00:12 Every year in America
00:13 there are over one million deaths 00:14 because of Type 2 diabetes and chronic obesity. 00:17 This includes heart attacks and strokes. 00:20 That's six and half, 747s crashing every day. 00:23 What's even more surprising is that the fix is easy. 00:27 It's your lifestyle. 00:28 Wouldn't it be nice 00:29 if you could actually add quality years to your life 00:32 rather than dying of one organ at a time? 00:34 Obesity and diabetes are the cause 00:36 of over million deaths per year. 00:39 Most diseases are reversible 00:41 because most diseases are lifestyle diseases, 00:44 especially Type 2 diabetes and chronic obesity. 00:47 Seriously now they can be reversed 00:49 and the quality of your life can be renewed. 00:53 Call Newstart today at 1-800-525-9192. 00:59 You will see dramatic changes 01:01 in the first few days of the program 01:03 and you'll be on the road 01:04 to a better more robust quality of life. 01:07 The Newstart programs are simple and effective. 01:13 Hi, friends, and welcome 01:14 to another edition of Newstart Now. 01:17 I'm your host Ron Giannoni. 01:19 In our studio we have Barbara Farriester 01:23 and we're gonna take a look at the clip 01:25 when she first arrived. 01:27 You're gonna be amazed 01:29 by the difference between now and then. 01:33 And also stick around 01:34 because at the end of our program 01:36 we have an important message from Dr. Randy Bivens. 01:44 I had open heart surgery in 2013 01:48 and at all had to be redone in 2014 01:51 and I knew, I needed to change my lifestyle. 01:54 This time I had one totally blocked 01:56 the other three were 90% each. 01:58 So the doctor said, 01:59 you're not quite as bad you were 02:01 but I don't normally get people here in one year 02:06 that is blocked like this again. 02:08 But I am willing to do anything 02:10 and he said you need to go to a place 02:13 that is called Weimar 02:15 and said they can set you on the right road 02:18 and I just thought sure they came. 02:20 I still won't like the food 02:22 and I still won't have any thing to eat 02:24 and I hate exercise. 02:26 But I want from this program is control of my diabetics, 02:30 no more meds hopefully, 02:32 control of my heart condition where it's healthy 02:35 and I no longer have to go to hospitals. 02:39 But the biggest thing I want 02:41 is to have a new joy in life again. 02:44 I want to be able to participate with my family, 02:48 with my church, with my husband 02:51 and have a life that has value not just existence. 02:56 And most people don't understand 02:57 is if you are not willing to change your lifestyle 03:01 you are gonna keep getting what you already have 03:04 and I don't want what I already have. 03:09 Hi, friends, and welcome back. 03:10 And as I promise Barbara, how are you? 03:13 I am wonderful. 03:14 I can see that and I already told the viewers 03:18 to take a look at the difference. 03:21 Now when you got here 03:22 you seemed very depressed to me. 03:24 Extremely. 03:25 Your down, your color was different. 03:28 I even thank you had more of the draw. 03:31 I don't know that there was. 03:33 I am just teasing about that. 03:35 But you look different tell us what happen only two weeks. 03:41 My whole attitude has changed. 03:44 I expected some things to happen. 03:48 I expected the food to be horrible 03:51 and God amazed me it was wonderful. 03:53 Oh, my. 03:54 It was wonderful, I love it. 03:57 I can live on this diet, 03:59 it is the best thing I've ever been done. 04:01 So your altitude really changed. 04:04 And I exercise and it doesn't kill me. 04:07 And I love the outside. 04:09 You exercise? I do. 04:10 No. 04:12 And I love the outside, 04:13 I love the sunshine, everything has-- 04:17 I feel like I have my life back, 04:20 I feel like that. 04:22 This program has saved me 04:24 because I don't think I would be here 04:27 in very many more years had I not found this 04:32 and Weimar is-- its just exceptional, amazing. 04:37 Well, you know we are blessed. 04:40 We are. 04:41 All of us that work here, 04:43 all of us have been through the program. 04:45 I am one I came through an all flab 04:47 as many of viewers know. 04:50 But now your one of the rank 04:52 we're not only brothers and sisters 04:55 in the zipper club-- 04:56 Right. 04:57 But we are a limelight of the NewStart program. 05:00 Absolutely. 05:01 So in this NewStart which we call it NewStart 05:08 because that's what it really is. 05:10 It absolutely is. 05:11 Its like the Lord says, here you are my child. 05:15 You got a second lease 05:17 what you're gonna do with it this time? 05:20 Well, when God saved me from my heart attack 05:26 which was very severe at the time 05:28 and then when it happen again 05:31 I knew, He has some kind of plans for me 05:33 and I thought I can't do anything. 05:36 I don't have the stamina or anything 05:39 and now whatever He puts out there 05:42 because of Weimar I know I can do it. 05:44 Wherever He calls me I can go, I can do 05:47 whatever He wants me to do and that's what I want to do 05:50 to be there for my family, for my church, for my God. 05:57 Wow. 05:58 That is so wonderful it's like music to my ears. 06:01 I get little emotional 06:03 because you-- it's me speaking to myself. 06:07 You hear what I am saying? 06:09 And all of us through had this kind of experience 06:13 are also sharing this same emotion. 06:16 There is hope, there is truly a new start. 06:21 Let's get back to you now, 06:22 how much weight have you lost? 06:24 I have lost six pounds. 06:26 Six pounds. 06:27 In seventeen days. 06:28 In seventeen-- good girl. 06:29 Yes. 06:30 And have you are-- 06:31 have you been taken off any medications? 06:34 I have been taken off. 06:35 I came here with ten medications 06:38 I am going home with two that I had been assured 06:40 I can get off in the next 12 weeks to a year and half. 06:46 The medicine for the stents 06:47 I have to wait till the stents heal-- 06:49 Yes. Then I'm off of those. 06:51 The anti-depression I am doing so well, 06:53 I want off to be it and he said 06:55 let's just take one step at a time 06:56 and that's not a problem, you are not gonna, 06:59 you know, have a problem with it 07:00 and my attitude is so different. 07:04 So I feel so much lighter. 07:06 I felt like when I came 07:08 life was just bearing down on that. 07:10 And now then, every morning you wake up 07:13 and you hear the birds outside there are beautiful 07:16 and you just want to give up 07:17 and live your day, you know. 07:19 Yeah, yeah. That's wonderful. 07:22 Let's talk about your experience 07:24 of the NewStart program. 07:27 Of all the people on campus 07:32 or all the programs that you visited 07:35 including the lectures what did you enjoy the most? 07:40 The lectures were wonderful, 07:41 they gave us so much information. 07:44 And the food was absolutely delicious 07:46 but I have to say learning to walk again 07:51 and the trips that the groups took together 07:53 and when we walked down by that stream 07:55 that was rushing and sounded so beautiful. 07:58 And saw all the wildlife, 07:59 we saw a wild turkey, we saw squirre you know. 08:03 It just, it just lifted my soul, it really did. 08:07 God's creation is so beautiful. 08:09 You took the five mile walk or three? 08:10 I did, I did the five. 08:12 You did all five. 08:13 Yeah. 08:15 Did the doctors do it with you? 08:16 Yes. 08:17 So you have doctors with you, 08:18 nurses with you, staff with you. 08:21 I mean-- 08:22 The exercise counselor. 08:24 Everybody that's anybody that could help you were there. 08:27 Yeah, I was supposed to go by the way 08:30 but I was-- one thing happen to me 08:33 I over did it my routine 08:36 and I all of a sudden was getting pains and cramps 08:39 so, I didn't come. 08:40 I apologize but I will make sure 08:43 I go to the next one. 08:44 But I walk six and half miles a day now. 08:47 You do? 08:48 And I never ever exercised or walked in any form before. 08:52 So that has been God because I thought my legs 08:56 were gonna fall off the first couple of days. 08:58 And now, then is just wonderful to get out 09:01 and just walk, just walk. 09:04 So, I want to get back to the food 09:07 because during our first interview you said 09:09 I am gonna hate this food, I am gonna hate this-- 09:11 you were hating everybody and everything. 09:13 Now, you're loving everybody and everything. 09:15 How you're gonna cook this food, 09:17 this terrible food? 09:19 The cooking school they have here is fantastic. 09:22 You get hands on experience and you get to taste the food. 09:26 They carried out with cafeteria and we get to taste our fixings 09:30 and the recipes are so simple and easy, 09:33 you know, it's something you can really incorporate 09:35 in your every day life. 09:37 It's not complicated, 09:38 it's not hard and there are delicious. 09:42 There are really, really are. 09:43 I know. 09:44 I would not have believed it but they are. 09:47 I keep going back for more. 09:49 I had last week, I had pizza 09:51 almost I had four or five pieces of pizza 09:54 and I had cabbage with it big and a salad. 10:00 Oh, just delicious. 10:02 All right, so have you established 10:06 a network of new friends with the other folks 10:10 that had been through the program? 10:12 Yes, everybody is so excited and want to know 10:16 what we're gonna do in the future 10:18 to keep in touch email, telephone. 10:22 There are so concerned about you 10:26 and you are so concerned about them 10:28 that its unbelievable you can bond that quickly 10:31 but I guess, since we all had a central goal 10:34 and was trying to get our lives back 10:37 we understand when somebody talks to you about something. 10:40 You know, where they are coming from 10:42 and you want to make sure they continue 10:45 and the supporting will be fantastic, 10:49 it will be great. 10:50 And you know I'll be checking in with you every month. 10:52 Yes. 10:53 As I promised and I only do that 10:56 with guest who walk in the call 10:59 otherwise I just don't call I don't want to push. 11:02 But on the other hand sometimes I do so-- 11:06 I welcome it, sincerely. 11:08 Well, we will be in touch. 11:10 Okay, anything that I have not asked 11:14 that you like to tell us. 11:17 Well, one thing that has come about with me coming to Weimar 11:21 is I have eight brothers and sisters, 11:24 three of brothers and three of sisters 11:26 and one of my brother is going to go 11:28 with this lifestyle soon as I get to home 11:31 and can get them as much information as I can. 11:33 You gonna be coaching? 11:35 So, yes. Wow. 11:36 And I am so excited because, you know, 11:40 they are all, all but one older than me 11:43 and so I am not ready to let them go. 11:45 So I am so tickled that they are ready 11:48 to change their lifestyle too. 11:50 Well, praises God, you know subject. 11:51 So Weimar touches a lot more lives 11:53 than just what are here. 11:54 Oh, yes. 11:55 What you can take back home is amazing. 11:58 And remember, the viewers. 12:00 Right. 12:02 We gonna-- this interview 12:05 will be seen all over the world-- 12:08 By thousands, hundreds of thousands perhaps millions. 12:12 And so, somewhere out there 12:14 there's someone who is watching you 12:18 and there are gone wow, 12:19 that happened to her I can do that, 12:22 I can make a change. 12:23 I knew well, you know the drill. 12:27 If I can anybody can, 12:30 there are probably in very need 12:31 as you had as negative as I was to began with. 12:34 I know that. 12:35 But I was desperate and when you are desperate 12:38 you will do whatever you have to do. 12:41 And to find out that it was easy 12:44 that was just plus. 12:46 Barbara, I want to thank you. 12:47 We ran out of time. 12:49 I appreciate you coming on the program with us. 12:51 God bless you and I will be in touch. 12:53 And friends, do not go away 12:56 because we have a message for you 12:58 not only right now but later on end of the show 13:01 Dr. Randy Bivens will be here. 13:35 Welcome back friends, 13:37 in our studio Doctor Rick Lukens. 13:39 Good to see you, doc. 13:40 Good to be here. 13:41 What a grip. 13:42 You know, we're gonna to talk about Barbara. 13:46 Well, I have to say something. 13:48 I think it's very interesting, 13:49 I am saying this because she and I have both 13:53 had open heart surgery 13:55 otherwise known as cardio vascular disease 13:59 and I just been talking to a friend of mine 14:03 who is a vice-president here at Weimar, Pastor Brackett 14:09 and he said to me, he said, Ron, 14:11 and we are actually using this as a commercial now. 14:14 He says, its amazing 14:16 that millions of people die every year 14:19 from cardio vascular disease 14:21 which is heart attack and stroke at least, 14:27 which is the equivalence to six and half, 14:31 747s crashing daily filled with people 14:38 and yet one 747 crashes 14:42 and it's all over the news as it should be. 14:45 But what about this disease, it's not all over the news, 14:49 nobody hardly knows about it. 14:50 The viewers here are learning. 14:53 Tell us about this, doc. 14:55 Well, in some of the other interviews 14:57 that we have been done 14:59 we talked about coronary artery disease 15:01 and the 15 years that I had in Africa 15:04 I saw two people-- 15:05 Two people. 15:06 Well, with heart attack, yeah. 15:07 Amazing. 15:08 There was bona fide, yeah. 15:10 And so because of their lifestyle, 15:14 because of their lifestyle they just don't have that. 15:17 And so what's gonna happen 15:18 that all the westerners are gonna die often, 15:21 the people in the third way-- the third world. 15:24 Another thing is that she was talking about here 15:28 artery is being plugged up and everything. 15:33 There's so many kids that are, 15:35 they say that probably a third of the kids 15:38 that are in high school now are gonna have 15:41 diabetics by the time-- 15:43 that they are gonna die before their parents. 15:46 And diabetics is one of the leading 15:48 causes of plugged up arteries 15:50 and stroke and it's the leading 15:53 causes of blindness in the United States. 15:54 So, well, we've got to do something for our lifestyle. 15:58 I've never seen so many chunky little kids in schools. 16:02 You know, when I went to school 16:04 I was probably one of the bigots 16:06 but I was in chunky. 16:08 And now I see a lot of those little one's 16:10 and its lifestyle we know, for sure 16:13 its what's their parents are teaching them to eat 16:16 or their teacher's or other friend-- 16:18 I don't know for sure but it's combination of all. 16:21 Just real quickly, my wife goes to thread shops 16:24 and get children's clothes for Africa 16:26 and she says you know, 16:28 most time the little boy's clothes 16:30 that used to all be worn out now they are hardly used. 16:33 Video games and all these kinds of stuff, 16:35 you know, wear your clothes out playing video games. 16:38 Wow, a good point. 16:39 Yeah. 16:40 Now, Barbara okay, we were here in opening night 16:45 where the guest come in and introduce themselves 16:49 and you were there I remember 16:51 and Barbara fainted. 16:54 Yeah. 16:55 Tell us what happened there. 16:56 Well, she has from the time 17:01 that she had the diagnosis of diabetics 17:05 she said that she never really had 17:07 her blood sugars under 300. 17:10 And that's been for years. 17:12 Eight years. Eight years. 17:13 Yeah. Wow. 17:14 And so, in fact where she works, 17:17 if there is somebody on the line there can go 17:19 and just do a blood test on if they know they are diabetic. 17:22 And if they are over-- if they are 300 or above 17:25 they pull them off the line and send him home. 17:27 Her doctor had to write special request for her 17:31 because her blood levels are never under 300. 17:35 Also, she didn't want to go in insulin 17:37 they could have driven it down that way 17:39 but that would have just caused more atherosclerosis. 17:42 Because the higher your insulin levels 17:45 are the more your arteries are plugging out. 17:48 So she said that she had bypass surgery. 17:51 And then, year later you know-- 17:53 she just said that 17:54 and so then they had to put stents and all these things. 17:57 And kind of when I saw here 17:58 kind of reminded me of the lady in the Bible 18:01 and said that she had suffered many things 18:04 at the hands of their physician. 18:06 But I mean they were trying to save here life. 18:08 There were, yes. 18:09 But she wasn't doing the things that she needed to do. 18:14 So anyway, she comes in 18:16 and the last medication it's a new one 18:19 and one of the other doctor said 18:20 I don't know why they ever even made that meditation 18:24 because it's a most horrible thing. 18:26 What it does it causes you to dump 18:29 your sugar in the urine, dump your salts in the urine 18:32 and that's what happens 18:33 when you have diabetic ketoacidosis. 18:35 She had been on the choppy airplane flight from Arkansas 18:41 and so they didn't let him get out, 18:42 they didn't get him the usual hydration 18:46 and so forth on the flight 18:48 and so, she got here she was on the meditation, 18:52 her blood volume is low and she was sitting there 18:56 and pretty soon somebody said talk, talk 18:58 and there she was, she was just flat on the floor 19:02 and of course, you know, we had to send her off to the, 19:05 to the emergency room 19:06 and they hospitalized her overnight. 19:08 But it's really something, 19:10 when I like to do is I like to get into the fact 19:13 that she was so determine to do. 19:17 Well, she didn't want to go on the shots all the time. 19:20 She didn't want to have to check her blood sugars-- 19:22 But she didn't want to eat the food 19:24 and she didn't want exercise. 19:26 Yeah, she said-- She was determined. 19:28 Yeah, her friend that was here with her, 19:32 she said, you know, I don't want to give up meat. 19:34 Yes. 19:35 We know that when we give up meat eating 19:37 and you can stop insulin 19:39 and in lot of cases in just a few days. 19:43 So now, she is so thrilled and she did enjoy it through. 19:47 But the thing is that 19:49 we-- she went on the three day fast 19:53 and she started her blood sugars 19:57 during the fast went down to normal. 19:59 So we knew that she was making insulin 20:02 and then we checked and so, the thing is that 20:08 she was able to get those blood sugars 20:11 a little bit lower even off of her insulin 20:15 by her diet and exercise. 20:17 So, at the end you know 20:18 I could see she just kind of like, 20:20 oh, this gonna work. 20:22 But anyway, her one of last 20:25 blood sugars is 270 in that area 20:29 and then just before she left it was 220. 20:32 So I want to know, so I called her up 20:34 and I said Barbara, how are you doing? 20:36 And what did I want to know from her 20:39 are you doing your exercise? 20:41 She said, I am still getting in my five miles every day. 20:46 If some other time before she goes to work. 20:48 Wonderful. 20:49 Now, the thing is that she told me with the diet 20:52 and the exercise that she is doing 20:54 she continues to lose weight 20:57 and she now, her fasting blood sugars are all under 110. 21:04 Wow. 21:05 And her two hour post postprandial blood sugars 21:08 are between 140 and 160. 21:12 And she only been gone through what about five weeks 21:16 and to when you exercise that increases the mitochondria 21:22 which makes your muscles more active 21:24 and they can use up off the sugar 21:27 and trying to get all these kind of steps from this. 21:29 You don't even need once she started exercising 21:33 after five minutes you don't even need 21:36 insulin to get the sugar into your muscles. 21:39 Oh, right. 21:40 And you are gonna get 50% more activity on your pancreas 21:45 and in six to twelve weeks 21:48 when you've been doing all these exercises 21:49 is just time exercise. 21:54 God is wonderful. 21:55 He has created us in such a way, 21:57 I don't really believe 22:00 and I don't want anybody to quote me 22:02 but I believe this on my personal belief that 22:04 people through lifestyle can almost change any condition. 22:09 And I know that's not totally true 22:11 but some one to back of mind say 22:14 if they change their lifestyle 22:16 then at least the body has a chance to get them well. 22:20 Generally, the American Medical Association back in 1989 22:23 when I was first got here they said, 22:25 the physically fittest people 22:28 will have 50% decrease in their risk 22:34 of cardio vascular disease. 22:35 When you say well, that's makes sense 22:37 and in cancer. 22:39 Wow. 1989? 22:42 1989 it's clear back there. 22:44 Oh. Yeah. 22:46 Well, we got-- that's why we have this program 22:49 to inform the world that there is hope, 22:52 there is a place they can go and there are many of them 22:56 all over the country throughout the world. 22:59 This session we've already gotten 23:01 somebody off their insulin pump. 23:03 Good. 23:04 And we were running out of time. 23:06 Thank you for joining us. 23:08 Friends, don't go away Dr. Randy Bivens 23:10 will be right with this with an important tip. 23:19 Hi, I am Dr. Randy Bivens. 23:22 "Joy, temperance, and repose, 23:24 slam the door on the doctor's nose." 23:26 Although this was said in early 1800s by Longfellow 23:30 it is relevant as ever today. 23:32 Think about it too much of anything is bad. 23:36 Even drinking too much of water can be deadly. 23:39 Once you agree that we need to keep our habits in check. 23:42 Take the sun for example, 23:44 sunlight is a great example of moderation for health. 23:48 It only takes a few minutes of full exposure 23:51 in middle of the day to convert adequate amounts of vitamin D. 23:55 Yet, while enjoying 20 to 30 minutes in the sun 23:58 can have an amazingly positive influence on our mood. 24:02 Spending too much time in the sun 24:04 can lead to sunburn and even cancer. 24:08 Some of you may associate the word temperance 24:10 with the temperance moment of the 1800's 24:12 Which among other things urged or prohibited 24:16 the consumption of alcoholic beverages. 24:18 But temperance is much more than avoiding alcohol 24:21 or limiting yourself to one lump of sugar in you tea. 24:26 Try to think if temperance as a state of mind 24:28 where and you can seek to practice balance 24:31 with your body and your passions. 24:33 It's really an age old conflict 24:35 stretching back to ancient Greece 24:37 and even to the dawn of mankind. 24:40 If you remember the story the first humans Adam and Eve 24:43 struggled with intemperance in diet 24:46 and wound up eating the forbidden fruit. 24:49 So how do we practice moderation in our own lives? 24:53 As mentioned earlier, we need to figure 24:55 how to control our bodies and our actions. 24:59 And extremely challenging place to do this is in our diets. 25:03 Obesity in much of the advance world 25:06 is becoming wide spread public health issue 25:09 that if left uncheck 25:11 will soon becoming the leading cause of death. 25:14 So when it comes to your food choices 25:16 think and choose temperately. 25:19 Eat enough to sustain your physical needs 25:22 and choose nutrient rich foods that will make your body happy. 25:26 Other products that stimulate our senses like nicotine, 25:29 caffeine depressants like alcohol 25:32 are another subject I'd like to touch on. 25:34 Historically, 25:36 temperance had a strong association with alcohol. 25:39 Recently, many scientific studies 25:41 have been conducted on the health benefits 25:42 of drinking small amounts of alcohol. 25:45 But they haven't done much but muddy the waters. 25:48 One long standing truth remains clear, 25:51 what starts as occasional or light drinking 25:54 can quickly become a habit. 25:56 And habitual drinking is clearly a health hazard. 25:59 Because of this although we are talking about moderation 26:03 I think alcohol might be an area 26:05 where total abstinence is a better choice. 26:09 When it seems like our lives are spinning out of control 26:13 temperance can help us regain direction. 26:15 It is about balancing control. 26:17 Remember, in our exceedingly digital world most 26:21 if not all of us, 26:22 could probably spend much of the day 26:24 with our eyes glued to some form of screen. 26:27 Where's the life in that? 26:29 Where is the joy? 26:31 Practice temperance with your reliance on technology 26:34 and take a moment to collect your thoughts 26:37 and simply breathe. 26:40 Spend a little extra time with your friends and family 26:43 and engage in a real conversation 26:44 without a television blurring in the background. 26:49 The true key to living a temperate lifestyle 26:51 lies in our minds. 26:53 We need to learn to safeguard our thoughts 26:56 and carefully monitor our emotions. 26:59 If you are the type to give raise to angry easily 27:03 take a few deep breaths 27:04 and learn the power of forgiveness. 27:07 If you're prone to bragging give away 27:09 to more humble conversations. 27:12 If you are the judgmental type give compassion 27:14 or empathy a try. 27:17 Think if your mind is a springboard 27:19 for all of your actions. 27:21 If you can learn to use your mind carefully 27:24 and wisely you will have won the battle 27:27 against intemperance. 27:31 Well, friends, that's it for today 27:33 but joins us next week for another episode. 27:36 In the mean time pick up the phone 27:37 and give us a call at 800-525-9192. 27:43 Mention the NewStart Now program 27:46 and receive the NewStart special. |
