Thank you 00:10:17.42\00:10:18.51 God bless you too friends, but don't go away 00:10:18.57\00:10:19.87 Because we'll be back in just a moment 00:10:20.24\00:10:22.66 You've done very well 00:10:25.03\00:10:27.78 Do you have diabetes 00:10:32.24\00:10:33.78 Heart disease, high blood pressure 00:10:34.00\00:10:35.72 Or do you weigh too much 00:10:35.78\00:10:37.24 Hi, my name is Doctor Ing 00:10:38.15\00:10:39.78 I'd like to tell you about our 18 day 00:10:39.87\00:10:42.03 NEWSTART Lifestyle program 00:10:42.09\00:10:43.63 It includes a comprehensive medical evaluation 00:10:44.51\00:10:47.30 With laboratory studies 00:10:47.48\00:10:48.78 And a exercise stress test 00:10:48.84\00:10:50.54 Physician consultations 00:10:50.81\00:10:53.00 Culinary school 00:10:53.15\00:10:54.75 And an opportunity to walk on beautiful trails 00:10:55.12\00:10:58.30 On the foothills of the Sierra's 00:10:58.45\00:11:00.48 Your health is one of the most important things you have 00:11:02.42\00:11:05.18 Dont wait 00:11:05.19\00:11:06.21 Welcome back friends 00:11:30.63\00:11:31.72 And in our studios Doctor David DeRose 00:11:31.81\00:11:33.63 How are you David 00:11:33.78\00:11:34.78 -Wonderful 00:11:35.00\00:11:36.09 Good to see you 00:11:36.18\00:11:37.36 And I want to talk about this young lady 00:11:37.84\00:11:39.63 When she came here, I didn't think 00:11:39.78\00:11:41.84 She thought that much would change 00:11:42.00\00:11:44.45 -Well it's easy to have that sense when you've been home 00:11:44.48\00:11:47.36 And nothing seems to be making a difference 00:11:47.48\00:11:49.54 It's hard to know what to expect 00:11:49.69\00:11:51.57 When you come to a place you've never been to before 00:11:51.63\00:11:53.75 And now she can hardly contain herself 00:11:54.48\00:11:56.27 It's just amazing to see the Lord's work 00:11:56.81\00:11:58.84 In Lauren's life 00:11:59.03\00:12:00.03 So I wanted to ask you a question though 00:12:00.60\00:12:03.00 She mentioned something about her LDL 00:12:03.45\00:12:06.48 Being 217 00:12:07.24\00:12:09.39 I think that was... 00:12:09.54\00:12:11.09 - I think she misspoke it, in fact I know she did 00:12:11.21\00:12:13.12 - It was a 217 total cholesterol 00:12:13.27\00:12:15.60 That dropped 100 points 00:12:15.81\00:12:17.48 That makes more sense 00:12:17.78\00:12:18.84 But even that's phenomenal 00:12:19.03\00:12:20.24 It's huge, it's a huge improvement 00:12:20.36\00:12:22.21 Just really an underscore 00:12:22.81\00:12:24.84 Is how remarkable things can be 00:12:25.03\00:12:27.15 In just a couple of weeks when you get on a tremendous program 00:12:27.21\00:12:29.51 Now I know her ratio is probably fell more in line 00:12:30.15\00:12:33.78 As that came down 00:12:33.81\00:12:35.54 -You know we often get so preoccupied with the numbers 00:12:35.63\00:12:38.66 -But they're exciting to talk about 00:12:38.69\00:12:41.33 But let me kind of make a point this way 00:12:42.30\00:12:43.84 And what we typically see happen 00:12:44.03\00:12:46.15 And what we saw happen in Lauren's life 00:12:46.21\00:12:48.03 And in her numbers 00:12:48.09\00:12:49.57 Is we see... Like she pointed out 00:12:49.60\00:12:51.66 She went from abnormal in a number of areas 00:12:51.72\00:12:54.51 To normal 00:12:54.57\00:12:55.87 I'm glad you highlighted the cholesterol 00:12:56.00\00:12:57.54 Because some of my physician friends would say 00:12:57.60\00:12:59.15 "What is DeRose doing saying" 00:12:59.21\00:13:00.30 "A LDL of 117 is normal" 00:13:00.36\00:13:02.18 A total cholesterol of 117... 00:13:02.30\00:13:05.36 I mean that's tremendous 00:13:05.39\00:13:07.03 And this is off medications 00:13:07.06\00:13:08.15 You usually dont see that in clinical practice 00:13:08.24\00:13:10.48 We say 100 plus your age is ideal 00:13:10.60\00:13:14.00 And once you get to be 50, still below 150 00:13:14.06\00:13:16.63 For total cholesterol 00:13:16.69\00:13:17.78 We don't see too many people 00:13:17.81\00:13:19.36 Walk through our doors unmedicated 00:13:19.42\00:13:21.09 With those kind of numbers 00:13:21.15\00:13:22.51 Praise God 00:13:22.60\00:13:24.42 And so from your perspective 00:13:25.03\00:13:28.63 How did she do in other areas 00:13:29.30\00:13:31.54 Well, like you saw Lauren in her testimonial 00:13:32.18\00:13:35.60 The things that makes the most difference for people 00:13:35.87\00:13:38.69 As for as motivating them 00:13:38.72\00:13:40.15 The numbers make a huge difference 00:13:40.18\00:13:41.69 Seeing improvement in their stamina 00:13:41.75\00:13:43.54 But it's how they look 00:13:43.55\00:13:44.75 How they feel 00:13:44.81\00:13:45.87 How they function 00:13:46.06\00:13:47.15 Those are the things that in the research 00:13:47.18\00:13:48.81 Really keep people on a great program 00:13:48.84\00:13:51.30 I mean you may find your numbers better 00:13:51.51\00:13:54.09 And although there's some short term motivation 00:13:54.18\00:13:56.33 That is not as powerful as what you saw Lauren saying 00:13:56.36\00:13:59.18 "I feel like myself again" 00:13:59.24\00:14:00.69 "I'm like my old me" 00:14:00.75\00:14:02.09 That is really powerful 00:14:02.12\00:14:03.36 I know for me, my numbers didn't mean a whole lot to me 00:14:03.54\00:14:06.69 Not knowing much about anything 00:14:06.81\00:14:09.45 As it relates to medications 00:14:09.57\00:14:12.15 But I know I felt better 00:14:12.42\00:14:14.12 And I remember more then anything having hope 00:14:15.27\00:14:17.87 Every time I do an interview 00:14:18.66\00:14:20.21 It will be interesting to share this with you 00:14:20.27\00:14:22.09 I see that in the people I'm speaking with 00:14:22.15\00:14:24.78 When I see their eyes 00:14:24.84\00:14:26.81 And I see that they have hope 00:14:27.00\00:14:29.15 I know that we've done our job 00:14:29.24\00:14:31.45 The Lord is so gracious to work through us 00:14:32.30\00:14:34.60 In that healing process 00:14:34.69\00:14:36.24 It is just incredibile to work in a center 00:14:36.54\00:14:39.06 Where you've got people praying and working together 00:14:39.09\00:14:41.72 And you see God's blessing 00:14:41.84\00:14:43.30 In lives every single program 00:14:43.36\00:14:45.42 Doctor I'm going to touch on an area 00:14:45.60\00:14:47.30 That I don't know whether you're aware of or not 00:14:47.39\00:14:49.84 Or have any expertise 00:14:50.03\00:14:52.54 And evaluating because of... 00:14:52.57\00:14:55.12 Other than... 00:14:55.18\00:14:56.84 Well let me ask you in a different way 00:14:57.03\00:14:59.09 Does hope play an important role in the healing process 00:14:59.15\00:15:04.33 It actually does 00:15:04.57\00:15:06.27 There is incredible research looking at the Psychosocial 00:15:06.39\00:15:09.81 The environment that someone's in 00:15:10.42\00:15:12.48 Their mental status 00:15:12.54\00:15:14.45 The kind of individuals 00:15:14.51\00:15:16.15 Who are either supporting them or not supporting them 00:15:16.24\00:15:18.48 There's a whole body of literature 00:15:18.57\00:15:20.15 That really shows things like hope 00:15:20.21\00:15:22.30 Optimism and joy 00:15:22.36\00:15:24.75 Actually have a bearing on survival 00:15:24.78\00:15:27.84 When it comes to killing diseases 00:15:27.87\00:15:29.42 I remember some years ago reading a breast cancer study 00:15:29.48\00:15:32.33 I think they were looking not at hope 00:15:32.45\00:15:34.06 But at a related measure of joy 00:15:34.09\00:15:36.87 And the women who actually had more joy 00:15:37.03\00:15:39.30 They had better outcomes 00:15:39.33\00:15:41.18 They lived longer 00:15:41.24\00:15:42.33 So it's really powerful when we start speaking 00:15:42.39\00:15:44.33 About these mental variables 00:15:44.36\00:15:46.42 We address them here 00:15:46.45\00:15:47.54 Like you heard Lauren talking about our chaplain 00:15:47.57\00:15:50.24 It's a big part of the program 00:15:50.27\00:15:51.75 The fresh start component 00:15:51.81\00:15:53.33 As well as personal interviews 00:15:53.42\00:15:54.87 And then all of us on the staff 00:15:55.00\00:15:56.54 Taking a personal, spiritual interest 00:15:57.18\00:15:59.75 In those who come here 00:15:59.78\00:16:01.12 So then it is fair to say 00:16:01.66\00:16:03.54 That attitude in general 00:16:03.63\00:16:06.03 Can help heal someone who is maybe at the end of their road 00:16:06.12\00:16:10.63 Oh, there is no question. Absolutely no question. 00:16:10.72\00:16:13.24 - Is that something you deliberately implant or suggest 00:16:13.30\00:16:18.66 Or work with your patients with 00:16:18.72\00:16:22.51 I think it comes through clearly in the program 00:16:22.63\00:16:24.48 And it's going to depend on the patient 00:16:24.54\00:16:26.09 How much we tend to emphasize certain things 00:16:26.15\00:16:28.69 But I think as people go through the program 00:16:28.72\00:16:30.75 And we're talking about spiritual subjects 00:16:30.78\00:16:33.39 We're talking about mental health subjects 00:16:33.45\00:16:36.06 And I think for most people 00:16:36.24\00:16:39.12 Those dots get connected in the program 00:16:39.15\00:16:41.18 And they realize the difference that actually makes 00:16:41.21\00:16:44.09 Now I know Lauren lost some weight 00:16:44.45\00:16:46.60 And again people like to see numbers right 00:16:47.69\00:16:50.63 But are they any other areas 00:16:50.81\00:16:53.48 That you can share with us 00:16:54.18\00:16:56.39 About the changes that she went through 00:16:56.42\00:16:58.51 I think one of the obvious things that people are asking 00:16:58.69\00:17:01.24 You know she came with this benign tumor 00:17:01.27\00:17:03.39 It's called an acoustic neuroma 00:17:03.45\00:17:05.30 And well you might say a benign tumor 00:17:05.39\00:17:07.69 You know a lump, bump, that's what a tumor is 00:17:08.12\00:17:10.21 It's a growth or a lump 00:17:10.24\00:17:11.57 You know who cares if you have a lump or a tumor 00:17:11.60\00:17:14.03 -But it's in her brain. That's the problem 00:17:14.15\00:17:16.24 That's right, that's a problem 00:17:16.25\00:17:17.87 If you got a lump or bump on the acoustic nerves 00:17:18.12\00:17:20.78 The nerve for hearing or in the brain area 00:17:20.81\00:17:23.30 There's no place for it to go 00:17:23.36\00:17:25.12 And so these things can be very devastating 00:17:25.21\00:17:28.12 If they keep growing 00:17:28.15\00:17:29.42 The obvious question is she feeling better 00:17:29.45\00:17:32.03 Her symptoms have improved 00:17:32.09\00:17:33.57 It seemed to be related to this 00:17:33.63\00:17:35.00 Has the tumor actually shrunk 00:17:35.03\00:17:36.48 And the answer is I dont't know 00:17:36.51\00:17:38.24 Because we didn't do imaging of that tumor 00:17:38.33\00:17:41.27 Before she came and as she is leaving 00:17:41.30\00:17:43.54 But the answer that I would give to people 00:17:43.60\00:17:45.81 If they're dealing with issues like that 00:17:46.00\00:17:48.30 Not whether we have the solution to every problem 00:17:48.84\00:17:52.00 But when we cooperate with God 00:17:52.27\00:17:54.03 When we get on a more optimal lifestyle 00:17:54.04\00:17:55.75 We often see God bless supernaturally 00:17:55.81\00:17:58.36 Above and beyond even what I as a physician 00:17:58.37\00:18:00.51 Could demonstrate or prove 00:18:00.54\00:18:02.84 Based on the research literature 00:18:03.00\00:18:04.81 I love to hear you say that 00:18:05.48\00:18:07.30 It's so true, I watch it time and time again 00:18:07.75\00:18:10.63 Just cooperating with 00:18:10.69\00:18:12.69 The instructions He gave us to clearly 00:18:13.12\00:18:15.54 And where did we see those instructions doctor 00:18:15.66\00:18:18.39 Well, it's clearly spelled out in God's word 00:18:18.87\00:18:21.18 Amen 00:18:21.21\00:18:22.24 It's amazing to me as a physician 00:18:22.75\00:18:24.48 Because sometimes God sends me people 00:18:24.54\00:18:26.06 I'm really wondering why did He send them 00:18:26.12\00:18:28.60 What can I do for them 00:18:28.66\00:18:30.12 You bring them back to those principles 00:18:30.15\00:18:31.81 And God often blesses remarkably 00:18:31.87\00:18:33.72 I am a layman as you know 00:18:34.09\00:18:36.00 I'm not a doctor, for our viewers 00:18:36.06\00:18:38.27 Please believe me 00:18:38.30\00:18:39.78 But I think that the program will heal most things 00:18:40.81\00:18:44.30 And I don't think you can say that 00:18:44.75\00:18:47.39 -Yea, I definitely wouldn't say that as a physician 00:18:47.45\00:18:50.09 But God works through the program 00:18:50.15\00:18:52.03 There's natural laws that are at work 00:18:52.12\00:18:54.15 We follow healthier lifestyle habits 00:18:54.18\00:18:56.36 They're definitely operative 00:18:56.39\00:18:58.18 And then I believe beyond that 00:18:58.21\00:18:59.69 God adds spiritual blessings 00:18:59.75\00:19:02.00 We're trying to cooperate with Him 00:19:02.03\00:19:03.45 We're asking for His blessing 00:19:03.48\00:19:05.03 So I think there's those two dimensions there 00:19:05.09\00:19:06.87 And there's no limit 00:19:07.06\00:19:09.00 To what God can do in a context 00:19:09.06\00:19:11.03 Where people are trying to cooperate with Him 00:19:11.12\00:19:13.21 So doctor when Lauren goes home 00:19:13.69\00:19:16.18 Will she be able to contact you in the future 00:19:16.24\00:19:19.87 To ask for your advice 00:19:20.03\00:19:22.18 I try to encourage all my patients that I'm accesible 00:19:22.27\00:19:24.42 But I tell them look 00:19:24.48\00:19:26.09 If I dont get with you in a prompt time 00:19:26.15\00:19:28.12 keep bothering me 00:19:28.15\00:19:29.33 Most of them have not given up 00:19:29.36\00:19:31.06 I'm thinking of maybe one or two of them that may have 00:19:31.09\00:19:33.42 Sometimes things get stacked up for us as physicians 00:19:33.48\00:19:36.12 And not just like you can call anytime 00:19:36.21\00:19:38.54 And we're going to drop whatever we are doing 00:19:38.60\00:19:41.15 Doesn't matter if we're with a patient or doing a stress test 00:19:41.18\00:19:43.84 And we'll be right on the phone with you 00:19:44.03\00:19:45.72 So I don't want to make claims like that 00:19:45.81\00:19:48.09 And sometimes we're on the road 00:19:48.15\00:19:49.72 So I always... 00:19:49.81\00:19:51.54 As my patients are walking out the door on their last visit 00:19:52.00\00:19:54.30 I'm typically saying, you're my friend 00:19:54.42\00:19:56.81 And I tell all my friends, keep bothering me 00:19:56.87\00:19:59.27 If you haven't heard back at a appropriate time 00:19:59.33\00:20:01.39 Because we want to answer your questions 00:20:01.45\00:20:03.69 We want to help you be successful 00:20:03.75\00:20:05.18 And I want to add something to that 00:20:05.42\00:20:07.63 When I first called here some ten years ago 00:20:07.84\00:20:11.12 I left a message to speak to one of the doctors 00:20:11.21\00:20:13.72 And of course Dr.Ing called me about 10 o'clock at night 00:20:13.84\00:20:18.09 And we spoke for at least an hour on the phone 00:20:18.48\00:20:21.21 And my own personal doctor never did that 00:20:21.30\00:20:24.12 So it's true, that the doctors here do take the time 00:20:24.42\00:20:28.72 To chat with patients 00:20:28.81\00:20:30.54 Even with people who aren't patients 00:20:30.60\00:20:32.87 That want to ask questions 00:20:33.03\00:20:34.87 What can I do about this, that or the other thing 00:20:35.03\00:20:37.12 We definitely want people to know 00:20:37.57\00:20:39.69 If you're tuning in that 00:20:39.75\00:20:41.06 That's also available for you 00:20:41.07\00:20:42.66 If you give a call on our 800 number 00:20:42.72\00:20:44.45 If you got questions, whether this program 00:20:44.48\00:20:46.18 Or something else can help you 00:20:46.21\00:20:47.69 We want to be available 00:20:47.78\00:20:49.06 Yes, and our 800 number is 00:20:49.18\00:20:50.87 Doctor I want to thank you for joining us 00:20:54.36\00:20:56.84 God bless you and the work you do here at Weimar 00:20:57.00\00:20:59.18 Thank you friends, don't go away we have a tip for you 00:20:59.33\00:21:02.84 I'm Don Mackintosh 00:22:22.27\00:22:24.12 And we have with us today Doctor Galen Comstock 00:22:24.15\00:22:28.30 He's a specialist in family practice 00:22:28.36\00:22:30.42 And you've also been doing some research about 00:22:30.48\00:22:32.72 Preventive medicine subjects 00:22:32.78\00:22:34.78 Like we're going to talk about today 00:22:34.81\00:22:36.42 And what we're going to talk about today 00:22:36.75\00:22:38.48 Is how long can a person really live 00:22:38.51\00:22:40.48 Yes, that's a good question 00:22:40.60\00:22:42.39 Because the average today in America is about 78 years old 00:22:42.45\00:22:46.60 But some people have actually been recorded 00:22:46.66\00:22:49.66 The oldest person, I looked it up on the internet 00:22:49.69\00:22:51.57 I can live to be about 122 years old 00:22:51.63\00:22:53.60 And a lot of people are living between 00:22:54.18\00:22:56.66 110 and 120 00:22:56.72\00:22:58.54 There is quite a few people that are living that long 00:22:58.63\00:23:00.36 So something's wrong, right Don? 00:23:00.39\00:23:02.24 Well isn't that a change. It used to be a 100 years ago 00:23:02.66\00:23:04.72 People wouldn't even live to be 30 or 40. What happened? 00:23:04.78\00:23:07.15 Well yea, 38 years old in the 18th century people were dying 00:23:07.39\00:23:10.15 That was the average age 00:23:10.18\00:23:11.84 I think we have increased baby survival 00:23:12.03\00:23:16.39 Increased women dying during pregnancy 00:23:16.48\00:23:19.36 That was another big problem 00:23:19.42\00:23:21.30 Ok, a lot of them died, and we're not having as much 00:23:21.51\00:23:23.66 But also I think the fact that we have 00:23:24.12\00:23:26.33 Easier lifestyle 00:23:26.42\00:23:27.66 We have more nutritional availability 00:23:27.84\00:23:31.42 And things like that 00:23:31.45\00:23:32.54 But we're also facing the fact that 00:23:32.57\00:23:34.27 You know we have a lot of chronic diseases 00:23:34.63\00:23:36.36 If we could eliminate those chronic diseases 00:23:36.39\00:23:37.84 We could live a lot longer 00:23:37.87\00:23:39.00 So you told me that there are 3 major groups 00:23:39.12\00:23:41.18 That are living those long time periods 00:23:41.21\00:23:43.06 Tell me a little bit about them 00:23:43.09\00:23:44.57 Well I just happen to watch this 00:23:44.66\00:23:46.48 National Geographic episode 00:23:46.51\00:23:48.66 And it talked about Seventh Day Adventist 00:23:48.72\00:23:51.18 Sardinians and Okinawans 00:23:51.21\00:23:54.21 - And why do you suppose their living much longer 00:23:54.27\00:23:56.54 Well the guy that did this research showed that 00:23:56.60\00:23:58.81 They were eating a great plant based diet 00:23:58.84\00:24:01.33 They were exercising more than the average person 00:24:01.48\00:24:04.87 Especially those who among that group 00:24:05.00\00:24:06.87 Who are living the longest 00:24:07.03\00:24:08.36 But as a group they did live longer 00:24:08.39\00:24:10.30 And they had good social connections 00:24:10.54\00:24:12.66 They had a religious type of life 00:24:12.69\00:24:14.48 They were taking time for their family 00:24:14.51\00:24:17.18 Things like that 00:24:17.21\00:24:18.63 You mention also that they usually don't drink alcohol 00:24:19.42\00:24:21.78 They don't drink a lot of alcohol, if any at all 00:24:22.12\00:24:24.18 Some of these groups don't 00:24:24.27\00:24:25.51 Some people that are more strict in these groups do not 00:24:25.54\00:24:29.39 And is this the kind of food that they are eating 00:24:30.00\00:24:31.45 Yes, their eating that plant based diet 00:24:31.51\00:24:33.36 And that's restricting the meat 00:24:33.42\00:24:35.06 It's restricting the amount of 00:24:35.57\00:24:38.12 dairy products that you are taking in 00:24:38.13\00:24:39.69 So their getting a lot of Phytochemicals 00:24:39.81\00:24:41.81 A lot of plant based diet 00:24:41.84\00:24:43.27 Lot of nuts and grains 00:24:43.33\00:24:44.87 And that increases longevity 00:24:45.03\00:24:47.24 By decreasing oxidation in your body 00:24:47.27\00:24:50.36 By decreasing those degenerating diseases 00:24:50.45\00:24:52.75 Keeping the arteries cleaned out 00:24:52.81\00:24:54.48 It's excellent 00:24:54.54\00:24:56.09 Couple that with exercise and it's a great lifestyle 00:24:56.15\00:24:58.45 One of the things you said was that 00:24:58.87\00:25:00.81 They usually don't over eat 00:25:00.84\00:25:03.18 That is a very important thing that they shown experimentally 00:25:04.27\00:25:08.15 Back in 1934, Cornell University 00:25:08.21\00:25:10.87 The first experiments ever done on mice and rats 00:25:11.27\00:25:15.12 They found that if they restricted their diets severely 00:25:15.27\00:25:18.42 Not enough to keep them from having enough nutrition 00:25:18.48\00:25:21.33 They can live up to twice as long 00:25:21.36\00:25:23.42 I saw a data any where between 40 to 100 percent 00:25:23.48\00:25:27.30 Longer life in these rats 00:25:27.36\00:25:29.15 Not only that, they were more active 00:25:29.18\00:25:30.69 They looked younger 00:25:30.78\00:25:32.30 If you want to live longer, don't eat as much 00:25:32.87\00:25:36.57 Don't eat as much, there you go 00:25:36.66\00:25:38.66 What you said here, as you were talking is that 00:25:38.75\00:25:42.00 The research shows that you need to stop eating 00:25:42.12\00:25:44.39 While you're still hungry 00:25:44.45\00:25:46.27 That's the best way 00:25:46.36\00:25:48.09 Pull away from the table when you're about 80 percent full 00:25:48.12\00:25:51.36 Whatever that is 00:25:51.45\00:25:52.84 Stay a little bit hungry 00:25:53.03\00:25:54.66 So stop talking when people are still listening 00:25:54.72\00:25:56.39 And stop eating when you're still hungry 00:25:56.45\00:25:58.06 I like that one, that's great 00:25:58.18\00:26:00.06 What about smoking, any connections there 00:26:00.18\00:26:02.60 Oh yea, that's probably the most devastating health habit 00:26:03.09\00:26:05.57 Other than maybe just gorging yourself on fatty foods 00:26:05.63\00:26:08.36 Which is probably just as bad 00:26:08.42\00:26:10.24 Smoking each cigarette can take up to 00:26:10.36\00:26:12.51 11 to 13 minutes off your life, data shows 00:26:12.63\00:26:15.33 In fact some people 00:26:15.48\00:26:17.03 Can have a 25 percent reduction in their longevity 00:26:17.15\00:26:20.57 Up to 21 years 00:26:20.69\00:26:22.36 - Just by smoking 00:26:22.42\00:26:24.36 High protein diets 00:26:24.48\00:26:25.69 High protein diets have been touted to help you lose weight 00:26:26.00\00:26:28.72 You know maybe even to control blood sugars 00:26:28.81\00:26:31.06 In the long run they can cause kidney disease 00:26:31.21\00:26:33.84 They can cause Atherosclerosis 00:26:34.12\00:26:35.63 Especially animal protein 00:26:36.00\00:26:37.30 They show to lay down plaque in the arteries 00:26:37.39\00:26:39.45 So you wouldn't want to go that route 00:26:39.51\00:26:40.78 So high protein diets might make you lose weight 00:26:41.03\00:26:43.57 And also lose your life to soon 00:26:43.69\00:26:45.45 Yea it can shorten your life 00:26:45.63\00:26:47.03 Especially animal protein 00:26:47.09\00:26:48.51 Remember those Okinawans and Seventh Day Adventist 00:26:48.60\00:26:50.75 And these other groups that live longer 00:26:51.36\00:26:53.15 Ate a lot of this plant based diet 00:26:53.27\00:26:56.30 That's the main thing. And calorie restriction 00:26:56.36\00:26:58.45 That's another very important issue 00:26:58.57\00:27:00.33 So eat the right things and don't eat too much 00:27:00.48\00:27:02.45 Don't eat too little 00:27:02.48\00:27:03.78 You know 00:27:04.09\00:27:05.09 But get all the right colors 00:27:06.00\00:27:07.09 Just like your mother said 00:27:07.12\00:27:08.30 Like red, yellow and all those different colors 00:27:08.81\00:27:11.48 And if you're eating a plant based diet it's not as dense 00:27:11.57\00:27:14.30 As the milkshakes and candy bars 00:27:14.31\00:27:16.15 So we have stuff about this on our website newstartclub.com 00:27:16.39\00:27:19.39 You can go there and look more fully 00:27:19.42\00:27:21.48 At these foods that would make you live longer 00:27:21.49\00:27:24.48 And also these habits 00:27:24.51\00:27:25.87 We're glad that you're with us. -Thank You 00:27:26.00\00:27:27.54 And we're glad that you've joined us 00:27:27.60\00:27:29.27 Go to that website and get more information 00:27:29.30\00:27:30.75 We hope that as a result of today 00:27:30.81\00:27:32.57 You will have a new start 00:27:32.60\00:27:34.15 That starts at home and last for a very long time 00:27:34.18\00:27:37.24 Well friends, that's it for today 00:27:44.39\00:27:45.69 Thank you for joining us 00:27:45.72\00:27:47.36 Pick up the phone and give us a call 00:27:47.48\00:27:49.12 I assure you, you will be glad that you did 00:27:54.51\00:27:56.30 So pick up the phone.
