Hi, friends, and welcome 00:01:12.37\00:01:13.74 to another edition of NEWSTART Now. 00:01:13.77\00:01:16.17 I'm your host, Ron Giannoni. 00:01:16.20\00:01:18.84 In our studios with me today 00:01:18.87\00:01:20.38 I have Kath Mauller from Missouri. 00:01:20.41\00:01:24.35 Now this is unusual interview, 00:01:24.38\00:01:26.18 I want you to pay close attention 00:01:26.21\00:01:28.82 especially for you cancer patients. 00:01:28.85\00:01:33.29 Let's break away when she first came. 00:01:33.32\00:01:38.03 I am currently dealing with cancer, possibly. 00:01:38.06\00:01:43.67 I was diagnosed with breast cancer 00:01:43.70\00:01:46.53 in October of 2015, 00:01:46.57\00:01:50.07 had the tumor removed, 00:01:50.11\00:01:51.44 had a double mastectomy in December, 00:01:51.47\00:01:55.04 started chemo in January. 00:01:55.08\00:01:59.45 I did eight weeks of chemo, 00:01:59.48\00:02:02.22 and decided that was not for me, 00:02:02.25\00:02:06.15 and at that point I knew 00:02:06.19\00:02:07.86 that the chemo was making me sicker 00:02:07.89\00:02:11.13 rather than making me better. 00:02:11.16\00:02:14.30 So I decided to quit the chemo. 00:02:14.33\00:02:19.10 The reason why I may be still dealing with cancer 00:02:19.13\00:02:21.94 is they found cancer in my lymph nodes 00:02:21.97\00:02:24.81 and one cancer cells broke through that lymph node cell 00:02:24.84\00:02:30.51 and so, you know, 00:02:30.55\00:02:33.08 it could be anywhere in the body 00:02:33.11\00:02:35.82 so we don't know if it's metastasized or not. 00:02:35.85\00:02:40.29 I know that you're going to... 00:02:40.32\00:02:41.66 NEWSTART is going to give me a jumpstart on exercise, 00:02:41.69\00:02:45.73 that's probably been one of my biggest downfalls 00:02:45.76\00:02:49.03 is getting started, 00:02:49.06\00:02:51.07 you know, the first step is the hardest. 00:02:51.10\00:02:55.04 So I know that by getting started 00:02:55.07\00:03:00.48 I'll go home and continue 00:03:00.51\00:03:02.64 because I already be in that mode. 00:03:02.68\00:03:08.25 Welcome back, friends. Yes, you are. 00:03:11.75\00:03:14.16 You look well. 00:03:14.19\00:03:16.52 It's almost hard to believe 00:03:16.56\00:03:17.89 that you have any kind of ailments, 00:03:17.93\00:03:20.63 and I guess you really don't. 00:03:20.66\00:03:22.26 Tell us about a couple things. 00:03:22.30\00:03:25.40 During our first interview 00:03:25.43\00:03:26.77 you never told me about little lumps 00:03:26.80\00:03:29.27 you had here and there in your breast and chest area. 00:03:29.30\00:03:32.77 Tell us about that? 00:03:32.81\00:03:35.61 I had quit the chemo in March, 00:03:35.64\00:03:38.71 and I guess over the next couple of months 00:03:38.75\00:03:44.39 I had acquired some lumps in my breast, 00:03:44.42\00:03:49.72 and I started seeing a holistic doctor 00:03:49.76\00:03:52.56 and he put me on some Viscum Mali 00:03:52.59\00:03:56.90 which is a mistletoe from a European apple tree. 00:03:56.93\00:04:01.40 And so I do injections in my stomach. 00:04:01.44\00:04:04.41 He was concerned that they may be tumors. 00:04:04.44\00:04:07.38 I thought that it was just a muscle, 00:04:07.41\00:04:10.08 you know, that they had flattened down 00:04:10.11\00:04:12.61 into the breast. 00:04:12.65\00:04:15.78 But since I've been here doing the fever baths... 00:04:15.82\00:04:20.02 But when you got here, you still had lumps. 00:04:20.06\00:04:22.12 I still had the lumps when I got here. 00:04:22.16\00:04:24.99 And you've done the fever treatments... 00:04:25.03\00:04:26.83 I've done the fever treatments and continued my shots. 00:04:26.86\00:04:31.13 And on my right side 00:04:31.17\00:04:33.17 those lumps are completely gone, 00:04:33.20\00:04:35.57 and on the left side 00:04:35.60\00:04:38.21 there's maybe a quarter of the size left. 00:04:38.24\00:04:42.78 Tell us about fever treatments? 00:04:42.81\00:04:44.61 What exactly are the therapist doing to create 00:04:44.65\00:04:49.45 what we call fever treatment? 00:04:49.48\00:04:51.72 They have a tub, 00:04:51.75\00:04:53.15 and you enter the tub 00:04:53.19\00:04:56.36 of 110, 111 degree water 00:04:56.39\00:05:02.00 and you sit in the water 00:05:02.03\00:05:04.13 and they raise your temperature with that warm water. 00:05:04.17\00:05:09.90 And so it's very intensive. 00:05:09.94\00:05:13.78 What about the brain, doesn't it fry the brain? 00:05:13.81\00:05:16.54 They cover the head in a towel. 00:05:16.58\00:05:20.18 I knew that, I just wanted you to say... 00:05:20.22\00:05:22.72 For our viewers, you know, they... 00:05:22.75\00:05:24.55 Don't try this at home by the way. 00:05:24.59\00:05:25.92 No, do not. 00:05:25.95\00:05:27.29 Not unless you have a companion and trained. 00:05:27.32\00:05:30.16 I would not try this without training, for sure, 00:05:30.19\00:05:33.29 because it can be detrimental, 00:05:33.33\00:05:36.70 it's a very dangerous procedure to do on your own. 00:05:36.73\00:05:39.97 So now these fever treatments 00:05:40.00\00:05:41.90 were to build your immune system, correct? 00:05:41.94\00:05:44.81 Yes. 00:05:44.84\00:05:46.17 They build 00:05:46.21\00:05:51.91 white blood cells. 00:05:51.95\00:05:53.28 Yes. 00:05:53.31\00:05:54.65 And so, or they increase the white blood cells. 00:05:54.68\00:05:59.35 And it increase the fighter cells. 00:05:59.39\00:06:01.36 The fighter cells, the white blood cells. 00:06:01.39\00:06:02.72 The little guys that look out for the cancer cells. 00:06:02.76\00:06:05.13 That's right. 00:06:05.16\00:06:06.49 And they get the machine guns and actually kill them. 00:06:06.53\00:06:09.70 That's right. 00:06:09.73\00:06:11.07 Yes. Yes. 00:06:11.10\00:06:12.43 And so they keep you in the fever period. 00:06:12.47\00:06:17.71 Once you reach the fever, 00:06:17.74\00:06:19.77 they keep you there for about 15, 20 minutes, 00:06:19.81\00:06:23.51 I think one day I was in it for 25 minutes. 00:06:23.55\00:06:27.18 Wow! 00:06:27.22\00:06:28.78 Did you get feeling little weird? 00:06:28.82\00:06:30.85 She pours icy cold water, ice cold water on my face, 00:06:30.89\00:06:36.09 and it just feels so good. 00:06:36.12\00:06:39.09 And over my head to keep the brain 00:06:39.13\00:06:42.70 from overheating 00:06:42.73\00:06:44.90 because you could damage the brain 00:06:44.93\00:06:46.67 if it gets overheated. 00:06:46.70\00:06:49.10 And then also she has a towel over my chest 00:06:49.14\00:06:53.88 to hold the heat in, while I'm in the tub. 00:06:53.91\00:06:58.68 And then just she takes my pulse and continues 00:06:58.71\00:07:02.85 to check my temperature. 00:07:02.88\00:07:04.22 And one day I reached 103.5 00:07:04.25\00:07:09.09 and this is the day I was there for 25 minutes. 00:07:09.12\00:07:12.26 And so, 00:07:12.29\00:07:14.23 she kept monitoring me pretty often, 00:07:14.26\00:07:19.30 more often than when I was at 102.7. 00:07:19.33\00:07:23.84 And so, anyway, 00:07:23.87\00:07:27.08 then once the time is over, 00:07:27.11\00:07:29.84 she starts cooling you down, 00:07:29.88\00:07:33.11 and in the end they hose you down 00:07:33.15\00:07:35.32 with cold water, and you're pretty much finished 00:07:35.35\00:07:38.25 and then you go back to your room. 00:07:38.29\00:07:40.46 And once they check your blood pressure 00:07:40.49\00:07:42.99 and your temperature again and make sure, 00:07:43.02\00:07:45.06 you know, your temperature is down 00:07:45.09\00:07:46.63 after you're cold. 00:07:46.66\00:07:48.00 And then I go back to my room 00:07:48.03\00:07:49.36 and I lay under the covers for an hour, 00:07:49.40\00:07:51.90 and continue to allow those white blood cells 00:07:51.93\00:07:55.00 to attack any cancer cells 00:07:55.04\00:07:58.04 or whatever it needs to attack that's foreign to the body. 00:07:58.07\00:08:01.44 Now, aside from the fever treatments, 00:08:01.48\00:08:06.51 you received many lectures I know, 00:08:06.55\00:08:09.35 there is about 50 of them, 00:08:09.38\00:08:11.49 and one that I get to do have fun doing them. 00:08:11.52\00:08:16.32 You learn things about alkalinity 00:08:16.36\00:08:19.49 and pH and such. 00:08:19.53\00:08:21.76 What would you advice 00:08:21.80\00:08:23.87 the folks watching that maybe have cancer 00:08:23.90\00:08:28.37 as far as keeping their alkalinity higher 00:08:28.40\00:08:31.57 their pH in balance or such. 00:08:31.61\00:08:36.31 Well, really they have a diet for everyone. 00:08:36.34\00:08:39.98 They really don't talk about 00:08:40.02\00:08:42.42 the alkalinity so... 00:08:42.45\00:08:46.29 But you know about that. 00:08:46.32\00:08:47.66 I know about the alkalinity because I had already started 00:08:47.69\00:08:51.09 that prior to coming to NEWSTART... 00:08:51.13\00:08:52.73 And we talked about the lemon drink. 00:08:52.76\00:08:54.10 But I found, yes. 00:08:54.13\00:08:57.23 I found out that everything on the salad bar is alkaline. 00:08:57.27\00:09:03.17 Everything that they feed us here is alkaline. 00:09:03.20\00:09:08.84 So we're getting the right amount of carbs, 00:09:08.88\00:09:11.11 we're getting the right amount of fat, 00:09:11.15\00:09:12.75 we're learning, 00:09:12.78\00:09:14.12 you know, how many carbs we're supposed to eat, 00:09:14.15\00:09:16.62 how many fats we're supposed to eat, 00:09:16.65\00:09:18.32 how many proteins, 00:09:18.35\00:09:20.06 and then you always eat a salad as big as your head. 00:09:20.09\00:09:24.69 So you want your, the majority of your diet 00:09:24.73\00:09:28.70 to be raw foods 00:09:28.73\00:09:30.70 that alkaline vegetables so... 00:09:30.73\00:09:36.47 Now what about the exercise for cancer? 00:09:36.50\00:09:40.58 They recommend lots of walking, lots of walking. 00:09:40.61\00:09:45.31 And they don't recommend really running 00:09:45.35\00:09:47.32 because that's harder on your bones and your joints. 00:09:47.35\00:09:52.05 You get more from walking than you do from running. 00:09:52.09\00:09:56.22 So, yeah, we walk, we go for digestive walks 00:09:56.26\00:10:01.10 so that your digestive system can digest the food 00:10:01.13\00:10:06.23 that you just ate. 00:10:06.27\00:10:08.64 So you were paying attention during these lectures. 00:10:08.67\00:10:12.07 Maybe a little bit. 00:10:12.11\00:10:13.98 Now, you didn't look like you needed to lose any weight, 00:10:14.01\00:10:17.25 but did you lose some weight while you're here? 00:10:17.28\00:10:19.31 I've lost 4.5 pounds since I've been here. 00:10:19.35\00:10:21.68 And how about inches? 00:10:21.72\00:10:24.49 Yes, she just showed me that today I lost 0.5 00:10:24.52\00:10:29.59 around my arms, 00:10:29.62\00:10:31.76 lost one around my waist, 00:10:31.79\00:10:35.86 1 inch, and 1.5 around my hips. 00:10:35.90\00:10:40.44 Was that necessary did you think? 00:10:40.47\00:10:43.81 I didn't really have to lose any weight, 00:10:43.84\00:10:46.11 but I really did want to lose five more pounds 00:10:46.14\00:10:49.88 is what I wanted to lose so I'm only shy of 0.5. 00:10:49.91\00:10:51.25 You wanted to get firm. 00:10:51.28\00:10:53.31 Okay, but you wanted to firm up a little bit because you're, 00:10:53.35\00:10:56.48 I could see the difference, you look stronger. 00:10:56.52\00:10:57.85 Well, I need to firm up. 00:10:57.89\00:11:00.76 Yes, we all do, don't we? 00:11:00.79\00:11:02.12 Yeah, I need to firm up. As they should be. 00:13:51.39\00:13:54.53 Is there a cure? 00:13:54.56\00:13:55.90 Is there somewhere we can go and get radiation 00:13:55.93\00:14:00.17 and this that and at the end all of a sudden it's gone. 00:14:00.20\00:14:03.61 Well, you know what, I say two things to you. 00:14:03.64\00:14:06.17 The old English saying it says an ounce of prevention 00:14:06.21\00:14:10.41 is worth a pound of cure. 00:14:10.45\00:14:12.75 So glad you said that. I think that goes a long way. 00:14:12.78\00:14:14.82 Right. 00:14:14.85\00:14:16.18 But here's what I would say to you about cancer. 00:14:16.22\00:14:19.75 One in every three people get cancer. 00:14:19.79\00:14:23.29 Wow! 00:14:23.32\00:14:24.66 And one in every six die from it. 00:14:24.69\00:14:28.76 Cancer is something that is growing and increasing. 00:14:28.80\00:14:33.70 And there's an article in Newsweek 00:14:33.74\00:14:35.67 from 1998 that says, 00:14:35.70\00:14:39.21 "What we know about cancer today," 1998, 00:14:39.24\00:14:43.18 "We could decrease the rate of cancer 00:14:43.21\00:14:45.65 if we would just change our lifestyle, 00:14:45.68\00:14:47.18 if we would be more on a plant-based diet." 00:14:47.22\00:14:50.55 Nineteen ninety eight. Nineteen ninety eight. 00:14:50.59\00:14:52.75 Cancer rates have not decreased in those last 18 years, 00:14:52.79\00:14:57.36 it continued to go up. 00:14:57.39\00:14:59.09 So we haven't implemented what we knew. 00:14:59.13\00:15:00.93 And they were looking at 4,500 research articles. 00:15:00.96\00:15:06.13 So I think there is a cure for cancer, 00:15:06.17\00:15:09.84 and I think it's by lifestyle, 00:15:09.87\00:15:12.54 I think if you have a large tumor, 00:15:12.57\00:15:14.31 you may need to debulk it, 00:15:14.34\00:15:16.71 but you can't treat cancer and continue to live your life 00:15:16.75\00:15:21.22 the way you did before you got cancer, 00:15:21.25\00:15:23.79 and hope that it's not going to come back. 00:15:23.82\00:15:25.85 How would you decrease the size of it? 00:15:25.89\00:15:28.46 I think you may have to do surgery, 00:15:28.49\00:15:29.82 that's what I mean by debulking. 00:15:29.86\00:15:31.63 If you've got a large enough tumor, 00:15:31.66\00:15:33.60 you may have to make it smaller, 00:15:33.63\00:15:36.00 but once you do that I believe by God's grace 00:15:36.03\00:15:38.27 there are some natural things 00:15:38.30\00:15:39.63 we can do to help boost your immunity 00:15:39.67\00:15:42.47 to prevent you from continuing to have cancer. 00:15:42.50\00:15:45.71 So what's the difference, 00:15:45.74\00:15:48.01 if you have a large tumor like this 00:15:48.04\00:15:51.61 and a small tumor like that? 00:15:51.65\00:15:54.85 It's a ratio type of thing. 00:15:54.88\00:15:57.89 Your immune system has a certain number of cells. 00:15:57.92\00:16:01.06 If you have a smaller space that you need to attack, 00:16:01.09\00:16:05.83 it's easier than if you have a larger space. 00:16:05.86\00:16:08.13 I got you. 00:16:08.16\00:16:09.50 And depending on the types of cancers, 00:16:09.53\00:16:11.00 cancers grow at different rates. 00:16:11.03\00:16:12.77 So some cancers may be growing more quickly than others. 00:16:12.80\00:16:15.77 If you disrupt that, 00:16:15.80\00:16:18.14 then that may give your immune system a chance 00:16:18.17\00:16:20.08 to catch up and do its job. 00:16:20.11\00:16:22.54 But you've got to put your body in the right condition for it 00:16:22.58\00:16:27.65 to be able to work with cancer and to overcome cancer. 00:16:27.68\00:16:32.39 Now would you say that what we do 00:16:32.42\00:16:35.66 at the NEWSTART program 00:16:35.69\00:16:37.89 is the best treatment 00:16:37.93\00:16:39.26 for people with cancer like Kath? 00:16:39.29\00:16:43.87 People ask me this all the time. 00:16:43.90\00:16:45.50 In fact, a few people 00:16:45.53\00:16:46.87 who I get their name from you ask me this. 00:16:46.90\00:16:49.40 Right. 00:16:49.44\00:16:50.77 Here's what I say, 00:16:50.81\00:16:52.61 we don't formally say 00:16:52.64\00:16:54.28 that we are a cancer treatment program, 00:16:54.31\00:16:57.68 but I will say this to people. 00:16:57.71\00:17:00.35 I believe with all my heart the things we are doing 00:17:00.38\00:17:03.99 puts your body in the best condition. 00:17:04.02\00:17:07.46 And if you put your body in the best condition, 00:17:07.49\00:17:09.32 your immune system is going to be optimized. 00:17:09.36\00:17:12.69 And that can help you to overcome cancer. 00:17:12.73\00:17:17.17 But you've got to do things differently 00:17:17.20\00:17:19.83 than you did before. 00:17:19.87\00:17:21.20 So you can't eat those pork ribs 00:17:21.24\00:17:23.47 and things like that? 00:17:23.51\00:17:26.98 Eighty percent of the cancers 00:17:27.01\00:17:28.34 that we see in this country today 00:17:28.38\00:17:31.51 can be prevented 00:17:31.55\00:17:33.21 by four simple lifestyle changes. 00:17:33.25\00:17:37.95 Okay, write this down, folks. Write this down. 00:17:37.99\00:17:39.99 Here they are. Here they are. 00:17:40.02\00:17:41.49 First one is a plant-based diet. 00:17:41.52\00:17:43.36 Plant-based, meaning anything that grows in the ground. 00:17:43.39\00:17:46.36 Correct. Kath had breast cancer. 00:20:42.17\00:20:46.37 Had to have bilateral mastectomies, 00:20:46.41\00:20:49.78 and after the surgery she noticed 00:20:49.81\00:20:51.91 that she had two lumps on each side of her chest. 00:20:51.95\00:20:56.65 She shared that with us. Yeah. 00:20:56.69\00:20:59.19 Today, she told me that on the right side 00:20:59.22\00:21:02.39 those lumps have gone, 00:21:02.42\00:21:04.19 and on the left side they're getting smaller 00:21:04.23\00:21:07.20 so what have we done to help Kath. 00:21:07.23\00:21:09.33 Well, what we have done is this. 00:21:09.36\00:21:11.53 We've placed her on a plant-based diet. 00:21:11.57\00:21:13.50 We've increased her exercise. 00:21:13.54\00:21:15.27 We've changed her lifestyle, 00:21:15.30\00:21:16.87 and we've done some fever treatments for her. 00:21:16.91\00:21:19.61 Fever treatments are brutal. They can be brutal. 00:21:19.64\00:21:22.71 Absolutely. 00:21:22.74\00:21:24.08 And for our guests at home, 00:21:24.11\00:21:25.45 just so you understand what that means. 00:21:25.48\00:21:26.82 We put you in a hot bath and keep your head cool, 00:21:26.85\00:21:29.45 put a cool rag, and cool water on your head, 00:21:29.48\00:21:31.85 but we put you in a hot bath 00:21:31.89\00:21:33.22 and actually raise your body temperature 00:21:33.25\00:21:35.39 as if you have a fever. 00:21:35.42\00:21:38.56 And why do we get fevers when we get sick 00:21:38.59\00:21:41.16 because it helps our immune system 00:21:41.20\00:21:42.93 to fight what we're fighting. 00:21:42.96\00:21:45.03 And so by giving her a fever bath, 00:21:45.07\00:21:46.94 it's helping her immune system 00:21:46.97\00:21:48.30 to fight the cancer that she has. 00:21:48.34\00:21:52.61 Well, doc, we ran out of time. 00:21:52.64\00:21:55.04 I want to thank you again for coming. 00:21:55.08\00:21:57.68 It's always a pleasure to have you here. 00:21:57.71\00:21:59.05 Good to be with you, Ron. 00:21:59.08\00:22:00.42 And, friends, thank you, but don't go away 00:22:00.45\00:22:02.58 we have an important tip for you. 00:22:02.62\00:22:07.42 Four of our biggest diseases and our biggest killers 00:22:07.46\00:22:10.59 are the so-called lifestyle diseases, 00:22:10.63\00:22:12.89 obesity, heart disease, 00:22:12.93\00:22:14.36 high blood pressure, and type 2 diabetes. 00:22:14.40\00:22:17.20 For years doctors recognized 00:22:17.23\00:22:18.77 that these diseases share many risk factors 00:22:18.80\00:22:21.30 and even causes. 00:22:21.34\00:22:22.87 Some even began to suspect that these diseases were, 00:22:22.90\00:22:25.37 in fact, symptoms 00:22:25.41\00:22:26.74 of a larger problem or syndrome. 00:22:26.78\00:22:29.34 In 1988 Gerald Reaven a researcher 00:22:29.38\00:22:31.75 at Stanford University suggested 00:22:31.78\00:22:33.88 that these lifestyle diseases 00:22:33.92\00:22:35.32 were actually various manifestations 00:22:35.35\00:22:37.39 of what he called syndrome X. 00:22:37.42\00:22:39.89 He attributed everything to a root cause, 00:22:39.92\00:22:42.02 elevated blood insulin levels, and insulin resistance. 00:22:42.06\00:22:45.89 His theories have since been well studied 00:22:45.93\00:22:48.06 in medical literature. 00:22:48.10\00:22:49.86 Today syndrome X is known as metabolic syndrome. 00:22:49.90\00:22:54.20 Metabolic syndrome is actually a compilation of risk factors 00:22:54.24\00:22:57.84 that have an underlying denominator insulin resistance. 00:22:57.87\00:23:00.94 What is insulin resistance? 00:23:00.98\00:23:02.58 Insulin is typically used to get glucose 00:23:02.61\00:23:04.78 from the bloodstream into the tissues. 00:23:04.81\00:23:07.52 If someone has insulin resistance, 00:23:07.55\00:23:09.68 the pancreas has to work harder to actually get the glucose 00:23:09.72\00:23:14.49 into the tissues via the insulin. 00:23:14.52\00:23:16.89 As a result it cranks out higher 00:23:16.93\00:23:18.93 and higher levels of insulin to do the job. 00:23:18.96\00:23:21.23 The excess insulin, and the excess blood glucose 00:23:21.26\00:23:24.57 actually both wreak havoc in the body. 00:23:24.60\00:23:26.94 And the process is then termed as metabolic syndrome. 00:23:26.97\00:23:30.54 Five criteria for metabolic syndrome 00:23:30.57\00:23:32.31 include number one, 00:23:32.34\00:23:34.28 a fasting blood sugar greater than 99. 00:23:34.31\00:23:37.61 Number two, an HDL less than 40 in a male 00:23:37.65\00:23:41.12 or less than 50 in a female. 00:23:41.15\00:23:43.85 We're at number three, 00:23:43.89\00:23:45.22 a waist circumference greater than 40 inches 00:23:45.25\00:23:47.59 in a male or greater than 35 inches in a female. 00:23:47.62\00:23:51.36 Number four, triglycerides greater than 150 00:23:51.39\00:23:55.43 or taking medication to lower triglycerides. 00:23:55.46\00:23:59.27 Number five, a systolic blood pressure 00:23:59.30\00:24:01.17 greater than 130 00:24:01.20\00:24:02.97 or a diastolic blood pressure greater than 85. 00:24:03.00\00:24:06.04 What is significant about this is that most people 00:24:06.07\00:24:08.18 do not start medication are not told 00:24:08.21\00:24:10.05 that they have problems with hypertension, 00:24:10.08\00:24:12.08 until their blood pressure is greater than 140 over 90. 00:24:12.11\00:24:16.45 Criteria also include taking medications 00:24:16.48\00:24:18.79 for the blood pressure 00:24:18.82\00:24:20.16 even if your blood pressure is lower on the medication. 00:24:20.19\00:24:23.22 Although metabolic syndrome continues to spread, 00:24:23.26\00:24:25.96 we have the knowledge to stop it. 00:24:25.99\00:24:28.06 And it boils down to this, 00:24:28.10\00:24:29.83 too much input and not enough output. 00:24:29.86\00:24:32.93 More time at the table, 00:24:32.97\00:24:34.30 than time with your walking shoes on. 00:24:34.34\00:24:36.57 Not only the amount of food we're eating, 00:24:36.60\00:24:38.47 but the type of food 00:24:38.51\00:24:39.84 we're choosing to eat is harming us. 00:24:39.87\00:24:41.51 Along with reducing quantity, 00:24:41.54\00:24:43.45 we need to focus on the quality of our calories. 00:24:43.48\00:24:46.28 Additionally, we find that caloric restriction 00:24:46.31\00:24:49.45 significantly helps to reverse 00:24:49.48\00:24:52.59 this process of insulin resistance. 00:24:52.62\00:24:55.02 Oftentimes we'll think that caloric restriction 00:24:55.06\00:24:57.16 just means not eating a lot of food. 00:24:57.19\00:24:59.63 Caloric restriction simply means eating good food 00:24:59.66\00:25:03.30 that's not dense. 00:25:03.33\00:25:04.70 This means eating high fiber low fat foods 00:25:04.73\00:25:08.47 that are not significantly processed. 00:25:08.50\00:25:10.54 And processed, nutrient dense food, 00:25:10.57\00:25:12.91 low in fat and sugar, 00:25:12.94\00:25:14.34 but high in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and fiber. 00:25:14.38\00:25:17.85 It doesn't have to be boring or tasteless. 00:25:17.88\00:25:20.45 Not only can these types of foods be delicious, 00:25:20.48\00:25:23.18 but they'll satisfy you longer, and you'll feel full sooner, 00:25:23.22\00:25:27.19 meaning, you'll eat less as a result. 00:25:27.22\00:25:30.33 Vegan and vegetarian diets have been shown 00:25:30.36\00:25:32.69 to reduce the risk of metabolic syndrome 00:25:32.73\00:25:34.76 because they place a strong focus on plant foods. 00:25:34.80\00:25:38.87 In contrast research has repeatedly shown 00:25:38.90\00:25:41.10 that the consumption of animal products increases 00:25:41.14\00:25:43.54 the risk of many diseases, including metabolic syndrome. 00:25:43.57\00:25:47.71 Fruits, vegetables, 00:25:47.74\00:25:49.24 whole grains, legumes, and nuts, 00:25:49.28\00:25:51.11 they're the fuels 00:25:51.15\00:25:52.48 that our bodies were designed to use. 00:25:52.51\00:25:54.72 Is it any wonder that they all reduce 00:25:54.75\00:25:56.65 the risk of metabolic syndrome?
