Welcome back to San Francisco. 00:00:03.23\00:00:05.03 And behind me, 00:00:05.07\00:00:06.40 you can see the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. 00:00:06.43\00:00:09.70 Next up, we traveled to Chiang Mai, Thailand 00:00:09.74\00:00:12.44 to hear Karen's story of a modern-day miracle. 00:00:12.47\00:00:16.04 Hey, kids. 00:00:16.08\00:00:17.41 I was wondering, 00:00:17.45\00:00:18.78 have you ever wondered 00:00:18.81\00:00:20.35 if God still does miracles like He used to in Bible times? 00:00:20.38\00:00:24.19 Does He? 00:00:24.22\00:00:25.59 Does He heal people like He used to? 00:00:25.62\00:00:27.46 Well, I used to wonder that too. 00:00:27.49\00:00:30.53 I went to India to do some evangelism. 00:00:30.56\00:00:32.86 And I was sitting in the airport, 00:00:32.89\00:00:35.16 waiting to come back, 00:00:35.20\00:00:36.53 we had had an amazing experience where, 00:00:36.56\00:00:38.87 at every evangelism site, 00:00:38.90\00:00:40.90 about 525 people had been baptized, 00:00:40.94\00:00:43.84 500, somewhere around there at each site. 00:00:43.87\00:00:46.64 And it had been absolutely an amazing experience. 00:00:46.68\00:00:50.28 But I'm sitting in the airport 00:00:50.31\00:00:51.65 and I am really sleepy, I'm tired. 00:00:51.68\00:00:53.65 And I'm afraid, 00:00:53.68\00:00:55.02 my flight doesn't leave for a long time, 00:00:55.05\00:00:56.38 I'm afraid I'm going to go to sleep 00:00:56.42\00:00:57.75 and miss my flight. 00:00:57.79\00:00:59.12 So I looked around to see 00:00:59.15\00:01:00.56 if anybody there might look like 00:01:00.59\00:01:02.59 they might speak English and might want to talk. 00:01:02.62\00:01:05.49 Well, I saw a gentleman sitting there 00:01:05.53\00:01:07.60 with red hair and blue eyes. 00:01:07.63\00:01:09.43 And I said, "Maybe he speaks English." 00:01:09.46\00:01:12.50 And so I went over there 00:01:12.53\00:01:14.04 and he told me an amazing story that I want to tell you today. 00:01:14.07\00:01:18.54 He was a pastor from Australia. 00:01:18.57\00:01:20.68 And he told me 00:01:20.71\00:01:22.04 that the first time he went to India, 00:01:22.08\00:01:24.78 he was preaching every night 00:01:24.81\00:01:26.41 and hundreds and hundreds of people were coming. 00:01:26.45\00:01:29.25 And as they came every night to learn about Jesus, 00:01:29.28\00:01:32.05 they had several baptisms. 00:01:32.09\00:01:33.92 They would go down to the river, 00:01:33.96\00:01:35.72 and they would baptize people and it was going fantastic. 00:01:35.76\00:01:39.49 But the last night, 00:01:39.53\00:01:40.93 he was picking up his computer, and his projector, 00:01:40.96\00:01:44.20 was getting ready to put it away, 00:01:44.23\00:01:46.10 all the people had gone away 00:01:46.13\00:01:47.47 when somebody stepped up on the stage 00:01:47.50\00:01:49.40 and he heard the words, Pastor, Pastor, 00:01:49.44\00:01:52.81 the only words this man knew in English, 00:01:52.84\00:01:54.48 he turned around, and he went, oh, 00:01:54.51\00:01:57.45 now usually you're not supposed to gasp 00:01:57.48\00:01:59.28 when you look at somebody, right? 00:01:59.31\00:02:01.15 But this man looked terrible. 00:02:01.18\00:02:03.12 He was a leper. 00:02:03.15\00:02:04.49 He had leprosy. 00:02:04.52\00:02:05.89 Have you heard of leprosy from the Bible? Yeah. 00:02:05.92\00:02:08.62 Well, he had leprosy, 00:02:08.66\00:02:10.03 and his nose had rotted off and fallen off his face. 00:02:10.06\00:02:13.09 And he had a big hole where his cheek used to be. 00:02:13.13\00:02:15.86 You could see his teeth moving up and down 00:02:15.90\00:02:17.80 when he talked. 00:02:17.83\00:02:19.17 He also didn't have any fingers or toes. 00:02:19.20\00:02:21.70 They had rotted and fell off of his, fallen off of his body. 00:02:21.74\00:02:24.64 And he smelled terrible. 00:02:24.67\00:02:27.28 But with the help of the translator, 00:02:27.31\00:02:28.98 he said to the pastor, 00:02:29.01\00:02:30.35 he says, "Pastor, would you please pray for me? 00:02:30.38\00:02:32.71 I've been coming every night, 00:02:32.75\00:02:34.08 and I sat behind that tree over there, 00:02:34.12\00:02:36.18 listening to the most wonderful news 00:02:36.22\00:02:39.02 I have ever heard in my life about a Jesus that loves me. 00:02:39.05\00:02:43.02 Yes, me, even me, a leper. 00:02:43.06\00:02:45.73 And I would like to ask you 00:02:45.76\00:02:47.36 to pray to God for three things. 00:02:47.40\00:02:50.07 Number one, 00:02:50.10\00:02:51.43 that God would heal my fingers. 00:02:51.47\00:02:53.90 Because you see, 00:02:53.94\00:02:55.27 I want a Bible 00:02:55.30\00:02:56.64 and if God would heal my fingers, 00:02:56.67\00:02:58.84 I would be able to turn the pages of the Bible, 00:02:58.87\00:03:02.11 and that God would give me a Bible, 00:03:02.14\00:03:04.58 and that God would teach me how to read." 00:03:04.61\00:03:09.15 And the pastor said, 00:03:09.18\00:03:10.52 "Wow, 00:03:10.55\00:03:11.89 I don't think I've ever prayed for a leper before. 00:03:11.92\00:03:13.92 I'm not sure what to expect, but okay." 00:03:13.96\00:03:16.29 So he prayed for this man and you know what? 00:03:16.32\00:03:19.29 When he opened his eyes, 00:03:19.33\00:03:20.66 the man looked exactly the same. 00:03:20.70\00:03:22.76 And the pastor felt really guilty. 00:03:22.80\00:03:25.13 And the devil whispered in the pastor's ear, 00:03:25.17\00:03:27.04 you know how sometimes we're tempted? 00:03:27.07\00:03:28.67 And the devil said to him, 00:03:28.70\00:03:30.04 ha, you're the only Christian he knows. 00:03:30.07\00:03:32.94 The Bible says that if you had as much faith 00:03:32.97\00:03:35.54 as a little tiny mustard seed, 00:03:35.58\00:03:37.35 you can tell that mountain over there to move, 00:03:37.38\00:03:39.48 and it would move. 00:03:39.51\00:03:40.95 You're the first Christian he's ever met. 00:03:40.98\00:03:43.18 And you don't have enough faith to heal him. 00:03:43.22\00:03:46.09 Oh, well, first of all children, 00:03:46.12\00:03:48.06 we never heal anybody, do we? 00:03:48.09\00:03:49.62 That would be Jesus' job, right? 00:03:49.66\00:03:51.86 But the pastor felt so bad. 00:03:51.89\00:03:53.86 Maybe he didn't have enough faith. 00:03:53.90\00:03:56.00 Oh, dear. 00:03:56.03\00:03:57.53 But he said to the man, "Can I take your picture? 00:03:57.57\00:03:59.97 I'll print it out and look at it every day 00:04:00.00\00:04:02.40 to pray for you." 00:04:02.44\00:04:03.77 The man said, "Yes." 00:04:03.81\00:04:05.14 So he took the man's picture. He went home to Australia. 00:04:05.17\00:04:09.21 He printed it out, put it on the refrigerator door 00:04:09.24\00:04:11.41 with some magnets, 00:04:11.45\00:04:12.78 and every day 00:04:12.81\00:04:14.15 when he got his milk out for his breakfast, 00:04:14.18\00:04:16.05 he would see that face looking back at him 00:04:16.08\00:04:17.85 and he would pray for him. 00:04:17.89\00:04:19.79 Finally, two years went by. 00:04:19.82\00:04:21.86 And the pastor had a chance to go back to India again 00:04:21.89\00:04:24.36 to do evangelism again. 00:04:24.39\00:04:26.43 And he wanted to see the people 00:04:26.46\00:04:28.06 that he had baptized the time before, 00:04:28.10\00:04:29.86 but he was going to be 100 kilometers away 00:04:29.90\00:04:32.53 from where he had been the time before. 00:04:32.57\00:04:34.14 And he was afraid if he told him he was coming, 00:04:34.17\00:04:36.54 maybe he wouldn't have enough time to go see them. 00:04:36.57\00:04:38.64 So he thought, I'm not going to tell them. 00:04:38.67\00:04:40.14 I'm just going to show up as a surprise 00:04:40.18\00:04:41.91 when I get some free time. 00:04:41.94\00:04:43.85 And so, he decided to do exactly that. 00:04:43.88\00:04:47.62 So he got on the airplane, he went to India, 00:04:47.65\00:04:49.62 he preached a meeting. 00:04:49.65\00:04:50.99 But you know what? 00:04:51.02\00:04:52.35 There was even more people at that meeting 00:04:52.39\00:04:54.06 than there had ever been at the other meeting. 00:04:54.09\00:04:56.52 And so he didn't have enough time 00:04:56.56\00:04:59.03 to go see the first village 00:04:59.06\00:05:01.06 because it was about 100 kilometers. 00:05:01.10\00:05:02.56 That's quite a ways. 00:05:02.60\00:05:04.00 So the last night 00:05:04.03\00:05:05.37 he's putting away his stuff again, 00:05:05.40\00:05:06.90 inside this huge tent that they had pitched. 00:05:06.94\00:05:09.80 And he was putting stuff away 00:05:09.84\00:05:11.17 when he heard somebody running from outside. 00:05:11.21\00:05:13.38 He thought, "That's strange. 00:05:13.41\00:05:14.74 I wonder who is here. 00:05:14.78\00:05:16.24 " And before he could turn around, 00:05:16.28\00:05:17.61 somebody gave him a big sweaty hug. 00:05:17.65\00:05:20.75 That really surprised him. 00:05:20.78\00:05:22.52 Because in India, in that section of India, 00:05:22.55\00:05:24.82 nobody hugs anybody. 00:05:24.85\00:05:26.59 So he was very surprised that he got a hug. 00:05:26.62\00:05:28.82 He turned around and he said, "Ah, hi." 00:05:28.86\00:05:32.16 And the man said, "Pastor, Pastor," 00:05:32.19\00:05:34.13 he called over his translator, 00:05:34.16\00:05:35.66 "Do you remember me?" 00:05:35.70\00:05:37.07 He looked at the man. 00:05:37.10\00:05:38.43 He said, "No, I've never seen you before." 00:05:38.47\00:05:40.10 "Oh, Pastor, look at my eyes. 00:05:40.14\00:05:42.34 Do you remember me?" 00:05:42.37\00:05:44.44 Pastor said, "You know, it's very strange. 00:05:44.47\00:05:46.64 I do recognize your eyes, but not your face. 00:05:46.68\00:05:49.58 I don't know why, I'm so sorry." 00:05:49.61\00:05:52.35 The man says, "But, Pastor, I'm the leper." 00:05:52.38\00:05:55.32 And the pastor knew he was telling him the truth, 00:05:55.35\00:05:57.29 because those were the same eyes 00:05:57.32\00:05:58.89 that looked at him 00:05:58.92\00:06:00.26 from the refrigerator door every day. 00:06:00.29\00:06:01.76 He said, "Oh, my, what happened?" 00:06:01.79\00:06:03.73 He said, "Well, I went back to my village. 00:06:03.76\00:06:06.39 And when I went back to my village, 00:06:06.43\00:06:08.16 I told them about Jesus. 00:06:08.20\00:06:09.76 And I told them about Jesus every single night, 00:06:09.80\00:06:12.50 for a whole week for about an hour every night. 00:06:12.53\00:06:14.50 And then I ran out of stuff to say, 00:06:14.54\00:06:16.47 I couldn't remember anything else. 00:06:16.50\00:06:18.01 And so somebody said, 00:06:18.04\00:06:19.37 "Can't you remember anything else?" 00:06:19.41\00:06:20.74 He said, "No. 00:06:20.78\00:06:22.11 " Well, where could you find out 00:06:22.14\00:06:23.48 more about this Jesus? 00:06:23.51\00:06:24.85 He said, "Well, 00:06:24.88\00:06:26.21 if somebody would buy me a Bible, 00:06:26.25\00:06:27.88 that's God's book, 00:06:27.92\00:06:29.28 I could read you lots more stories 00:06:29.32\00:06:31.09 and tell you a lot more things about Jesus. 00:06:31.12\00:06:33.46 But I don't have any money." 00:06:33.49\00:06:35.29 And somebody said, "Really? 00:06:35.32\00:06:37.13 How are you going to read?" 00:06:37.16\00:06:39.49 And he said, the guy said, "You don't go to school. 00:06:39.53\00:06:42.10 None of us have gone to school in this little village. 00:06:42.13\00:06:44.67 We don't know how to read." 00:06:44.70\00:06:46.03 He said, "But the God of heaven is all powerful, 00:06:46.07\00:06:48.40 and He will teach me how to read. 00:06:48.44\00:06:50.14 So if you will buy me a Bible, I will read it to you." 00:06:50.17\00:06:54.01 "Really" said a lady, 00:06:54.04\00:06:55.61 "Well, if this God is so powerful, 00:06:55.64\00:06:58.38 how come you still have leprosy?" 00:06:58.41\00:07:00.92 Hmm. 00:07:00.95\00:07:02.28 He didn't know what to say. He thought about it. 00:07:02.32\00:07:04.15 And he said, "Oh, 00:07:04.19\00:07:05.75 because you see, 00:07:05.79\00:07:07.12 it's not essential that I be healed. 00:07:07.16\00:07:09.62 But it's essential that you know about Jesus. 00:07:09.66\00:07:12.19 So if you get me a Bible, 00:07:12.23\00:07:14.16 I will learn how to read 00:07:14.20\00:07:15.96 because the God of heaven is going to teach me." 00:07:16.00\00:07:18.30 A little old man said, "Okay." 00:07:18.33\00:07:19.90 He says, "I'm going to go, 00:07:19.93\00:07:21.50 and I'm going to go to the big city tomorrow, 00:07:21.54\00:07:23.34 I'm going to take all my life savings, 00:07:23.37\00:07:25.34 and I'm going to buy a Bible. 00:07:25.37\00:07:26.91 I sure hope you know how to read." 00:07:26.94\00:07:29.31 So he did. He went to the big city. 00:07:29.34\00:07:31.65 It took him all day to find a Bible. 00:07:31.68\00:07:33.55 They wanted to sell him a Quran, 00:07:33.58\00:07:35.45 and other important religious books, 00:07:35.48\00:07:38.25 but that are not Bibles. 00:07:38.29\00:07:39.85 And they don't tell us that much about Jesus. 00:07:39.89\00:07:42.42 And so finally he found the Bible, 00:07:42.46\00:07:44.43 he brought it back. 00:07:44.46\00:07:45.79 The little leper was waiting for him, 00:07:45.83\00:07:47.66 he gave him the Bible and he said, 00:07:47.70\00:07:49.10 "I sure hope you can read." 00:07:49.13\00:07:51.17 While the little leper had seen street signs, 00:07:51.20\00:07:53.17 you know how you see street signs 00:07:53.20\00:07:54.54 that says the name of the street, 00:07:54.57\00:07:55.90 but he didn't know what those letters meant. 00:07:55.94\00:07:57.77 He opened the Bible. 00:07:57.81\00:07:59.14 He says, Pastor, you know where it opened to? 00:07:59.17\00:08:01.78 It's now my favorite text. 00:08:01.81\00:08:03.14 I don't know. 00:08:03.18\00:08:04.51 But it's the first time I ever read it. 00:08:04.55\00:08:05.88 It said, "For God so loved the world, 00:08:05.91\00:08:09.28 that He gave His only begotten Son 00:08:09.32\00:08:11.45 that whosoever believes in Him 00:08:11.49\00:08:13.59 should not perish but have everlasting life." 00:08:13.62\00:08:16.52 Whosoever pastor includes people like me, 00:08:16.56\00:08:19.79 and he says, "I don't know how I could read, 00:08:19.83\00:08:21.76 I just could. 00:08:21.80\00:08:23.37 " And he said, "The little man got so excited. 00:08:23.40\00:08:25.33 He ran through the village yelling, 00:08:25.37\00:08:27.00 'he can read, he can read,' 00:08:27.04\00:08:29.00 and he woke up people and they came out.'" 00:08:29.04\00:08:30.81 And he says, "I read to them for about an hour. 00:08:30.84\00:08:32.51 We started in Genesis, and I read them about creation. 00:08:32.54\00:08:35.51 And, Pastor, 00:08:35.54\00:08:36.88 we've read every night for about an hour. 00:08:36.91\00:08:38.71 We've read through the Bible more than once. 00:08:38.75\00:08:40.85 And the other day, 00:08:40.88\00:08:42.22 we heard that the red-haired pastor was back. 00:08:42.25\00:08:45.62 "So I was wondering, Pastor, if you would baptize us." 00:08:45.65\00:08:50.06 "Us" said the pastor. 00:08:50.09\00:08:51.83 He said, "Yes, Pastor, as I kept reading the Bible, 00:08:51.86\00:08:54.90 my nose grew back, my cheek filled in, 00:08:54.93\00:08:57.67 my fingers came back, I don't know how. 00:08:57.70\00:09:00.27 But I went to see a doctor. 00:09:00.30\00:09:01.64 And he said that I'm no longer a leper. 00:09:01.67\00:09:04.01 And he couldn't believe it, 00:09:04.04\00:09:05.37 because none of his gods 00:09:05.41\00:09:06.74 have ever done anything like that for him before. 00:09:06.78\00:09:08.38 And I told him, 00:09:08.41\00:09:09.74 "It's because the God of heaven 00:09:09.78\00:09:11.11 is, of course, the greatest God 00:09:11.15\00:09:12.48 and that's why He is the only true God 00:09:12.51\00:09:14.52 and that's why I was healed. 00:09:14.55\00:09:16.32 And so, Pastor, we've been reading every night 00:09:16.35\00:09:18.32 and there's 25 people outside the tent, 00:09:18.35\00:09:20.92 Pastor, that want to get baptized. 00:09:20.96\00:09:22.42 We've been walking day and night to get here. 00:09:22.46\00:09:24.86 Would you baptize us?" 00:09:24.89\00:09:27.30 And that night, boys and girls, 00:09:27.33\00:09:30.57 that previous leper 00:09:30.60\00:09:32.17 and 25 people from his village got baptized, 00:09:32.20\00:09:36.47 because the God of heaven hasn't changed a bit 00:09:36.50\00:09:41.68 since Bible times. 00:09:41.71\00:09:43.31 God can do the same through you. 00:09:43.35\00:09:46.18 Don't ever say you're too young. 00:09:46.21\00:09:49.55 While we're still in San Francisco 00:09:49.58\00:09:51.09 and behind me here, 00:09:51.12\00:09:52.85 you can see these California sea lions, 00:09:52.89\00:09:55.69 where you can see them you can possibly hear them, 00:09:55.72\00:09:58.56 but lucky for you, you can't smell them. 00:09:58.59\00:10:00.96 Well next up, we're traveling to Brazil. 00:10:01.00\00:10:03.06 And we're going to meet Juliana 00:10:03.10\00:10:04.47 who gave up her birthday cake 00:10:04.50\00:10:06.47 so that she can help feed the homeless in her city. 00:10:06.50\00:10:10.14 Mom didn't expect 00:10:10.17\00:10:11.51 Juliana to refuse a cake for her 11th birthday. 00:10:11.54\00:10:14.64 "I want to bake you a chocolate cake, 00:10:14.68\00:10:17.11 " mom said a few days before Juliana's birthday. 00:10:17.15\00:10:20.05 "No, thank you," Juliana said. 00:10:20.08\00:10:22.35 Mom looked surprised. 00:10:22.38\00:10:24.12 "Why not?" 00:10:24.15\00:10:25.49 she said. 00:10:25.52\00:10:26.86 "I want to feed the homeless people 00:10:26.89\00:10:28.22 rather than have a cake," 00:10:28.26\00:10:29.59 Juliana said, 00:10:29.62\00:10:30.96 "Let's make soup for the homeless." 00:10:30.99\00:10:33.06 Juliana had seen a crowd of homeless people 00:10:33.09\00:10:35.30 sleeping at the bus stop 00:10:35.33\00:10:36.67 when she and mom had gone out 00:10:36.70\00:10:38.03 and she couldn't stop thinking about them. 00:10:38.07\00:10:40.74 "It's too difficult and too much work," 00:10:40.77\00:10:43.10 mom said, 00:10:43.14\00:10:44.47 "it would cost too much money for the ingredients. 00:10:44.51\00:10:46.57 We also don't have a big pot to cook enough soup." 00:10:46.61\00:10:50.05 But Juliana wasn't discouraged. 00:10:50.08\00:10:52.75 "I want to give soup to the homeless," 00:10:52.78\00:10:54.92 she insisted. 00:10:54.95\00:10:56.28 This is the work of God. 00:10:56.32\00:10:58.42 Juliana had learned about God 00:10:58.45\00:11:00.16 at a Seventh-day Adventist Church in Salvador, Brazil. 00:11:00.19\00:11:03.63 She first went to the church 00:11:03.66\00:11:04.99 because she wanted to join its Pathfinder club. 00:11:05.03\00:11:07.33 She had seen a neighborhood friend 00:11:07.36\00:11:08.70 wearing the Pathfinder uniform, 00:11:08.73\00:11:10.57 so she wanted to be a Pathfinder too. 00:11:10.60\00:11:12.77 A little while after she joined the club, 00:11:12.80\00:11:14.77 she gave her heart to Jesus and was baptized. 00:11:14.80\00:11:17.97 Mom was glad that Juliana loved God, 00:11:18.01\00:11:20.48 but she wasn't interested in going to church. 00:11:20.51\00:11:23.21 After mom said 00:11:23.24\00:11:24.58 she couldn't cook soup without a big pot, 00:11:24.61\00:11:26.28 Juliana visited some of her Adventist neighbors 00:11:26.31\00:11:28.58 and asked if they had a big pot that she could borrow. 00:11:28.62\00:11:31.52 Two neighbors gave her big pots and she brought them home 00:11:31.55\00:11:34.99 three days before her birthday. 00:11:35.02\00:11:37.09 But she still didn't have the ingredients for the soup. 00:11:37.13\00:11:40.06 The matter seemed hopeless. 00:11:40.10\00:11:41.76 So Juliana prayed, 00:11:41.80\00:11:43.57 "God please give me wisdom and touch mom's heart 00:11:43.60\00:11:47.14 to allow me to make soup for the homeless." 00:11:47.17\00:11:50.87 The next day, 00:11:50.91\00:11:52.24 Juliana gingerly asked mom again 00:11:52.27\00:11:54.48 whether she could make soup for the homeless. 00:11:54.51\00:11:56.85 Mom got angry. 00:11:56.88\00:11:58.78 "Go to the store 00:11:58.81\00:12:00.15 and ask for them to donate the food for the soup," 00:12:00.18\00:12:02.15 she replied. 00:12:02.18\00:12:03.52 She secretly hoped that Juliana would be too shy 00:12:03.55\00:12:06.09 to go to the store. 00:12:06.12\00:12:07.52 But Juliana happily skipped to the neighborhood store 00:12:07.56\00:12:10.43 praying, "Thank you God for answering my prayer." 00:12:10.46\00:12:14.10 At the store, 00:12:14.13\00:12:15.46 she told the manager about her desire 00:12:15.50\00:12:16.83 to make soup for the homeless 00:12:16.87\00:12:18.33 and asked if he would donate the ingredients. 00:12:18.37\00:12:20.87 He told her to return the next day. 00:12:20.90\00:12:24.17 Juliana went to several other stores 00:12:24.21\00:12:26.27 with the same request. 00:12:26.31\00:12:27.64 But all the managers also told her 00:12:27.68\00:12:29.14 to return the next day. 00:12:29.18\00:12:30.88 She visited her Adventist neighbors again 00:12:30.91\00:12:33.15 and they promised to bring over some vegetables. 00:12:33.18\00:12:36.32 The day before Juliana's birthday, 00:12:36.35\00:12:38.22 she stopped at the first grocery store 00:12:38.25\00:12:39.89 after school. 00:12:39.92\00:12:41.26 The manager gave her a huge bag of vegetables. 00:12:41.29\00:12:44.49 The other stores 00:12:44.53\00:12:45.86 and her Adventist neighbors also gave her food 00:12:45.89\00:12:47.56 as they said they would. 00:12:47.60\00:12:49.16 Mom was shocked 00:12:49.20\00:12:50.53 when she saw bags of onions, chili peppers, potatoes, 00:12:50.57\00:12:54.10 carrots, pumpkins, corn, spices 00:12:54.14\00:12:56.84 and other ingredients for soup. 00:12:56.87\00:12:59.14 "What is all this?" 00:12:59.17\00:13:00.68 she asked. 00:13:00.71\00:13:02.04 "These are the ingredients for the soup 00:13:02.08\00:13:03.58 that you're going to make, 00:13:03.61\00:13:05.08 " Juliana beamed and showed mom the two big pots 00:13:05.11\00:13:07.78 that she had borrowed. 00:13:07.82\00:13:10.05 Mom was amazed at Juliana's determination 00:13:10.09\00:13:12.69 to help the homeless. 00:13:12.72\00:13:14.26 With the help of several Adventist women, 00:13:14.29\00:13:16.69 they made the soup. 00:13:16.73\00:13:18.39 On her birthday 00:13:18.43\00:13:19.76 Juliana put on her Pathfinder uniform 00:13:19.79\00:13:21.93 and with her friends and mom 00:13:21.96\00:13:23.70 they loaded the two big pots of soup into a car. 00:13:23.73\00:13:27.04 When they arrived at a bus stop 00:13:27.07\00:13:28.74 where some homeless people sat, 00:13:28.77\00:13:30.64 a friend announced, 00:13:30.67\00:13:32.01 "Today is Juliana's birthday 00:13:32.04\00:13:34.11 and she has made soup for you." 00:13:34.14\00:13:36.54 The homeless people were delighted. 00:13:36.58\00:13:38.58 Everyone formed a circle around Juliana and clapped 00:13:38.61\00:13:41.72 and sang Happy Birthday to her. 00:13:41.75\00:13:45.45 Mom felt ashamed 00:13:45.49\00:13:46.99 that she hadn't wanted to help the homeless. 00:13:47.02\00:13:49.76 She realized that Juliana was filled with the love of God 00:13:49.79\00:13:53.46 and she wanted to be filled with God's love too. 00:13:53.50\00:13:56.50 Two months after Juliana's birthday, 00:13:56.53\00:13:58.90 mom was baptized. 00:13:58.93\00:14:00.50 Today, Juliana, mom 00:14:03.54\00:14:05.77 and several other church members 00:14:05.81\00:14:07.38 go out twice a month 00:14:07.41\00:14:08.74 to feed the homeless and share God's blessings. 00:14:08.78\00:14:12.41 You can give to this quarter's 13 Sabbath Offering 00:14:12.45\00:14:15.62 part of which will help open a place 00:14:15.65\00:14:17.52 in Juliana's city, Salvador, Brazil 00:14:17.55\00:14:20.06 where people can take Bible studies 00:14:20.09\00:14:21.82 and healthy cooking classes. 00:14:21.86\00:14:23.66 Think about ways 00:14:23.69\00:14:25.03 that you too can help people in need in your community. 00:14:25.06\00:14:28.03 Thank you for your mission offering. 00:14:28.06\00:14:31.03 Well, that's just about it for today's program. 00:14:44.21\00:14:46.85 And thanks so much for joining us. 00:14:46.88\00:14:48.85 It's just so encouraging 00:14:48.88\00:14:50.22 to see young kids involved in mission. 00:14:50.25\00:14:52.82 I love the story of the girl in Brazil 00:14:52.85\00:14:55.69 and that little boy in the Solomon Islands. 00:14:55.72\00:14:58.09 What an amazing thing. 00:14:58.13\00:14:59.46 It was just so natural to him to share his faith 00:14:59.49\00:15:02.33 and start a new group of believers. 00:15:02.36\00:15:04.60 But I want to thank you 00:15:04.63\00:15:05.97 for being a part of Adventist Mission. 00:15:06.00\00:15:07.40 I want to thank you 00:15:07.44\00:15:08.77 for the way that you support through your prayers, 00:15:08.80\00:15:10.87 your offerings, 00:15:10.91\00:15:12.24 and also through your personal involvement. 00:15:12.27\00:15:14.74 Well, for Adventist Mission, I'm Gary Krause, 00:15:14.78\00:15:16.54 and I hope that next time, 00:15:16.58\00:15:18.01 you can join me right here on Mission 360. 00:15:18.05\00:15:20.98
