No, we didn't. 00:07:40.69\00:07:43.39 Well, the scrambled tofu I like to do, 00:07:43.43\00:07:46.13 like the scramble eggs, 00:07:46.16\00:07:47.73 but then if you toss some potatoes 00:07:47.76\00:07:51.40 and brown them, you know, 00:07:51.43\00:07:53.07 I love them together, just excellent. 00:07:53.10\00:07:56.04 So you're walking, 00:07:56.07\00:07:58.91 I understand your first visit to the medical center, 00:07:58.94\00:08:04.15 which is about 75 to 100 yards away, 00:08:04.18\00:08:08.12 I understand that you're huffing and puffing 00:08:08.15\00:08:11.05 by the time you got down there. 00:08:11.09\00:08:12.72 Oh, yeah. 00:08:12.75\00:08:14.09 How much walking are you currently doing? 00:08:14.12\00:08:16.89 Miles wise I'd say, 00:08:16.93\00:08:19.19 probably three miles a day without... 00:08:19.23\00:08:23.16 Three miles a day? Yeah. 00:08:23.20\00:08:24.80 And you, before you got here, you didn't walk three blocks. 00:08:24.83\00:08:28.40 Right. 00:08:28.44\00:08:29.77 A day? You got that. 00:08:29.80\00:08:31.14 Right? Yeah. 00:08:31.17\00:08:32.51 I thought cars were designed 00:08:32.54\00:08:33.88 to take you to the store a block away. 00:08:33.91\00:08:36.08 If I had to go to the store, I jumped in the car, 00:08:36.11\00:08:39.18 and I drove even if it was a block away. 00:08:39.21\00:08:42.05 You were the same way? Yeah. 00:08:42.08\00:08:43.62 Ain't that crazy? 00:08:43.65\00:08:46.29 We're creatures of habit, and of course, 00:08:46.32\00:08:49.36 now you're learning some new habits. 00:08:49.39\00:08:52.43 So did the program meet your expectations? 00:08:52.46\00:08:56.06 Oh, yes. Yes. 00:08:56.10\00:08:57.63 Did it go beyond? Oh, yes, it did. 00:08:57.67\00:09:00.50 I was hoping you'd say that. 00:09:00.54\00:09:01.87 I never would imagine lose that much weight 00:09:01.90\00:09:05.14 in so few days. 00:09:05.17\00:09:07.08 I've been on many diets myself at home, 00:09:07.11\00:09:09.58 and I know how long it takes to lose some pounds. 00:09:09.61\00:09:11.91 Yes. Yeah. 00:09:11.95\00:09:13.75 You know, but I want the viewers to know 00:09:13.78\00:09:15.72 this isn't a diet. 00:09:15.75\00:09:17.39 I know, it's a lifestyle. It's a lifestyle. 00:09:17.42\00:09:20.36 And although you lost weight, 00:09:20.39\00:09:23.39 what I think is equally important 00:09:23.43\00:09:26.70 is you're off all these medications, 00:09:26.73\00:09:29.46 you can breathe now without assistance, 00:09:29.50\00:09:32.67 your heart is getting stronger, 00:09:32.70\00:09:34.87 you're pumping more oxygen through your blood. 00:09:34.90\00:09:38.37 All these things, drinking the water, 00:09:38.41\00:09:40.74 all these simple things are giving you a future. 00:09:40.78\00:09:46.48 And I could see the difference between 00:09:46.51\00:09:48.98 when you first arrived and how you're looking now. 00:09:49.02\00:09:52.82 So what would you say to the viewers 00:09:52.85\00:09:57.09 that are watching right now 00:09:57.13\00:09:58.96 that have cardiovascular disease, 00:09:58.99\00:10:01.40 diabetes or host of other lifestyle diseases? 00:10:01.43\00:10:05.57 What would you say to them? 00:10:05.60\00:10:08.40 To start the fresh start. 00:10:08.44\00:10:11.51 Start the fresh start? I'm a widower. 00:10:29.46\00:10:31.19 So it won't be any difficulty, but do you have relatives 00:10:31.23\00:10:35.16 that you're frequent with? 00:10:35.20\00:10:37.07 Here and there, yeah, occasionally. 00:10:37.10\00:10:39.17 And friends that are going to look at you, and say, 00:10:39.20\00:10:41.64 "What have you done?" 00:10:41.67\00:10:43.00 Yeah, but they're not vegan though. 00:10:43.04\00:10:44.97 They won't go vegan. 00:10:45.01\00:10:46.34 No, well, I once said that about my friends, 00:10:46.37\00:10:50.28 but once they came over and ate what we had to prepare, 00:10:50.31\00:10:53.65 they're all like, "Wow, I can do this." 00:10:53.68\00:10:57.29 Ron, I want to thank you for taking your time 00:10:57.32\00:11:00.66 to come into the studio, and meet with us, 00:11:00.69\00:11:03.69 and share with the world what you've done. 00:11:03.73\00:11:08.26 And we're going to be in touch with you. 00:11:08.30\00:11:10.50 I'm going to be contacting you via email. 00:11:10.53\00:11:13.74 And I just thank God for your positive results. 00:11:13.77\00:11:18.57 And thank you for being here. Good to see you. 00:13:38.35\00:13:39.95 Always good to see you. 00:13:39.98\00:13:41.75 I want to talk about, Ron, 00:13:41.78\00:13:43.62 get right into this interview with. 00:13:43.65\00:13:45.62 You know, you told me story 00:13:45.65\00:13:47.72 about his first trip to the clinic. 00:13:47.76\00:13:51.89 Which from the lobby where they are housed, 00:13:51.93\00:13:55.30 they meaning our guest, 00:13:55.33\00:13:57.70 to the clinic is 75 to 100 yards. 00:13:57.73\00:14:00.77 Not very far. Not very far. 00:14:00.80\00:14:02.47 Tell us about that if you would. 00:14:02.50\00:14:04.07 So Ron came to us, his first appointment with me. 00:14:04.11\00:14:06.34 And when he came in, his lips were blue, 00:14:06.37\00:14:11.21 he was breathing hard, 00:14:11.25\00:14:13.35 and he had his oxygen concentrator on. 00:14:13.38\00:14:15.92 Now why were his lips blue? He was craving for oxygen? 00:14:15.95\00:14:19.25 Yeah, he didn't have enough oxygen in his blood. 00:14:19.29\00:14:21.26 Okay. 00:14:21.29\00:14:22.62 And so going that short distance, 00:14:22.66\00:14:24.03 and most of it is downhill. 00:14:24.06\00:14:26.63 It got him really winded and short of breath. 00:14:26.66\00:14:29.73 Ain't that amazing? Yeah. 00:14:29.76\00:14:32.03 And then how did he do on the treadmill? 00:14:32.07\00:14:35.34 So the next day, we do an exercise stress test, 00:14:35.37\00:14:37.94 treadmill test on him, and he didn't go very long, 00:14:37.97\00:14:42.71 little bit over a minute, and he again, 00:14:42.74\00:14:46.18 was very short of breath. 00:14:46.21\00:14:47.72 We had to stop it, sit him down, 00:14:47.75\00:14:49.45 and put his concentrator back on 00:14:49.48\00:14:51.72 so he could get oxygen 'cause again his lips 00:14:51.75\00:14:53.66 were a little bit blue. 00:14:53.69\00:14:55.02 Wow. 00:14:55.06\00:14:56.39 So I assume now 00:14:56.42\00:15:00.80 that he's gotten better 'cause I've seen him 00:15:00.83\00:15:02.36 out there walking. 00:15:02.40\00:15:04.07 Tell us more. 00:15:04.10\00:15:05.43 Yeah, you know, it wasn't but a few more days after that, 00:15:05.47\00:15:09.04 and part of this maybe related to... 00:15:09.07\00:15:11.27 he comes from an area where it's a lower elevation. 00:15:11.31\00:15:14.18 Here at Weimar, we're about 2200 feet. 00:15:14.21\00:15:18.08 And so it's a little higher elevation 00:15:18.11\00:15:19.45 so the air is a little bit thinner. 00:15:19.48\00:15:21.28 But it wasn't but a few more days after that, 00:15:21.32\00:15:24.35 that he came to me and said, "Look, 00:15:24.39\00:15:25.72 I'm able to walk without my oxygen." 00:15:25.75\00:15:27.09 Oh, without the oxygen. 00:15:27.12\00:15:28.79 And we just did another exercise stress test, 00:15:28.82\00:15:32.16 treadmill test yesterday. 00:15:32.19\00:15:34.40 After he's been here 16 days? 00:15:34.43\00:15:35.80 After he's been there for 16 days. 00:15:35.83\00:15:37.27 Okay. 00:15:37.30\00:15:38.63 He went more than twice the time 00:15:38.67\00:15:40.14 that he did on the first one. 00:15:40.17\00:15:42.14 He didn't turn blue, and he didn't need his oxygen. 00:15:42.17\00:15:45.57 Isn't that awesome? Praise the Lord. 00:15:45.61\00:15:47.74 How's his weight? 00:15:47.78\00:15:49.11 He mentioned in the interview his weight, 00:15:49.14\00:15:50.81 but how's he done on that? 00:15:50.85\00:15:52.78 You know, Ron is a chef, retired chef, 00:15:52.81\00:15:57.39 and he likes to cook. 00:15:57.42\00:15:59.22 And when you like to cook, 00:15:59.25\00:16:00.96 you got to sample the food, right? 00:16:00.99\00:16:03.66 So he did have a little bit of weight problem, 00:16:03.69\00:16:05.66 he does have a weight problem, 00:16:05.69\00:16:07.36 and he's lost weight since he's been here. 00:16:07.40\00:16:10.53 He's lost about 15 pounds. 00:16:10.57\00:16:13.03 And so that's not bad for 18 days. 00:16:13.07\00:16:16.17 Not bad. No. Yeah. 00:16:16.20\00:16:17.64 You don't want to lose weight too quickly. 00:16:17.67\00:16:20.11 'Cause what I find is when patients get on 00:16:20.14\00:16:22.31 some of these diets that are a little bit extreme, 00:16:22.34\00:16:27.15 they tend to lose weight quickly, 00:16:27.18\00:16:28.68 but often, it'll rebound and come back. 00:16:28.72\00:16:31.15 I'd rather see a patient lose weight slowly. 00:16:31.19\00:16:34.09 And keep it off. 00:16:34.12\00:16:35.69 Rather than have it bounce back. 00:16:35.72\00:16:37.36 Now what about his numbers as far as the... 00:16:37.39\00:16:40.70 when we do the blood draws, we do two, as you know. 00:16:40.73\00:16:44.73 Tell our viewers about his cholesterol 00:16:44.77\00:16:48.47 or triglycerides, etcetera. 00:16:48.50\00:16:50.84 He, when he came here he was on medicine 00:16:50.87\00:16:53.68 for cholesterol and triglycerides. 00:16:53.71\00:16:56.01 And so we took him off of that medicine carefully, 00:16:56.04\00:17:00.22 and since he's been off, it's common for your numbers 00:17:00.25\00:17:04.82 to go up a little bit. 00:17:04.85\00:17:06.35 Yeah, because they were suppressed... 00:17:06.39\00:17:07.92 Suppressed by the medicine. By the medicine. 00:17:07.96\00:17:09.29 Yeah. Exactly. 00:17:09.32\00:17:10.66 So his numbers have gone up a little bit. 00:17:10.69\00:17:12.29 But I see that he is starting 00:17:12.33\00:17:15.16 to trend in the right direction. 00:17:15.20\00:17:17.27 Again, it's only been little over two weeks. 00:17:17.30\00:17:19.53 Right. 00:17:19.57\00:17:20.90 But I really believe that he's going to do well, 00:17:20.94\00:17:24.34 his numbers are going to continue to come down, 00:17:24.37\00:17:26.57 he is been exercising, and he is able to exercise 00:17:26.61\00:17:29.91 more now than when he first came. 00:17:29.94\00:17:31.98 And he goes between walking, 00:17:32.01\00:17:34.22 and also he uses a stationary bike, 00:17:34.25\00:17:37.85 and he's actually even told me 00:17:37.89\00:17:39.22 he did a little bit of strength training. 00:17:39.25\00:17:40.82 Wow. 00:17:40.86\00:17:42.39 This is probably a first for him then. 00:17:42.42\00:17:44.89 At least in a long time. 00:17:44.93\00:17:46.26 In a long time. Yes. 00:17:46.29\00:17:48.96 Now what about the heart disease 00:17:49.00\00:17:50.97 and the diabetes? 00:17:51.00\00:17:52.53 Is the diabetes still there? 00:17:52.57\00:17:55.90 Did it go away? 00:17:55.94\00:17:57.54 Is he on his medications for that? 00:17:57.57\00:17:59.84 His diabetes is improving. 00:17:59.87\00:18:02.18 It's not gone away. 00:18:02.21\00:18:03.98 But I believe, by God's grace, that it will go away. 00:18:04.01\00:18:07.92 And his medications, we have decreased 00:18:07.95\00:18:09.98 his medication significantly. 00:18:10.02\00:18:12.15 Well, which is a sign that... 00:18:12.19\00:18:13.86 That things are getting better, and he is feeling better. 00:18:13.89\00:18:17.66 I'm going to ask you a question that only a layman can ask. 00:18:17.69\00:18:22.90 When you're a diabetic, I like in it 00:18:22.93\00:18:25.93 to be an alcoholic. 00:18:25.97\00:18:27.50 Okay. 00:18:27.54\00:18:28.87 An alcoholic stops drinking, he's no longer drinking alcohol 00:18:28.90\00:18:32.61 but he's still an alcoholic. 00:18:32.64\00:18:34.88 Is the same true for a diabetic? 00:18:34.91\00:18:37.98 It's a good question. 00:18:38.01\00:18:39.88 I think initially, the same is true. 00:18:39.91\00:18:41.58 I think you're still a diabetic. 00:18:41.62\00:18:43.69 But over time, given time, I believe that 00:18:43.72\00:18:46.22 we can reverse the diabetes. 00:18:46.25\00:18:48.22 Yes. 00:18:48.26\00:18:49.59 And I believe that we can take away that label 00:18:49.62\00:18:52.33 of saying that you're still a diabetic. 00:18:52.36\00:18:54.46 And that would be me, 11 years, 11 years. 00:18:54.50\00:18:58.37 But here's the key. 00:18:58.40\00:19:00.10 Whatever you had to do, you had to stay on the plan. 00:19:00.14\00:19:03.87 That's right. 00:19:03.91\00:19:05.24 Here's what I tell our diabetics. 00:19:05.27\00:19:06.61 I tell them that, 00:19:06.64\00:19:07.98 "If we take you off your diabetes medicine, 00:19:08.01\00:19:10.25 we have to replace it with a different medicine." 00:19:10.28\00:19:13.42 And that new medicine that I put them on is walking. 00:19:13.45\00:19:17.75 Walking for one hour a day for a diabetic 00:19:17.79\00:19:21.99 is equivalent to five units of insulin. 00:19:22.02\00:19:24.29 Wow. 00:19:24.33\00:19:25.93 So I tell them, they need to walk at least an hour a day. 00:19:25.96\00:19:28.50 What about the food? 00:19:28.53\00:19:29.86 Food plays a big role too. The food that we... 00:19:29.90\00:19:32.30 So you really have, you can't... 00:19:32.33\00:19:36.27 Let me ask that rather than say what it can do. 00:19:36.30\00:19:39.17 Can I walk an hour a day, 00:19:39.21\00:19:43.61 and go back eating meat, and chicken, and fish, 00:19:43.65\00:19:46.88 and olive oil, and all that stuff. 00:19:46.92\00:19:50.59 No, because here's what happens. 00:19:50.62\00:19:52.29 When you're on poor diet, 00:19:52.32\00:19:54.92 you can't exercise the poorness of the diet away. 00:19:54.96\00:19:58.73 Okay. All right? 00:19:58.76\00:20:00.53 So then you got to double... 00:20:00.56\00:20:02.56 You've got to double whammy, so you really have 00:20:02.60\00:20:04.60 to change your lifestyle. 00:20:04.63\00:20:06.33 And when you change your lifestyle, 00:20:06.37\00:20:08.50 your body starts to heal and repair itself. 00:20:08.54\00:20:11.27 That's the way God created us. Ain't that marvelous? 00:20:11.31\00:20:13.38 The other thing I told the diabetics, 00:20:13.41\00:20:14.74 it's really important is they have to make sure 00:20:14.78\00:20:17.21 and stay well hydrated. 00:20:17.25\00:20:20.15 A lot of people come to us 00:20:20.18\00:20:21.75 and they are chronically dehydrated. 00:20:21.78\00:20:24.45 I know I used to be chronically dehydrated. 00:20:24.49\00:20:26.89 Ain't that amazing how we could be that way... 00:20:26.92\00:20:28.86 Yeah, that's right. And not even know it. 00:20:28.89\00:20:30.89 It's not until you find out what it's like to be hydrated 00:20:30.93\00:20:34.30 that you realize how bad it was when you weren't hydrated, 00:20:34.33\00:20:37.30 you know. 00:20:37.33\00:20:38.67 But when diabetics, for example, 00:20:38.70\00:20:40.97 or people with high blood pressure 00:20:41.00\00:20:42.40 drink extra fluid, 00:20:42.44\00:20:44.97 it helps to dilute their blood sugar. 00:20:45.01\00:20:48.41 It makes it easier for their body 00:20:48.44\00:20:50.45 to start to deal with an elevated blood sugar. 00:20:50.48\00:20:52.55 Makes sense. It makes... 00:20:52.58\00:20:54.38 When they drink more water, it thins their blood, 00:20:54.42\00:20:57.29 makes it easier for their heart to pump the blood 00:20:57.32\00:21:02.42 because it's not as thick, the viscosity has changed. 00:21:02.46\00:21:06.39 And when that happens, the blood pressure 00:21:06.43\00:21:08.06 will start to come down. 00:21:08.10\00:21:09.43 You're making me thirsty. That's right. 00:21:09.46\00:21:11.93 But I have my bottle over there, 00:21:11.97\00:21:13.30 and I'll wait till after... 00:21:13.34\00:21:14.67 That's perfect. The program is over. 00:21:14.70\00:21:16.34 Perfect. 00:21:16.37\00:21:18.01 Any further info about Ron 00:21:18.04\00:21:21.58 that you can give us in the next 30 seconds. 00:21:21.61\00:21:24.85 Sure. 00:21:24.88\00:21:26.21 Ron also used to take arthritis shots. 00:21:26.25\00:21:28.82 Shots? 00:21:28.85\00:21:30.19 Yeah, shots of medicine to help him with his arthritis. 00:21:30.22\00:21:32.75 Wow. 00:21:32.79\00:21:34.12 Since he is been here, he says his arthritis is a lot better. 00:21:34.16\00:21:37.53 In fact, it's not bothering him right now. 00:21:37.56\00:21:39.83 So I've told him, let's not do the shots right now. 00:21:39.86\00:21:42.60 Let's continue doing the lifestyle 00:21:42.63\00:21:44.77 and see how your body responds to that. 00:21:44.80\00:21:47.30 Wow. 00:21:47.34\00:21:48.67 I believe and I've prayed about this with him. 00:21:48.70\00:21:50.27 I believe that by God's grace, 00:21:50.31\00:21:52.37 he will not need those shots anymore. 00:21:52.41\00:21:55.01 That is awesome. 00:21:55.04\00:21:56.88 Doc, I want to thank you again. Ron, thank you. 00:21:56.91\00:21:59.81 And Ron, as your name sake too. That's right. 00:21:59.85\00:22:03.32 Two Rons, don't make it right, one has a go. 00:22:03.35\00:22:06.02 Thank you. 00:22:06.05\00:22:07.66 And, friends, don't go away, 00:22:07.69\00:22:09.29 we have an important tip for you. 00:22:09.32\00:22:11.36 Welcome to Ask The Doctor. 00:22:17.83\00:22:19.40 I'm Dr. David DeRose, taking your questions again 00:22:19.43\00:22:22.37 on today's edition of the program. 00:22:22.40\00:22:24.44 We're going to a question from Canada. 00:22:24.47\00:22:26.78 Danny asks from Winnipeg, 00:22:26.81\00:22:29.18 this very relevant and practical question. 00:22:29.21\00:22:32.41 "Is juicing fruits and vegetables 00:22:32.45\00:22:35.05 an effective way to get my 5 servings 00:22:35.08\00:22:38.09 of fruits and vegetables per day?" 00:22:38.12\00:22:41.02 Well, first of all, Danny, let me commend you, 00:22:41.06\00:22:42.79 you've got that message that public health professionals 00:22:42.82\00:22:45.96 have been trying to get out for many years, and that is, 00:22:45.99\00:22:48.16 we need to be getting a minimum of five servings 00:22:48.20\00:22:50.57 of fruits and vegetables a day. 00:22:50.60\00:22:51.93 Many are pushing that number up to 9 or more. 00:22:51.97\00:22:54.64 But your perplexity is exactly where many people are at, 00:22:54.67\00:22:58.41 and they're simply saying, "How can I get all this in? 00:22:58.44\00:23:00.94 Should I just start juicing?" 00:23:00.98\00:23:02.31 I know it's become very popular. 00:23:02.34\00:23:03.91 But let me tell you, 00:23:03.95\00:23:05.28 many of the patients that I see in my clinic, 00:23:05.31\00:23:07.15 their problem is not so much what they're eating 00:23:07.18\00:23:11.15 as how much they're eating in total calories. 00:23:11.19\00:23:14.49 When it comes to juices, there's an intrinsic problem. 00:23:14.52\00:23:17.69 If we're eating our plant foods or any foods as a whole food, 00:23:17.73\00:23:22.00 as we're chewing that food, we're getting 00:23:22.03\00:23:23.60 a lot more satiety, a lot more satisfaction 00:23:23.63\00:23:26.07 from the food than if we reduce it to, 00:23:26.10\00:23:28.47 let's say a pureed state or even a juice state. 00:23:28.50\00:23:33.61 Let me give you some insight into this. 00:23:33.64\00:23:35.48 Classic study was done many years ago. 00:23:35.51\00:23:37.61 They took apples, had volunteers in this study, 00:23:37.65\00:23:41.25 eat the same number of calories as whole apples, 00:23:41.28\00:23:44.02 then compare it to apple sauce or apple puree, 00:23:44.05\00:23:47.19 and then compare that to apple juice. 00:23:47.22\00:23:49.66 What they found is those who ate the whole apples 00:23:49.69\00:23:51.73 for a given number of calories, those whole apples give them 00:23:51.76\00:23:54.53 much more satisfaction, and helped them much longer 00:23:54.56\00:23:57.83 before they wanted to eat again as compared to the apple sauce. 00:23:57.87\00:24:01.27 What do you think feared the worst? 00:24:01.30\00:24:03.14 Yes, the apple juice. 00:24:03.17\00:24:05.17 Bottom line, the more juices you eat, 00:24:05.21\00:24:06.98 you'll tend to take in more calories 00:24:07.01\00:24:09.18 which will often make it more difficult for you 00:24:09.21\00:24:11.51 to trim down if you're carrying some extra pounds. 00:24:11.55\00:24:13.62 Said another way, if you're an athlete, 00:24:13.65\00:24:15.68 you're doing a lot of exercise, 00:24:15.72\00:24:17.19 you're on a vigorous training program, 00:24:17.22\00:24:19.35 juice actually could be added to your program. 00:24:19.39\00:24:22.02 Sometimes they have people take it 00:24:22.06\00:24:23.39 a half an hour before their meal 00:24:23.43\00:24:25.13 so it doesn't interfere with their appetite too much, 00:24:25.16\00:24:27.50 and doesn't really give them the effect of an added meal 00:24:27.53\00:24:31.33 but it kind of extends the benefits of a given meal, 00:24:31.37\00:24:33.74 can get some more calories in that way. 00:24:33.77\00:24:35.47 So sometimes I will in unusual circumstances, 00:24:35.50\00:24:38.27 I say unusual because most of my patients 00:24:38.31\00:24:40.44 aren't athletes. 00:24:40.48\00:24:41.81 They are people that are trying to trim down, 00:24:41.84\00:24:43.18 so the message is to cut back on the juices 00:24:43.21\00:24:45.61 rather than increasing it. 00:24:45.65\00:24:46.98 Let me tell you another concern I have that I don't hear 00:24:47.02\00:24:49.02 many people speaking about is probably 00:24:49.05\00:24:51.05 on the tip of some of your tongues. 00:24:51.09\00:24:52.42 It actually has to do with your tongue and your mouth, 00:24:52.45\00:24:54.19 it's something called urogastrone. 00:24:54.22\00:24:56.66 I know I took the words right out of your mouth, 00:24:56.69\00:24:58.19 didn't I? 00:24:58.23\00:24:59.56 Urogastrone is actually a compound 00:24:59.59\00:25:01.56 that is made in the mouth when you chew your food. 00:25:01.60\00:25:04.23 It's important for optimal gastrointestinal health, 00:25:04.27\00:25:07.90 if you want a healthy stomach, stomach lining, by the way, 00:25:07.94\00:25:11.07 we've got an epidemic in our country, 00:25:11.11\00:25:12.97 of gastro intestinal problems. 00:25:13.01\00:25:14.64 Something that can help is making more urogastrone. 00:25:14.68\00:25:17.28 How do you make more of it? 00:25:17.31\00:25:18.65 You simply chew your food thoroughly. 00:25:18.68\00:25:20.78 Isn't it amazing? So again, juices? 00:25:20.82\00:25:23.72 Bypass that natural protective mechanism. 00:25:23.75\00:25:26.86 Juices also can have some deleterious effects 00:25:26.89\00:25:29.32 on your blood sugar. 00:25:29.36\00:25:30.69 What's the bottom line? 00:25:30.73\00:25:32.06 For the average person I say, eat your fruits and vegetables 00:25:32.09\00:25:34.63 definitely, but eat them as whole foods. 00:25:34.66\00:25:36.93 That's what I do on regular basis. 00:25:36.97\00:25:38.97 That's what I recommend my patients too. 00:25:39.00\00:25:40.84 If you've got an unusual situation 00:25:40.87\00:25:42.70 where you're trying to increase your calories 00:25:42.74\00:25:44.74 or you're on some kind of special fast 00:25:44.77\00:25:46.37 or something on a doctor's supervision, 00:25:46.41\00:25:48.54 there may be a place there, of course, for juices. 00:25:48.58\00:25:50.95 But in general, 00:25:50.98\00:25:52.31 not the best thing in my experience 00:25:52.35\00:25:54.45 or in the research literature's experience 00:25:54.48\00:25:57.59 to include in your program. 00:25:57.62\00:25:59.29 I'm Dr. David DeRose, 00:25:59.32\00:26:00.69 the show is called Ask The Doctor, 00:26:00.72\00:26:02.66 you can be included, at least your questions can 00:26:02.69\00:26:04.99 simply by sending them to ask@lifeandhealth.org. 00:26:05.03\00:26:10.63 Well, friends, that's it for today. 00:27:12.26\00:27:13.93 But join us next week for another episode. 00:27:13.96\00:27:17.13 In the mean time, pick up the phone 00:27:17.17\00:27:18.73 and give us a call at 800-525-9192. 00:27:18.77\00:27:24.61 Mention the NEWSTART Now program 00:27:24.64\00:27:27.38 and receive the NEWSTART special. 00:27:27.41\00:27:30.01
