00:12 Every year in America there are over 1 million deaths
00:14 because of type 2 diabetes and chronic obesity. 00:17 This includes heart attacks and strokes. 00:20 That's six and a half 747s crashing everyday. 00:23 What's even more surprising is that the fix is easy. 00:27 It's your lifestyle. 00:28 Wouldn't it be nice if you could actually 00:30 add quality years to your life 00:31 rather than dying one organ at a time? 00:34 Obesity and diabetes are the cause 00:36 of over million deaths per year. 00:39 Most diseases are reversible. 00:41 Because most diseases are lifestyle diseases, 00:44 especially, type 2 diabetes, and chronic obesity. 00:47 Seriously now, they can be reversed 00:49 and the quality of your life can be renewed. 00:53 Call Newstart today at 1800-525-9192. 00:59 You will see dramatic changes 01:01 in the first few days of our program. 01:03 And you will be on the road to a better, 01:04 more robust quality of life. 01:07 The Newstart programs are simple and effective. 01:12 Hi friends and welcome 01:14 to another edition of Newstart Now. 01:16 I want to show you a clip of one-- 01:19 a young lady arrived here at the Newstart program, 01:23 Trini Regalado and stay with us 01:26 'cause at the end of the show after we interview with Trini, 01:30 we've a special clip for you on attitude. 01:35 So let's take a look at when Trini first arrived. 01:39 I came here because some say, 01:41 you know, and I have multiple sclerosis. 01:46 And I got that dose and over 25 years ago. 01:51 And the last three years 01:53 it's real difficult for me just to walk. 01:57 The most thing that I miss a lot is not walking. 02:01 This is like real bad you know, this is like a, you know, 02:05 it's like being taken something away 02:07 from me not walking. 02:10 You know, you can walk real good 02:12 and then it all like be dependable like, 02:15 okay, you know, 02:17 if I want to go some place I can't. 02:20 You know before if I want to go to the store, 02:22 I just pick the car and I go to the grocery store 02:26 or do some shopping and the shopping 02:28 and now I can't. 02:31 If my husband doesn't take me, 02:33 I can go no where. 02:35 The first thing I went with my heart 02:38 and I ask God just give me license, 02:42 this way my kids can grow up. 02:46 This is that the only thing that I want. 02:50 Now I'm here in a one, and our friend you know, 02:55 real good friend, he came over to our shop 02:59 and he's working with us and he told me he said, 03:03 you know what, you should go over there. 03:06 'Cause when you go over there you know, 03:09 you're gonna be a different person. 03:13 Welcome back friends in our studio, 03:15 Trini, how are you? 03:17 Okay. 03:19 Well, I'd like to ask you a few questions. 03:21 I know that I'm excited about you 03:24 being here for several reasons. 03:26 When you got here and as the interview, 03:29 the first interview suggests 03:31 you're dealing with multiple sclerosis, 03:33 is that correct? 03:34 Yes. 03:35 And you had high blood pressure. 03:37 Yes, I had, I had multiple sclerosis 03:42 and I also had high blood pressure. 03:46 Yes. 03:47 How has the Newstart program, 03:53 how's it dealing with the MS? 03:56 Do you see any change, 03:58 I know when you got here, you could barely walk. 04:01 You were in a wheel chair and tell me a little about 04:05 how you're feeling about your condition? 04:08 When I came over here, 04:10 you know, they actually I was walking a little bit and, 04:15 but just to go, you know, 04:17 places like for example go to the shopping center 04:20 or go you know, to the parks, 04:23 you know I will use our wheel chair 04:26 because I'm not able to walk you know, distance. 04:31 Now after being here for two weeks, 04:36 over two weeks on this program 04:40 and the first thing you know, 04:42 when we came over here I told my husband, 04:46 you know what Mike, if I can just you know, 04:49 give it up at my high blood pressure 04:51 it will be worth it. 04:53 Because you know, 04:54 when people have some medications, 04:57 you never stop taking it. 04:58 Yes. 04:59 I never see a people, a person they actually 05:02 you know, they'd lower the doses. 05:04 Never, it always go higher and higher and higher. 05:08 And what happen, 05:09 your risks they are actually you know, 05:12 bigger to get heart attack 05:14 or get something like that, you know. 05:16 And to those things they actually 05:19 you know it's the heart and cancer. 05:22 And what I was dealing is the heart. 05:25 So the second day I was here 05:30 and they want to check my pressure 05:34 and actually I went to 140. 05:37 And I decided just to stop the medication 05:40 and ever since I've not taken the blood pressure-- 05:43 All right, so the second day you were here, 05:46 you stopped the high blood pressure medication. 05:48 Yes. 05:49 Your blood pressure went down since then. 05:54 You're no longer taking blood pressure medication. 05:56 No, I'm not taking the medication 05:59 and also I know what to eat, 06:02 so I don't get back to the medication. 06:04 Yes. 06:05 If I start eating the way I was eating before, 06:09 there was no way I'm gonna get rid of that blood pressure. 06:12 So what you've learned is for the food 06:16 to be your medication. 06:17 Yes. 06:18 The food that they, you know we eat here, 06:22 they actually is the one you know, 06:26 they change you know, 06:28 in your system and I got rid of it, 06:30 you know, the medication. 06:32 And also they'll teach you to, 06:34 you know, how to do exercise and they give you massage, 06:37 and a lot of things to go with the program 06:40 and I'm real happy with this. 06:41 I'm glad. I'm so happy to hear that. 06:44 I want to talk to you about your MS now, 06:48 but I want to say to the audience 06:50 that's watching the program right now, 06:52 you know Trini just described to us 06:56 what has happened just for changing 06:59 a simple thing like her food intake. 07:03 Of course, there are other factors 07:05 which we'll get into as the shows go on 07:09 in the weeks to come, 07:11 we will talk about the basic eight elements 07:16 of the Newstart program. 07:18 But let's talk about you right now, the MS. 07:22 Now, there are lot of people who don't know what MS is. 07:26 I'm not sure I totally understand it. 07:28 But I do know when I see the affects 07:31 that it had on you when you got here, 07:33 you couldn't walk. 07:34 You went down to the clinic which is about a 100, 07:38 maybe a 100 yards from the lodge 07:42 and you had to stop and rest three times you told me. 07:46 Well, the first time when I got here 07:48 my husband took me in a wheel chair. 07:50 But he just actually you know, 07:52 he went and then I'll check in the, 07:55 his phone you know, to see the distance. 07:58 Yes. 07:59 And actually it's a quarter mile. 08:01 Quarter mile? 08:02 Quarter mile, we have to, 08:04 I have to walk you know from our room to the clinic 08:09 and that's a quarter mile and first, 08:11 you know, when I got here 08:12 actually he took me in the wheel chair. 08:15 And the second time when I went I had to take, 08:20 you know, I have to stop three times and rest. 08:23 And yesterday I went to the clinic 08:28 and then from the clinic to the diner 08:30 and then to my room and it was half a mile 08:34 that I walk and I only rest one time. 08:37 Amen. 08:38 So, you know, this have been helping me a lot. 08:41 For example when I lay down 08:44 I can move more easy you know to turn 08:47 and also to get up in the morning. 08:49 Now, Trini, let me stop you for a minute. 08:51 Yes. 08:53 I have to say this, when you came here 08:55 and you just said on camera, 08:59 you'd be satisfied if the blood pressure dropped. 09:01 Yes. 09:03 Not only did the blood pressure dropped 09:05 but your MS is getting better, is what you're saying. 09:08 Is that correct? 09:09 Yes, I can do a lot of more things and more easy. 09:13 Like for example, my problem is my right side. 09:16 And when I came over here in the morning, 09:20 I used to sometimes cry 09:22 because I can't even pull my shoe up. 09:24 Oh. 09:25 And now in the morning I pull my socks 09:31 and then I put my shoe 09:33 and then it'll take me like not even, 09:39 it take me just like less than a minute to do it. 09:42 Before it was so hard. 09:44 Another thing, you know, it is like a, 09:47 you know, went out when I was laying down, 09:51 you know, I can turn the long-- 09:55 you know, turns on in the morning, 09:56 at 5'o clock in the morning. 09:58 And the first week it was so hard for me 10:01 to reach to turn off you know, the alarm. 10:04 And now I can do it really easy, real easy. 10:07 So that means I have, I move better. 10:11 And also I can tell that my legs 10:14 you know, it has a lot less inflammation. 10:17 Praise God. 10:18 So I asked the doctor Louis, 10:20 you know, I have my tube fibrillator 10:25 and then you know, he said oh yeah, 10:27 because all the inflammation is going down. 10:29 Yes. 10:30 Just, you know, and I asked them 10:32 what I had to do? 10:33 They said, just continue what are you eating here 10:35 and doing the exercise and that's all you have to do. 10:39 So I'm real happy with the program 10:41 and I recommend everybody to come over here. 10:45 Would you do me a favor? Sure. 10:46 Would you look into that camera 10:48 and tell your friends in Spanish, 10:52 what you just said. 10:54 ( speaking in foreign language ) 11:39 Thank you so much. 11:41 Now your doctors, who again? 11:44 Dr. Lukens? Lukens. 11:46 Dr. Richards. Richard Lukens, yes. 11:49 We're gonna be interviewing him in just a little while 11:53 but I just want to take this last few minutes 11:56 just to praise the Lord 11:58 and thank you for joining us here in the studio 12:03 and being willing to share your testimony. 12:06 Okay. Thank you so much. 12:07 Thank you for having me. 12:10 Don't go away 'cause Dr. Lukens 12:11 will be with us in just a moment. 12:44 Welcome back, friends 12:45 and in our studio Dr. Rick Lukens. 12:48 Good to see you doctor. 12:49 Yeah, it's good to see you. 12:50 As usual. Yes. 12:52 You know, lot of our viewers know 12:55 who you are and many of them don't, 12:57 so I just like to talk about you 12:59 for just maybe a minute. 13:00 And I know you don't like to do this 13:02 but I-- it's my request. 13:05 So you have been here-- Okay. 13:08 You've been here 13:09 at the Newstart program for 25 years. 13:14 And I know that you go to Africa 13:18 now and then and you have a clinic there 13:21 that you've been ministering 13:22 through the African nationals for 40 years or how long is it? 13:29 Well, it was 15 years where we were in Africa 15 13:32 before we came here so it's going on then, yeah. 13:35 Yeah, it's about 40 years. 13:37 And I also have heard you 13:39 speak of the African nation as you know them. 13:44 Nations, yeah. 13:45 Yeah, nations have very few heart attacks 13:52 or cardio vascular events. 13:54 Yeah, of all kinds of things. 13:57 If they are in out there doing what they need to do, 14:01 they're not gonna survive. 14:03 So even traumatic injuries 14:09 and all kinds of stuff that you think 14:10 well, that persons is not ever gonna be 14:12 able to use that extremity again. 14:14 They do whatever they have to do. 14:17 They are still there, they are amazing. 14:19 Yeah, it really is amazing. 14:20 We don't see more of this in the media. 14:23 I mean, how other countries live a healthy style 14:28 because of what they eat and the exercise they do. 14:31 Well, then on the other hand you know, 14:33 people are gonna say, well, I saw pictures of those, 14:36 that women and the children and they look like sticks 14:39 and I'm never gonna look like that. 14:41 You see, the thing is that there is all this ethnics, 14:45 cleansing and all these fights 14:47 and stuff going on and they will just, 14:50 you know, whole groups of people 14:51 who'd be just starved to death 14:53 and then their children those plants based food 14:56 that they are eating are very healthy for them 14:59 but they don't understand sanitation. 15:01 So they'll have diarrhea with blood in, 15:02 maybe four, five, eight times 15:04 by the time they are two years of age. 15:07 That they can't recover from that 15:08 and then all the parasites and everything so, 15:11 no, it's not their diets, it's not their lifestyle, 15:14 it's that they don't understand, 15:16 you know, how to take care of themselves 15:18 as far as that goes. 15:19 Okay, well, forgive me for taking 15:23 so much time about Africa, 15:25 your past but I like to talk about Trini now. 15:29 Trini got here, she was in a wheel chair, 15:34 I don't know that she can even walk. 15:37 But I remember asking her to come for the first interview 15:41 which we just saw and I met her up at the lodge 15:48 which is about a 100 yards from the clinic, 15:51 and says I'll meet you at the clinic. 15:53 I went back down to the clinic 15:55 and 20 minutes later she wasn't there. 15:58 So I started to go up and she was about half way. 16:01 She was trying to walk. Yeah, yeah. 16:04 Can you tell me what has transpired now? 16:07 Has she able to walk, has she done with the wheel chair. 16:11 You know, first of all what is her problem? 16:15 Multiple sclerosis and most people know it as MS. 16:20 We don't know in medicine everything 16:22 that we'd like to know and anyway that's a disease 16:28 that probably it's autoimmune. 16:32 There's something to do with body attacking itself, 16:36 it's kind of like the insulation on the wires. 16:39 Our nerves are our wires 16:41 and when that's off, then you can see 16:46 it's kind of like short-circuiting them. 16:48 And if a person, you know, just kind of settles down 16:52 and takes all the medications 16:53 and stuff that they can 16:54 then probably they will be in a wheel chair. 16:58 Maybe in five years 17:00 one of my schoolmates in college 17:03 he dies after 10, 15 years, 17:06 wheel chairs and bedfast and then the other. 17:10 There's other ones where the body attacks itself. 17:13 A systemic lupus erythematosus, that's where the body-- 17:19 we've had more experience with that, 17:20 we've had some experience with the MS as well. 17:23 But we can just tell people with that 17:27 as they do this lifestyle changes 17:31 especially when they become totally vegan 17:33 and in two years they can be off 17:35 of all their medications. 17:38 The test turnout normal and they can just say, 17:42 well, I used to have it, which is you know, 17:46 that's not something that you can say. 17:48 With MS it's a little bit different, 17:51 it's actually more severe in many respects 17:55 and the thing is that 17:57 they are into health food stores 18:01 and this kind of stuff they've some stuff down 18:04 and just outside the bay area there. 18:07 And it's very interesting 18:09 because she was doing all this stuff 18:11 and she was on a really good program, 18:16 they were eating their fruits and vegetables and pretty much, 18:20 you know, what we would say 18:23 may be almost vegan vegetarian anyway 18:26 and then she's 25 years out you see. 18:30 Yeah, that's a no, no. 18:31 So I asked her, I said, how did you get, 18:35 how're you still functioning at 25 years. 18:39 Now the medical community knows that they go into remission 18:43 and then they exacerbates again and they get bad and so forth. 18:47 So that's not so impressive to rheumatology and so forth. 18:54 But hers was and then when she was told, 18:57 hey, you've to get some really good proteins, 19:00 you've got to go to the animal products, 19:01 you've got to eat some of the flesh foods 19:03 to get a really good protein 19:06 so that your body can be healthy. 19:09 And when she started doing that, 19:11 she just started going down faster and faster. 19:15 So with her MS as we've seen other people 19:19 kind of progress once they've come here 19:23 and I've seen some progress with her. 19:25 Make progress, you mean not progress in their disease. 19:28 Yes, that's what I meant. 19:30 Yeah, thank you for clearing that. 19:33 Do you see her someday not needing a walker? 19:38 Can she reach that point? 19:40 We know it was very interesting 19:41 because at first, you know, she's a very resilient person 19:46 and she doesn't just complain all the time, 19:49 you caught that for me too. 19:50 Yeah, yeah. 19:51 She tries to be happy and that be 19:53 but the thing is that 19:55 what was so interesting about her 19:58 was that she was now getting to the place 20:01 where she was giving up hope 20:03 because she thought she was doing the right thing, 20:06 but she was doing this, she said, you know, 20:11 I can move my head more now and my muscles 20:13 and yes, she was actually able to start walking 20:17 and she would have to sit down sometimes 20:19 but you know her whole spirits lifted in 20:23 and her husband was happier too, you know. 20:25 Her husband, I'm so glad he was here, 20:28 he was a good support and she's done so well, 20:31 and we will follow up with her 20:34 and encourage her in anyway we can. 20:38 Now there's a website to people if they want to know 20:41 what is all this stuff and everything, 20:44 John McDougall, he's in this 20:46 and Bay Area over in Santa Rosa and so forth. 20:51 On his website he talks about MS 20:53 and there is something called Swank, Swank diet. 20:58 And people are following that 21:00 and he's followed some of them 21:02 for 35 plus years and that's amazing. 21:10 We've seen Dr. McDougall 21:12 and we've heard many of his lectures. 21:15 There's also another doctor, Dr. McGregor 21:18 where you could go to his website-- 21:21 And he talks about MS as well? 21:23 Oh, he talks about everything under the sun. 21:27 And not just from a doctor's point of view 21:29 but more of a scientific point of view. 21:33 It generally equates to 21:35 and not limited to just lifestyle 21:38 but basically lifestyle. 21:41 Doctor, I want to take this last moment 21:43 to thank you for coming on the program. 21:45 It's great. 21:46 That's always a blessing to see you here. 21:48 Thank you. 21:49 And don't go away friends 21:50 because Dr. Randy Bivens will be right with us 21:53 within an important tip. 22:01 Hi, I'm Dr. Randy Bivens. 22:03 Thomas Jefferson once wrote that, 22:05 "Nothing can stop the man 22:07 with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal." 22:10 Nothing on earth can help the man 22:12 with the wrong mental attitude. 22:15 More currently, the popular motivational speakers 22:18 Zig Ziglar said, "It's not your aptitude 22:21 but your attitude that determines your altitude." 22:26 Attitude, there are literally thousands of studies 22:29 and articles discussing the impact attitude has 22:32 on aging and longevity. 22:35 In a review of 160 published medical studies 22:38 it was shown that people had a positive mental attitude 22:42 enjoyed better health and longer lives. 22:46 This link between positive mindset, 22:49 better health, and longer lifespan 22:51 was actually shown to be stronger 22:54 than the link between obesity, and reduced lifespan. 22:58 Let's look at some examples 23:00 of how our attitude can affect us. 23:03 One medical study looked at the relationship 23:05 between anger and heart disease. 23:08 The participants who demonstrated more anger 23:11 were found to have 2.7 times more heart disease 23:15 than the calmer participants. 23:18 Another study found that people 23:20 who often felt anxious, unhappy 23:22 or depressed were twice as likely 23:25 to have high blood pressure. 23:27 And in yet another study feelings of frustration, 23:30 tension and sadness were associated 23:32 with a doubled risk of ischemic heart disease. 23:36 Increased rates of heart attack were found in those 23:38 who tend to worry with the heaviest worriers 23:41 increasing their risk for heart attack 23:43 by two and a half times. 23:46 The evidence is clear 23:48 when we consider this alarming numbers, 23:50 it is much easier to recognize the pure 23:53 and positive value of the serenity prayer. 23:56 The serenity prayer simply asks God 23:59 to grant me the serenity 24:01 to accept the things I cannot change; 24:04 courage to change the things I can; 24:07 and wisdom to know the difference. 24:10 So what can we do to brighten our outlook on life? 24:14 What can we do to improve our attitudes 24:16 and in return gain more thriving 24:18 and fulfilling years of life? 24:22 Wake up early. 24:23 By getting up early we can get 24:25 a head start on our daily tasks. 24:28 That will reduce our stress. 24:30 We'll also have time for healthy breakfast, 24:32 improving both our world view and our health 24:36 at the very beginning of our day. 24:39 Exercise will do your brain and body a lot of good. 24:43 Nature has been shown to have 24:44 a calming influence on you psyche. 24:47 So spend some active time outdoors, 24:49 enjoying the natural beauty that God has created. 24:54 Plan ahead. 24:56 When you know what you're planning 24:57 to achieve in a given day a week, 24:59 you will have less stress. 25:01 By the way this works particularly well 25:04 if you remember to wake up early. 25:08 Understand that things often do not go according to plan. 25:12 Yes, planning ahead is good 25:14 but when something doesn't workout as planned, 25:16 it's important to view the situation 25:18 as an opportunity rather than a road block. 25:23 Get spiritually connected. 25:25 As we've shown in earlier videos 25:28 having a relationship with God 25:30 and being involved at church 25:32 plays significant roles in overall mental attitude 25:35 and can significantly add to your lifespan. 25:39 Be thankful. 25:41 Have you ever heard the phrase, 25:42 "When life feeds you waves, learn how to surf." 25:47 No matter what we can always find things to be thankful for. 25:51 Try spending less time focusing on yourself 25:54 and more time focusing on others. 25:57 This sort of outward thinking can go far 26:01 in improving your own mental health. 26:04 Spend time around positive people. 26:07 Perhaps it goes without saying 26:09 but we often mirror 26:10 the emotions of those around us. 26:13 Consider who you surround yourself with. 26:16 Make the conscious decision to be around people 26:18 who add cheer and love to your life. 26:22 Solomon, an ancient king of Israel 26:24 and widely thought to be the wisest man 26:26 to have ever lived once wrote, 26:28 "A joyful heart is good medicine." 26:32 He reiterate this later writing, 26:34 "For the happy heart, life is a continual feast." 26:40 In our goal to live longer and more fulfilling lives, 26:44 attitude maybe the most powerful medicine 26:47 that I as a physician can prescribe. 26:52 You're killing me. 26:57 You're killing me. 26:59 Actually, Dad, you are killing yourself. 27:03 With the only program scientifically proven 27:05 to prolong life by 10 years, 27:07 the Newstart Lifestyle Program 27:09 can significantly decrease the risk of disease, 27:11 including diabetes. 27:13 You're done with that? I think I am. 27:16 Go to newstart.com now to learn more. 27:19 The Newstart Lifestyle Program, we bring you back to life. 27:23 Well, friends, that's it for today. 27:25 But join us next week for another episode. 27:28 In the meantime, pick up the phone 27:29 and give us a call at 1-800-525-9192. 27:35 Mention the Newstart Now program 27:38 and receive the Newstart special. |
