Marriages go through storms. 00:28:03.38\00:28:06.00 Trust me. They go through storms. 00:28:06.03\00:28:07.82 Every marriage does. 00:28:07.85\00:28:09.20 Now a storm is either gonna make your marriage stronger 00:28:09.23\00:28:11.82 or it's gonna make your marriage weaker. 00:28:11.85\00:28:13.29 You can't ride a storm out 00:28:13.32\00:28:14.62 and come out the same at the other end. 00:28:14.65\00:28:15.68 No. 00:28:15.71\00:28:16.74 Every crisis produces change that's why God allows crisis. 00:28:16.77\00:28:22.56 So why'd be any different in an economic crisis, 00:28:22.59\00:28:25.49 which by the way is why God allows crisis 00:28:25.52\00:28:29.39 to come to His children because the crisis can, 00:28:29.42\00:28:32.52 if we allow them draw us deeper. 00:28:32.55\00:28:35.22 Now look at, it's a, it's a huge risk for God 00:28:35.25\00:28:37.97 because the crisis that draws you closer to Him, 00:28:38.00\00:28:40.39 can be the crisis that drives me away from Him. 00:28:40.42\00:28:42.44 And so God has to calculate, 00:28:42.47\00:28:43.84 wait-a-minute, wait-a-minute, 00:28:43.87\00:28:44.90 she is doing fine, he is not. 00:28:44.93\00:28:46.61 It is a calculated risk. It may drive you further away. 00:28:46.64\00:28:50.90 But that's why in every crisis-- 00:28:52.35\00:28:54.04 would you jot this down please? 00:28:54.07\00:28:55.65 "Just like it was with Jacob, in the midst of a crisis, 00:28:55.68\00:28:58.60 God draws especially near to us." 00:28:58.63\00:29:02.46 He's not leaving you hanging. 00:29:02.49\00:29:03.81 He's not farther away in a crisis, 00:29:03.84\00:29:05.24 it's the other way around. 00:29:05.27\00:29:06.44 Just like it was with Jacob. 00:29:06.47\00:29:07.52 I got the ladder where you're, boy? 00:29:07.55\00:29:09.06 I'm coming down that ladder, 00:29:09.09\00:29:10.23 right to where you're sleeping now. 00:29:10.26\00:29:12.17 He's always closer in a crisis 00:29:12.20\00:29:15.72 so that He can tilt the risk in His favor. 00:29:15.75\00:29:18.69 He wants to win. 00:29:18.72\00:29:19.78 He wants you to win. He don't want you to lose. 00:29:19.81\00:29:22.35 So that's what happens, 00:29:24.50\00:29:25.72 let's read verse 20 again. 00:29:28.60\00:29:29.70 "Then Jacob made a vow," when he woke up the next day 00:29:29.73\00:29:33.48 "saying, 'If God will be with me 00:29:33.51\00:29:35.55 and will watch over me on this journey I am taking 00:29:35.58\00:29:38.15 and will give me food to eat and clothes to wear 00:29:38.18\00:29:40.10 so that I return safely to my father's household, 00:29:40.13\00:29:42.88 then the Lord will be my God 00:29:42.91\00:29:45.20 and this stone that I have set up as a pillar 00:29:45.23\00:29:47.20 will be God's house, 00:29:47.23\00:29:48.28 and of all that you give me dear God 00:29:48.31\00:29:51.74 I will give you a tenth.'" 00:29:51.77\00:29:54.53 You get a tenth. 00:29:54.56\00:29:56.82 Everything You give to me, I will give you a tenth. 00:29:56.85\00:29:59.29 Jot this down, 00:30:02.38\00:30:03.42 "As a recognition of God as his Savior and Sustainer, 00:30:03.45\00:30:07.81 Jacob offer back to God 1/10 of his income." 00:30:07.84\00:30:11.89 One-tenth! You are a manager. 00:39:49.72\00:39:52.29 And by the way that is not a demeaning term. 00:39:52.32\00:39:54.43 or a belittling notion That is a high honor. 00:39:54.46\00:39:58.67 You think about it. 00:39:58.70\00:40:00.00 When you were a kid growing up, how much did you own? 00:40:00.03\00:40:02.73 Tell me the truth. 00:40:02.76\00:40:03.80 When you were a kid how much did you own? 00:40:03.83\00:40:06.10 Zero.
