00:05:48.61\00:05:55.60 He gathers the waters of the sea into jars, 00:05:55.63\00:05:58.56 he puts the deep into storehouses. 00:05:58.59\00:06:01.29 Let all the earth fear the Lord, how big is the universe? 00:18:21.32\00:18:27.12 In 0.9 seconds, 900's of a second, 00:18:27.15\00:18:30.32 it fired an answer back with these words. 00:18:30.35\00:18:35.96 The answer to your question can be seen in 00:18:35.99\00:18:38.01 "on of the most profound 00:18:38.04\00:18:40.56 and humbling images in all of human history." 00:18:40.59\00:18:46.83 I'd like to share that image with your right now. 00:18:46.86\00:18:51.65 It's called the Hubble Ultra Deep Field display. 00:18:51.68\00:18:55.51 There's a picture assembled by a team of astronomers 00:18:55.54\00:18:58.29 for the use of the Hubble Telescope, 00:18:58.32\00:19:00.25 a photographic image displaying 00:19:00.28\00:19:01.76 the farthest known reach of our universe. 00:19:01.79\00:19:08.22 Rather than showing you a still photograph of it, 00:19:08.25\00:19:10.05 I want you to watch a breathtaking video, 00:19:10.08\00:19:15.55 three-dimensional presentation. 00:19:15.58\00:19:19.25 I'll tell you where you can find this in a moment, 00:19:19.28\00:19:21.24 but ponder quietly now what rolls on our screens. 00:19:21.27\00:19:25.40 Astronomers, in 1996, 00:19:31.85\00:19:34.26 attempted to do something extraordinary. 00:19:34.29\00:19:37.14 They pointed the Hubble Space Telescope 00:19:37.17\00:19:38.98 into a part of the sky that seemed utterly empty, 00:19:39.01\00:19:41.88 a patch devoid of any planets, stars and galaxies, 00:19:41.91\00:19:46.51 this area was close to the Big Dipper, 00:19:46.54\00:19:48.44 a very familiar constellation. 00:19:48.47\00:19:50.46 And the patch of sky was no bigger 00:19:50.49\00:19:51.94 than a grain of sand held out at arms length. 00:19:51.97\00:19:55.40 This was a somewhat risky move by the scientists. 00:19:55.43\00:19:58.09 After all, observing time on this telescope 00:19:58.12\00:20:00.35 is in very high demand and some questioned 00:20:00.38\00:20:02.76 whether it would be wasted trying to look at nothing. 00:20:02.79\00:20:05.58 There was a real risk that the images returned 00:20:05.61\00:20:07.67 would be as black as the space at which it was being pointed. 00:20:07.70\00:20:11.54 Nevertheless, they opened the telescope and slowly, 00:20:11.57\00:20:14.61 over the course of 10 full days, 00:20:14.64\00:20:17.28 photons that had been traveling for over 13 billion years 00:20:17.31\00:20:21.07 finally ended their journey on the detector 00:20:21.10\00:20:23.89 of humanities most powerful telescope, 00:20:23.92\00:20:26.44 their feeble signal collected almost one by one. 00:20:26.47\00:20:32.70 When the telescope was finally closed, 00:20:32.73\00:20:35.05 and the images were processed 00:20:35.08\00:20:37.14 the light from over 3,000 galaxies 00:20:37.17\00:20:39.64 had covered the detector, 00:20:39.67\00:20:41.34 producing one of the most profound 00:20:41.37\00:20:42.90 and humbling images in all of human history, 00:20:42.93\00:20:45.84 every single spot, smear, and dot was an entire galaxy, 00:20:45.87\00:20:50.49 and each one containing hundreds of billions of stars. 00:20:50.52\00:20:57.46 Later, in 2004, they did it again, 00:20:57.49\00:21:00.52 this time pointing the telescope 00:21:00.55\00:21:02.13 towards an area near the constellation Orion. 00:21:02.16\00:21:05.99 They opened the shutter for over 11 days 00:21:06.02\00:21:08.40 and 400 complete orbits around the Earth. 00:21:08.43\00:21:12.08 Using detectors with increased sensitivity 00:21:12.11\00:21:14.52 and filters that allowed more light through than ever before, 00:21:14.55\00:21:18.31 over 10,000 galaxies appeared in what became known 00:21:18.34\00:21:21.63 as the Ultra Deep Field, 00:21:21.66\00:21:24.11 an image that represented the farthest 00:21:24.14\00:21:25.94 we've ever seen into the universe. 00:21:25.97\00:21:29.53 The photons from these galaxies left 00:21:29.56\00:21:31.49 when the universe was only 500 million years old, 00:21:31.52\00:21:35.29 and 13 billion years later, they end their long journey 00:21:35.32\00:21:39.04 as a small blip on a telescope's CCD. 00:21:39.07\00:21:43.55 These galaxies, 00:21:43.58\00:21:44.69 while standing absolutely still are racing away from us, 00:21:44.72\00:21:48.19 in some cases, faster than the speed of light. 00:21:48.22\00:21:51.76 The spacetime between us 00:21:51.79\00:21:53.15 and everything else grows larger by the minute, 00:21:53.18\00:21:55.41 pushing the galaxies in this image 00:21:55.44\00:21:56.91 to a distance of over 47 billion light years. 00:21:56.94\00:22:01.89 And because of universal expansion, 00:22:01.92\00:22:03.72 the farther something is away from us, 00:22:03.75\00:22:05.52 the more it's light is shifted toward the red 00:22:05.55\00:22:07.36 and the faster it appears to be moving. 00:22:07.39\00:22:09.59 Edwin Hubble himself discovered this 00:22:09.62\00:22:11.28 by measuring the redshift of many galaxies. 00:22:11.31\00:22:13.82 And it's a measure of not only speed, 00:22:13.85\00:22:16.46 but distance as well. 00:22:16.49\00:22:18.05 Recently, Hubble scientists put the icing on the cake. 00:22:22.64\00:22:26.20 Using the measured redshifts 00:22:26.23\00:22:27.53 of all the galaxies inside the image, 00:22:27.56\00:22:29.62 they made a 3D model of the Ultra Deep Field. 00:22:29.65\00:22:33.23 This is how it looks when we apply the distances 00:22:33.26\00:22:35.31 of the galaxies in the most important image ever taken. 00:22:35.34\00:22:42.05 There are over 100 billion galaxies in the universe. 00:22:42.08\00:22:46.51 Simply saying that number doesn't really mean much to us 00:22:46.54\00:22:48.98 because it doesn't provide any context. 00:22:49.01\00:22:51.42 Our brains have no way to accurately 00:22:51.45\00:22:53.38 put that in any meaningful perspective. 00:22:53.41\00:22:56.58 When we look at this image however, 00:22:56.61\00:22:58.75 and think about the context of how it was made, 00:22:58.78\00:23:01.49 and really understand what it means, 00:23:01.52\00:23:04.17 we instantly gain the perspective 00:23:04.20\00:23:06.13 and cannot help but be forever changed by it. 00:23:06.16\00:23:12.24 We pointed the most powerful telescope ever built 00:23:12.27\00:23:14.68 by human beings at absolutely nothing, 00:23:14.71\00:23:17.43 for no other reason than because we were curious, 00:23:17.46\00:23:20.42 and discovered that we occupy 00:23:20.45\00:23:22.30 a very tiny place in the heavens. 00:23:22.33\00:23:25.27 Oh, Lord, our Lord how majestic 00:23:43.55\00:23:45.44 is Your name in all the earth, 00:23:45.47\00:23:48.60 when I consider your heavens the work of your fingers 00:23:48.63\00:23:50.76 then moon and the stars which you have set in place, 00:23:50.79\00:23:53.06 what is man that you creator. 00:24:02.43\00:24:06.11 Let's take a moment and brood over the numbers of God, 00:24:06.14\00:24:11.04 the numbers of Charles Darwin, we know those numbers, 00:24:11.07\00:24:13.34 this year's the 200th anniversary of his birth 00:24:13.37\00:24:15.72 in Shrewsbury, England, on February 12th 1809. 00:24:15.75\00:24:19.29 This year as it happens to be is also the 150th anniversary 00:24:19.32\00:24:23.03 of his magnum opus 'Origin of Species'. 00:24:23.06\00:24:27.30 Well, on this day that is an anniversary for God 00:24:27.33\00:24:29.54 and His creation, on this creation Sabbath, 00:24:29.57\00:24:32.36 we pushed Charles Darwin to the side 00:24:32.39\00:24:34.59 and focus our bright minds instead on the creator. 00:24:34.62\00:24:38.97 Take the numbers you just heard full by us, 00:24:39.00\00:24:40.79 how far is it to the edge of the universe we live in? 00:24:40.82\00:24:44.35 Grab your study guide, we're gonna begin crunching now 00:24:44.38\00:24:47.04 whether 00:27:52.86\00:27:55.73 Billion galaxies in our universe 00:27:55.76\00:27:58.38 each one with hundreds of billions of stars, 00:27:58.41\00:28:03.61 planets, black holes, white dwarfs, moons, 00:28:03.64\00:28:10.83 in that 3D rendition and that is what 00:28:10.86\00:28:12.50 so inspiring to me that 3D, the ending to that clip 00:28:12.53\00:28:15.55 and I put the website there for you to get it. 00:28:15.58\00:28:17.90 The every smudge moving by you, 00:28:17.93\00:28:20.16 every dot, every spot is an entire galaxy. 00:28:20.19\00:28:23.26 We live in one of those 100 billion galaxies, 00:28:23.29\00:28:26.39 our home galaxy is called the Milky Way 00:28:26.42\00:28:28.00 and NASA took this picture over Devils Tower. 00:28:28.03\00:28:30.56 I want you to look at that. 00:28:30.59\00:28:31.62 I've made it my screensaver that is so good. 00:28:31.65\00:28:34.10 Look at that, that's Devils Tower 00:28:34.13\00:28:36.01 and the Milky Way spread, that's our home galaxy, 00:28:36.04\00:28:39.42 we live near the edge of this galaxy. 00:28:39.45\00:28:42.49 Oh, when you crunch the astronomic numbers, 00:28:42.52\00:28:44.82 ladies and gentlemen, there is only one suitable 00:28:44.85\00:28:46.57 expression to make and that is Wow! 00:28:46.60\00:28:49.39 Jot it down, Psalm 19:1 00:28:49.42\00:28:51.16 "The heavens declare the glory of God, 00:28:51.19\00:28:53.46 the skies proclaim the work of his hands." 00:28:53.49\00:28:56.98 How can you possibly preside over a kingdom 00:28:57.01\00:29:00.41 47 billion light years across? 00:29:00.44\00:29:03.81 You can't do it unless you're God. 00:29:03.84\00:29:07.11 You can't do it unless you're God. 00:29:07.14\00:29:09.73 So we've looked at astronomic numbers. 00:29:09.76\00:29:11.48 Now, let us look at atomic numbers. 00:29:11.51\00:29:13.08 Jot that down please, atomic numbers. 00:29:13.11\00:29:16.02 Keep writing, Steven Weinberg, 00:29:16.05\00:29:17.68 high energy physicist Nobel Laureate 00:29:17.71\00:29:19.59 has concluded that our universe 00:29:19.62\00:29:20.75 is so finely tuned and so intricately wired 00:29:20.78\00:29:23.29 that an energy variation of one part in 10 to the 120th, 00:29:23.32\00:29:29.65 in its formation would have resulted in no life 00:29:29.68\00:29:32.40 anywhere in the universe, 00:29:32.43\00:29:33.46 that's a variation of one part 00:29:33.49\00:29:34.72 out of the number one followed by a 120 zeros. 00:29:34.75\00:29:38.38 That small a variation no life. 00:29:38.41\00:29:41.54 It's called the anthropic principle. 00:29:41.57\00:29:43.30 This universe has been wired from man, 00:29:43.33\00:29:47.52 Anthropas in the Greek, 00:29:47.55\00:29:49.36 it's been wired for the human race. 00:29:49.39\00:29:53.55 Oxford University, 00:29:53.58\00:29:54.61 Professor Roger Penrose has written a book 00:29:54.64\00:29:56.86 'The Large, the Small and the Human Mind'. 00:29:56.89\00:29:59.00 Jot this down, by calculating the entropy of black holes, 00:29:59.03\00:30:02.47 Penrose has concluded 00:30:02.50\00:30:03.87 that the probability of a life-supporting universe 00:30:03.90\00:30:06.28 is 1 in10 to the 10th to the 123rd, 00:30:06.31\00:30:09.64 now you got to write this correctly. 00:30:09.67\00:30:12.31 Our master producer have to work hard to get it. 00:30:12.34\00:30:15.25 You've got multiple exponents there, all right, 00:30:15.28\00:30:17.38 1 times 10 to the 10th and then 10th is to the 123rd, 00:30:17.41\00:30:22.09 that number ladies and gentlemen 00:30:22.12\00:30:23.35 is beyond human comprehension. 00:30:23.38\00:30:25.76 In fact, jot this down, 00:30:25.79\00:30:27.07 if you were to simply write 10 to the 10th to the 3rd, 00:30:27.10\00:30:30.28 it would be written as 10 followed by 999 zeros, 00:30:30.31\00:30:34.14 all right, write those down. 00:30:34.17\00:30:35.64 Now, to write 10 to the 10th to the 123rd in one line 00:30:35.67\00:30:40.61 would extend beyond the bounds of the universe. 00:30:40.64\00:30:43.29 The numbers would go beyond the bounds of the universe. 00:30:43.32\00:30:45.73 That's how big the number is, 00:30:45.76\00:30:47.02 the chances of life creating itself in this universe. 00:30:47.05\00:30:53.19 The latest issue of Adventist World 00:30:56.22\00:30:58.40 contains a piece by George T. Javor, 00:30:58.43\00:31:02.08 biochemist for years at Loma Linda University, 00:31:02.11\00:31:03.96 you'll jot this line down, 00:31:03.99\00:31:05.02 the quotation will continue on the screen, 00:31:05.05\00:31:06.73 "It is estimated" Javor writes, 00:31:06.76\00:31:08.29 "that there are between 10 to the 50th 00:31:08.32\00:31:09.91 to 10 to the 80th atoms in the observable universe." 00:31:09.94\00:31:16.18 Now go to the screen for the rest of the quote. 00:31:16.21\00:31:18.57 "If these were only hydrogen atoms" 00:31:18.60\00:31:20.45 the lightest of all elements, 00:31:20.48\00:31:21.55 "it would have required a minimum of 00:31:21.58\00:31:22.82 3.6 times 10 to the 39th to 3.6 times 10 to the 69th 00:31:22.85\00:31:27.34 calories of energy to create." 00:31:27.37\00:31:29.79 By comparison the world's total electricity consumption 00:31:29.82\00:31:32.73 for the year 2005 was 1.4 times 10 to the 19 infantisable, 00:31:32.76\00:31:39.64 compared with the massive number. 00:31:39.67\00:31:42.62 "While all matters, he goes on, 00:31:42.65\00:31:43.94 came from the hand of a Creator, 00:31:43.97\00:31:45.06 it was a gift to His creatures. 00:31:45.09\00:31:46.12 God is not in matter." 00:31:46.15\00:31:47.18 Please note, only the Creator is eternal, 00:31:47.21\00:31:48.99 matter is not eternal. 00:31:49.02\00:31:50.35 Only the Creator is eternal, but He created matter for us. 00:31:50.38\00:31:53.20 "Nonetheless, the Creator is aware 00:31:53.23\00:31:54.71 of every aspect of His creation," 00:31:54.74\00:31:56.07 I love this, "down to its smallest, 00:31:56.10\00:31:58.25 subatomic level. 00:31:58.28\00:31:59.45 The Lord knows the location 00:31:59.48\00:32:01.06 and function of every one of His 10 to the 80th atoms. 00:32:01.09\00:32:04.25 This much may be inferred from the reference 00:32:04.28\00:32:06.46 Jesus made to God's awareness 00:32:06.49\00:32:07.98 of the smallest entities of the physical realm." 00:32:08.01\00:32:10.87 And then he quotes Matthew 10:29, 30 00:32:10.90\00:32:15.40 and here is-- here's how it goes, Jesus said 00:32:15.43\00:32:18.73 "Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? 00:32:18.76\00:32:21.66 Yet not one of them tumbles to the ground 00:32:21.69\00:32:23.77 but your father does not know. 00:32:23.80\00:32:25.84 "The smallest particles. 00:32:25.87\00:32:28.30 Oh, the Creator's wow factor, astronomic numbers, 00:32:28.33\00:32:32.34 atomic numbers and now finally anatomic, 00:32:32.37\00:32:35.02 write that in, anatomic numbers, 00:32:35.05\00:32:37.03 I'm gonna bring our buddy Kelly up to the pulpit with me now. 00:32:37.06\00:32:40.88 Anatomic numbers, so here's the skeleton, 00:32:40.91\00:32:47.24 the reason I want Kelly to stand before us 00:32:47.27\00:32:48.84 as I want you to marvel at the numbers, 00:32:48.87\00:32:50.90 incredible numbers right here. 00:32:50.93\00:32:52.91 There are 206 parts, this is a 206 parts system, 00:32:52.94\00:32:56.19 all right, so how many ways 00:32:56.22\00:32:59.53 can you put a 206 parts system together 00:32:59.56\00:33:01.36 if it just happened by random, 00:33:01.39\00:33:02.56 how many ways can you put it together? 00:33:02.59\00:33:04.14 One-- if it were only 1 part it would be 1 times 1 is 1, 00:33:04.17\00:33:07.42 If it were 2 parts, it's 1 times 2 is 2. 00:33:07.45\00:33:09.68 If it's 3 parts it's 1 times 2 times 3 is 6. 00:33:09.71\00:33:12.88 If it's 4 parts it's one times 00:33:12.91\00:33:14.34 2 times 3 times 4 is 24 and so on. 00:33:14.37\00:33:16.76 If you did those numbers all the up to 206, 00:33:16.79\00:33:19.81 it's called-- its called 206 factorial, 00:33:19.84\00:33:23.39 you write it 206 with an exclamation mark after the 6! 00:33:23.42\00:33:27.32 Here's the number, jot it down. 00:33:27.35\00:33:28.80 The number of ways a 206 part human skeleton 00:33:28.83\00:33:31.20 can be assembled is 1 x 2 x 3 x 4 times 00:33:31.23\00:33:33.76 and all the way up to 206 or 10 to the 388, 00:33:33.79\00:33:39.10 that's a 1 with a 388 zeroes following it. 00:33:39.13\00:33:42.36 You would need that many tries to get this right, 00:33:42.39\00:33:45.22 and by the way to get it right it's just to connect the parts 00:33:45.25\00:33:47.87 it's not necessarily to have them 00:33:47.90\00:33:48.97 right set up or upside down, that doesn't matter, 00:33:49.00\00:33:50.88 just to get the parts to touch the right parts of touch. 00:33:50.91\00:33:56.60 So how long would it take us to get the human skeleton 00:33:56.63\00:33:58.43 if it were done by random? 00:33:58.46\00:33:59.75 A scientist Jerry Bergman, 00:33:59.78\00:34:00.85 Northwest State College in Archbold, Ohio, 00:34:00.88\00:34:03.12 his second PhD in human biology 00:34:03.15\00:34:04.88 as he notes in an essay I read, jot this down please. 00:34:04.91\00:34:07.72 If you could complete one new random 00:34:07.75\00:34:09.62 trial arrangements of this 206 bones every second, 00:34:09.65\00:34:12.21 so seconds--, try another, 00:34:12.24\00:34:15.06 oh, now we got the skull at the feet come on, 00:34:15.09\00:34:16.70 do that better, 00:34:16.73\00:34:18.01 if you did it every second, notice what he writes. 00:34:18.04\00:34:21.93 "For every single second available 00:34:21.96\00:34:23.50 in all of the estimated 00:34:23.53\00:34:24.72 evolutionary view of astronomic time 00:34:24.75\00:34:26.60 which is between 10 to 20 billion years, 00:34:26.63\00:34:29.03 using the most conservative estimate... 00:34:29.06\00:34:31.12 the chances that the correct general position, 00:34:31.15\00:34:34.04 just general will be obtained by random 00:34:34.07\00:34:35.83 is less than once in 10 billion years." 00:34:35.86\00:34:39.15 So that's how we got it, we got the one, 00:34:39.18\00:34:42.25 my friend that's not in them, 00:34:42.28\00:34:44.27 they're in the right position within the connection, 00:34:44.30\00:34:46.59 that's just getting the connections 00:34:46.62\00:34:49.41 and then Bergman's goes on... 00:34:49.44\00:34:50.78 "For all practical purposes, a zero possibility exists 00:34:50.81\00:34:53.66 that the correct general position of only 206 parts 00:34:53.69\00:34:55.90 could be obtained simultaneously by chance 00:34:55.93\00:34:57.46 and the average human..." 00:34:57.49\00:34:58.54 now, you want to factor something else in, 00:34:58.57\00:35:00.03 "75 trillion cells!..." 00:35:00.06\00:35:02.52 You also got to put those 75 trillion together. 00:35:02.55\00:35:05.08 "This illustration indicates 00:35:08.64\00:35:09.91 that the argument commonly used by evolutionists-- 00:35:09.94\00:35:11.92 'given enough time anything is possible'-- is wanting." 00:35:11.95\00:35:15.77 Write it in, it doesn't-- it doesn't hold up." 00:35:15.80\00:35:20.21 Jot it down, will you? 00:35:20.24\00:35:21.28 Psalm 139:13-14, 00:35:21.31\00:35:24.41 "For you created my inmost being, 00:35:24.44\00:35:26.65 you knit me together in my mother's womb." 00:35:26.68\00:35:28.95 Isn't that fascinating? 00:35:28.98\00:35:30.03 About that little baby score, 00:35:30.06\00:35:31.09 you already knew that, didn't you? 00:35:31.12\00:35:32.36 But that score was carefully put together 00:35:32.39\00:35:34.26 so that it could get out and then grow. 00:35:34.29\00:35:37.63 "You knit me together in my mother's tummy, 00:35:37.66\00:35:40.49 I praise you because I am fearfully 00:35:40.52\00:35:43.78 and wonderfully, hallelujah, made." 00:35:43.81\00:35:48.71 Amazing. 00:35:48.74\00:35:49.79 Listen, the next time you're feeling down on yourself, 00:35:49.82\00:35:51.97 you're feeling little blue, 00:35:52.00\00:35:53.84 the next time here's what I want you to do. 00:35:53.87\00:35:56.43 Just hold your hand out in front of your face. 00:35:56.46\00:35:57.97 Just hold you hand out in front of your face 00:35:58.00\00:35:59.48 and just wiggle these, just wiggle these, 00:35:59.51\00:36:02.32 just stare at that and ask yourself, 00:36:02.35\00:36:04.23 what's up with this? wow factor, 00:39:06.58\00:39:09.15 the W is Wonder, the O is Observe. 00:39:09.18\00:39:13.35 If wonder is an emotional response to creation, 00:39:13.38\00:39:16.12 observe is an intellectual response. 00:39:16.15\00:39:18.60 Write that in. 00:39:18.63\00:39:20.00 Observation is what 00:39:20.03\00:39:21.19 this university teaches as well to do. 00:39:21.22\00:39:25.22 Got a great university, great scientist, 00:39:25.25\00:39:28.19 observe, think, 00:39:28.22\00:39:30.90 that's the point Paul is making, 00:39:30.93\00:39:32.18 I'll put it on the screen for you, 00:39:32.21\00:39:33.24 fill it in, Romans 1:20. 00:39:33.27\00:39:34.74 "For since the creation of the world 00:39:34.77\00:39:36.36 God's invisible qualities, his eternal power 00:39:36.39\00:39:39.48 and divine nature have been clearly seen," 00:39:39.51\00:39:42.02 notice that, seen... 00:39:42.05\00:39:43.50 not imagined, not imagined, 00:39:46.16\00:39:49.05 they've been "seen, 00:39:49.08\00:39:52.57 being understood from what has been made, 00:39:52.60\00:39:54.31 so that men and women are without excuse." 00:39:54.34\00:39:58.33 Paul writes it if we used our eyes 00:39:58.36\00:39:59.75 in careful thoughtful observation, 00:39:59.78\00:40:01.53 there is enough evidence and wondering nature itself 00:40:01.56\00:40:03.69 to convince or at least convict the human spirit 00:40:03.72\00:40:06.20 that an omnipotent creator exists. 00:40:06.23\00:40:11.97 Without reading a single word of scripture, 00:40:12.00\00:40:14.07 through observation I believe, 00:40:14.10\00:40:15.33 through observation it is possible to conclude 00:40:15.36\00:40:18.31 that the preponderance of nature's witness 00:40:18.34\00:40:20.65 is of a care filled, thought filled, 00:40:20.68\00:40:23.71 power filled being who not only 00:40:23.74\00:40:26.73 design the cosmos but superintended 00:40:26.76\00:40:28.40 its continuing existence toward his desired 00:40:28.43\00:40:30.47 and universal harmony and symbioses-- 00:40:30.50\00:40:34.05 symbioses through out his generation, 00:40:34.08\00:40:35.95 how do Paul put it, 00:40:35.98\00:40:37.36 "Since the creation of the world 00:40:37.39\00:40:40.25 God's invisible qualities-- have been clearly seen..." 00:40:40.28\00:40:45.90 Stop looking wonder, wonder observe the last W, 00:40:45.93\00:40:50.17 worship the wow factor, worship, 00:40:50.20\00:40:53.82 it's a last letter of wow 00:40:53.85\00:40:54.95 that summons the creature to respond to its creator. 00:40:54.98\00:40:58.46 For you and for me for us to believe, 00:40:58.49\00:41:01.49 worship becomes our highest expression of adoration 00:41:01.52\00:41:04.43 in thanks giving to the creator. 00:41:04.46\00:41:07.62 Psalm 95:6, jot this down, will you, 00:41:07.65\00:41:10.95 "Come, let us bow down in worship, 00:41:10.98\00:41:13.99 let us kneel before the Lord our Maker." 00:41:14.02\00:41:17.25 You see worship and maker always go together. 00:41:17.28\00:41:19.37 Worship and maker go together, that's the Old Testament. 00:41:19.40\00:41:21.43 Take a look at the New Testament, 00:41:21.46\00:41:23.05 Revelation 4:11, "You are worthy--," 00:41:23.08\00:41:25.69 the old English for worship is worthy sheep, 00:41:25.72\00:41:28.93 worship means worthy sheep in English. 00:41:28.96\00:41:31.68 "You are worthy, our Lord and God, 00:41:31.71\00:41:34.85 to receive glory and honor and power, 00:41:34.88\00:41:36.62 for you created all things, 00:41:36.65\00:41:38.75 and by your will they were created 00:41:38.78\00:41:40.74 and have their being." 00:41:40.77\00:41:41.93 You see worship and creator are twin realities, 00:41:41.96\00:41:44.56 they always go together, they're bound eternally 00:41:44.59\00:41:47.61 in the grateful heart of all creation. 00:41:47.64\00:41:52.56 Classics Steps to Christ puts it this way, 00:41:52.59\00:41:54.28 put it on the screen for you. 00:41:54.31\00:41:55.78 I want you to jot this page number down, 00:41:55.81\00:41:57.55 "God is love" is written upon every opening bud," 00:41:57.58\00:42:02.40 I got to tell you about my dad. 00:42:02.43\00:42:05.13 Dad used to this all the time when we were kids. 00:42:05.16\00:42:08.23 We'd be walking long in Sabbath afternoon, 00:42:08.26\00:42:10.67 or driving along who knows where. 00:42:10.70\00:42:14.11 And he'd see, he'd see a little flower, 00:42:14.14\00:42:16.66 along the walk, he sees a little flower 00:42:16.69\00:42:17.93 and he say hey boys, 00:42:17.96\00:42:21.45 you know what that flower saying? 00:42:21.48\00:42:23.85 What dad? 00:42:23.88\00:42:25.58 God is love, they walk little farther 00:42:25.61\00:42:28.01 and some birds go tweeting over head, 00:42:28.04\00:42:30.97 hey, girl, you know what that bird is singing? 00:42:31.00\00:42:36.49 God is love, every time he'd say, 00:42:36.52\00:42:39.34 finally we got-- we just knew, God is love, 00:42:39.37\00:42:40.95 we'd all pipe up, God is love, it's true. 00:42:40.98\00:42:45.00 Look at this quotation 00:42:45.03\00:42:46.47 "God is love' is written upon every opening bud, 00:42:46.50\00:42:48.97 upon every spire of springing grass. 00:42:49.00\00:42:51.13 The lovely birds making the air vocal 00:42:51.16\00:42:53.28 with their happy songs, the delicately tinted flowers 00:42:53.31\00:42:55.91 in their perfection perfuming the air, 00:42:55.94\00:42:57.71 the lofty trees of the forest 00:42:57.74\00:42:59.22 with their rich foliage of living green -- 00:42:59.25\00:43:01.22 all testify to the tender, fatherly care of our God 00:43:01.25\00:43:05.47 and to His desire to make His children happy." 00:43:05.50\00:43:10.95 Worship, what we are doing right now. 00:43:10.98\00:43:15.12 Worship is the grateful response 00:43:15.15\00:43:17.41 of the creation to the creator, 00:43:17.44\00:43:20.08 but all on you'll see this-- this is truly, 00:43:20.11\00:43:22.49 I mean this is the greatest wow in the history of the universe, 00:43:22.52\00:43:27.91 can you believe this? 00:43:27.94\00:43:30.71 Listen up, the creator of the universe, 00:43:30.74\00:43:33.73 we are talking about all 47 billion 00:43:33.76\00:43:35.94 light years of the universe, 00:43:35.97\00:43:37.30 all right, the 100 billion galaxies. 00:43:37.33\00:43:40.49 Get this, the creator of this universe 00:43:40.52\00:43:43.78 presiding over it all as the reigning monarch, 00:43:43.81\00:43:47.56 the creator of this universe 00:43:47.59\00:43:50.21 came down to the speck of a planet, 00:43:50.24\00:43:54.58 the edge of the milky way 00:43:54.61\00:43:57.40 and it became one of the human race, 00:43:57.43\00:44:00.92 shrunken bones, a brain affected by... 00:44:00.95\00:44:06.95 genetics, He came down. 00:44:09.56\00:44:15.35 Became one with the human race, 00:44:15.38\00:44:18.45 so that we might see a picture of the God 00:44:18.48\00:44:22.16 who rules the cosmos, 00:44:22.19\00:44:24.45 not just so that we might see however a picture 00:44:24.48\00:44:28.49 so that he might die our death. 00:44:28.52\00:44:34.59 That we might have his life, 00:44:34.62\00:44:38.70 in a perfect creation one day forever and ever, amen. 00:44:38.73\00:44:44.70 That's-- name your better wow. Give me a bigger wow. 00:44:44.73\00:44:48.69 Give me any number you want, make it bigger than that, 00:44:48.72\00:44:51.40 you can't do it, you can't do it, 00:44:51.43\00:44:55.20 'cause the biggest wow of all is the wonder of it all. 00:44:55.23\00:44:59.54 Just to think that God loves me. 00:44:59.57\00:45:02.03 Steps to Christ put it back on the screen for you. 00:45:02.06\00:45:03.92 "It was to redeem us that Jesus our Creator lived 00:45:03.95\00:45:07.83 and suffered and died. 00:45:07.86\00:45:09.21 But this great sacrifice was not made 00:45:09.24\00:45:10.87 in order to create in the Father's heart 00:45:10.90\00:45:12.23 a love for man and woman, 00:45:12.26\00:45:13.53 not to make Him willing to save. 00:45:13.56\00:45:15.06 No, no! 00:45:15.09\00:45:16.52 'God so loved the world, 00:45:16.55\00:45:17.65 that He gave His only-begotten Son. 00:45:17.68\00:45:19.19 The Father loves us, 00:45:19.22\00:45:20.52 not because of the great sacrifice, 00:45:20.55\00:45:22.26 but He provided the sacrifice because He loves us." 00:45:22.29\00:45:26.71 Wow, wow, wow that's what worship is, 00:45:26.74\00:45:33.68 when your heart says wow, could it be true. 00:45:33.71\00:45:37.92 There are times when I worship, 00:45:41.83\00:45:47.36 sometimes right here on this platform in first church. 00:45:47.39\00:45:52.91 Spend a whole lot of time worshiping in the front pew 00:45:52.94\00:45:54.44 and second church. 00:45:54.47\00:45:57.00 Sometimes when I'm worshiping all alone in my prayer closet, 00:45:57.03\00:45:59.24 there are times when I worship 00:45:59.27\00:46:01.58 when it feels as if my heart is going to burst. 00:46:01.61\00:46:08.34 I'll kneel there, I'll sit here, 00:46:08.37\00:46:12.55 and while the choir is soaring as it did today, 00:46:12.58\00:46:18.00 or the organ is crescendoing 00:46:18.03\00:46:22.33 while the prays team song-- 00:46:22.36\00:46:24.39 songs are just ascending into heaven, 00:46:24.42\00:46:29.32 I'll sit here and I try to imagine, 00:46:29.35\00:46:34.86 what would it be like, 00:46:34.89\00:46:36.65 if right now the doors to the throne room 00:46:36.68\00:46:41.89 of the temple of the universe swell open. 00:46:41.92\00:46:47.19 And I see the choir and I hear that majestic straight 00:46:47.22\00:46:51.47 what would it be like, 00:46:51.50\00:46:54.04 if I could be ushered in to the very presence 00:46:54.07\00:47:00.08 of almighty God Himself, I'm sitting here, 00:47:00.11\00:47:04.08 I'm imagining this while we're singing. 00:47:04.11\00:47:06.45 I think to myself, if these walls fell away 00:47:13.25\00:47:18.87 and I were there and he was here visible, 00:47:18.90\00:47:24.48 I know what I'd do, I know myself well enough, 00:47:24.51\00:47:29.06 I know I'd fall to my face, 00:47:29.09\00:47:31.85 and I know I would burst into tears, 00:47:31.88\00:47:34.23 I just know I would. 00:47:34.26\00:47:36.06 I've to keep my head 00:47:36.09\00:47:37.12 at certain angle on the front pew 00:47:37.15\00:47:38.63 so that the people around me don't see me, 00:47:38.66\00:47:42.47 I would just start crying 00:47:42.50\00:47:46.40 and when the choirs of angels hushed 00:47:46.43\00:47:50.75 and the silence in the throne room, 00:47:50.78\00:47:53.78 and the one seated on that white throne high 00:47:53.81\00:47:55.62 and lifted up looks down 00:47:55.65\00:47:56.95 at this speck of the human being 00:47:56.98\00:47:59.88 and he quietly asked, why are you here? 00:47:59.91\00:48:03.59 I know, 00:48:21.75\00:48:26.36 that when I could find my voice, 00:48:26.39\00:48:31.22 in a torrent of words, 00:48:31.25\00:48:34.69 I would try to tell him that I'm here, 00:48:34.72\00:48:40.63 because you are the greatest God 00:48:40.66\00:48:43.06 I have ever met in my life 00:48:43.09\00:48:47.33 and I want to give my life to you. 00:48:47.36\00:48:49.33 Sometimes in the quite of my prayer room, 00:48:53.98\00:48:58.26 sometimes in the glory of worship right here 00:48:58.29\00:49:04.09 that's what my hearts want to say to him, 00:49:04.12\00:49:06.60 if only I could find the words but I can't. 00:49:06.63\00:49:13.52 A few decades ago someone finally 00:49:13.55\00:49:17.14 found the words to say and wrote a song, 00:49:17.17\00:49:22.31 it has become a glorious tribute to our creator. 00:49:22.34\00:49:27.54 I was in the stadium 00:49:27.57\00:49:28.61 once filled with 45,000 Christian men 00:49:28.64\00:49:32.31 singing this hymn, at the top of our lungs. 00:49:32.34\00:49:37.34 Oh, Lord, my God, 00:49:37.37\00:49:43.74 when I in awesome wonder, 00:49:43.77\00:49:48.14 wonder consider all the words thy hands have made. 00:49:48.17\00:49:56.05 I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, 00:49:56.08\00:50:01.66 thy power throughout the universe display 00:50:01.69\00:50:06.08 then sings my sole, 00:50:06.11\00:50:09.99 my savior God to the how great thou art. 00:50:10.02\00:50:17.51 Ladies and gentlemen, that's what worship is, 00:50:17.54\00:50:22.73 singing to him, how great you are. 00:50:22.76\00:50:28.42 Let's stand to our feet and sing all four stances. 00:50:28.45\00:50:32.88 O Lord, my God 00:51:07.50\00:51:10.49 When I in awesome wonder 00:51:10.52\00:51:15.23 Consider all the worlds 00:51:15.26\00:51:19.81 Thy hands hath made 00:51:19.84\00:51:22.84 I see the stars 00:51:22.87\00:51:26.31 I hear the rolling thunder 00:51:26.34\00:51:31.02 Thy power throughout 00:51:31.05\00:51:34.52 The universe displayed 00:51:34.55\00:51:39.37 Then sings my soul 00:51:39.40\00:51:42.86 My Savior God, to Thee 00:51:42.89\00:51:48.03 How great Thou art 00:51:48.06\00:51:52.78 How great Thou art 00:51:52.81\00:51:56.32 Then sings my soul 00:51:56.35\00:51:59.92 My Savior God, to Thee 00:51:59.95\00:52:05.68 How great Thou art 00:52:05.71\00:52:10.03 How great Thou art! 00:52:10.06\00:52:16.03 When through the woods 00:52:18.41\00:52:21.58 And forest glades I wander 00:52:21.61\00:52:26.57 And hear the birds sing 00:52:26.60\00:52:30.39 Sweetly in the trees 00:52:30.42\00:52:35.10 When I look down 00:52:35.13\00:52:38.55 From lofty mountain grandeur 00:52:38.58\00:52:43.85 And see the brook 00:52:43.88\00:52:47.27 And feel the gentle breeze 00:52:47.30\00:52:52.67 Then sings my soul 00:52:52.70\00:52:56.23 My Savior God, to Thee 00:52:56.26\00:53:01.50 How great Thou art 00:53:01.53\00:53:05.69 How great Thou art 00:53:05.72\00:53:09.86 Then sings my soul 00:53:09.89\00:53:13.37 My Savior God, to Thee 00:53:13.40\00:53:18.83 How great Thou art 00:53:18.86\00:53:23.72 How great Thou art! 00:53:23.75\00:53:31.10 And when I think 00:53:31.13\00:53:35.14 that God His Son not sparing 00:53:35.17\00:53:40.69 Sent Him to die 00:53:40.72\00:53:44.50 I scarce can take it in 00:53:44.53\00:53:50.25 That on the Cross 00:53:50.28\00:53:53.94 My burden gladly bearing 00:53:53.97\00:54:00.45 He bled and died 00:54:00.48\00:54:03.12 To take away my sin 00:54:03.15\00:54:08.77 Then sings my soul 00:54:08.80\00:54:13.14 My Savior God, to Thee 00:54:13.17\00:54:18.16 How great Thou art 00:54:18.19\00:54:22.79 00:54:40.43\00:54:47.45 When Christ shall come 00:54:47.48\00:54:51.18 With shout of acclamation 00:54:51.21\00:54:55.89 And take me home 00:54:55.92\00:54:59.11 What joy shall fill my heart!
