the signs of the times.

Jesus used the metaphor
of labor pains, birth pains,

and the Apostle
Paul uses that as well.

And as we pointed
out in our last program,

you know, those labor
pains just grow in intensity
00:04:33.50\00:04:37.14
and frequency as the
birth of that baby draws near,

so that's what
we're finding here.

to take a look at this theme

and how that connects

with what's going on right now

and where things are
leading to as the world

will be brought to a point
of decision at the end of time.

of verse 6, he says,

"Let us watch and be
sober, watch and be wide awake."

Yeah. And so that's
what we're trying to be here.

Indeed, we don't
want to be asleep.

We want to be
watchful and sober,

for we have a more
sure word of prophecy,

His sure word of prophecy.

to give you a heads up

what is taking place
and how that connects with

the prophecies of the Bible.

Let's take a look at
this idea of peace and safety

and just want to remind
you of the United Nations.

If we go to our first slide,

the United Nations emblem, okay?
00:05:57.25\00:06:00.56
The United Nations was formed
after World War II in 1945
00:06:00.59\00:06:04.69
and it took over from
the League of Nations,
00:06:04.73\00:06:06.70
which was established
after the end of World War I.
00:06:06.73\00:06:10.40
But obviously,
the League of Nations
00:06:10.43\00:06:12.53
wasn't all that
successful, because World War II
00:06:12.57\00:06:15.87
came to town.
00:06:15.90\00:06:17.24
And so you have the world
there surrounded by olive leaf,
00:06:17.27\00:06:21.54
two olive branches
and the olive branch
00:06:21.58\00:06:24.51
is a symbol of peace.
00:06:24.55\00:06:25.88
And notice what it says,
"The emblem consists of a map
00:06:25.91\00:06:29.45
of the world, surrounded
by two olive branches.
00:06:29.48\00:06:32.52
These two symbols
speak for themselves:
00:06:32.55\00:06:35.46
the olive branch
is a symbol of peace,"
00:06:35.49\00:06:38.26
that's that language
from 1 Thessalonians 5:3,
00:06:38.29\00:06:41.63
"while the world map represents
00:06:41.66\00:06:43.67
the Organization in its
quest to attain world peace."

What did the Apostle Paul say?

"When they say,

peace and safety,
then sudden destruction."

In other words, there
will be a cry of peace

and safety just
before Jesus returns

and we have that right
there in the United Nations

that is seeking to
bring the world together.

And at no other
time in human history
00:07:08.09\00:07:10.99
have we had the world
population what it is today,
00:07:11.03\00:07:15.66
at no other
time in human history
00:07:15.70\00:07:18.13
have we had more nations
gathered together for the sake
00:07:18.17\00:07:23.00
of world peace and unity.
00:07:23.04\00:07:24.81
You know, some 193 countries
are part of the United Nations,
00:07:24.84\00:07:29.78
we've never had that before.
00:07:29.81\00:07:31.15
It's interesting how, you know,
you're talking about peace,
00:07:31.18\00:07:33.58
the United Nation talks
about peace in the earth.
00:07:33.62\00:07:36.55
And in John 14:27, Jesus
says, "Peace I leave with you,
00:07:36.58\00:07:41.12
My peace I give unto
you not as the world giveth,
00:07:41.16\00:07:45.13
give I unto you."
00:07:45.16\00:07:46.49
Yeah, that's right.
00:07:46.53\00:07:47.86
So the peace that
world tries to attain

is not the peace
that God wants us to have.

That's right.

So as we go through,
you know, this message

and in particular the
next, so we'll discover

that there are
two types of peace.

There's one that the
world is seeking to give,

there's another
one that Christ gives.

It's interesting
that in the year 2000,

the United Nations rolled out
00:08:05.98\00:08:07.42
the Millennium Development Goals
00:08:07.45\00:08:09.32
and we have them up
there on the screen.
00:08:09.35\00:08:11.25
There were eight
Millennium Development Goals
00:08:11.29\00:08:13.79
and we mentioned this
in our previous program.
00:08:13.82\00:08:15.76
And these goals were to
bring about greater peace
00:08:15.79\00:08:20.90
and prosperity for
earth's inhabitants,
00:08:20.93\00:08:23.80
especially those who are
living in the third world,
00:08:23.83\00:08:27.67
just to really
give them a big boost.

And so we have those eight
Millennium Development Goals.

Which are very nice.
Yeah, which are great.

They're
fantastic, great objectives.

But then in the year 2015,
00:08:38.68\00:08:41.78
another plan was rolled
out to continue that journey,

17 Sustainable
Development Goals.

And as you can see
there that subtitle,

to transform our world.
00:08:51.69\00:08:53.33
And once again,
these are fantastic ideals.

Yes. Fantastic ideals.

But what we're
looking to illustrate,

we're not like, we're not
down on the United Nations,
00:09:00.30\00:09:03.27
for bringing out these
goals in order to enable
00:09:03.30\00:09:07.28
people to have a better quality
of life around the world.

And to save lives. Exactly.
00:09:10.68\00:09:12.41
So we're not being
negative about this.
00:09:12.45\00:09:14.98
All we're simply doing is we're
pointing out what Paul said,
00:09:15.02\00:09:18.42
you know, this cry
of peace and safety
00:09:18.45\00:09:20.26
and prosperity is right
there before our very eyes.

So this is telling us
that the coming of Jesus
00:09:24.36\00:09:26.83
is not far distant,
00:09:26.86\00:09:28.80
and it's been
gathering pace in particular
00:09:28.83\00:09:31.23
since the United
Nations was formed
00:09:31.27\00:09:33.03
and in the last
20 years, especially.

It's just like the name
implies, United Nations.

That's right.
00:09:39.21\00:09:40.54
And it sounds like a
good idea because we see
00:09:40.58\00:09:43.11
so much inequality in the world.

Sounds like a good idea. Amen.

And it is.

And, you know,
as you pointed out,

Jesus wants to give us peace.

And that's been
God's plan ever since

the beginning of time
when He created Adam and Eve.

You know, He created
Adam and Eve to enjoy
00:09:57.03\00:09:59.06
life in a garden that
was filled with peace,
00:09:59.09\00:10:03.10
and happiness, and
joy, and prosperity,
00:10:03.13\00:10:06.03
and so on and so forth.

And so human beings
wanting peace and prosperity

and happiness
and joy and safety,

that is part of our DNA,
we were created for that.

So, but we're going to see here,

head in the wrong direction

and this is being
shared more and more,

the catastrophes that are taking
