Don't wait. 00:11:03.22\00:11:05.24 Give us a call at: 00:11:05.69\00:11:07.42 Or visit our website: 00:11:10.48\00:11:11.72 Welcome back friends, and in our studio, Doctor Ing. 00:11:29.30\00:11:32.33 Doctor Ing, how are you? 00:11:32.60\00:11:34.15 It's great to be here, Ron. 00:11:34.27\00:11:35.63 It's always good to see you. 00:11:35.72\00:11:37.48 And especially when we're talking about Tommy, 00:11:37.72\00:11:42.45 and the changes that he's been through. 00:11:42.66\00:11:45.00 It's so wonderful. 00:11:45.15\00:11:46.27 I guess he was taking 14 or 15 different medications 00:11:46.36\00:11:50.00 as many as 16 or 17 times a day. 00:11:50.06\00:11:53.18 And you know, the only thing I didn't ask, 00:11:53.36\00:11:56.39 and I wanted to ask you, 00:11:56.69\00:11:58.54 how did he do on his weight? 00:11:58.60\00:12:00.03 Oh! I think he lost 12 or more pounds, yeah. 00:12:00.30\00:12:05.15 Isn't that great? He didn't look overweight to begin with! 00:12:05.16\00:12:07.51 But I wanted to ask him that, 00:12:07.78\00:12:09.42 and I figured I'd wait to ask you. 00:12:09.43\00:12:11.24 He lost weight. He definitely lost weight. 00:12:11.27\00:12:14.12 And one of the things that he did to help achieve that 00:12:14.15\00:12:18.84 was he stopped eating his evening meal. 00:12:19.15\00:12:22.12 after the first day or two he said, 00:12:22.27\00:12:24.75 "You know, I'm a little bit too short. 00:12:24.76\00:12:28.66 I need to get reapportioned." 00:12:29.00\00:12:30.75 So he stopped eating his evening meal. 00:12:31.00\00:12:33.27 We adjusted his medicines for his diabetes, 00:12:33.39\00:12:36.00 so he didn't have any problem with his low blood sugars. 00:12:36.12\00:12:39.24 Because sometimes they say, well, 00:12:39.66\00:12:42.54 "I've got to eat three meals a day because of my diabetes," 00:12:42.55\00:12:45.18 and that is not true. 00:12:45.19\00:12:46.48 You can adjust the medication when you do that, 00:12:46.66\00:12:50.15 so that you don't have many low blood sugars, 00:12:50.27\00:12:53.18 and for those who are overweight-- 00:12:53.51\00:12:56.21 we call them "too short"-- 00:12:56.36\00:12:57.78 it's a lot easier to lose weight when you don't eat a third meal. 00:12:57.87\00:13:01.78 If you don't eat anything after three o'clock, 00:13:02.03\00:13:04.42 it's a lot easier for them to lose weight. 00:13:04.45\00:13:06.51 Now when we went off camera 00:13:06.66\00:13:08.51 just at the end of the interview with him, 00:13:08.52\00:13:10.42 I asked him how many medications he's down to 00:13:10.66\00:13:13.48 and he says he's taking only four. 00:13:13.54\00:13:15.51 That's pretty incredible! 00:13:15.54\00:13:18.27 He wanted to get off all of them while he was here, 00:13:18.30\00:13:20.69 and I guess at some point in time 00:13:21.09\00:13:22.78 he'll see his doctor-- 00:13:23.00\00:13:24.39 or will he come back and see you? 00:13:24.40\00:13:26.30 He'll probably see his doctor, 00:13:26.36\00:13:28.09 because he lives in Richmond, Virginia. 00:13:28.10\00:13:30.42 That's a long ways from here. - Yes. 00:13:30.43\00:13:32.36 But he's done very, very well, and he's very, very happy. 00:13:32.54\00:13:35.69 In fact, working with him as we 00:13:35.84\00:13:39.39 were monitoring his blood pressure, 00:13:39.60\00:13:41.66 he was starting to say, 00:13:41.78\00:13:42.87 "Doc, I feel a little bit light-headed." 00:13:42.88\00:13:44.69 So we checked his blood pressure, 00:13:44.78\00:13:47.06 and it was less than 100. 00:13:47.12\00:13:48.36 I mean, his systolic was less than 100. 00:13:48.42\00:13:50.33 So I said, "Well you're still on some blood pressure medicines. 00:13:50.36\00:13:53.30 Let's get rid of those." 00:13:53.36\00:13:55.21 And when we got rid of those, 00:13:55.36\00:13:57.33 he wasn't light-headed anymore, 00:13:57.57\00:13:59.03 his blood pressure was still fine, 00:13:59.04\00:14:00.45 so he was very happy about that. 00:14:00.57\00:14:03.45 So he's off the blood pressure medications. 00:14:03.75\00:14:06.60 Right. And we also stopped 00:14:06.75\00:14:09.33 the medicines to lower his 00:14:09.34\00:14:10.84 cholesterol and his triglycerides, 00:14:10.85\00:14:12.84 because we want to see what it's really like 00:14:13.12\00:14:17.36 when he's on a good, healthful diet. 00:14:17.54\00:14:19.72 And even though his 00:14:20.00\00:14:21.03 cholesterol came up just slightly, 00:14:21.04\00:14:22.75 it's still at a very good level. 00:14:22.84\00:14:25.12 So he's happy about that. I'm pleased about that, 00:14:25.45\00:14:29.18 because some of the medicines that he was on, 00:14:29.33\00:14:33.06 whether or not they really helped 00:14:33.36\00:14:35.54 to lower the risk for heart disease and heart attack 00:14:35.57\00:14:37.78 is debatable. 00:14:38.03\00:14:39.48 So now we know that if he has his 00:14:39.51\00:14:41.48 cholesterol levels down there without any medication, 00:14:41.51\00:14:44.21 then we know what's really happening, 00:14:44.27\00:14:46.63 and that's much better. - Yes. 00:14:46.78\00:14:48.36 He just seemed to be very, very pleased 00:14:48.48\00:14:50.72 with the entire staff, 00:14:50.73\00:14:53.36 and everything that he's achieved, 00:14:53.39\00:14:56.24 and the kindness and the love that has been shared 00:14:56.30\00:15:00.30 here at the NEWSTART program. 00:15:00.33\00:15:02.03 Doctor, I've asked you this before, 00:15:02.39\00:15:04.51 and I need to ask again, because I want to make sure 00:15:04.52\00:15:07.12 our viewers understand. 00:15:07.21\00:15:09.33 When our guests come here, 00:15:10.03\00:15:12.18 and they go through this program, 00:15:12.19\00:15:13.87 you, pretty much you work with them, you don't... 00:15:14.18\00:15:16.78 Could you tell us a little bit about what it is 00:15:17.81\00:15:19.87 that you do as a physician? 00:15:20.00\00:15:21.60 Maybe tell our viewers so 00:15:21.87\00:15:24.21 we can have some people relax 00:15:24.48\00:15:27.15 so they can get themselves to come to our program? 00:15:27.16\00:15:30.12 Well, when they come here we do a comprehensive evaluation, 00:15:30.30\00:15:35.12 including the history. 00:15:35.21\00:15:36.51 They fill out a form which asks lots of questions 00:15:36.75\00:15:39.33 about their illness, 00:15:39.39\00:15:40.66 how long they've had their illness, 00:15:40.67\00:15:42.27 what medications they're on, 00:15:42.30\00:15:43.78 and we evaluate that. We examine them, 00:15:43.81\00:15:47.39 do a thorough physical examination. 00:15:47.54\00:15:50.45 And then after we do that, 00:15:50.60\00:15:53.33 we review where they are with whatever condition they have, 00:15:53.34\00:15:57.63 and then we make suggestions. 00:15:57.81\00:15:59.81 - But that includes also... Excuse me for interrupting. 00:16:00.03\00:16:03.18 That includes a blood draw 00:16:03.27\00:16:04.81 we do the first morning they're here, right? 00:16:05.00\00:16:07.00 And then on the second day we do a treadmill test, right? 00:16:07.27\00:16:09.78 That's right. 00:16:10.15\00:16:11.15 Is that all part of this evaluation 00:16:11.18\00:16:13.42 that you're speaking of? - Right. 00:16:13.43\00:16:14.63 That's all part of the evaluation. It's included. 00:16:14.64\00:16:17.72 And so then we do another blood test at the end 00:16:18.09\00:16:22.24 to see what's happened, 00:16:22.33\00:16:24.03 you know, if their results... 00:16:24.21\00:16:25.81 If their blood sugars and their triglycerides 00:16:26.06\00:16:28.48 and the cholesterol and the HDL cholesterol 00:16:28.54\00:16:30.48 and the LDL cholesterol, 00:16:30.49\00:16:31.57 how they've changed, if they've improved, and so on. 00:16:31.58\00:16:34.42 And we also do a second exercise treadmill test 00:16:34.63\00:16:38.54 to see if their fitness level has improved. 00:16:38.75\00:16:42.00 And we can usually chart this, 00:16:42.30\00:16:46.21 because most of the time 00:16:46.22\00:16:48.78 the pulse rate is recorded for every minute 00:16:49.18\00:16:51.63 like minute one, minute two, minute three, 00:16:51.66\00:16:54.24 and then we compare this with the second test. 00:16:54.39\00:16:57.03 On the second test it's fairly common to see 00:16:57.18\00:17:00.24 that the pulse rate has... 00:17:00.39\00:17:02.36 you know, how many times the heart beats per minute, 00:17:02.60\00:17:04.84 has decreased since the first time, 00:17:05.06\00:17:07.48 which means that their level of 00:17:07.49\00:17:09.33 physical and cardiovascular fitness has improved. 00:17:09.34\00:17:12.75 In other words, they're stronger physically, 00:17:13.27\00:17:14.48 their heart is stronger, 00:17:14.63\00:17:16.24 and so their heart doesn't have to work as hard 00:17:16.30\00:17:18.54 to do the same amount of work. 00:17:18.57\00:17:20.42 And they oftentimes, the time that they 00:17:20.45\00:17:24.27 are able to spend on the treadmill 00:17:24.54\00:17:25.84 likewise is improved. 00:17:26.18\00:17:28.06 In other words, if they stay on 00:17:28.21\00:17:29.75 like for six minutes the first time, 00:17:29.76\00:17:31.57 they may stay on seven minutes, eight minutes, 00:17:31.60\00:17:34.30 or even nine minutes or possibly longer the second time. 00:17:34.54\00:17:37.27 How about Tommy? How long did he stay on 00:17:37.39\00:17:39.36 the second time? Do you recall? 00:17:39.48\00:17:40.69 I don't recall exactly, but 00:17:40.72\00:17:42.81 I remember it was at least 1-1/2 to 2 minutes longer 00:17:43.30\00:17:47.78 than it was on his first time, 00:17:47.79\00:17:49.60 and that means his fitness level has improved. 00:17:49.66\00:17:54.09 And he's walking with a brace, or he's used a brace, 00:17:54.10\00:17:58.45 So he did very, very well, 00:17:58.69\00:18:00.33 and he was very pleased about that. 00:18:00.36\00:18:01.87 Doctor, are we prepared here at the NEWSTART program 00:18:02.03\00:18:06.09 to deal, for lack of a better word, 00:18:06.27\00:18:11.27 with any type of disease a person might have? 00:18:11.39\00:18:15.24 Well, I'm not willing to say "any type of diseases," 00:18:15.72\00:18:18.21 because there's some diseases... 00:18:18.27\00:18:19.84 Well that's a layman talking to you here. 00:18:20.12\00:18:21.72 Right, right, but you know, 00:18:21.81\00:18:23.51 the usual diseases that afflict the American population, 00:18:23.54\00:18:29.09 like heart disease, high blood pressure, 00:18:29.21\00:18:31.81 diabetes, arthritis, these types of problems, 00:18:32.15\00:18:35.81 and even we worked with some of the auto-immune conditions 00:18:36.12\00:18:40.15 like lupus and things like this, and also rheumatoid arthritis. 00:18:40.39\00:18:44.09 And we've had patients come here with these problems. 00:18:44.42\00:18:47.03 And when they begin to put into practice 00:18:47.24\00:18:52.36 the principles they learn, and experience what happens 00:18:52.45\00:18:56.66 when you eat good, healthful food 00:18:56.69\00:18:59.21 and when you start to exercise, or just walking, 00:18:59.27\00:19:03.12 it's remarkable the changes that take place in people. 00:19:03.24\00:19:06.45 So you know, they're happy, 00:19:06.48\00:19:09.78 we're happy to see that they're so much better 00:19:09.87\00:19:12.21 and they feel better, they have less aches and pains, 00:19:12.27\00:19:15.12 and their outlook on life-- their mood improves. 00:19:15.48\00:19:19.42 For some who come depressed, they have less depression. 00:19:19.60\00:19:23.45 For those who come with fibromyalgia and aches and 00:19:23.69\00:19:27.06 pains associated with all the 00:19:27.15\00:19:28.54 muscle and joint problems they have, 00:19:28.55\00:19:30.27 invariably the amount of discomfort and pain they have 00:19:30.54\00:19:34.51 is dramatically reduced, 00:19:34.52\00:19:36.33 and the patients are very pleased about this. 00:19:36.45\00:19:38.69 Now I've had people call me and ask me, 00:19:38.81\00:19:41.33 "Ron, do you deal with cancer patients?" 00:19:41.45\00:19:46.09 And my response is, 00:19:46.18\00:19:48.27 "Well, I've seen people come through the program." 00:19:48.33\00:19:51.24 Can you talk about that just for a little bit? 00:19:51.36\00:19:53.81 Well, we do have patients who come here with cancer. 00:19:54.15\00:19:57.00 And cancer is a big problem here in the United States 00:19:57.24\00:20:00.72 because it causes about one-fourth 00:20:00.73\00:20:03.42 of all the deaths here in the United States. 00:20:03.43\00:20:05.45 So, it depends what stage they come in. 00:20:05.72\00:20:09.60 Sometimes if they come in where they're just 00:20:09.66\00:20:12.72 really, very bad, and the cancer has spread all over their body, 00:20:13.09\00:20:17.66 there's not a lot that we can do as far as 00:20:17.69\00:20:20.72 helping them physically. 00:20:20.73\00:20:22.45 Although it's amazing that sometimes patients come in-- 00:20:22.46\00:20:26.12 We know that all healing comes from God. 00:20:26.30\00:20:29.39 And the exciting thing is, when we work with them, 00:20:29.66\00:20:32.15 when they follow the rules of health, 00:20:32.18\00:20:33.63 when they pray to the Lord and ask for healing 00:20:33.64\00:20:36.00 according to His will, 00:20:36.03\00:20:37.57 some of these patients are healed. 00:20:37.60\00:20:41.81 And it's not our doing. 00:20:42.03\00:20:43.51 I mean, yes, you need to follow the rules of health, 00:20:43.54\00:20:45.81 but God is the Healer and Restorer. 00:20:46.18\00:20:48.12 It's not us and it's not the program. 00:20:48.15\00:20:50.06 But we pray to God and we cooperate with Him 00:20:50.21\00:20:52.66 so that we follow His rules, 00:20:52.69\00:20:55.00 and one of the blessings of obeying the Lord 00:20:55.18\00:20:57.60 is better health. - Yes. 00:20:57.61\00:20:59.27 Well I've seen, and actually people have sat in that chair 00:20:59.63\00:21:03.63 who have come to the program that had cancer, 00:21:03.87\00:21:06.63 and see it go into remission. 00:21:06.78\00:21:08.66 Well Doctor Ing, our time is running out. 00:21:09.33\00:21:12.18 I want to thank you for joining us. 00:21:12.45\00:21:14.78 I know your time is real busy, 00:21:14.84\00:21:17.81 and we'll see you the next go-around. 00:21:18.09\00:21:20.18 It's a pleasure, Ron. God bless. 00:21:20.36\00:21:21.84 God bless you. 00:21:21.87\00:21:22.87 And thank you, friends. But don't go away, 00:21:23.27\00:21:25.15 because we have an important message for you 00:21:25.21\00:21:27.18 right after this. 00:21:27.21\00:21:29.18 Hello, and welcome to NEWSTART Now. 00:21:43.09\00:21:44.57 I'm your host, Don Mackintosh, 00:21:44.60\00:21:46.18 and today we're glad that Dr. Michael Orlich is with us. 00:21:46.21\00:21:49.15 Welcome, Doctor Orlich. 00:21:49.33\00:21:50.72 Good to be with you, Don. 00:21:50.81\00:21:52.21 Now you're a specialist in family practice, 00:21:52.27\00:21:54.75 but also you're doing a board in preventive medicine. 00:21:54.78\00:21:58.12 You worked for a time here at the NEWSTART program as well. 00:21:58.13\00:22:01.12 That's right. Four years here at NEWSTART Lifestyle Program. 00:22:01.15\00:22:04.51 And we have an acronym here, NEWSTART, 00:22:04.69\00:22:06.84 which guests came up with that, I guess. 00:22:06.85\00:22:09.15 And one of those parts of that acronym is 00:22:09.33\00:22:12.33 W - water. 00:22:12.34\00:22:13.63 We're going to talk about water today. 00:22:13.72\00:22:15.60 Do we get enough water? 00:22:15.69\00:22:18.09 Well, some people do and some people don't, 00:22:18.57\00:22:21.42 but there are a lot of people who don't get enough water, 00:22:21.57\00:22:24.78 and water is one of those simple things 00:22:25.06\00:22:27.15 that we take for granted, like air, 00:22:27.18\00:22:29.18 but it's very important for our health. 00:22:29.42\00:22:31.57 Does our body tell us when we need water, 00:22:31.84\00:22:33.57 or do we have to tell our body that we need water? 00:22:33.60\00:22:35.42 Well it's very fortunate that our body 00:22:35.43\00:22:37.57 does have a lot of mechanisms for 00:22:37.58\00:22:39.75 keeping us from getting dehydrated. 00:22:39.76\00:22:42.06 We hang on to more water through our kidneys 00:22:42.24\00:22:46.42 when we're not getting enough, 00:22:46.54\00:22:48.03 and we also have the thirst mechanism 00:22:48.15\00:22:50.87 that keeps us from getting too dehydrated. 00:22:51.06\00:22:53.36 But remember, these are alarms of your body 00:22:53.48\00:22:56.30 saying that you're getting a bit dehydrated, 00:22:56.31\00:22:58.24 so it's better to stay ahead of the game 00:22:58.25\00:23:00.72 and get plenty of water. 00:23:00.81\00:23:02.48 Remember that probably 70 percent of your body 00:23:02.60\00:23:06.27 is made up of water. 00:23:06.36\00:23:07.57 All of the various chemical reactions 00:23:07.58\00:23:09.63 that take place in your body that allow you to be alive 00:23:09.66\00:23:12.48 are water-based reactions. 00:23:12.72\00:23:14.81 And so having enough water, staying well-hydrated, 00:23:14.84\00:23:17.69 is a very important principle for health. 00:23:18.03\00:23:20.21 And you were telling me before we did this segment that 00:23:20.54\00:23:22.87 they have some new research that's also showing 00:23:23.12\00:23:25.30 some benefits for being well-hydrated. 00:23:25.33\00:23:27.24 Well that's true. There are a number of benefits 00:23:27.45\00:23:30.12 of getting enough water. 00:23:30.18\00:23:31.78 Some of the most obvious ones 00:23:31.87\00:23:33.69 actually have to do with the urinary system and the bladder. 00:23:33.70\00:23:37.45 For example, if you want to avoid urinary tract infections, 00:23:37.46\00:23:41.21 it's good to drink plenty of water. 00:23:41.36\00:23:43.30 If you want to avoid kidney stones, 00:23:43.51\00:23:45.66 it's important to drink a lot of water. 00:23:45.67\00:23:47.54 If you keep the urine dilute, 00:23:47.57\00:23:49.54 the stones don't have as much of an ability to form. 00:23:49.60\00:23:52.69 And bladder cancer is clearly reduced 00:23:53.06\00:23:56.00 with increased water intake. 00:23:56.09\00:23:57.81 But what I was telling you about is 00:23:58.18\00:24:00.81 findings from the Adventist Health Study, 00:24:00.82\00:24:02.84 which is a major epidemiologic cohort study 00:24:02.87\00:24:06.42 funded by the National Institutes of Health 00:24:06.48\00:24:08.69 and done out of Loma Linda University. 00:24:08.70\00:24:11.57 And they published interesting results 00:24:11.81\00:24:14.39 that had to do with people on their questionnaire 00:24:14.40\00:24:17.33 checking whether they drank 00:24:17.42\00:24:20.15 more than 5 glasses of water a day, 00:24:20.30\00:24:23.06 between 2 and 5, 00:24:23.07\00:24:24.81 or less than 2 glasses of water a day. 00:24:24.82\00:24:27.60 And a very, very interesting finding 00:24:27.63\00:24:29.87 is that those people who drank 00:24:30.06\00:24:32.03 more than 5 glasses of water a day 00:24:32.04\00:24:34.15 had a significant reduction 00:24:34.24\00:24:36.66 in their risk of coronary heart disease 00:24:36.67\00:24:39.57 compared to those people who drank less 00:24:39.58\00:24:41.54 than 2 glasses of water a day. 00:24:41.55\00:24:43.60 So it seems that something as simple as drinking enough water 00:24:44.03\00:24:47.33 may lead to a reduced risk 00:24:47.48\00:24:49.60 of one of the biggest killers in America. 00:24:49.63\00:24:51.36 Wow. I'm feeling thirsty already. 00:24:51.66\00:24:53.69 But is all water equal? I mean, you know, 00:24:53.70\00:24:56.00 bottled water, tap water... 00:24:56.09\00:24:58.15 Where should I get my water? 00:24:58.30\00:24:59.72 Well, some people ask about other beverages, 00:24:59.78\00:25:04.06 you know, like say pop and Kool-Aid 00:25:04.12\00:25:06.66 and coffee and that sort of thing. 00:25:06.72\00:25:08.51 And fortunately, all of these things can help you 00:25:08.54\00:25:11.48 keep from becoming completely dehydrated, 00:25:11.63\00:25:14.24 because they're all mostly made out of water. 00:25:14.33\00:25:16.36 But it's far better to drink pure water. 00:25:16.37\00:25:18.84 One of the biggest and simplest reasons is 00:25:19.12\00:25:22.33 you don't need a lot of the other things that's added, 00:25:22.45\00:25:25.45 and one of the biggest things is calories. 00:25:25.57\00:25:27.57 You don't want to drink your calories because 00:25:27.78\00:25:30.09 this can bring on so many extra calories 00:25:30.12\00:25:32.21 and lead to weight gain. 00:25:32.22\00:25:33.42 But water itself, of course we can get it in many forms. 00:25:33.57\00:25:37.24 And around the world, 00:25:37.33\00:25:38.81 many people die from contaminated water. 00:25:38.82\00:25:41.63 Fortunately, here in the United States 00:25:41.66\00:25:44.03 most city water, municipal water, 00:25:44.15\00:25:47.06 is safe and free of major pollutants. 00:25:47.12\00:25:50.75 And so most people can do well 00:25:50.78\00:25:53.00 with just drinking tap water and drinking enough of it. 00:25:53.06\00:25:56.60 Bottled waters have been looked at, and in general, 00:25:56.72\00:26:00.69 they're about the same as your average tap water. 00:26:00.72\00:26:04.63 So there's no real advantage to bottled water, 00:26:04.66\00:26:07.75 distilled water, or that type of thing. 00:26:07.81\00:26:10.33 Six to eight glasses a day? 00:26:10.54\00:26:12.39 Six to eight glasses is certainly a good rule of thumb. 00:26:12.45\00:26:15.72 It varies if you're in a hot environment, 00:26:15.81\00:26:18.51 if you're exercising a lot, you'll need more. 00:26:18.57\00:26:20.81 But 6 to 8 glasses a day is good for most people and most times. 00:26:21.15\00:26:25.00 Well I think we're going to have a drink 00:26:25.24\00:26:26.36 right after this segment-- 00:26:26.39\00:26:27.48 of water, that is. 00:26:27.63\00:26:29.03 And we're glad that you joined us. 00:26:29.06\00:26:30.21 Doctor Mike, we're glad you're here with us. 00:26:30.42\00:26:32.27 And we're glad that you joined us, as well. 00:26:32.45\00:26:34.12 We hope that you can visit our website: 00:26:34.15\00:26:36.30 Get more information about this or other subjects, 00:26:37.18\00:26:39.27 and that as a result of today's program 00:26:39.30\00:26:41.24 you have a new start that begins right now. 00:26:41.25\00:26:44.09 Modern views of evolution stem all the way back 00:26:51.72\00:26:54.33 to theories developed in the mid-1800s. 00:26:54.36\00:26:56.75 Out of the same time period came ideas that shape 00:26:57.42\00:27:00.72 our educational system today. 00:27:00.75\00:27:03.00 The Common School Movement, for example, 00:27:03.54\00:27:05.81 saw schools more like a factory, 00:27:06.27\00:27:08.18 with students blindly memorizing instruction 00:27:08.19\00:27:10.84 rather than thinking for themselves. 00:27:10.87\00:27:12.84 Their curriculum was rigid and theoretical. 00:27:13.39\00:27:15.84 Instead of being flexible and practical, 00:27:15.85\00:27:18.69 it was designed to conform the individual 00:27:18.84\00:27:21.33 into a specific ideological mold 00:27:21.42\00:27:23.87 that fit the needs of an old industrial era 00:27:24.21\00:27:26.66 long since passed. 00:27:26.67\00:27:28.15 Just like our view of creation in six literal days, 00:27:29.42\00:27:32.66 we believe the Bible contains an educational blueprint 00:27:32.75\00:27:36.75 radically different from the one we see now. 00:27:37.12\00:27:39.48 Well friends, that's it for today. 00:27:52.66\00:27:54.33 I know there's many of you out there 00:27:54.36\00:27:56.33 that need to come to our program, 00:27:56.34\00:27:58.12 so pick up that phone and give us a call at: 00:27:58.15\00:28:00.57 God bless you. 00:28:04.48\00:28:05.54
