Welcome back to San Jose, Costa Rica. 00:00:17.68\00:00:20.22 And I'm standing in the Avenida Segunda, 00:00:20.25\00:00:22.95 the main thoroughfare through the city. 00:00:22.98\00:00:25.69 Next up, we travel to the Mission 360 Kitchen 00:00:25.72\00:00:28.79 to learn how to make a strawberry and spinach salad. 00:00:28.82\00:00:32.16 I'm game, if you are game. 00:00:32.19\00:00:34.13 Welcome to our Mission 360 Kitchen. 00:00:34.16\00:00:36.77 We're going to take you to France today 00:00:36.80\00:00:38.87 and we are going to make a spinach and strawberry salad. 00:00:38.90\00:00:42.50 And that is going to be a very nice springtime 00:00:42.54\00:00:46.04 addition to your menus. 00:00:46.07\00:00:47.51 But, of course, you can have it any time of the year 00:00:47.54\00:00:49.48 because the ingredients are almost always available. 00:00:49.51\00:00:52.75 So all we do... 00:00:52.78\00:00:54.75 And the thing that's nice about salads 00:00:54.78\00:00:56.28 is that they're not precise measurements. 00:00:56.32\00:00:58.85 You just kind of fill your bowl or your platter or whatever, 00:00:58.89\00:01:02.19 so it makes it easy. 00:01:02.22\00:01:04.59 So I'm going to take some pre-washed spinach, 00:01:04.63\00:01:08.30 baby spinach and just lay this out on the platter like this 00:01:08.33\00:01:12.33 until I have enough for my guests 00:01:12.37\00:01:16.40 or until the bowl or platter looks nice and full. 00:01:16.44\00:01:19.34 And then we're just going to top it off 00:01:23.24\00:01:25.38 with some sliced strawberries. 00:01:25.41\00:01:27.32 You want to do that, Kayla? 00:01:27.35\00:01:28.68 Yes. Okay. 00:01:28.72\00:01:30.05 I'll turn the leaves over so they look nice. 00:01:30.09\00:01:32.69 We want to sprinkle these over. 00:01:32.72\00:01:35.12 Yes. 00:01:35.16\00:01:36.49 Oh, it's nice and fresh. 00:01:39.19\00:01:42.03 The dressing is now ready. 00:01:42.06\00:01:44.60 I love the contrast with the green and the red. 00:01:44.63\00:01:46.63 And if you serve people a large serving 00:01:46.67\00:01:48.27 that could actually be like an entree salad. 00:01:48.30\00:01:51.91 But it makes a very nice side salad as well. 00:01:51.94\00:01:54.61 So maybe let's add just a few more 00:01:54.64\00:01:56.51 all the way in this corner, just so. 00:01:56.54\00:01:58.51 Yeah, just a little bit extra. 00:01:58.55\00:02:00.52 That's good. That's good. 00:02:00.55\00:02:02.55 Now we're going to make our salad dressing. 00:02:02.58\00:02:04.72 Now the salad dressing can be made ahead of time 00:02:04.75\00:02:06.86 and you could have that in your fridge. 00:02:06.89\00:02:08.79 And normally, when you make it and before serving, 00:02:08.82\00:02:11.49 you'd put that on a nice little picture 00:02:11.53\00:02:13.09 or something. 00:02:13.13\00:02:14.46 But we're just gonna serve it straight from our kitchen 00:02:14.50\00:02:16.06 kind of like we would do at home. 00:02:16.10\00:02:18.00 So we're gonna start out with a blender. 00:02:18.03\00:02:21.07 We're gonna put that up here. 00:02:21.10\00:02:24.24 And then we're going to add a cup of strawberries. 00:02:24.27\00:02:27.88 They don't have to be sliced first. 00:02:27.91\00:02:32.28 And then we're going to add a third cup of the olive oil. 00:02:32.31\00:02:35.32 Some lemon juice. 00:02:39.82\00:02:41.16 And then we're gonna give that a blend. 00:02:44.79\00:02:47.60 So let's see how pretty it turns out. 00:02:47.63\00:02:50.43 I think it should be nice. 00:02:59.11\00:03:00.61 That looks good. 00:03:07.98\00:03:11.49 Nice color there. 00:03:11.52\00:03:12.85 It does look nice. 00:03:12.89\00:03:15.52 And it smells good too. 00:03:15.56\00:03:17.33 Nice and fresh. 00:03:17.36\00:03:18.69 So we're gonna just drizzle that 00:03:18.73\00:03:20.40 over our salad platter. 00:03:20.43\00:03:21.76 I'll move it over a little bit closer to you. 00:03:21.80\00:03:23.80 Nice and fresh. 00:03:31.77\00:03:33.48 And it does make a difference when you use fresh ingredients, 00:03:33.51\00:03:36.31 so try to do that when you can. 00:03:36.34\00:03:40.18 That looks great. 00:03:40.22\00:03:42.08 Shall we try it? Yes, let's do that. 00:03:42.12\00:03:43.72 Okay. 00:03:43.75\00:03:45.09 Why don't you serve yourself and I'll serve myself too. 00:03:45.12\00:03:48.22 Okay. 00:03:48.26\00:03:49.59 We'll go family style. 00:03:49.62\00:03:51.96 That works. 00:03:51.99\00:03:53.33 Just take like that. 00:03:55.96\00:03:59.63 I'll try something here. 00:03:59.67\00:04:01.00 I'm actually going to sprinkle some almonds on mine. 00:04:01.04\00:04:03.27 Oh, good idea. Good idea. 00:04:03.30\00:04:04.87 Look bit creative. They add a nice crunch. 00:04:04.91\00:04:07.41 They do. 00:04:07.44\00:04:09.94 So you could add it individually 00:04:09.98\00:04:11.31 or you could add it to the salad bowl 00:04:11.35\00:04:13.52 or platter to make everything look nice. 00:04:13.55\00:04:16.18 So you're gonna taste it? I can't wait. 00:04:16.22\00:04:18.12 What do you think? I love strawberries. 00:04:23.16\00:04:24.93 It's heaven. It's perfect. 00:04:24.96\00:04:26.70 I love it. 00:04:26.73\00:04:28.26 I'm glad that we are able to get these 00:04:28.30\00:04:29.83 from Chile on a year round basis, 00:04:29.86\00:04:31.90 so we can always have 00:04:31.93\00:04:33.70 a nice fresh strawberry salad. 00:04:33.74\00:04:36.71 Thanks for stopping and visiting us 00:04:36.74\00:04:38.47 at our Mission 360 Kitchen. 00:04:38.51\00:04:41.11 Next up, we visit 00:04:41.14\00:04:42.48 with some One Year in Mission volunteers 00:04:42.51\00:04:44.95 who are working in centers of influence 00:04:44.98\00:04:46.92 in Santiago, Chile. 00:04:46.95\00:04:48.58 Sebastian decided to give his life to Jesus 00:04:52.25\00:04:55.16 in an unusual place, the soccer field. 00:04:55.19\00:04:59.69 The Life Hope Center helped me 00:04:59.73\00:05:01.76 have the Word of God in my heart. 00:05:01.80\00:05:05.57 A few months before he was excited 00:05:05.60\00:05:07.40 when his parents Moises and Angelica 00:05:07.44\00:05:09.54 signed him up for soccer lessons 00:05:09.57\00:05:11.21 at the Global Mission Life Hope Center 00:05:11.24\00:05:13.17 just down the street from their house. 00:05:13.21\00:05:15.01 Sebastian worked hard at the lessons 00:05:15.04\00:05:17.01 and his skills improved quickly. 00:05:17.05\00:05:18.71 But soon he realized 00:05:18.75\00:05:20.08 he was learning more than just soccer. 00:05:20.12\00:05:22.18 Sebastian had met Jesus 00:05:22.22\00:05:24.55 through the One Year in Mission volunteers 00:05:24.59\00:05:26.59 serving this urban center of influence 00:05:26.62\00:05:28.69 in Santiago, Chile. 00:05:28.72\00:05:30.33 He felt like he needed to share his new love for Jesus 00:05:30.36\00:05:32.99 with his parents. 00:05:33.03\00:05:34.36 So each day after soccer lessons 00:05:34.40\00:05:36.26 while walking home with his parents, 00:05:36.30\00:05:38.10 Sebastian told them about Jesus. 00:05:38.13\00:05:40.70 It was around this time 00:05:40.74\00:05:42.07 that Sebastian's grandmother got very sick. 00:05:42.10\00:05:45.31 Sebastian was worried. 00:05:45.34\00:05:47.08 During this difficult time, Pastor Abraham Cabezas, 00:05:47.11\00:05:50.15 who led the center's outreach programs 00:05:50.18\00:05:52.28 began regularly visiting the family 00:05:52.31\00:05:54.32 with this team of One Year in Mission volunteers 00:05:54.35\00:05:56.99 to pray with them and encourage them. 00:05:57.02\00:05:59.85 Sebastian's parents enjoyed these visits 00:05:59.89\00:06:02.62 and in time they requested Bible studies. 00:06:02.66\00:06:05.46 Eventually, the love of Jesus won their hearts 00:06:05.49\00:06:08.86 and they were baptized. 00:06:08.90\00:06:10.63 Soon his grandmother regained her strength. 00:06:10.67\00:06:13.47 The family is eternally grateful 00:06:13.50\00:06:15.40 for the friendship and care 00:06:15.44\00:06:16.77 shown by the One Year in Mission team. 00:06:16.81\00:06:19.14 To this day, 00:06:19.17\00:06:20.51 the volunteers selflessly give up their time 00:06:20.54\00:06:22.58 to be lights of hope in the community. 00:06:22.61\00:06:25.01 We find these volunteers 00:06:25.05\00:06:26.38 who are willing to give their gifts, 00:06:26.41\00:06:28.32 talents, and abilities to serve others. 00:06:28.35\00:06:31.72 We have so many types of workshops, 00:06:31.75\00:06:34.29 like cooking workshops, language workshops, 00:06:34.32\00:06:37.39 and exercise workshops that are used as an instrument, 00:06:37.43\00:06:40.76 an opportunity to follow Christ method. 00:06:40.80\00:06:43.73 That is why through these workshops, 00:06:43.77\00:06:45.47 many people can mingle with Adventists 00:06:45.50\00:06:47.90 and through their service they can know the Lord. 00:06:47.94\00:06:51.37 Sebastian is so happy 00:06:51.41\00:06:53.07 when he listens to his parents 00:06:53.11\00:06:54.44 talk about their new lives and here's why. 00:06:54.48\00:06:57.98 So that we go to heaven. 00:06:58.01\00:07:04.45 Thanks to your faithful support of urban centers of influence, 00:07:04.49\00:07:07.92 Sebastian's goal of having his family 00:07:07.96\00:07:10.29 united in Christ has become an exciting reality. 00:07:10.33\00:07:14.23 I want to express my gratitude to Global Mission 00:07:14.26\00:07:17.03 for believing and trusting in these projects. 00:07:17.07\00:07:20.27 At any moment 00:07:20.30\00:07:21.64 the King in heaven will return 00:07:21.67\00:07:23.77 and we will see the result of all of the efforts 00:07:23.81\00:07:26.78 from Chile and the whole world. 00:07:26.81\00:07:28.84 Well, thank you so much 00:07:48.73\00:07:50.07 for joining us on today's program. 00:07:50.10\00:07:51.73 And I hope that you've enjoyed our 360 degree view of mission 00:07:51.77\00:07:56.10 around the world. 00:07:56.14\00:07:57.47 On today's program, 00:07:57.51\00:07:58.84 we've seen mission in South America, 00:07:58.87\00:08:00.28 we've seen in West Africa, 00:08:00.31\00:08:02.01 we've seen it here in Central America. 00:08:02.04\00:08:04.51 We tend to focus on those, 00:08:04.55\00:08:06.01 the good things that are happening, 00:08:06.05\00:08:07.38 and so we should, 00:08:07.42\00:08:08.75 but I don't want you to lose sight 00:08:08.78\00:08:10.12 of the many mission challenges that we still face. 00:08:10.15\00:08:12.75 So thank you so much for your continuing support. 00:08:12.79\00:08:15.82 With your donations to Global Mission, 00:08:15.86\00:08:17.63 your mission offerings, 00:08:17.66\00:08:19.09 your prayers and your personal involvement, 00:08:19.13\00:08:21.96 it does make a difference. 00:08:22.00\00:08:23.77 Well, for Adventist Mission, I'm Gary Krause. 00:08:23.80\00:08:26.33 And I hope you can join me next time 00:08:26.37\00:08:28.30 right here on Mission 360. 00:08:28.34\00:08:31.27
