00:09:55.00\00:10:00.08 Rejoice, rejoice 00:10:03.73\00:10:05.31 Rejoice, rejoice rejoice, rejoice 00:10:05.34\00:10:07.52 Rejoice, rejoice 00:10:07.55\00:10:12.40 Hallelujah 00:10:12.43\00:10:19.37 It's good to have you alumni home. 00:10:29.37\00:10:31.79 Thank you for coming. 00:10:31.82\00:10:33.33 We've look forward to having you. 00:10:33.36\00:10:35.52 Life goes on here of course, whether you're here or not 00:10:35.55\00:10:38.00 but it's always special to see you, 00:10:38.03\00:10:40.60 know that you think of us. 00:10:40.63\00:10:44.67 Good to have class of 88 back. 00:10:44.70\00:10:49.96 Greg parents, nice to have you. 00:10:49.99\00:10:53.43 Todd Copeland I can't believe it, 00:10:53.46\00:10:56.91 as it been 20 years, mercy. 00:10:56.94\00:11:01.30 When we came Todd was a senior in academy. 00:11:01.33\00:11:04.08 He's one of the great kids on this campus, 00:11:04.11\00:11:06.72 nice to have you back, well obviously. 00:11:06.75\00:11:10.64 Nick Scudamore, nice to have you back. 00:11:10.67\00:11:13.41 I think you're the only representative 00:11:13.44\00:11:15.23 of Battle Creek College this year. 00:11:15.26\00:11:18.02 You're not, we're the only ones that got that. 00:11:22.42\00:11:25.15 But Nick is ministry magazine editor 00:11:25.18\00:11:27.88 and his ministering to the world church. 00:11:27.91\00:11:31.57 In a few moments I would like to speak to the economic crisis 00:11:31.60\00:11:38.15 that our nation, world are facing. 00:11:38.18\00:11:41.62 But first I'm gonna pray with you 00:11:46.78\00:11:51.28 and plunge into our teaching today. 00:11:51.31\00:11:55.82 Holy Father, we rejoice, we rejoice for the choir, 00:11:55.85\00:11:58.41 we've rejoiced as a worshiping congregation. 00:11:58.44\00:12:03.36 We gather as family, we gather as community. 00:12:03.39\00:12:07.28 You've a word for us. 00:12:10.12\00:12:12.72 Students and faculty and alumni and community alike 00:12:12.75\00:12:18.04 that the word today please be clear. 00:12:18.07\00:12:20.33 Keep the preacher out of the way, 00:12:20.36\00:12:22.21 that the Spirit have his way. 00:12:22.24\00:12:24.49 We pray in Jesus name, amen. 00:12:24.52\00:12:29.37 Actually in the Book of Acts, 00:12:29.40\00:12:31.07 which is our theme book in this new series Primetime 00:12:31.10\00:12:33.75 there are only two young adults mentioned by name. 00:12:33.78\00:12:38.64 There are hundreds of young adults 00:12:38.67\00:12:39.70 I'm sure in the narrative of Acts, 00:12:39.73\00:12:42.13 but only two are called young 00:12:42.16\00:12:43.64 and then were given their names. 00:12:43.67\00:12:46.54 One of the two we remember 00:12:46.57\00:12:49.14 because he fell asleep in church. 00:12:49.17\00:12:52.25 Have you ever seen somebody fall asleep in church? 00:12:52.28\00:12:54.98 I know you don't, 00:12:55.01\00:12:56.07 but I mean if you seen somebody else 00:12:56.10\00:12:57.77 that kind of doze off. 00:12:57.80\00:13:00.74 Barbara Bush... 00:13:00.77\00:13:02.93 wife of the former president Bush, once remarked. 00:13:02.96\00:13:08.38 If you would take everybody 00:13:08.41\00:13:12.88 who sleeps in church 00:13:12.91\00:13:14.93 and line them up from end to end, 00:13:14.96\00:13:18.01 it would be a whole lot more comfortable. 00:13:18.04\00:13:20.52 This young man is remembered 00:13:24.21\00:13:27.67 because he slept in church. 00:13:27.70\00:13:30.22 But in the story his name means fortunate. 00:13:30.25\00:13:32.03 But in this story there is a paradigm 00:13:32.06\00:13:35.72 for the primetime generation of today. 00:13:35.75\00:13:37.17 And so, with out any further due 00:13:37.20\00:13:39.20 would you please go to the Book of Acts, 00:13:39.23\00:13:42.82 it's our theme book for this series Primetime, 00:13:42.85\00:13:46.38 this is part four. 00:13:46.41\00:13:47.85 "A Laptop, Cell Phone and Plane Ticket" 00:13:47.88\00:13:50.45 it's the title of today's teaching. 00:13:50.48\00:13:51.97 Go to Acts Chapter 20, if you didn't bring a Bible 00:13:52.00\00:13:54.07 we've got a pew Bible right in front of you. 00:13:54.10\00:13:55.88 Grab that pew Bible, this would be page 749. 00:13:55.91\00:14:01.82 Vital paradigm for the church of the primetime generation, 00:14:01.85\00:14:04.92 tucked away in this story in Acts Chapter 20. 00:14:04.95\00:14:08.68 I'll be in the Today's New International Version. 00:14:08.71\00:14:12.57 Any translation you've is fine. 00:14:12.60\00:14:14.29 The New King James is what's in the pew rack. 00:14:14.32\00:14:18.63 Acts 20:7, 00:14:18.66\00:14:20.26 and "On the first day of the week 00:14:20.29\00:14:22.99 we came together to break bread. 00:14:23.02\00:14:26.89 Paul spoke to the people and, 00:14:26.92\00:14:28.29 because he intended to leave the next day, 00:14:28.32\00:14:30.16 he kept on talking until midnight." 00:14:30.19\00:14:33.39 I want to hit the pause button right there 00:14:33.42\00:14:34.65 because you can read that text and you can say, 00:14:34.68\00:14:36.40 oh man, look at that, it's obviously clear 00:14:36.43\00:14:38.26 there haven't Sunday worship in the New Testament. 00:14:38.29\00:14:41.49 It says first day and of course you're right. 00:14:41.52\00:14:44.76 And the overwhelming evidence for the church 00:14:44.79\00:14:47.26 in the New Testament of course is that 00:14:47.29\00:14:48.75 they worshipped on the Seventh day Sabbath. 00:14:48.78\00:14:50.81 So, why this say first day, it's clearly a worship service. 00:14:50.84\00:14:55.34 Scholars are not sure which reckoning, 00:14:55.37\00:14:58.06 time reckoning that Dr. Luke is using here in this narrative. 00:14:58.09\00:15:02.70 He could be using the Jewish way 00:15:02.73\00:15:04.11 of reckoning time or the Roman way. 00:15:04.14\00:15:05.67 Now the Jewish way, 00:15:05.70\00:15:06.78 you remember reckons time from Sun set to Sun set. 00:15:06.81\00:15:10.78 So if this was the first day of the week 00:15:10.81\00:15:12.40 that would mean from Saturday night 00:15:12.43\00:15:14.21 to Sunday evening at sun down. 00:15:14.24\00:15:17.23 In fact, the New English Bible came along, 00:15:17.26\00:15:19.47 used that wing of scholarship and said 00:15:19.50\00:15:21.60 obviously that is the meaning that Dr. Luke intended. 00:15:21.63\00:15:24.37 And so in the New English Bible you read Acts 20:7 in this way, 00:15:24.40\00:15:28.09 "On Saturday" 00:15:28.12\00:15:29.63 you see "On Saturday night in our assembly 00:15:29.66\00:15:32.05 for the breaking of bread, 00:15:32.08\00:15:33.18 Paul, who has to leave the next day addressed them, 00:15:33.21\00:15:35.47 and went on speaking until midnight." 00:15:35.50\00:15:38.17 However if you use the Roman reckoning of time 00:15:38.20\00:15:40.43 that would be like our time be from midnight to midnight. 00:15:40.46\00:15:42.61 So, if we use that reckoning 00:15:42.64\00:15:43.88 this would have to be late Sunday night 00:15:43.91\00:15:45.64 and into early Monday morning, 00:15:45.67\00:15:48.01 because it's an all night meeting. 00:15:48.04\00:15:49.92 Ladies and gentleman, either reckoning you use 00:15:49.95\00:15:52.88 clearly we're not dealing 00:15:52.91\00:15:54.11 with the Sunday morning worship service. 00:15:54.14\00:15:56.08 You say, hey wait a minute, Dwight, 00:15:56.11\00:15:57.16 but it says they broke bread. 00:15:57.19\00:15:58.69 So, that's obviously a reference 00:15:58.72\00:16:00.01 to the Lord's supper, its true. 00:16:00.04\00:16:02.70 Often times breaking bread 00:16:02.73\00:16:04.13 in the Book of ACTS means a Lord's supper 00:16:04.16\00:16:05.71 although sometimes it's just social pot lucking together. 00:16:05.74\00:16:09.10 But probably this was a Lord's supper. 00:16:09.13\00:16:11.15 However Acts 2:46 reads, 00:16:11.18\00:16:14.08 and they went from house to house and broke bread daily. 00:16:14.11\00:16:17.68 So, you can't take breaken bread 00:16:17.71\00:16:19.32 and make that the definition of holy day. 00:16:19.35\00:16:21.69 They did it every day of the week. 00:16:21.72\00:16:23.97 And besides, in here in Troas, 00:16:24.00\00:16:26.74 Paul has already been here seven days, 00:16:26.77\00:16:28.45 he's leaving tomorrow, this is his last chance, 00:16:28.48\00:16:30.70 perhaps they'll never see his face again, 00:16:30.73\00:16:33.24 it's a farewell meeting and so it goes all night long. 00:16:33.27\00:16:38.93 So, they're in that upper room, 00:16:38.96\00:16:41.72 verse 8, the narrative continues. 00:16:41.75\00:16:44.93 "There were many lamps in the upstairs room 00:16:44.96\00:16:48.03 where we were meeting." 00:16:48.06\00:16:49.10 Ah, wait there will be Dr. Luke, 00:16:49.13\00:16:50.56 the writer of Acts, so he's obviously present. 00:16:50.59\00:16:52.73 "There were many lamps in the upstairs room 00:16:52.76\00:16:53.80 where we were meeting." 00:16:53.83\00:16:54.93 Verse 9 "And seated in a window was a young man, 00:16:54.96\00:16:59.34 a young man named Eutychus." 00:16:59.37\00:17:04.02 His name means fortune and I'll tell what, 00:17:04.05\00:17:05.68 he is the fortunate one 00:17:05.71\00:17:07.15 who has chosen the best seat in the house. 00:17:07.18\00:17:09.79 You think about it. 00:17:09.82\00:17:10.88 Luke has just described many lamps 00:17:10.91\00:17:13.05 and these are oil lamps 00:17:13.08\00:17:14.23 that means black smoke and belching heat. 00:17:14.26\00:17:18.37 They're on the third floor, 00:17:18.40\00:17:19.94 they're jam packed, bodies galore. 00:17:19.97\00:17:23.08 That room is stifling. 00:17:23.11\00:17:25.55 It's the young adult to his credit, 00:17:25.58\00:17:27.84 who wisely surmises the seniors and said, 00:17:27.87\00:17:30.20 no way I want to sit in the middle of that 00:17:30.23\00:17:31.96 and he picks an open window 00:17:31.99\00:17:33.42 and props himself up in the seal. 00:17:33.45\00:17:36.71 Brilliant move. 00:17:36.74\00:17:40.00 Verse 9 again, 00:17:40.03\00:17:41.12 "Seated in a window was a young man named Eutychus, 00:17:41.15\00:17:44.37 who was sinking." 00:17:44.40\00:17:45.84 If you ever watch somebody sleep in church, 00:17:45.87\00:17:47.47 you know that is the perfect, that is the perfect definition, 00:17:47.50\00:17:50.88 because you slowly start to sink. 00:17:50.91\00:17:53.04 You catch yourself and you go back and forth. 00:17:53.07\00:17:55.51 You don't think I see it, 00:17:55.54\00:17:56.61 but I always watch it from upfront here. 00:17:56.64\00:17:58.83 And it is a great, 00:17:58.86\00:18:01.00 I just love the way you try to cover it up by putting that 00:18:01.03\00:18:03.73 that bulletin in front of you. 00:18:03.76\00:18:05.58 We know what you're doing behind the bulletin, 00:18:05.61\00:18:07.89 because before you fall a sleep your hand falls down. 00:18:07.92\00:18:11.06 You don't know that, 00:18:11.09\00:18:12.12 but that's what happens, all right. 00:18:12.15\00:18:13.72 So, here's what's happening here see, 00:18:13.75\00:18:15.40 "Seated in a window was a young man named Eutychus, 00:18:15.43\00:18:17.47 who was sinking into a deep sleep 00:18:17.50\00:18:20.13 as Paul talked on and on." 00:18:20.16\00:18:24.49 Hallelujah. 00:18:24.52\00:18:25.55 Those of us who're long winded preachers 00:18:25.58\00:18:27.40 take great comfort and refuge in the mighty of apostle Paul 00:18:27.43\00:18:31.36 who keeps preaching and preaching and preaching. 00:18:31.39\00:18:34.89 You go Paul. 00:18:34.92\00:18:37.25 So, "Eutychus, was sinking into a deep sleep 00:18:37.28\00:18:39.94 as Paul talked on and on." 00:18:39.97\00:18:41.81 Now here comes the tragedy. 00:18:41.84\00:18:44.04 "When he was sound asleep." 00:18:44.07\00:18:46.94 Once you're sound asleep wherever you're, 00:18:46.97\00:18:49.44 you're out of control, trust me. 00:18:49.47\00:18:51.64 Your head is bobbing every which way, 00:18:51.67\00:18:54.82 we all know by the way what's happened. 00:18:54.85\00:18:57.66 But, "when he was sound asleep" 00:18:57.69\00:18:59.41 obviously his head bobs out. 00:18:59.44\00:19:05.08 He has been sitting there, 00:19:05.11\00:19:07.53 the fresh cool night breeze just suck it in. 00:19:07.56\00:19:12.62 None of that oily lamp, none of those smelly bodies, 00:19:12.65\00:19:16.72 listening to the verbal's preacher, 00:19:16.75\00:19:19.05 but when he goes tragically, his head leads the way. 00:19:19.08\00:19:25.57 And "He fell to the ground from the third storey 00:19:25.60\00:19:31.22 and was picked up dead." 00:19:31.25\00:19:33.93 Now, like in Europe, ground floor has no number, 00:19:33.96\00:19:37.50 it's in the Middle East, 00:19:37.53\00:19:40.13 so, its ground, one, two, three. 00:19:40.16\00:19:42.35 So, when he says third floor, 00:19:42.38\00:19:44.00 he's talking about our fourth storey, 00:19:44.03\00:19:46.13 that between 30 to 40 feet. 00:19:46.16\00:19:48.18 He goes head first, no doubt, he went head first. 00:19:48.21\00:19:52.00 Massive head trauma and he's dead. 00:19:52.03\00:19:55.04 You say, no, he's not dead Dwight, 00:19:55.07\00:19:56.52 he's just unconscious. 00:19:56.55\00:19:57.75 Oh, you forget, who's right in the storey, 00:19:57.78\00:20:00.09 a physician, who obviously carefully chooses his words 00:20:00.12\00:20:04.31 and the words are dead. 00:20:04.34\00:20:07.17 Dead. 00:20:07.20\00:20:10.89 And alive. 00:20:10.92\00:20:13.04 There's still good news coming. 00:20:13.07\00:20:14.85 So, he's dead, 00:20:14.88\00:20:16.16 you can hear the shriek in that jam packed upper floor 00:20:16.19\00:20:20.29 as the entire congregation, 00:20:20.32\00:20:22.09 and by the way the stairs 00:20:22.12\00:20:23.16 are all on the outside in the Middle East. 00:20:23.19\00:20:24.92 So, they're all pounded down those stairs 00:20:24.95\00:20:28.23 and when they take him up, Luke says he was dead. 00:20:28.26\00:20:31.95 They're holding the corpse, still warm. 00:20:31.98\00:20:35.41 Paul, Paul the short stocky apostle, 00:20:35.44\00:20:39.56 half blind, in the dark 00:20:39.59\00:20:42.67 trying to make his way down that same stairs 00:20:42.70\00:20:45.11 and I'm sure he's praying out loud to the God of Israel 00:20:45.14\00:20:47.73 and the Lord Jesus Christ, save this boy. 00:20:47.76\00:20:50.64 And when Paul comes down, what verse is this? 00:20:50.67\00:20:54.15 Verse 10, "Paul went down," see four flights. 00:20:54.18\00:20:58.83 Paul went down and he does what he Elijah did 00:20:58.86\00:21:02.44 when he walked into the room of the dead boy, 00:21:02.47\00:21:03.84 he does what Elijah did 00:21:03.87\00:21:05.05 when he walked into the room of the dead boy, 00:21:05.08\00:21:06.48 Paul does the same thing, he throws himself 00:21:06.51\00:21:09.03 and he "threw himself on the young man 00:21:09.06\00:21:11.67 and he put his arms around him." 00:21:11.70\00:21:14.64 And he just hugged the body. 00:21:14.67\00:21:17.15 He hugged the body. 00:21:17.18\00:21:19.56 Until finally, Paul could look up 00:21:19.59\00:21:22.65 and says here in the TNIV, 00:21:22.68\00:21:24.18 "Don't be alarmed" in the Greek it says, 00:21:24.21\00:21:25.71 stop your agitation. 00:21:25.74\00:21:27.48 Obviously there's a commotion going on. 00:21:27.51\00:21:30.23 Time out. 00:21:30.26\00:21:31.96 He's alive. 00:21:31.99\00:21:34.87 Eutychus eyes flutter, 00:21:34.90\00:21:37.25 that young adult said something like, what happened? 00:21:37.28\00:21:41.07 And you can be sure ladies and gentlemen, 00:21:41.10\00:21:43.19 that beneath, that starry, starry night 00:21:43.22\00:21:46.63 there was an instantaneous 00:21:46.66\00:21:49.40 prayer service on the ground floor. 00:21:49.43\00:21:53.63 There's been a resurrection, he lived. 00:21:53.66\00:21:56.80 And Paul, bless his soul, 00:21:56.83\00:21:58.77 not want to be distracted by the dramatic, 00:21:58.80\00:22:00.75 turns to the crowd and says, hey, listen folks, 00:22:00.78\00:22:01.97 I was just in the middle of a sense, 00:22:02.00\00:22:03.23 I've more I need to say just get up, get up, get up, 00:22:03.26\00:22:05.09 lets go up there I want to still talk to you. 00:22:05.12\00:22:07.31 And that's exactly what happened here in verse 11. 00:22:07.34\00:22:09.58 "Then he, Paul went upstairs again 00:22:09.61\00:22:11.07 and broke bread and ate. 00:22:11.10\00:22:12.19 And after talking until daylight, he left." 00:22:12.22\00:22:14.32 Now, notice verse 12, 00:22:14.35\00:22:15.46 "And the people took the young man home alive 00:22:15.49\00:22:17.81 and were greatly comforted." 00:22:17.84\00:22:22.72 Why would we share a story like this on a alumni Sabbath? 00:22:22.75\00:22:27.30 Could it be, that in the story of Eutychus, 00:22:27.33\00:22:29.56 there's the paradigm tucked away 00:22:29.59\00:22:31.32 about the church of the primetime generation. 00:22:31.35\00:22:34.60 There's a word I intentionally skipped over, 00:22:34.63\00:22:38.35 when we read it without comment. 00:22:38.38\00:22:39.86 I want to go back to that word. 00:22:39.89\00:22:41.45 Acts-- verse 7 here in Acts 20. 00:22:41.48\00:22:44.03 And "On the first day of the week 00:22:44.06\00:22:45.10 we came together to break bread. 00:22:45.13\00:22:46.91 And Paul spoke to the people 00:22:46.94\00:22:48.04 and because he intended to leave the next day, 00:22:48.07\00:22:50.42 he kept on talking until midnight." 00:22:50.45\00:22:53.27 Now, the Greek words for kept on talking, 00:22:53.30\00:22:55.24 is not kept on preaching. 00:22:55.27\00:22:56.67 He's not preaching now. 00:22:56.70\00:22:58.27 Something else is happening 00:22:58.30\00:22:59.84 on the fourth floor of that little Troas building. 00:22:59.87\00:23:05.64 Something else is going on. 00:23:05.67\00:23:06.91 In fact the Greek word here is dialegomai 00:23:06.94\00:23:09.94 from whence comes our word dialogue. 00:23:09.97\00:23:11.78 So, they're having a back to front, 00:23:11.81\00:23:15.75 front to back, Q and A question, conversation. 00:23:15.78\00:23:19.67 I got a question Paul, he's open at, 00:23:19.70\00:23:21.88 surely opening up his heart. 00:23:21.91\00:23:23.30 One last time I'll tell you about Jesus, 00:23:23.33\00:23:24.81 let me tell you the story of Calvary again. 00:23:24.84\00:23:26.65 Some where in the night, some body says, 00:23:26.68\00:23:28.02 but Paul how are we gonna reach Troas, 00:23:28.05\00:23:29.43 back in forth the conversation goes. 00:23:29.46\00:23:33.12 Now, here's the point ladies and gentleman, 00:23:33.15\00:23:35.59 they're talking to themselves. 00:23:35.62\00:23:37.65 And while the church was talking to themselves 00:23:37.68\00:23:42.65 the young adult fell away. 00:23:42.68\00:23:47.01 That point is so significant, 00:23:47.04\00:23:48.18 I wish you would right it down right now. 00:23:48.21\00:23:49.73 Would you take your study guide, 00:23:49.76\00:23:50.84 it's in your alumni bulletin today. 00:23:50.87\00:23:52.59 Reach inside to pull up that study guide 00:23:52.62\00:23:54.12 if you didn't get one 00:24:04.00\00:24:05.60 All the way up to the balcony, 00:24:05.63\00:24:06.93 the choir has these study guides. 00:24:06.96\00:24:10.96 That point is so significant, we need to jot it down. 00:24:10.99\00:24:13.64 And by the way well we're handing those out here, 00:24:13.67\00:24:15.27 those who're watching on television, 00:24:15.30\00:24:17.11 we're delighted to have you. 00:24:21.42\00:24:26.74 You're looking for the series called Primetime, 00:24:26.77\00:24:28.85 this is part four. 00:24:28.88\00:24:30.00 Title of this teaching "Pentecost II, 00:24:30.03\00:24:32.22 a Laptop, Cell Phone and Plane Ticket." 00:24:32.25\00:24:34.83 When you see that title, 00:24:34.86\00:24:36.22 you'll see study guide right under it, 00:24:36.25\00:24:37.50 you click that, you'll have the very same study guide 00:24:37.53\00:24:41.11 there on your computer screen. 00:24:41.14\00:24:43.08 All right, lets get the point while still fresh in our minds. 00:24:43.11\00:24:45.04 Jot it down, will you please? 00:24:45.07\00:24:46.33 Right there at the top of the study guide, 00:24:46.36\00:24:47.70 the Greek word for talking is dialegomai 00:24:47.73\00:24:50.76 from whence comes our word dialogue, 00:24:50.79\00:24:52.74 they're having a tete-a-tete, 00:24:52.77\00:24:54.02 they're going back and forth, they're talking to themselves, 00:24:54.05\00:24:57.03 they're having a dialogue 00:24:57.06\00:24:58.41 and it that word refers to a collective conversation 00:24:58.44\00:25:00.69 between the speaker and the audience. 00:25:00.72\00:25:01.90 What's the point, Dwight? 00:25:01.93\00:25:03.02 The point is this, 00:25:03.05\00:25:04.08 while the church was talking to themselves, 00:25:04.11\00:25:06.66 the young adult dropped out. 00:25:06.69\00:25:08.57 It happened while the church was talking to themselves. 00:25:08.60\00:25:12.33 I love this community faith that I was born into. 00:25:12.36\00:25:16.71 Fifth generation Adventist, forth generation preacher. 00:25:16.74\00:25:19.06 I've hang around this church for a long time. 00:25:19.09\00:25:21.02 I can tell you something about 00:25:21.05\00:25:22.09 the Seventh-day Adventist church, 00:25:22.12\00:25:23.15 most of you're gonna agree. 00:25:23.18\00:25:24.34 In fact, some of you, any denomination that you might 00:25:24.37\00:25:26.89 represent those of you watching 00:25:26.92\00:25:29.43 I've a feeling you're gonna say the same. 00:25:29.46\00:25:31.58 Because about our church this church I love, 00:25:31.61\00:25:33.62 we love talking to each other. 00:25:33.65\00:25:36.94 I mean, we just love talking to each other 00:25:36.97\00:25:40.12 and then we throw in our in house 00:25:40.15\00:25:44.44 collective conversations into publication 00:25:44.47\00:25:47.16 just to keep the conversations going. 00:25:47.19\00:25:49.80 So, you've Spectrum magazine and the Journal 00:25:49.83\00:25:51.91 of the Adventist Theological Association, 00:25:51.94\00:25:53.99 two very contrary journals 00:25:54.02\00:25:56.05 that carry on sometimes heated conversations with each other 00:25:56.08\00:25:59.08 over issues dear at least to the editors and the readers. 00:25:59.11\00:26:02.48 You've the Adventist Review and you've Adventist Today 00:26:02.51\00:26:04.85 who love to carryon sometimes very defensive conversations 00:26:04.88\00:26:09.08 over issues dear to the editors and at least to the readers. 00:26:09.11\00:26:11.91 We love to talk to each other 00:26:11.94\00:26:15.04 and by the way nothing will stir up our juices 00:26:15.07\00:26:18.37 more quickly than a good theological 00:26:18.40\00:26:20.38 or a ecclesiastical controversy. 00:26:20.41\00:26:22.25 Let's get into it, pull up here, 00:26:22.28\00:26:23.71 put your dukes up, lets talk. 00:26:23.74\00:26:27.16 We love to talk to each other. 00:26:27.19\00:26:29.07 But in the process, 00:26:29.10\00:26:31.01 we've a generation of young adults 00:26:31.04\00:26:32.77 today young Eutychus, 00:26:32.80\00:26:34.64 who are watching and listening from the periphery. 00:26:34.67\00:26:36.86 They're sitting in the window seals, 00:26:36.89\00:26:38.35 they're standing in the backdoor 00:26:38.38\00:26:40.57 and they are wondering, 00:26:40.60\00:26:42.15 shall I come in or shall I leave? 00:26:42.18\00:26:44.79 While we're talking to each other, 00:26:44.82\00:26:47.20 creating this collective heat and noise there they are. 00:26:47.23\00:26:52.49 Until today we've a generation in the church 00:26:52.52\00:26:55.50 that is not in the church today. 00:26:55.53\00:26:59.50 Allen Martin, teachers over here 00:26:59.53\00:27:01.46 at the theological seminar. 00:27:01.49\00:27:02.80 My friend Allen wrote an article, 00:27:02.83\00:27:04.56 Nick, for your great journal Ministry Magazine 00:27:04.59\00:27:07.23 this summer, July. 00:27:07.26\00:27:09.55 And in this, Allen, is a professor 00:27:09.58\00:27:12.15 for discipleship of family ministry here. 00:27:12.18\00:27:14.46 In this piece he noted and jot these, 00:27:14.49\00:27:16.55 you can't believe these numbers, 00:27:16.58\00:27:17.61 look at them ladies and gentlemen, jot them down. 00:27:17.64\00:27:19.62 The median age for the North, 00:27:19.65\00:27:21.66 for North American Seventh-day Adventist is 58, 00:27:21.69\00:27:25.44 compared to the median ages 00:27:25.47\00:27:26.96 of the United States and Canada, 00:27:26.99\00:27:28.27 36 and 37 respectively. 00:27:28.30\00:27:31.87 Can you believe that number? Keep writing. 00:27:31.90\00:27:35.07 More than 1,000 local Adventist churches 00:27:35.10\00:27:37.72 out of a total of 5,500 in North America 00:27:37.75\00:27:40.40 have no children or teens at all. 00:27:40.43\00:27:42.43 I'll tell you where those churches are going. 00:27:42.46\00:27:43.70 They're going adios. 00:27:43.73\00:27:49.37 They'll die off. 00:27:49.40\00:27:51.42 Come on we're not dealing with rocket science here. 00:27:51.45\00:27:54.75 Our own, Roger Dudley, 00:27:54.78\00:27:57.36 seminal landmark research on the Adventist young, 00:27:57.39\00:28:01.86 Allen's quoting Roger here, 00:28:01.89\00:28:03.64 can you see the quotation from Roger study, 00:28:03.67\00:28:05.48 "it seems reasonable to believe 00:28:05.51\00:28:07.39 that at least 40 to 50 percent 00:28:07.42\00:28:09.89 of Seventh-day Adventist teenagers," 00:28:09.92\00:28:11.95 40 to 50 percent of teenagers 00:28:11.98\00:28:14.53 "are essentially leaving the church 00:28:14.56\00:28:16.30 by their middle twenties." 00:28:16.33\00:28:18.68 By the time they become young adults 00:28:18.71\00:28:20.85 it really is audios. 00:28:20.88\00:28:23.20 They're just leaving, 40 to 50 percent. 00:28:23.23\00:28:26.30 Wow. 00:28:26.33\00:28:27.41 You say, ah come on, pastor, 00:28:27.44\00:28:29.55 that's not just a problem of the church, 00:28:29.58\00:28:31.42 that's the problem of all the society, 00:28:31.45\00:28:32.76 they're all checking out these young. 00:28:32.79\00:28:34.30 Oh my friend I bet to differ with you 00:28:34.33\00:28:37.41 in this presidential psycho. 00:28:37.44\00:28:40.17 There is a candidate named, Barack Obama, 00:28:40.20\00:28:42.94 who by the hundreds of thousands 00:28:42.97\00:28:45.39 has attracted the young to his candidacy. 00:28:45.42\00:28:47.95 Don't you tell me that young adults 00:28:47.98\00:28:49.75 are checking out of the process, 00:28:49.78\00:28:51.42 they are has never before 00:28:51.45\00:28:53.18 in the political process engaged this year. 00:28:53.21\00:28:55.90 Oh, well, of course doesn't mean 00:29:02.98\00:29:06.14 that we've lost all the young in the church, you're right. 00:29:06.17\00:29:11.97 Not only our young adults 00:29:12.00\00:29:13.07 engaged in the political process, 00:29:13.10\00:29:14.53 they're also engaged in the spiritual process. 00:29:14.56\00:29:17.88 Which means that by no means are they all checking out. 00:29:17.91\00:29:20.29 Thousands, listen to this thousands, 00:29:20.32\00:29:22.51 I don't know what the number would be, 00:29:22.54\00:29:23.73 thousands of Seventh-day Adventist young adults, 00:29:23.76\00:29:26.49 just before Christmas will gather in San Jose, California 00:29:26.52\00:29:30.75 this year in the seventh annual GYC, 00:29:30.78\00:29:34.42 Generation of Youth for Christ Convocation. 00:29:34.45\00:29:37.64 They'll pay their own way, 00:29:37.67\00:29:39.06 they'll come from all over the continent. 00:29:39.09\00:29:41.13 Do you know why they'll gather? 00:29:41.16\00:29:42.48 Because they're tried of the Church 00:29:42.51\00:29:43.97 talking to itself that's why. 00:29:44.00\00:29:45.85 They're ready to take things in their own hands. 00:29:45.88\00:29:48.17 If nobody else wants to enlist us 00:29:48.20\00:29:54.25 we'll engage ourselves in a new conversation. 00:29:54.28\00:29:59.94 This Christmas by the thousands. 00:29:59.97\00:30:03.41 I got an email from a young adult here 00:30:03.44\00:30:05.77 at Andrews University, this week. 00:30:05.80\00:30:09.27 Mayor hall, Pastor Nelson, 00:30:09.30\00:30:11.74 you've talked a lot about revival in the past few weeks, 00:30:11.77\00:30:14.54 revival on the Andrews University campus, 00:30:14.57\00:30:16.63 revival in the world as a whole. 00:30:16.66\00:30:18.50 We're tangentially facing that 00:30:18.53\00:30:19.97 because as the primetime series gets us back 00:30:20.00\00:30:21.83 to when the Church was revived, 00:30:21.86\00:30:23.20 nothing wrong with thinking about it all over again. 00:30:23.23\00:30:25.57 So, you've talked a lot about this. 00:30:25.60\00:30:27.17 I'm a student at Andrews 00:30:27.20\00:30:28.51 and I share that dream what can I do? 00:30:28.54\00:30:31.82 I've prayed about it 00:30:31.85\00:30:32.95 and the spirit told me that you might have ideas 00:30:32.98\00:30:34.72 of how I can make help make that dream reality. 00:30:34.75\00:30:36.96 Thank you for your time and he signs his name. 00:30:36.99\00:30:39.43 I wrote him back, I said, we got to talk. 00:30:39.46\00:30:42.88 The point is ladies and gentlemen, 00:30:42.91\00:30:45.16 they're here young adults 00:30:45.19\00:30:48.87 who are saying I want to get involved. 00:30:48.90\00:30:51.72 I want the church to be revived, 00:30:51.75\00:30:53.13 I want to have, is there any thing I can do? 00:30:53.16\00:30:57.90 Tell me they're all checked out. 00:30:57.93\00:31:00.88 Next time you see Barack Obama remind yourself, 00:31:00.91\00:31:04.05 you can still appeal to the young 00:31:04.08\00:31:06.26 for a cause bigger than themselves. 00:31:06.29\00:31:09.33 The plain truth is ladies and gentlemen, 00:31:09.36\00:31:11.09 that we're a Church desperately in need of another Pentecost 00:31:11.12\00:31:14.86 and a new primetime generation. 00:31:14.89\00:31:19.26 Back on, I want to be really candid with you now. 00:31:19.29\00:31:22.11 I kind of think out loud with you. 00:31:22.14\00:31:24.34 I wonder if the economic crisis 00:31:24.37\00:31:26.72 that our nation and world are facing today, 00:31:26.75\00:31:29.83 by the way while we're worshiping here right now, 00:31:29.86\00:31:34.74 they're trying to figure it out. 00:31:34.77\00:31:36.79 I wonder to myself could this become a catalyst 00:31:36.82\00:31:40.82 for the Pentecost two generation. 00:31:40.85\00:31:45.78 I mean you look at how similar the times were, 00:31:45.81\00:31:47.50 2,000 years apart. 00:31:47.53\00:31:49.16 But did little bit of research. 00:31:49.19\00:31:50.79 Here's Philip Harland from York University in Toronto. 00:31:50.82\00:31:55.72 He has written a piece called 00:31:55.75\00:31:57.17 "The Economy of First Century Palestine: 00:31:57.20\00:31:59.63 The State of Scholarly Discussion" 00:31:59.66\00:32:01.27 and I'm reading his analysis. 00:32:01.30\00:32:03.09 I'm amazed at the striking similarities 00:32:03.12\00:32:04.99 between our 2,000 years apart economies. 00:32:05.02\00:32:08.15 This is in your study guide, 00:32:08.18\00:32:09.26 I'll put it on the screen this is Harland. 00:32:09.29\00:32:11.04 "In that first century AD 00:32:11.07\00:32:12.43 more and more of the land in Palestine 00:32:12.46\00:32:14.23 became concentrated 00:32:14.26\00:32:16.53 'into the hands of fewer large landowners 00:32:16.56\00:32:19.30 at the expense of the peasants,'" 00:32:19.33\00:32:20.51 what's going on? 00:32:20.54\00:32:21.57 "The forfeiture of land due to indebtedness 00:32:21.60\00:32:24.96 was a main cause of peasants losing their land" 00:32:24.99\00:32:28.90 Sounds like am economic melt down to me. 00:32:28.93\00:32:31.15 Sounds like what we're having today. 00:32:31.18\00:32:32.44 Tenth, now, 10,000 houses, 00:32:32.47\00:32:36.13 homes a day are being foreclosed 00:32:36.16\00:32:38.63 in United States alone, 00:32:38.66\00:32:39.69 not a word about Canada, 10,000 a day. 00:32:39.72\00:32:43.10 Because the peasantry is in debt, 00:32:43.13\00:32:45.77 we can't keep this up any longer. 00:32:45.80\00:32:47.96 And what's happening with the wealthy landowners? 00:32:47.99\00:32:49.88 Read Wall Street investment banks 00:32:49.91\00:32:53.14 who have gobbled up such massive amounts of toxic death 00:32:53.17\00:32:56.19 that they're threatening to collapse 00:32:56.22\00:32:57.67 an entire economy as a consequence. 00:32:57.70\00:33:00.29 You want to talk about the economy? 00:33:00.32\00:33:01.80 The whole nation is talking about it. 00:33:01.83\00:33:03.45 We can worship and think about it as well. 00:33:03.48\00:33:06.07 Bloomberg.com, 00:33:06.10\00:33:07.49 I read a fascinating piece last week. 00:33:07.52\00:33:09.79 Analyzing the last ten days, what's happened. 00:33:09.82\00:33:13.04 I didn't know, you didn't know this, 00:33:13.07\00:33:14.62 but apparently, all right apparently 00:33:14.65\00:33:17.71 last Thursday a week ago 00:33:17.74\00:33:21.18 we came to the preceptors edge 00:33:21.21\00:33:23.47 of an economic melt down in this nation. 00:33:23.50\00:33:28.45 Hank Paulson, the secretary treasurer here 00:33:28.48\00:33:30.61 in the United States and Ben Bernanke, 00:33:30.64\00:33:32.41 the chairman of the Federal Reserve, 00:33:32.44\00:33:34.24 we're in Nancy Pelosi's office a week ago Thursday, 00:33:34.27\00:33:37.95 sitting about on a oak table, 00:33:37.98\00:33:39.22 twelve congressional leaders have gathered. 00:33:39.25\00:33:44.05 And Paulson and Bernanke took turns describing 00:33:44.08\00:33:47.09 where we are as we ever we could go Thursday night. 00:33:47.12\00:33:50.41 Apparently I didn't know this either 00:33:50.44\00:33:52.43 but the credit lines had frozen, completely frozen. 00:33:52.46\00:33:55.67 So that banks were refusing to lend to even banks 00:33:55.70\00:33:58.83 and if banks will not pass money, it's over. 00:33:58.86\00:34:01.25 You shut the whole system down 00:34:01.28\00:34:02.74 and apparently Wednesday night quietly 00:34:02.77\00:34:05.77 money is being withdrawn outside our country 00:34:05.80\00:34:09.08 and placed away from United States. 00:34:09.11\00:34:13.68 So, Bernanke gets up, 00:34:13.71\00:34:15.51 according to this boomberg.com piece, 00:34:15.54\00:34:17.63 he gets up and he announces to the them, 00:34:17.66\00:34:22.09 of course, this is after the Lehman Brothers 00:34:22.12\00:34:23.75 and Merrill Lynch and AIG and, 00:34:23.78\00:34:25.83 by the way yesterday largest bank 00:34:25.86\00:34:27.19 in history went bankrupt, largest bankruptcy in history. 00:34:27.22\00:34:30.75 He announces to the leaders, 00:34:30.78\00:34:32.14 you could have massive failures within days, 00:34:32.17\00:34:33.95 he told the group, 00:34:33.98\00:34:35.11 and it would go beyond the banking system 00:34:35.14\00:34:36.67 and he started naming brand name companies. 00:34:36.70\00:34:39.59 Now here's the line that caught my eye, 00:34:39.62\00:34:40.87 politicians leaving the meeting a week ago Thursday 00:34:40.90\00:34:43.68 said they were shocked at these portions of Armageddon 00:34:43.71\00:34:46.09 from the usually understated Bernanke. 00:34:46.12\00:34:48.18 They left the 90 minute meeting looking shaken 00:34:48.21\00:34:50.42 and resolve the act before the election. 00:34:50.45\00:34:51.93 Now hold on, Christopher Dodd, 00:34:51.96\00:34:53.29 Connecticut democrat 00:34:53.32\00:34:54.60 and chairman of the senate banking committee has quoted, 00:34:54.63\00:34:57.06 it was as sobering a meeting 00:34:57.09\00:34:59.31 as any of us have ever attended in our career's here. 00:34:59.34\00:35:03.49 Ladies and gentlemen, the point is simply this. 00:35:03.52\00:35:06.82 We now live in an hour of profound change, 00:35:09.92\00:35:14.19 you understand this don't you. 00:35:14.22\00:35:15.45 Literally overnight the headlines 00:35:15.48\00:35:18.53 can rewrite life is renowned. 00:35:18.56\00:35:23.27 In that context could it be that like Pentecost one, 00:35:23.30\00:35:29.26 Pentecost two will come in an hour of economic crisis. 00:35:29.29\00:35:35.03 I want you to think for one moment, 00:35:35.06\00:35:37.31 the amazing similarities between the 120 men women 00:35:37.34\00:35:40.34 and young adults crowded 00:35:40.37\00:35:41.49 into the upper room in Jerusalem 00:35:41.52\00:35:42.68 on the day of Pentecost and the young adult generation, 00:35:42.71\00:35:45.26 the primetime generation today, 00:35:45.29\00:35:48.35 in which 3,400 00:35:48.38\00:35:49.95 have been in entrusted to Andrews University. 00:35:49.98\00:35:51.64 I want you to notice the similarities for a moment, 00:35:51.67\00:35:54.00 in fact its in your study guide, 00:35:54.03\00:35:55.27 jot these down, will you. 00:35:55.30\00:35:56.49 These are the parallels. 00:35:56.52\00:35:58.52 Number one and I'm speaking to the young adults 00:35:58.55\00:36:00.88 who are here right now. 00:36:00.91\00:36:02.29 Number one just like them, Pentecost one, 00:36:02.32\00:36:05.78 you are also devoted followers of Jesus Christ hands down. 00:36:05.81\00:36:11.74 You've a passion for Christ. 00:36:11.77\00:36:13.42 You've a passion for His mission, 00:36:13.45\00:36:15.11 just like them. 00:36:15.14\00:36:17.02 You've number one. 00:36:17.05\00:36:18.18 Number two, just like them you are also relatively poor 00:36:18.21\00:36:22.08 and dominantly landless. 00:36:22.11\00:36:24.41 Perfect description of an Andrews University student. 00:36:24.44\00:36:28.22 Dominantly poor, relatively poor 00:36:28.25\00:36:31.10 and dominantly landless, you owe nothing, nothing. 00:36:31.13\00:36:35.54 And number three, just like them you are also sabbatarian. 00:36:35.57\00:36:38.83 You worship the Creator on the seventh day Sabbath 00:36:38.86\00:36:40.78 and you are little a Adventist. 00:36:40.81\00:36:42.91 You are fervent in your belief that Jesus is coming soon. 00:36:42.94\00:36:46.01 By the way that makes number four, 00:36:46.04\00:36:47.81 just like them you are also without roots, 00:36:47.84\00:36:51.19 and thus perfectly positioned 00:36:51.22\00:36:52.92 to be instantly mobilized by the Holy Spirit. 00:36:52.95\00:36:57.78 Because unlike them all you need is a laptop, 00:36:57.81\00:37:04.77 a cell phone and a plane ticket. 00:37:04.80\00:37:09.36 There's never been a generation so rapidly deployed 00:37:09.39\00:37:11.47 or so constantly in touch as is primetime generation. 00:37:11.50\00:37:14.28 Guess what guys, you like that animation? 00:37:14.31\00:37:18.15 They worked on that between services, 00:37:18.18\00:37:19.79 that the relax they gave me with no charge. 00:37:19.82\00:37:23.45 The fact is ladies and gentlemen, 00:37:23.48\00:37:24.65 God can mobilize this prime time generation, 00:37:24.68\00:37:26.85 God can mobilize these young adults, 00:37:26.88\00:37:28.59 you young adults any where on the planet He wishes 00:37:28.62\00:37:31.80 and because you have so little halleluiah, 00:37:31.83\00:37:35.78 you don't have a lot to pack up, 00:37:35.81\00:37:38.15 throw in a pair of jeans and a T-shirt 00:37:38.18\00:37:40.43 and you are ready to go and God's ready to go. 00:37:40.46\00:37:46.03 You've been setup by the way, 00:37:46.06\00:37:48.16 sorry to be the one to announce this to you. 00:37:48.19\00:37:50.33 You've been setup by the Holy Spirit 00:37:50.36\00:37:52.51 all you need now, 00:37:52.54\00:37:53.97 is for that mighty third person of the God 00:37:54.00\00:37:55.69 had to pour himself out upon you 00:37:55.72\00:37:57.62 and you are it, Pentecost two. 00:37:57.65\00:38:01.01 Margaret Mead, 00:38:05.03\00:38:06.80 a popular American cultural anthropologist 00:38:06.83\00:38:09.33 of the last century. 00:38:09.36\00:38:10.53 She wrote a line, I take great comfort in this line, 00:38:10.56\00:38:12.47 it's in your study guide, isn't this something. 00:38:12.50\00:38:14.55 Mead writes, "Never underestimate the ability 00:38:14.58\00:38:17.99 of a small group of committed individuals 00:38:18.02\00:38:21.61 to change the world. 00:38:21.64\00:38:23.08 Indeed, they are the only ones that have." 00:38:23.11\00:38:28.88 You think about the great changes of history. 00:38:28.91\00:38:32.17 This little nation, this little nation was formed 00:38:32.20\00:38:34.79 by just the handful of young by the way. 00:38:34.82\00:38:37.85 Communism formed by just a handful. 00:38:37.88\00:38:40.63 The church in Acts formed by just a handful. 00:38:40.66\00:38:43.49 Mead is absolutely right. 00:38:43.52\00:38:44.81 You got to be committed, 00:38:44.84\00:38:46.13 but it can be a small group of committed 00:38:46.16\00:38:48.41 they are the only ones 00:38:48.44\00:38:49.55 that have brought change on this planet. 00:38:49.58\00:38:51.61 Listen, you may say, 00:38:51.64\00:38:53.43 hey that we are in no comparison 00:38:53.46\00:38:55.68 with Obama's army of the young. 00:38:55.71\00:38:57.70 Ah, you may not be 00:38:57.73\00:38:58.82 but you've aligned yourself to the Christ of Calvary 00:38:58.85\00:39:01.23 and under His blood stain banner 00:39:01.26\00:39:03.45 you have all the forces of heaven ready to be unleash, 00:39:03.48\00:39:07.48 not for a political cause, 00:39:07.51\00:39:09.41 for the greatest agenda in the history of this universe 00:39:09.44\00:39:13.39 and that is the salvation of the human race. 00:39:13.42\00:39:16.90 Man, you got setup. 00:39:16.93\00:39:19.64 You got born at the right time. 00:39:19.67\00:39:24.06 God says I got to have you. 00:39:24.09\00:39:26.25 Tell you what, baby boomers were born at the wrong time. 00:39:26.28\00:39:30.20 We got so many toys now, our roots are so deep. 00:39:30.23\00:39:33.28 God says, give me another generation. 00:39:33.31\00:39:37.00 How many houses do those people have? 00:39:37.03\00:39:39.39 How many cars in those garages? 00:39:39.42\00:39:41.57 I need another generation. 00:39:45.57\00:39:48.35 I need another generation. 00:39:48.38\00:39:51.05 You know what, speaking to Margaret Mead, 00:39:51.08\00:39:53.15 a woman a century earlier than Margaret Mead 00:39:53.18\00:39:55.52 wrote these words in your study guide. 00:39:55.55\00:39:57.55 The last words in your study guide. 00:39:57.58\00:39:59.40 I like this, I carry these words 00:39:59.43\00:40:00.96 in the back of my Bible. 00:40:00.99\00:40:02.21 "With such an army of workers," Ellen White. 00:40:02.24\00:40:05.54 "With such an army of workers as our youth, 00:40:05.57\00:40:08.22 rightly trained, might furnish, 00:40:08.25\00:40:10.30 how soon the message of a crucified, risen 00:40:10.33\00:40:12.62 and soon coming Savior 00:40:12.65\00:40:13.99 might be carried to the whole world!" 00:40:14.02\00:40:16.00 Just like that. 00:40:16.03\00:40:17.10 Primetime generation, that's all He needs. 00:40:17.13\00:40:19.41 "How soon might the end come, 00:40:19.44\00:40:21.23 the end of suffering and sorrow and sin!" 00:40:21.26\00:40:24.08 Isn't that something, just like that God can do it, 00:40:24.11\00:40:28.12 with His strategic primetime army. 00:40:28.15\00:40:33.02 I'm telling you that's what keeps me going. 00:40:33.05\00:40:36.37 That is what keeps me going 00:40:36.40\00:40:38.87 because you finally arrived. 00:40:38.90\00:40:43.43 Don't sell yourself short. 00:40:43.46\00:40:44.87 Some of you can do in those speeches 00:40:44.90\00:40:45.99 in your mind right now, it's not me, it's not me, 00:40:46.02\00:40:47.68 get off that trip, it's you. 00:40:47.71\00:40:52.50 Your mission should you choose to accept it, 00:40:52.53\00:40:55.95 it's your mission. 00:40:55.98\00:40:58.49 With such an army is this, 00:40:58.52\00:41:00.07 primetime generation of the young-- 00:41:00.10\00:41:01.85 Oh, I tell you what, I find that word army very unique. 00:41:01.88\00:41:05.24 The Blogosfere has gone wild over this economic meltdown 00:41:05.27\00:41:10.22 and I was lead through the Blogosfere to armynews.com, 00:41:10.25\00:41:14.38 they are not saying much about this in public, 00:41:14.41\00:41:16.07 I don't know why. 00:41:16.10\00:41:18.09 But I found out, I went to armynews.com, 00:41:18.12\00:41:20.33 it's an army report, listen to this. 00:41:20.36\00:41:22.23 They reported that a brigade is being brought back from Iraq 00:41:22.26\00:41:25.75 and assigned to this nation. 00:41:25.78\00:41:29.11 Here to afford the national guarder 00:41:29.14\00:41:30.62 has been assigned to this nation 00:41:30.65\00:41:31.72 and the army's purpose is go out there. 00:41:31.75\00:41:33.84 But now they've assigned the brigade 00:41:33.87\00:41:36.00 to the United States. 00:41:36.03\00:41:37.76 What for? 00:41:37.79\00:41:38.87 Marking the, and I'm quoting now. 00:41:38.90\00:41:40.17 "The first time an active unit 00:41:40.20\00:41:42.06 has been given a dedicated assignment to North Com." 00:41:42.09\00:41:45.07 You are saying what's North Com? 00:41:45.10\00:41:46.27 "It's a joint command established in 2002 00:41:46.30\00:41:48.89 to provide command and control 00:41:48.92\00:41:50.64 for federal homeland defense efforts." 00:41:50.67\00:41:54.05 We're going to use the army now amongst our people. 00:41:54.08\00:41:58.16 Now watch this, what kind of efforts, another quote. 00:41:58.19\00:42:00.95 "They may be called upon to help 00:42:00.98\00:42:03.06 with civil unrest and crowd control." 00:42:03.09\00:42:07.72 Crowd control, somebody expecting some trouble. 00:42:07.75\00:42:12.80 This much is certain. 00:42:16.06\00:42:18.81 If ever there were a critical hour 00:42:18.84\00:42:20.42 for Gods young army to be mobilized, 00:42:20.45\00:42:25.19 society is ready. 00:42:25.22\00:42:26.99 This is primetime, primetime has come. 00:42:27.02\00:42:32.53 I believe that Jesus has raised up your generation 00:42:32.56\00:42:36.43 for mission that no other, 00:42:36.46\00:42:38.93 nobody else can fulfill but you. 00:42:38.96\00:42:43.53 We been praying for you. 00:42:43.56\00:42:46.12 We been waiting for you. 00:42:46.15\00:42:47.78 You came at the right time, at time of utter instability. 00:42:47.81\00:42:50.55 You come with the right qualifications, 00:42:50.58\00:42:51.96 a wiliness for immediate mobility. 00:42:51.99\00:42:55.55 But here's the question. 00:42:55.58\00:42:57.09 Now that you've come are you ready to go? 00:42:57.12\00:43:02.25 Now that you've come are you ready to go? 00:43:04.25\00:43:10.40 I want to end with that question. 00:43:10.43\00:43:12.28 I'm not going to end with the heart tucking story. 00:43:12.31\00:43:15.80 I want to end with an honest appeal. 00:43:15.83\00:43:17.44 If you're young listen please. 00:43:17.47\00:43:21.64 I was driving out at the beautiful new entrance 00:43:21.67\00:43:23.65 to Andrews University yesterday 00:43:23.68\00:43:26.62 and saw this young adult on a tiny little motor scooter, 00:43:26.65\00:43:29.74 I've never seen a motor-- 00:43:29.77\00:43:30.80 I've never seen such a small thing 00:43:30.83\00:43:32.35 and he is going down, 00:43:32.38\00:43:33.41 you know the, there's a white stripe to left, 00:43:33.44\00:43:35.09 bikers going there and so he is going down there. 00:43:35.12\00:43:37.28 We both get to the highway at the same time 00:43:37.31\00:43:39.32 and he cuts behind me, so I roll my window down 00:43:39.35\00:43:41.64 because he is coming up beside. 00:43:41.67\00:43:43.91 I made some wise crack about his transportation. 00:43:43.94\00:43:47.94 And he sees who it is. 00:43:47.97\00:43:50.49 Say hey pastor, I been wanting to talk to you. 00:43:50.52\00:43:52.71 I said what's up. 00:43:52.74\00:43:54.15 He said you know what, 00:43:54.18\00:43:55.41 I believe God is coming soon 00:43:55.44\00:43:58.16 and there is some stuff I need to talk about. 00:43:58.19\00:44:01.47 I said come in the office next week. 00:44:01.50\00:44:04.55 He is a social worker, major. 00:44:04.58\00:44:08.99 I sense something is going on this planet 00:44:09.02\00:44:11.43 and I need to talk to you, is there, 00:44:11.46\00:44:12.82 something we can be doing? 00:44:12.85\00:44:14.37 Oh yes there's something you can be doing. 00:44:14.40\00:44:16.85 Gods put on an army together. 00:44:16.88\00:44:19.07 Rapid mobilization. 00:44:21.85\00:44:25.50 No roots, just a laptop a cell phone 00:44:25.53\00:44:29.00 and a plane ticket that's all you need. 00:44:29.03\00:44:31.44 Primetime, hear it Jesus has called you. 00:44:31.47\00:44:38.34 The Lord of Calvary greater than any presidential candidate 00:44:38.37\00:44:42.41 is saying I need you boy, I need you girl, 00:44:42.44\00:44:44.55 you work for Me, you work for Me. 00:44:44.58\00:44:48.85 We have a biggest mission in the history of the universe 00:44:48.88\00:44:52.13 and we need to rapid up now. 00:44:52.16\00:44:55.31 And so I need to make an appeal right now 00:44:55.34\00:44:57.06 to those sitting behind me and those sitting in front. 00:44:57.09\00:45:00.79 If you are a young adult 00:45:00.82\00:45:02.92 and I let you decide what that is. 00:45:02.95\00:45:07.04 If you are a young adult 00:45:07.07\00:45:11.47 and you would be willing to say to the Lord Jesus Christ, 00:45:11.50\00:45:15.66 I would join that army. 00:45:15.69\00:45:17.65 I will join Your primetime army, 00:45:17.68\00:45:19.81 I'll go anywhere You want me ticket and I'll go. 00:45:25.76\00:45:27.76 I'll go. 00:45:27.79\00:45:31.31 If you're willing to make that kind of commitment 00:45:31.34\00:45:36.03 as a young adult I'm gonna ask you
