Welcome back to Dublin, Ireland. 00:00:12.07\00:00:14.14 And I'm standing on the McConnell Bridge. 00:00:14.18\00:00:17.45 Now many people believe this bridge 00:00:17.48\00:00:19.81 is actually a perfect square, as long as it is wide. 00:00:19.85\00:00:23.42 But people who have measured it telling me that 00:00:23.45\00:00:25.92 it's actually five meters wider than it is long, 00:00:25.95\00:00:29.29 16 feet wider than it is long. 00:00:29.32\00:00:31.46 And so it has the distinction 00:00:31.49\00:00:34.63 of being the only bridge in Europe 00:00:34.66\00:00:36.10 that is actually wider than it's long, 00:00:36.13\00:00:37.53 just a little bit of trivia for you. 00:00:37.57\00:00:38.90 Next up, we traveled to Nigeria 00:00:38.93\00:00:40.84 to visit a Global Mission pioneer. 00:00:40.87\00:00:43.47 I am here at Babcock University with Victor. 00:00:43.51\00:00:47.38 Victor is a Global Mission pioneer 00:00:47.41\00:00:49.34 not too far away from here. 00:00:49.38\00:00:51.51 Victor became a Seventh-day Adventist 00:00:51.55\00:00:53.88 when he was 19 years old. 00:00:53.92\00:00:55.78 Victor, tell me the story. Tell me what happened. 00:00:55.82\00:00:58.15 How did you meet Seventh-day Adventists? 00:00:58.19\00:01:00.49 How did that happen? I'm proud to that. 00:01:00.52\00:01:02.86 I had never had any personal contact 00:01:02.89\00:01:05.33 with any Seventh-day Adventist or anything of that literature. 00:01:05.36\00:01:08.90 So by God, by His providence saved me. 00:01:08.93\00:01:12.53 I visit my cousins once in a while during my holidays, 00:01:12.57\00:01:16.81 I saw this Amazing Fact Bible study software 00:01:16.84\00:01:20.31 by Doug Batchelor, whom I hope to meet someday. 00:01:20.34\00:01:23.21 And I studied 24 lessons, 00:01:23.24\00:01:26.08 which is own personal story, with his own personal story. 00:01:26.11\00:01:30.25 And I can tell you, I needed no other evidence. 00:01:30.29\00:01:33.09 And that same week, 00:01:33.12\00:01:34.49 I worshiped with the Seventh-day 00:01:34.52\00:01:36.69 Adventist Church. 00:01:36.73\00:01:38.06 That was, I believe their own fellowship 00:01:38.09\00:01:40.60 on campus right there. 00:01:40.63\00:01:42.80 Interesting. 00:01:42.83\00:01:44.17 So how did you become a Global Mission pioneer? 00:01:44.20\00:01:46.94 Yeah. That was last year, 2017. 00:01:46.97\00:01:50.81 Okay. I had resigned from my job. 00:01:50.84\00:01:53.88 I was working at a bank, 00:01:53.91\00:01:55.34 and I was being pressed to do Saturday duties. 00:01:55.38\00:01:59.21 So I decided to leave. 00:01:59.25\00:02:01.18 I left and I was working in a school. 00:02:01.22\00:02:05.49 Before one of our elders in the church, 00:02:05.52\00:02:08.29 who works with the conference here decided 00:02:08.32\00:02:11.56 and started to encourage me to apply 00:02:11.59\00:02:13.50 for the open pioneering position. 00:02:13.53\00:02:16.63 So that was how I became a Global Mission pioneer. 00:02:16.67\00:02:20.24 Okay. Which I really love so much. 00:02:20.27\00:02:21.90 I really love Global... Okay. 00:02:21.94\00:02:23.27 Excellent. Excellent. 00:02:23.30\00:02:24.64 Now you are working not too far from here. 00:02:24.67\00:02:26.98 This is a project that has been going on for a little while. 00:02:27.01\00:02:30.35 But you came, 00:02:30.38\00:02:31.71 I think, you said a year ago, last year. 00:02:31.75\00:02:33.52 September, September 2017. 00:02:33.55\00:02:35.58 Tell me... You're starting a new church. 00:02:35.62\00:02:38.15 Tell me what does your day look like? 00:02:38.19\00:02:40.62 What do you do when you wake up in the morning 00:02:40.66\00:02:42.69 and what does a Global Mission pioneer, 00:02:42.72\00:02:45.06 at least in your case, 00:02:45.09\00:02:46.43 do during the day and during the week? 00:02:46.46\00:02:48.96 It sounds like you have a fairly structured program. 00:02:49.00\00:02:51.67 Yes. 00:02:51.70\00:02:53.03 We start our day by 6:00 we have devotionals together. 00:02:53.07\00:02:57.07 And you said we, 00:02:57.11\00:02:58.44 so there are four of you working? 00:02:58.47\00:02:59.81 Yeah, there are four of us. Four of you working as a team? 00:02:59.84\00:03:01.44 Four of us as a team. 00:03:01.48\00:03:02.81 We could woke up before that 00:03:02.84\00:03:04.58 to have your personal devotionals, 00:03:04.61\00:03:05.95 but by 6:10 everybody would assemble 00:03:05.98\00:03:09.08 at the sitting room then by 9:30 00:03:09.12\00:03:12.89 we go out for visitations and Bible studies, 00:03:12.92\00:03:16.09 then also by 3:30 in the evening, 00:03:16.12\00:03:18.33 we have visitations and Bible studies. 00:03:18.36\00:03:19.96 Okay. 00:03:20.00\00:03:21.33 When you say visitation, tell me what happens. 00:03:21.36\00:03:24.60 You go to a door, you knock on the door, 00:03:24.63\00:03:26.23 how does this work? 00:03:26.27\00:03:27.64 For a new contact, someone whom we never had 00:03:27.67\00:03:30.01 any previous contact, we start with prayers. 00:03:30.04\00:03:33.31 Africans love prayers. Let's pray with you. 00:03:33.34\00:03:35.24 Let's pray for business. 00:03:35.28\00:03:36.68 You see them saying, amen, amen, amen. 00:03:36.71\00:03:38.61 Okay. 00:03:38.65\00:03:39.98 So as time goes on, we introduce Bible Studies. 00:03:40.02\00:03:43.52 Okay. 00:03:43.55\00:03:44.89 Then later we will ask them, why don't you worship with us. 00:03:44.92\00:03:47.66 We have these prayer meetings on Wednesdays. 00:03:47.69\00:03:49.76 You can come and pray as well or Fridays... 00:03:49.79\00:03:51.13 About how long before you invite them like this? 00:03:51.16\00:03:54.40 It varies. 00:03:54.43\00:03:55.76 For some they are like the loamy soil. 00:03:55.80\00:03:58.73 Yeah. They easily grab the... 00:03:58.77\00:04:00.10 Yes, understand. I understand. 00:04:00.14\00:04:01.47 So it could be two weeks or one month 00:04:01.50\00:04:03.77 or there're some we're actually trying to invite right now 00:04:03.81\00:04:05.17 to the church. 00:04:05.21\00:04:06.54 Okay. Okay, good. 00:04:06.57\00:04:07.91 So then you invite them? Yes, we invite them in. 00:04:07.94\00:04:11.88 Presently now we have about 46 in average attendance. 00:04:11.91\00:04:15.92 Oh, okay. 00:04:15.95\00:04:17.29 That's a quite a jump for this project. 00:04:17.32\00:04:18.92 Yes. 00:04:18.95\00:04:20.29 'Cause they were quite a bit fewer than that. 00:04:20.32\00:04:22.02 18.5 as of January. Okay. 00:04:22.06\00:04:24.53 Then July... 00:04:24.56\00:04:25.89 This July we're having 46 as average attendance. 00:04:25.93\00:04:29.10 Wow. Okay. 00:04:29.13\00:04:31.03 And so that's on a weekly basis. 00:04:31.07\00:04:32.60 That's on Sabbath, yeah? Yeah, it's on Sabbath. 00:04:32.63\00:04:34.67 On Sabbath, yes. Wow. Okay. 00:04:34.70\00:04:36.94 Now there are some other things that you do. 00:04:36.97\00:04:38.51 You told me about 00:04:38.54\00:04:39.87 what happens on Wednesdays for you. 00:04:39.91\00:04:41.24 What happens on Wednesdays? 00:04:41.28\00:04:42.61 On Wednesdays, we use that day to rest. 00:04:42.64\00:04:44.51 You know, Jesus told disciples, "Tired and you rest a while." 00:04:44.55\00:04:48.55 Okay. 00:04:48.58\00:04:49.92 Sometimes out of zillions 00:04:49.95\00:04:52.22 or out of z we forget our bodies, our health. 00:04:52.25\00:04:56.49 We forget that our health is important. 00:04:56.52\00:04:58.19 So we use Wednesdays to fast and pray. 00:04:58.23\00:05:01.03 Okay. And rest simultaneously. 00:05:01.06\00:05:03.23 Pray for these souls, 00:05:03.26\00:05:04.60 pray for the progress of the church, 00:05:04.63\00:05:05.97 praying for our leaders, 00:05:06.00\00:05:07.34 the conference workers who employed us here. 00:05:07.37\00:05:10.14 Very good. And then Fridays what happens? 00:05:10.17\00:05:13.24 On Fridays, we have Bible studies 00:05:13.27\00:05:15.41 in the evenings. 00:05:15.44\00:05:16.78 But in the daytime, 00:05:16.81\00:05:18.15 we use that day time to reach out 00:05:18.18\00:05:19.61 to the younger to the students. 00:05:19.65\00:05:22.48 That's where I'm so passionate about 00:05:22.52\00:05:25.45 because I never had the privilege 00:05:25.49\00:05:27.26 of someone bringing the message to me. 00:05:27.29\00:05:29.52 I got converted at 19, 00:05:29.56\00:05:31.83 which I will say is too late that was 00:05:31.86\00:05:34.46 I would have had many years of experience 00:05:34.50\00:05:36.73 if I had gotten the message back then. 00:05:36.77\00:05:39.77 So I got when I'm 19, I said, I want each, 00:05:39.80\00:05:42.77 every use and contact needs, 00:05:42.80\00:05:45.11 not to have the kind of experience I had. 00:05:45.14\00:05:47.14 I see. 00:05:47.18\00:05:50.78 Global Mission pioneers 00:05:50.81\00:05:52.38 are funded by people who make donations. 00:05:52.41\00:05:56.62 They make gifts to send, 00:05:56.65\00:05:58.62 to help to pay Global Mission pioneers. 00:05:58.65\00:06:01.09 If you are going to say 00:06:01.12\00:06:02.79 something to the people that help you 00:06:02.82\00:06:07.30 to be a Global Mission pioneer by their funding, 00:06:07.33\00:06:09.66 what would you like to say to them? 00:06:09.70\00:06:11.13 Well, see, they have done one of the best is to me 00:06:11.17\00:06:15.14 because of the experiences I'm having, 00:06:15.17\00:06:17.54 the kind of experiences that Paul had, 00:06:17.57\00:06:19.34 I'm having and I feel so privileged. 00:06:19.37\00:06:21.11 I feel overwhelmed to be in this position. 00:06:21.14\00:06:24.28 So I will say thank you so much. 00:06:24.31\00:06:26.31 Thank you to the sponsors 00:06:26.35\00:06:27.98 and those who will contribute to these projects 00:06:28.02\00:06:32.19 because I know so many had contribution 00:06:32.22\00:06:33.56 as you said. 00:06:33.59\00:06:34.92 May God bless them. 00:06:34.96\00:06:36.29 Their efforts are being multiplied 00:06:36.32\00:06:38.99 in many forms. 00:06:39.03\00:06:41.06 And if they could pray for you, 00:06:41.10\00:06:42.86 what would be the best way that they could pray for you? 00:06:42.90\00:06:45.23 I would ask that let many embrace, 00:06:45.27\00:06:48.50 many of our members to embrace TMI in Nigeria. 00:06:48.54\00:06:51.71 We're having 300,000 Adventists, just had, 00:06:51.74\00:06:54.84 over 300,000 missionaries in Nigeria, 00:06:54.88\00:06:57.98 thing we're having a lesson that's about, 00:06:58.01\00:07:01.32 there'll be TMI in the coming years. 00:07:01.35\00:07:03.12 I want as many as possible to catch this visual, 00:07:03.15\00:07:07.26 to go at self supporting evangelists, missionaries, 00:07:07.29\00:07:10.63 let go lift up we're asking. 00:07:10.66\00:07:12.53 Of course, laborers are plenty, harvest are few, 00:07:12.56\00:07:15.23 because harvest is plenty, but laborers are few. 00:07:15.26\00:07:19.00 Thank you, Victor. 00:07:19.03\00:07:20.37 It was privileged spending this time with you here today. 00:07:20.40\00:07:23.30 It's just wonderful to meet the Global Mission pioneers 00:07:23.34\00:07:25.91 when I get a chance to do that. 00:07:25.94\00:07:27.31 There are so many that I never even get to meet. 00:07:27.34\00:07:29.61 So it's a real privilege for me to be able to do that. 00:07:29.64\00:07:32.05 So thank you for your work, 00:07:32.08\00:07:33.42 thank you for the dedication that you're showing. 00:07:33.45\00:07:38.29 And I just, I pray that 00:07:38.32\00:07:39.65 God is going to bless what you are doing. 00:07:39.69\00:07:42.72 Thank you so much 00:07:42.76\00:07:44.09 for spending this time with us today. 00:07:44.13\00:07:45.46 Thank you for praying for Victor 00:07:45.49\00:07:47.06 and his three other teammates 00:07:47.10\00:07:48.43 as they're planting this church that the Lord would bless them 00:07:48.46\00:07:51.03 that the Holy Spirit would be close. 00:07:51.07\00:07:52.53 I'm Jeff Scoggins from Mission 360°. 00:07:52.57\00:07:55.60 Next up, we traveled to Cyprus 00:07:55.64\00:07:57.44 to visit with two Adventist volunteers. 00:07:57.47\00:08:00.01 We want to make Jesus famous here. 00:08:04.28\00:08:07.12 This is our goal. 00:08:07.15\00:08:08.48 We want the people to see this place 00:08:08.52\00:08:11.05 as a place of refuge, 00:08:11.09\00:08:12.99 as a place where they can find a family, 00:08:13.02\00:08:16.09 as a place where they can find Jesus 00:08:16.12\00:08:19.19 or a peace in the midst of their storm. 00:08:19.23\00:08:22.80 See you. 00:08:22.83\00:08:24.50 Bye-bye. Bye-bye. 00:08:24.53\00:08:26.10 Elias and Melina left their home in Argentina 00:08:26.13\00:08:29.14 and moved to the Mediterranean island of Cyprus. 00:08:29.17\00:08:32.21 They became Adventist volunteers 00:08:32.24\00:08:34.34 and now manage a Global Mission urban center 00:08:34.38\00:08:36.71 of influence called Meeting Point. 00:08:36.75\00:08:39.71 When you are in Christ, 00:08:39.75\00:08:41.38 you are born as a missionary as well. 00:08:41.42\00:08:43.85 So that's why we decided to take this challenge 00:08:43.89\00:08:47.66 of being a missionary. 00:08:47.69\00:08:49.02 We're trying to give 00:08:49.06\00:08:50.39 all we have learned to serve others. 00:08:50.43\00:08:54.40 I think it's important to have the same method that Jesus had. 00:08:54.43\00:08:59.23 First, He related to the person, 00:08:59.27\00:09:01.64 saw their needs and then preached. 00:09:01.67\00:09:04.77 It's basically what we're trying to do, 00:09:04.81\00:09:06.98 use this method. 00:09:07.01\00:09:08.34 Following Christ method of ministry, 00:09:15.58\00:09:17.79 Elias and Melina go door to door 00:09:17.82\00:09:19.95 to find out what kind of programs 00:09:19.99\00:09:21.59 their neighbors are interested in, 00:09:21.62\00:09:23.32 then they can tailor their work to the needs of the community. 00:09:23.36\00:09:27.20 After just a few months in Cyprus, 00:09:27.23\00:09:29.26 the volunteers have started 00:09:29.30\00:09:30.63 a variety of programs at Meeting Point. 00:09:30.67\00:09:34.10 I give nutritional advice, therapeutic massages, 00:09:34.14\00:09:37.11 facial treatments, 00:09:37.14\00:09:38.67 and things to help me grow a little closer to the people. 00:09:38.71\00:09:43.14 These health programs give Elias and Melina 00:09:43.18\00:09:45.48 the opportunity to connect with people 00:09:45.51\00:09:47.68 who otherwise probably wouldn't walk 00:09:47.72\00:09:49.85 into an Adventist Church. 00:09:49.88\00:09:51.22 Although, many people on the island speak English, 00:09:57.33\00:09:59.93 Greek is even more widely spoken. 00:09:59.96\00:10:02.46 The greatest challenge here is the language. 00:10:02.50\00:10:05.07 That's why we are looking forward 00:10:05.10\00:10:06.53 to learn Greek as quickly as possible 00:10:06.57\00:10:08.80 in order to communicate better with people. 00:10:08.84\00:10:11.94 They found creative ways to communicate 00:10:11.97\00:10:13.58 with the Greek speaking visitors, 00:10:13.61\00:10:15.21 like using translation apps on their phones 00:10:15.24\00:10:17.45 or learning common Greek phrases. 00:10:17.48\00:10:19.75 When someone comes to Meeting Point, 00:10:19.78\00:10:21.52 they are greeted by a warm atmosphere, 00:10:21.55\00:10:23.85 refreshments, and books as they wait 00:10:23.89\00:10:26.45 for their health assessment. 00:10:26.49\00:10:28.56 After the assessment, visitors receive an evaluation 00:10:28.59\00:10:31.59 with lifestyle suggestions 00:10:31.63\00:10:33.33 and are encouraged to visit again 00:10:33.36\00:10:35.06 to follow up on their progress. 00:10:35.10\00:10:36.93 Meeting Point is also a place kids love. 00:10:36.97\00:10:40.24 Elias and Melina host a fun activity each week 00:10:40.27\00:10:43.34 and plan to expand the programs. 00:10:43.37\00:10:47.04 There will be a program for kids 00:10:47.08\00:10:48.81 where they will make crafts. 00:10:48.84\00:10:51.25 We will make crafts, follow recipes, 00:10:51.28\00:10:53.55 and playing games. 00:10:53.58\00:10:55.32 There's a fun part in a part where they learn something. 00:10:55.35\00:10:59.82 Today's activity involves 00:10:59.85\00:11:01.19 painting positive messages onto stones. 00:11:01.22\00:11:03.99 The kids love doing crafts like this. 00:11:04.03\00:11:06.70 But the real fun comes 00:11:06.73\00:11:08.06 when they give their creations away 00:11:08.10\00:11:09.50 to strangers on the street. 00:11:09.53\00:11:10.93 People love receiving these precious gifts. 00:11:19.64\00:11:22.51 The kids go home knowing that 00:11:22.54\00:11:23.95 they've spread some joy in the community. 00:11:23.98\00:11:26.41 But we are sure that God is blessing this activity 00:11:26.45\00:11:29.95 because we see the happiness in their faces 00:11:29.98\00:11:32.05 and we are sure that with time 00:11:32.09\00:11:34.39 and patience and love 00:11:34.42\00:11:36.22 and trying to show Jesus to them, 00:11:36.26\00:11:39.36 we will see many results. 00:11:39.39\00:11:40.73 Many people saved by this activity, 00:11:40.76\00:11:43.00 so this is something that makes us really happy. 00:11:43.03\00:11:47.20 Each Sabbath Elias and Melina 00:11:52.57\00:11:54.38 lead the worship service for the church plant 00:11:54.41\00:11:56.54 that gathers in Meeting Point. 00:11:56.58\00:11:58.55 Some of the people here attend regularly, 00:11:58.58\00:12:00.98 while others are just visiting. 00:12:01.02\00:12:03.42 Your prayers and mission offerings 00:12:03.45\00:12:05.39 have played a key role in making this happen. 00:12:05.42\00:12:08.62 I want to give our gratitude to the worldwide
