Welcome back to Nigeria. 00:00:10.37\00:00:11.94 In 1959, 00:00:11.97\00:00:13.31 when the Adventist college of West Africa was established, 00:00:13.34\00:00:16.14 this was the first building on campus 00:00:16.18\00:00:18.85 and it was the cafeteria. 00:00:18.88\00:00:20.42 They had their priorities right. 00:00:20.45\00:00:22.32 At the time the government required them 00:00:22.35\00:00:23.89 to expand before they could be accredited. 00:00:23.92\00:00:26.49 And thanks to the faithful offerings given, 00:00:26.52\00:00:29.46 the 13th Sabbath Offerings 00:00:29.49\00:00:31.06 of church members around the world, 00:00:31.09\00:00:32.89 it was able to expand into Babcock University. 00:00:32.93\00:00:36.53 Next up, let's travel to Southeast India 00:00:36.56\00:00:39.40 to learn more about mission there. 00:00:39.43\00:00:41.30 Today, we are in India 00:00:52.58\00:00:53.95 and we have the privilege 00:00:53.98\00:00:55.32 of talking with one of the mission leaders here 00:00:55.35\00:00:57.72 in this territory, 00:00:57.75\00:00:59.09 Pastor Masih. 00:00:59.12\00:01:00.72 Pastor Masih, thank you very much 00:01:00.76\00:01:02.26 for being here with us today. 00:01:02.29\00:01:03.63 Thank you very much. 00:01:03.66\00:01:04.99 Pastor Massey, 00:01:05.03\00:01:06.36 this is a very diverse territory. 00:01:06.39\00:01:08.23 Can you describe a little bit about this place, 00:01:08.26\00:01:11.07 the people and the backgrounds present here? 00:01:11.10\00:01:13.74 Well, Southern Asia Division has a... 00:01:13.77\00:01:16.57 Under division we have four countries, 00:01:16.60\00:01:19.81 India, Nepal, Bhutan, and Maldives. 00:01:19.84\00:01:25.31 And India, we, Christians are just 2.3% 00:01:25.35\00:01:29.98 and Nepal is less than that, 00:01:30.02\00:01:31.75 and very few members in Bhutan, 00:01:31.79\00:01:35.39 and it's a very less work we have in Andaman Island. 00:01:35.42\00:01:40.50 So this division, they speak different languages. 00:01:40.53\00:01:46.07 They have different challenges, 00:01:46.10\00:01:48.57 but God has been good to us. 00:01:48.60\00:01:50.41 Work is great. 00:01:50.44\00:01:52.17 I'm sure, like in the rest of the world, 00:01:52.21\00:01:54.78 there are some challenges for mission. 00:01:54.81\00:01:57.45 Can you describe 00:01:57.48\00:01:58.81 what are the specific challenges here in India, 00:01:58.85\00:02:01.48 Bhutan, Maldives and Nepal? 00:02:01.52\00:02:03.75 Yes. 00:02:03.79\00:02:05.12 I would like to tell you, 00:02:05.15\00:02:06.49 we have a lot of challenges here, 00:02:06.52\00:02:08.52 especially challenges this that we are in minority 00:02:08.56\00:02:13.40 and other religions 00:02:13.43\00:02:16.56 they don't allow us to spread the gospel. 00:02:16.60\00:02:19.80 Many times they create problem for us. 00:02:19.83\00:02:22.90 And a second challenge I feel that there are, 00:02:22.94\00:02:28.04 people are not very educated, 00:02:28.08\00:02:30.45 so they are less educated people. 00:02:30.48\00:02:33.18 They are not as receptive 00:02:33.21\00:02:34.88 so we face the problem like this. 00:02:34.92\00:02:38.05 I'm sure there are some beautiful stories 00:02:38.09\00:02:40.86 happening here 00:02:40.89\00:02:42.22 on how the Adventist Church has been reaching people. 00:02:42.26\00:02:46.03 Do you have some special story to share with us today? 00:02:46.06\00:02:48.86 Yes, I would like to share my own story 00:02:48.90\00:02:51.73 how God helped us in our work. 00:02:51.77\00:02:54.27 There was two girls, Adventist girls, 00:02:54.30\00:02:56.87 they married to non-Adventist and after some time, 00:02:56.91\00:03:00.01 one of our pastor, 00:03:00.04\00:03:01.74 he went there and talked to these two girls 00:03:01.78\00:03:05.81 who were married to non-Adventist. 00:03:05.85\00:03:07.65 They said, 00:03:07.68\00:03:09.02 "Can we hold the evangelist meeting here?" 00:03:09.05\00:03:11.55 And they were very happy one, 00:03:11.59\00:03:13.12 but their husbands, they were not happy. 00:03:13.15\00:03:15.56 They were not very receptive. 00:03:15.59\00:03:18.99 They were finding some excuses. 00:03:19.03\00:03:22.40 So later on, they agreed. 00:03:22.43\00:03:24.80 So after some time 00:03:24.83\00:03:26.17 we started meeting in that village, 00:03:26.20\00:03:29.07 for two days meeting was going on well, 00:03:29.10\00:03:31.41 there was no problem at all. 00:03:31.44\00:03:33.41 Third day, some of the young people, 00:03:33.44\00:03:35.28 they came with the long sticks 00:03:35.31\00:03:40.65 and this, they disturbed our meeting. 00:03:40.68\00:03:43.69 And later on, they said, 00:03:43.72\00:03:45.05 "We don't want that, 00:03:45.09\00:03:46.42 you shouldn't continue holding meeting here." 00:03:46.45\00:03:48.59 And one of the boy, grown up boy, 00:03:48.62\00:03:50.96 he came and hit our projector. 00:03:50.99\00:03:52.96 Our projector was broken 00:03:52.99\00:03:55.16 and we were very much disrupted. 00:03:55.20\00:03:57.33 Then same day, we have to wind up our meeting. 00:03:57.37\00:03:59.97 Next day, we went to the head of the village 00:04:00.00\00:04:02.64 and we told him all the story. 00:04:02.67\00:04:04.04 And we said, 00:04:04.07\00:04:05.41 "We are telling, 00:04:05.44\00:04:06.78 we are preaching here the Word of God, 00:04:06.81\00:04:09.18 how they can live good life." 00:04:09.21\00:04:10.88 And head of the village he promised with us. 00:04:10.91\00:04:13.68 He said, 00:04:13.72\00:04:15.05 "Okay, you can go ahead with your meeting from today 00:04:15.08\00:04:18.12 and nobody will come and disturb you." 00:04:18.15\00:04:20.92 God helped us. 00:04:20.96\00:04:22.29 We continued our meeting for 15 days. 00:04:22.32\00:04:25.09 And after 15 days we got precious 22 souls. 00:04:25.13\00:04:29.80 And now we have a very good church there. 00:04:29.83\00:04:32.23 This is how sometime we get disturbed 00:04:32.27\00:04:34.50 when meetings are going on, 00:04:34.54\00:04:36.24 when people are working 00:04:36.27\00:04:40.68 and some of the people they disturb us. 00:04:40.71\00:04:44.05 Yes. 00:04:44.08\00:04:45.41 Yes. That's beautiful. 00:04:45.45\00:04:47.22 I'm sure God has a dream and a plan 00:04:47.25\00:04:50.09 to reach many more souls. 00:04:50.12\00:04:51.72 Yes. 00:04:51.75\00:04:53.09 What are your dreams 00:04:53.12\00:04:54.46 and your goals for this territory? 00:04:54.49\00:04:56.49 Well, my goal as a leader in the church, 00:04:56.52\00:05:00.16 I want that, 00:05:00.20\00:05:01.53 people should get the gospel and they improve their life. 00:05:01.56\00:05:06.47 They have their relationship with God, 00:05:06.50\00:05:09.87 first relationship with God. 00:05:09.90\00:05:11.81 And the way we are adopting is 00:05:11.84\00:05:14.38 we are trying to involve 00:05:14.41\00:05:16.04 all of our members in God's work. 00:05:16.08\00:05:19.18 And many of our members, 00:05:19.21\00:05:21.38 they are excited with this program. 00:05:21.42\00:05:23.49 I'm sure that they will participate. 00:05:23.52\00:05:26.99 We are adopting many ways 00:05:27.02\00:05:28.72 how they can participate in God's work. 00:05:28.76\00:05:31.79 That's beautiful. 00:05:31.83\00:05:33.19 Thank you, Pastor Masih. 00:05:33.23\00:05:34.56 And I'm sure God has many, many blessings 00:05:34.60\00:05:37.63 for this territory. 00:05:37.67\00:05:39.00 Thank you very much. Thank you. 00:05:39.03\00:05:40.37 But I want all of you 00:05:40.40\00:05:41.74 and the whole Adventist Church should pray for India, 00:05:41.77\00:05:44.21 because there's great challenges are there 00:05:44.24\00:05:47.71 and it... 00:05:47.74\00:05:49.08 We can be successful when all of our people, 00:05:49.11\00:05:51.91 they pray to God and God will help, 00:05:51.95\00:05:55.05 and we will be able to spread the gospel in this territory. 00:05:55.08\00:06:00.32 Wonderful. 00:06:00.36\00:06:01.69 Pastor Masih, 00:06:01.72\00:06:03.06 may God bless your work here in India. 00:06:03.09\00:06:06.03 And I'm sure He will. 00:06:06.06\00:06:07.40 Thank you very much. 00:06:07.43\00:06:08.76 God bless you also, bless your ministry. 00:06:08.80\00:06:11.20 And you take our message to around the world 00:06:11.23\00:06:14.60 and people pray for us. 00:06:14.64\00:06:16.50 Thank you very much. Thank you. 00:06:16.54\00:06:18.71 This is Flavio Ferraz reporting for Mission 360. 00:06:18.74\00:06:23.08 Welcome back to the campus of Babcock University. 00:06:23.11\00:06:25.88 And I hope that missed episodes, stories, 00:06:32.85\00:06:35.39 and you can keep up-to-date with Mission 360. 00:06:35.42\00:06:38.13 Next up, we travel to Bangladesh. 00:06:38.16\00:06:40.13 Greetings from Bangladesh. 00:06:45.30\00:06:47.10 I'm here today as we're doing a food distribution 00:06:47.14\00:06:50.24 to the Rohingya refugee camp. 00:06:50.27\00:06:52.27 This week we'll be providing food 00:06:52.31\00:06:55.11 and I've just been to another camp 00:06:55.14\00:06:56.78 where we're providing shelter. 00:06:56.81\00:06:58.38 As I sit here and I look at the needs that exist, 00:06:58.41\00:07:01.28 and I feel the pride 00:07:01.32\00:07:02.75 that comes to me as I see the staff at work, 00:07:02.78\00:07:05.29 that reminds me of the great work 00:07:05.32\00:07:07.19 that ADRA does. 00:07:07.22\00:07:08.79 As I pass through this camp 00:07:28.44\00:07:30.58 and I'm reminded of the ingenuity 00:07:30.61\00:07:32.61 of the Rohingya people, 00:07:32.65\00:07:34.08 their ability to survive 00:07:34.12\00:07:35.82 and still etch out some kind of a living 00:07:35.85\00:07:38.52 in these difficult conditions. 00:07:38.55\00:07:39.89 And I came across here 00:07:39.92\00:07:41.49 with this, with this fish market. 00:07:41.52\00:07:43.59 And as I looked at the fish market, 00:07:43.63\00:07:45.19 it reminded me of the story in the Bible 00:07:45.23\00:07:47.90 of the five loaves and the two fishes. 00:07:47.93\00:07:50.87 Where the people were hungry and they came to Christ 00:07:50.90\00:07:53.64 and He blessed the food and He multiplied it. 00:07:53.67\00:07:56.50 We are distributing food to 19,000 families. 00:07:56.54\00:08:01.51 That's around about 100,000 people, 00:08:01.54\00:08:04.05 but all up there's 800,000 people 00:08:04.08\00:08:06.11 in these refugee camps. 00:08:06.15\00:08:07.72 All of them hungry, 00:08:07.75\00:08:09.08 all of them in need of a blessing, 00:08:09.12\00:08:10.45 all of them in need of a miracle. 00:08:10.49\00:08:13.05 And perhaps it reminds me that maybe we can be that miracle 00:08:13.09\00:08:17.09 that through our generosity 00:08:17.13\00:08:18.76 that we can help to modify this fish, 00:08:18.79\00:08:20.96 that we can help to bring food to the starving people 00:08:21.00\00:08:24.10 here amongst these Rohingya camps. 00:08:24.13\00:08:26.30 It's a great honor and privilege 00:08:26.33\00:08:27.67 to be able to feed 100,000 people this week, 00:08:27.70\00:08:30.64 bringing them food for two weeks. 00:08:30.67\00:08:32.51 But what about beyond those two weeks? 00:08:32.54\00:08:34.04 And what about those who we're yet to touch? 00:08:34.08\00:08:36.85 And so, as I'm reminded of the way that 00:08:36.88\00:08:39.15 God blessed in the Bible, 00:08:39.18\00:08:40.52 I'm reminded that He is still a God 00:08:40.55\00:08:42.62 who blesses today, 00:08:42.65\00:08:43.99 that He's placed us here with a reason and a purpose. 00:08:44.02\00:08:46.82 I'm also reminded of the woman at the well 00:08:46.86\00:08:48.86 where she met Jesus and He offered her the water 00:08:48.89\00:08:51.79 that shall never run dry. 00:08:51.83\00:08:54.06 In this particular refugee camp, 00:08:54.10\00:08:55.86 we have a difficulty with the supply of water. 00:08:55.90\00:08:58.67 At the refugee camp that I visited yesterday 00:08:58.70\00:09:00.87 was more inland 00:09:00.90\00:09:02.24 and there was a number of wells. 00:09:02.27\00:09:03.81 But if we sink wells in this region 00:09:03.84\00:09:05.94 where we're close to the coast, all that we get is salty water, 00:09:05.97\00:09:09.41 which is not drinkable. 00:09:09.44\00:09:11.08 And so we're dependent upon shipping 00:09:11.11\00:09:13.15 by gravity fed water system, 00:09:13.18\00:09:14.85 piping water from the mountains nearby 00:09:14.88\00:09:17.22 to try and bring clean water. 00:09:17.25\00:09:18.92 But unfortunately 00:09:18.95\00:09:20.46 the water supply is not adequate. 00:09:20.49\00:09:22.09 And so we actually have a water shortage 00:09:22.12\00:09:24.66 in this camp around 100,000 people 00:09:24.69\00:09:27.90 and we have a great need for water. 00:09:27.93\00:09:30.60 And so, just as we need to provide people 00:09:30.63\00:09:33.13 with a water well, 00:09:33.17\00:09:34.50 water from the well that shall never run dry. 00:09:34.54\00:09:36.67 We also need water here because water is life. 00:09:36.71\00:09:40.01 Before we can talk to them about life in general, 00:09:40.04\00:09:42.64 we have to meet their needs. 00:09:42.68\00:09:44.05 And first is a very real need 00:09:44.08\00:09:45.75 of the people here in this camp. 00:09:45.78\00:09:47.65 And so I choose to ask you to be generous in your support 00:09:47.68\00:09:51.05 for ADRA in this work, 00:09:51.09\00:09:52.42 as we try and help these people who have suffered much, 00:09:52.45\00:09:54.96 who've suffered much trauma 00:09:54.99\00:09:56.52 as they've been driven from their homes, 00:09:56.56\00:09:58.86 where they had comfort, where they had businesses, 00:09:58.89\00:10:01.66 driven with automatic weapons fired at them, 00:10:01.70\00:10:04.57 losing family members as they fled. 00:10:04.60\00:10:06.67 And now they come here to the situation of dire need. 00:10:06.70\00:10:10.24 Well, thanks so much for joining us today 00:10:26.09\00:10:28.46 on Mission 360. 00:10:28.49\00:10:29.82 And I hope that 00:10:29.86\00:10:31.19 you've enjoyed our 360 degree view of mission 00:10:31.23\00:10:33.50 around the world. 00:10:33.53\00:10:34.86 And I hope that you've been inspired 00:10:34.90\00:10:36.26 and challenged by what you've seen and heard. 00:10:36.30\00:10:39.37 I hope that you've also enjoyed our special focus 00:10:39.40\00:10:41.64 on Babcock University. 00:10:41.67\00:10:44.34 Babcock is a special place. 00:10:44.37\00:10:46.64 It's a place where students 00:10:46.68\00:10:48.01 are not
