Definitely. 00:01:00.79\00:01:03.02 Basically, I think any kind of summer fruit, 00:01:03.06\00:01:05.26 but we're using mangoes today 00:01:05.29\00:01:07.13 and we are doing this as a nod to our friends 00:01:07.16\00:01:11.97 in the Caribbean Islands. 00:01:12.00\00:01:13.90 So we're going to start out with some mangoes. 00:01:13.94\00:01:16.97 Actually, could you read our list for us 00:01:17.01\00:01:18.84 and so we know what we're putting in. 00:01:18.87\00:01:21.84 Well, it sounds pretty easy. 00:01:40.50\00:01:41.83 I think anyone could make it. 00:01:41.86\00:01:43.20 It just takes a little time to prep it, 00:01:43.23\00:01:44.97 but then it's really excellent. 00:01:45.00\00:01:46.70 So it's well worth your time and effort. 00:01:46.74\00:01:48.54 Great for summer. 00:01:48.57\00:01:49.90 So let's start with the mangoes 00:01:49.94\00:01:52.77 and I'm just going to put them in this bowl here. 00:01:52.81\00:01:55.24 These were are fresh mangoes so when it comes July 00:01:55.28\00:01:58.75 or whenever they come in season in your area, 00:01:58.78\00:02:02.35 take advantage of that. 00:02:02.38\00:02:04.82 It look beautiful, they smell really good. 00:02:04.85\00:02:07.89 This is the red bell pepper. 00:02:07.92\00:02:11.19 Oh, it's colorful already. 00:02:11.23\00:02:13.46 For now I'm just going to take some of the green onion 00:02:13.50\00:02:17.33 and just put that into the bowl. 00:02:17.37\00:02:19.33 We have cilantro which is one of my favorite smells. 00:02:22.57\00:02:25.87 It smells so good. 00:02:25.91\00:02:27.41 Cilantro makes everything better. 00:02:27.44\00:02:29.71 Now we've got two jalapeno peppers in here. 00:02:29.74\00:02:33.58 I recommend that if you're not used to having jalapenos 00:02:33.62\00:02:36.69 so you start out with just some because it is a little spicy, 00:02:36.72\00:02:40.06 but it's not super hot like Scotch bonnet peppers, 00:02:40.09\00:02:43.53 but give that a try. 00:02:43.56\00:02:44.89 We'll start small. 00:02:44.93\00:02:46.26 You can add more later if you need to. 00:02:46.29\00:02:47.63 Yes. 00:02:47.66\00:02:49.00 And this is the lemon and lime juice. 00:02:49.03\00:02:50.37 Actually, it makes quite a large batch. 00:02:53.00\00:02:55.50 So I'm going to just stir this around a little bit 00:02:55.54\00:02:58.41 just to combine all the ingredients. 00:02:58.44\00:03:01.64 Now normally you would make this 00:03:01.68\00:03:03.14 and put it in the refrigerator 00:03:03.18\00:03:04.51 so that all the flavors will melt 00:03:04.55\00:03:06.25 for about half an hour. 00:03:06.28\00:03:08.68 And it's going to keep for several days after that, 00:03:08.72\00:03:11.82 you know, fresh is always best. 00:03:11.85\00:03:15.76 But today we're wanting to sample it right away. 00:03:15.79\00:03:18.79 So we're gonna go ahead 00:03:18.83\00:03:20.16 and put it in our bowl with our chips. 00:03:20.20\00:03:24.37 Do you wanna add a little bit of salt? 00:03:24.40\00:03:25.73 Oh, yes. Let's do that. 00:03:25.77\00:03:27.24 And bring out the flavors little bit more too. 00:03:27.27\00:03:28.60 Yes, I think so. 00:03:28.64\00:03:31.71 We'll do that. And don't forget the salt. 00:03:31.74\00:03:35.71 It does make things a little bit better. 00:03:35.74\00:03:37.75 There we go. 00:03:37.78\00:03:39.11 Okay, let's go ahead and put it on our platter. 00:03:39.15\00:03:41.55 Okay. 00:03:41.58\00:03:43.42 Do you wanna do that, Kayla? 00:03:43.45\00:03:44.79 Yes. Let me move this. 00:03:44.82\00:03:47.09 So here we just have yellow corn chips 00:03:47.12\00:03:48.82 and these are blue corn chips. 00:03:48.86\00:03:50.39 We're going to make it as pretty as you like. 00:03:53.46\00:03:55.96 All the colors are really nice, Nancy, I like it. 00:03:56.00\00:03:57.87 Oh, I think it's beautiful. 00:03:57.90\00:04:01.27 I can almost eat that as a salad. 00:04:01.30\00:04:03.37 I would. 00:04:03.41\00:04:07.21 Well, let's try a piece. 00:04:07.24\00:04:08.88 I can't wait. 00:04:08.91\00:04:10.25 You've to fill up a little bit of that dip on there. 00:04:10.28\00:04:12.18 There we go. 00:04:16.08\00:04:17.42 It's good. 00:04:20.56\00:04:21.89 Perfect. 00:04:21.92\00:04:23.26 Love the cilantro. 00:04:23.29\00:04:24.79 And that's gonna be really good 00:04:24.83\00:04:26.16 after it's been in the fridge for about a half an hour. 00:04:26.19\00:04:28.30 So thanks for joining us in our Mission 360° Kitchen. 00:04:28.33\00:04:31.20 See you next work 00:04:47.75\00:04:49.08 of the Adventist Development and Relief Agency. 00:04:49.12\00:04:51.69 A year ago, bright-eyed slender nine-year-old Molly 00:04:54.72\00:04:58.49 was offered refuge at ADRA's all girls' shelter 00:04:58.53\00:05:01.86 called Keep Girls Safe or KGS. 00:05:01.90\00:05:05.10 Her mom didn't want her 00:05:05.13\00:05:06.70 and local villagers couldn't keep her. 00:05:06.74\00:05:09.04 Most of the girls who come to KGS 00:05:09.07\00:05:10.94 have been abused, orphaned, abandoned, 00:05:10.97\00:05:14.18 or are at risk for human trafficking. 00:05:14.21\00:05:16.68 For girls ages 8-18, who have nowhere else to go, 00:05:16.71\00:05:20.35 KGS serves as a temporary means of protection. 00:05:20.38\00:05:23.62 The girls keep busy doing household chores 00:05:23.65\00:05:26.05 and are encouraged to attend school. 00:05:26.09\00:05:28.22 Molly helps around the shelter sweeping the floors, 00:05:28.26\00:05:31.09 washing dishes, or gardening. 00:05:31.13\00:05:33.09 Before she came here, 00:05:33.13\00:05:34.66 Molly had a hard and unsettling life 00:05:34.70\00:05:37.50 with no money and no home. 00:05:37.53\00:05:39.73 Molly's mother turned to prostitution to survive 00:05:39.77\00:05:42.40 and provide for Molly. 00:05:42.44\00:05:44.54 While they were living in the slum, 00:05:44.57\00:05:46.37 Molly's mother got pregnant again. 00:05:46.41\00:05:48.98 She couldn't bear the responsibility of caring 00:05:49.01\00:05:51.25 for two children and looked for help. 00:05:51.28\00:05:55.35 She reached out to an older couple 00:05:55.38\00:05:56.79 who lived in a local village with their seven children. 00:05:56.82\00:05:59.79 She pleaded with them to take Molly 00:05:59.82\00:06:01.49 in promising to send them money to care for her. 00:06:01.52\00:06:05.19 The older couple agreed, 00:06:05.23\00:06:07.30 but never heard from Molly's mother again. 00:06:07.33\00:06:10.43 Food became scarce for the family. 00:06:10.47\00:06:12.70 So Molly had to find food in trash cans, 00:06:12.73\00:06:15.54 steal from the temple sacrifices, or beg. 00:06:15.57\00:06:20.18 Village leaders took compassion on her 00:06:20.21\00:06:22.54 and diligently searched for a foster family 00:06:22.58\00:06:24.65 to care for her, but no one stepped forward. 00:06:24.68\00:06:28.25 So they turned to KGS for help. 00:06:28.28\00:06:31.62 KGS took Molly in patiently working with her 00:06:31.65\00:06:34.62 through her struggles. 00:06:34.66\00:06:35.99 She had counseling sessions, 00:06:36.02\00:06:37.49 did chores and attended school and church 00:06:37.53\00:06:40.93 along with the local Adventist Church, 00:06:40.96\00:06:43.06 those around Molly ensures 00:06:43.10\00:06:44.63 she receives a good education, care, and love. 00:06:44.67\00:06:49.40 ADRA Thailand is considering 00:06:49.44\00:06:51.04 anti-trafficking training sessions at girls clubs 00:06:51.07\00:06:53.64 and community youth activities 00:06:53.68\00:06:55.31 to address this prominent local problem. 00:06:55.34\00:06:57.98 KGS caregivers are trained to meet the mental, 00:06:58.01\00:07:01.42 physical, and social needs girls like Molly face. 00:07:01.45\00:07:04.85 They also aim to fund education scholarships 00:07:04.89\00:07:07.82 so more at risk youth can receive an education. 00:07:07.86\00:07:11.73 If the girls didn't come to this shelter, 00:07:11.76\00:07:14.53 they might have been in the villages 00:07:14.56\00:07:15.90 having to quit school, 00:07:15.93\00:07:17.47 not being able to follow their dreams. 00:07:17.50\00:07:20.30 Many of the girls will not have a safe place to stay, 00:07:20.34\00:07:23.04 there'll be in risk of trafficking and labor. 00:07:23.07\00:07:27.14 Your support of ADRA enables KGS 00:07:27.18\00:07:29.74 to continue to Keep Girls Safe 00:07:29.78\00:07:32.35 and give them hope for a better future. 00:07:32.38\00:07:34.62 Well, thanks so much for joining us
