Welcome to another edition of Newstart now. 00:00:23.88\00:00:26.46 A program that showcases guest 00:00:27.10\00:00:29.59 in our 18-day Newstart Lifestyle session here at 00:00:30.05\00:00:33.00 Weimar, California. My name is Ron Giannoni 00:00:33.01\00:00:35.93 and I'm your host today. With me to my left I've 00:00:35.94\00:00:39.12 Alice Jackson. Alice has an amazing 00:00:39.13\00:00:42.31 testimony to tell us about, but before we get 00:00:42.32\00:00:45.79 into that Alice I'd like to show the viewers 00:00:45.80\00:00:50.79 our interview when you first got here, 00:00:51.85\00:00:53.78 is that okay? Okay, go. 00:00:53.79\00:00:55.43 For the last couple of years I've had 00:00:56.44\00:00:58.44 difficulties with Iron Deficiency particularly 00:00:58.88\00:01:03.57 ferritin, which is the iron that stored a the 00:01:03.58\00:01:06.38 tissues and it's a prolonged program 00:01:06.39\00:01:11.09 to get it built back up again and during that 00:01:11.10\00:01:13.84 time a person is really low in energy and so 00:01:13.85\00:01:19.88 over the last couple of years I've been lying 00:01:19.89\00:01:22.33 around a lot, so in these last couple of years 00:01:22.34\00:01:25.83 while I was having difficulty with my 00:01:25.84\00:01:28.17 health, drinking caffeine and smoking 00:01:28.18\00:01:31.55 cigarettes and eating sugary snacks became 00:01:31.56\00:01:38.10 worse for me. I've got worse added 00:01:38.11\00:01:41.09 instead of better, and so all that time I was 00:01:41.10\00:01:45.29 thinking that if I had the opportunity to come up 00:01:45.30\00:01:47.28 here and reverse that and get some definite 00:01:47.29\00:01:51.57 instruction on how to eat better and how to, 00:01:51.58\00:01:55.09 how to take care of myself? 00:01:55.10\00:01:56.69 Well, that's an amazing testimony to start with, 00:01:58.18\00:02:01.27 but my question now is how you're feeling, 00:02:01.28\00:02:04.21 what's going on? Well, I feel, I feel a big 00:02:04.22\00:02:08.98 difference in my well being and my energy 00:02:08.99\00:02:12.38 level, my health, much better. 00:02:12.39\00:02:14.37 You look different. Do I? Yeah, 00:02:14.66\00:02:17.22 you look better more vibrant, but tell me how 00:02:17.23\00:02:19.93 is the sugar cravings and? Well, I think I'm an 00:02:19.94\00:02:24.45 expert withdrawals now because I had to 00:02:24.46\00:02:27.55 withdraw from just about everything I was 00:02:27.56\00:02:29.59 doing in my life, but sugar withdrawals was 00:02:29.60\00:02:32.95 probably last just a couple of days I would 00:02:34.54\00:02:37.07 say and they weren't that bad because we ate 00:02:37.08\00:02:40.45 as much food as we wanted at our meal 00:02:40.46\00:02:42.50 times, and so there was no hunger just the habit 00:02:42.51\00:02:47.15 of having sweets, had to deal with that. 00:02:47.16\00:02:50.44 The caffeine I notice right away, the first day 00:02:51.91\00:02:56.00 I noticed that I was reaching for my cup of 00:02:56.01\00:02:58.55 coffee and wasn't there, but 00:02:58.56\00:02:59.91 I got over that pretty quickly too. 00:03:00.68\00:03:02.32 And then cigarette smoking of course was 00:03:02.87\00:03:05.52 the hardest and I still wonder how, 00:03:05.53\00:03:08.61 what I will have to do at home to make sure I'm 00:03:09.85\00:03:12.27 not tempted, you know, what things I may have 00:03:12.28\00:03:14.30 to do differently, but being up here in 00:03:14.31\00:03:16.56 environment where there is no smoking, 00:03:16.57\00:03:18.14 I think I'm doing very well. 00:03:19.62\00:03:21.33 Let's go back to the caffeine. 00:03:21.65\00:03:23.32 Now before you got here you drank, 00:03:23.78\00:03:25.82 how much coffee did you drink a day? 00:03:25.83\00:03:28.04 If you can little cups I used big cups, 00:03:30.20\00:03:34.76 but I think the average cup size I probably 00:03:34.77\00:03:37.54 drink about five or six cups of coffee a day. 00:03:37.87\00:03:39.96 Okay very strong or. Yes. And you felt 00:03:39.97\00:03:42.67 withdrawal from that. Yes. And the cigarettes 00:03:42.68\00:03:45.61 you felt withdrawal, are you still withdrawing 00:03:45.62\00:03:47.92 or you feel it's physical? No, no I don't feel 00:03:47.93\00:03:50.27 physical any kind of distress. 00:03:51.19\00:03:53.64 I think that's a chemical withdrawing. 00:03:54.50\00:03:58.57 I think right now it's mostly how I lived my 00:03:58.58\00:04:03.53 life before, was I worked things around 00:04:03.54\00:04:06.79 my cigarette habit because it's not polite 00:04:06.80\00:04:09.27 to smoke anywhere now. Yeah. 00:04:09.28\00:04:11.27 And so I had to fit my life around 00:04:11.28\00:04:14.14 my cigarette habit. So now I have to 00:04:14.15\00:04:17.30 kind of rethink that when I get home. 00:04:17.85\00:04:19.37 Okay, good. Now tell us a little bit about the 00:04:19.61\00:04:22.35 program you've been through, did you have fun? 00:04:22.36\00:04:25.50 Yes, definitely. It's been a lot of fun even though 00:04:26.54\00:04:29.74 that I had my personal struggles to go through 00:04:29.75\00:04:32.99 in the early days, but everyone all the guests 00:04:33.00\00:04:36.87 were like a, I know it sounds cliché, but we're 00:04:37.71\00:04:40.83 like a family. We were very supportive 00:04:40.84\00:04:43.40 of each other and I would think most 00:04:43.41\00:04:46.19 groups are probably like this one. 00:04:46.20\00:04:48.31 We have a lot of fun. And getting out walking 00:04:50.41\00:04:55.62 and being in a beautiful place like this 00:04:55.63\00:04:57.90 is certainly fun and exhilarating, so yes it's 00:04:58.87\00:05:02.58 very enjoyable. Okay, all the things that 00:05:02.59\00:05:05.26 you've experienced here at Weimar, what is this 00:05:05.27\00:05:08.57 memorable moment that you'll take home 00:05:08.77\00:05:10.99 with you, any one particular thing that happened? 00:05:11.00\00:05:13.99 Well, I was sitting in our lectures. 00:05:14.74\00:05:17.55 We lectured frequently, daily and sometimes 00:05:17.56\00:05:20.74 more than once a day, and realized probably in 00:05:20.75\00:05:25.46 about the fifth or sixth lecture that the person 00:05:25.47\00:05:30.64 giving the lecture is a doctor, a medical 00:05:30.65\00:05:35.64 doctor, and it struck me. It took a couple of times 00:05:35.65\00:05:39.03 before I really realized that what a rare 00:05:39.04\00:05:41.18 opportunity this is to be, to be trained and taught 00:05:41.19\00:05:44.66 by these professionals who lived this lifestyle 00:05:45.01\00:05:50.03 themselves and have for many years and just to 00:05:50.04\00:05:54.10 have them up-close and available for 00:05:54.11\00:05:57.59 questioning day after day after day I realized 00:05:57.60\00:06:01.06 that was just very rare, rare opportunity. 00:06:01.07\00:06:03.70 Now you say there are available for 00:06:03.71\00:06:05.70 questioning, I mean you can just walk into their 00:06:05.71\00:06:08.43 office or where they on campus available to you 00:06:08.44\00:06:12.06 most of the time. The doctors are visible 00:06:12.87\00:06:17.25 on campus and at meal times and 00:06:17.26\00:06:20.54 just different times during the day. 00:06:20.84\00:06:22.70 You mean they eat with you? 00:06:22.98\00:06:23.95 They eat with us, okay, and they if nothing else 00:06:23.96\00:06:27.15 walk through, I mean say hello, they stop. 00:06:27.16\00:06:30.69 If anyone has something to say to 00:06:30.70\00:06:33.29 them they stop, they're never in a hurry. 00:06:33.30\00:06:34.92 Yes, they're completely accessible. 00:06:36.02\00:06:38.08 Well, surely you found that your doctors at 00:06:38.36\00:06:40.27 home were about the same, weren't they? 00:06:40.28\00:06:41.80 No, no, very hard to get a hold of and to get 00:06:41.81\00:06:45.71 their attention very lengthy time yeah at home. 00:06:45.72\00:06:48.22 Okay, and now I understand that you're 00:06:48.23\00:06:51.15 walking quite a bit how far you walking each day? 00:06:51.16\00:06:54.15 Well I've walked more than three miles a day 00:06:54.16\00:06:56.76 and this is from at home I wasn't walking at all, 00:06:57.75\00:07:00.44 so I had to start up gradually, but the most 00:07:00.45\00:07:03.66 I've gonna I think in a day where I counted 00:07:03.67\00:07:06.15 measured was probably a little under four miles. 00:07:06.16\00:07:08.56 Well, that's excellent, good. 00:07:08.57\00:07:10.81 What about the food now. I'm hearing that you 00:07:11.14\00:07:13.11 had a ordeal with the food or was it you that 00:07:13.12\00:07:16.11 I heard that about? I had no ordeal with the food. 00:07:16.12\00:07:18.50 Not at all. No. So you love the food? 00:07:18.51\00:07:20.45 I love the food, everything is fresh and 00:07:20.46\00:07:23.18 beautifully displayed, it all looks appetizing, 00:07:24.25\00:07:27.12 it smells good and after a couple of days your 00:07:27.13\00:07:32.31 appetite gets used to the routine of when the 00:07:32.32\00:07:34.42 meals are and it's much easier to switch over to 00:07:34.43\00:07:40.46 this diet than I thought it would be. 00:07:40.47\00:07:43.83 That was not difficult at all. 00:07:44.73\00:07:46.00 Now you're a married lady I know, 00:07:46.59\00:07:48.24 I met your husband, and when you go home 00:07:48.25\00:07:51.08 you're gonna be doing the cooking at home, 00:07:51.09\00:07:53.28 and as he is gonna address to you a new lifestyle. 00:07:53.79\00:07:56.11 Everybody at home is anxiously awaiting me 00:07:56.12\00:07:59.51 to get there and start cooking for them. 00:07:59.52\00:08:01.75 They come up to visit here and joined us for 00:08:02.18\00:08:05.43 different meals. My husband, 00:08:05.44\00:08:07.17 probably had about six meals here and my son 00:08:07.18\00:08:12.05 had one and they are trying to duplicate it at 00:08:12.06\00:08:18.44 home right now by themselves and they're 00:08:18.45\00:08:20.51 just they're gonna be happy for me to come 00:08:20.52\00:08:22.53 home and start cooking the real thing. 00:08:22.54\00:08:25.49 Now we have about 30 seconds left. 00:08:26.63\00:08:28.52 Is there anything you'd like to convey to the 00:08:28.53\00:08:31.15 viewing audience that might inspire them in anyway? 00:08:31.16\00:08:35.00 Well, I'm just happy that I did this because 00:08:35.56\00:08:38.41 there's so much conflicting information 00:08:39.81\00:08:41.65 out there about how we should eat or how we 00:08:41.66\00:08:44.29 should leave. If we find out that one thing 00:08:44.30\00:08:47.34 is not good for us, if we look hard enough we 00:08:47.35\00:08:49.29 can find someone saying that it might be 00:08:49.30\00:08:51.12 okay to have, you know, exercise this 00:08:51.52\00:08:55.22 much or exercise that much. 00:08:55.23\00:08:56.82 And I wanted to go somewhere where the 00:08:57.39\00:08:59.18 people could teach me without a doubt that 00:08:59.19\00:09:02.63 there is a system, a way of living that includes 00:09:02.83\00:09:05.56 all these elements that really works. 00:09:05.57\00:09:07.47 And here at Weimer, it's taught by people 00:09:07.80\00:09:11.20 who are actually living the lifestyle themselves 00:09:11.21\00:09:14.10 and like I said they've been doing it for a while. 00:09:14.11\00:09:17.24 So they are, it's not, it's much different from 00:09:17.92\00:09:20.89 reading a book, or trying to figure this 00:09:20.90\00:09:23.77 out on your own. And I'm glad that 00:09:23.78\00:09:26.08 I'll be able to go home and not second guess 00:09:26.09\00:09:28.63 my choices when I make a menu or a shop. 00:09:29.29\00:09:32.23 I know what to do now without a doubt. 00:09:32.95\00:09:36.30 Alright! Alice, thank you for joining us. 00:09:36.63\00:09:39.28 Folks don't go away we have an exciting 00:09:39.91\00:09:41.82 program for you ahead, we'll be back in 00:09:41.83\00:09:44.23 just a moment, God bless. 00:09:44.24\00:09:45.75 Well, you've done very well. 00:09:47.33\00:09:48.55 Do you have diabetes, heart disease, 00:09:55.30\00:09:57.62 high blood pressure, or do you weight too much? 00:09:57.63\00:10:00.61 Hi, my name is Dr. Ing. I'd like to tell you about 00:10:01.43\00:10:04.09 our 18-day Newstart Lifestyle Program. 00:10:04.10\00:10:06.93 It includes a comprehensive medical evaluation for 00:10:07.87\00:10:10.64 laboratory studies and an exercise stress test, 00:10:10.65\00:10:13.81 physician consultations, culinary school and an 00:10:14.15\00:10:18.81 opportunity to walk on beautiful trails and the 00:10:18.82\00:10:21.72 Foothills of the Sierras. Your health is one of 00:10:21.73\00:10:26.43 the most important things that you have, 00:10:26.44\00:10:28.19 don't wait, give us call at 800-525-9192 or visit 00:10:28.20\00:10:34.57 our website newstart.com. 00:10:34.58\00:10:37.85 Welcome back folks. I've an exciting guest 00:10:53.46\00:10:56.99 here right now, Dr. Lukens to my left. 00:10:57.00\00:11:00.32 Welcome Dr. Lukens. It's good to see you again. 00:11:01.16\00:11:02.97 Thank you. So, tell me, we've just 00:11:02.98\00:11:06.57 seen this testimony. It can't be that easy. 00:11:06.58\00:11:09.88 What's going on here tell me in your own 00:11:10.48\00:11:12.61 doctor words, what's happening? 00:11:12.99\00:11:15.05 Well, you know, when Alice came I saw 00:11:16.43\00:11:19.62 someone there was very timid, very fearful and 00:11:19.63\00:11:24.12 frankly very defeated, and she had tried for 37 00:11:24.13\00:11:28.53 years, that's how long she had been smoking 00:11:28.54\00:11:31.92 since age 11. Wow! To give this habit up 00:11:31.93\00:11:35.63 and I said, well do you have children? 00:11:36.64\00:11:38.16 She said yes I have two. I said well did you 00:11:38.17\00:11:42.53 know during the time that you're having 00:11:42.54\00:11:44.27 children that tobacco smoking was harmful? 00:11:44.28\00:11:47.36 And she said, yes I did. I said, well then why 00:11:48.15\00:11:51.58 did you do? She said I tried my hardest 00:11:51.59\00:11:54.68 to give up cigarette smoking. 00:11:55.57\00:11:56.92 She said I just did the very, very best that 00:11:57.61\00:12:00.71 I could, and she said I'd kind of way, way down, 00:12:00.72\00:12:03.71 but I always had to know that that cigarette 00:12:04.06\00:12:06.25 was there. Well, had she ever? 00:12:06.26\00:12:08.27 Nothing happen. Had she ever tried 00:12:08.28\00:12:10.56 anything else like I know there are products 00:12:10.57\00:12:12.77 on the market, you take this pill you could quit 00:12:12.78\00:12:15.31 smoking in a couple of days. 00:12:15.32\00:12:16.86 She ever done anything like that or is it? 00:12:17.17\00:12:18.50 The thing is. Truly Weimar or the Newstart 00:12:18.51\00:12:21.17 Program that has helped her stop this addiction. 00:12:21.18\00:12:24.68 The thing is that all of those situations it still 00:12:25.33\00:12:28.76 takes that personal commitment what she 00:12:28.77\00:12:32.35 had, but she had to have the realization that she 00:12:32.36\00:12:38.42 could be strong enough to do it, and that's what 00:12:38.43\00:12:42.03 it had been lacking. She would get down 00:12:42.04\00:12:44.13 to where she might just smoke one or two or 00:12:44.14\00:12:46.68 three cigarettes during her old pregnancy, 00:12:46.69\00:12:49.32 I mean during per week during her pregnancy. 00:12:49.51\00:12:52.32 So she was trying a very hardest, 00:12:52.94\00:12:54.72 but she had to know that cigarette was still 00:12:55.06\00:12:58.02 there if she needed it. Well, let me ask you 00:12:58.03\00:12:59.94 this, let me ask you this. Okay and, and I agree, 00:12:59.95\00:13:03.87 but what is it about the Newstart Program 00:13:04.07\00:13:06.95 that assisted her in stopping those addiction? 00:13:07.44\00:13:12.26 Well, I think there are a lot of different things, 00:13:13.31\00:13:15.28 but one of the things is this huge as in we got 00:13:15.29\00:13:19.31 her exercising. She just come off of a prolonged 00:13:19.32\00:13:22.83 illness and she mentioned that. 00:13:22.84\00:13:25.44 Or she just didn't have any energy so she 00:13:25.95\00:13:28.12 hadn't done any physical exercise and 00:13:28.13\00:13:30.42 that can make the person feel defeating 00:13:30.43\00:13:32.05 right there. And so she started moving, started 00:13:32.06\00:13:36.18 exercising, and that was big. 00:13:36.19\00:13:38.47 Then we had food that wasn't stimulating and 00:13:39.03\00:13:42.58 it was wholesome and nutritious. 00:13:42.59\00:13:45.06 There was calming to her as well. 00:13:47.10\00:13:48.07 She also talked about the caffeine and that's 00:13:48.08\00:13:49.78 another thing. Those two seemed to go 00:13:49.79\00:13:52.16 together you know it's just a habit. 00:13:52.17\00:13:54.97 Caffeine and cigarettes? Yeah, you sit down and 00:13:55.43\00:13:57.88 you have your cup of coffee and you have 00:13:57.89\00:13:59.36 your cigarette and it just, it just like that, 00:13:59.37\00:14:02.38 but the main thing was is that she had to know 00:14:02.39\00:14:05.05 that she could do it. And on day three when 00:14:05.06\00:14:07.82 it was probably the hardest she almost quit. 00:14:07.83\00:14:11.05 They called me up in the morning and they 00:14:12.55\00:14:14.08 said, Alice's bags are packed and she is on 00:14:14.09\00:14:18.21 her way. Oh really! And this was day three? 00:14:18.22\00:14:21.33 This is day three, yeah. Oh! And so fortunately 00:14:21.54\00:14:24.67 we're able to get there and I said look, 00:14:25.29\00:14:27.00 let's kneel down and let's pray about this. 00:14:28.21\00:14:30.13 God has wonderful power and He can help you stop. 00:14:30.14\00:14:33.77 And I talked to her husband later and he 00:14:34.84\00:14:36.68 says I don't wanna be hardnosed doc, 00:14:36.69\00:14:38.35 but he said I was able to quit because at one 00:14:38.36\00:14:43.25 stage it just I saw somebody smoking, 00:14:43.26\00:14:47.03 it was so detestable to me I thought I don't 00:14:47.04\00:14:49.31 ever wanna do that again. But she had tried so 00:14:49.32\00:14:52.81 many times even through the pregnancies and stuff. 00:14:52.82\00:14:55.52 And so I said let's pray about it and a friend of 00:14:56.01\00:14:59.24 her's came and so she went off the campus for 00:14:59.25\00:15:01.97 a while and talked to her friend and then her 00:15:01.98\00:15:05.64 friend says, now what do you're gonna do? 00:15:05.65\00:15:07.13 And she says, I've got to go back. 00:15:07.86\00:15:09.14 Right, right, right. And then by day four and 00:15:09.60\00:15:13.23 five, the physical addictions were over 00:15:13.24\00:15:15.96 with, pretty much and we know that, 00:15:15.97\00:15:18.54 that's what the five day plan to stop smoking 00:15:18.55\00:15:21.45 day, but she still needed that extra length of time 00:15:21.46\00:15:24.60 to settle into it and realize that hey, 00:15:25.43\00:15:28.07 by God's help I can't do this. 00:15:28.94\00:15:31.38 By being on these, on these simple principles 00:15:31.89\00:15:35.67 of health, so, we're going to be able to 00:15:36.05\00:15:39.00 make this journey. So what I hear you saying, 00:15:39.01\00:15:41.26 correct me if I'm wrong, is first exercise and then 00:15:41.27\00:15:45.52 food and then third you mentioned obviously 00:15:45.53\00:15:50.53 trust in the Lord, is that way it works 00:15:50.54\00:15:53.13 or can anybody do this? Can anyone come here 00:15:53.14\00:15:55.86 to the Newstart Program and stop smoking? 00:15:55.87\00:15:58.72 Well, they're, they're all, they're altogether. 00:15:59.30\00:16:01.38 They all have to hit at the same time, 00:16:01.39\00:16:03.26 otherwise it won't work. But, you know, a very 00:16:03.71\00:16:07.81 famous American writer said, oh! It's 00:16:07.82\00:16:10.36 really easy to stop smoking. 00:16:10.37\00:16:11.90 I've done it a thousand times, and that's what 00:16:11.91\00:16:14.99 people you know, they think well I assure you 00:16:15.00\00:16:16.73 know, she is here 18-days and she is a 00:16:16.74\00:16:18.88 special situation. But I think that she 00:16:18.89\00:16:21.78 has a confidence now and as we follow her 00:16:21.79\00:16:24.22 and keep encouraging her she realizes it now 00:16:24.75\00:16:27.91 she can do it because she did it for longer 00:16:28.17\00:16:31.04 than she has ever done in the last 37 years. 00:16:31.49\00:16:33.84 Now aside from the smoking addiction, 00:16:34.89\00:16:37.53 were there any other elements that she was 00:16:39.02\00:16:42.10 dealing with or is that pretty much as I know 00:16:42.11\00:16:45.61 there is someone to lose some weight, 00:16:45.62\00:16:47.02 she mentioned? Yeah, you know and like 00:16:47.03\00:16:49.11 I say she had been defeated for a year-and-half. 00:16:49.12\00:16:51.75 She just had no hope that she was gonna be 00:16:52.63\00:16:55.10 able to get her energy back. 00:16:55.11\00:16:56.47 She was anemic. She had always other 00:16:57.75\00:16:59.91 problems and after a while you know day in 00:16:59.92\00:17:02.64 and day out, you just lose, you lose hope, 00:17:02.65\00:17:05.31 you lose confidence and you have to get that back. 00:17:05.46\00:17:08.10 She has a walk with the Lord, but it was 00:17:08.31\00:17:11.23 something that she needed extra to help 00:17:11.24\00:17:13.37 and that's what she got when she came. 00:17:14.12\00:17:16.00 Now, what about now that she is going leave 00:17:16.74\00:17:20.28 the Newstart Program, she is leaving Weimar 00:17:20.87\00:17:24.08 and she goes home, what about then, 00:17:24.09\00:17:26.12 what do we, what do we have in place to assist 00:17:26.13\00:17:29.49 her at that point or doing? 00:17:29.50\00:17:31.89 It'll be the, it'll be the follow-up, yeah. 00:17:32.22\00:17:33.87 She is supposed to fill out an eight week chart, 00:17:34.17\00:17:36.20 but of the things that I told her is as I said, 00:17:36.92\00:17:38.88 you know, your family is going to gain 00:17:38.89\00:17:43.74 victories in areas in their life when they see 00:17:43.75\00:17:47.62 you victorious and that will also make a 00:17:47.63\00:17:50.89 huge difference for her. Amen. 00:17:50.90\00:17:53.60 So, we appreciate the fact that people can 00:17:55.02\00:17:59.93 dump here and stop smoking, are there any 00:17:59.94\00:18:02.97 other addictions that perhaps we can help 00:18:02.98\00:18:06.25 people with it? You know smoking 00:18:06.26\00:18:08.10 maybe the hardest as twice as addictive, 00:18:08.11\00:18:10.92 of course when you're addicted, 00:18:10.93\00:18:12.35 you're addicted but somebody told me that 00:18:12.36\00:18:14.47 just very recently I said, it was easier for me to 00:18:14.48\00:18:17.59 give up heroin and it was to give 00:18:17.60\00:18:20.04 up tobacco smoking. Goodness. 00:18:20.05\00:18:22.14 And I was you know, I was surprised with that. 00:18:22.15\00:18:27.11 But it's so pervasive and it's acceptable, 00:18:27.87\00:18:30.50 you know, you can't be shooting up heroin and 00:18:30.51\00:18:33.41 stuff like that. There is a lot of things, 00:18:33.42\00:18:34.96 but society is getting down on it and now the 00:18:34.97\00:18:37.88 most recent thing I heard is there a third 00:18:37.89\00:18:40.35 hand smoke. So it's in the hair, it's in the 00:18:40.36\00:18:43.30 clothes and they can actually measure some 00:18:43.31\00:18:45.92 of these products in infants and children that 00:18:45.93\00:18:49.99 are held by these people who have a close 00:18:50.00\00:18:53.28 contact with smokers and now there is a new 00:18:53.29\00:18:55.85 term, they call it Third Hand Smoke. 00:18:55.86\00:18:58.56 This was just this month I heard that. 00:18:59.47\00:19:01.49 Now, since she has been here, has she 00:19:02.12\00:19:05.65 smoked at all? No. Not at all. 00:19:05.66\00:19:08.54 She stopped the very day she came through 00:19:08.55\00:19:10.55 and that was the problem, day three 00:19:11.02\00:19:12.76 every part of her body was just screaming out 00:19:13.79\00:19:16.43 for something and, so like I said she didn't 00:19:16.79\00:19:18.82 have the confidence that she could do it, 00:19:18.83\00:19:20.65 but she realized where to go, to get that confidence. 00:19:21.34\00:19:24.50 And what did her husband have to say 00:19:24.51\00:19:26.33 to you when he has found out that she quit? 00:19:26.34\00:19:28.39 Oh! What do you think? Because he has been 00:19:28.72\00:19:32.90 smoke free since about 1990. 00:19:32.91\00:19:35.28 Any final words to our viewing audience as to 00:19:36.16\00:19:40.32 what someone might do? 00:19:40.92\00:19:42.52 Well, people think that if they tried to quit 00:19:44.26\00:19:48.34 smoking and they don't, each time they try and 00:19:48.35\00:19:52.69 they fail that there is less of a chance that 00:19:52.70\00:19:56.21 they're gonna ever be able to stop, but it's just 00:19:56.22\00:19:59.26 the opposite. The more times you try, 00:19:59.27\00:20:01.94 the more likely it is that you will finally succeed. 00:20:02.77\00:20:05.50 So, don't ever give up. Alright, thank you 00:20:05.77\00:20:10.15 Dr. Lukens for joining us, God bless and we 00:20:10.16\00:20:13.11 appreciate your wisdom. 00:20:13.12\00:20:14.74 It's really, really my pleasure. 00:20:15.33\00:20:16.90 I'm happy to be here. Thank you, and folks 00:20:16.91\00:20:19.59 don't go away because in our final segment 00:20:19.60\00:20:22.13 we're gonna find out how you too can begin 00:20:22.57\00:20:24.95 your journey to wellness. Don't go away. 00:20:24.96\00:20:27.36 We'll be right back, God bless. 00:20:27.37\00:20:29.23 Hi, I'm Cathy. Welcome to Newstart@Home. 00:20:43.84\00:20:45.96 Today, I have with us Don Mackintosh. 00:20:46.23\00:20:48.12 And Don you're gonna share with us little bit 00:20:48.13\00:20:49.50 about trust. Yes, trust I mean, have you 00:20:49.51\00:20:51.97 ever heard the express 'trust me'? 00:20:51.98\00:20:53.17 Yeah. And what is trust? It's really putting your 00:20:53.18\00:20:56.93 confidence, your faith in someone. 00:20:56.94\00:20:58.52 I have a Bible here today and one of my 00:20:58.94\00:21:00.13 favorite texts is from Proverbs, it says: 00:21:00.14\00:21:02.22 Trust in the Lord with all thy heart and lean 00:21:02.60\00:21:05.98 not unto thine own understanding, in all thy 00:21:05.99\00:21:08.38 ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct 00:21:08.39\00:21:11.13 thy paths. Did you know they did studies 00:21:11.14\00:21:13.88 of people that actually trusted in the Lord with 00:21:13.89\00:21:16.89 all their heart, did you know that? 00:21:16.90\00:21:17.95 No, I didn't know that. And they found amazing 00:21:17.96\00:21:21.26 outcomes with these people. 00:21:21.27\00:21:22.50 For instance, they had fewer symptoms of or 00:21:22.95\00:21:26.39 in better health outcomes concerning 00:21:26.40\00:21:28.02 cancer, high blood pressure, heart diseases 00:21:28.03\00:21:30.70 all of these different areas, and people that 00:21:30.88\00:21:34.24 that end up going to Church what do you 00:21:34.25\00:21:36.30 suppose happens to them? What do you think? 00:21:36.31\00:21:38.88 Gain more trust. They even have more 00:21:38.89\00:21:40.65 trust and it's not just because going to 00:21:40.66\00:21:43.25 Church is good, but because they really 00:21:43.26\00:21:44.89 believe in God. Those that have 00:21:45.27\00:21:46.41 called Intrinsic Religiosity, in other 00:21:46.42\00:21:49.49 words it really was from within, trust in the Lord 00:21:49.50\00:21:51.81 with all thy heart. They had lower death 00:21:51.82\00:21:54.38 rates from all diseases, no matter what else 00:21:54.97\00:21:57.82 they didn't like. And also, if you trust in 00:21:57.83\00:21:59.96 Lord you have an increase in your 00:21:59.97\00:22:02.28 immune system. It just seems to you know, 00:22:02.29\00:22:04.59 if you trust in Lord you trust in the take care of 00:22:04.65\00:22:06.60 things it seems like the immune system goes up. 00:22:06.61\00:22:09.78 Now get this, let me ask you this question. 00:22:09.79\00:22:11.57 Do you suppose that people have more trust 00:22:11.58\00:22:13.11 or less trust, if they attend weekly or 00:22:13.43\00:22:16.84 monthly a Church? Oh! I would think weekly, 00:22:16.85\00:22:19.41 I would hope weekly. Well, I supposed 00:22:19.42\00:22:20.89 depending on the pastor, right. 00:22:20.90\00:22:22.07 But I think any other people of the Church, 00:22:22.08\00:22:24.11 but it is true those that go weekly they have an 00:22:24.12\00:22:28.06 increase benefit across the board. 00:22:28.07\00:22:32.05 And get this, the best part is that people that 00:22:32.86\00:22:35.38 are suffering from various conditions like 00:22:35.39\00:22:38.34 for instance let's take depression. 00:22:38.35\00:22:39.81 All kinds of people struggling with 00:22:40.87\00:22:42.45 depression maybe even some today. 00:22:42.46\00:22:43.83 And those people, they have a hard time even 00:22:44.59\00:22:46.45 believing in God. But once they start 00:22:46.46\00:22:49.57 believing in God and once they start trusting 00:22:49.58\00:22:52.66 Him, did you know they recover from 00:22:52.67\00:22:55.73 depression, 70% sooner than other people. 00:22:55.74\00:22:59.87 So trust is really kind of important. 00:22:59.88\00:23:01.40 Wow! That's very exciting. 00:23:01.41\00:23:03.05 So depressed people, they recover 70% 00:23:03.66\00:23:06.42 sooner, and they have fewer complications 00:23:06.43\00:23:09.39 just about from everything. 00:23:10.39\00:23:11.42 So, bottom-line is I think that trust is 00:23:11.43\00:23:14.24 something that is very important and how do 00:23:14.25\00:23:18.55 you gain trust? You know that might 00:23:18.56\00:23:19.89 be someone to go, but how do you do this at home? 00:23:19.90\00:23:21.78 Can you be trusting at home? 00:23:22.59\00:23:23.72 Sure, yeah how can you 00:23:24.25\00:23:25.28 demonstrate your trust in God? 00:23:25.29\00:23:26.96 Maybe just by calling out to Him, 00:23:27.30\00:23:29.03 laying your cares upon Him, casting your 00:23:29.04\00:23:31.49 burdens upon Him, saying I trust you to 00:23:31.50\00:23:33.98 take care of it. I can't do anything more about it, 00:23:33.99\00:23:36.54 so just help me with it and take care of it for me 00:23:36.91\00:23:39.91 and when that happens then that burden is 00:23:40.18\00:23:43.07 rolled off your chest, rolled off your mind, 00:23:43.08\00:23:45.34 and you can start out. In other way, you 00:23:45.79\00:23:47.87 demonstrate trust is by being with people who 00:23:47.88\00:23:51.22 are trust in God and drawing strengths from 00:23:51.23\00:23:54.05 their faith and you know what do you do? 00:23:54.06\00:23:56.32 I noticed that was some of our guest they come 00:23:56.33\00:23:58.10 through here they are trying to quit smoking 00:23:58.11\00:23:59.67 that they say that they do gain their trust from 00:23:59.68\00:24:02.10 other people when the other people are here, 00:24:02.11\00:24:03.87 the workers that work here, and I've had 00:24:03.88\00:24:06.22 people say that to me that you know I don't 00:24:06.23\00:24:07.85 have enough faith, but put my trust and then 00:24:07.86\00:24:10.44 and they're praying for me and they are gaining 00:24:10.45\00:24:12.29 that trust almost secondhand. 00:24:12.30\00:24:13.98 I mean so they learned to make that habit 00:24:13.99\00:24:15.65 themselves. You know, that's the great thing 00:24:15.66\00:24:17.27 about our program like Newstart, but you can 00:24:17.28\00:24:19.04 do it at home as well Newstart@Home. 00:24:19.05\00:24:22.04 We do this here at the program over 19 days. 00:24:22.05\00:24:24.13 People come from all walks of life. 00:24:24.14\00:24:26.10 They come together. They start to gain trust 00:24:26.11\00:24:28.04 in the people that are giving, 00:24:28.53\00:24:29.54 putting the program on. They put their faith in 00:24:29.55\00:24:31.42 them, and then they see physical outcomes that 00:24:31.43\00:24:33.91 increase their trust more and more over that 00:24:33.92\00:24:36.07 19-day period. They see amazing things, 00:24:36.08\00:24:38.17 but it's not to be done here. 00:24:38.18\00:24:39.36 You can start it right at home, right? 00:24:39.85\00:24:42.56 Yes, you can. What's that text? 00:24:42.57\00:24:43.73 Trust in the Lord with all thy heart and lean 00:24:43.74\00:24:46.26 not to thy own understanding in all thy 00:24:46.27\00:24:48.36 ways acknowledge Him, whether you're 00:24:48.37\00:24:49.95 eating, sleeping, drinking whatever it is, 00:24:49.96\00:24:52.02 and He will direct thy paths. 00:24:52.44\00:24:55.86 Don, is there more information about this 00:24:56.76\00:24:58.08 topic on trust?
