It's impressive. 00:00:58.89\00:01:00.29 Yes. 00:01:00.32\00:01:01.66 Actually, I think I have seen some strawberries from Chile 00:01:01.69\00:01:04.03 during the winter time here in North America so. 00:01:04.06\00:01:06.23 That makes sense. 00:01:06.26\00:01:07.60 We get to enjoy them a lot longer. 00:01:07.63\00:01:09.10 Right. Luckiest. 00:01:09.13\00:01:10.87 Well, the ingredients that we're going to be using 00:01:10.90\00:01:12.77 for our soup recipe is very simple. 00:01:12.80\00:01:15.27 We're using fresh strawberries, 00:01:15.30\00:01:16.84 we're going to use about four cups of them. 00:01:16.87\00:01:18.94 We're going to use 00:01:18.97\00:01:20.31 a cup and a half of the orange juice. 00:01:20.34\00:01:22.34 And if your strawberries are a little bit tart, 00:01:22.38\00:01:25.01 you might want to add a little bit of sugar. 00:01:25.05\00:01:26.61 Otherwise, if they're sweet, 00:01:26.65\00:01:28.12 you don't need to use the sugar at all. 00:01:28.15\00:01:30.09 And just for a variation, 00:01:30.12\00:01:31.45 we're going to put in a little bit of allspice 00:01:31.49\00:01:34.16 and a little bit of cinnamon just to make it interesting. 00:01:34.19\00:01:37.16 We're also going to put in a little bit of lemon juice, 00:01:37.19\00:01:39.79 just to kind of keep it fresh. 00:01:39.83\00:01:41.66 And, so let's get started. Okay. 00:01:41.70\00:01:44.07 So first we start with the strawberries. 00:01:44.10\00:01:46.47 Okay. 00:01:46.50\00:01:48.20 Sometimes people think of this recipe 00:01:48.24\00:01:49.97 is more of a smoothie, 00:01:50.01\00:01:51.34 but it can be a smoothie or a drink or a soup. 00:01:51.37\00:01:55.04 But we're just going to call it a soup for today's purposes. 00:01:55.08\00:02:00.05 Strawberries looks so red. Nice and red. 00:02:00.08\00:02:03.35 And then we just pour in the orange juice over it. 00:02:03.39\00:02:05.69 If you need to, 00:02:12.79\00:02:14.13 you can substitute apple juice for that. 00:02:14.16\00:02:15.50 So it kind of depends on what you have 00:02:15.53\00:02:17.03 in your kitchen. 00:02:17.07\00:02:18.43 And here's a little bit of lemon juice 00:02:18.47\00:02:20.10 we're going to add, a tablespoon. 00:02:20.14\00:02:23.37 Just a little bit. Okay. 00:02:23.41\00:02:26.27 And I'm going to add just because I like the spices, 00:02:26.31\00:02:29.54 I'm going to add just a pinch of these spices, 00:02:29.58\00:02:32.75 just to add something to it. 00:02:32.78\00:02:34.12 And you can always adjust it and add more as you wish. 00:02:34.15\00:02:37.42 Or you can just leave them out. 00:02:37.45\00:02:40.09 Add a little bit of kick, just noticeable. 00:02:40.12\00:02:42.19 Yes, it will be. 00:02:42.22\00:02:43.63 Shall we put just a little bit of the sugar in? 00:02:43.66\00:02:45.43 I'd say just a tad. 00:02:45.46\00:02:46.80 Yeah, there we go. Okay. 00:02:46.83\00:02:48.16 We'll save the rest of them in case we need it. 00:02:48.20\00:02:50.00 Okay. 00:02:50.03\00:02:51.47 All right. Let's put the lid on. 00:02:51.50\00:02:54.57 Okay, so we're just going to pulse this a little bit 00:02:54.60\00:02:56.81 until it gets nice and mixed and pulpy. 00:02:56.84\00:02:59.71 Oh, that was good. 00:03:09.88\00:03:13.76 That is really quick. 00:03:13.79\00:03:16.22 So we're going to show you 00:03:16.26\00:03:18.53 what it looks like in the fancy glass, 00:03:18.56\00:03:20.90 in case you want to use it as drink. 00:03:20.93\00:03:22.93 So I'll give you a little taste, Kayla. 00:03:22.96\00:03:24.77 We've a treat. 00:03:24.80\00:03:27.77 That's enough to taste. 00:03:27.80\00:03:29.14 Thank you. 00:03:29.17\00:03:31.27 Here's another one. 00:03:31.31\00:03:32.84 So let's give it a try. 00:03:36.28\00:03:37.71 So good. It's delicious. 00:03:43.92\00:03:45.65 Strawberries are really delicious. 00:03:45.69\00:03:47.59 That's one way to have it. 00:03:47.62\00:03:49.99 Another way to have it would be 00:03:50.03\00:03:51.73 to serve it just in a bowl like this. 00:03:51.76\00:03:54.83 And you've already tasted, Kayla, so. 00:03:54.86\00:03:56.56 But that's one way to serve it. 00:03:56.60\00:03:58.90 I'm going to put some here in my bowl, 00:03:58.93\00:04:01.67 and you can always garnish it by adding a slice of banana 00:04:01.70\00:04:04.54 or a piece of papaya or just leave it as it is. 00:04:04.57\00:04:08.11 But here we have a bowl of cubed banana bread, 00:04:08.14\00:04:11.91 which makes it a little bit chunkier. 00:04:11.95\00:04:13.75 A lot of people like 00:04:13.78\00:04:16.08 something that's a little more substantial. 00:04:16.12\00:04:19.09 So give that one a try, Kayla, see what you think. 00:04:19.12\00:04:21.66 I can't wait, I love banana bread. 00:04:21.69\00:04:23.02 Does it taste the same as before 00:04:27.90\00:04:29.40 or is it taste different with the banana bread? 00:04:29.43\00:04:30.77 It does but I get the banana in there 00:04:30.80\00:04:32.13 and the nuts are really good. 00:04:32.17\00:04:33.94 Great, I think you could put it on granola 00:04:33.97\00:04:35.54 or use it over your oatmeal 00:04:35.57\00:04:37.37 or just use it as a drink like this too. 00:04:37.41\00:04:40.38 So thanks for joining us at Mission 360 Kitchen, 00:04:40.41\00:04:42.68 and we'll see you again next time. 00:04:42.71\00:04:45.21 Welcome back to Mission 360°. 00:04:45.25\00:04:46.82 If you're enjoying our program, 00:04:46.85\00:04:48.55 I invite you to follow us on social media. 00:04:48.58\00:04:51.19 Just go to Facebook and Offering projects. 00:05:01.36\00:05:04.33 Each time Nilda goes home, she's reminded of God's grace. 00:05:15.01\00:05:19.61 It was just a few short years ago 00:05:19.65\00:05:21.52 that her home in Salvador, Brazil 00:05:21.55\00:05:23.52 was destroyed by a landslide caused by heavy rain. 00:05:23.55\00:05:27.59 This wasn't the first time her world fell apart. 00:05:27.62\00:05:30.29 When Nilda gave birth to her son Nathan, 00:05:30.33\00:05:32.89 her husband left her. 00:05:32.93\00:05:34.53 Nathan was born with autism and cerebral palsy, 00:05:34.56\00:05:38.00 making it difficult 00:05:38.03\00:05:39.37 to nurture him as a single mother. 00:05:39.40\00:05:41.50 She had no money to spare 00:05:41.54\00:05:42.87 because all of her money went toward medical bills 00:05:42.90\00:05:45.37 and treatments for her son. 00:05:45.41\00:05:49.21 After the landslide, 00:05:49.24\00:05:50.68 Nilda had no money to rebuild her home. 00:05:50.71\00:05:53.72 Her faith in God slipped away 00:05:53.75\00:05:55.48 as she fell into a deep depression. 00:05:55.52\00:05:57.85 But then a fellow church member heard what happened 00:05:57.89\00:06:00.36 to Nilda's house 00:06:00.39\00:06:01.72 and called for a church meeting. 00:06:01.76\00:06:03.59 The local Adventist Church banded together 00:06:08.70\00:06:11.37 and completely rebuilt Nilda's house. 00:06:11.40\00:06:14.00 They even reconstructed it 00:06:14.04\00:06:15.94 to a higher standard than before 00:06:15.97\00:06:17.97 to protect against flooding and landslides. 00:06:18.01\00:06:21.11 They also added a second level 00:06:21.14\00:06:22.98 to ensure there would always be a dry living area 00:06:23.01\00:06:25.75 for Nilda and Nathan. 00:06:25.78\00:06:28.35 Nilda sometimes visits the lower level 00:06:28.38\00:06:30.72 where she and Nathan had lived before. 00:06:30.75\00:06:33.19 This space reminds her of the rainy nights 00:06:33.22\00:06:35.86 she didn't sleep, 00:06:35.89\00:06:37.23 hauling buckets of water out of the rooms. 00:06:37.26\00:06:39.66 Sometimes the water would flood high enough to reach her knees. 00:06:39.69\00:06:43.53 The furniture was destroyed over and over again. 00:06:43.57\00:06:46.80 But Nilda's greatest concern was for Nathan 00:06:46.84\00:06:49.57 to get a good night sleep. 00:06:49.60\00:06:51.71 She remembers carrying Nathan up these stairs 00:06:51.74\00:06:54.28 every time they needed to leave the house 00:06:54.31\00:06:56.34 for his treatment or simply to buy food. 00:06:56.38\00:06:59.21 It was a time when Nilda's hope was slipping, 00:06:59.25\00:07:02.15 but her Adventist neighbor's compassion 00:07:02.18\00:07:04.42 gave her hope again. 00:07:04.45\00:07:05.92 I saw the Lord moving in our lives 00:07:11.23\00:07:13.96 says He had compassion on me and my son. 00:07:14.00\00:07:17.10 I saw that they did what God teaches, 00:07:17.13\00:07:19.93 which is to love your neighbors. 00:07:19.97\00:07:21.97 Today, if I see a person in need, 00:07:22.00\00:07:24.47 I will take the time to help them as well. 00:07:24.51\00:07:27.48 This is the love the Lord wants us to exercise. 00:07:27.51\00:07:31.41 They made me very happy. 00:07:31.45\00:07:33.25 Today Nilda's house 00:07:40.19\00:07:41.62 proudly displays a sign that says, "Builders of hope," 00:07:41.66\00:07:45.26 a project of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. 00:07:45.29\00:07:49.16 The community was so touched 00:07:49.20\00:07:51.00 by the generosity of the Adventist Church 00:07:51.03\00:07:53.30 that they began visiting her and asking questions about it. 00:07:53.34\00:07:56.87 The church members not only rebuilt Nilda's home, 00:07:56.91\00:08:00.31 God also use them to rebuild her faith. 00:08:00.34\00:08:05.01 I opened my doors to everyone. 00:08:05.05\00:08:07.15 My house is a house of prayer for everyone in the community. 00:08:07.18\00:08:11.25 The people come here to worship and sing. 00:08:11.29\00:08:14.42 The things that were done in my life, 00:08:14.46\00:08:16.66 I try to pass on to others, 00:08:16.69\00:08:19.16 the love and compassion 00:08:19.19\00:08:20.66 we need to have for one another. 00:08:20.70\00:08:24.30 Nilda is passionate about spreading the gospel. 00:08:24.33\00:08:27.54 She's the leader of a small group 00:08:27.57\00:08:29.47 that meets in her home every Friday night. 00:08:29.50\00:08:31.94 Through this small group, 00:08:31.97\00:08:33.61 many of her neighbors 00:08:33.64\00:08:34.98 have given their hearts to Jesus. 00:08:35.01\00:08:36.98 I just want to thank God for what He has done in my life 00:08:40.28\00:08:44.25 and in the lives of my children. 00:08:44.29\00:08:47.12 May God keep using me each day through His Holy Spirit 00:08:47.16\00:08:51.76 that I may be a light and a living example 00:08:51.79\00:08:55.33 to show people that Jesus is coming soon. 00:08:55.36\00:09:00.90 This quarter a portion of your 13th Sabbath Offering 00:09:00.94\00:09:04.07 will help construct a church, 00:09:04.11\00:09:05.81 an urban center of influence in Salvador, 00:09:05.84\00:09:08.78 where Nilda lives. 00:09:08.81\00:09:10.28 It will also help another project in Brazil 00:09:10.31\00:09:12.91 and two projects in Peru. 00:09:12.95\00:09:15.68 Please pray for these projects 00:09:15.72\00:09:17.55 as God uses faithful church members 00:09:17.59\00:09:20.06 to touch the lives of people throughout South America. 00:09:20.09\00:09:23.63 Thanks for supporting mission. 00:09:23.66\00:09:25.79 Well, that's about it for today's program 00:09:42.41\00:09:44.15 and I hope that you've been challenged 00:09:44.18\00:09:45.95 and inspired 00:09:45.98\00:09:47.32 by our 360 degree view of mission around the world. 00:09:47.35\00:09:51.49 As we look at huge cities like Tokyo, 00:09:51.52\00:09:53.96 we see an amazing mission challenge 00:09:53.99\00:09:56.32 and as you walk through the streets 00:09:56.36\00:09:58.53 and the neighborhoods, you see communities, 00:09:58.56\00:10:00.53 you see sub communities, 00:10:00.56\00:10:02.60 you see families out for a walk together 00:10:02.63\00:10:04.80 and you look at the high rises and you ask yourself, 00:10:04.83\00:10:06.94 wouldn't it be wonderful 00:10:06.97\00:10:08.80 if we could have a home church 00:10:08.84\00:10:10.17 in each one of these high rises? 00:10:10.21\00:10:12.31 And I hope that you've been challenged 00:10:12.34\00:10:13.71 by what you've seen regarding church planting 00:10:13.74\00:10:16.75 because as we plant new groups of believers, 00:10:16.78\00:10:18.95 church begins to grow, 00:10:18.98\00:10:20.32 the church becomes healthier 00:10:20.35\00:10:21.92 and we become what God wants us to be. 00:10:21.95\00:10:24.99 I want to thank you so much for your continuing support 00:10:25.02\00:10:27.22 of mission around the world. 00:10:27.26\00:10:29.09 And before we go, 00:10:29.12\00:10:30.46 I want to show you a small music video 00:10:30.49\00:10:33.26 and as the music plays, 00:10:33.29\00:10:35.06 please take the opportunity to pray about mission. 00:10:35.10\00:10:37.93 Pray about your personal involvement. 00:10:37.97\00:10:39.77 I want to thank you for your prayers 00:10:39.80\00:10:41.80 and your financial support that helps mission go forward. 00:10:41.84\00:10:45.64 For Adventist Mission, I'm Gary Krause. 00:10:45.67\00:10:47.78 And I hope that you can join me next time 00:10:47.81\00:10:49.91 right here on Mission 360°. 00:10:49.94\00:10:52.98
