
or more of these factors
00:24:21.09\00:24:25.46
active in your life.
00:24:25.49\00:24:27.30
Okay, so four or more,
00:24:27.33\00:24:29.30
and then you're
gonna have depression.
00:24:29.33\00:24:30.67
And that means all of us
can succumb to depression.
00:24:30.70\00:24:33.67
If we have four
different categories of causes,
00:24:33.70\00:24:36.47
you're gonna end up
with depression, or anxiety,
00:24:36.50\00:24:38.91
or some other mental illness.
00:24:38.94\00:24:41.31
And the good
news is these changes,
00:24:41.34\00:24:44.21
these hits or risk
factors can be reversed.
00:24:44.25\00:24:47.98
And if we take it
down to two or less,
00:24:48.02\00:24:50.42
then the depression
and anxiety goes away.
00:24:50.45\00:24:52.29
That's right.
00:24:52.32\00:24:53.66
That's the
beautiful thing about this
00:24:53.69\00:24:55.56
that the person
can use this causes
00:24:55.59\00:24:58.63
as a motivator for
them, and a goal to change,
00:24:58.66\00:25:02.20
and to improve
their mental health.
00:25:02.23\00:25:04.50
Now one of the ways you as
a listener can access this,
00:25:04.53\00:25:07.57
or someone else
you know and love,
00:25:07.60\00:25:09.80
just look at depression
anxiety assessment test,
00:25:09.84\00:25:13.54
the DAAT test,
you can look that up.
00:25:13.58\00:25:15.78
And you can
actually find out the causes
00:25:15.81\00:25:17.68
that might be operative
in your loved one or you,
00:25:17.71\00:25:20.52
and then there can be a
little subscription there
00:25:20.55\00:25:22.68
or prescription
00:25:22.72\00:25:24.09
as regards to what
you can do differently
00:25:24.12\00:25:26.69
to get rid of this
depression and anxiety.
00:25:26.72\00:25:29.22
So this produces a lot of hope.
00:25:29.26\00:25:31.29
Yes, and many
people have been helped,
00:25:31.33\00:25:33.66
more than 6,000 people
are around the literal globe
00:25:33.70\00:25:37.30
have been helped
with this principles.
00:25:37.33\00:25:39.90
You know, interestingly
00:25:39.93\00:25:41.27
the average
medicine for depression
00:25:41.30\00:25:42.74
that's released on the market
has less than a 1,000 patients
00:25:42.77\00:25:45.61
that have taken that medicine.
00:25:45.64\00:25:47.14
This is a program
that's far more tried and true
00:25:47.18\00:25:50.91
than medication
00:25:50.95\00:25:52.41
and it actually works
far better than medication.
00:25:52.45\00:25:55.42
And we have
published more than 20 papers
00:25:55.45\00:25:58.02
related to that topic.
00:25:58.05\00:25:59.82
If you keep
watching this program,
00:25:59.85\00:26:01.69
you will learn more about those
studies that we have published.
00:26:01.72\00:26:05.16
Thank you for
watching NEWSTART Now.
00:26:05.19\00:26:07.30
I'm Dr. Neil Nedley.
00:26:07.33\00:26:08.66
Join us again next week
for another exciting study.
00:26:08.70\00:26:13.67
When we look at the health
status of Americans today,
00:26:13.70\00:26:16.44
it's alarming to see that 60%
are either overweight or obese.
00:26:16.47\00:26:20.98
In addition, diseases such
as type 2 diabetes, cancer,
00:26:26.28\00:26:29.65
and heart disorders
are the leading cause
00:26:29.68\00:26:31.65
of so many complications
and deaths every year.
00:26:31.69\00:26:34.82
Could it have something
to do with what we eat?
00:26:39.06\00:26:41.83
After all,
everyone in four Americans
00:26:41.86\00:26:44.37
visits a
fast-food restaurant daily
00:26:44.40\00:26:46.47
and with such easy
access to quick fix foods,
00:26:46.50\00:26:50.11
we tend to forget
the poor health value
00:26:50.14\00:26:52.07
those foods actually offer.
00:26:52.11\00:26:55.04
Maybe it's the
sedentary lifestyle
00:26:55.08\00:26:56.91
and lack of exercise
00:26:56.95\00:26:58.28
that we've become so accustomed
to as media dependent world.
00:26:58.31\00:27:02.42
Whatever the
cause of these diseases,
00:27:02.45\00:27:04.29
a solution has arrived.
00:27:04.32\00:27:08.49
The NEWSTART Lifestyle
Center offers enriching program
00:27:08.52\00:27:11.89
where patients can get a healing
00:27:11.93\00:27:13.60
of mind, body, and soul.
00:27:13.63\00:27:15.83
Located in the
outskirts of Sacramento,
00:27:15.86\00:27:18.27
the NEWSTART Center is
situated on the beautiful campus
00:27:18.30\00:27:21.50
of Weimar Center of
Health and Education,

with scenic walking and
hiking trails all around.
00:27:24.24\00:27:27.98
With a whole plant
foods eaten whole motto,
00:27:28.01\00:27:31.35
the NEWSTART Center promotes
a healthy plant-based diet
00:27:31.38\00:27:34.48
with an emphasis
on natural foods.
00:27:34.52\00:27:36.99
The NEWSTART staff are made
up of California board-certified
00:27:37.02\00:27:40.59
nurses, doctors,
dieticians, and therapists
00:27:40.62\00:27:44.59
who work together to
assist each patient personally.
00:27:44.63\00:27:47.86
The staff are dedicated
to each patient's success
00:27:47.90\00:27:50.33
in the program
00:27:50.37\00:27:51.70
and are always there to
guide, advise, and encourage.
00:27:51.73\00:27:55.37
In addition to a
healthy lifestyle,
00:27:55.40\00:27:57.51
NEWSTART also promotes a
healthy exercise routine.
00:27:57.54\00:28:00.64
You're both in
sequence, that's good.
00:28:00.68\00:28:02.34
All right.
00:28:02.38\00:28:03.71
As part of the balanced program,
00:28:03.75\00:28:05.21
there is much opportunity
to get in the fair share
00:28:05.25\00:28:07.72
of physical activity
00:28:07.75\00:28:09.08
from utilizing
our fitness center
00:28:09.12\00:28:11.25
