00:22 Well, Night Light tonight is not in a metropolitan area.
00:26 Night Light tonight is in the country.
00:30 We're at just a little town of Oshkosh, Wisconsin;
00:33 beautiful, beautiful city.
00:35 And with some of the most beautiful young people
00:38 that you have ever seen.
00:40 My partner, C. A. Murray, is still recuperating.
00:44 C. A. you're in our prayers.
00:45 And we'll bring a little update to you right now.
00:50 In fact he's doing better.
00:52 He's home, he's on the mend.
00:54 He's not out of pain yet, because this is always
00:58 an operation that sets you back quite a bit.
01:01 So keep C. A. in your prayers.
01:04 And, C. A., we miss you.
01:06 We wish you were here tonight.
01:08 Nobody wishes you were here more than Greg Morikone.
01:11 And, Greg... That's true... Thank you for joining me tonight.
01:14 Oh, it's a privilege to be here.
01:15 But also, Pastor C. A., we do keep you in prayer,
01:18 and, of course, your dear wife Irma.
01:20 And we wish you were here.
01:21 We missed you also at ASI, didn't we?
01:23 Which was just before Oshkosh here.
01:24 We really did, and, you know, we usually are in suits and ties,
01:29 and we said, That just doesn't seem to fit for a young person's
01:33 meeting, like this; for a great number of kids coming in.
01:40 When we drove by tonight coming in,
01:42 when you drive by on the freeway, folks you've never
01:45 seen anything like it in your life.
01:48 There are more tents, and more kids than you have ever seen.
01:52 I almost was brought to tears.
01:54 I said to Camille, Look at this!
01:57 These are our Seventh-day Adventist young people.
02:00 I know some of you older folks sometimes think, Well, the
02:03 church is this or that, or gone.
02:05 Listen, we've got the greatest young people in this world.
02:09 What we need to do is hold onto them.
02:12 Because if we can have events like this, and we can involve
02:17 them in mission work, and we can get them involved in talking
02:20 about Jesus, they're going to stay with us.
02:23 And if they stay with us they're going to continue to grow.
02:26 They'll have families, and children,
02:28 and it will continue to be a tremendous, powerful church
02:35 that's energetic because of the young people.
02:38 Well, tonight we have the father of this whole situation
02:42 at Oshkosh, Ron Whitehead.
02:45 Ron, we welcome you.
02:46 So happy that you could be with us.
02:48 Elder Ron Whitehead is the director for the Center for
02:53 Youth Evangelism at Andrews University.
02:55 Tell me a little bit about the Center first
02:57 before we get going.
02:59 Sure, the Center For Youth Evangelism is based at Andrews
03:02 University, and we teach about 540 seminary
03:06 students from around the world.
03:07 And the Center For Youth Evangelism is like a laboratory,
03:11 like a real world experience place,
03:13 where you just teach theory.
03:15 It's not book learning, it's not research, it's actually
03:18 practical application to ministry.
03:20 So we call it active learning.
03:22 That's what CYE is all about.
03:23 So, in other words, if I can go back in the history a little
03:28 bit, if I remember, I remember a tall, skinny young man who was
03:35 working with another tall, skinny, little bit older guy
03:39 by the name of Don Schneider. Yes.
03:41 And so some of this experience that you're talking about,
03:45 where youth are working with youth, and so forth.
03:48 you were involved with yourself.
03:50 It's true, it's true.
03:51 Don Schneider is a tremendous mentor and role model for me.
03:56 He always had a passion for Jesus. Yes.
03:58 And then he had a passion for young people.
04:00 And when you put those two things together,
04:02 that's a powerful passion.
04:03 It really is. And he did a tremendous job as a
04:08 youth director than as an administrator,
04:11 and always he never lost sight of the kids.
04:14 And tonight Don, we say Hi to you, and we thank you for
04:17 mentoring this guy, and helping him along.
04:20 How many of these camporees have you been in charge of?
04:24 Well, you know, we've had seven total.
04:26 There was one in '85, '89, and the one that I started
04:30 participating with in 1994: Dare to Care Camporee,
04:33 Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Denver, Colorado.
04:35 So this will be my fifth international camporee.
04:38 So there have been nine and you've been involved with five?
04:41 Yep, that's right. It's been seven, and involved in nine.
04:44 Alright, yeah. No! There've been a few.
04:47 Numbers aren't, I don't know, that's true.
04:49 You know one of the things we were talking about Oshkosh,
04:51 Wisconsin, so for those at home, they're saying, Okay, we know
04:54 where Oshkosh, Wisconsin is.
04:56 And where we're located here; we're at the EAA,
04:58 which we're at the great big airfield.
05:01 So tell us how big this area is, and what exactly is
05:04 happening here at Oshkosh.
05:05 We're talking about all the young people,
05:06 but what's happening, and what's taking place here?
05:08 And what is EAA? That right.
05:10 EAA stands for Experimental Aircraft Association.
05:14 It's a great organization helping all ages,
05:17 especially young people connect to flight,
05:19 and the beauty of it, and the majesty of it.
05:22 And it's just a great organization.
05:24 In fact, a week and a half ago one of the world's largest
05:28 air shows took place on this property.
05:29 And they're wonderful to work with.
05:32 The EAA organization has a passion for young people
05:35 making a difference.
05:37 And so we've been partnering for this will be our third
05:40 camporee, maybe fourth now.
05:43 Yeah, fourth camporee on this property.
05:45 Its 550 acres. Anyone that's watching, viewing tonight,
05:49 that knows anything about airplanes,
05:51 they know about Oshkosh.
05:52 Yes, they do. That's true.
05:53 Well, listen, that's exciting.
05:55 And tell us some of the things that will take place;
05:58 some of the special things that will happen.
06:00 Oh, I'd love to highlight for you.
06:01 You know, we have right at 50,000 participants
06:04 from 80 different countries, so we're looking for a variety
06:07 of activities to offer them such as community service.
06:11 About 5,000 young people go in to the community each day
06:14 to make a difference in the community.
06:15 And that's rebuild trails, help with the environment.
06:18 You know, clean up some areas.
06:20 It's a whole score of things. You can imagine.
06:22 But one of my favorite things to highlight for you is not only
06:25 do we go out there and do some great service for the community,
06:28 but we give out a lot of literature; a lot.
06:31 And I love telling you about this.
06:32 Today only over a thousand pieces of literature
06:35 the young people went out door to door to make sure that people
06:38 knew about Jesus Christ, their personal Savior.
06:40 In the Oshkosh area, you're saying?
06:42 That's right. Right in this area.
06:43 Now you just briefly touched on a number.
06:44 You just kind of passed over that.
06:46 You said 50,000 young people, and staff here? That's right.
06:50 Now that's huge, because that's a city.
06:53 That is, that's big.
06:55 That's like Thompsonville.
06:56 Ten, hundred times, yeah.
06:58 Exactly. So where we come from, Thompsonville, what 600 maybe?
07:01 counting the cows. Right.
07:02 But 50,000 young people.
07:04 So then you said 1994 was the first one here
07:07 with international. Is that correct, 1994?
07:09 It was 1999, first one on this property.
07:10 Okay. And I was reading in your little newspaper that you give
07:13 out, I think there were 12,000 young people then.
07:16 Somewhere around that number, I think, somewhere there.
07:18 So now we're up to 50,000 young people from around the world.
07:21 And some of those were passing out literature today. They were.
07:24 That's a powerful thing.
07:25 Tomorrow more literature is going out to the community.
07:27 Talk about Daniel; he's an amazing person to talk
07:30 about in the Bible.
07:31 He stood, you know.
07:32 Dare to be a Daniel.
07:34 Right, and the theme here is Forever Faithful. That's right.
07:36 And tell us about Daniel then is going to be sort of the theme
07:40 of this whole thing.
07:41 I love talking about this.
07:43 I mean I like everything else, but this is fun to talk about.
07:46 This generation needs to connect to...
07:49 You know, they're embattled aren't they?
07:51 There's spiritual warfare taking place.
07:52 And the warfare is much more accentuated today than it was
07:56 twenty years ago, so we as leaders need to be just as
07:59 you know, aggressive, if you will.
08:01 And the whole theme, each evenings program, which starts
08:05 here in just about forty-five minutes, each evenings program
08:08 focuses on the life of Daniel, and the three Hebrews.
08:11 As we know, in the Bible, and those who are watching
08:15 no doubt, or have heard of the Godly man, Daniel,
08:18 he never compromised, never, ever compromised.
08:22 It wasn't until he was in his eighties, as you recall,
08:25 that people tried to trick him into being something, you know,
08:29 bad for the government, if you will.
08:31 And so they tricked him into making a law.
08:34 And in his eighties he went to the lion's den.
08:37 But the Lord was there for him, right? Yeah, He was.
08:39 He was faithful. He was forever faithful.
08:41 Our God is forever faithful to us.
08:43 Why shouldn't we be forever faithful for Him?
08:45 Wow, that's great. Praise the Lord.
08:47 Yeah, and praise the Lord that we have those Bible characters
08:49 that we can put before the young people, and give them more
08:52 information and, of course, someone to emulate
08:54 and follow after as well. Right.
08:55 You know, we have a little bit of B roll, because we know you
08:57 have to run to the main program that starts in 37,
09:00 45 minutes or so. Yep, yep.
09:01 So we had a little bit of B roll, if you want to start
09:03 rolling that actually.
09:04 You can tell us a little bit about what we're seeing
09:05 here on the screen.
09:07 Love to. Yeah, this is the entrance to the property.
09:11 All those flags. Oh flags from every country is
09:14 present at the camporee. That's huge.
09:18 This is a large, I'm told it's one of the larger
09:21 Bible story presentation portable stages in the world.
09:24 It took us seven days to build it.
09:26 We brought in a variety of skilled labor, and a lot of
09:30 summer camp labor from the Lake Union Conference;
09:32 a lot of young adults.
09:33 If you recognize this, this is Ishtar Gate.
09:36 Back in Bible; remember the three Hebrews and Daniel
09:39 were taken from Jerusalem?
09:40 It was conquered by the country of, you remember?
09:42 Help me, help me. Yeah.
09:44 Who came there? Babylon, you remember?
09:46 So Babylon, and the young people are taken out to Babylon. Okay.
09:50 And that's the Ishtar Gate that you can still see today
09:52 in that part of the world.
09:54 Oh, this is the Pathfinder plane. Yes.
09:55 I love the Pathfinder plane because it tells the gospel.
09:57 It goes to places nobody can get to.
09:59 So these are Pathfinders that we're looking at here.
10:01 They sure were, they sure were.
10:02 And years ago, in 1999, the first time we were here at this
10:05 property, Pathfinders donated a starter, or say another piece of
10:10 equipment for the plane.
10:12 And they rebuilt that plane.
10:13 And we hope to raise a $100,000.00 to resend that plane
10:16 back out, because it's wore out.
10:18 It's been in South America, and it needs...
10:19 So it's a mission plane.
10:21 It's a mission plane for sure.
10:22 Thank you. Wow! Yeah.
10:24 So these are just some of the exciting activities that the
10:25 young people are involved with.
10:27 And I know each night Pastor Gilley will be showing different
10:29 things that we have here on this beautiful campus here.
10:33 But that's just some of what we have.
10:34 Yeah, some of those... What are some of the things that maybe we
10:36 haven't mentioned that you'd like to share with us?
10:38 Some of the highlights? Yeah.
10:40 Well, you know, not only what I love, especially for the
10:42 viewer that doesn't understand the word Pathfinder.
10:45 What's that about? Right.
10:46 It's like a coed Boy Scout, Girl Scout organization
10:49 where we teach kids Bible knowledge and outdoor skills,
10:52 and how to be a part of the community.
10:55 You know, make a difference.
10:56 You know, as Christians we should be salt and light.
10:58 Is that right? Yeah. Don't you think? That's right.
10:59 And so this is these great role models.
11:02 I'm, how do you say?
11:04 I'm honored to work with these adults that mentor.
11:07 You know, people take vacation time, they put their own money
11:11 into making sure transportation, so the kids can come to this
11:14 international camporee.
11:15 It's like a jamboree in the Boy Scout organization.
11:17 Well, it is amazing.
11:20 And I can't imagine anyone having more than 50,000 people
11:25 attend any type of a jamboree, or anything else.
11:30 We were out today and there were young people literally
11:35 from all over the United States that we met.
11:37 And we took some footage, and all afternoon we've been
11:42 breaking with every hour, and sometimes thirty minutes
11:45 with a little one and a half minute snippet about what we
11:50 saw there, what we were seeing, interviewing the kids,
11:52 and talking to them, and pointing them out.
11:54 Some of them were playing games, some of them were
11:56 practicing for the parade, all the different activities that
12:00 they were involved with.
12:01 It was cold. It was wet.
12:03 And, by the way, we want to tell you that the rain has
12:06 stopped, the clouds are gone, the sun is out,
12:12 and it's beautiful here.
12:14 And we're saying, they're telling us the next three days
12:18 should be very good weather, we hope.
12:20 That's what we're hearing.
12:21 It should be good weather.
12:23 And just for the viewers, and especially my friends here,
12:27 thank you 3ABN for being here, being present to
12:30 support young people.
12:31 So often it's about the adults.
12:33 We spend time, and assets, and money to highlight.
12:35 And adults aren't bad people, because I'm one of them,
12:38 you know. I like the adults.
12:39 But sometimes we need to invest the most
12:41 in the best in young people. Right.
12:44 And I think you're part of an event that's making that happen.
12:46 And thank you for your presence.
12:47 Well, young people are very vital to us.
12:50 In fact we have a 3ABN Kids Network.
12:54 I hear about this.
12:55 And we've just launched it.
12:58 We're getting ready to build a studio.
13:00 You'll be hearing more about that a little
13:01 later on in our program.
13:02 But we believe that kids have to hear the three
13:07 angel's message as well.
13:09 In fact they should hear it first.
13:11 You know, we just had a tragedy happen yesterday
13:15 with Robin Williams, a man who was loved by millions,
13:20 and who made just about everybody laugh.
13:24 But Robin Williams was an unhappy individual;
13:28 sadly took his own life.
13:30 When we can tell our young people, Look, the way to have
13:34 happiness is not through the lifestyle that is so often
13:39 held up to them as being the way to happiness.
13:43 The way to happiness is through commitment to Jesus Christ,
13:47 service for Him, and making your life count for others.
13:53 Now there's some of those areas that definitely Robin Williams
13:58 didn't have, but obviously there was something missing there.
14:02 And with each of our young people we have got to be doing
14:06 the very best that we can to witness to them to help them.
14:10 You see, if you can get your young people involved with
14:13 Pathfinders, if you don't have a Pathfinder program
14:16 it's the base for starting the young people.
14:20 And then you keep them going, and they continue to get
14:24 involved with mission trips.
14:25 Ron, one of the times I ran into you was over in Ukraine.
14:30 And you had a whole group of young people on a mission trip.
14:34 And it changed their lives when they were out there
14:38 working for souls.
14:40 If you involve... You cannot just expect the kids to show up
14:45 Sabbath morning, go into a class, and that this is how
14:48 we're going to keep our young people.
14:50 You have to involve their whole life.
14:53 I'm here because good Christian people in the Dallas Central
14:58 Seventh-day Adventist Church, when I was a teenager, started
15:01 involving me in things.
15:03 When Henry Barron, our, he was our Associate Pastor there,
15:08 and he was my mentor.
15:10 I've had several, but Henry was definitely one of them.
15:13 And when these people begin to work with young people,
15:17 you, and you'd be surprised the laity had every bit as much of
15:21 an impact on me as the professionals did.
15:24 So you can have an impact on young people's lives:
15:28 putting your arms around them, talking to the Lord rather than
15:33 condemning them about maybe something that they are doing
15:38 that disappoints you.
15:40 And keep pointing them to Jesus, pointing them to people like
15:43 Daniel and that experience.
15:46 But if you have a young person, a grandchild, a child,
15:51 whatever, make sure that five years from now,
15:54 Lord, if He delays His coming, we'll be right back here.
15:58 And make sure they're at Oshkosh.
16:00 It's a tremendous experience.
16:03 And do you have any parting words for us Ron, because I do
16:07 know you have to head off.
16:08 Well, you know the three Hebrews: Shadrach, Meshack,
16:10 and Abednego, Daniel forever faithful.
16:12 Let's call each other to be forever faithful.
16:15 Amen. Alright, thank you so much.
16:18 We appreciate you coming.
16:19 And anything that we can do for you, please let us know,
16:23 because we believe in what you're doing. Thank you.
16:26 We really do, and that's why we're here.
16:28 Because when we got the opportunity to come,
16:32 somebody said, Would you come?
16:34 We said, Yes, we will come.
16:36 We want to be a part. That's great.
16:38 And so we're happy that 3ABN can be here.
16:42 Again, Ron, thanks and we're going to hear some more from you
16:45 before the week's over.
16:47 Yep, we'll be back.
16:48 And, alright. Well, we'll be looking forward to it.
16:49 Thank you. God bless you at the meeting this evening.
16:51 Thank you so much. Pray for us.
16:52 Alright. We sure will.
16:53 Well, that was an exciting thing. It sure was.
16:56 And Greg, you've been around today.
16:58 What are some of the things that you've seen
17:00 and really appreciated?
17:02 Well, I wanted to say what a blessing it is to have people
17:03 like Elder Ron Whitehead being out with the young people.
17:06 Because, like he's saying, and as you're saying, young people,
17:09 to invest in young people, you can't go wrong;
17:11 especially presenting to them the word of God.
17:13 And these Bible characters, I think is so important.
17:15 And I know in my own life, I think of those who have poured
17:18 stuff into my life; mentorship.
17:19 What a blessing it is.
17:21 So they were talking about Pathfinders.
17:22 And one thing, I don't know, I think you mentioned it also,
17:25 is that this happens, Oshkosh Pathfinder Camporee
17:29 happens every five years.
17:32 And I think the reason it happens every five years
17:34 is because this is a huge event.
17:37 If they did that every year, wow, what an undertaking.
17:40 Because, folks, we're going to show you some footage
17:42 here in just a moment, but this is absolutely amazing.
17:44 You'll, ha, I was here five years ago, but when I saw it
17:47 again this year, whew, it's totally amazing
17:50 and overwhelming really.
17:52 Well, this is my first trip here.
17:53 I've always had something that would interfere with my coming.
17:57 And so I just want you to know I was blown away.
18:00 When Camille and I came up the road yesterday,
18:03 I just, I just could not believe it.
18:07 There was over a mile long stream of traffic
18:12 waiting to get in.
18:14 You're absolutely right.
18:15 And that was from one direction, and almost that far
18:17 from the other direction.
18:18 I was just unbelievably impressed
18:24 with what was going on.
18:25 Well, you think about... I'm sorry, I just interrupted you.
18:27 No, you did not. Go ahead.
18:29 Well, I was thinking, 50,000 people,
18:30 that's what Elder Ron Whitehead said.
18:32 That's a lot. So basically it's a city,
18:34 like we talked about earlier.
18:35 And, so basically you have your own fire department,
18:40 your own health department here, I understand.
18:42 They have their own security here.
18:45 It's really quite amazing to see how all this works together.
18:48 It's actually quite an undertaking,
18:50 which is quite amazing.
18:52 But, so today is Tuesday. Yeah.
18:54 Right? I'm not too tired.
18:56 Today's Tuesday, isn't it? Yeah.
18:57 Tuesday Night Live.
18:58 We're coming to you here from Oshkosh.
19:00 And we took some footage, because when we were here
19:02 we took some footage of all the crowd and stuff coming in.
19:05 So we'd like to start rolling that now so you can see the
19:08 young people again.
19:09 Here's the shot of the opening gate at Oshkosh.
19:13 And you can just see in the background the lower left hand
19:17 side of the screen, or now on the right hand
19:18 side of the screen, you can see the cars waiting
19:20 to get in the main gate.
19:22 Look at that! Now this is actually not
19:24 the main road outside.
19:25 This is inside the camp.
19:27 And this has been sped up so you can see people stop
19:31 and go, stop and go.
19:32 It is absolutely amazing to see the people filing in.
19:35 This was, wow, I don't know, this was... Well you can see
19:40 if you look in that direction, people walking,
19:41 and stop and go again.
19:43 There's lots and lots of young people waving, and everyone is
19:47 really very excited, and happy to be here at Oshkosh,
19:51 because, again, this is a very big event.
19:53 You can see them setting up their campsites.
19:57 It's very organized actually.
19:59 Actually people don't just camp randomly.
20:01 They camp in a very organized fashion.
20:04 There is one group's luggage.
20:05 You can see some of these camps actually are quite elaborate.
20:10 They have some beautiful...
20:12 Oh I don't know if you want to say decorations, but actually
20:14 camp entrances to their Pathfinder group.
20:18 They actually go, I understand, by division, and then union,
20:21 and then conference, and then actually the clubs
20:24 within the conference.
20:25 So its laid out in a very organized fashion.
20:27 Now I want to tell you folks, as you see the sky there,
20:30 it's nice and blue.
20:32 Now this was yesterday.
20:34 So yesterday we had beautiful sunshine.
20:36 It was actually quite warm as we we're setting up our trucks here
20:41 at Pathfinder Camporee.
20:42 And as you can see there, the clouds are, well, it's not quite
20:46 as blue, the skies.
20:48 And we'll tell you what happened next.
20:49 So obviously it's a little warm.
20:50 They're bringing in their water.
20:52 A lot of the Pathfinders unpacking
20:54 all their camping gear.
20:55 Now notice quickly here, they're trading pins.
20:58 We'll talk about that in just a moment.
20:59 They'd like to trade their club pins, or different pins from the
21:03 conferences or unions.
21:05 And I like some of these campers have the same color of tents.
21:09 And it's actually quite color coordinated,
21:12 which is really neat.
21:14 So here's some campers doing some fun photo shoots.
21:17 You see those white trucks?
21:19 Those, I understand, are showers.
21:21 You see those? You probably recognize those.
21:24 It's amazing here because those are what they use for the
21:27 bathroom facilities are those Porto Johns.
21:30 I've asked for a number and no one has told me how many
21:31 there are, but there seem to be hundreds and hundreds of them.
21:34 There you can see the South Atlantic Conference.
21:37 This is Florida Conference, and again, these are just some snap
21:40 shots of some of the clubs that are here.
21:43 That was Oklahoma.
21:44 That is the Southern Union.
21:47 I can't quite pronounce that word.
21:49 But welcome to Iowa, Missouri.
21:51 And quite, again some elaborate entrances to these clubs.
21:56 Right, they are.
21:57 Yes, and again the Forever Faithful theme.
21:59 That's the Ontario Conference.
22:00 Bermuda, and again it's from around the world.
22:03 And a lot of the cars have a lot of things
22:05 written on the windows.
22:06 You saw that, didn't you?
22:08 We did, and we saw a lot of them coming up the road.
22:09 That's right. We were coming through
22:10 driving from Chicago here.
22:12 And, again, there's the stage.
22:13 It was amazing. Well, it's an exciting event. It is.
22:17 One of the things that... You showed all that water.
22:21 When we first got here we went to Wal-Mart.
22:25 Yes. And Camille, we were getting some
22:27 water and some things.
22:29 And I have never seen so much water going out of a
22:33 building in my life. Oh, yeah.
22:35 People had whole great big push carts full of water,
22:40 and that was just for their club. Yeah.
22:42 And I'm sure that somebody clued Wal-Mart in because they
22:46 had a lot of water set out. Oh yeah.
22:48 And... Pallets of water... and they sold a lot of water to this
22:52 particular group. Absolutely.
22:54 Well, listen, it was great to have Ron Whitehead with us.
22:56 Absolutely. But things have certainly picked up here
23:00 by Brenda Walsh coming.
23:01 And you just look a lot better than Ron Whitehead.
23:04 I'm just teasing. But thank you Brenda for coming.
23:08 You've had a full day already.
23:09 I've had a full day, and its been a wonderful day.
23:12 Yes. What have you been doing?
23:13 I've been at the booth.
23:14 Well, actually at the camporee this week we're here to tape
23:18 Learning Time, which we'll talk about in a little bit.
23:20 But today is the only day I actually had at the booth to be
23:24 there and meet and greet the kids.
23:26 And it was amazing.
23:27 It was really a fun thing to do, and to see so many.
23:30 It's kind of what heaven's going to be like, don't you think?
23:33 When we run around and we see familiar faces, and a lot more
23:36 people knew me than I knew them.
23:38 And they would start off with, You don't know me,
23:42 but I know you. And I thank the Lord, because that means
23:45 they're watching Kids Time. Right.
23:46 And so, yeah, we had an amazing time at the booth.
23:49 I've got an incredible crew that was going on.
23:51 And we're got our Kids Time dogs,
23:54 and our Kids Network shirts.
23:56 You know, you mentioned kids watching Kids Time,
23:59 and they definitely do.
24:01 We run into them all over.
24:03 We were amazed today as we drove around and we shot
24:08 a bunch of sequences.
24:09 We showed them every hour here in the afternoon.
24:12 We were amazed at how many people, how many kids, said Jim,
24:18 Jim is that you? Jim, 3ABN, Jim.
24:21 And, you know, you think, Well, how would kids know?
24:25 The kids watch... Kids are watching. ... all 3ABN. They do.
24:29 And they know who we are. Yes, they do.
24:31 So that's a good sign.
24:33 And we have a lot of adult kids that are
24:35 watching Kids Time, too.
24:36 Oh yes, we really do.
24:37 I've told this story many, many times, but we find as many of
24:43 those that are 65 and above that watch Kids Time
24:47 as there are kids that watch.
24:49 That's right, that's right.
24:50 And enjoy it so much.
24:52 It's like they're having time with their
24:54 grandkids or something.
24:56 Well, I think they, from what people share with me,
24:58 they're truly blessed by the program.
25:00 And there's so much on the program.
25:02 It's not so... I mean there's such a variety of program,
25:06 there's something for everyone.
25:07 And so I don't think you have to be any particular age to say,
25:10 you know, that you're going to enjoy that show.
25:11 I think it's for all ages.
25:13 And God's kids come in all ages.
25:15 Right. Well, as you know, we are dedicated to the three
25:19 angels' messages going to kids around the world. Amen!
25:23 That's our dedication, because we really believe that if you
25:27 can get them when they're young,... Yes!
25:30 ...then they don't have to overcome all these
25:33 habits and problems, and there's no reason for them
25:36 to go over fools hill. Exactly.
25:38 Some people think, Well, they've got to go over fools hill
25:40 and they'll come back.
25:41 Well, I praise God for every one that comes back,
25:44 but it scares me to think of those that never do.
25:48 I love the Bible text, Train up a child in the way he should go,
25:53 and when he's old he will not depart from it.
25:55 And I claim those promises for a lot of people I pray with.
25:58 I pray with a lot of parents, today even, and I claim that
26:01 promise as one of my favorite promises
26:04 in the Bible for our children.
26:06 Yeah, well, but we've got to remember to train them, too.
26:09 Exactly! And training them does not necessarily mean beating
26:13 them over the head with stuff, but involving them.
26:17 Real training is not just preaching to somebody,
26:20 it is involving them in activities like this Camporee.
26:24 Getting your kids working for Jesus. Involving them.
26:28 You can't expect them to put them aside, put them aside,
26:31 and then wonder why when they're old they want
26:32 nothing to do with you. Right.
26:34 We really need to love our children to Jesus,
26:36 to get them involved, get them working in our churches,
26:39 get them involved in mission work, get them involved in
26:42 Pathfinders, in Camporee.
26:43 You know, let's spiritually feed our children.
26:46 Oh, I think that was excellent, because what Elder Whitehead
26:49 was saying is that today even 1000 kids went out and
26:52 distributed literature, and that's what
26:53 you're talking about.
26:54 Yeah, young people going out and doing work.
26:56 And then on your show, Kids Time, there is Sharing Time.
26:59 That's right. Which is talking about sharing Jesus.
27:02 Which is absolutely important.
27:04 And we've had that.
27:05 I've been doing this now, producing Kids Time
27:07 for fifteen years, if you can imagine.
27:09 And we were taking about my day-to-day.
27:11 It's kind of a humbling day, too, can I just say?
27:14 Because I had, you know, all kinds of kids that are a whole
27:18 lot older that were saying, Oh, I watched you when I was little.
27:22 Oh yeah, right! And someone even introduced me to their child,
27:27 you know, that was saying, Oh, yeah, when I was little
27:29 I used to watch Kids Time.
27:30 Well, now I've got one of my own, and they love Kids Time.
27:32 Right! So it was really a blessing. It truly was.
27:35 And I just, it, meeting all the people was just the highlight
27:40 of the day, and to talk, and talk, and talk.
27:42 And, in fact, we didn't even take a lunch break.
27:44 Even none of our crew took a lunch break.
27:45 We were literally just non-stop people.
27:48 You know, we saw a bunch of kids exchanging pins.
27:53 What's that all about?
27:54 Well, I'm glad you asked, Pastor Gilley, because I actually want
27:57 to do a pen exchange with you.
27:58 Oh, wow! You see we have our brand new Kids Network pin.
28:02 And, in fact, I don't know if they can get a close up.
28:04 I have one on me right here, as you can see.
28:07 And that's our brand new Kids Network pin, and it looks...
28:12 that's our logo for Kids Network.
28:14 And so I've been trading pins all day.
28:17 Here at Pathfinder Camporee I found out, I've been here
28:20 several times now, but I found out that pins are a really big
28:24 deal, and clubs have pins designed.
28:26 There's a lot of work that goes into all of the clubs designs.
28:29 Union Conferences design them.
28:31 The conference of each state designs them.
28:34 And everybody is out trading to get the pins that they want.
28:37 So I brought some, because I've been trading pins all day.
28:40 In fact, can I trade a pin with you?
28:42 I've got our Kids Network pin right here.
28:44 And, see if I give you a pin, you have to
28:46 give me something back.
28:48 That's trading. And that's what I'm going to do.
28:49 So I'll say, Okay, I'll give you this pin,
28:52 and you give me your pin.
28:54 So there we go, I've got my Kids Network pin.
28:56 So let me just show you just a second here,
28:59 some of the pins that we got today. You'll be amazed.
29:01 There are the ones I traded.
29:03 So a lot of them said, Please make sure ours get on the air.
29:05 So I can't show everyone, but I'm going to show some of these.
29:08 Just a minute. So while she's getting those pens
29:13 I just wanted to say...
29:15 Wow! That's incredible!
29:17 That's one day's trading.
29:19 That's one day. And just look at that.
29:21 You gave them a pin for one of these.
29:24 I gave them a pin for every one they exchanged to me. Wow!
29:28 And then the trading, because, you know, you're trading and you
29:31 want to do a good deal.
29:32 For instance someone gave me a spinner pin.
29:38 Now watch this. Maybe you can hold this.
29:40 Okay, I'll hold this here.
29:42 And you can spin it around.
29:43 And now for a spinner pin, I decided that that,
29:46 I would give them about five of my Kids Time pins for one of
29:49 those, because those are big special ones, you see. Alright!
29:51 And... Wow now this is a neat one here, too. Wow!
29:55 Isn't that? It is. Now let's take...
29:57 Let's see which one is that one?
29:59 This is the hot air balloon that says,...
30:02 Yes, South Western, South Eastern California
30:04 Conference Pathfinders.
30:06 And look, we have an It Is Written pin.
30:08 They're our neighbors next door.
30:09 And he says, Hey, I'll give you a pin.
30:10 Will you show it on the air?
30:12 So I want him to know that I kept my word. We showed that.
30:15 That's John Bradshaw's organization.
30:16 That's right, we have Potomac.
30:17 Here's a conference pin.
30:19 The Potomac... Potomac... Potomac Conference.
30:21 Potomac, there you go. Thank you.
30:22 I was not pronouncing it right.
30:24 Well, these are elaborate pins.
30:25 And we have... God's special agent it says on it.
30:28 We have a college pin right here, or Collegedale.
30:30 There's Collegedale close by.
30:32 They've got some fancy pins.
30:33 So we have some really just amazing different kinds of pins.
30:38 This one is North Eastern Conference. Alright.
30:41 I even had someone from Columbia come and gave me his pin. Wow!
30:46 And he gave me this little pin right here.
30:49 And we had all different.
30:51 Bermuda Conference came and gave me their pins.
30:53 I mean we've got New Jersey, we've got Michigan.
30:56 And so I am going to take these pins back, and on Kids Time,
31:01 and we're going to do a Sharing Time program all about our
31:05 Pathfinder Camporee.
31:06 And we'll show these pins.
31:07 I did it the last two camporees as well.
31:09 So I gotta, we've got a tradition going here.
31:12 Alright. Hold up our, the Kids Time pin so they can see that.
31:17 Because Thursday night on our Live those who call in with any
31:23 gift for the Kids Network, 3ABN Kids Network, we're going to
31:27 send them one of those pins on Thursday night.
31:30 Oh, fantastic! So you start thinking about that.
31:32 So we can trade with them.
31:34 We will trade their gift for a pin. Exactly!
31:38 But it's helping to build the Kids studio.
31:41 And pray for us. We're right down, we hope right at the,
31:45 close to getting that property that we're looking at.
31:48 Well, let's talk about that in a minute.
31:49 But since we were talking about the camporee, and we still have
31:52 a lot I still have. Oh, yeah.
31:53 I've got some video roll I'd like to show. Right.
31:55 But before we do, when we were talking about the donations,
31:58 and giving them a pin, I have a special guest.
32:00 If you wouldn't mind if we invited her to come up.
32:03 I had met someone today that is really special.
32:07 In fact we can just put this aside, Greg.
32:10 And I'd like her to come up, and I'd like to
32:13 introduce her to you.
32:14 Come right up here.
32:16 Her name is Linda Johnson. Alright.
32:18 And Linda, would you just set right up in here?
32:20 I've heard that name before.
32:21 You have a sister by that name.
32:22 I, did I say that right?
32:24 Linda Johnson, right?
32:25 And I know, cause my sister's name is Linda Johnson. Right.
32:27 I'll just set that down there. Sure.
32:28 Ah, but Linda came by the booth today, and I was so excited
32:33 to see her because when she shared with me that her father
32:38 lives in South Africa. Uh huh.
32:40 She grew up in South Africa. Right.
32:42 And that he had sent her, mailed her something to give to me.
32:45 And she'd left it back in her tent.
32:47 So it's quite a ways to walk. Yeah.
32:48 And she said she'd have to give it to me later.
32:50 And I said, Why don't you come on tonight?
32:52 I'd like to introduce you, so that her father could see
32:54 her present the gift.
32:56 Is that okay? Alright.
32:58 So Linda, just very quickly, if you could tell me,
33:00 you grew up South Africa.
33:03 What part of South Africa?
33:04 Well, I grew up in Southern Africa actually.
33:07 My parents were missionaries in Zambia, Rhodesia, Rwanda,
33:11 which is Central Africa.
33:13 Then they came back to Zimbabwe in South Africa.
33:16 Yeah, so Southern Africa.
33:18 So your Mom and Dad live where now?
33:21 They live near Durban.
33:23 Okay, so I want to just look right in the camera right there.
33:25 Let's just look straight in there and so, Hi Mom and Dad!
33:27 Hi Mom and Dad! Ha!
33:29 And so they live in Durban, and they are...
33:32 Are they Kids Time watchers?
33:34 Yes, they are. Yes.
33:36 And tell me, you said your parents really have...
33:38 They're missionaries. Yes.
33:40 And so they have a heart for missions.
33:41 And what did your father send to you?
33:44 Well, he sent a check for $1,000.00.
33:48 A $1,000.00! Did you hear that? Wow, Amen!
33:52 For our brand new Kids Network.
33:53 I was so excited! Yes!
33:56 And you have your check with you?
33:58 Yes, I do. And I was going to mail it.
34:00 And he said, Well, Brenda's going to be
34:02 right there at Oshkosh.
34:03 Why don't you just give it to her? so...
34:04 Yep, save that postage.
34:06 Thank you very much!
34:07 Isn't this wonderful?
34:08 I'm going to pass it right on to Pastor Gilley,
34:10 who's going to take it over there and put it right
34:12 towards our Kids Network.
34:14 I'll make sure it gets in the right place, too. Alright.
34:15 And is your father a wealthy man?
34:18 No, he's not. Since he's been a missionary, you know,
34:22 he's not too wealthy.
34:24 And, in fact the $1,000.00 was about a sixth of his savings.
34:27 Wow! And I even asked him.
34:29 I wanted to make sure.
34:31 Dad are you sure you want to give a $1,000.00?
34:33 And he said, Yes, I'd rather die without any money,
34:37 and give it to a cause I believe in.
34:39 So he really believes in 3ABN, and especially
34:43 Kids Time and the youth.
34:44 And since he has great grand kids in Collegedale,
34:47 he's real excited that they're moving there. Right.
34:49 So he knows all about our new network.
34:51 You can tell he's a watcher, because he knew all
34:55 about we were going there.
34:56 And he's got grandkids there, great grandkids there.
34:57 Great grand kids. So, great grand kids.
34:59 What is your father's name?
35:01 George McKee. George McKee.
35:02 Yeah, George and Edith McKee, yes.
35:04 George and Edith, I just want to personally say thank you so much
35:08 for, you know, for your generous donation. Absolutely.
35:12 And that's sacrificial giving, right?
35:14 It certainly is. A sixth of your savings.
35:16 That's sacrificial giving.
35:17 And I just really, truly want to thank you for being the person
35:21 that brought it to us, and also for your parents.
35:25 That just really touches my heart.
35:27 So thank you so much. I appreciate it.
35:29 You're welcome. God bless you!
35:31 Amen! Thank you Linda. Thank you.
35:33 Well, listen, I know you had an exciting day, as we all did.
35:37 Well, when you have a meeting like that during the day,
35:40 I was pretty excited! You were!
35:42 You know, it's going to take a lot to get our
35:44 Kids Network off the ground.
35:45 And we need our studios built now, not five years from now.
35:49 Oh, yeah. And it needs everyone's sacrificial giving
35:52 to make this happen.
35:53 Well, we're excited about it.
35:55 I, in fact I'm getting a lot of text messages. I don't usually
35:59 I don't usually read them, but they're coming in saying,
36:03 Thank you for coming Live from Oshkosh.
36:06 It's very nice to see how the camporee is going. Thank you.
36:10 And so we appreciate that.
36:12 You can send us an e-mail if you wish.
36:15 Oh, sure, and maybe we could give them a little more idea.
36:18 They're probably going to see some of their kids.
36:21 All the watchers at home that are looking right now,
36:24 and watching; they're going to...
36:25 Look carefully, because we're going to show some of the
36:26 pictures of where I was today.
36:28 And they go, Wow! That's my daughter!
36:30 That's my son! That's my grandchild. Alright.
36:32 Why don't we run some of those right now? Okay.
36:35 Because we've been talking about them.
36:37 Sure. Well, here's the entrance into the hanger where all the
36:40 vendor booths are at.
36:41 So that's where the Adventist Book Center is,
36:44 and It Is Written, and My Place With Jesus.
36:47 And you have all... In fact the Guide magazine has a
36:51 really, really cool there.
36:53 And then most of my day is spent giving lots of hugs,
36:58 and also just giving autographs, and trading pins.
37:02 And everybody wants to trade pins.
37:04 So I'm excited to be able to look at the pins.
37:05 to look at the pins.
37:08 And I let them choose what they want to give me. Yeah.
37:10 And I say, What is it for?
37:13 And, of course, we've done this for a couple of Pathfinders.
37:15 They know that the pins are going to be on the air.
37:18 So they're looking for that show.
37:19 But there's our booth right there.
37:21 You can see behind, and its all about our Kids Network.
37:24 It's all focused on our Kids Network; trying to get the word
37:27 out about our Kids Network.
37:29 And I did a lot of pictures.
37:30 I did a lot of hugs, and a lot of signing.
37:32 And the kids were so excited.
37:34 One little boy started to walk past the booth,
37:37 and all of a sudden he stopped, and he came back,
37:40 and he just started crying.
37:42 And I was just, I said, Oh honey, what's the matter?
37:46 And I misunderstood him.
37:47 He said, he said, I thought, he said, you didn't read my letter!
37:51 Because apparently in our our sharing time,
37:53 I read the letters on the air.
37:55 And I felt so bad!
37:57 And, of course, my assistant, Melissa Hoffman, was right
38:00 there to help me out.
38:01 She said he said you did read his letter.
38:03 He was on the air. You read his letter on the air.
38:06 And he was so excited to see me that he was, you know,
38:08 seeing the person that had read his letter on the air.
38:11 So I was like, Ah, good tears!
38:14 So we had good hugs over that.
38:17 And look at all the pins over there. You can see that.
38:19 Now people are pretty imaginative with their pins.
38:22 You'll see them pin all their different types of pins
38:25 they're going to trade.
38:26 They pin them on their shirts.
38:27 They, people that wear vests, and they put them on that.
38:29 They put them on their hats.
38:30 See, I just got a good one there.
38:33 You can tell that. I was really excited.
38:35 And some of them are really elaborate pins.
38:38 You know they really took a lot to design them.
38:41 And there's people out from every kind of
38:45 country I met today.
38:47 I met them from all over the world.
38:48 I met some people from Nigeria.
38:50 I met them from British Columbia.
38:52 And I met a whole group of people from Bermuda
38:57 today that came over.
38:58 And they remembered when I'd come over there and spoke
39:01 to them at their school.
39:02 And they said, Do you remember us?
39:03 Do you remember us?
39:05 And there was one girl that was so excited to see me,
39:09 and she said, I know you remember me. I sang for you.
39:13 And do you know, God gave me that name right then and there?
39:16 I didn't have a clue what the name was, because, you know,
39:18 I meet thousands and thousands of kids.
39:20 So I'm meeting the big kids, too.
39:22 Even the big kids are in the trading business.
39:24 Look at all those pins right there.
39:25 They are really looking at all of them, and seeing what,
39:30 which one they want.
39:31 And I'm really very touched at...
39:34 Look at that. They're holding out what they're going
39:36 to give me right there.
39:38 I've met so many kids here today that actually have been
39:41 on the Kids Time program. Really? Wow!
39:43 Yes, I met former Kids Time Praise singers,
39:47 and I met the kids that had been on Sharing Time with me,
39:50 and talking about sharing their faith.
39:53 And I have a little confession to make.
39:55 I was a little mischievous today.
39:58 I, you know I... I can't imagine!
40:01 My maiden name is Micheff, you know. That's right!
40:03 And my sisters and I are often called the Mischief sisters.
40:06 So I had to do a little something mischievous today.
40:08 Right. I wish we'd had a B roll of that because our Kids Time
40:12 director has been with me, Brad Walker, he's been with me
40:16 for fifteen years now. Yes.
40:17 I could, I really could, would never want to do this
40:21 program without him.
40:22 He's just wonderful.
40:23 And he's a little bit shy behind the scenes, wouldn't you say?
40:26 Yes. So he came over just to see how we're doing,
40:28 and where the booth was, and everything.
40:30 And they, a whole bunch of kids were around,
40:33 so I whispered to them.
40:34 I said, Hey, you see that guy over there?
40:35 I said, That's our Brad Walker.
40:38 He's our Kids Time director.
40:40 I said, I need you,... And he's really kind of shy,
40:42 so I used everybody.
40:43 I said, You run over to him and you say, Are you Brad Walker?
40:46 Can I have your autograph?
40:48 Ha ha, I'm sure he loved it. Yeah.
40:52 He looks over at me like, Ah!
40:54 I'll get you later!
40:56 And he was so good, he... I mean they stood in line.
40:59 I bet there were twenty kids. Yeah.
41:02 And he stood there and signed every one of them.
41:03 Yeah, so he came back over here where we're doing out setup,
41:06 and he said, You'll never guess what Miss Brenda just did to me.
41:09 Ha ha ha! It was so fun!
41:12 But I am really, really touched, and excited because I felt the
41:16 excitement from people coming by the booth.
41:18 Our booth is all decorated about the Kids Network, and there is
41:21 a lot of excitement about our Kids Network.
41:24 And everybody's asking, When are we going to have
41:27 our building built?
41:28 Is it going to happen in Collegedale?
41:30 Where's it at? And the answer is, we're getting closer.
41:34 Yeah. And it's... We can really believe that it's God's will,
41:38 because it is just, you know, sometimes a thing like this,
41:43 it just takes a little while.
41:44 And it is taking a little while for the right
41:47 property to be found.
41:48 That's right. It's got to be the right spot.
41:50 Yeah, you can't just, you know...
41:51 When we first started looking we thought, Well, we'll just
41:55 find some acreage and that's it.
41:57 Then we started saying, Well, no it has to have Phase 3.
42:02 3 Phase power. 3 Phase power.
42:04 It's got, and then we started looking at...
42:07 We looked at one piece of property that the site
42:11 preparation on it would have probably have been close to
42:13 a half a million dollars, just to get it where
42:16 you could build on it.
42:18 Well, I had someone offer almost, there was like seven
42:21 acres of land and they said,...
42:22 No, I'm sorry, it was forty acres of land, but there was
42:25 only seven acres of it that was buildable.
42:28 It was on the top of a cliff.
42:29 And they were willing to give it to us.
42:30 Well, it would probably cost a couple
42:32 million to get that ready.
42:33 There wasn't even a road up there.
42:35 So the property has to be in the right spot.
42:38 You have to be very careful.
42:40 And one of the things that I found out many years ago,
42:43 is some of the most expensive land that can be given,
42:46 that you can ever have is that which is given to you.
42:49 Because there's usually a reason.
42:52 I had somebody give me some land one time for religious work
42:59 and it was contaminated with, you know, it had some asbestos
43:05 on it and everything.
43:07 Oh, you don't want that.
43:08 It cost more money to clean it up than it was worth.
43:11 We ended up actually just giving it to a company that cleans up
43:16 those things for the land.
43:18 Well, the good news is that we have found land that I believe
43:21 God wants us to have. Oh, I do, too.
43:22 It is in the perfect location in Collegedale. Yes.
43:25 Only a mile from the actual college. Yes.
43:29 And so it... and the reason I wanted it so close to there,
43:32 and I believe God wants it, more importantly, so close,
43:35 is so that the students from the college can come over
43:37 and do volunteer work.
43:39 They can run camera, they can work at the studios.
43:41 And also it's close to the schools. Yes it is.
43:44 They, you know, where if we have a program and we need some kids
43:47 for a couple of hours, then it's not a big deal to come over.
43:49 It's not like a field trip to come and be on the program.
43:52 They can come out for a couple of hours and go back to school.
43:54 And you've got enough kids they can be in their
43:56 own bed that night.
43:57 That's right. Well, there's over...
43:58 Just where the property that I believe God wants us to be,
44:02 and we are negotiating on it right now.
44:05 So I'm really asking everybody to pray. Just pray.
44:08 That you would just really pray and ask God...
44:11 If He'll give us that property.
44:13 That we'll receive this property.
44:14 And I think God is going to give us this property.
44:16 It is really just the perfect location.
44:19 It is, and we want...
44:21 Southern Adventist University...
44:26 Yeah, they own it. They own the land.
44:29 And they're the most fantastic group.
44:31 And we'll be good neighbors.
44:32 I've already met with their media department.
44:35 And we're excited about working together, and what we can do
44:37 to enhance: we can provide internships;
44:40 we can provide places for them to put into practice
44:43 everything they're learning. Right.
44:44 And it would put their media department on the map.
44:47 No other place would have anything like that.
44:50 And so I think it's going to be a good marriage.
44:52 Just the 5,000 kids, just really within a mile away from me.
44:55 Absolutely, absolutely.
44:57 Yeah, it's going to be amazing.
44:58 And I'm really excited about it.
45:00 Well, one of the biggest problems we do have where we are
45:01 is getting the kids there, as you know. Yes.
45:05 And many of them come right now from Collegedale up there,
45:08 but it's an eight hour drive.
45:11 On top of that we have to house them, because we don't have
45:14 that kind of housing ability.
45:16 Well most of our kids this year came from other countries. Yeah.
45:19 So they flew in from everywhere.
45:21 And, you know, people will often ask me,
45:23 Where do you find the talent?
45:25 God sends me the talent.
45:26 And they've come. This is an international network.
45:28 And so our talent comes from all around the world.
45:30 We had, even our pianist that did accompany us,
45:34 she came from Australia. Yes.
45:36 So we had really, it's an International Network.
45:38 They came from all over the world. Yes.
45:40 Another beauty of being in the Collegedale location,
45:43 because there are three international airports all within
45:47 two hours of Collegedale. Right.
45:49 So you have Atlanta, you have Nashville, you have Birmingham.
45:52 I mean that, plus a really nice airport right there in
45:55 Chattanooga, so I believe that's the spot God has for us.
45:58 And I'm really excited about that.
46:01 And, of course, my husband's kind of excited about that, too.
46:03 Because I've been volunteering for fifteen years,
46:06 as I mentioned, and most people don't know that most of the
46:10 year, seven months out of the year,
46:12 I'm at 3ABN taping programs. Right.
46:14 I don't have the privilege of coming home at night.
46:17 And my husband works in Chattanooga, so for the first
46:20 tine in fifteen years, when we get this new studio going,
46:23 I'll be able to actually go to work each day,
46:25 and come home at night.
46:26 And when I shared that with my husband he just got all choked
46:30 up, and the only thing he could say was, Isn't God faithful?
46:34 You know, It is Written is moving there as well.
46:36 Yes, we're going to be good neighbors.
46:38 Yeah. And one of the things we have found is that for the
46:43 future, if the Lord delays His coming, it's so much easier
46:47 for us to secure workers where they can have their children
46:51 in our educational institutions. Exactly.
46:53 And there they can go from kindergarten through the
46:56 university and still live at home.
47:00 So it's a very convenient place for us to do kids ministry.
47:05 And look at all the kids that you can reach right there.
47:07 One thing I hadn't mentioned as well, too, is that we have a lot
47:11 of energetic senior citizens that are retired there.
47:13 But they are energetic, have a real missionary spirit,
47:16 have a lot to give to the Lord's work. and I'm counting on them
47:18 And I'm counting on them for volunteer work, too.
47:21 So I'm really excited about what God is going to do.
47:24 And we need to have more programming for children.
47:27 When I think about it, 99.9% of the evangelism
47:30 dollars go for adults.
47:32 We need to do more for our children.
47:33 And we wonder why they're not in the church today.
47:36 Well, it's not a big mystery.
47:37 You know, if they're growing up in all their violent video
47:40 games, and all of their mysticism, and spiritualism,
47:43 and all that, it's not rocket science. No!
47:46 So we need to spiritually feed our children, and provide Christ
47:50 centered programming.
47:51 And I'm actually working a lot right now,
47:53 with getting new programs.
47:55 We've already launched on the internet.
47:56 So for people wanting to see, you can go right online
47:59 to see our Kids Network right on the internet.
48:03 And we've got, very soon, before the end of the year,
48:06 we're going to be loading up new programs that are going
48:08 to be coming up there.
48:10 And it's going to be a, we're going to build this up to be
48:11 an awesome network.
48:13 So probably in a year, when we're ready to move into our new
48:15 studios, we'll be ready to launch to satellite right away.
48:18 Wow! You know, one of the things I wanted to talk about, too,
48:21 Brenda, is because this is amazing.
48:22 Because we were showing shots earlier of you at the booth.
48:24 Yes! Now this is a huge project for those of you at home,
48:27 because you were supposed to be doing Learning Time today. Yes.
48:31 You weren't supposed to be at the booth. No.
48:32 So you had the wonderful opportunity of being at the
48:34 booth today, because we... Why didn't we do
48:36 Learning Time today?
48:37 Well, first of all, did you already share with them?
48:39 We're here because Ben Roy is our Learning Time host.
48:42 We are going to tape Learning Time right here at
48:44 Pathfinder Camporee, where hundreds of people can be,
48:46 hundreds of kids, Pathfinders from around the world
48:48 have a chance to be on the program.
48:50 Kids told me today they're so excited.
48:52 I never dreamed I could be on Kids Time!
48:54 I'm so excited! And they were really...
48:57 It is an opportunity, unique opportunity, they'd
48:59 normally never have.
49:00 So we're taping it here every single day.
49:03 And we were actually supposed to tape here
49:04 today starting at noon. That's right.
49:06 And we woke up to a very dreary day.
49:08 Let's start actually rolling some of that footage.
49:10 We actually had some people out getting some of that footage.
49:12 So last night we showed a video of footage earlier of the
49:15 clouds kind of coming in.
49:16 It was beautiful, beautiful weather yesterday.
49:19 Well, the downpour started last night,
49:21 and it rained, and it rained.
49:23 And look at all those tents.
49:24 Look at those mud puddles.
49:25 So last night it was raining.
49:27 We woke up this morning and we thought,
49:29 Maybe it will clear out.
49:30 Wow! We woke up this morning and these are the shots.
49:32 And not only did it rain hard, it turned colder. Yes.
49:37 You see some of these people, I felt very sorry for them.
49:40 They're on the way to the showers and stuff this morning.
49:42 They were shivering.
49:43 And I saw some of the little ones shivering
49:45 with their little rain coats on, because it was in the 50's,
49:48 I believe this morning when I woke up, with a cold 25 mph
49:52 wind out of the north.
49:53 And so we were praying.
49:55 And you can see how muddy the fields,
49:56 and the grass and stuff were.
49:57 There you are Pastor Jim. Yeah!
49:59 Playing a little football with the guys.
50:00 You can see the jackets on, everyone has.
50:02 It was cold so we were praying.
50:04 I was cold with that jacket on, I guarantee you.
50:06 So we were praying hard, because this affects us. We're outside.
50:08 We're outside, and we're doing programming.
50:11 And the ground was so wet that we couldn't even move
50:12 some of our equipment without sinking in mud.
50:15 So we made an executive decision to have a day where
50:20 we'll just start in the morning on the on a sunny day.
50:22 Look at the wind blowing there.
50:23 Isn't that something?
50:25 Oh yeah, I felt so sorry for these campers.
50:26 Oh, I did, too. So we were praying that it would clear.
50:29 And, by God's grace, you can't really see it,
50:32 we're experiencing now, but there's actually a beautiful
50:33 sunset; well, not a sunset, but the sun is setting,
50:35 and it's clear out, and it warmed up today.
50:38 So here is again those poor Pathfinders suffering.
50:41 But the Lord is good! He is!
50:43 And for those that weren't able to see, we were literally
50:45 rushing here to the very end just getting this nightlight
50:48 up and going, because we were basically how far behind?
50:50 Maybe, possibly a day?
50:51 Well, a full day behind.
50:53 And it just; we're going to catch up.
50:57 You know what? God's, this is God's program.
50:59 He's going to give us what we need.
51:00 He sure will. Yes, absolutely.
51:02 And look at that, even the young people, though they're wet,
51:04 and a little cold, did you see the smiles?
51:05 They're still happy! Yeah.
51:07 And they're still trading pins, even in the rain,
51:09 as you were talking about.
51:11 That's right. And by the way, Ben Roy,
51:12 we appreciate Ben so much!
51:15 Yeah, Oh, he's been with me from the beginning. Yeah.
51:17 All fifteen years! Dedicated man of God, and he loves kids.
51:21 And let me tell you what, kids love him!
51:24 Yes, they do. They really do.
51:25 You know, while we were out doing some shots,
51:27 a little kid came up next to me, and he says, I need to be on
51:31 the front row. I'm Ben Roy's grandson.
51:33 I said, Yes, you do! Ha ha!
51:36 You know, speaking of kids, you and I have, well, Greg,
51:41 all of us know, and a special friend of all of ours,
51:44 and someone Miss Brenda loves so much wanted to be here
51:48 so bad at Pathfinders.
51:49 She, it would have been her first Pathfinders.
51:52 She just turned old enough to come, and she was so excited.
51:55 She fell ill, and she's actually in the hospital right now. Oh!
51:58 And so I wanted to say a special shout out to Nori.
52:01 I wanted you to know, Nori, that Miss Brends loves you. Yes!
52:04 And I'm sending back a special thing just for you.
52:09 You know, we're going to have a special prayer for her.
52:12 Greg, lead us in prayer, would you?
52:14 Father in Heaven, Lord what a privilege it is to be able to
52:18 talk to You, our God, our King.
52:20 Father, You don't want any of your children to suffer,
52:23 Father, whether young or old
52:25 And right now we lift up our dear little friend, Lord, Nori,
52:30 for this was going to be her first Pathfinder.
52:31 But, Lord, she's sick.
52:33 She has fallen ill, but, Lord, You know all about it.
52:35 And, Lord, we just pray that Your hand would be upon her.
52:39 And, Lord, all that she's suffering with, Father would
52:41 be lifted, and that she would have, Lord, just wonderful
52:46 years ahead of her without any medical procedures,
52:50 and things following up, Lord, with what
52:52 she's dealing with now.
52:53 Thank You God that we know You hear our prayers.
52:55 You hear the prayers of her parents, because that's a lot of
52:58 stress on them as well, and her siblings, Lord.
53:00 Please be with them.
53:01 Give them comfort and peace.
53:03 And, Father, we just thank You for hearing, and answering our
53:06 prayer according to Your Son, Jesus Christ, Amen. Amen. Amen.
53:11 Nori, I want you to know that Jesus loves you, and I do too.
53:15 Amen, and you know this is a very serious illness.
53:19 It's is not just a minor thing.
53:21 She was so disappointed.
53:23 She wanted to be here so bad. Yeah.
53:25 So I've got a little few surprises for her.
53:27 Yeah. And I believe the Lord is going to bring her healing.
53:31 Amen. I really do. We need to pray for each other.
53:33 And I've asked everybody to pray for Nori.
53:36 You know, lift her up in prayer.
53:37 I believe in the power of prayer.
53:39 I do, too! Boy, that's for sure.
53:40 So please pray for her.
53:42 And, by the way, we're going to have a wonderful program
53:44 for you tomorrow night.
53:45 Terry Dodge is going to be here.
53:47 Terry Dodge is the historian when it comes to Pathfinders.
53:52 He's going to give us the full history,
53:55 from the very beginning of Pathfinders.
53:57 I'm looking forward to it. I am, too.
53:59 And so tell your friends.
54:01 If you've ever had any interest in this at all, you're going to
54:05 really enjoy tomorrow night.
54:07 We have some... And you'll be back.
54:09 And we'll be showing shots from Learning Time,
54:12 so that you'll see all the kids that came and were a part of our
54:15 Learning Time programs.
54:16 So you'll be able to see us in action.
54:17 I'll bring some footage for you that we can watch,
54:20 and I'm sure people stay tuned because they
54:23 want to see their kids.
54:24 Oh, absolutely! And we'll try to bring as many shots,
54:27 and from different places around.
54:29 I'm going to see if Jill will go out and do some on the spot
54:32 reporting for us, and we'll bring her on.
54:35 If not Live, by tape, or Live if we can.
54:39 So we're looking forward to our program tomorrow night.
54:43 Plan to be with us: 7:00 o'clock tomorrow night.
54:45 Again, we'll be coming, Lord willing,
54:48 Live, right here from Oshkosh.
54:51 And I'm going to ask you to continue to pray that we have
54:56 good weather here, that God will continue to bless everything
55:00 that takes place on this camp ground. Amen!
55:04 And that these kids will be kept safe.
55:06 Because anytime you get 50,000 young people together
55:10 you can have problems.
55:12 You can have accidents.
55:13 You can have things happen. That's right.
55:14 There is more energy here than you'll ever see
55:18 any place in the world.
55:20 And I'd ask that the prayers go up for the kids here, too,
55:23 that they'll be drawn closer to Jesus. Oh, yes!
55:25 There is a guy that came up to me today, and he's a little
55:30 older teenager, and he said, I want you to know, he said,
55:32 I came here with my brother.
55:34 He said, But I had a really incredible experience
55:38 in my tent with everybody; listening to how
55:41 spiritual they were.
55:43 And he said, I've got to say, he said, I renewed
55:44 my walk with Jesus last night. Wow! Amen.
55:47 Well, it was good to have you, Greg.
55:50 Thank you. It's fun to be here.
55:52 I miss C. A. Oh, I know, I do, too.
55:54 But you did a great job, and it was good to have you.
55:58 And again, I apologize for wearing these loud shirts,
56:02 but we just did not feel like wearing suits here.
56:05 Well, if you could see, we're actually under a tent.
56:07 Aren't we? A big tent.
56:09 And it is a kids program; a kids event.
56:10 So I think that right there.
56:12 And we come in in sports shirts, and then Whitehead shows up
56:16 in a tuxedo almost.
56:17 I mean he was dressed up in his Pathfinder uniform.
56:21 And, of course, he's the ranking Pathfinder here, so he's got to
56:27 dress the part. Yes.
56:29 Alright, you be thinking about us, and remember that 3ABN
56:35 is your network, and it's God's network. Yeah, true.
56:39 This network exists for one purpose only; to spread this
56:43 message around the world.
56:45 And we will continue to do so.
56:48 We try to bring you things that are interesting, and maybe even
56:52 sometimes controversial, because we want you to know that we're
56:57 sort of on the cutting edge with things.
56:59 But this network can only continue because you support it.
57:05 That's true. Amen.
57:06 And we thank you for your prayers
57:08 and for your financial support.
57:10 It is through this that we're able to continue growing,
57:14 and going, and adding such things as our Kids Network.
57:18 So we'll be hoping to see you again tomorrow night.
57:21 Until then remember to keep on keeping on with Jesus Christ,
57:26 our Lord, our God, our Creator, and our Savior.
57:30 Amen.
