I'm standing here at the memorial for Tula, 00:00:32.10\00:00:34.73 near the "Tomb of the Unknown Soldier." 00:00:34.73\00:00:37.16 Tula was vital in the role that they played, 00:00:37.16\00:00:40.50 beating the German, defeating the Germans. 00:00:40.50\00:00:43.63 They produced missiles, 00:00:43.63\00:00:44.93 they produced Kalashnikov weapons, 00:00:44.93\00:00:47.40 they trained military men all, 00:00:47.40\00:00:50.36 from all over the country. 00:00:50.36\00:00:53.10 But you know that isn't all that Tula is known for 00:00:53.10\00:00:55.80 and the Tula does. 00:00:55.80\00:00:56.80 I think you'll be surprised today 00:00:56.80\00:00:58.96 to find an exciting story. 00:00:58.96\00:01:01.40 Tula is spreading the gospel all over Russia. 00:01:01.40\00:01:05.20 It is such a wonderful thing, it isn't just about death, 00:01:05.20\00:01:08.40 but it's about eternal life in Jesus Christ. 00:01:08.40\00:01:11.66 I'm standing here 00:01:43.46\00:01:44.50 at the "Tomb of the Unknown Soldier." 00:01:44.50\00:01:45.93 The inscription reads, 00:01:45.93\00:01:47.66 "Your name is unknown, your deeds are known." 00:01:47.66\00:01:50.50 One Russian city has long been known 00:01:58.23\00:02:00.10 as the centre of weapons manufacturing. 00:02:00.10\00:02:02.66 In 1712, Tula was visited by Peter the Great, 00:02:02.66\00:02:06.23 who commissioned the Demidov blacksmiths 00:02:06.23\00:02:08.60 to build the first arms factory in Russia. 00:02:08.60\00:02:11.96 Several decades later, 00:02:11.96\00:02:13.16 Tula was turned by the Demidovs 00:02:13.16\00:02:15.10 into the greatest ironworking centre of Eastern Europe. 00:02:15.10\00:02:19.43 During the Great Patriotic War, 00:02:19.43\00:02:21.50 as many Russians refer to World War II, 00:02:21.50\00:02:24.26 the city was important in the production 00:02:24.26\00:02:26.20 of a vast array of weaponry. 00:02:26.20\00:02:28.70 Tula became the target of a German offensive 00:02:28.70\00:02:30.93 to break Soviet resistance from Moscow 00:02:30.93\00:02:33.23 between October 24 and December 5, 1941. 00:02:33.23\00:02:39.26 The heavily fortified city held out however, 00:02:39.26\00:02:42.03 the Second Panzer Army was stopped near Tula. 00:02:42.03\00:02:45.40 The city secured the southern flank 00:02:45.40\00:02:47.10 during the Soviet defence of Moscow 00:02:47.10\00:02:49.06 and the subsequent counter-offensive. 00:02:49.06\00:02:51.40 Tula was awarded the title, "Hero City" in 1976. 00:02:51.40\00:02:57.60 She is absolutely colossal in size 00:02:57.60\00:02:59.83 that she towers over the entire city, 00:02:59.83\00:03:02.03 over 96 meters high, that's over 300 feet. 00:03:02.03\00:03:06.73 She is beautiful and she was built 00:03:06.73\00:03:08.16 to commemorate World War II and the victory. 00:03:08.16\00:03:12.63 Well, it isn't publicly known 00:03:12.63\00:03:14.10 all weapons manufactured in Tula, 00:03:14.10\00:03:16.70 it is known for the manufacturer 00:03:16.70\00:03:18.40 of the various missiles. 00:03:18.40\00:03:20.23 But it is most famously known for the Kalashnikov rifles. 00:03:20.23\00:03:24.10 Avtomat Kalashnikov designed 00:03:24.10\00:03:25.96 one of the most famous weapons in 1947. 00:03:25.96\00:03:29.20 It's known worldwide as the AK-47. 00:03:29.20\00:03:32.90 There are now some 100 million 00:03:32.90\00:03:35.06 AK-47s in circulation. 00:03:35.06\00:03:37.13 It's pretty amazing to me that here 00:03:46.13\00:03:47.60 we're in the middle of the city that produces 00:03:47.60\00:03:51.00 maybe nuclear weapons, 00:03:51.00\00:03:52.06 I'm not sure but definitely missiles of many kinds 00:03:52.06\00:03:54.50 I'm told, Kalashnikov machine guns, well weaponry. 00:03:54.50\00:03:59.10 It's a training centre for the military 00:03:59.10\00:04:02.26 for the vast Russian armies 00:04:02.26\00:04:05.20 and we've a studio here, how did that happened. 00:04:05.20\00:04:08.10 Well that's an interesting story, 00:04:08.10\00:04:09.90 actually it's a miracle of God really. 00:04:09.90\00:04:14.00 That happened about the time communism was falling apart. 00:04:14.00\00:04:18.33 And first of all, 00:04:18.33\00:04:20.03 the church wanted to establish a school, 00:04:20.03\00:04:23.30 but the city of Tula wouldn't hear up 00:04:23.30\00:04:27.66 having a Christian school in a city 00:04:27.66\00:04:30.80 that is the pride of their military. 00:04:30.80\00:04:33.30 And so they gave a piece of property 00:04:33.30\00:04:35.66 way up north in the little tiny village of Zaoksky. 00:04:35.66\00:04:39.76 But at that time they also decided 00:04:39.76\00:04:41.80 they wanted to see if they can get on the radio. 00:04:41.80\00:04:44.73 And they had a church here 00:04:44.73\00:04:46.43 and they decided to start doing some recordings 00:04:46.43\00:04:49.30 I believe in the church. 00:04:49.30\00:04:51.33 It started right in the church. 00:04:51.33\00:04:52.60 Yes, it started and it was kind of 00:04:52.60\00:04:54.36 a secret operation there 00:04:54.36\00:04:57.00 and those tapes of course would be sent 00:04:57.00\00:05:00.06 to Adventist World Radio 00:05:00.06\00:05:01.60 and we would broadcast it on the shortwave network. 00:05:01.60\00:05:06.20 So tapes would go out of the country 00:05:06.20\00:05:08.10 and then you broadcast back into the country. 00:05:08.10\00:05:09.46 Back into the country, Because it was illegal. 00:05:09.46\00:05:11.10 It was illegal, it couldn't be any broadcast 00:05:11.10\00:05:13.50 on local radio at that time. 00:05:13.50\00:05:15.66 And so it was kind of 00:05:15.66\00:05:16.63 a undercover operation at first. 00:05:16.63\00:05:20.40 foreign language 00:05:20.40\00:05:26.46 Back in Stalin's day, 00:05:47.10\00:05:49.76 he wanted to communicate with his people. 00:05:49.76\00:05:52.20 But he didn't want to give them radio receivers 00:05:52.20\00:05:54.40 where they would, might listen to some broadcast 00:05:54.40\00:05:57.16 from the western world. 00:05:57.16\00:05:59.36 And so he wired homes, and businesses, 00:05:59.36\00:06:02.76 and hotels, and street corners, 00:06:02.76\00:06:05.70 and they put speakers on these corners 00:06:05.70\00:06:08.23 and they would just put a volume button, 00:06:08.23\00:06:10.70 no on and off button, 00:06:10.70\00:06:11.93 just a volume button, you know. 00:06:11.93\00:06:13.96 And that's so they couldn't turn it all the way off. 00:06:13.96\00:06:16.00 Yeah, probably not. 00:06:16.00\00:06:17.60 And then the leadership of the country 00:06:17.60\00:06:20.10 could tell the people whatever they wanted, 00:06:20.10\00:06:22.66 whether it was informational kinds of things, 00:06:22.66\00:06:25.90 or propaganda or whatever it was. 00:06:25.90\00:06:28.43 foreign language 00:06:28.43\00:06:34.46 Now, I don't know a lot of the details 00:06:54.86\00:06:57.10 about the formation of this station. 00:06:57.10\00:06:59.90 But there is a man here one of our producers, 00:06:59.90\00:07:04.00 very Russian looking person, his name is Nikolai. 00:07:04.00\00:07:08.53 And Russian name. 00:07:08.53\00:07:09.63 Yeah, that's right and he has worked here for 18 years 00:07:09.63\00:07:13.53 and he could tell us a lot more details about this all. 00:07:13.53\00:07:15.80 I've got to meet him. 00:07:15.80\00:07:16.86 Yeah let's go, let's go talk to him as well, yeah. 00:07:16.86\00:07:20.86 Nikolai, Ben tells me that you are really 00:07:20.86\00:07:23.13 the patriarch of this ministry. 00:07:23.13\00:07:25.00 You've been here a long time. 00:07:25.00\00:07:26.66 Share with me, why do they call you the patriarch? 00:07:26.66\00:07:29.40 foreign language 00:07:29.40\00:07:32.46 This happened a long time ago. 00:07:32.46\00:07:35.63 This happened in 1990, 00:07:35.63\00:07:37.56 Brother Butyl Kolkov met me at church 00:07:37.56\00:07:40.73 and invited me to work with Voice of the Hope. 00:07:40.73\00:07:43.36 During this mission it was around summer time in 1990 00:07:43.36\00:07:47.23 and what's interesting is that Peter later said, 00:07:47.23\00:07:50.53 I didn't believe that you would come to us. 00:07:50.53\00:07:53.56 I'm sure he said this because 00:07:53.56\00:07:55.00 I was not attending church during that time. 00:07:55.00\00:07:56.93 foreign language 00:07:56.93\00:08:02.13 You now, this is not unusual for Adventist World Radio 00:08:02.13\00:08:06.43 for producers to actually become 00:08:06.43\00:08:10.23 believers by reading the scripts. 00:08:10.23\00:08:13.46 I'm one of the people who came to Christ 00:08:13.46\00:08:15.23 because of the radio. 00:08:15.23\00:08:16.36 I first came to church 00:08:16.36\00:08:17.73 because of the Spirit of the God calling me 00:08:17.73\00:08:19.66 and my heart led to believe 00:08:19.66\00:08:21.23 after apprehending the word of God. 00:08:21.23\00:08:23.53 Would it be appropriate to say, 00:08:23.53\00:08:25.00 because you've been involved in the work of AWR 00:08:25.00\00:08:27.60 since the beginning here in Russia. 00:08:27.60\00:08:29.93 Is it appropriate to say that, 00:08:29.93\00:08:31.90 AWR has made a huge impact in Russia? 00:08:31.90\00:08:35.33 foreing language 00:08:35.33\00:08:41.20 I travelled alone down Central Russia 00:08:47.70\00:08:49.63 and made an appraisal. 00:08:49.63\00:08:51.76 Ten percent of the residents knew about Voice of the Hope. 00:08:51.76\00:08:56.06 And were listening to out station. 00:08:56.06\00:09:00.06 According to the letters and comments that we get, 00:09:00.06\00:09:02.86 we believe that the first 10 percent 00:09:02.86\00:09:04.56 of the people are listening and still know 00:09:04.56\00:09:06.83 about the Voice of the Hope. Thank God. 00:09:06.83\00:09:09.13 We calculated 10 million potential listeners 00:09:09.13\00:09:12.00 and what's interesting is that the Voice of the Hope 00:09:12.00\00:09:14.33 was leading in all radio stations in Russia. 00:09:14.33\00:09:16.90 foreign language 00:09:16.90\00:09:24.23 You're saying we're the leaders 00:09:24.23\00:09:26.06 in radio broadcasting. 00:09:26.06\00:09:30.46 Our radio station was leading in all of Russia. 00:09:30.46\00:09:33.26 We had the most listeners, 00:09:33.26\00:09:34.70 we had the most interesting programming 00:09:34.70\00:09:36.80 and we received the most letters. 00:09:36.80\00:09:38.43 foreign language 00:09:38.43\00:09:41.96 We've the small profile 00:09:41.96\00:09:43.06 compared to Orthodox and Baptist. 00:09:43.06\00:09:45.43 But with little power we managed to accomplish 00:09:45.43\00:09:47.66 this graceful thing. 00:09:47.66\00:09:48.80 foreign language 00:09:48.80\00:09:51.43 Is that the case still today? 00:09:51.43\00:09:54.56 During the small matter of time 00:09:54.56\00:09:55.90 when we didn't have the radio, 00:09:55.90\00:09:57.70 people were still sending letters 00:09:57.70\00:09:59.16 about our programming. 00:09:59.16\00:10:00.60 Later we came back and people were happy 00:10:00.60\00:10:02.83 to begin listening to our station once again. 00:10:02.83\00:10:05.00 foreign language 00:10:05.00\00:10:07.50 For decades Tula has been a huge military city, 00:10:08.53\00:10:12.03 but by the power of God, 00:10:12.03\00:10:14.10 it is now reaching all the former USSR 00:10:14.10\00:10:17.33 with the gospel of Jesus Christ. 00:10:17.33\00:10:19.86 Stay tune, we'll be right back 00:10:19.86\00:10:21.56 for the rest of story. 00:10:21.56\00:10:24.00 Here is another story of hope from Adventist World Radio. 00:10:24.00\00:10:28.53 Kalu Ram was a poor field laborer 00:10:28.53\00:10:30.76 near Gujarat in India. 00:10:30.76\00:10:32.60 Finding his work tedious, Kalu, purchased a small radio 00:10:32.60\00:10:36.10 to relieve the boredom. 00:10:36.10\00:10:37.70 One day he came across a program 00:10:37.70\00:10:39.40 talking about Jesus, it was from Adventist World Radio. 00:10:39.40\00:10:43.20 After listening for few days, 00:10:43.20\00:10:44.93 Kalu, looked for a pastor 00:10:44.93\00:10:46.33 who could tell him more about Christ. 00:10:46.33\00:10:48.66 Soon convinced of the Christian truth, 00:10:48.66\00:10:50.96 Kalu, was baptized and became an outreach leader 00:10:50.96\00:10:54.10 in his hometown and the surrounding area. 00:10:54.10\00:10:57.00 Witnessing in predominantly Hindu towns 00:10:57.00\00:10:59.23 is not always safe and Kalu was once attacked 00:10:59.23\00:11:02.23 when approaching a town to preach. 00:11:02.23\00:11:04.56 However through the efforts of Kalu, 00:11:04.56\00:11:06.76 and the volunteers he has trained, 00:11:06.76\00:11:08.60 nearly 1000 people have accepted Christ. 00:11:08.60\00:11:13.10 Adventist World Radio shares the Hope of Christ 00:11:13.10\00:11:16.73 with millions of people everyday. 00:11:16.73\00:11:19.36 For more information visit awr.org. Yes, AWR is your mission radio, 00:12:07.60\00:12:10.90 no walls and no border, 00:12:10.90\00:12:12.56 for AWR that means change lives 00:12:12.56\00:12:14.56 and change heart's around the world, 00:12:14.56\00:12:16.40 because God is using the airwaves of AWR 00:12:16.40\00:12:19.86 to reach people everywhere. 00:12:19.86\00:12:21.63 Nikolai, you've seen this ministry grow. 00:12:34.30\00:12:36.46 Can you share a little bit of how you've seen it grow? 00:12:36.46\00:12:39.60 Everything started from having very little. 00:12:39.60\00:12:42.26 We started getting together at Butyl Kolkov's house 00:12:42.26\00:12:45.13 and there we established 00:12:45.13\00:12:46.10 the first radio programming station. 00:12:46.10\00:12:48.50 His house is located not far from Voice of Hope. 00:12:48.50\00:12:51.86 And now how many people are at the studio? 00:12:51.86\00:12:55.30 There are lot of people working in the studio, 00:12:55.30\00:12:57.50 but the radio programming has only three people. 00:12:57.50\00:12:59.90 foreign language 00:12:59.90\00:13:03.66 We had a small group of co-workers, 00:13:03.66\00:13:05.70 so we had to understand each other quickly. 00:13:05.70\00:13:07.96 Our very first recording was very interesting, 00:13:07.96\00:13:10.50 I came and sat down at Sirakov radio, 00:13:10.50\00:13:13.06 after I started reading the text, 00:13:13.06\00:13:14.66 I looked underneath my hands 00:13:14.66\00:13:16.30 and they were forming a puddle 00:13:16.30\00:13:17.76 because of the stress. 00:13:17.76\00:13:19.30 foreign language 00:13:19.30\00:13:24.20 We were also stressed over the first incoming letters. 00:13:24.20\00:13:27.10 foreign language 00:13:27.10\00:13:34.93 We didn't expect to receive much, 00:13:34.93\00:13:36.96 but when we opened the box out came hundreds of letters 00:13:36.96\00:13:39.90 just from the first radio programming that we had. 00:13:39.90\00:13:42.40 foreign language 00:13:42.40\00:13:47.10 Now was this, they are all during Communist time 00:13:47.10\00:13:50.70 or had it changed already. 00:13:50.70\00:13:52.76 foreign language 00:13:52.76\00:13:58.86 No, this was the period of the Soviet Union. 00:14:00.20\00:14:03.00 This was the fall of Gorbachev. 00:14:03.00\00:14:04.96 We were finally able to have free radio, 00:14:04.96\00:14:07.83 but we still had problems with understanding. 00:14:07.83\00:14:10.36 People getting in our way. 00:14:10.36\00:14:11.83 These were organizations that put us into tight spots. 00:14:11.83\00:14:14.96 foreign language 00:14:14.96\00:14:21.13 Our programming was around 20 minutes. 00:14:21.13\00:14:23.30 We divided it into two sections. 00:14:23.30\00:14:25.76 Peter read the first spiritual part 00:14:25.76\00:14:28.00 and the other half I spoke in relation 00:14:28.00\00:14:29.80 with the teens and kids. 00:14:29.80\00:14:31.56 But they were all debates relating to spiritual terms. 00:14:31.56\00:14:36.53 foreign language 00:14:36.53\00:14:42.66 foreign language 00:14:55.93\00:14:59.26 In the beginning, I was the speaker 00:14:59.26\00:15:00.86 and a principal of the school. 00:15:00.86\00:15:02.70 It was fairly easy, because I was able to plan 00:15:02.70\00:15:04.93 and organize things to make them workout smoothly. 00:15:04.93\00:15:08.13 It was interesting, 00:15:08.13\00:15:09.20 because we had to do this on a mimeograph machine. 00:15:09.20\00:15:12.13 Then we wrote everything by hand 00:15:12.13\00:15:13.93 and finally typed it up on a computer 00:15:13.93\00:15:16.00 and kept the printed text. 00:15:16.00\00:15:17.36 foreign language 00:15:17.36\00:15:23.16 The text was later pasted on a poster 00:15:31.70\00:15:34.00 and I personally delivered them 00:15:34.00\00:15:35.20 on public transportation in a huge bag. 00:15:35.20\00:15:40.00 So those first letters that you received, 00:15:40.00\00:15:42.86 when you began to broadcast, 00:15:42.86\00:15:45.50 where those people already interested in learning more? 00:15:45.50\00:15:50.06 foreign language 00:15:50.06\00:15:56.53 We feel the difference within a year. 00:15:59.66\00:16:01.46 We're absent for a while 00:16:01.46\00:16:03.16 and while we were gone 00:16:03.16\00:16:04.40 the letters stopped coming in. 00:16:04.40\00:16:06.30 People were writings us letters asking us 00:16:06.30\00:16:08.20 where we went and why we disappeared. 00:16:08.20\00:16:10.46 As soon as we came back on air for Radio Russia, 00:16:10.46\00:16:13.26 we started getting our flow of letters back, 00:16:13.26\00:16:15.46 couple of hundred a month. 00:16:15.46\00:16:17.80 Tell me today, we're on 1500 stations across Russia. 00:16:17.80\00:16:23.60 What kind of response you're receiving 00:16:23.60\00:16:25.60 and how do you process those responses? 00:16:25.60\00:16:28.43 foreign language 00:16:28.43\00:16:34.60 Now letters are coming in from a different direction. 00:16:38.10\00:16:40.50 They are now flowing in from prisons. 00:16:40.50\00:16:42.66 They've a different situation and are left with only 00:16:42.66\00:16:44.86 the connection through the radio. 00:16:44.86\00:16:46.66 Listening to our radio station daily, 00:16:46.66\00:16:48.76 they sent us question's relating to a topic 00:16:48.76\00:16:50.86 that were discussed. 00:16:50.86\00:16:52.43 A lot of them are now members of our school 00:16:52.43\00:16:54.70 and now giving addresses to their family, 00:16:54.70\00:16:56.70 so we can write to them. 00:16:56.70\00:16:57.86 foreign language 00:16:57.86\00:17:03.20 Here is another story of hope from Adventist World Radio. 00:17:03.20\00:17:07.76 Egor and Fatlana, 00:17:07.76\00:17:09.43 unlike some other Russians have seen nothing, 00:17:09.43\00:17:12.13 but hard times since the fall of Communism. 00:17:12.13\00:17:15.16 The agriculture industry, 00:17:15.16\00:17:16.73 so vital to their rural town has plummeted, 00:17:16.73\00:17:19.73 leaving the area in poverty. 00:17:19.73\00:17:22.43 Watching their dejected neighbours 00:17:22.43\00:17:24.30 fall to alcohol abuse, 00:17:24.30\00:17:26.13 they were concerned about the influence, 00:17:26.13\00:17:28.20 such a hopeless society 00:17:28.20\00:17:29.60 would have on their five children. 00:17:29.60\00:17:31.63 So they search for a positive influence for their family. 00:17:31.63\00:17:35.53 They founded in Adventist World Radio. 00:17:35.53\00:17:38.63 You're the brightest light in our hard life 00:17:38.63\00:17:40.96 they wrote to us. 00:17:40.96\00:17:42.43 We're always looking forward to your next program. 00:17:42.43\00:17:45.40 Thank you for your message of kindness and hope. 00:17:45.40\00:17:51.03 Adventist World Radio, were telling earlier on the questions over the years 00:19:08.66\00:19:12.63 that you are used to answer have now changed. 00:19:12.63\00:19:15.83 foreign language 00:19:15.83\00:19:22.23 Yes, today, letters have different meaning. 00:19:22.23\00:19:26.66 foreign language 00:19:26.66\00:19:27.63 We started receiving more letters 00:19:31.76\00:19:33.73 from areas that did not have simple situations 00:19:33.73\00:19:37.83 and they only have 00:19:37.83\00:19:38.80 the connection through the radio. 00:19:38.80\00:19:41.50 They listen to our station 00:19:41.50\00:19:43.43 and then they send the questions. 00:19:43.43\00:19:46.53 And they started learning. 00:19:46.53\00:19:48.50 Now they gave us addresses to their families, 00:19:48.50\00:19:51.53 so now we can write to them. 00:19:51.53\00:19:53.36 foreign language 00:19:53.36\00:19:59.16 Operation Barbarossa, it was the largest land 00:20:06.80\00:20:09.50 battle in the history of the world. 00:20:09.50\00:20:11.56 Twenty seven million soldiers lost their life. 00:20:11.56\00:20:14.83 Many of them on these very fields, 00:20:14.83\00:20:16.66 they call it the fields of blood. 00:20:16.66\00:20:18.86 Here is the memorial to many of those fallen soldiers 00:20:18.86\00:20:21.36 from just this little village alone. 00:20:21.36\00:20:23.46 But can you imagine 27 million men 00:20:23.46\00:20:26.70 gave their lives in battle. 00:20:26.70\00:20:29.56 Operation Barbarossa opened up the Eastern Front, 00:20:29.56\00:20:33.06 which ultimately became the biggest theatre of war 00:20:33.06\00:20:35.60 in world history. 00:20:35.60\00:20:37.70 It was notorious for unprecedented ferocity, 00:20:37.70\00:20:40.90 destruction and immense loss of life. 00:20:40.90\00:20:44.20 More people fought and died on the Eastern Front 00:20:44.20\00:20:46.66 than all the theatres of World War II combined. 00:20:46.66\00:20:50.20 With over 30 million dead, many of them civilians, 00:20:50.20\00:20:54.06 the Eastern Front has been called 00:20:54.06\00:20:55.33 the war of extermination. 00:20:55.33\00:20:57.76 It resulted in the destruction 00:20:57.76\00:20:59.26 of the Third Reich and the partition of Germany 00:20:59.26\00:21:01.76 and the rise of the Soviet Union 00:21:01.76\00:21:03.76 as a military and industrial superpower. 00:21:03.76\00:21:07.90 The total estimated human loss of life 00:21:07.90\00:21:10.10 caused by World War II was roughly 72 million people, 00:21:10.10\00:21:14.73 making it the deadliest and most destructive war 00:21:14.73\00:21:17.43 in human history. 00:21:17.43\00:21:18.93 The civilian toll was over 45 million. 00:21:18.93\00:21:22.50 The Soviet victory owed a great deal 00:21:22.50\00:21:24.36 to the ability of the war industry 00:21:24.36\00:21:26.20 to outperform the German economy, 00:21:26.20\00:21:28.36 despite the enormous loss of population and land. 00:21:28.36\00:21:31.30 As the world has become industrialised, 00:21:37.46\00:21:39.70 so too has the ability to cause death and war. 00:21:39.70\00:21:43.36 Beginning around 100 A.D. to now, 00:21:43.36\00:21:46.60 it is conservatively estimated 00:21:46.60\00:21:48.53 that there have been over 375 million deaths 00:21:48.53\00:21:52.06 from major conflicts. 00:21:52.06\00:21:53.73 This does not include 00:21:53.73\00:21:54.83 the thousands of minor conflicts throughout history. 00:21:54.83\00:21:57.73 Nor does it include the satanic fits of genocide 00:21:57.73\00:22:00.73 that terrorise cultures and nations since that time. 00:22:00.73\00:22:04.76 In the words of Christ, there should be wars 00:22:04.76\00:22:06.80 and rumours of wars, but the end is not yet. 00:22:06.80\00:22:10.16 Can anyone doubt that these words have been 00:22:10.16\00:22:12.60 and are been fulfilled 00:22:12.60\00:22:13.90 through the grotesquery illative sin. 00:22:13.90\00:22:17.96 As one writer so aptly put it, 00:22:17.96\00:22:20.00 "I can hear the footsteps of an approaching God." 00:22:20.00\00:22:23.73 No matter where we turn 00:22:23.73\00:22:24.93 the footsteps are getting louder, 00:22:24.93\00:22:27.23 the steady thread of events is ever join us 00:22:27.23\00:22:29.83 to the ultimate climax of time and then eternity. 00:22:29.83\00:22:33.73 "That moment when time, as we know it ceases 00:22:33.73\00:22:36.70 and every eye shall see Him." 00:22:36.70\00:22:39.36 Our Lord and Savoir is calling you 00:22:39.36\00:22:41.53 and calling me just as He is calling our radio listeners 00:22:41.53\00:22:45.10 around the world to be ready for that great day. 00:22:45.10\00:22:48.43 Tell me in the production of programs that you're doing, 00:22:53.33\00:22:58.30 what kind of subjects are you producing now. 00:22:58.30\00:23:03.06 What, has it been a change in terms of peoples' 00:23:03.06\00:23:06.06 interest over the years. 00:23:06.06\00:23:08.23 What do you find is the most effective 00:23:08.23\00:23:10.63 to reach the hearts of the Russian people? 00:23:10.63\00:23:13.46 foreign language 00:23:13.46\00:23:19.56 At first people were asking questions like God, 00:23:19.56\00:23:23.06 why is He here? 00:23:23.06\00:23:25.36 Where did He come from? 00:23:25.36\00:23:27.30 Tell us what the Bible says? 00:23:27.30\00:23:30.13 Who wrote the Bible? 00:23:30.13\00:23:32.10 These are simple questions given, 00:23:32.10\00:23:34.50 but now they became deeper and harder to explain, 00:23:34.50\00:23:37.36 they're asking high educated questions. 00:23:37.36\00:23:40.00 They started asking about the books 00:23:40.00\00:23:41.96 and where they came from, 00:23:41.96\00:23:44.36 asking about the life and the biography of authors, 00:23:44.36\00:23:48.63 just tough questions like these, 00:23:48.63\00:23:50.63 even we sometimes will have to hand those questions 00:23:50.63\00:23:53.16 over to our biblical college. 00:23:53.16\00:23:54.80 foreign language 00:23:54.80\00:23:56.66 We've a special radio program that is named, 00:23:56.66\00:23:58.73 "Biblical Dictionary". 00:23:58.73\00:24:00.20 We collect their questions, the ones asked the most, 00:24:00.20\00:24:03.16 and the most difficult ones to understand. 00:24:03.16\00:24:06.10 foreign language 00:24:06.10\00:24:11.63 We later then answer them, we've a little slogan 00:24:11.63\00:24:15.00 and it says, "This is interesting," 00:24:15.00\00:24:17.80 and our other slogan says, "Guess the biblical text." 00:24:17.80\00:24:22.03 This is very interesting 00:24:22.03\00:24:23.73 and the majority of our letters 00:24:23.73\00:24:25.06 come from these games. 00:24:25.06\00:24:28.50 The letters will come in asking more questions 00:24:28.50\00:24:31.30 and before you know it, 00:24:31.30\00:24:32.36 they're part of our so called biblical home study. 00:24:32.36\00:24:34.90 foreign language 00:24:34.90\00:24:37.83 Do you still find people changing from unbelief, 00:24:37.83\00:24:43.16 atheism to Christianity? 00:24:43.16\00:24:46.00 Is that still happening today? 00:24:46.00\00:24:47.93 foreign language 00:24:47.93\00:24:53.26 Atheism was always around, from the beginning of time, 00:24:55.80\00:25:01.03 for that reason people switch from atheism constantly. 00:25:01.03\00:25:04.06 foreign language 00:25:04.06\00:25:07.83 What in your experience do you find 00:25:07.83\00:25:10.10 is sort of the key thing that causes people to consider God 00:25:10.10\00:25:16.53 and to make that change from unbelief to belief? 00:25:16.53\00:25:21.23 foreign language 00:25:21.23\00:25:28.83 Every person soul contains Christianity. 00:25:28.83\00:25:32.10 Our radio station pushes people 00:25:32.10\00:25:33.53 to make decisions in their life. 00:25:33.53\00:25:36.53 Our job isn't to make people Christian, 00:25:36.53\00:25:38.56 but to give them that little push. 00:25:38.56\00:25:40.83 To show them the next step towards Christianity. 00:25:40.83\00:25:45.26 foreign language 00:25:45.26\00:25:51.26 Nikolai, I like to ask you one more question 00:25:54.50\00:25:56.96 and that's, is this been a rewarding position for you. 00:25:56.96\00:26:03.13 foreign language 00:26:03.13\00:26:06.70 I'm doing something I love 00:26:06.70\00:26:08.33 and I
