Well good evening, and we're coming to you 00:00:24.12\00:00:26.25 from Surprise, Arizona. 00:00:26.29\00:00:29.12 And the reason I'm laughing is that sometimes I want to say, 00:00:29.16\00:00:34.13 Sunshine because it's so bright here, 00:00:34.16\00:00:36.13 you know, and so beautiful. 00:00:36.16\00:00:38.50 And in fact I slipped one time and called it that, 00:00:38.53\00:00:41.80 and I've never heard the end of it from Pastor Murrell Tull. 00:00:41.84\00:00:45.21 But we're in this beautiful church, 00:00:45.24\00:00:47.71 and we're having a tremendous time. 00:00:47.74\00:00:50.71 And I think that you've been just as thrilled with this 00:00:50.75\00:00:54.48 first few days here as I've been. 00:00:54.52\00:00:57.39 We have heard two excellent messages, and one of our 00:00:57.42\00:01:01.49 panelists, Pastor Jeff Zaremsky, the worship leader in Florida. 00:01:01.52\00:01:05.79 Fabulous message, deep message, a lot to say to us 00:01:05.83\00:01:08.96 from a unique perspective. 00:01:09.00\00:01:10.53 And that's what I like about these presentations that come 00:01:10.57\00:01:13.84 from those with a Jewish heritage. 00:01:13.87\00:01:16.20 They have a unique perspective on the Bible in its entirety. 00:01:16.24\00:01:19.51 Right. And that's what Jeffrey remind us again of this night. 00:01:19.54\00:01:22.28 Absolutely! And we're learning some things, because, you know, 00:01:22.31\00:01:25.55 somehow in our mind we've had the idea that there was the 00:01:25.58\00:01:31.75 Old Testament, the New Testament, and of course there 00:01:31.79\00:01:34.06 is in a very real sense, but there is also a oneness that is 00:01:34.09\00:01:41.13 here in Scripture. Yes. 00:01:41.16\00:01:43.37 And this is the amazing and beautiful thing. 00:01:43.40\00:01:47.84 Well, would you introduce our panel? 00:01:47.87\00:01:50.44 Well, we have Ralph Ringer in the lead seat, I guess it is. 00:01:50.47\00:01:57.05 Well, he's closest to us, and directs the Jewish work at the 00:01:57.08\00:02:00.45 North American Division, and a good friend 00:02:00.48\00:02:03.79 of the ministry, and we love him. 00:02:03.82\00:02:05.15 Our speaker for this evening, Jeff Jaremsky. 00:02:05.19\00:02:07.72 Two congregations he is the leader of in Florida, 00:02:07.76\00:02:10.16 and I always get them wrong, so Jeff what are they? 00:02:10.19\00:02:12.29 They are Frontier Beth El-Shalom, New Port Richey and 00:02:12.33\00:02:15.80 Beth El-Shalom, Saint Petersburg. 00:02:15.83\00:02:17.40 Alrighty. And Jeff has told us that he's allergic to cold, 00:02:17.43\00:02:20.44 so we gave him some good weather. 00:02:20.47\00:02:22.80 That's why he's pastoring, and working down in Florida. 00:02:22.84\00:02:24.87 And our friend, the theologian from Oregon, 00:02:24.91\00:02:28.08 Sasha Alexander Bolotnikov. 00:02:28.11\00:02:31.31 Are you in Oregon now? 00:02:31.35\00:02:32.68 I thought you were in Cincinnati. I missed it. 00:02:32.71\00:02:35.22 No, I'm already in Oregon. 00:02:35.25\00:02:36.58 Well, actually, technically in Washington. 00:02:36.62\00:02:38.99 Okay. Vancouver, Washington, but it belongs 00:02:39.02\00:02:41.89 to Oregon Conference. 00:02:41.92\00:02:43.36 Alright, okay. Well, we're... and tell us a little bit. 00:02:43.39\00:02:47.03 What are you doing there? 00:02:47.06\00:02:48.40 Well, besides directing the Shalom Learning Center, 00:02:48.43\00:02:52.43 which is a training and outreach institution for North American 00:02:52.47\00:02:57.61 Division, I'm also leading a congregation there. 00:02:57.64\00:03:01.78 Alright. And in your spare time you do what? 00:03:02.08\00:03:05.88 Ha! Sasha keeps busy! 00:03:05.91\00:03:09.18 And then he co-hosts a program for us, which has... 00:03:09.22\00:03:12.42 That's my spare time. 00:03:12.45\00:03:14.16 Yes, ha ha, ha, right. 00:03:14.19\00:03:15.66 So we appreciate that. 00:03:17.13\00:03:18.59 Ralph give us just a sense of what you were called to do, 00:03:18.63\00:03:21.96 what your portfolio entails. 00:03:22.00\00:03:24.50 Well, when I was evangelism coordinator for the Florida 00:03:24.53\00:03:28.80 Conference, I gained a deeper passion for reaching the Jewish 00:03:28.84\00:03:36.11 people, especially when I understood from the Bible, 00:03:36.14\00:03:39.11 and the Spirit of Prophecy, they are the last 00:03:39.15\00:03:41.98 people group to be reached. 00:03:42.02\00:03:43.52 And the Lord laid on my heart to enable, to help to fund, 00:03:43.55\00:03:50.23 organize, and put them on. 00:03:50.26\00:03:53.80 In fact, the man sitting beside you had a lot to do with me 00:03:53.83\00:03:58.00 going to the division. 00:03:58.03\00:03:59.37 I was happy doing that in Florida in the Southern Union. 00:03:59.40\00:04:02.50 And then he asked me to lead out in the North American Division. 00:04:02.54\00:04:07.44 And that's what we're still doing; 00:04:07.48\00:04:10.95 like bringing Sasha in, getting Jeff started in the work there 00:04:10.98\00:04:16.48 in Florida, so I don't actually do Jewish ministry. 00:04:16.52\00:04:21.62 I enable, I set the culture, the funds, organize so that it can 00:04:21.66\00:04:26.93 happen, and also the go between between conference, 00:04:26.96\00:04:31.07 between churches, and so on, and the workers. 00:04:31.10\00:04:34.04 Because the Devil knows this is the last work, the last people 00:04:34.07\00:04:39.67 group to be reached, and so he pulls out all the stops to try 00:04:39.71\00:04:44.05 to stop that from happening to slow down Jesus' coming. 00:04:44.08\00:04:48.38 If you were to go to Jeff's synagogue there... 00:04:48.42\00:04:52.82 I've been many times to the one that's, it's in Clearwater, no! 00:04:52.85\00:04:59.69 Well, you've got the Clearwater... 00:04:59.73\00:05:01.30 St. Pete is where it is. 00:05:01.33\00:05:04.77 And I've been there many times. 00:05:04.80\00:05:07.67 If you went in that, and if you've been in synagogues, 00:05:07.70\00:05:11.41 you're going into a synagogue. 00:05:11.44\00:05:13.17 They've got the Torah there. It's in an ark. 00:05:13.21\00:05:17.08 When the Lord gave me the privilege of being at 00:05:17.11\00:05:20.78 North American Division I was, I wore a lot of hats. 00:05:20.82\00:05:25.45 I was on 65 boards and committees, chairing a great 00:05:25.49\00:05:29.52 deal of them, one of which was this particular committee. 00:05:29.56\00:05:34.10 We were able to buy, or to purchase ten of those, 00:05:34.13\00:05:38.67 if my memory serves me correct, at $4,000.00 apiece, 00:05:38.70\00:05:43.20 which was an excellent buy. 00:05:43.24\00:05:45.17 We bought ten of those. 00:05:45.21\00:05:47.24 They're beautiful, old antique, from out of Europe, and each one 00:05:47.28\00:05:55.45 of the synagogues has one. 00:05:55.48\00:05:58.45 There may be some others somewhere, I don't know. 00:05:58.49\00:06:01.36 There may be more than one, because you have a beautiful one 00:06:01.39\00:06:05.73 there, and each time they do the reading of the Scripture, 00:06:05.76\00:06:10.27 they bring that out. 00:06:10.30\00:06:11.87 And this is much like when Jesus opened the scrolls 00:06:11.90\00:06:16.27 and read from Isaiah. 00:06:16.30\00:06:19.24 It is very similar to what we have there. 00:06:19.27\00:06:23.75 Ah Jim, I noticed that you were referring 00:06:23.78\00:06:26.31 to it as a synagogue. 00:06:26.35\00:06:27.85 Some of our congregations do that. 00:06:27.88\00:06:30.22 I prefer that we use the word congregation, because we don't 00:06:30.25\00:06:38.93 want to be limited to what a synagogue does. Okay. 00:06:38.96\00:06:43.37 On the other hand, we don't want to be limited to 00:06:43.40\00:06:49.90 what a church does. Right. 00:06:49.94\00:06:52.14 And so congregation is acceptable on both sides, 00:06:52.17\00:06:57.05 and we have a tendency to ruffle less feathers, and also to get 00:06:57.08\00:07:04.92 the message out to both groups what the work really is. 00:07:04.95\00:07:10.49 It's to congregate God's people into that oneness that Jeff 00:07:10.53\00:07:17.63 talked about tonight in his presentation. 00:07:17.67\00:07:20.24 In that one tree where the Gentiles are grafted in, 00:07:20.27\00:07:24.84 some of the Jews had been cut off, but then they could be 00:07:24.87\00:07:29.34 grafted back in into one tree where the 00:07:29.38\00:07:33.58 Messiah, Jesus is the root. 00:07:33.62\00:07:35.48 And so, therefore, I would prefer to look at it that way. 00:07:35.52\00:07:42.32 I think it's a broader reach and understanding. 00:07:42.36\00:07:45.59 And then because it's a congregation, 00:07:45.63\00:07:48.83 they are not limited to do just what churches or synagogues do, 00:07:48.86\00:07:54.10 but they can bring together God's people. 00:07:54.14\00:07:56.84 And, Jim, I know you're very sensitive to that also, 00:07:56.87\00:07:59.27 having led that group. 00:07:59.31\00:08:00.74 But, going to you, Jeff, so you prefer the term 00:08:00.78\00:08:03.95 congregational leader. 00:08:03.98\00:08:06.08 It kind of frees you to minister in the way that 00:08:06.11\00:08:09.35 you wish, don't you? 00:08:09.38\00:08:10.92 Sure, that's a good term for again broad spectrum. 00:08:10.95\00:08:14.26 But in the synagogue there are, in the congregation there, 00:08:14.29\00:08:18.06 we use the term Rabbi as well. 00:08:18.09\00:08:19.63 Uh huh, yah, uh huh. 00:08:19.66\00:08:21.00 Although we have to be kind of careful, because when we 00:08:21.60\00:08:27.90 announce Rabbi in the traditional Jewish community 00:08:27.94\00:08:32.04 it means an individual, leader, teacher, who is ordained, 00:08:32.07\00:08:37.61 and recognized by the Jewish community. 00:08:37.65\00:08:43.45 And, you know, we don't want to be looked upon as some kind of 00:08:43.49\00:08:50.63 deceptive in this sense. 00:08:50.66\00:08:53.83 We want people to understand who we are. 00:08:53.86\00:08:57.40 We want people to understand what they're choosing. 00:08:57.43\00:09:00.90 I think we need to be sensitive. 00:09:00.94\00:09:04.17 It's a little bit like, as a pastor if someone addresses you 00:09:04.21\00:09:11.85 as, and respectfully from a different background, Reverend. 00:09:11.88\00:09:18.45 I don't think we ought to make a big issue out of it. 00:09:18.49\00:09:20.86 At the same time, I don't think we ought to 00:09:20.89\00:09:24.39 necessarily address ourself. 00:09:24.43\00:09:26.19 I'm not saying Rabbi is like that. 00:09:26.23\00:09:28.03 I'm just saying that we need to be sensitive to both the 00:09:28.06\00:09:33.84 Christian background, and the Jewish background. 00:09:33.87\00:09:37.17 And, as Paul said, he was all things to all people that 00:09:37.21\00:09:44.55 some might be saved. 00:09:44.58\00:09:45.91 And that we are sensitive, and that if we are addressed in a 00:09:45.95\00:09:52.55 certain way by a certain group, let's not be a problematic, 00:09:52.59\00:09:57.13 or on the other hand, not be offended. 00:09:57.16\00:10:00.96 It's really a broad term though in many, many respects. 00:10:01.00\00:10:05.77 In fact you'll find that Jesus, who probably was not an ordained 00:10:05.80\00:10:11.17 Rabbi, was often referred to as Rabbi. 00:10:11.21\00:10:14.74 So I even call C. A. Rabbi now and then. 00:10:14.78\00:10:19.61 It's interesting in the Jewish community, actually the term 00:10:19.65\00:10:25.52 Rabbi is the Aramaic word meaning great; 00:10:25.55\00:10:29.39 somebody in the position of authority. 00:10:29.42\00:10:32.23 And actually Rabbi's, unlike the priests, 00:10:32.26\00:10:36.00 are not of Aaronic descent. 00:10:36.03\00:10:38.30 It's the lay people who, basically around the third 00:10:38.33\00:10:42.67 century BC, second century BC took the role of being the 00:10:42.70\00:10:48.71 teachers of the Torah, because, unfortunately, Levites and 00:10:48.74\00:10:53.58 priests became a bit corrupted, and tempted with money. 00:10:53.62\00:10:57.92 And that's how the term arrived. 00:10:57.95\00:10:59.95 But it also, but now in the modern society it has this 00:10:59.99\00:11:04.99 kind of a specific connotation. 00:11:05.03\00:11:07.56 So when people say, You know, and for many Jewish people 00:11:07.60\00:11:11.50 a teacher is the Rabbi. 00:11:11.53\00:11:13.27 And they'll still call me Rabbi. 00:11:13.30\00:11:15.50 You know, I have my degree in Rabbinic literature. 00:11:15.54\00:11:19.27 But I am proud to be an ordained Seventh-day Adventist pastor. 00:11:19.31\00:11:25.11 And regardless of the fact that during my course of studies 00:11:25.15\00:11:29.62 I was approached by my colleagues and teachers to go 00:11:29.65\00:11:35.09 into a real Rabbinate, and be a Rabbi of reformed congregation, 00:11:35.12\00:11:40.40 I respectfully declined this because I am loyal 00:11:40.46\00:11:45.20 to the church I believe. 00:11:45.23\00:11:47.64 Alright. Well, good. 00:11:47.67\00:11:49.17 One of the things we talked about when we met a couple 00:11:49.20\00:11:51.34 years ago, and went with this, Jim, was because you wanted 00:11:51.37\00:11:54.61 the world to know, and Ralph has touched on this, 00:11:54.64\00:11:57.71 that this is a specific people group that you have to reach 00:11:57.75\00:12:03.32 in a very specific way. 00:12:03.35\00:12:04.95 It's not a one size fits all kind of thing. 00:12:04.99\00:12:08.26 When you're dealing with Christians of other faiths, 00:12:08.29\00:12:10.39 you have some common ground that you can sort of begin with. 00:12:10.43\00:12:14.60 When you're dealing with the Jewish man, I can't grab you 00:12:14.63\00:12:17.07 by the tie and say, You need to give your heart to Jesus, 00:12:17.10\00:12:19.00 because He died for your sins. 00:12:19.03\00:12:20.37 That's not going to fly. 00:12:20.40\00:12:21.90 It won't fly with anybody else either. 00:12:21.94\00:12:24.61 That is very, very true! 00:12:24.64\00:12:26.21 But what we're saying is that when you're dealing with 00:12:26.24\00:12:31.05 our Jewish brethren, there is a certain way you have to approach 00:12:31.08\00:12:33.98 if you want to be perceived as legitimate. 00:12:34.02\00:12:37.85 And you're not going to be able to go in with some of the things 00:12:37.89\00:12:40.42 that we've classically done with other Christians. 00:12:40.46\00:12:43.46 And this is also true of the Muslim community. 00:12:43.49\00:12:45.69 That these people groups are, I don't want to say difficult, 00:12:45.73\00:12:50.67 but your texture has to be different, and the way you 00:12:50.70\00:12:53.84 approach them has to be different. Is that not so? 00:12:53.87\00:12:56.27 Well, you know the Apostolic Church, of course, was Jewish. 00:12:56.30\00:13:00.21 And there was not, even though it was either a Jewish person 00:13:00.24\00:13:06.92 who accepts Christ as the Messiah, or they do not; 00:13:06.95\00:13:11.49 one or the other. Later on the Gospel goes to the Gentiles. 00:13:11.52\00:13:16.06 And then the Gentiles, in a very, well, within a hundred 00:13:16.09\00:13:20.80 years, there were probably a thousand Gentile believers 00:13:20.83\00:13:23.90 for every one Jewish believer. 00:13:23.93\00:13:25.63 Because it really started to grow in that group. 00:13:25.67\00:13:29.67 But there also began to present some problems when this 00:13:29.70\00:13:35.54 happened, so that it made a separation considerably, 00:13:35.58\00:13:39.98 between the Jewish mind and the Gentile mind, so that people 00:13:40.02\00:13:48.92 began to... The Jews were sort of pushed back. 00:13:48.96\00:13:54.43 That's really where more of the replacement theology came in 00:13:54.46\00:13:58.40 is along about that particular time. 00:13:58.43\00:14:01.37 And misquoting some of the things that Paul 00:14:01.40\00:14:03.61 said, and so forth. 00:14:03.64\00:14:04.97 So then you see this separation between the two, 00:14:05.01\00:14:08.94 which didn't exist in the original. 00:14:08.98\00:14:11.61 It was the Apostolic Church were Jewish people... 00:14:11.65\00:14:17.45 You know, sometimes we hear, Well, the Jews rejected Jesus. 00:14:17.49\00:14:20.99 They really did not. 00:14:21.02\00:14:22.36 The early Christian's were Jews. 00:14:22.39\00:14:24.29 The Disciples were Jews. 00:14:24.33\00:14:26.86 The seventy were Jews. 00:14:26.90\00:14:29.03 The people that the 3,000 that were baptized at Pentecost 00:14:29.06\00:14:32.23 were Jews, and they accepted. 00:14:32.27\00:14:35.20 The nation, the leadership, no. 00:14:35.24\00:14:39.27 Some did, but as a unit they did not. 00:14:39.31\00:14:43.45 But the honest at heart accepted. 00:14:43.48\00:14:47.28 And our very basic beginning is a 00:14:47.32\00:14:50.89 Jewdayo-Christian beginning. 00:14:50.92\00:14:53.15 It's where it all started. 00:14:53.19\00:14:54.99 And I believe that Seventh-day Adventists... 00:14:55.02\00:14:57.23 In fact a very fine young man who I'm very close to accepted 00:14:57.26\00:15:04.57 Jesus Christ and he said, I am complete now. 00:15:04.60\00:15:08.70 Because of the belief... 00:15:08.74\00:15:10.97 You see, he had studied other Protestant beliefs, and because 00:15:11.01\00:15:17.75 they rejected the Sabbath, they rejected so many things, 00:15:17.78\00:15:22.08 he said, I could not find the thing I was looking for. 00:15:22.12\00:15:27.49 But when I found the Seventh-day Adventist message, then he said, 00:15:27.52\00:15:32.56 I saw this is the Apostolic religion. 00:15:32.59\00:15:36.83 This is the Jewish religion, in a sense, 00:15:36.87\00:15:40.37 with Christ at the very center. 00:15:40.40\00:15:42.37 And so this, I believe, is the message we need to be presenting 00:15:42.40\00:15:47.68 to the Jewish people is that this is the fulfillment. 00:15:47.71\00:15:53.38 This is IT! It's almost like a Messianic Jew in a sense, 00:15:53.42\00:16:00.26 but even though that's not exactly the truth. 00:16:00.29\00:16:03.16 You know, what you mentioned, Jim, if we go back for the first 00:16:03.19\00:16:08.06 hundred years, or the first century, I should say, up until 00:16:08.10\00:16:11.83 the change into the second century Jews out numbered 00:16:11.87\00:16:17.67 Gentiles in the church. Right. 00:16:17.71\00:16:20.41 It started in the second century where at the first time that 00:16:20.44\00:16:25.15 the Gentiles out numbered. 00:16:25.18\00:16:27.18 They brought things in. 00:16:27.22\00:16:28.92 There were three things that happened that set the stage 00:16:28.95\00:16:33.12 for the fallacies that Jeff was talking about a few moments ago, 00:16:33.15\00:16:37.99 and the series about replacement theology, 00:16:38.03\00:16:41.10 about dispensations, etc. 00:16:41.13\00:16:43.93 And there were three things that brought it in, 00:16:43.97\00:16:47.04 that worked together. 00:16:47.07\00:16:49.70 We have some people they look at, and we as Seventh-day 00:16:49.74\00:16:54.41 Adventists look at the change of the Sabbath, 00:16:54.44\00:16:56.44 and we have stood very strong there. 00:16:56.48\00:16:58.35 There are two other things that help to facilitate that. 00:16:58.38\00:17:03.42 And that facilitation happened with the Gentiles bringing in 00:17:03.45\00:17:08.99 paganistic ideas, and enforcing them, 00:17:09.02\00:17:13.13 that led us into the dark ages. 00:17:13.16\00:17:15.26 And those other two things are replacement theology, 00:17:15.30\00:17:19.07 and separation between clergy and laity. 00:17:19.10\00:17:22.57 And because the clergy gained all the power in that hierarchy, 00:17:22.60\00:17:29.34 then they could change the Sabbath. 00:17:29.38\00:17:31.71 Because the Jews had been replaced, they could take 00:17:31.75\00:17:35.28 and change the day. 00:17:35.32\00:17:36.65 This is an over simplification, but this is 00:17:36.69\00:17:40.39 basically what happened. 00:17:40.42\00:17:41.92 And we have to understand those three together to totally 00:17:41.96\00:17:46.83 undo what was done there, starting in the second 00:17:46.86\00:17:50.20 and in the third century, and which brings about these false 00:17:50.23\00:17:55.34 theologies that comes into Christianity that 00:17:55.37\00:17:59.67 Jeff and Sasha have addressed. 00:17:59.71\00:18:02.11 That's interesting, and actually in the DNA of our church 00:18:02.14\00:18:11.15 there is a three angels' message. 00:18:11.19\00:18:13.19 And we often focus on worship when we talk about three angels' 00:18:13.22\00:18:18.96 message, which is the message of the first angel. 00:18:18.99\00:18:23.63 But there is a message of the second angel, 00:18:23.67\00:18:26.07 which is the Babylon. 00:18:26.10\00:18:27.87 And actually this confusion, this mixing up, 00:18:27.90\00:18:32.37 started in the second century. 00:18:32.41\00:18:35.18 That's what actually led to anti-Jewish sentiments 00:18:35.21\00:18:41.02 within the Christianity. 00:18:41.05\00:18:43.12 And historian, you mentioned Jim, Judea Christianity. 00:18:43.15\00:18:47.32 That's the first term. 00:18:47.36\00:18:49.12 You know, it's now, people often say, first Apostolic 00:18:49.16\00:18:54.56 Church, but in the academic historical literature there is a 00:18:54.60\00:18:59.93 term used, Judea Christian. 00:18:59.97\00:19:02.40 So Judea Christians began to die down in the middle of the 00:19:02.44\00:19:09.11 second century under the pressure from mainly Gnostics. 00:19:09.14\00:19:15.98 Gnostics are Greek people who came to Christianity. 00:19:16.02\00:19:21.92 But what happened to them, they did not change 00:19:21.96\00:19:25.39 their way of thinking. 00:19:25.43\00:19:27.60 They remained the Greek, they remained very philosophical, 00:19:27.63\00:19:32.80 they remained, they began to interpret Bible allegorically, 00:19:32.83\00:19:39.21 and that was totally, totally against the Jewish mindset, 00:19:39.24\00:19:45.51 and against the spirit of the Bible. 00:19:45.55\00:19:48.95 And eventually we have such a church father of such origin who 00:19:48.98\00:19:54.36 ridicules the Sabbath. 00:19:54.39\00:19:56.62 And, of course, we have a very political persecution, you know. 00:19:56.66\00:20:01.16 The ancient Jewish sources such as Midrash quote, for example, 00:20:01.20\00:20:06.33 the comedy plays in the Roman amphitheaters. 00:20:06.37\00:20:10.34 You know, when the camel comes out and the camel has a 00:20:10.37\00:20:14.74 sackcloth on it, and they ask, Why is the camel 00:20:14.78\00:20:19.51 wearing a sackcloth? 00:20:19.55\00:20:21.32 Oh, because the camel belongs to a Jew, 00:20:21.35\00:20:25.92 and today is the Sabbath, and the Jew doesn't feed the camel. 00:20:25.95\00:20:30.29 And everybody laughs. 00:20:30.33\00:20:31.66 So there was this first anti-Semitism in the mid second 00:20:31.69\00:20:36.60 century, and it was connected with the Sabbath. 00:20:36.63\00:20:40.77 And so it was a ridiculing of the Jews, and the rise of the 00:20:40.80\00:20:48.71 allegorical interpretation that stemmed from Greek philosophy 00:20:48.74\00:20:54.88 that actually changed the direction of the church 00:20:54.92\00:20:59.05 into a wrong way, and that led to the fact the Jews first 00:20:59.09\00:21:05.29 stopped coming to the church, and then they were 00:21:05.33\00:21:07.60 pushed out of the church. 00:21:07.63\00:21:09.33 That's, I think that's the key. 00:21:09.36\00:21:11.03 Between the early years when the church was predominately Jewish, 00:21:11.07\00:21:14.74 and the Protestant Reformation, which is a long period of time, 00:21:14.77\00:21:17.67 you could not have had the establishment of the medieval 00:21:17.74\00:21:20.58 church without the demonization of the Jewish community. 00:21:20.61\00:21:24.31 You had to get that Jewish influence out of there. 00:21:24.35\00:21:26.35 You've got to get the Sabbath out of there. 00:21:26.38\00:21:27.78 You had to get all of the Jewish influences, so the only way the 00:21:27.82\00:21:33.09 church could do that was to demonize of them. 00:21:33.12\00:21:34.82 And you hit on something last night, Sasha, 00:21:34.86\00:21:36.32 that was very, very good. 00:21:36.36\00:21:37.69 The church said, Listen, to the Jews. 00:21:37.73\00:21:40.53 Here's your options: 1. You've got 5 days to get out of Dodge, 00:21:40.56\00:21:45.47 2. Convert to Catholicism, 3. You're dead. 00:21:45.50\00:21:52.11 Now you pick the option, but those are your three choices. 00:21:52.14\00:21:55.08 And in doing so you effectively remove the Jewish influence, 00:21:55.11\00:22:00.82 which is your centering influence. 00:22:00.85\00:22:02.92 So once you take out of the center, the pole where this 00:22:02.95\00:22:05.59 thing sits on, or the cornerstone, 00:22:05.62\00:22:07.52 now you can go anywhere. 00:22:07.56\00:22:09.06 So any theology that comes in, any pagan theology comes in, 00:22:09.09\00:22:13.29 you're ready to accept that because you've lost your center, 00:22:13.33\00:22:16.20 because you've taken the Jews out of the equation, 00:22:16.23\00:22:18.50 so all of the beauty that they bring is now gone. 00:22:18.53\00:22:21.74 You know, persecution was coming from many sides for 00:22:21.77\00:22:26.68 the Sabbath keeping believer. 00:22:26.71\00:22:29.54 He was receiving, he was not accepted by the Jews who had not 00:22:29.58\00:22:34.22 accepted the Messiah. 00:22:34.25\00:22:35.58 On top of that he's persecuted by the pagan, 00:22:35.62\00:22:40.26 and particularly when the pagan becomes Christian 00:22:40.29\00:22:44.93 and they begin to keep the first day of the week. 00:22:44.96\00:22:47.93 They are now persecuting those who continue 00:22:47.96\00:22:51.67 to keep the Sabbath. 00:22:51.70\00:22:53.03 So they've gotten, they are not accepted on either side. 00:22:53.07\00:22:57.31 They're not accepted by the Jews who have, the ones who have 00:22:57.34\00:23:00.61 rejected the Messiah, and they are not accepted by the pagan. 00:23:00.64\00:23:05.91 So they are now forced into Where are we going to go? 00:23:05.95\00:23:10.75 At least if we go here and begin to keep the first day of the 00:23:10.79\00:23:14.16 week, we'll be accepted somewhere. 00:23:14.19\00:23:16.59 I mean at least the persecution will end here. 00:23:16.62\00:23:21.30 And so they make a natural... 00:23:21.33\00:23:23.93 They're pressed into it. 00:23:23.97\00:23:26.57 And they find justification for it in their minds. 00:23:26.60\00:23:29.54 They'd say, Well, you know, we can be remembering the 00:23:29.57\00:23:32.87 resurrection of Jesus. 00:23:32.91\00:23:35.34 And for awhile they'd try to keep both days. 00:23:35.38\00:23:39.11 And then gradually the new generation comes along, 00:23:39.15\00:23:44.09 and they begin to only keep the first day of the week. 00:23:44.12\00:23:47.69 So we see these people just really between a rock and a hard 00:23:47.72\00:23:54.00 place as far as where they're going to stand with truth. 00:23:54.03\00:23:58.97 And it wasn't overnight. No, oh no. 00:23:59.00\00:24:00.34 It ended over generations. Exactly. 00:24:00.37\00:24:02.84 Each generation weakened. Right. 00:24:02.87\00:24:05.47 Like I said, they were doing both. 00:24:05.51\00:24:06.84 And then which one they enjoyed more, 00:24:06.88\00:24:08.24 and until over a long period, span of time. Yes. 00:24:08.28\00:24:11.61 And, as you mentioned, C. A., I would emphasize here 00:24:11.65\00:24:17.09 that Satan had a plan. 00:24:17.12\00:24:18.45 That Satan had a plan to uproot anything he bragged Jewish 00:24:18.49\00:24:19.82 from the Biblical teaching. 00:24:24.46\00:24:26.49 And when I look at our fundamental beliefs, you know, 00:24:26.53\00:24:32.03 when we talk about pre-Advent Judgment, you know, 00:24:32.07\00:24:36.27 when we talk about the cleansing of the heavenly Sanctuary. 00:24:36.30\00:24:42.01 If you try to understand them based on the Bible, you know, 00:24:42.04\00:24:49.18 this becomes a very significant issue; how to prove it 00:24:49.22\00:24:54.76 Biblically, you know. 00:24:54.79\00:24:56.12 Because if we want to preach the three angels' message 00:24:56.16\00:24:58.93 we can't take the Spirit of Prophecy books and go out to the 00:24:58.96\00:25:05.27 world and say, This is the Spirit of Prophecy book; accept. 00:25:05.30\00:25:09.30 The Bible is the foundation, and Ellen White based 00:25:09.34\00:25:15.98 her teaching on it. 00:25:16.01\00:25:18.05 She didn't invent any new teaching. It was based... 00:25:18.08\00:25:22.05 She was a lesser light to show to the bigger light. 00:25:22.08\00:25:25.42 So we needed to go to the bigger light. 00:25:25.45\00:25:27.76 But for many Christians, and I keep talking to many of them, 00:25:27.79\00:25:31.93 even to many Messianic's who went through the Evangelical 00:25:31.96\00:25:37.17 training, and this is so non-Jewish. 00:25:37.20\00:25:41.70 For example, the scapegoat, well, to be more precise, 00:25:41.74\00:25:48.78 in Hebrew the goat for Azazel, because the scapegoat is 00:25:48.81\00:25:53.42 kind of very English... 00:25:53.45\00:25:55.42 I don't know, there's no such in English word, scape, 00:25:55.45\00:25:59.69 except the part of this idiom. 00:25:59.72\00:26:02.02 So you take this, all Christians believe it's Jesus. 00:26:02.06\00:26:07.33 But, you know, Jewish people all the time believed that 00:26:07.36\00:26:12.83 scapegoat represents the Satan. 00:26:12.87\00:26:15.77 And so we have this Jewish teaching in it. 00:26:15.80\00:26:21.14 We're just sometimes embarrassed to recognize it, 00:26:21.18\00:26:25.88 or the idea of the judgment. 00:26:25.91\00:26:30.69 On that scapegoat, in Israel if someone wants to tell you to 00:26:30.72\00:26:33.86 go to hell, they tell you to go to Azazel. Ha! 00:26:33.89\00:26:38.29 Yeah! You'll learn very quickly that there's nothing that the 00:26:38.33\00:26:41.63 Bible doesn't talk about the scapegoat. 00:26:41.66\00:26:44.23 In fact, this is a wrong translation, which was grafted 00:26:44.27\00:26:49.20 in because of the Septuagint translation 00:26:49.24\00:26:52.34 of the Torah into Greek. 00:26:52.37\00:26:54.18 So to defend our doctrines as a Seventh-day Adventist, 00:26:54.21\00:26:59.61 if we throw out Hebrewaic thinking, we'll cut the branch 00:26:59.65\00:27:05.05 on which we're sitting. 00:27:05.09\00:27:06.42 Well, you know, following that up Sasha, I have found my 00:27:06.45\00:27:12.39 understanding of the Scripture since I've been involved in 00:27:12.43\00:27:18.33 Jewish ministry has greatly deepened. 00:27:18.37\00:27:21.24 And our teachings as a church have much deeper 00:27:21.27\00:27:27.94 roots than just surface. And we cannot... 00:27:27.98\00:27:34.02 Why we have so many denominations, and all of that, 00:27:34.05\00:27:37.39 is because we have varied. 00:27:37.42\00:27:39.72 You know you mentioned the core, C. A. 00:27:39.75\00:27:42.26 When we fully understand the full context of the Biblical 00:27:42.29\00:27:49.20 bases, and where it came from, who were the writers, 00:27:49.23\00:27:54.00 and specifically, who were they for? 00:27:54.04\00:27:56.30 You know, yes, the word of God is for all of God's people, 00:27:56.34\00:28:00.14 but where did it come from? 00:28:00.18\00:28:02.28 When we forget where it comes from, and the context, 00:28:02.31\00:28:06.51 where it comes from, then we have all kinds of errors 00:28:06.55\00:28:09.72 in every direction. 00:28:09.75\00:28:11.09 And that's the confusion of the second angel's message 00:28:11.12\00:28:14.66 of Revelation: Babylon, the confused religious world. 00:28:14.69\00:28:18.76 Come out of it! And this is where we need to take a stronger 00:28:18.79\00:28:24.47 look; not to be looking for, What do Christians say? 00:28:24.50\00:28:28.60 What do Christian fathers say? 00:28:28.64\00:28:30.87 What do denominations and scholars say? 00:28:30.91\00:28:33.54 And all of them have their place, but what comes first? 00:28:33.58\00:28:38.48 What does the word of God say? and where did it come from? 00:28:38.51\00:28:41.35 and on what basis? 00:28:41.38\00:28:43.22 And let's not forget those roots. 00:28:43.25\00:28:45.75 We forget the roots, and then all the rest of the tree 00:28:45.79\00:28:50.09 is contaminated. Precisely, precisely. 00:28:50.13\00:28:51.93 And if I could just then... 00:28:51.96\00:28:53.29 Now where is that taking us today? 00:28:53.33\00:28:54.66 What is the outcome of this, from 2,000 years ago really, 00:28:54.70\00:28:58.90 you know, first, second century? 00:28:58.93\00:29:00.84 We're living it now. 00:29:00.87\00:29:02.57 The persecutions that are still happening now are the 00:29:02.60\00:29:05.14 anti-Semitism that is still happening now. 00:29:05.17\00:29:07.48 I mean the persecution to the Holocaust. 00:29:07.51\00:29:09.51 So a lot of those roots were right from this teaching: 00:29:09.54\00:29:12.58 replacement theology, ah Luther. 00:29:12.61\00:29:15.38 Luther said some horrible things. 00:29:15.42\00:29:17.05 He wrote some pamphlets that we should take the Jewish books 00:29:17.09\00:29:20.22 and burn them; that we should take the Jewish people 00:29:20.26\00:29:22.62 and gather them together. 00:29:22.66\00:29:24.23 We should put them into forced labor, and we should kill them. 00:29:24.26\00:29:27.73 And step by step it's exactly what the Nazi's did. 00:29:27.76\00:29:30.97 Following now, Luther wrote a lot of greats things, too, 00:29:31.00\00:29:33.70 and God used him in a lot of great ways. 00:29:33.74\00:29:35.34 I think he had maybe too much beer, or got a little senile 00:29:35.37\00:29:38.17 there at the end, and he wrote some horrible, horrible things. 00:29:38.21\00:29:41.11 He had a bad day I guess. 00:29:41.14\00:29:42.48 A bad day, yeah! Yeah! 00:29:42.51\00:29:43.85 And it was used, but it came from this. 00:29:43.88\00:29:46.48 And initially Luther was actually 00:29:46.51\00:29:48.05 very favorable to the Jews. 00:29:48.08\00:29:49.42 But when they didn't meet his prophetic desire for what he was 00:29:49.45\00:29:54.19 wanting them to do, you know, convert enmass, 00:29:54.22\00:29:55.96 he then turned on them. Yeah. 00:29:55.99\00:29:58.16 And so we see today a lot of anti-Semitism, 00:29:58.19\00:30:00.70 both within Christianity; there's boycotts, 00:30:00.73\00:30:04.30 and divestments going on by Christian 00:30:04.33\00:30:06.94 denominations against Israel. 00:30:06.97\00:30:08.87 The new anti-Semitism is anti-Israelism. Yeah. 00:30:08.90\00:30:11.71 And a clear example in the world, too. 00:30:11.74\00:30:15.84 Just this week a horrible, horrible tragedy 00:30:15.88\00:30:19.11 took place in France. 00:30:19.15\00:30:20.48 This, this slaughtering. 00:30:20.52\00:30:22.15 This guy going into this magazine 00:30:22.18\00:30:25.39 and killing tons of people. 00:30:25.42\00:30:27.36 It's been in the news. 00:30:27.39\00:30:28.72 And over and over again they're talking about it. 00:30:28.76\00:30:30.09 And there's a great outcry against it, and should be. 00:30:30.13\00:30:32.76 Well, just a few weeks prior to this in Jerusalem another bunch 00:30:32.79\00:30:37.93 of guys went into a synagogue and slaughtered, hacked off, 00:30:37.97\00:30:42.20 and hacked people praying. 00:30:42.24\00:30:44.54 Three American Rabbi's, and a fourth Rabbi were slaughtered 00:30:44.57\00:30:49.64 there while they're praying; blood over the books, 00:30:49.68\00:30:52.35 and over their prayer shawls. 00:30:52.38\00:30:53.72 And a Jewish police officer was slaughtered in that. 00:30:53.75\00:30:57.29 It was in the news for about a day. 00:30:57.32\00:30:59.09 And there were even people who praised the 00:30:59.12\00:31:01.36 the Jordan Prime Minister. 00:31:01.39\00:31:04.03 Jordan has a peace accord with Israel. 00:31:04.06\00:31:06.33 Of all nations, the Jordan Prime Minister came up the next day 00:31:06.36\00:31:08.86 praising the terrorists. 00:31:08.90\00:31:10.23 Instead of there being a world outcry against it, it was, 00:31:10.27\00:31:14.54 Well, it was the Jews. 00:31:14.57\00:31:15.90 And so the, you know, Okay, let's... 00:31:15.94\00:31:17.27 That they should have been killed instead of a world 00:31:17.31\00:31:18.64 out-cry against atrocity. 00:31:18.67\00:31:20.48 CNN on their broadcast it had... 00:31:20.51\00:31:25.61 They got it backwards. 00:31:27.42\00:31:28.75 They called it a mosque. Yeh. 00:31:28.78\00:31:30.29 A slaughter happened at a Mosque. 00:31:30.32\00:31:32.39 And said the Jews went into the mosque. 00:31:32.42\00:31:33.76 Yeah, and it wasn't a mosque, it was a synagogue. 00:31:33.79\00:31:35.32 And in one line it said, Four Israeli's killed, 00:31:35.36\00:31:38.63 and two Palestinians killed, as if it was, you know, 00:31:38.66\00:31:40.86 some kind of fight going on. Right. 00:31:40.90\00:31:42.30 You know, it didn't call it like a terrorist type of thing. 00:31:42.33\00:31:44.83 And saw the President. 00:31:44.87\00:31:47.04 The President of the United States said, I call upon both 00:31:47.07\00:31:50.21 sides to exercise restraint. 00:31:50.24\00:31:52.64 No one's calling for France to exercise restraint right now. 00:31:52.67\00:31:55.71 Catch those terrorists and bring them to justice. Yeah. 00:31:55.74\00:31:58.51 You know, so there's this unequal standards when it 00:31:58.55\00:32:03.08 comes to Israel, and when it comes to the Jewish people. 00:32:03.12\00:32:05.22 Well, there's no question that that's true. 00:32:05.25\00:32:07.06 And we have a history to prove that that's true. 00:32:07.09\00:32:09.72 What we are looking at today though is how can we 00:32:09.76\00:32:14.36 reach these people? 00:32:14.40\00:32:15.73 And this has been the goal of 3ABN. 00:32:15.76\00:32:18.13 We've made four trips there, and the primary reason for that is 00:32:18.17\00:32:22.80 building a base where we can reach out. 00:32:22.84\00:32:25.71 We have applied for a license to be on cable in all of Israel. 00:32:25.74\00:32:32.65 Because being on cable in Israel, which is unbelievably 00:32:32.68\00:32:37.45 expensive, is as expensive, and we think somebody is trying to 00:32:37.49\00:32:42.16 price us out of it, but it's as expensive as if we went on a 00:32:42.19\00:32:45.69 full satellite that would be covering many, many nations. 00:32:45.73\00:32:49.76 So we are now, we've made contact with the president of a 00:32:49.80\00:32:55.74 company to represent us there. 00:32:55.77\00:32:57.54 I've met with him, and we're still praying, have a prayer go 00:32:57.57\00:33:02.38 that this could be. 00:33:02.41\00:33:03.75 Because we are told, and you've sent me statements, 00:33:03.78\00:33:07.62 I've received statements from you, Ralph, and I've found some 00:33:07.65\00:33:11.22 on my own in the Spirit of Prophecy where we are told 00:33:11.25\00:33:14.82 that there's going to be as many people, many Jewish people 00:33:14.86\00:33:20.23 converted in a day as there were at Pentecost. 00:33:20.26\00:33:23.40 Now I read that last night, in the beginning of our 00:33:23.43\00:33:26.94 session last night. 00:33:26.97\00:33:28.47 And that means as many people in a day 00:33:28.50\00:33:32.84 as there were at Pentecost. 00:33:32.87\00:33:34.61 Jewish people. It's not talking about at large. 00:33:34.64\00:33:38.91 We're already baptizing a lot more than that worldwide, 00:33:38.95\00:33:43.95 but it means specifically Jewish people. 00:33:43.99\00:33:47.06 How are they going to be reached? 00:33:47.09\00:33:49.22 You see, we believe that through media you're going to get 00:33:49.26\00:33:53.66 behind the closed door. 00:33:53.70\00:33:55.03 We find this over and over again throughout the Middle East. 00:33:55.06\00:33:58.63 People who are Muslim, people who are Jews, people who have no 00:33:58.67\00:34:03.71 religion whatsoever, Arab Christians, 00:34:03.74\00:34:06.78 they are coming and finding the Seventh-day Adventist Church 00:34:06.81\00:34:12.28 from watching 3ABN. 00:34:12.31\00:34:14.02 And it's in English right now. 00:34:14.05\00:34:15.98 Now when we go, if we go into Israel we're hoping it'll be in 00:34:16.02\00:34:21.06 English, but we want Hebrew byline down below, so that those 00:34:21.09\00:34:28.16 who don't understand English can read it. 00:34:28.20\00:34:30.97 We had an individual, a good friend of mine, 00:34:31.00\00:34:34.87 was visiting with one of the leading Protestants 00:34:34.90\00:34:38.31 in the United States. 00:34:38.34\00:34:39.67 A man that has been strongly involved with the 00:34:39.71\00:34:41.84 Billy Graham Association, and setting up their crusades. 00:34:41.88\00:34:44.91 And he said to him, he said to my friend, We believe that the 00:34:44.95\00:34:51.52 Seventh-day Adventists are the ones to take 00:34:51.55\00:34:55.32 the Messiah to the Jews. 00:34:55.36\00:34:57.49 He said, Let me tell you why I believe that. 00:34:57.53\00:34:59.69 He said, I am a Sunday keeping, pork eating Baptist. 00:34:59.73\00:35:03.90 He said, You are a Sabbath keeping, Leviticus following 00:35:03.93\00:35:09.70 Seventh-day Adventist. 00:35:09.74\00:35:11.21 Who has got a better opportunity to reach the Jewish mind 00:35:11.24\00:35:17.08 than a Seventh-day Adventist? 00:35:17.11\00:35:18.65 He said, I'm not the only one that believes this. 00:35:18.68\00:35:20.52 We have talked about this in wide circles that this is 00:35:20.55\00:35:25.32 something the Seventh-day Adventist's can do 00:35:25.35\00:35:27.82 better than we can do. 00:35:27.86\00:35:29.19 You know, that, I believe, is one of the things God has called 00:35:29.22\00:35:33.29 us, with the three angels' message is to reach out to the 00:35:33.33\00:35:37.67 Jewish people; not just a few here and there, 00:35:37.70\00:35:40.54 but to see great things happen. 00:35:40.57\00:35:43.07 And again, I'm talking for 3ABN, because we are one of the ways 00:35:43.10\00:35:48.98 to get behind those closed doors. 00:35:49.01\00:35:51.31 See we get letters all the time, from people all over the world, 00:35:51.35\00:35:56.38 that believe everything Seventh-day Adventists believe. 00:35:56.42\00:35:59.45 There's just no Seventh-day Adventist church near them. 00:35:59.49\00:36:01.89 And they will send support, a financial support. 00:36:01.92\00:36:07.00 I had a man tell me that recently. 00:36:07.03\00:36:09.90 He said, There is not a Seventh-day Adventist church 00:36:09.93\00:36:12.63 within sixty miles of where I live. 00:36:12.67\00:36:15.00 He says, I'm nearly seventy years old. 00:36:15.04\00:36:17.97 I was Christened in the church down the street. 00:36:18.01\00:36:22.14 I will probably be buried in the church down the street. 00:36:22.18\00:36:25.01 But I believe everything that Seventh-day Adventists teach. 00:36:25.05\00:36:28.82 The people in my church know it. 00:36:28.85\00:36:31.32 And he said, They know that I keep the Sabbath. 00:36:31.35\00:36:34.19 They know, and he went down the line. 00:36:34.22\00:36:36.86 He said, I guess you could call me a closet Adventist, 00:36:36.89\00:36:40.10 but I believe the message. 00:36:40.13\00:36:42.76 Folks, there are millions around the world that have been 00:36:42.80\00:36:47.60 watching the television, listening to the radio, 00:36:47.64\00:36:50.91 and that believe this message. 00:36:50.94\00:36:53.14 One of these days they're going to come out. 00:36:53.17\00:36:56.14 And I believe this is especially true with the Jewish people. 00:36:56.18\00:36:59.38 Jesus said, You will not see me anymore until you say, 00:36:59.41\00:37:02.68 Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord. Yeah. 00:37:02.72\00:37:05.12 He didn't say, You won't see Me anymore; 00:37:05.15\00:37:06.49 I'm done with you guys. 00:37:06.52\00:37:07.86 I'm cleaning My hands. 00:37:07.89\00:37:09.22 But there will be a coming back. 00:37:09.26\00:37:11.59 Until the time of the Gentiles is fulfilled, right? Yeah. 00:37:11.63\00:37:15.40 And then it will come back to the Jewish people. 00:37:15.43\00:37:17.03 And I believe the time of the Gentiles; going to the fullness 00:37:17.07\00:37:19.73 of the Gentiles; going to the world, like you say. 00:37:19.77\00:37:21.60 It's being preached around the world through personal people, 00:37:21.64\00:37:24.84 and through satellite, and through television, 00:37:24.87\00:37:26.84 and in various means. 00:37:26.88\00:37:28.21 The gospel is going to the world. 00:37:28.24\00:37:29.58 And so now it needs to come back to the Jewish people. 00:37:29.61\00:37:32.18 Now we don't have the same view of this that 00:37:32.21\00:37:35.85 the evangelicals have. 00:37:35.88\00:37:37.22 What is their view? 00:37:37.25\00:37:38.92 Well, the evangelical view that all the Jewish people have to go 00:37:38.95\00:37:43.02 to Israel, and come to Israel in order for the Messiah to come. 00:37:43.06\00:37:46.33 Actually they're habod kinds of things: that all the Jewish 00:37:46.36\00:37:48.60 people have to keep at least the Sabbath together, 00:37:48.63\00:37:51.10 or pray certain prayers together, 00:37:51.13\00:37:52.73 and then the Micaiah will come; 00:37:52.77\00:37:55.07 the Messiah will come. 00:37:55.10\00:37:56.44 But every opportunity has to go to all the world. 00:37:56.47\00:38:00.14 And people will come in. 00:38:00.18\00:38:01.64 People will be saved. 00:38:01.68\00:38:03.01 So what we believe is that they are grated onto the branch. 00:38:03.04\00:38:06.41 Together; everyone together. Right. 00:38:06.45\00:38:08.48 Not two separate houses, not two separate trees; one house. 00:38:08.52\00:38:11.19 The wall of separation that was built up in the second century, 00:38:11.22\00:38:14.09 broken down, united together. 00:38:14.12\00:38:16.46 And so they must come. 00:38:16.49\00:38:17.83 We've got several groups. 00:38:17.86\00:38:19.39 We've got first those who believe in the 00:38:19.43\00:38:22.76 three angels' message. 00:38:22.80\00:38:24.17 We have people that don't believe in the 00:38:24.20\00:38:26.20 three angel's message that are of all kinds of backgrounds, 00:38:26.23\00:38:30.41 and then we have the Jewish people who don't believe in 00:38:30.44\00:38:33.78 the three angels' message. 00:38:33.81\00:38:35.14 But before the end they are going to all, not all, 00:38:35.18\00:38:39.51 but from each of these groups, the faithful will come to Jesus. 00:38:39.55\00:38:47.09 Is that right? Is that what we believe? Amen. 00:38:47.12\00:38:49.32 Alright. And one of the important things, 00:38:49.36\00:38:51.79 and Jeff has mentioned it, about Luther. 00:38:51.83\00:38:56.00 One of the things, we cannot repeat the mistake 00:38:56.03\00:38:59.97 which was done, and it's impatience. 00:39:00.00\00:39:02.90 You see, in the very beginning, if you look, Luther studied 00:39:02.94\00:39:08.48 Hebrew with Rabbi's. 00:39:08.51\00:39:10.31 This is how we have the Bible; the first 00:39:10.35\00:39:13.52 translation of the Bible. 00:39:13.55\00:39:15.02 You know, Christianity... 00:39:15.05\00:39:17.35 If it wasn't for Jews who preserved the Bible text... 00:39:17.39\00:39:21.92 In fact, when you look at the years, the first Hebrew printed 00:39:21.96\00:39:26.29 Bible was done exactly sometime in 1525. 00:39:26.33\00:39:31.00 That's exactly when Luther was working on the translation of 00:39:31.03\00:39:35.47 the Bible in German. 00:39:35.50\00:39:36.84 So, but then he thought, Okay, I'm going to 00:39:36.87\00:39:39.97 convert them right away. 00:39:40.01\00:39:41.34 And this is where the problem is. 00:39:41.38\00:39:43.51 We expect quick results, okay? 00:39:43.55\00:39:46.61 Kind of a get rich quick scheme. 00:39:46.65\00:39:49.35 It's not going to work. 00:39:49.38\00:39:51.05 In my work I know it takes sometimes a year, 00:39:51.09\00:39:56.52 it takes sometimes a couple years, three years, four years, 00:39:56.56\00:40:00.86 for the Holy Spirit to work on the heart of the people so that 00:40:00.90\00:40:05.57 the things we believe would sink in. 00:40:05.60\00:40:10.01 And so it was interesting in the history of the Lutheran 00:40:10.04\00:40:13.68 church; back in 1876 a group of Rabbi's met with Lutheran 00:40:13.71\00:40:21.02 Bishops in Germany, and asked them to accept them into 00:40:21.05\00:40:27.46 the Lutheran church. 00:40:27.49\00:40:28.82 It was reformed Rabbi's. 00:40:28.86\00:40:30.29 That's what Luther wanted what, 300 years before. 00:40:30.33\00:40:35.33 And you know what the Lutheran churches said? 00:40:35.36\00:40:37.73 They said no. So we cannot make this mistake today. 00:40:37.77\00:40:44.74 You know, we cannot say... 00:40:44.77\00:40:46.68 This is the worst thing I see among many people, 00:40:46.71\00:40:50.81 many sincere Christians, and Adventists, 00:40:50.85\00:40:53.52 or Jews do not accept. 00:40:53.55\00:40:56.35 You know, that's what is often the biggest hurdle. 00:40:56.38\00:41:01.12 People say, you know, Why should we preach? 00:41:01.16\00:41:03.99 They won't accept. Let us not repeat what happened in history. 00:41:04.03\00:41:09.46 You know, we find this though with people of all beliefs. 00:41:09.50\00:41:14.07 I was in Georgia at a church not long ago, and a man came up 00:41:14.10\00:41:17.41 to me and he said, I watched 3ABN for five years. 00:41:17.44\00:41:21.24 He sat at a notebook. 00:41:21.28\00:41:22.61 He said, I wrote down every text that Kenneth Cox, 00:41:22.64\00:41:26.61 and he went down the line: Doug Batchelor, 00:41:26.65\00:41:29.75 and then Lyle Albrecht. 00:41:29.78\00:41:32.59 And he named them all. 00:41:32.62\00:41:34.32 He said, I wrote down every text that they gave, and looked them 00:41:34.36\00:41:38.63 up to prove them wrong. 00:41:38.66\00:41:40.00 He said, I did this for five years. 00:41:40.03\00:41:42.36 And finally, he said, I told my wife, I can't prove them wrong. 00:41:42.40\00:41:46.74 We've got to join them. 00:41:46.77\00:41:48.10 And he said, I walked into the Seventh-day Adventist church, 00:41:48.14\00:41:51.57 and I became a member. 00:41:51.61\00:41:52.94 It takes time, sometimes, for people to be able 00:41:52.97\00:41:58.15 to make this decision. 00:41:58.18\00:41:59.51 Especially when there's this 2,000 years of built up 00:41:59.55\00:42:02.02 division, and hurt, and persecution, and fear. 00:42:02.05\00:42:07.72 And that's why the congregations that we have that have helped 00:42:07.76\00:42:10.59 break down the prejudice, and break down those fears, 00:42:10.63\00:42:12.86 making a comfortable setting where they can come in and hear, 00:42:12.89\00:42:16.00 and hear the message in a context and culture that 00:42:16.03\00:42:19.17 is acceptable to them. 00:42:19.20\00:42:20.54 Right. And prejudice, by the way, is not just one sided. 00:42:20.57\00:42:24.31 No, right. You find it on both sides. 00:42:24.34\00:42:26.74 But you've made a key statement. 00:42:26.78\00:42:29.54 Where they can come in to a culture that is much like 00:42:29.58\00:42:33.72 theirs, and there learn about Yeshua. 00:42:33.75\00:42:37.25 Which is why this initiative of getting on cable in Israel 00:42:37.29\00:42:41.36 is such, to my mind, and I know to yours also, Jim, 00:42:41.39\00:42:44.69 a high priority for 3ABN. 00:42:44.73\00:42:48.00 Think what would happen if we could get the Gospel 00:42:48.03\00:42:51.17 in Israel on a 24/7 basis. 00:42:51.20\00:42:54.10 We know now that there are people in Islamic countries 00:42:54.14\00:43:00.14 who are keeping the Sabbath, and their lifeline is 3ABN. 00:43:00.18\00:43:03.75 That's right. In the palaces of certain countries 00:43:03.78\00:43:07.68 3ABN is getting in there, and Bibles are getting in there. 00:43:07.72\00:43:10.42 That can happen, and will happen, I think, 00:43:10.45\00:43:13.52 when the Gospel gets in Israel. 00:43:13.56\00:43:15.56 This is the last frontier. 00:43:15.59\00:43:18.26 You've got, and I'm going to get on my horse in second, 00:43:18.29\00:43:20.30 and I'll be off. I'm with you. 00:43:20.33\00:43:21.73 You've got an evangelical mindset that says we've got to 00:43:21.76\00:43:24.70 rebuild the temple on the temple mount. 00:43:24.73\00:43:26.60 You know that they're hyper focused on that, 00:43:26.63\00:43:29.07 and if someone tried to tear down the Dome of the Rock now, 00:43:29.10\00:43:33.34 and put something there, you'd have World War 3. 00:43:33.38\00:43:35.54 They don't understand that the action is not on the 00:43:35.58\00:43:39.31 Temple Mound, the action is in the temple in heaven. 00:43:39.35\00:43:41.38 That's what Christ is doing now. 00:43:41.42\00:43:42.92 That's where the action is. 00:43:42.95\00:43:44.95 And we understand that because we've got the sanctuary message, 00:43:44.99\00:43:47.99 sanctuary message, you see? 00:43:48.02\00:43:49.56 It is, when you look at the stew, 00:43:49.59\00:43:51.86 that is systematic theology, the stew that is doctrines, 00:43:51.89\00:43:55.56 the one pea that the Adventist Church put in 00:43:55.60\00:43:58.57 that stew is sanctuary. 00:43:58.60\00:44:00.54 And yet it centers and gives us an understanding of everything 00:44:00.57\00:44:05.21 that's going on from creation till the time Christ comes back. 00:44:05.24\00:44:08.98 The sanctuary is so critical, and I think if the Evangelical 00:44:09.01\00:44:12.58 world had the sanctuary, they wouldn't be flying 00:44:12.61\00:44:16.69 off in all directions. 00:44:16.72\00:44:18.05 Because the sanctuary centers you on the work of Christ; 00:44:18.09\00:44:20.59 what He has done, what He is doing now, 00:44:20.62\00:44:22.86 and what He is soon to do. 00:44:22.89\00:44:24.26 In fact the Jewish people, the Jewish leadership missed the 00:44:24.29\00:44:29.06 Messiah because they didn't understand the sanctuary. 00:44:29.10\00:44:32.43 Had they truly understood, they would have seen Him 00:44:32.47\00:44:36.74 as the Lamb of God. 00:44:36.77\00:44:38.11 And we've got to make sure that we, as a church, whatever we do 00:44:38.14\00:44:43.95 that we don't miss the Messiah because we have somehow 00:44:43.98\00:44:50.19 thrown out, or disregarded, or ignored 00:44:50.22\00:44:53.49 the message of the sanctuary. 00:44:53.52\00:44:55.12 Because Christ is still to be found in the sanctuary. 00:44:55.16\00:44:59.29 One of the things which you touched, C. A., is on the focus 00:44:59.33\00:45:05.17 of Evangelicals on the temple. 00:45:05.20\00:45:08.77 And sometimes people tend, because they do not accept 00:45:08.80\00:45:13.48 this, and this is correct that this is not Biblical, 00:45:13.51\00:45:17.88 they tend to go to other direction. 00:45:17.91\00:45:20.18 They become extremely anti-Israel. 00:45:20.22\00:45:24.35 Israel has nothing to do. 00:45:24.39\00:45:26.62 The fact that you can look at what happened in Israel. 00:45:26.65\00:45:31.96 Without Israel we wouldn't have had the Dead Sea Scrolls today. 00:45:31.99\00:45:36.90 Without the Dead Sea Scrolls our understanding of the Bible 00:45:36.93\00:45:43.77 would be much less in the sense that for the entire nineteenth 00:45:43.81\00:45:48.18 century the German liberal theology tore the Bible 00:45:48.21\00:45:52.21 apart left and right. 00:45:52.25\00:45:54.08 And the findings of the Dead Sea Scrolls, and the archeological 00:45:54.12\00:45:58.85 discoveries that were made in Israel, have proven them wrong. 00:45:58.89\00:46:03.99 So we can't throw Israel out completely just because 00:46:04.03\00:46:09.66 the temple will not be rebuilt. 00:46:09.70\00:46:12.13 We have to learn to differentiate because if we 00:46:12.17\00:46:16.40 become very anti-Israeli then we're shooting ourselves 00:46:16.44\00:46:22.04 in the foot, because Jews just will not come to us. 00:46:22.08\00:46:26.35 They will go to every church possible, but not to us. 00:46:26.38\00:46:30.85 You know, Jim, you were mentioning, and C. A. too, 00:46:30.89\00:46:37.19 about how you get in through the media. 00:46:37.23\00:46:42.40 We have something that I think last year we 00:46:42.43\00:46:46.77 talked about it coming. 00:46:46.80\00:46:48.24 Jeff, why don't you tell us more about Shalom Adventure, 00:46:48.27\00:46:52.17 and how this is getting through the internet and reaching out 00:46:52.21\00:46:57.65 and reaching a lot of those people. 00:46:57.68\00:47:00.68 Right. So we have the congregations where they can 00:47:00.72\00:47:02.88 come to, but not everywhere. 00:47:02.92\00:47:04.25 And even then some people aren't ready, 00:47:04.29\00:47:06.19 and won't feel comfortable coming. 00:47:06.22\00:47:07.56 So like the satellite, like television, 00:47:07.59\00:47:10.03 we have the internet, shalom adventure.com, a web site. 00:47:10.06\00:47:15.70 It's a live website. 00:47:15.73\00:47:17.07 It's web magazine, not just a web site. 00:47:17.10\00:47:19.03 Just not a billboard there. 00:47:19.07\00:47:20.54 It changes all of the time. 00:47:20.57\00:47:21.90 Every day there's new articles on there. 00:47:21.94\00:47:25.11 Every time you're refreshed there's new things to see, 00:47:25.14\00:47:28.01 and different stuff that comes up. 00:47:28.04\00:47:29.38 So it's constantly changing. 00:47:29.41\00:47:30.75 There's always stuff to see there. 00:47:30.78\00:47:32.11 The holidays come up and the holy days, and there's articles, 00:47:32.15\00:47:35.75 and videos, and Hebrew lessons. 00:47:35.78\00:47:37.92 People can learn to read Hebrew in just a few weeks. 00:47:37.95\00:47:41.49 Just ten minutes and day; in three weeks they'll 00:47:41.52\00:47:43.32 learn to read Hebrew. 00:47:43.36\00:47:44.69 Sasha is going to be doing a Part 2 on the Hebrew, 00:47:44.73\00:47:47.23 and we'll have more in-depth Hebrew lessons on there. 00:47:47.26\00:47:49.96 Is that a guarantee on that? ten minutes a day? 00:47:50.00\00:47:52.83 I'll hold him to it! Ha! 00:47:52.87\00:47:54.24 Well, at least right now, for those who don't want to study 00:47:54.27\00:48:01.78 Hebrew, we have a very special radio program, which we have 00:48:01.81\00:48:07.72 started in the Portland area. 00:48:07.75\00:48:09.78 It's called, Torah For Today. 00:48:09.82\00:48:12.15 Alright. Okay. Well, by the way, I took first year Greek 00:48:12.19\00:48:16.56 three times, so I am pretty much an expert. 00:48:16.59\00:48:19.59 You know Greek well, huh? 00:48:19.63\00:48:20.96 You just have to start, Jim. 00:48:21.00\00:48:22.33 You just have to start with Hebrew. 00:48:22.36\00:48:23.70 Otherwise, you know, it just proves that you don't 00:48:23.73\00:48:26.70 have Greek thinking. 00:48:26.74\00:48:28.07 So praise the Lord! 00:48:28.10\00:48:29.44 I know first year Greek better than anyone that I know of. 00:48:29.47\00:48:32.24 And with that you talk about Israel, the shalomadventure. com 00:48:32.27\00:48:37.71 website; some of the people have subscribed to it, 00:48:37.75\00:48:40.38 a lot of people have subscribed to it. 00:48:40.42\00:48:41.82 It's from Israel. Even though it's in English. 00:48:41.85\00:48:43.72 We don't have any of the, you know, 00:48:43.75\00:48:45.09 the texts are all in Hebrew. 00:48:45.12\00:48:46.45 So it's in English, so people are reading it in Israel. 00:48:46.49\00:48:48.82 And so the programming; it will be in English. 00:48:48.86\00:48:51.06 It will still be read and watched by 00:48:51.09\00:48:53.93 a lot of people there. 00:48:53.96\00:48:55.30 And if you have any Jewish friends, one of the things that 00:48:55.33\00:48:58.90 you can do is refer them to the Shalom Adventure. 00:48:58.93\00:49:04.17 And because, you know, behind the computer a lot of people 00:49:04.21\00:49:09.74 will look at things that they wouldn't, you know, speaking, 00:49:09.78\00:49:14.42 well bad things, too, but the good things that they can learn 00:49:14.45\00:49:19.95 about the Messiah. 00:49:19.99\00:49:21.32 They can learn about so much that they wouldn't go to a 00:49:21.36\00:49:23.79 church. No, that's right. 00:49:23.83\00:49:25.16 They wouldn't even question it in their surroundings, 00:49:25.19\00:49:28.23 because it's just like some of the Muslim's that 00:49:28.26\00:49:30.70 you were talking about. 00:49:30.73\00:49:32.07 But with a computer they will look in the privacy of their 00:49:32.10\00:49:35.34 own home, their own bedroom, their own computer. 00:49:35.37\00:49:39.27 And look, and the Holy Spirit can convict beyond what any 00:49:39.31\00:49:46.35 of the, Jeff and his congregation, or Sasha, 00:49:46.38\00:49:52.29 or anyone else can say to them. 00:49:52.32\00:49:55.72 They see in private, and sooner or later, and I believe I have 00:49:55.76\00:50:01.93 ran across in Israel, and in other places closet believers. 00:50:01.96\00:50:08.44 Yes. And this is a way we can minister to them, 00:50:08.47\00:50:13.98 and they can work to become believers. Right. 00:50:14.01\00:50:19.48 And this is one of the outreaches of the 00:50:19.51\00:50:22.75 North American Division. 00:50:22.78\00:50:24.49 And we really appreciate Jeff and Barbara and what 00:50:24.52\00:50:27.29 they're doing in that area. 00:50:27.32\00:50:28.82 Wow!
