What did Jesus tell us? 00:49:26.53\00:49:31.44 "A good tree cannot bear bad fruits," 00:49:31.47\00:49:35.65 but I want you to catch the second half of that, 00:49:35.68\00:49:38.91 "a bad tree cannot bear the good fruit." 00:49:38.94\00:49:42.12 You got to get that one. 00:49:42.15\00:49:44.67 And in three weeks I'll tell you why. 00:49:44.70\00:49:47.40 "A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, 00:49:47.43\00:49:48.96 nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 00:49:48.99\00:49:50.94 Therefore by their fruits you will" evaluate them, 00:49:50.97\00:49:56.78 you will come to conclusions about them, 00:49:56.81\00:49:58.80 "by their fruits you will know them." 00:49:58.83\00:50:05.75 Which is why I want to conclude today 00:50:05.78\00:50:06.87 with a personal testimony. 00:50:06.90\00:50:13.76 The reason I'm so deeply convicted 00:50:13.79\00:50:15.18 about the divine of authenticity 00:50:15.21\00:50:16.69 of Ellen White's prophetic ministry 00:50:16.72\00:50:18.98 is because of what the Holy Spirit has done 00:50:19.01\00:50:20.83 in my own heart and life through her writings. 00:50:20.86\00:50:24.70 I was a graduate student 00:50:24.73\00:50:26.19 a few years ago here at Andrews University 00:50:26.22\00:50:28.09 and rolled in the theological seminary. 00:50:28.12\00:50:29.74 One day our professor in class teaching 00:50:29.77\00:50:32.75 from Psalm 139 announced to us 00:50:32.78\00:50:35.57 that we ought to follow David's example 00:50:35.60\00:50:37.60 and ask God to reveal to us our in aid sinfulness. 00:50:37.63\00:50:42.97 So one night before going to bed 00:50:43.00\00:50:44.76 I decided to give it a whirl. 00:50:44.79\00:50:46.91 After all I was a fifth generation Adventist, 00:50:46.94\00:50:48.69 fourth generation preacher 00:50:48.72\00:50:50.54 there's nothing God could show me. 00:50:50.57\00:50:54.54 Nothing happened after I prayed it, 00:50:54.57\00:50:57.04 until three weeks later 00:50:57.07\00:50:59.10 when all hell broke lose spiritually 00:50:59.13\00:51:03.28 as I was suddenly overwhelmed 00:51:03.31\00:51:04.59 with the sense of my own desperate guilt "little sins" 00:51:04.62\00:51:08.52 that I had laughed of in my youth 00:51:08.55\00:51:10.25 suddenly with a vengeance returned. 00:51:10.28\00:51:11.93 I'm franticly trying to purge them out of my mind 00:51:11.96\00:51:14.34 and my memories but I cannot. 00:51:14.37\00:51:17.24 And so I say I'll go back to the professor 00:51:17.27\00:51:19.45 who told us to do this. 00:51:19.48\00:51:20.57 It was his idea in the first place 00:51:20.60\00:51:23.45 and I went back to him but he was old school 00:51:23.48\00:51:26.88 and all he said to me 00:51:26.91\00:51:28.78 in the stairwell in that building was, 00:51:28.81\00:51:31.94 go read Steps to Christ, go read Steps to Christ. 00:51:31.97\00:51:35.61 I stumbled back to our little apartment 00:51:35.64\00:51:37.67 in the Maplewood apartments here on campus, 00:51:37.70\00:51:41.20 and I pulled down from my shelf 00:51:41.23\00:51:43.15 my army navy edition of Steps to Christ 00:51:43.18\00:51:46.33 and I have been given as a boy in Japan. 00:51:46.36\00:51:49.51 I pulled that book out and I began to turn the pages. 00:51:49.54\00:51:55.88 I read about God's love from man. 00:51:55.91\00:52:00.82 And then I read about the sinner's need of Christ. 00:52:00.85\00:52:05.40 And then I come to a chapter called Repentance, 00:52:05.43\00:52:09.94 then Confession, then Consecration 00:52:09.97\00:52:16.00 and here's a chapter I read Faith and Acceptance 00:52:16.03\00:52:20.13 and then another one, The Test of Discipleship. 00:52:20.16\00:52:24.10 Then another chapter, Growing up into Christ. 00:52:24.13\00:52:27.41 Wow. 00:52:27.44\00:52:29.79 And then, the Work and the Life and then a chapter, 00:52:29.82\00:52:34.68 A Knowledge of God, 00:52:34.71\00:52:37.07 the Privilege of Prayer, another chapter 00:52:37.10\00:52:40.01 and finally the last chapter no, next the last chapter, 00:52:40.04\00:52:44.09 What to Do with Doubt and then the last chapter, 00:52:44.12\00:52:46.96 Rejoicing in the Lord. 00:52:46.99\00:52:48.67 I read the little book through. 00:52:48.70\00:52:50.18 Had to read it to get baptized in the eighth grade. 00:52:50.21\00:52:54.09 I'm standing here today ladies and gentleman, 00:52:54.12\00:52:56.94 to personally testify to you that this little classic, 00:52:56.97\00:53:01.04 the title of this classic 00:53:01.07\00:53:02.57 became a self fulfilling prophecy in my life 00:53:02.60\00:53:05.94 and I found the steps back to Christ 00:53:05.97\00:53:10.15 right here, right here. 00:53:10.18\00:53:14.65 I'm telling you, I have tasted of the fruit, 00:53:14.68\00:53:20.43 there is absolutely no equivocation in my mind. 00:53:20.46\00:53:24.70 The Christ anointed, blessed, in filled this woman 00:53:24.73\00:53:31.34 with a prophetic ministry for such a time as this. 00:53:31.37\00:53:37.99 I have found the truth and I invite you please 00:53:40.16\00:53:47.52 to discover the same truth for yourself. 00:53:47.55\00:53:53.43 How did Jesus put it, come on, what did He say? 00:53:53.46\00:53:56.34 Therefore "A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, 00:53:56.37\00:54:01.19 nor can a bad tree bear good fruit." 00:54:01.22\00:54:04.08 So I'm telling you Jesus says, 00:54:04.11\00:54:06.82 "Therefore by their fruits you will know," 00:54:06.85\00:54:14.15 you will know, "by their fruits 00:54:14.18\00:54:18.77 you will know the truth." 00:54:18.80\00:54:24.36 Stand with me, will you? 00:54:24.39\00:54:26.05 Want to
