00:15 Welcome back to Jakarta.
00:17 And behind me, 00:18 you can see the Independence Mosque, 00:20 which is the largest mosque in Southeast Asia. 00:24 Next up, we traveled to Botswana 00:25 to visit a Global Mission pioneer's mother. 00:43 We're here in the North Botswana Conference 00:46 near the town of Francis town, 00:48 which is the biggest close town to us. 00:50 And we're gonna be visiting in the area 00:52 where Global Mission pioneers working, 00:54 but this time, 00:56 we're not actually gonna visit with a pioneer, 00:57 we're gonna have a fresh perspective into his life 01:00 and the importance of his work here in this area, 01:03 through the mother. 01:04 She's the lady that's been caring for everybody 01:07 opening the doors of her house for the work that's done here. 01:11 And we're gonna find out a little more about her. 01:13 And I understand that your story started in 2002, 01:17 when there's an evangelistic series, 01:19 and you were baptized, 01:20 and from then on, 01:24 you have been caring for your own church 01:26 and for your neighbors 01:27 so that a church would exist in this area, 01:29 or a small church, a group church. 01:31 Can you share with me 01:33 what some of the activities were like, 01:36 after you had gotten baptized 01:38 and until you received a Global Mission pioneer? 01:41 How did you keep your faith up in the faith of your children 01:45 and in the people here around you? 01:51 The pioneer came this year, 01:55 but before he came, 01:59 my younger brother would help us 02:02 by teaching us the Word, 02:05 praying together. 02:09 And that's what helped keep our faith strong. 02:12 After all these years family worship. 02:24 So you got baptized in 2002. 02:27 Since then, 02:29 you've been strengthen your faith 02:31 through the help of others, and by your efforts as well. 02:35 What is it like now 02:37 that a Global Mission pioneer has come to your village? 02:44 My brother is an entrepreneur. 02:48 He goes from place to place. 02:52 And so he's not always here, 02:56 but the coming of the pioneer 02:59 has made a steady growth in our spiritual lives. 03:04 We're able to know the Word 03:07 and we're able to pray together. 03:10 And the warmth of the believers 03:12 as we meet and gather together is keeping us strong. 03:20 And then, in your personal life, 03:23 how has that changed for you? 03:25 Have you become closer to God because the pioneer is here 03:28 or how has that change? 03:31 My life has changed tremendously and impeccably 03:35 because of the presence of the pioneer 03:37 foster's spirituality. 03:39 We're inspired to participate in prayer sessions, 03:42 and Bible study, 03:43 and to have fellowship with one another. 03:46 I now realize that there is only one path, 03:49 the path of God. 03:51 And when we choose to follow this path, 03:53 we forget about the world and we focus on God. 03:58 That's a beautiful answer. 04:00 How have you seen the work of the pioneer 04:03 change people in the community around you? 04:07 The work of the pioneer has produced positive results, 04:10 even though he just started. 04:13 There is evidence of people seeing the light. 04:16 That is why now 04:17 community members are starting to join us 04:19 in Sabbath worship. 04:21 That to me is a milestone. 04:23 I'm happy that the pioneer 04:25 is able to reach out in simple ways, 04:27 like visitations and interacting with people, 04:30 which I think is his greatest strength 04:33 that will help people hear and know the truth. 04:39 It is such a positive thing to have the community come 04:42 and worship with you on Sabbath, 04:43 but I understand 04:45 you don't have a church structure to worship in. 04:47 Where do you worship? 04:54 There has been no church structure 04:55 since we got baptized. 04:58 That forced us to have an arrangement 05:01 where the church members would take turns, 05:03 and we would have Sabbath worship in our homes. 05:07 But since the pioneer came, 05:10 I have opened my house for worship. 05:14 The people may worship here in my house, 05:19 even if that means I would live in the place 05:21 where I keep my cattle, 05:24 I would open my house so that the church may go on. 05:32 That's a very beautiful thing that you're doing, 05:34 opening your doors for people to have worship. 05:37 And I understand that one of the goals 05:40 for the Global Mission pioneer and probably yourself here 05:42 is to have a church 05:44 so that there will be a statement 05:45 for the community, 05:47 and also a place for people to come and worship, 05:50 but what other goals do you have in your heart 05:52 for the community here? 05:59 My desire is for the gospel to be heard in this village, 06:02 that people may know God for themselves 06:07 because when you have God, you have everything. 06:12 Without God, we can't do anything. 06:17 I would love to see 06:19 all of the homes here keeping the Sabbath, 06:21 enjoying the Word of God, having peace of mind. 06:28 And I'm praying that 06:29 there would be a church structure 06:31 here in this place. 06:39 Thank you so much for sharing with us. 06:42 It's a beautiful story. 06:43 And I hope your home 06:45 are encouraged by the story that you've heard. 06:47 And I hope that you will pray 06:48 for the work of the Global Mission pioneer. 06:50 It's a privilege for them to have one 06:53 to be able to be grown in a church now. 06:55 And we ask that you specially pray 06:56 that they get a church structure, 06:58 a place where they can worship in 06:59 and continue to grow in this community. 07:28 Next up, we traveled back to Southern Asia to visit 07:31 another 13 Sabbath Offering Project. 07:44 Gabriel approached 07:46 this remote Indian village for the first time. 07:49 He didn't know 07:50 what he was getting himself into, 07:51 but he had heard a still, 07:53 small voice impressing him to go. 07:56 Gabriel had taken a year off school 07:58 because of health issues, 07:59 but a friend told him about a mountain village 08:02 where people had never heard of Jesus. 08:05 Even though his health was getting worse, 08:07 Gabriel felt compelled to go. 08:09 I told God, 08:10 "Since you have sent me here, 08:12 You have to make me all right, You have to take care of me. 08:15 I'm completely focusing and depending on You 08:18 with all my health issues." 08:20 After arriving in the village, 08:21 Gabriel rested and prayed for a week. 08:24 Then he had to travel a long distance 08:26 to see a doctor. 08:27 A blood test revealed that his health had been restored. 08:31 His prayer answered, 08:33 Gabriel returned 08:34 ready to put all his energy into serving this community, 08:37 but he quickly realized the challenges facing him. 08:40 The high altitude made it cold, he had to hike to get water, 08:44 and the villagers knew nothing about basic health principles. 08:48 See, we see a child, the face is so dirty, 08:52 and he's playing in the mud. 08:53 And here we see a lot of wounds. 08:55 I don't know how I'm gonna support him with medicine. 08:59 He's feeling so cold, it is so cold here. 09:02 Although Gabriel had permission from village leaders, 09:05 many opposed his presence, but the children loved him. 09:09 There was no school in the village, 09:10 so Gabriel turned his home into a classroom. 09:14 Here now most of them, they're beginning to write. 09:17 They are writing, 09:19 they know how to write already ABCD, 09:21 and also know how to read, and now they're writing, 09:24 some of them are writing 1 to 100 and also spelling. 09:28 It was very difficult for them to accept me, 09:30 and it took almost four months to become friends with them. 09:35 So when they finally accepted me 09:38 as part of their village that makes me very happy. 09:41 The villagers started inviting Gabriel 09:43 to spend time with them. 09:45 He is cutting provision banana. 09:48 We are going to eat the banana flower tonight. 09:51 We are running short on money and out of vegetables, 09:54 so we're going to eat the banana. 09:56 Soon, Gabriel was having conversations 09:59 about health principles. 10:00 Sometimes they even talked about faith. 10:03 When they began to ask me, 10:06 "What do you have in your life that makes you so happy?" 10:09 Then I began to share the love of Jesus Christ. 10:13 The villagers enjoyed hearing about his hope in Jesus. 10:16 It was a liberating concept they had never heard before. 10:20 Many accepted Jesus 10:21 and started meeting together on Sabbath. 10:24 Wonderful doors were opening, 10:26 but Gabriel still got discouraged at times. 10:29 He felt lonely. 10:31 One outlet was to visit a market nearby 10:33 from time to time, 10:35 but even this came with challenges. 10:38 They are smoking, this old lady. 10:41 I can't bear the smell anymore, but I just have to adjust. 10:46 I don't know, sometimes I get confused 10:47 why God sent me to such a place. 10:52 This is the place of my mission field. 10:54 But Gabriel never gave up. 10:56 He began hiking to other nearby villages, 10:59 as far as he could walk, to spread the good news. 11:02 Even I'm feeling tired, but I won't give up. 11:06 I'll go and meet and tell them about the love of Jesus. 11:11 After this year of ministry, 11:12 Gabriel knew that he only wanted one thing, 11:15 to follow God's will for his life. 11:18 His desire to delve deeper into the Bible 11:21 led him to enroll in the School of Theology 11:23 at Spicer Adventist University. 11:26 When I went to the village, 11:28 I knew that my health was very poor 11:30 and I might possibly even die, 11:33 but I have passions to reach the gospel 11:36 to the place where it's unreached. 11:38 Today, Gabriel is happy to be studying at Spicer, 11:41 a school dedicated to teaching and training students 11:44 for a higher purpose. 11:46 His dream is to become a full-time church planter. 11:50 And thanks to a missionary family 11:52 sponsoring his studies, 11:53 that dream is set to become a reality. 11:56 Not far from the Spicer campus, a community had no school. 12:01 Just like Gabriel taught his village children, 12:03 the university has reached out and opened a classroom. 12:07 The gratitude of parents 12:09 shows that so much more is needed. 12:11 This quarter, 12:13 a portion of your 13th Sabbath Offering 12:15 will help build a new school building 12:17 for this needy community. 12:19 Please pray for this opportunity 12:20 near Spicer Adventist University. 12:23 Pray that more people will find hope in Jesus, 12:26 just like the villagers Gabriel ministered to. 12:29 Thank you for supporting the 13th Sabbath Offering 12:32 and the mission 12:33 of the Seventh-day Adventist Church 12:35 around the world. 12:56 Well, thank you so much 12:58 for joining us on today's program. 13:00 And I hope that you have enjoyed 13:01 our 360 degree view of mission around the world. 13:05 We're seeing many exciting things 13:07 that make us praise God, 13:09 but we still see that 13:10 there are many remaining challenges. 13:12 I mean, I'm here right in Jakarta 13:14 in the heart of the 10/40 Window 13:16 where 60% of the world's population 13:19 live in this region 13:20 and most have never even heard the name of Jesus. 13:22 So thank you 13:24 for your continuing prayers for mission. 13:26 Thank you for your donations to Global Mission 13:28 to help fund Global Mission Pioneers 13:31 and Urban Centers of Influence and so much more 13:33 and thank you for your personal involvement. 13:36 Well, for Adventist Mission, I'm Gary Krause. 13:38 And I hope that you can join me next time 13:40 right here on Mission 360. 13:57 What is this kingdom that you speak of? 14:04 What is this faith you say I need? 14:10 Is it really worth the fight 14:13 To keep standing in the light? 14:17 Oh it is, my friend, His way, His life 14:25 Seek God, seek life 14:31 Keep up the fight, 14:32 our eternal life is in sight 14:39 Seek God, seek life 14:44 I have sought You first Let me give You worthy cries 14:52 When will I finally have the victory? 14:58 When will my faith shine forth as sight? |
