Hi, friends, and welcome to another edition 00:01:12.07\00:01:14.24 of NEWSTART Now. 00:01:14.27\00:01:15.77 I'm your host Ron Giannoni. 00:01:15.80\00:01:18.47 In our studio with me is LeJon Stan... 00:01:18.51\00:01:21.64 I just love that name, LeJon Stanley 00:01:21.68\00:01:24.61 from Lancaster, California. 00:01:24.65\00:01:27.05 Let's take a look at a clip when she first arrived. 00:01:27.08\00:01:32.32 I came to the NEWSTART program 00:01:32.35\00:01:34.39 because I have high blood pressure, 00:01:34.42\00:01:39.43 high cholesterol, pre-diabetic, and I was having chest pains. 00:01:39.46\00:01:47.20 So along with all the medication 00:01:47.24\00:01:49.57 that I was taking for the blood pressure 00:01:49.60\00:01:52.14 and the doctor wanted me to take another medication 00:01:52.17\00:01:55.94 for the cholesterol, and I refused. 00:01:55.98\00:01:59.31 I said, no. No more medicine. 00:01:59.35\00:02:01.08 I was barely taking that. 00:02:01.12\00:02:03.45 And I was investigating, you know, 00:02:03.49\00:02:08.96 programs that I could go to and never heard of NEWSTART. 00:02:08.99\00:02:14.16 And through my research, NEWSTART came up 00:02:14.20\00:02:18.50 and that was on a Sunday evening 00:02:18.53\00:02:20.84 and Monday morning, 00:02:20.87\00:02:22.20 I was speaking to a gentleman named Ron. 00:02:22.24\00:02:24.74 Before I leave NEWSTART, 00:02:24.77\00:02:27.84 I would love for all my numbers to be down. 00:02:27.88\00:02:33.08 I would love to have lost some weight. 00:02:33.11\00:02:37.25 And I would love for my spiritual connection 00:02:37.29\00:02:44.33 to God to be closer. 00:02:44.36\00:02:47.76 And I want all this because I want to live 00:02:47.80\00:02:51.63 the latter part of my life healthy and strong 00:02:51.67\00:02:56.00 for my grandchildren 00:02:56.04\00:02:57.94 and my great granddaughter, Carter. 00:02:57.97\00:03:01.28 And I just believe that being here at NEWSTART 00:03:01.31\00:03:08.52 will do just that, give me that new start 00:03:08.55\00:03:11.29 that I'm looking for. 00:03:11.32\00:03:13.76 Hi, friends. Right. 00:07:15.43\00:07:17.37 Nutrition, Exercise, Water, Sunshine, Temperance, Air, 00:07:17.40\00:07:22.77 Rest and Trust in God. 00:07:22.80\00:07:26.11 Yes. 00:07:26.14\00:07:27.48 So all these things put together 00:07:27.51\00:07:30.75 is what you're experiencing now and that's helping you 00:07:30.78\00:07:33.85 with a new lease on life so to speak. 00:07:33.88\00:07:36.32 Yes. It definitely can be hid. 00:07:50.63\00:07:51.97 You did a pretty good job. Oh, thank you. 00:07:52.00\00:07:54.60 So now I'm just... 00:07:54.64\00:07:57.21 I feel like I'm 95 percent of the LeJon 00:07:57.24\00:08:02.14 that God wants me to be. 00:08:02.18\00:08:03.51 Amen. 00:08:03.55\00:08:04.88 And as I continue on this road of NEWSTART, 00:08:04.91\00:08:10.52 you know, I'm going to be fine, I'm going to be fine. 00:08:10.55\00:08:14.82 And it's amazing how each component 00:08:14.86\00:08:17.33 works together like you said, I was this kind of blown away 00:08:17.36\00:08:21.00 learning about how important air, fresh air and rest... 00:08:21.03\00:08:27.40 And I used to stay up late and get things done 00:08:27.44\00:08:30.64 because I thought everything needed to be done, 00:08:30.67\00:08:32.41 you know, before I went to bed and now I realize, you know, 00:08:32.44\00:08:36.04 going to bed, going to sleeping, 00:08:36.08\00:08:38.01 getting the proper rest gives me a fresh start 00:08:38.05\00:08:41.62 for the next day. 00:08:41.65\00:08:43.62 You know, and nothing is as important as your health. 00:08:43.65\00:08:48.36 And I wish I had learned that 40-50 years ago. 00:08:48.39\00:08:53.76 Don't we? Yes, yes. 00:08:53.80\00:08:56.43 But the good part is you can turn it all around. 00:08:56.46\00:08:59.13 That's right. Yes. 00:08:59.17\00:09:00.50 And God can do wonders. Amen. 00:12:00.35\00:12:01.68 And, friends, thank you for joining us 00:12:01.72\00:12:03.05 but don't go away, 00:12:03.08\00:12:04.42 Dr. Lukens will be right with us. 00:12:04.45\00:12:06.76 Every year in America 00:12:10.23\00:12:11.56 there are over one million deaths 00:12:11.59\00:12:12.93 because of Type 2 diabetes and chronic obesity. 00:12:12.96\00:12:15.80 This includes heart attacks and strokes. 00:12:15.83\00:12:18.13 That's six and half 747s crashing every day. 00:12:18.17\00:12:21.74 What's even more surprising is that the fix is easy. 00:12:21.77\00:12:25.11 It's your lifestyle. 00:12:25.14\00:12:26.64 Wouldn't it be nice if you could actually add 00:12:26.68\00:12:28.58 quality years to your life 00:12:28.61\00:12:29.94 rather than dying one organ at a time? 00:12:29.98\00:12:32.78 Obesity and diabetes are the cause 00:12:32.81\00:12:34.55 of over million deaths per year. 00:12:34.58\00:12:36.95 Most diseases are reversible 00:12:36.99\00:12:39.12 because most diseases are lifestyle diseases, 00:12:39.15\00:12:42.06 especially Type 2 diabetes and chronic obesity. 00:12:42.09\00:12:45.49 Seriously now, they can be reversed 00:12:45.53\00:12:47.76 and the quality of your life can be renewed. 00:12:47.80\00:12:51.33 Call NEWSTART today at 1-800-525-9192. 00:12:51.37\00:12:57.51 You will see dramatic changes in the first few days 00:12:57.54\00:13:00.04 of our program and you'll be on the road 00:13:00.08\00:13:02.28 to a better more robust quality of life. 00:13:02.31\00:13:05.15 The NEWSTART programs are simple and effective. 00:13:05.18\00:13:08.15 Welcome back, friends. 00:13:11.89\00:13:13.22 Help me say hello to Dr. Lukens. 00:13:13.25\00:13:16.39 Very, very good. Good to be back. 00:13:16.42\00:13:17.79 Good to see you. Yeah. 00:13:17.83\00:13:19.16 It's really nice. So much good to see you. 00:13:19.19\00:13:20.53 You're looking well. So are you. 00:13:20.56\00:13:23.26 And your numbers have gotten so good, 00:13:23.30\00:13:25.97 I think that it's hard to keep you humble anymore. 00:13:26.00\00:13:29.40 I know, I know. Yeah. 00:13:29.44\00:13:30.77 Well, you know, we... 00:13:30.81\00:13:32.14 Well, it's been 11 years. 00:13:32.17\00:13:33.51 It's about time. Yeah. 00:13:33.54\00:13:35.58 I just had read the draw, I guess they're wondering 00:13:35.61\00:13:39.31 what we're talking about. 00:13:39.35\00:13:40.72 The best numbers I've had in 11 years. 00:13:40.75\00:13:43.65 So I'm grateful. 00:13:43.69\00:13:45.02 And they're all in the safe range. 00:13:45.05\00:13:46.39 Yes. Totally safe. 00:13:46.42\00:13:47.76 So I'm safe. Yeah. 00:13:47.79\00:13:49.12 I can go run marathons now. 00:13:49.16\00:13:50.49 Okay, all right. Yes. 00:13:50.53\00:13:52.19 I want to talk about LeJon, isn't that a beautiful name? 00:13:52.23\00:13:55.73 Yeah, it is. 00:13:55.76\00:13:57.10 And, you know, when she got here, 00:13:57.13\00:13:58.47 she was dealing with a number of issues. 00:13:58.50\00:14:02.04 Tell us about that real quick? 00:14:02.07\00:14:04.41 Well, one of the things is that, you know, 00:14:04.44\00:14:06.51 when you get up every day and you start working 00:14:06.54\00:14:10.41 and you're doing your routine and stuff like that, 00:14:10.45\00:14:13.11 she was getting depressed. 00:14:13.15\00:14:15.05 Yes. 00:14:15.08\00:14:16.42 And she was getting anxious, and her blood pressures 00:14:16.45\00:14:19.42 were going up, and they're getting her 00:14:19.45\00:14:21.79 on different medications and so she just... 00:14:21.82\00:14:27.50 she was getting more and more down all the time. 00:14:27.53\00:14:30.47 So she comes here and, you know, 00:14:30.50\00:14:33.97 that the joints are the problem and, you know, 00:14:34.00\00:14:37.17 this hip and that knee and so forth 00:14:37.21\00:14:41.04 which is kind of common. 00:14:41.08\00:14:42.64 Because people that are eating the diet 00:14:42.68\00:14:45.21 like the standard American diet, 00:14:45.25\00:14:47.52 they have so many things that go wrong with them. 00:14:47.55\00:14:50.22 And after a while, you know, she's had a lot of stress 00:14:50.25\00:14:56.99 and we might talk about that later. 00:14:57.03\00:14:58.63 But anyway, so being in a situation like this 00:14:58.66\00:15:03.60 is just like I must be getting old, 00:15:03.63\00:15:07.54 I must be wearing out, 00:15:07.57\00:15:09.34 there must be no future for me, and I'm still young, you know. 00:15:09.37\00:15:13.01 So, you know, it's tough to see 00:15:13.04\00:15:15.61 these things going wrong with you. 00:15:15.64\00:15:17.18 And some people say when you're 40, 00:15:17.21\00:15:19.38 then you're over the hill and you're going down. 00:15:19.41\00:15:22.52 But, you know, she didn't want that. 00:15:22.55\00:15:24.29 No, 60s and then the 40s now. 00:15:24.32\00:15:27.56 Well, I don't know what it is. 00:15:27.59\00:15:28.92 But I want to touch on something you just said, 00:15:28.96\00:15:31.43 because I know there's a lot of viewers out there 00:15:31.46\00:15:34.40 that are depressed. 00:15:34.43\00:15:36.33 Some of them don't even know it. 00:15:36.36\00:15:38.63 But the majority of people come here. 00:15:38.67\00:15:40.84 When you say the majority are depressed 00:15:40.87\00:15:42.74 and then they leave 00:15:42.77\00:15:44.11 and they're not depressed anymore. 00:15:44.14\00:15:45.87 Well, that's how we see and you know why that is. 00:15:45.91\00:15:49.11 My wife... 00:15:49.14\00:15:50.48 I got a feeling that you're going to tell me. 00:15:50.51\00:15:53.21 My wife's psychiatric... 00:15:53.25\00:15:55.12 Clinical Psychiatric News, years ago said, 00:15:55.15\00:15:59.32 "If you're going to put somebody 00:15:59.35\00:16:01.06 on an antidepressant, 00:16:01.09\00:16:03.56 50 percent of their therapies are exercise." 00:16:03.59\00:16:07.53 And, you know, if you've got a joint that hurts 00:16:07.56\00:16:09.96 and you can only go to a swimming pool to, 00:16:10.00\00:16:13.84 and the doctor says, "You know, 00:16:13.87\00:16:15.20 you've got a bad hip or a bad knee" or whatever, 00:16:15.24\00:16:17.61 you got to take care of that. 00:16:17.64\00:16:19.54 And then, you know, 00:16:19.57\00:16:21.41 there's a muscle twitch or a pain, 00:16:21.44\00:16:24.31 you know, in an area then you just say, 00:16:24.35\00:16:26.78 "Well, every time I move, it hurts 00:16:26.82\00:16:29.58 and you're telling me to move." 00:16:29.62\00:16:31.32 So they'll come in and they'll be walking 00:16:31.35\00:16:33.86 maybe just around the flagpole and then when they get 00:16:33.89\00:16:37.93 to the place where they can walk 00:16:37.96\00:16:39.29 the half mile loop, especially the up part 00:16:39.33\00:16:42.76 and then, you know, they're just kind of like... 00:16:42.80\00:16:45.43 you know, and when they start feeling better and... 00:16:45.47\00:16:50.54 I guess we should talk about the depression part. 00:16:50.57\00:16:53.11 Her mother has quite advanced Alzheimer's disease. 00:16:53.14\00:16:56.44 And when she goes there, you know, 00:16:56.48\00:16:58.88 it's getting worse and her mom really, you know, 00:16:58.91\00:17:02.95 isn't her mom anymore. 00:17:02.98\00:17:04.79 But she said, "You know, 00:17:04.82\00:17:06.15 I retired a couple of years ago." 00:17:06.19\00:17:08.52 And I said, "Well, what are you going to do, 00:17:08.56\00:17:10.99 you know, you're only, you know, 00:17:11.03\00:17:12.66 you're two or three years from retirement." 00:17:12.69\00:17:14.83 She said, "You know, 00:17:14.86\00:17:16.20 I'm going to go back to school." 00:17:16.23\00:17:17.90 But the greatest thing that has happened with her 00:17:17.93\00:17:20.40 is that she's having a spiritual renewal, 00:17:20.44\00:17:22.94 and that's why we're opened. 00:17:22.97\00:17:24.31 Amen. Yeah. 00:17:24.34\00:17:25.67 Yeah. 00:17:25.71\00:17:27.04 You know, a lot of people don't realize 00:17:27.08\00:17:28.41 but there's a spiritual aspect of the program. 00:17:28.44\00:17:31.68 You know, NEWSTART acronym, the last letter "T" 00:17:31.71\00:17:35.42 Trust in God and, you know, there's an emphasis here 00:17:35.45\00:17:40.49 because truly, God's presence is here on the campus. 00:17:40.52\00:17:45.43 He's everywhere, He's with our doctors, 00:17:45.46\00:17:47.86 He's with our nutritionists, certainly our cafeteria, 00:17:47.90\00:17:52.53 our massage therapist, and with Beth and myself 00:17:52.57\00:17:56.84 as we work together to help bring people into the program. 00:17:56.87\00:18:01.24 And I think we need to elaborate on that trust 00:18:01.28\00:18:05.78 that we have in God and how He performs miracles. 00:18:05.81\00:18:09.65 You're looking at one. Absolutely. 00:18:09.68\00:18:12.05 You know, I would be dead if I didn't come here 00:18:12.09\00:18:15.99 to the NEWSTART program. 00:18:16.02\00:18:17.36 Yeah. Yeah, I know. 00:18:17.39\00:18:18.79 You know that and I know that. 00:18:18.83\00:18:20.96 Now, one of the things is we have a chaplain here 00:18:21.00\00:18:24.77 that takes people through a spiritual journey 00:18:24.80\00:18:27.77 right out of the Bible. 00:18:27.80\00:18:29.77 I left him out, I'm sorry. 00:18:29.80\00:18:31.57 No, no, no but this is her, what do you call it 00:18:31.61\00:18:36.04 the epiphany, this is her spiritual epiphany, 00:18:36.08\00:18:39.48 and she is so thrilled that she has a loving savior 00:18:39.51\00:18:44.12 who is the great physician, 00:18:44.15\00:18:46.12 and she's doing these eight natural remedies 00:18:46.15\00:18:49.52 and one supernatural. 00:18:49.56\00:18:52.03 And we put everybody in the hands 00:18:52.06\00:18:54.16 of the great physician and he says, 00:18:54.20\00:18:58.03 "Look, this is my way of healing people. 00:18:58.07\00:19:01.60 And when you do it, I'm right there 00:19:01.64\00:19:04.01 and I'm going to make it happen." 00:19:04.04\00:19:05.84 You know, when she gets back home, 00:19:05.87\00:19:07.84 I can just see, she's going to be a teacher. 00:19:07.88\00:19:10.45 She is going to be teaching at her church. 00:19:10.48\00:19:13.08 An example. She'll be a living example. 00:19:13.11\00:19:16.32 People will look at her and go, "Wow, what happened?" 00:19:16.35\00:19:19.32 And she'll be talking about the NEWSTART program 00:19:19.35\00:19:22.06 as most people do. 00:19:22.09\00:19:24.86 So, you know, I want to encourage you... 00:19:24.89\00:19:27.30 But I want to tell people don't get overly exuberant 00:19:27.33\00:19:31.20 and make them, you know... 00:19:31.23\00:19:33.00 Live the life, and when they keep seeing it 00:19:33.03\00:19:36.24 like one of our other patients, everywhere he goes 00:19:36.27\00:19:39.57 people look at him and they say, 00:19:39.61\00:19:41.18 "You've got to tell me now." 00:19:41.21\00:19:42.81 Because he was way overweight and now he's coming down 00:19:42.84\00:19:45.98 and coming down and people give anything 00:19:46.01\00:19:47.95 to be able to do that. 00:19:47.98\00:19:49.32 And they look at his face and they say, 00:19:49.35\00:19:51.42 "I can see it in your face." 00:19:51.45\00:19:52.92 You're talking about the Rabbi? 00:19:52.95\00:19:54.59 No. No? Okay. 00:19:54.62\00:19:55.96 You don't want to mention any names. 00:19:55.99\00:19:57.33 It's okay. 00:19:57.36\00:19:58.69 We have a lot of people like that 00:19:58.73\00:20:00.06 that call us all the time. 00:20:00.10\00:20:01.43 Yeah. 00:20:01.46\00:20:02.80 Send us emails and thanking us. 00:20:02.83\00:20:04.17 It's just so... 00:20:04.20\00:20:05.53 Well, then there are advertisement 00:20:05.57\00:20:06.90 and that's where... 00:20:06.94\00:20:08.27 Well, we did a survey one time and 95 percent of the people 00:20:08.30\00:20:10.97 that come here, it's not a blast, 00:20:11.01\00:20:12.97 it's not a brochure, 00:20:13.01\00:20:14.34 it's not a big claim or something like that. 00:20:14.38\00:20:16.51 They say, "Listen, you tell me what you're doing, you know." 00:20:16.54\00:20:21.05 And they say, "Well, you know, I changed my diet." 00:20:21.08\00:20:23.35 And they keep watching and they say, 00:20:23.39\00:20:25.22 "Listen, you tell me, I'm readying." 00:20:25.25\00:20:29.52 I used to talk to people telling her eyes 00:20:29.56\00:20:31.73 are glazed over, you know. 00:20:31.76\00:20:33.36 The funny thing, how do I get this 00:20:33.40\00:20:35.16 none out of you, you know. 00:20:35.20\00:20:37.40 I've got my half of my shopping card 00:20:37.43\00:20:40.47 filled with beef and fish and... 00:20:40.50\00:20:43.10 Oh, here comes Dr. Lukens, let's go that way. 00:20:43.14\00:20:45.74 No, no, no they don't know me from anybody. 00:20:45.77\00:20:47.11 Okay. 00:20:47.14\00:20:48.48 But I'm so excited about was that, 00:20:48.51\00:20:49.84 that's when I first got here. 00:20:49.88\00:20:51.21 Now I'm learning to temper it down 00:20:51.25\00:20:52.91 just a little bit. 00:20:52.95\00:20:54.28 And I was just telling Dr. Gallant, 00:20:54.32\00:20:56.35 how well poised you are that it's no big deal 00:20:56.38\00:21:00.16 if people's numbers are high, 00:21:00.19\00:21:02.12 because you've been doing this for 27 years, 00:21:02.16\00:21:05.29 you know that the numbers will come down. 00:21:05.33\00:21:07.86 If they will keep in touch with us. 00:21:07.90\00:21:10.93 And that's what we're doing now. 00:21:10.97\00:21:12.30 Yes. Yeah. 00:21:12.33\00:21:13.67 And you're doing a good job. 00:21:13.70\00:21:15.04 We're trying to follow people that are ready for dialysis 00:21:15.07\00:21:17.67 and keep them off of it. 00:21:17.71\00:21:19.04 Yes. 00:21:19.07\00:21:20.41 And we have plenty of people who have been here 00:21:20.44\00:21:22.31 with kidney failure in the last several sessions. 00:21:22.34\00:21:25.61 Yeah. We've had seven or eight. 00:21:25.65\00:21:27.28 Yeah, yeah, we have. 00:21:27.32\00:21:28.65 And now they're all doing well. 00:21:28.68\00:21:30.02 So if you've got a kidney condition, 00:21:30.05\00:21:31.82 you should get here real quick. 00:21:31.85\00:21:33.46 Even if it's hypertensive. 00:21:33.49\00:21:35.16 Even if, whatever that is. Yeah. 00:21:35.19\00:21:36.86 Most of them are diabetic with hypertensive ones, 00:21:36.89\00:21:39.49 they said, "There's nothing you can do." 00:21:39.53\00:21:41.56 And we found out that... 00:21:41.60\00:21:43.60 Some people are told that they have to go 00:21:43.63\00:21:45.13 on dialysis four and a half years out, 00:21:45.17\00:21:47.44 they haven't started. 00:21:47.47\00:21:48.80 We're out of time. I got to cut you off. 00:21:48.84\00:21:50.17 Thanks Doc. 00:21:50.21\00:21:51.54 It's always good to see you. Yes, sir. 00:21:51.57\00:21:53.24 And, friends, don't go away, 00:21:53.27\00:21:54.61 we have an important message for you. 00:21:54.64\00:21:56.81 Hi, I'm Dr Neil Nedley of NEWSTART Now. 00:21:59.95\00:22:03.05 And with me today is Dr. Eddie Ramirez. 00:22:03.08\00:22:06.49 We, at the NEWSTART program have been publishing a lot 00:22:06.52\00:22:10.06 in the peer reviewed scientific literature 00:22:10.09\00:22:12.69 on what is happening to even the average patient 00:22:12.73\00:22:16.67 that comes through Weimar's NEWSTART program. 00:22:16.70\00:22:20.97 And, you know, one of the major problems 00:22:21.00\00:22:22.77 we have in the world today, Dr Eddie Ramirez, is obesity. 00:22:22.80\00:22:27.54 Tell us a little bit about the problem of obesity. 00:22:27.58\00:22:30.51 It's not just an American problem anymore. 00:22:30.55\00:22:33.01 That's right. 00:22:33.05\00:22:34.38 Both of us have traveled quite a bit around the world 00:22:34.42\00:22:36.38 and this is a problem we very often see. 00:22:36.42\00:22:39.99 The problem with obesity is that as you gain weight 00:22:40.02\00:22:43.53 apart from talking about the statics 00:22:43.56\00:22:45.89 or this other type of topics, the health, 00:22:45.93\00:22:48.96 it has a negative effect on your health. 00:22:49.00\00:22:51.73 You increase many other risk factors 00:22:51.77\00:22:55.87 that actually increased your risk 00:22:55.90\00:22:57.84 of dying sooner than what you should be. 00:22:57.87\00:23:01.14 And that's why authorities around the world 00:23:01.18\00:23:04.08 are investing lots of money to try to understand, 00:23:04.11\00:23:06.61 why people are gaining weight and what can we do about it? 00:23:06.65\00:23:08.98 Well, I think we have a very tangible solution 00:23:09.02\00:23:12.35 to that problem. 00:23:12.39\00:23:13.72 Yes, you know, in America, over one out of three people 00:23:13.76\00:23:17.16 are overweight. 00:23:17.19\00:23:18.53 Almost one out of two people are overweight. 00:23:18.56\00:23:22.66 And that is a major problem 00:23:22.70\00:23:24.87 in regards to their future health. 00:23:24.90\00:23:27.27 And fortunately, it's something we can reverse. 00:23:27.30\00:23:29.64 You know, we've often thought, you know, if you're just obese, 00:23:29.67\00:23:32.44 it's kind of your metabolism or you're kind of born 00:23:32.47\00:23:34.84 with those genes 00:23:34.88\00:23:36.21 and there's not much you can do about it. 00:23:36.24\00:23:39.11 But as you have discovered along with other researchers, 00:23:39.15\00:23:43.39 and my own name as on this trial 00:23:43.42\00:23:46.25 obesity reviews in April 2016, published a study. 00:23:46.29\00:23:50.99 And tell us a little bit about how you did this 00:23:51.03\00:23:54.86 and what came forward? 00:23:54.90\00:23:56.23 That's right. 00:23:56.26\00:23:57.60 Here we're using 17 years of data. 00:23:57.63\00:23:59.67 We're talking about close to 1, 200 patients 00:23:59.70\00:24:03.00 in this important study. 00:24:03.04\00:24:05.04 And what we were doing? 00:24:05.07\00:24:06.41 We were separating people 00:24:06.44\00:24:07.78 according to their different weights. 00:24:07.81\00:24:09.84 There are some people that have normal weight that participate, 00:24:09.88\00:24:12.31 some are underweight, some are overweight 00:24:12.35\00:24:14.68 and some are obese. 00:24:14.72\00:24:16.48 And what we found out here as we divided the groups 00:24:16.52\00:24:21.06 is that the plan based diet and the interventions 00:24:21.09\00:24:24.39 that we're doing with the NEWSTART program, 00:24:24.43\00:24:27.66 if you are underweight, you shouldn't worry 00:24:27.70\00:24:30.20 because you're not going to lose weight 00:24:30.23\00:24:31.57 on this full plant based diet 00:24:31.60\00:24:33.80 that you're going to be receiving. 00:24:33.84\00:24:35.74 If you have normal weight also, you should not be worrying, 00:24:35.77\00:24:39.44 your weight will maintain the same. 00:24:39.47\00:24:41.44 But if you have overweight or obesity, 00:24:41.48\00:24:45.68 your weight loss will be proportionate 00:24:45.71\00:24:48.15 to how much excess weight you have. 00:24:48.18\00:24:50.12 In other words, the more obese you are, 00:24:50.15\00:24:53.05 the more weight you will lose in these 18-day programs 00:24:53.09\00:24:56.22 according to their data as we process it. 00:24:56.26\00:24:59.26 Well, that's pretty exciting because a lot of people think, 00:24:59.29\00:25:01.56 you know, "I'm probably too fat to experience those benefits." 00:25:01.60\00:25:07.07 But actually the fatter the people are 00:25:07.10\00:25:09.90 the better their response... 00:25:09.94\00:25:11.27 That's right. When they come to NEWSTART. 00:25:11.31\00:25:13.01 And the beauty of this is that, you know, 00:25:13.04\00:25:16.68 this is not like a crash program 00:25:16.71\00:25:18.55 that you're going to lose 30 pounds 00:25:18.58\00:25:21.38 or some incredible number, 00:25:21.42\00:25:23.75 those type of programs in which you lose 00:25:23.79\00:25:25.95 a lot, a lot of weight very rapidly studies show 00:25:25.99\00:25:29.02 those people are going to gain that weight back. 00:25:29.06\00:25:30.83 Yeah, called yo-yo dieting. 00:25:30.86\00:25:32.89 So rather we're going to give you the tools 00:25:32.93\00:25:36.53 so that you can start losing weight 00:25:36.56\00:25:39.73 step by step as you are enjoying 00:25:39.77\00:25:42.94 the good food, and the exercise, and so forth. 00:25:42.97\00:25:46.74 This is something that you can maintain 00:25:46.78\00:25:49.21 at the long-term. 00:25:49.24\00:25:50.65 This is not just a plan of 18 days 00:25:50.68\00:25:53.72 and then you go home to the old lifestyle, 00:25:53.75\00:25:55.58 we'll train you, we'll give you the tools, 00:25:55.62\00:25:57.49 so you can learn how to maintain this change at home. 00:25:57.52\00:26:00.42 Well, that's exciting. 00:26:00.46\00:26:01.79 You know, the study looked at BMI 00:26:01.82\00:26:04.03 which is Body Mass Index 00:26:04.06\00:26:05.89 and if you want to look that up at home, 00:26:05.93\00:26:08.13 just know your weight in pounds, 00:26:08.16\00:26:10.37 and how tall you are, and you can calculate your BMI. 00:26:10.40\00:26:14.00 So this works for BMIs over 25, 00:26:14.04\00:26:16.60 which means that you're overweight, 00:26:16.64\00:26:18.01 if you're over 30, you're obese. 00:26:18.04\00:26:20.84 And I would encourage you overweight, underweight, 00:26:20.88\00:26:24.35 or normal weight experience the benefits of NEWSTART 00:26:24.38\00:26:28.28 and invest in coming to this nice vacation land here 00:26:28.32\00:26:32.32 at Weimar Institute. 00:26:32.35\00:26:34.26 Dr. Ramirez, any closing words? 00:26:34.29\00:26:36.42 Yes, I just want to tell you that the patients 00:26:36.46\00:26:41.20 as we interview them at the end, 00:26:41.23\00:26:43.90 they were saying, "You know what? 00:26:43.93\00:26:45.40 It's so easy to lose this type of weight." 00:26:45.43\00:26:48.40 As some people have been struggling for years and years 00:26:48.44\00:26:51.01 and now they're able to finally get a solution to that problem 00:26:51.04\00:26:54.81 that they were facing. 00:26:54.84\00:26:56.18 For NEWSTART Now, I'm Dr. Neil Nedley. 00:26:56.21\00:26:58.08 Join us again next week. 00:26:58.11\00:26:59.75
