00:02:39.25\00:02:40.66 What surprises? 00:02:40.69\00:02:42.09 What don't you understand? 00:02:42.12\00:02:43.93 What will you obey or apply to your life? 00:02:43.96\00:02:47.00 And what will you share with someone else this week? 00:02:47.03\00:02:50.13 After discussion, 00:02:50.17\00:02:51.50 we pray, Father, thank You for being with us. 00:02:51.53\00:02:53.37 Please help us as we follow Jesus this week. 00:02:53.40\00:02:57.54 I work for a large construction company 00:02:57.57\00:03:00.34 as a building supervisor. 00:03:00.38\00:03:03.58 After running that group in my home, 00:03:03.61\00:03:06.61 I decided to bring that idea to my workplace. 00:03:06.65\00:03:11.05 It had a very big impact on my boys. 00:03:11.09\00:03:15.19 I know an old blind man called Vinegar. 00:03:20.30\00:03:24.33 I found out he lived in a makeshift sort of house. 00:03:24.37\00:03:29.64 I had this idea of building a house. 00:03:29.67\00:03:33.04 I went and discussed that with my boys. 00:03:33.07\00:03:36.34 They got excited and their voluntary 00:03:36.38\00:03:38.91 put their hand up to help me. 00:03:38.95\00:03:42.05 I believe in Jesus my Savior. 00:03:42.08\00:03:45.52 I trust Him. 00:03:45.55\00:03:47.36 One day He will return I go with Him. 00:03:47.39\00:03:51.39 Every Sabbath is day two, three baptism in each churches. 00:03:51.43\00:03:56.50 By way of record this quarter, 00:03:56.53\00:03:58.53 this has been the biggest baptism ever 00:03:58.57\00:04:02.17 taken place in Central Public Conference. 00:04:02.20\00:04:04.51 I am seeing a paradigm shift in the way we do church. 00:04:04.54\00:04:08.11 Because the church is now seeing 00:04:08.14\00:04:09.68 that we have to bring the church 00:04:09.71\00:04:12.31 to where the community is. 00:04:12.35\00:04:13.78 God uses ordinary people 00:04:18.25\00:04:20.26 to carry out his extra ordinary plan. 00:04:20.29\00:04:22.72 Welcome back to Singapore and behind me 00:04:38.81\00:04:40.68 you can see this very impressive structure. 00:04:40.71\00:04:43.45 It's the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Exhibition Center. 00:04:43.48\00:04:47.72 Next up, we travel to Zambia 00:04:47.75\00:04:49.65 to visit a Global Mission pioneer. 00:04:49.68\00:04:52.59 Thanks. 00:04:52.62\00:04:53.96 I'm here with the Global Mission pioneer. 00:04:53.99\00:04:55.32 These are one of the fun people we like to meet. 00:04:55.36\00:04:56.89 I've traveled about 20 hours by plane. 00:04:56.93\00:04:59.83 Maybe close to four or five hours by car 00:04:59.86\00:05:02.13 to come to central location where we can meet. 00:05:02.16\00:05:04.97 Where the nearby church here, 00:05:05.00\00:05:06.80 it's the closest church to the area 00:05:06.84\00:05:08.30 where the pioneers working. 00:05:08.34\00:05:09.94 But my traveling here is nothing compared 00:05:09.97\00:05:11.71 to what he has had to do to get here. 00:05:11.74\00:05:15.08 Welcome. 00:05:15.11\00:05:16.44 Thanks so much for being with us. 00:05:16.48\00:05:17.81 Just to begin this interview, 00:05:19.61\00:05:20.98 what is a Global Mission pioneer? 00:05:21.02\00:05:23.39 As far as I'm concerned, a Global Mission pioneer is one 00:05:23.42\00:05:27.82 who goes in the areas 00:05:27.86\00:05:30.23 where we hear for no SDA presence, 00:05:30.26\00:05:33.40 to talk about Christ. 00:05:33.43\00:05:35.73 And there's a very important part 00:05:35.76\00:05:38.00 of a Global Mission pioneer, 00:05:38.03\00:05:39.70 which it is that you're here, you live locally, 00:05:39.73\00:05:42.90 you understand the culture, so you're the best person 00:05:42.94\00:05:45.54 to go reach your brothers and sisters? 00:05:45.57\00:05:47.98 You see this is the beauty. 00:05:48.01\00:05:50.15 What I would like to find out from you is what motivated you 00:05:50.18\00:05:53.42 to become a Global Mission pioneer? 00:05:53.45\00:05:57.39 When I saw that there were many people 00:05:57.42\00:06:00.56 who are not going to the SDA church, 00:06:00.59\00:06:03.32 I got encouraged to share with them the truth. 00:06:06.36\00:06:11.50 Especially, what I was reading from the Bible 00:06:11.53\00:06:14.57 it really encouraged me 00:06:14.60\00:06:18.51 to embark on this mission of sharing the good news. 00:06:18.54\00:06:23.38 What's the name of the region that you working in? 00:06:23.41\00:06:25.85 We call it Wurrumiyanga. 00:06:25.88\00:06:27.85 Wurrumiyanga. Yes. 00:06:27.88\00:06:29.22 And how far do you travel to reach Wurrumiyanga? 00:06:29.25\00:06:32.25 Sixty five. 00:06:32.29\00:06:35.02 Sixty five kilometer? Yes. 00:06:35.06\00:06:37.09 Do you go by foot or by bus? 00:06:37.13\00:06:40.26 I walk on foot. 00:06:40.30\00:06:42.26 And how long does that take you by foot? 00:06:42.30\00:06:45.03 It takes 12 hours. 00:06:45.07\00:06:46.84 Twelve hours? Yeah. 00:06:46.87\00:06:50.31 Do you have a family here locally that goes with you? 00:06:50.34\00:06:54.38 Yeah. 00:06:54.41\00:06:57.51 Does your family go with you? 00:06:57.55\00:07:00.32 So what I do, I leave the family, 00:07:00.35\00:07:05.35 I go and work alone. 00:07:05.39\00:07:09.76 But when it is rainy season because generally in this place 00:07:09.79\00:07:13.06 that's when we plant the corn. 00:07:13.09\00:07:16.77 So I'd come back to join the family 00:07:16.80\00:07:18.83 to help them in planting. 00:07:18.87\00:07:22.30 What are some of the methods 00:07:22.34\00:07:23.67 that you use to reach the people? 00:07:23.71\00:07:27.04 The method that I use, 00:07:27.08\00:07:31.15 I first go to the village headman 00:07:31.18\00:07:33.78 and ask for permission. 00:07:33.82\00:07:35.98 And when I'm given permission, 00:07:36.02\00:07:38.05 I will begin visiting families in that area. 00:07:38.09\00:07:42.02 So I'll go to this family, I'll speak to them, 00:07:42.06\00:07:46.06 share from the Word of God. 00:07:46.09\00:07:49.36 And oftentimes, they're very welcoming. 00:07:49.40\00:07:52.07 Then afterwards when I'm through 00:07:52.10\00:07:53.60 I'll go to another family again. 00:07:53.64\00:07:58.37 Do you find that people are usually receptive 00:07:58.41\00:08:00.64 to the message that you're bringing them? 00:08:00.68\00:08:04.38 Sometimes people accept, sometimes they do not. 00:08:04.41\00:08:10.29 But at the moment those who have already accepted 00:08:10.32\00:08:12.65 the message they are about 60. 00:08:12.69\00:08:15.56 That's a big number. 00:08:15.59\00:08:17.63 I imagine that it's not all success all the time. 00:08:17.66\00:08:21.23 Can you share with us some of the challenges 00:08:21.26\00:08:22.83 that you encounter in reaching the people. 00:08:22.86\00:08:24.57 The challenge that I face is that sometimes 00:08:27.67\00:08:30.61 I'm welcomed by the people, 00:08:34.94\00:08:36.95 sometimes they don't welcome me. 00:08:36.98\00:08:39.28 But it looks like these days it is becoming a bit easier 00:08:42.32\00:08:46.76 than it used to be. 00:08:46.79\00:08:48.12 Is this the first time that you work as a pioneer? 00:08:51.53\00:08:53.50 So I started in 2004 00:08:57.93\00:09:00.94 in a different area, 00:09:00.97\00:09:04.01 they also there was no church representation 00:09:04.04\00:09:07.84 I started the work there, until it grew to the level 00:09:07.88\00:09:11.25 where there were church elders 00:09:11.28\00:09:13.35 that's when I moved now 00:09:13.38\00:09:15.18 to a new area called Wurrumiyanga. 00:09:15.22\00:09:17.42 How do you feel when you go back 00:09:19.85\00:09:21.46 and you visit the church that you helped to build? 00:09:21.49\00:09:24.66 I feel very happy when I go to see that. 00:09:24.69\00:09:27.43 The current elders 00:09:30.47\00:09:31.97 they are really pushing the work forward 00:09:32.00\00:09:36.47 I feel very happy filled with joy. 00:09:36.50\00:09:40.71 Have you had a chance to maybe go back 00:09:40.74\00:09:43.01 and preach at the church that you helped establish? 00:09:43.04\00:09:47.38 So when I have time I go back 00:09:47.42\00:09:49.18 and they give me time to preach. 00:09:49.22\00:09:53.56 That must be really nice. 00:09:53.59\00:09:54.92 It must be a really heartwarming feeling. 00:09:54.96\00:09:56.42 Can you share with us in the new location 00:09:56.46\00:09:58.73 that you are some stories of success 00:09:58.76\00:10:01.20 that you've had in reaching the people, 00:10:01.23\00:10:02.66 maybe a conversion story that stood out? 00:10:02.70\00:10:05.53 Yes, I can share with you. 00:10:05.57\00:10:07.40 I would love to hear it. 00:10:07.44\00:10:08.77 In that area when I went there was one New Apostolic Church. 00:10:08.80\00:10:14.48 And also UCZ. 00:10:14.51\00:10:16.61 When I went to that area, the area where you only find 00:10:20.92\00:10:26.09 the New Apostolic Church 00:10:26.12\00:10:27.62 and the United Church of Zambia, UCZ, 00:10:27.66\00:10:29.62 I had one person who accepted the message first, only one. 00:10:37.03\00:10:40.94 Through that one person we started visiting together. 00:10:44.81\00:10:48.81 So the church started growing 00:10:51.81\00:10:54.15 until we built a grass at such church. 00:10:54.18\00:10:59.59 That's how the work is growing there. 00:10:59.62\00:11:01.19 You want to move your family there. 00:11:07.80\00:11:09.86 You said that you have 60 members 00:11:09.90\00:11:11.93 already in that location. 00:11:11.97\00:11:13.97 Now how much more work is there to do? 00:11:14.00\00:11:15.67 In that area there are about 15 village headmen. 00:11:20.71\00:11:25.91 But I have so far penetrated only one village headman. 00:11:25.95\00:11:30.15 So the reason why I want to move with my family 00:11:30.19\00:11:32.45 there to go and live among them 00:11:32.49\00:11:35.42 is also to take the message to these other village headmen. 00:11:35.46\00:11:39.43 So the work is nowhere being done yet, 00:11:42.83\00:11:45.67 there's still a lot more to do. 00:11:45.70\00:11:48.04 Is there a message that you could leave to the people 00:11:48.07\00:11:50.14 who have been praying for you as a pioneer? 00:11:50.17\00:11:52.24 And even the ones 00:11:52.27\00:11:53.61 who have supported this work financially? 00:11:53.64\00:11:54.98 Yes, I have a message to the donors. 00:11:58.88\00:12:02.42 The work they are doing is great. 00:12:02.45\00:12:05.79 Many people still want to hear the message like the area 00:12:05.82\00:12:09.26 where I'm working. 00:12:09.29\00:12:11.73 We only have penetrated one spot. 00:12:11.76\00:12:15.06 So we still have other spots to penetrate, 00:12:15.10\00:12:18.27 where there is no SDA presence. 00:12:18.30\00:12:21.97 So we really encourage them to continue supporting 00:12:22.00\00:12:25.67 the work of Global Mission pioneers. 00:12:25.71\00:12:27.51 It's clear that there's still a lot of work to be done. 00:12:31.98\00:12:34.42 It's clear that we need to pray more 00:12:34.45\00:12:37.19 for the work that you do 00:12:37.22\00:12:38.55 and many other pioneers around the world. 00:12:38.59\00:12:40.39 If you'd like to support 00:12:40.42\00:12:41.76 this ministry of pioneers like welcome. 00:12:41.79\00:12:44.29 This is projects that you can invest in, 00:12:44.33\00:12:46.59 you can choose them 00:12:46.63\00:12:47.96 specifically where you'd like to send your donation. 00:12:48.00\00:12:49.56 But most importantly, we encourage you to pray, 00:12:49.60\00:12:52.00 your prayers will go a long way your prayers can do miracles 00:12:52.03\00:12:55.04 that even financial support may not. 00:12:55.07\00:12:57.01 So we encourage you to do both. 00:12:57.04\00:12:58.51 Pray for us. 00:12:58.54\00:12:59.87 If you'd like to financially support 00:12:59.91\00:13:01.24 these projects, 00:13:01.28\00:13:02.61 you can go to administration.org. 00:13:02.64\00:13:04.31 Back to you in the studio. 00:13:04.35\00:13:05.68 Next up, we learn more about 00:13:21.06\00:13:22.86 the Adventist Development and Relief Agency initiative 00:13:22.90\00:13:25.77 called Every Child Everywhere In School. 00:13:25.80\00:13:29.30 This kind of project 00:13:37.81\00:13:39.15 was actually created by the government 00:13:39.18\00:13:40.82 because they need to scale up nutrition 00:13:40.85\00:13:42.58 and there is a need in Mozambique. 00:13:42.62\00:13:46.42 Right now, the chronic malnutrition rates 00:13:46.45\00:13:48.96 are really soaring. 00:13:48.99\00:13:50.49 They are above 40%. 00:13:50.53\00:13:52.69 And this is a generally across the country. 00:13:52.73\00:13:56.30 Although, there are certain places 00:13:56.33\00:13:57.87 where it's higher. 00:13:57.90\00:13:59.23 In Maputo also they discovered that it's above 30%, 00:13:59.27\00:14:03.30 which also includes districts like Boane. 00:14:03.34\00:14:05.87 So that's why we feel like it's important 00:14:05.91\00:14:09.11 that the students should get also part of the meal 00:14:09.14\00:14:11.48 because they might not be getting enough. 00:14:11.51\00:14:15.08 When we started we had our school 00:14:15.12\00:14:17.79 feeding funded by ADRA International. 00:14:17.82\00:14:21.29 The other part of the donation was through the food 00:14:21.32\00:14:24.26 that we are still receiving through Rise Against Hunger. 00:14:24.29\00:14:26.66 Being part of this project, they received rice, 00:14:30.17\00:14:32.77 the rice comes in a packet 00:14:32.80\00:14:34.44 with soy and dehydration vegetables. 00:14:34.47\00:14:36.97 And inside each packet, there is a multivitamin packet 00:14:37.01\00:14:40.24 within the food that we distribute. 00:14:40.28\00:14:43.24 So every time they get a ration size 00:14:43.28\00:14:46.45 which is almost equivalent to a 700 kilocalorie. 00:14:46.48\00:14:49.75 It's in supplement to what they get from home. 00:14:49.78\00:14:51.79 When we started the project, 00:14:57.46\00:14:58.79 we did some anthropometry 00:14:58.83\00:15:00.36 wherein we were weighing the height and the weight 00:15:00.40\00:15:02.13 of the students and we analyzed it. 00:15:02.16\00:15:04.20 And then we discovered that 50% of the students 00:15:04.23\00:15:06.84 were really underweight. 00:15:06.87\00:15:08.54 That was last year. 00:15:08.57\00:15:10.37 And we are going 00:15:10.41\00:15:11.87 to consequently weigh the students. 00:15:11.91\00:15:14.64 Right now, we designed a cohort 00:15:14.68\00:15:16.54 that we would follow up each month 00:15:16.58\00:15:18.31 so that we have concrete results 00:15:18.35\00:15:19.95 to see the changes that are okay. 00:15:19.98\00:15:23.02 What we have noted so far, 00:15:23.05\00:15:24.92 there's been an increase in the number of students. 00:15:24.95\00:15:27.12 We started with 9,366 00:15:27.16\00:15:29.79 right now we have 13,453 students. 00:15:29.82\00:15:33.53 And last year when we ended, we had 11,656 students. 00:15:33.56\00:15:37.80 Well, I hope you've enjoyed today's program, 00:16:02.42\00:16:04.66 and I hope that you've been challenged 00:16:04.69\00:16:07.00 by our 360 degree view of mission around the world. 00:16:07.03\00:16:11.13 We've traveled to Zambia 00:16:11.17\00:16:12.53 and visited a Global Mission pioneer, 00:16:12.57\00:16:14.37 and there are thousands of pioneers 00:16:14.40\00:16:16.20 working around the world today, 00:16:16.24\00:16:17.61 starting new groups of believers. 00:16:17.64\00:16:19.87 We've seen children in mission. 00:16:19.91\00:16:22.04 We've also seen the work of ADRA 00:16:22.08\00:16:24.01 in trying to get every child involved in education, 00:16:24.05\00:16:28.42 every child in school. 00:16:28.45\00:16:30.22 We've seen so many mission opportunities, 00:16:30.25\00:16:32.09 and we praise God for the wonderful things 00:16:32.12\00:16:33.82 that are happening around the world. 00:16:33.86\00:16:35.56 But of course, 00:16:35.59\00:16:36.93 there are still many mission challenges facing us, 00:16:36.96\00:16:39.36 I think of territory right here in the 10/40 window. 00:16:39.39\00:16:43.03 I think of the growing cities of the world. 00:16:43.06\00:16:45.03 I think of the secular and postmodern 00:16:45.07\00:16:47.10 with so many challenges, 00:16:47.14\00:16:48.47 but I want to thank you for the part 00:16:48.50\00:16:50.11 that you play in Adventist mission. 00:16:50.14\00:16:52.51 You might say, "How do I do that?" 00:16:52.54\00:16:53.88 Well, every time you pray for mission, 00:16:53.91\00:16:55.51 you're part of Adventist mission, 00:16:55.54\00:16:57.25 every time you give your donations 00:16:57.28\00:16:58.98 to Global Mission or your mission offerings, 00:16:59.01\00:17:01.08 you're supporting mission 00:17:01.12\00:17:02.45 and thank you for your personal involvement. 00:17:02.48\00:17:04.45 Well for Mission 360 I'm Gary Krause. 00:17:04.49\00:17:06.96 And I hope you can join me 00:17:06.99\00:17:08.39 right here on this program next time. 00:17:08.42\00:17:10.33
