The 00:12:48.30\00:12:50.45 tiredness is all gone! I feel so good!" 00:12:50.46\00:12:53.54 Did you give her a pick and shovel right then and there? 00:12:54.51\00:12:56.78 And so she came back today and 00:12:57.69\00:13:01.24 reaffirmed that it was God and she feels so much better. 00:13:01.30\00:13:05.66 Isn't that wonderful? 00:13:05.67\00:13:06.69 She said, "You know, before 00:13:06.70\00:13:08.51 I'd eat lunch and be so tired I'd have to go take a nap." 00:13:09.57\00:13:13.06 I said, "Well how about now, do you have to do that now?" 00:13:13.07\00:13:15.36 She said, "No." 00:13:15.37\00:13:16.36 And I said, "What's your energy level now? 00:13:16.78\00:13:20.60 0 being you're so tired you can't get out of bed 00:13:20.61\00:13:24.81 and 10 being you can go forever." 00:13:25.21\00:13:26.66 She said, "Well, I'm like 9." 00:13:26.67\00:13:29.15 I said, "Well that's marvelous." 00:13:29.24\00:13:31.18 And so she's just kind of bubbling over. 00:13:31.48\00:13:35.21 She's also had problems with some 00:13:35.22\00:13:37.30 headaches which have bothered her and 00:13:37.51\00:13:39.60 they're remarkably deminished in intensity. 00:13:39.84\00:13:43.12 Now her head's a little bit 00:13:43.13\00:13:44.12 heavy but not like it was before. 00:13:44.13\00:13:46.24 Praise God. 00:13:46.25\00:13:47.27 And she was also talking about 00:13:47.28\00:13:49.45 the pains associated with fibromyalgia you 00:13:50.30\00:13:52.45 know the muscles and so on 00:13:52.46\00:13:54.09 just ached and hurt all the time. 00:13:54.10\00:13:56.72 That's much, much better, much relief there so she's 00:13:57.66\00:14:02.51 as you would say in the colloquial, 00:14:03.06\00:14:04.57 a very happy camper. 00:14:04.58\00:14:05.69 Yes. 00:14:05.70\00:14:07.12 I've noticed that when I'm talk to her, 00:14:07.36\00:14:09.60 I've gotten the opportunity to 00:14:09.61\00:14:11.60 chat with her periodically as 00:14:11.61\00:14:13.57 we're walking around the trails here. 00:14:13.58\00:14:16.06 So what is it, again there seems to be 00:14:16.45\00:14:20.78 an ingrediant that fixes most all things. 00:14:22.30\00:14:26.21 Is that fair to say? 00:14:26.57\00:14:27.63 Well, yes, and probably the ingrediant you're 00:14:28.15\00:14:31.81 talking about is God's healing and restoring power. 00:14:31.82\00:14:34.72 Amen. 00:14:34.73\00:14:35.72 But to enable God's healing 00:14:35.73\00:14:37.39 and restoring power to take place 00:14:37.40\00:14:39.57 it's going to work best if we follow the rules and guidelines. 00:14:40.06\00:14:44.51 And when you eat the right foods and get the rest you need 00:14:44.75\00:14:53.42 and when you drink water and of course 00:14:53.57\00:14:56.57 the blessings of hydrotherapy and 00:14:56.72\00:14:58.87 message are very important as well because 00:14:58.88\00:15:01.63 what those individuals do 00:15:02.06\00:15:03.24 when they get their treatments is 00:15:03.25\00:15:04.78 if people have aches and pains and sore muscles, 00:15:04.84\00:15:08.06 as many of our guests do, 00:15:08.33\00:15:10.06 those treatments, the hydrotherapist, 00:15:11.36\00:15:14.06 message therapist, and everything working together 00:15:14.07\00:15:17.45 as they pray with the patients before the treatments 00:15:17.46\00:15:20.45 and as the Lord blesses these treatments 00:15:20.51\00:15:22.63 they get what we call supernatural results. 00:15:22.64\00:15:26.42 When I learned about hydrotherapy many years ago 00:15:26.78\00:15:29.57 we had some classes in which we studied and learned 00:15:30.84\00:15:35.06 one of the things the instructor impressed us with, 00:15:37.06\00:15:39.30 he said, "The most important 00:15:39.31\00:15:41.06 part of your treatment is the 00:15:41.48\00:15:43.54 prayer before you give the treatment." 00:15:43.55\00:15:46.06 Wow. 00:15:46.07\00:15:47.06 And that's really true because when you do that 00:15:47.09\00:15:50.42 you ask the Lord to bless what's 00:15:50.43\00:15:51.87 done and you get supernatural results 00:15:51.88\00:15:53.75 with very simple but ordinary 00:15:53.76\00:15:56.39 physiologic methods and it 00:15:56.69\00:15:58.42 does make a fantastic difference. 00:15:58.43\00:16:00.57 So is there something you can say to our viewers? Now you said 00:16:01.09\00:16:05.60 that before you do anything you pray and ask the Lord's presence 00:16:05.84\00:16:11.51 What can people do at home that 00:16:11.72\00:16:15.84 could help change their lives? These people that are tired 00:16:16.15\00:16:19.51 like Benita was when she got here. 00:16:19.84\00:16:22.09 Well I think it's really important for a person who 00:16:22.39\00:16:24.54 has symptoms like fatigue to go on a totally plant based diet. 00:16:24.55\00:16:29.09 No meat, no fish, no chicken, no eggs, no dairy products. 00:16:29.30\00:16:33.06 I would also encourage them to eliminate refined sugars 00:16:33.27\00:16:38.48 and no soft drinks, no coffee, tea, tobacco, and alcohol. 00:16:38.49\00:16:43.24 Make sure they get adequate rest and 00:16:43.45\00:16:45.21 when they wake up in the morning have 00:16:45.22\00:16:48.66 lots of water, when I get up in the morning I 00:16:49.06\00:16:52.72 like to drink a couple nice big glasses of water, 00:16:52.73\00:16:55.48 and then you go back and you can have some 00:16:55.75\00:16:58.42 nice quiet time with God for your devotions. 00:16:58.43\00:17:01.75 Then after you've done that 00:17:02.06\00:17:04.57 and the water has had a chance to be absorbed 00:17:05.33\00:17:08.45 and you've had some time with God for your spiritual food 00:17:08.46\00:17:11.33 then that's a good time for you to get your breakfast. 00:17:11.45\00:17:13.66 So that's very helpful and useful. 00:17:14.57\00:17:18.06 What about the cheese, 00:17:18.12\00:17:19.48 you didn't mention dairy and such, 00:17:19.49\00:17:22.06 we should be eliminating that as well right? 00:17:22.33\00:17:25.15 Well I really think that's the best 00:17:25.16\00:17:26.36 way because plant foods don't include 00:17:26.37\00:17:28.60 dairy products. 00:17:28.61\00:17:29.60 That's right. 00:17:29.61\00:17:30.60 And so I tell the people, 00:17:30.63\00:17:32.87 if it has a mother or a face 00:17:33.78\00:17:36.33 don't eat it! 00:17:36.34\00:17:37.51 Or if it comes from something that has 00:17:37.52\00:17:39.30 a mother or a face you don't want it. 00:17:39.31\00:17:41.06 But the dairy comes from the plant. 00:17:41.07\00:17:43.66 The cow goes out, he eats the plant, and then 00:17:44.12\00:17:48.66 produces the milk. 00:17:49.39\00:17:50.84 But I ask the people, do you 00:17:51.60\00:17:54.12 want pre-owned food? Or do you want 00:17:54.13\00:17:58.06 the original source? Do you want your 00:17:58.09\00:18:01.36 food second hand and eat the fish or 00:18:01.37\00:18:04.51 the cow that eats the plants? 00:18:04.69\00:18:07.21 Why not get it first hand by eating the plants instead? 00:18:07.39\00:18:10.15 I've got to share this with you. I had a friend 00:18:10.16\00:18:12.06 of mine come and we went to the market and we had 00:18:12.07\00:18:15.09 a drink 00:18:16.06\00:18:17.06 with some green algae in the form of wheatgrass, 00:18:17.39\00:18:21.75 actually it was wheatgrass, 00:18:22.18\00:18:24.21 and he said, "Well what good is this going to do me?" 00:18:24.33\00:18:26.60 I said, "The next time you pass a bull out in the field 00:18:26.63\00:18:31.66 what do you think that bull is eating?" 00:18:32.21\00:18:34.15 He said, "He's eating grass." 00:18:34.24\00:18:36.09 I said, "And he's strong right?" 00:18:36.24\00:18:38.21 And he said, "Yeah." and I said, "If you drink 00:18:38.33\00:18:40.15 this stuff then you're going to be strong too." 00:18:40.16\00:18:42.33 Is there some truth in that, 00:18:42.81\00:18:44.36 if we just had nothing but wheatgrass? 00:18:44.37\00:18:47.57 Well I think you need a little 00:18:47.84\00:18:49.45 more variety than just wheatgrass. 00:18:49.46\00:18:52.06 You need a variety of plant foods. 00:18:52.07\00:18:55.06 And something else that's been brought out in nutrition 00:18:55.07\00:18:57.75 is that, what Dr. Nedley and many other 00:18:58.18\00:19:02.51 nutritionists have talked about, you need 00:19:02.52\00:19:04.33 phyto, which means plant, 00:19:05.06\00:19:06.75 there's lots of good phytochemicals. 00:19:06.76\00:19:08.72 In fact my wife has a lecture on this 00:19:08.73\00:19:10.21 which she gives to the NEWSTART people. 00:19:10.22\00:19:12.06 And you want to look for foods with different colors like 00:19:12.36\00:19:16.15 your blueberries, and your tomatoes, 00:19:16.36\00:19:20.42 and your red bell peppers, and your 00:19:20.43\00:19:22.36 green peppers, and 00:19:22.37\00:19:24.48 apricots, mangos, and carrots. 00:19:24.63\00:19:27.51 And mix them all up? 00:19:27.57\00:19:28.63 Yeah, and the variety of these because 00:19:28.64\00:19:31.60 we do know the Americans as a group eat too much food. 00:19:32.18\00:19:36.06 But there's certain foods that 00:19:36.12\00:19:37.48 they're not really getting enough of 00:19:37.49\00:19:39.09 and that's fruits and vegetables. 00:19:39.10\00:19:41.06 And so they need more of these fruits and vegetables. 00:19:41.30\00:19:43.54 Now, I'm going to cut you off, 00:19:43.60\00:19:45.30 you mentioned your wife, her name is May Ing 00:19:45.31\00:19:48.24 and she has a position here, she's on staff 00:19:48.39\00:19:51.72 and she's a dietician, is that correct? 00:19:52.06\00:19:53.72 Right. 00:19:53.73\00:19:54.72 Okay, I just wanted clarification for the viewers. 00:19:54.73\00:19:58.78 Right, so she's a registered dietician and 00:19:59.18\00:20:01.45 has a Master's of Public Health in Nutrition. 00:20:01.46\00:20:03.81 And I have an MPH in nutrition as well. 00:20:03.84\00:20:07.09 So that's a real important part of 00:20:07.30\00:20:09.63 the type of work that we do. You're one of our main 00:22:05.52\00:22:08.78 hydrotherapists and message therapists 00:22:08.87\00:22:11.36 at Weimar Center of Health and Education. 00:22:11.37\00:22:13.18 And you and I both know, being in the medical field, 00:22:13.42\00:22:16.42 muscle tension headaches are huge problems. 00:22:16.48\00:22:19.60 Even people who think they have migraines often 00:22:19.69\00:22:22.24 have a lot of tension in their neck and head muscles. 00:22:22.25\00:22:25.57 Is there really anything simple we 00:22:25.84\00:22:27.72 can offer people with this problem? 00:22:27.73\00:22:29.48 Yes, there is and 00:22:29.75\00:22:31.42 One of the causes of that is that most people don't stretch 00:22:31.54\00:22:36.30 on a regular basis. 00:22:36.42\00:22:37.72 And that's the reason tension builds up. 00:22:37.81\00:22:40.15 When muscles are nice and 00:22:40.42\00:22:42.06 relaxed and have optimal blood flow 00:22:42.07\00:22:44.45 they don't ache. 00:22:44.75\00:22:46.72 But when we have bad 00:22:47.06\00:22:48.54 postural habits of stooping our head 00:22:48.55\00:22:51.21 when just working on the computer, 00:22:51.22\00:22:53.36 washing the dishes, or driving, 00:22:53.37\00:22:55.21 what ends up happening is that 00:22:55.22\00:22:56.75 all of our eight neck muscles and 00:22:56.76\00:23:00.24 some of the chest, shoulder, upper back, 00:23:00.27\00:23:02.72 and even lower back muscles tighten up, 00:23:02.73\00:23:05.18 restrict blood flow, 00:23:05.27\00:23:06.84 and most people are also 00:23:07.06\00:23:08.48 dehydrated from not drinking enough water. 00:23:08.49\00:23:11.06 So that builds up tension 00:23:11.15\00:23:13.12 by pulling and tightens up. 00:23:13.57\00:23:16.18 Hence the term, muscle tension headache. 00:23:16.19\00:23:18.60 Okay, then one of the principles we're 00:23:18.78\00:23:21.24 trying to come to grips with here, Jerry, 00:23:21.25\00:23:23.69 is we've just got to be more limber 00:23:24.06\00:23:26.12 if we want to have less problems with muscle tension. 00:23:26.15\00:23:28.21 Right, and right now 00:23:28.36\00:23:31.33 I'm going to demonstrate and if you'd like you can follow along. 00:23:31.78\00:23:34.75 And I'm just going to show 00:23:34.84\00:23:36.15 what we do at our NEWSTART program 00:23:36.16\00:23:38.12 at 6am in the morning. 00:23:38.15\00:23:39.72 And that's where we start with people. 00:23:39.75\00:23:41.84 With stretching our head, 00:23:42.06\00:23:43.87 shoulders, chest, and our back. 00:23:44.18\00:23:46.24 Okay, I'm ready to try and follow along. 00:23:46.33\00:23:49.51 So I'm just going to show what we do. 00:23:49.52\00:23:51.36 It's very simple you just put your hand over your head 00:23:51.45\00:23:55.12 and we call this ear to shoulder. 00:23:55.42\00:23:57.60 And then you can just message it gently 00:23:57.81\00:24:00.27 on the side of your neck like this. 00:24:00.30\00:24:02.45 So we're just rubbing on there, Jerry? 00:24:03.06\00:24:04.72 We're just rubbing on there. 00:24:04.73\00:24:05.75 And then we just switch sides after a count of 7 00:24:05.87\00:24:09.06 or about 2 to 3 deep breaths. 00:24:09.07\00:24:11.48 Right. 00:24:12.06\00:24:13.06 Am I doing this right? 00:24:14.06\00:24:15.06 Yes you are. 00:24:15.07\00:24:16.06 Right. And then 00:24:16.07\00:24:18.69 we come back to the neutral position. 00:24:18.78\00:24:20.66 And now we're going to put our chin 00:24:20.67\00:24:22.06 to our chest. Interlace your fingers 00:24:22.07\00:24:24.24 and put your hands behind your head, 00:24:24.39\00:24:25.87 take a deep breath, 00:24:25.88\00:24:26.87 and exhale, 00:24:28.12\00:24:29.15 and bring it down. 00:24:29.16\00:24:30.42 Then you can message with your hands 00:24:30.51\00:24:32.81 while you're down there for about a 00:24:33.60\00:24:34.84 count of 7, 2 to 3 deep breaths. 00:24:34.85\00:24:37.45 And then go back up 00:24:38.12\00:24:39.30 and then you can repeat that. Then turn your head 45 degrees 00:24:39.57\00:24:43.54 let your hand rest gently on your head and then, 00:24:45.51\00:24:47.69 again you can message. 00:24:47.70\00:24:49.36 So I'm pulling the head down? 00:24:49.51\00:24:51.18 Yeah, you're letting it rest on there gently 00:24:51.21\00:24:54.06 you've got to give it a slight tug. 00:24:54.07\00:24:55.54 And then you switch sides. 00:24:57.06\00:24:58.78 Nice, big, deep breaths. 00:25:01.09\00:25:02.72 Okay back facing forward. 00:25:05.87\00:25:07.51 And then what you do is you turn your head 45 degrees 00:25:07.52\00:25:10.36 and this time you do the opposite. 00:25:10.37\00:25:11.81 You put your finger right above your collar bone 00:25:11.82\00:25:13.84 and you stretch the neck out. 00:25:14.06\00:25:15.45 Nice, big, deep breaths. 00:25:18.57\00:25:19.87 And then you bring it down and turn your head the other way 00:25:20.78\00:25:24.78 with your finger right above the collar bone. 00:25:24.87\00:25:26.27 Nice, big, deep breaths. 00:25:27.15\00:25:28.66 Alright, and then you bring it back down. 00:25:32.18\00:25:34.21 Then you can message each side a little bit. 00:25:34.24\00:25:36.69 A little bit of the neck and shoulder muscles. 00:25:37.36\00:25:40.57 This releases the tension, brings more blood flow, 00:25:41.45\00:25:45.06 fluid, oxygen, and nutrients to the area. 00:25:45.07\00:25:47.84 And that relaxes all your neck muscles. 00:25:47.87\00:25:50.42 So this is a preventive for muscle tension, 00:25:50.43\00:25:53.06 or is it actually a treatment if someone is having a headache? 00:25:53.07\00:25:55.39 Well you can use it for prevention, 00:25:55.78\00:25:57.75 I always prefer prevention to cure. 00:25:57.76\00:26:00.30 But if someone does have a tension headache 00:26:00.31\00:26:03.15 this will help it. 00:26:03.16\00:26:05.06 Now does is it really make that much of a difference, 00:26:05.45\00:26:08.06 what angle your head is at when you work? 00:26:08.27\00:26:11.39 Yes it does because you want to 00:26:11.48\00:26:12.75 move it in all the ranges of motion, 00:26:12.76\00:26:15.63 down, up, side to side, 00:26:16.33\00:26:18.48 all of the ways, and add that little 00:26:19.84\00:26:21.84 message at the same time.
