Yes. 00:02:40.42\00:02:43.12 Now what about the weight? 00:02:43.13\00:02:45.18 How are you doing with your weight? 00:02:45.19\00:02:46.20 The weight, I have lost eight pounds 00:02:46.21\00:02:48.27 and I haven't weighed the third time, 00:02:48.28\00:02:50.49 maybe I'll lose another kind of couple of pounds 00:02:50.50\00:02:52.67 and that would make me happy. Yes. 00:07:55.93\00:07:58.22 Thankful for that. 00:07:58.23\00:07:59.24 And how about the exercise therapist 00:07:59.25\00:08:02.69 and the dietician? 00:08:02.70\00:08:03.75 We keep going here, we got a lot of people 00:08:03.76\00:08:05.95 to talk about. 00:08:05.96\00:08:06.93 Oh man, the dietician, she was great 00:08:06.94\00:08:11.32 and we learned a lot, we had food classes, 00:08:11.33\00:08:16.19 she made us start up some recipes 00:08:16.20\00:08:18.51 and they even tasted good after we got done. 00:08:18.52\00:08:21.69 And you fix them yourself? 00:08:21.70\00:08:22.69 Yeah, this is what's great, you know. 00:08:22.70\00:08:25.84 They handed us a nice recipe book, 00:08:25.85\00:08:28.19 so we can use them when we get out of here. 00:08:28.20\00:08:30.64 And I think that'll be a good deal, 00:08:30.65\00:08:34.43 a guide line to show us what we can use when we 00:08:34.44\00:08:38.34 get home to sustain our lifestyle the way we should. 00:08:38.35\00:08:42.76 And your exercise therapist, Rich Smith, 00:08:42.77\00:08:46.91 did you get some time to visit with him? 00:08:46.92\00:08:49.32 Yes, about three times. 00:08:49.33\00:08:51.13 Yes, did he put you on a schedule? 00:08:51.14\00:08:53.68 He put me on a schedule, he said, 00:08:53.69\00:08:56.00 if we can get about three hours a day 00:08:56.01\00:08:58.49 of exercise you'll be in good shape and I've been. 00:08:58.50\00:09:01.83 Three hours a day? Three miles a day. 00:09:01.84\00:09:04.89 Oh, three miles. Yes, three miles a day. 00:09:04.90\00:09:07.50 We don't want to scare them now. 00:09:07.51\00:09:10.19 Three hours a day, wow. 00:09:10.20\00:09:12.04 About three miles a day, that's some other people 00:09:12.05\00:09:16.56 had been going more than that. 00:09:16.57\00:09:17.60 But, I tried to get it right around three miles a day. 00:09:17.61\00:09:21.03 And that works out pretty good for me. 00:09:21.04\00:09:23.67 Le, would you tell your age? 00:14:48.15\00:14:49.59 Well it's really not, part of the challenge 00:14:49.60\00:14:52.57 with diagnosis is sometimes people do come 00:14:52.58\00:14:56.11 with problems that are not all that clear, 00:14:56.12\00:14:58.42 they may not have been diagnosed by their 00:14:58.43\00:15:00.36 primary care doctor or even multiple specialists. 00:15:00.37\00:15:03.66 The thing we do know is that lifestyle 00:15:03.67\00:15:06.48 is extremely powerful. 00:15:06.49\00:15:07.77 So if someone comes with five problems, 00:15:07.78\00:15:09.86 maybe they've got coronary artery disease, 00:15:09.87\00:15:12.32 maybe they've got arthritis, 00:15:12.33\00:15:13.49 maybe they've got high blood pressure, 00:15:13.50\00:15:14.98 maybe weight problems, maybe diabetes. 00:15:14.99\00:15:16.57 We do have a number of known diagnoses 00:15:16.58\00:15:19.16 we are dealing with, but maybe they've got some 00:15:19.17\00:15:20.92 muscular skeletal pain that has not been diagnosed. 00:15:20.93\00:15:24.58 Well, we don't have to say, 00:15:24.59\00:15:26.18 well because we don't know exactly 00:15:26.19\00:15:28.61 what's causing this pain, whether it's nerve 00:15:28.62\00:15:31.18 impingement, something pushing on a nerve, 00:15:31.19\00:15:33.14 whether it's Fibromyalgia, 00:15:33.15\00:15:35.33 whether it's a Rheumatologic condition. 00:15:35.34\00:15:37.82 We don't have to put everything on hold 00:15:37.83\00:15:40.01 to deal with the diagnoses that has been somewhat 00:15:40.02\00:15:44.78 illusive, we could say look at the program 00:15:44.79\00:15:48.06 we've got here, we're going to tell our 00:15:48.07\00:15:49.17 program for all the things we know you are dealing with? That's correct. 00:22:43.34\00:22:45.42 And one of things we've been talking about is 00:22:45.43\00:22:48.89 the lack of hydration people have, 00:22:48.90\00:22:52.50 they're not drinking a lot of water or maybe 00:22:52.51\00:22:54.46 some people drank too much, 00:22:54.47\00:22:55.70 but we want to about water today, 00:22:55.71\00:22:57.49 how important it is? 00:22:57.50\00:22:58.47 It's extremely important, 00:22:58.48\00:23:00.07 there is studies showing that for heart health 00:23:00.08\00:23:03.52 it's actually about as important as many 00:23:03.53\00:23:06.08 of the other common treatments 00:23:06.09\00:23:07.67 that we have for heart disease. 00:23:07.68\00:23:10.07 By making sure you get adequate amount versus 00:23:10.08\00:23:13.90 those people who are in low in the difference, 00:23:13.91\00:23:15.85 need is about 50% reduction and risk of heart attack. 00:23:15.86\00:23:21.34 And that's probably because the blood gets 00:23:21.35\00:23:23.83 more viscous and more sticky and maybe causes 00:23:23.84\00:23:26.21 the coronary events. 00:23:26.22\00:23:27.23 We're not entirely sure, but that's probably 00:23:27.24\00:23:29.28 at least part of the reason. 00:23:29.29\00:23:30.61 I'm guessing there's probably more parts, 00:23:30.62\00:23:32.28 more to reasons. Okay. 00:23:32.29\00:23:33.42 So what kind of water should we drink, 00:23:33.43\00:23:36.64 just tap water, distilled water. 00:23:36.65\00:23:38.33 I mean, there is all of kinds of exotic. 00:23:38.34\00:23:40.13 I go to the store and I can spend, 00:23:40.14\00:23:41.21 I can see a bottle that, you know, 00:23:41.22\00:23:42.93 cost me a $1.72 or I don't know, you know, 00:23:42.94\00:23:46.50 a buck, and then I can find this exotic water 00:23:46.51\00:23:48.53 that's, you know, I'm not saying 10 bucks. 00:23:48.54\00:23:50.84 But there is a big vast variation and they all 00:23:50.85\00:23:53.91 have different labels and stuff, 00:23:53.92\00:23:55.18 how do I navigate that? 00:23:55.19\00:23:56.16 The first thing that I like to point out 00:23:56.17\00:23:58.40 is regardless of the type of the water, 00:23:58.41\00:24:00.13 getting enough water that's the number one 00:24:00.14\00:24:02.01 message, first and foremost. 00:24:02.02\00:24:03.35 When it comes to the type of water there have 00:24:03.36\00:24:06.62 been a number of different studies done on this. 00:24:06.63\00:24:10.61 And again, make sure you get water. 00:24:10.62\00:24:15.38 The, probably one of the more unhealthy forms 00:24:15.39\00:24:18.15 of water is actually distilled water. 00:24:18.16\00:24:20.23 I know this is going to come as a surprise 00:24:20.24\00:24:22.51 and perhaps concern to some of the listeners. 00:24:22.52\00:24:25.66 But what distilled water does is it separates out 00:24:25.67\00:24:28.72 the minerals from the water and what we're 00:24:28.73\00:24:31.43 finding now is those minerals are there for 00:24:31.44\00:24:33.27 a reason in particular cardiac health. 00:24:33.28\00:24:36.15 So tap water is good then after all. 00:24:36.16\00:24:39.23 Depends on the local environment in terms, 00:24:39.24\00:24:42.24 like if there's chemicals in there. 00:24:42.25\00:24:43.99 I think many of us have chosen to go with water 00:24:44.00\00:24:47.18 that's like from a stream source, you know, 00:24:47.19\00:24:49.09 mountain water. 00:24:49.10\00:24:50.21 And then what about filtered with charcoal? 00:24:50.22\00:24:52.39 It's probably better, because it does take out 00:24:52.40\00:24:56.69 some of the chlorine and some of the other substances. 00:24:56.70\00:24:59.92 Okay, so how much water should I drink, 00:24:59.93\00:25:04.02 I always hear this six to eight glasses, 00:25:04.03\00:25:06.43 is that valid or how do you tell? 00:25:06.44\00:25:09.15 The problem is that people come in different 00:25:09.16\00:25:12.03 sizes, they have different needs 00:25:12.04\00:25:13.89 and if it's a hot day versus if you're exercising. 00:25:13.90\00:25:16.37 It's, you know, six to eight glasses is maybe 00:25:16.38\00:25:19.33 a good rule of thumb. 00:25:19.34\00:25:20.31 But I think, far better is to actually sort 00:25:20.32\00:25:23.38 of let your urine actually be the guide in terms 00:25:23.39\00:25:27.18 of how much that you should get. 00:25:27.19\00:25:28.54 So my urine being the guide. Yes. 00:25:28.55\00:25:31.61 Somewhat of an interesting... 00:25:31.62\00:25:33.30 never thought of being led around about my urine. 00:25:33.31\00:25:35.19 But, what you do mean by this? 00:25:35.20\00:25:36.51 What do you mean by urine being guide? 00:25:36.52\00:25:38.81 Yeah, as we pee in the toilet, 00:25:38.82\00:25:41.25 as you take a look at the color 00:25:41.26\00:25:42.60 of your urine in the toilet. 00:25:42.61\00:25:44.91 It's pretty straight forward, 00:25:44.92\00:25:46.45 but something that we need to really pay 00:25:46.46\00:25:48.01 attention to it and if it's really dark yellow 00:25:48.02\00:25:50.06 or not getting enough water, 00:25:50.07\00:25:53.01 if it's clear then we knows, 00:25:53.02\00:25:54.81 we're doing a good job. 00:25:54.82\00:25:55.79 So it should be as close to clear as possible. 00:25:55.80\00:25:57.97 Really that's true, that's true. 00:25:57.98\00:25:59.79 And if you're seeing that it's not, then you to... 00:25:59.80\00:26:02.20 I need to drink, you know, two, three, 00:26:02.21\00:26:04.45 four more glasses. 00:26:04.46\00:26:05.43 Get more water, but the problem is that urine 00:26:05.44\00:26:06.87 comes at the end. 00:26:06.88\00:26:08.79 In other words, it's what you should have 00:26:08.80\00:26:10.04 been doing before? 00:26:10.05\00:26:11.02 So how can you make sure that you're getting enough? 00:26:11.03\00:26:13.22 What you can do is you can use urine 00:26:13.23\00:26:14.88 as a general guide, you say oh boy, 00:26:14.89\00:26:16.91 I'm just it's a reminder, 00:26:16.92\00:26:18.27 I'm not getting enough water, 00:26:18.28\00:26:19.31 so I need to do things to be able help get 00:26:19.32\00:26:22.64 enough water as evidenced by clear urine. 00:26:22.65\00:26:25.68 Okay, so I get my water bottle, 00:26:25.69\00:26:28.22 can the water be damaged at all by being 00:26:28.23\00:26:30.53 in the sun and in a plastic bottle; 00:26:30.54\00:26:32.09 is there anything that... tell us about that? 00:26:32.10\00:26:34.76 Yeah, there are significant concerns 00:26:34.77\00:26:36.23 about certain substances within plastics, 00:26:36.27\00:26:39.98 the harder the plastic the better. 00:26:39.99\00:26:41.52 For me, actually, I got a stainless steel 00:26:41.53\00:26:44.55 container or a glass container is probably, 00:26:44.56\00:26:49.14 you know, safer ways to store. 00:26:49.15\00:26:51.85 And if you have it in the sun, 00:26:51.86\00:26:54.55 if it's in a plastic bottle, 00:26:54.56\00:26:56.16 that's probably not good. 00:26:56.19\00:26:57.16 There are certain chemicals that can sort 00:26:57.17\00:26:58.42 of leech into the water, but if it's in glass or 00:26:58.43\00:27:00.83 you know something that's not going 00:27:00.84\00:27:02.87 to leech out that's better. 00:27:02.88\00:27:03.99 So the most important thing is get water. Yes. 00:27:04.00\00:27:06.53 And get enough water based on six to eight 00:27:06.54\00:27:09.62 glasses is rule of the thumb, 00:27:09.63\00:27:10.73 but really look at urine to see if it's clear or not. 00:27:10.74\00:27:13.31 Make sure you're getting the best kind of water 00:27:13.32\00:27:16.76 in terms of the container. 00:27:16.77\00:27:19.32 So that you don't have an interaction. 00:27:19.33\00:27:20.82 But the real bottom line is, 00:27:20.83\00:27:22.83 makes sure and get water, 00:27:22.84\00:27:23.99 you really need water.
