00:11 Welcome back to Tokyo.
00:12 If you're enjoying Mission 360°, 00:15 I invite you to visit our website 00:17 at m360.TV. 00:19 There you can catch any episodes 00:21 you may have missed 00:23 or you can view again stories that you like. 00:25 You find a lot more information about Mission 360°. 00:29 Next up, a delicious vegetarian recipe 00:32 from the Mission 360 Kitchen. 00:35 Welcome to our Mission 360 Kitchen. 00:37 And we like to share recipes from around the world. 00:40 We like to think of the world 00:41 as kind of a global neighborhood. 00:43 And so we're going to share something with you today that 00:46 I think you're going to really enjoy. 00:48 What's on the menu today? 00:49 Today, we're going to make a chilled strawberry soup 00:52 that is inspired by Chile. 00:54 Chile is actually one of the leading exporters 00:56 of strawberries in the world, did you know that? 00:58 Wow. It's impressive. 01:00 Yes. 01:01 Actually, I think I have seen some strawberries from Chile 01:04 during the winter time here in North America so. 01:06 That makes sense. 01:07 We get to enjoy them a lot longer. 01:09 Right. Luckiest. 01:10 Well, the ingredients that we're going to be using 01:12 for our soup recipe is very simple. 01:15 We're using fresh strawberries, 01:16 we're going to use about four cups of them. 01:18 We're going to use 01:20 a cup and a half of the orange juice. 01:22 And if your strawberries are a little bit tart, 01:25 you might want to add a little bit of sugar. 01:26 Otherwise, if they're sweet, 01:28 you don't need to use the sugar at all. 01:30 And just for a variation, 01:31 we're going to put in a little bit of allspice 01:34 and a little bit of cinnamon just to make it interesting. 01:37 We're also going to put in a little bit of lemon juice, 01:39 just to kind of keep it fresh. 01:41 And, so let's get started. Okay. 01:44 So first we start with the strawberries. 01:46 Okay. 01:48 Sometimes people think of this recipe 01:50 is more of a smoothie, 01:51 but it can be a smoothie or a drink or a soup. 01:55 But we're just going to call it a soup for today's purposes. 02:00 Strawberries looks so red. Nice and red. 02:03 And then we just pour in the orange juice over it. 02:12 If you need to, 02:14 you can substitute apple juice for that. 02:15 So it kind of depends on what you have 02:17 in your kitchen. 02:18 And here's a little bit of lemon juice 02:20 we're going to add, a tablespoon. 02:23 Just a little bit. Okay. 02:26 And I'm going to add just because I like the spices, 02:29 I'm going to add just a pinch of these spices, 02:32 just to add something to it. 02:34 And you can always adjust it and add more as you wish. 02:37 Or you can just leave them out. 02:40 Add a little bit of kick, just noticeable. 02:42 Yes, it will be. 02:43 Shall we put just a little bit of the sugar in? 02:45 I'd say just a tad. 02:46 Yeah, there we go. Okay. 02:48 We'll save the rest of them in case we need it. 02:50 Okay. 02:51 All right. Let's put the lid on. 02:54 Okay, so we're just going to pulse this a little bit 02:56 until it gets nice and mixed and pulpy. 03:09 Oh, that was good. 03:13 That is really quick. 03:16 So we're going to show you 03:18 what it looks like in the fancy glass, 03:20 in case you want to use it as drink. 03:22 So I'll give you a little taste, Kayla. 03:24 We've a treat. 03:27 That's enough to taste. 03:29 Thank you. 03:31 Here's another one. 03:36 So let's give it a try. 03:43 So good. It's delicious. 03:45 Strawberries are really delicious. 03:47 That's one way to have it. 03:50 Another way to have it would be 03:51 to serve it just in a bowl like this. 03:54 And you've already tasted, Kayla, so. 03:56 But that's one way to serve it. 03:58 I'm going to put some here in my bowl, 04:01 and you can always garnish it by adding a slice of banana 04:04 or a piece of papaya or just leave it as it is. 04:08 But here we have a bowl of cubed banana bread, 04:11 which makes it a little bit chunkier. 04:13 A lot of people like 04:16 something that's a little more substantial. 04:19 So give that one a try, Kayla, see what you think. 04:21 I can't wait, I love banana bread. 04:27 Does it taste the same as before 04:29 or is it taste different with the banana bread? 04:30 It does but I get the banana in there 04:32 and the nuts are really good. 04:33 Great, I think you could put it on granola 04:35 or use it over your oatmeal 04:37 or just use it as a drink like this too. 04:40 So thanks for joining us at Mission 360 Kitchen, 04:42 and we'll see you again next time. 04:45 Welcome back to Mission 360°. 04:46 If you're enjoying our program, 04:48 I invite you to follow us on social media. 04:51 Just go to Facebook and or Instagram, 04:54 search for mission360tv, and click follow or like. 04:59 Next up, we travel to South America 05:01 to see some 13th Sabbath Offering projects. 05:15 Each time Nilda goes home, she's reminded of God's grace. 05:19 It was just a few short years ago 05:21 that her home in Salvador, Brazil 05:23 was destroyed by a landslide caused by heavy rain. 05:27 This wasn't the first time her world fell apart. 05:30 When Nilda gave birth to her son Nathan, 05:32 her husband left her. 05:34 Nathan was born with autism and cerebral palsy, 05:38 making it difficult 05:39 to nurture him as a single mother. 05:41 She had no money to spare 05:42 because all of her money went toward medical bills 05:45 and treatments for her son. 05:49 After the landslide, 05:50 Nilda had no money to rebuild her home. 05:53 Her faith in God slipped away 05:55 as she fell into a deep depression. 05:57 But then a fellow church member heard what happened 06:00 to Nilda's house 06:01 and called for a church meeting. 06:08 The local Adventist Church banded together 06:11 and completely rebuilt Nilda's house. 06:14 They even reconstructed it 06:15 to a higher standard than before 06:18 to protect against flooding and landslides. 06:21 They also added a second level 06:23 to ensure there would always be a dry living area 06:25 for Nilda and Nathan. 06:28 Nilda sometimes visits the lower level 06:30 where she and Nathan had lived before. 06:33 This space reminds her of the rainy nights 06:35 she didn't sleep, 06:37 hauling buckets of water out of the rooms. 06:39 Sometimes the water would flood high enough to reach her knees. 06:43 The furniture was destroyed over and over again. 06:46 But Nilda's greatest concern was for Nathan 06:49 to get a good night sleep. 06:51 She remembers carrying Nathan up these stairs 06:54 every time they needed to leave the house 06:56 for his treatment or simply to buy food. 06:59 It was a time when Nilda's hope was slipping, 07:02 but her Adventist neighbor's compassion 07:04 gave her hope again. 07:11 I saw the Lord moving in our lives 07:14 says He had compassion on me and my son. 07:17 I saw that they did what God teaches, 07:19 which is to love your neighbors. 07:22 Today, if I see a person in need, 07:24 I will take the time to help them as well. 07:27 This is the love the Lord wants us to exercise. 07:31 They made me very happy. 07:40 Today Nilda's house 07:41 proudly displays a sign that says, "Builders of hope," 07:45 a project of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. 07:49 The community was so touched 07:51 by the generosity of the Adventist Church 07:53 that they began visiting her and asking questions about it. 07:56 The church members not only rebuilt Nilda's home, 08:00 God also use them to rebuild her faith. 08:05 I opened my doors to everyone. 08:07 My house is a house of prayer for everyone in the community. 08:11 The people come here to worship and sing. 08:14 The things that were done in my life, 08:16 I try to pass on to others, 08:19 the love and compassion 08:20 we need to have for one another. 08:24 Nilda is passionate about spreading the gospel. 08:27 She's the leader of a small group 08:29 that meets in her home every Friday night. 08:31 Through this small group, 08:33 many of her neighbors 08:35 have given their hearts to Jesus. 08:40 I just want to thank God for what He has done in my life 08:44 and in the lives of my children. 08:47 May God keep using me each day through His Holy Spirit 08:51 that I may be a light and a living example 08:55 to show people that Jesus is coming soon. 09:00 This quarter a portion of your 13th Sabbath Offering 09:04 will help construct a church, 09:05 an urban center of influence in Salvador, 09:08 where Nilda lives. 09:10 It will also help another project in Brazil 09:12 and two projects in Peru. 09:15 Please pray for these projects 09:17 as God uses faithful church members 09:20 to touch the lives of people throughout South America. 09:23 Thanks for supporting mission. 09:42 Well, that's about it for today's program 09:44 and I hope that you've been challenged 09:45 and inspired 09:47 by our 360 degree view of mission around the world. 09:51 As we look at huge cities like Tokyo, 09:53 we see an amazing mission challenge 09:56 and as you walk through the streets 09:58 and the neighborhoods, you see communities, 10:00 you see sub communities, 10:02 you see families out for a walk together 10:04 and you look at the high rises and you ask yourself, 10:06 wouldn't it be wonderful 10:08 if we could have a home church 10:10 in each one of these high rises? 10:12 And I hope that you've been challenged 10:13 by what you've seen regarding church planting 10:16 because as we plant new groups of believers, 10:18 church begins to grow, 10:20 the church becomes healthier 10:21 and we become what God wants us to be. 10:25 I want to thank you so much for your continuing support 10:27 of mission around the world. 10:29 And before we go, 10:30 I want to show you a small music video 10:33 and as the music plays, 10:35 please take the opportunity to pray about mission. 10:37 Pray about your personal involvement. 10:39 I want to thank you for your prayers 10:41 and your financial support that helps mission go forward. 10:45 For Adventist Mission, I'm Gary Krause. 10:47 And I hope that you can join me next time 10:49 right here on Mission 360°. |
