00:17:24.94\00:17:26.34 "to restaurant attacks to airplane standoff..." 00:17:26.37\00:17:31.81 I don't know what's happened to do as Americans. 00:17:31.85\00:17:33.21 As we get on a plane we just lose it all. 00:17:33.25\00:17:35.75 Here's the stats by the way. 00:17:35.78\00:17:37.12 "Just of airplane standoffs 00:17:37.15\00:17:38.72 with more than 4000 unruly passenger reports 00:17:38.75\00:17:42.12 and 3000 plus mask-related incidents to be exact." 00:17:42.16\00:17:46.29 I refused to put that mask on. 00:17:46.33\00:17:49.43 I refused. 00:17:49.46\00:17:50.87 "The country," she writes 00:17:54.20\00:17:55.87 "seems a bit like a balloon ready to pop." 00:17:55.90\00:18:01.28 Perhaps more descriptively accurate word 00:18:01.31\00:18:03.85 would be ready to boom, explode. 00:18:03.88\00:18:08.68 What's going on in this nation? 00:18:08.72\00:18:10.75 You and me, we are part of it. 00:18:10.79\00:18:14.69 She goes on, 00:18:14.72\00:18:16.06 "It's hard to know if the world is angrier 00:18:16.09\00:18:19.49 or if it's a matter of perception." 00:18:19.53\00:18:21.80 Well, just between you and me, 00:18:21.83\00:18:23.33 I have a feeling it's got to be both. 00:18:23.37\00:18:24.90 We're ticked-off, we're scared and by the way, 00:18:24.93\00:18:27.87 that's a bad combination. 00:18:27.90\00:18:30.31 And we have no idea what's coming next, 00:18:30.34\00:18:34.08 especially since they've just announced that this COVID-19... 00:18:34.11\00:18:37.38 This is our second Christmas with COVID-19, 00:18:37.41\00:18:40.82 but this COVID-19 expansion now includes 00:18:40.85\00:18:45.45 a new emendation. 00:18:45.49\00:18:49.16 You know that the scientists have been using the letters 00:18:49.19\00:18:51.03 of the Greek alphabet to track every new little, 00:18:51.06\00:18:54.16 what are called variants. 00:18:54.20\00:18:56.23 And there was alpha, 00:18:56.26\00:18:57.60 nobody heard a word about alpha. 00:18:57.63\00:18:58.97 There was beta and nobody heard about beta. 00:18:59.00\00:19:00.74 And by the way, 00:19:00.77\00:19:02.10 the English word for alphabet is alpha-beta. 00:19:02.14\00:19:04.77 It's just the first two letters of the Greek, 00:19:04.81\00:19:06.37 the Greek alphabet. 00:19:06.41\00:19:07.94 So there was alpha, there was beta, 00:19:07.98\00:19:09.88 there was gamma and nobody heard about it. 00:19:09.91\00:19:11.81 And then delta, oh my, 00:19:11.85\00:19:13.18 we're still suffering under delta. 00:19:13.21\00:19:14.55 Isn't that right? And then there's... 00:19:14.58\00:19:16.69 What is next there? 00:19:16.72\00:19:18.05 There is epsilon and zeta and eta 00:19:18.09\00:19:20.32 and 15 letters into the alphabet. 00:19:20.36\00:19:23.19 They just announced Omicron has arrived. 00:19:23.22\00:19:25.89 In fact, two days ago, it arrived in San Francisco, 00:19:25.93\00:19:28.10 the city by the bay. 00:19:28.13\00:19:29.46 And guess what? 00:19:29.50\00:19:30.83 It's making its way eastward, you can count on it. 00:19:30.87\00:19:34.44 But the deal is nobody knows. 00:33:30.04\00:33:33.11 Isn't that amazing 00:33:33.14\00:33:34.48 that when we concentrate on students 00:33:34.51\00:33:36.01 as we all are doing, 00:33:36.04\00:33:37.71 we forget that there're caregivers 00:33:37.75\00:33:39.85 in our schools on all three campuses 00:33:39.88\00:33:42.15 are experiencing the same darkness, 00:33:42.18\00:33:44.12 the same weary stress related hopelessness? 00:39:53.82\00:39:55.49 In Hebrew, peace and the word is shalom. 00:39:55.52\00:39:58.43 In Hebrew peace comes from the root for wholeness. 00:39:58.46\00:40:02.86 Everything is like whole and complete, 00:40:02.90\00:40:05.13 Rabbi Laurie Green said, 00:40:05.17\00:40:07.47 "So it's not just the absence of conflict." 00:40:07.50\00:40:09.30 Oh, let's have peace on earth, no war. 00:40:09.34\00:40:11.01 That's not what shalom deeply is. 00:40:11.04\00:40:13.81 But there's a kind of internal wholeness with shalom, 00:40:13.84\00:40:16.41 with peace and completion, and that's what brings peace. 00:40:16.44\00:40:20.85 She says, by the way, 00:40:20.88\00:40:22.22 "That the current absence of personal peace 00:40:22.25\00:40:23.95 comes from the need to be in control." 00:40:23.99\00:40:29.16 She knows us too well. 00:45:39.10\00:45:40.44 He said, "You're not going to feel it necessarily. 00:45:40.47\00:45:43.57 Nothing may change but you have to believe it. 00:45:43.61\00:45:47.48 You have to believe 00:45:47.51\00:45:48.84 that that peace is down underneath that darkness. 00:45:48.88\00:45:51.18 It's already there with you." 00:45:51.21\00:45:53.52 It has to be true folks, 00:45:53.55\00:45:54.88 because when Jesus makes the promise about John 14:27, 00:45:54.92\00:45:57.45 "My Peace I leave with you, not as a world give it," 00:45:57.49\00:45:59.22 that promise. 00:45:59.25\00:46:00.72 He's minutes away from deep darkness times three, 00:46:00.76\00:46:05.69 times 30 times... 00:46:05.73\00:46:09.83 and He knows it. 00:46:09.86\00:46:12.27 He's promising peace knowing 00:46:12.30\00:46:15.07 that He's going into that darkness. 00:46:15.10\00:46:16.71 But you know in the darkness when He sobbing, 00:46:16.74\00:46:18.97 "Abba, Father, I beg of You take this darkness away, 00:46:19.01\00:46:21.54 take the cup away from me." 00:46:21.58\00:46:25.41 Through it all, 00:46:25.45\00:46:27.68 He still has peace. 00:46:27.72\00:46:30.29 His peace is believing 00:46:30.32\00:46:32.82 that God will work it all out in the end 00:46:32.85\00:46:35.69 and you have to believe that, my friend. 00:46:35.72\00:46:37.63 You just have to believe God will work it out. 00:46:37.66\00:46:40.50 You can't, but Jesus can. 00:46:40.53\00:46:45.03 Peace I leave with you, 00:46:45.07\00:46:46.40 My peace I give to you. 00:46:49.40\00:46:50.74 I do not give to you as the world gives. 00:46:50.77\00:46:53.58 Now, you can't find it. 00:46:53.61\00:46:55.01 The world doesn't have it for you, give it up. 00:46:55.04\00:46:57.48 Do not let your hearts be troubled 00:46:57.51\00:47:00.15 and do not be afraid. 00:47:00.18\00:47:04.19 Three simple steps, 00:47:04.22\00:47:05.92 go to the source, ask for the gift and finally, 00:47:05.95\00:47:10.03 trust in the Master. 00:47:10.06\00:47:12.86 When He says, "Let not your heart be troubled," 00:47:12.89\00:47:14.50 He means that. 00:47:14.53\00:47:15.86 When He says, "Let not your heart be afraid," 00:47:15.90\00:47:17.33 as it is in the Old King James, He means it. 00:47:17.37\00:47:19.90 Don't be afraid. 00:47:19.93\00:47:21.54 How do we know He means that?
