00:15 Hi, welcome back to Thailand.
00:17 Up next, we're going to one of my favorite spots 00:20 Mission 360° Kitchen. 00:22 Today, Nancy and Kayla have a special recipe for us. 00:25 Sweet mango soup. 00:27 Welcome to our Mission 360° Kitchen. 00:30 We like to think of the world as a global neighborhood 00:32 and so we've chosen a few international recipes 00:35 to share on this series. 00:37 And today, we're going to focus on the Caribbean 00:39 and specifically, on Jamaica. 00:42 What are we making today, Kayla? 00:44 We're gonna make a sweet mango soup. 00:46 And do you want me to tell you the ingredients? 00:48 Yes. All right. 00:58 That sounds delicious and it also sounds easy. 01:01 One thing that I should mention about Jamaica 01:04 is that our church is very active there. 01:07 And I know for a fact that we are very, 01:10 very much in tune with community services. 01:12 So when there is something disastrous, 01:14 like a bad hurricane or something, 01:17 our church members are there to help in their communities. 01:19 So that's an interesting thing. 01:21 That's wonderful. I'm glad to hear that. 01:22 We're going to start out with our mangoes. 01:24 These were frozen 01:25 and they've just been thawed a little bit. 01:29 So we're just gonna put that into our container. 01:34 Okay, there we go. 01:36 Let me add the milk. 01:39 Pour this thing. 01:43 What if somebody is interested in a vegan diet? 01:47 Would they still be able to make this recipe? 01:48 Yes, this is definitely a recipe 01:50 we can make for our vegan friends. 01:51 You can use any sort of nut milk 01:53 or like even a hindmilk. 01:55 And then for the yogurt, 01:56 you could use like a soy yogurt or a coconut yogurt. 01:58 Oh, sounds great. 02:00 So nobody has to be left out on this one? 02:01 Definitely not. 02:03 Should we try blending this a little bit 02:04 before we add the rest of the ingredients? 02:06 Okay. 02:17 Okay. Next I'm going to add yogurt. 02:25 That's gonna make it smooth. 02:27 Nice and thick. 02:29 And it's gonna have a good feel in the mouth. 02:34 I'll add the coconut milk 02:35 which will also make it very rich and creamy. 02:42 I love coconut milk. 02:43 That's a good underlying flavor too. 02:44 I think so too. 02:46 I agree. 02:48 We're gonna add some sugar. 02:49 Yes, I think I will, just in case. 02:50 We have two tablespoons of sugar here 02:52 and I'm not gonna add it all, but you can adjust. 02:55 If the mangoes are very sweet, 02:57 you won't need any sugar at all. 02:58 So let's give that a whirl. 03:04 Okay. 03:18 We might need to stir it a little bit on top, I think. 03:20 We might need to. 03:22 Oh, it's good. 03:23 Good. It's good. Yes. 03:25 All right. 03:27 Now Jamaica is in the Inter-American Division. 03:30 And it's exciting to know that the church membership 03:34 in the Inter-American Division 03:36 is one of the fastest growing in the world. 03:38 So it's kind of interesting to hear that. 03:40 And it makes me feel proud of our church. 03:43 Now this could also be a smoothie, 03:44 but we're using it as soup today 03:46 because it is kind of thick. 03:49 That looks so good. 03:50 So there's one for you. 03:52 Thank you. 03:54 And do fill that one. 03:55 I'll try this one. 03:57 I'll do my best to make them really pretty now. 04:00 Yes, you could have it this way, 04:01 but sometimes you just want a little more presentation. 04:05 Here we go. One for you. 04:06 Oh, thank you. 04:09 Bananas are perfect for this. 04:10 They are. And I love the way mint looks. 04:13 I usually eat my mint leaves too, so... 04:18 Well, that was easy, wasn't it? 04:20 Let's try it. 04:27 Oh, so fresh! 04:29 I can taste the coconut milk and the mango. 04:31 I did too. I love it. 04:33 I probably would put it in the refrigerator, 04:34 so get even colder, 04:36 but it's good just the way it is. 04:39 So thanks for joining us on our Mission 360° Kitchen. 04:42 And we hope you'll come back and see us sometime. 04:46 I hope you're enjoying the program. 04:47 Up next, we're going to travel to the southern Africa region 04:51 to watch a cartoon animated story. 04:55 Six-year-old Joanna wrinkled her little nose at the food 04:58 that mother had placed on the table for supper. 05:01 I want to be clever, she announced. 05:04 I don't want to eat meat. 05:06 Mother gasped in surprise. 05:07 She had worked hard 05:09 to prepare the traditional Botswana meal 05:11 in their home in Francistown, 05:12 the second largest city in Botswana. 05:14 She had set the table with beef stew, 05:17 a maize porridge that resembles mashed potatoes 05:20 and bean leaves that look like spinach. 05:22 Mother thought quickly. 05:24 "Is that what you're being taught at school?" 05:26 She asked. 05:28 "Yes," Joanna said. 05:29 The pastor told us not to eat the wrong food. 05:32 We should eat the right food, so we can be clever. 05:36 Mother asked more questions 05:38 and learned that a week of prayer 05:39 had just begun at Eastern Gate Primary School 05:43 where Joanna was studying in the first grade. 05:45 The theme for the week of prayer was Daniel. 05:48 That morning the school pastor had described 05:51 how Daniel and his three friends 05:53 had refused to eat meat 05:54 in King Nebuchadnezzar's palace in Babylon. 05:57 Instead, they had eaten vegetables 06:00 and become wise, strong men. 06:03 "You aren't supposed to eat this meat, 06:04 only vegetables," 06:06 Joanna told mother pointing to the beef stew. 06:09 I want to be clever, like Daniel. 06:12 Mother remembered hearing 06:13 about the benefits of a vegetarian diet. 06:16 Somehow she hadn't gotten around to trying it. 06:19 But she felt happy that Joanna was learning 06:21 about eating healthy food at her school. 06:25 "Okay, I will do my best to cook the right food," 06:28 Mother said. 06:29 Joanna happily ate the maize porridge 06:32 and bean leaves for supper. 06:34 She didn't touch the beef stew. 06:36 The next day mother went to the kitchen 06:39 to prepare supper 06:40 and remembered her daughter's desire 06:42 to avoid meat. 06:43 So she told Joanna's father and her 16-year-old brother 06:46 that she wouldn't cook any meat for the rest of the week 06:49 while Joanna learned about Daniel. 06:51 Joanna's brother grumbled, 06:53 but he finally agreed to eat the vegetables. 06:56 Joanna was so happy. 06:57 Every supper she ate vegetables and other food without meat. 07:01 Nine months have passed since that special week, 07:04 Joanna still prefers vegetables 07:06 and mother is trying to cook healthy meals without meat. 07:10 Joanna believes that she made the right choice 07:12 in following Daniel's example. 07:15 The principal at Joanna's school agreed. 07:17 Joanna is now at the top of her class 07:20 and the principal thinks this is because of her healthy meals 07:23 and her faith that God will reward her choice. 07:27 When you eat vegetables, you become strong and healthy. 07:32 Joanna is learning valuable lessons at her school. 07:36 Thank you for your 13 Sabbath offering in 2015, 07:40 which helped pay for the construction 07:41 of Joanna's school, Eastern Gate Primary School. 07:46 It is the first Seventh-day Adventist primary school 07:48 in northern Botswana and the third in the country. 08:06 I hope you've enjoyed our 360° view for
