A pastor in Kenya becomes a Global Mission pioneer, 00:00:09.60\00:00:13.14 a pioneer in India starts a clinic 00:00:13.17\00:00:15.54 and a church in his own home, 00:00:15.58\00:00:17.81 and pioneers in Guyana win hearts through their love, 00:00:17.85\00:00:21.22 coming up next. 00:00:21.25\00:00:22.58 Hello and welcome to Mission 360°, 00:00:46.54\00:00:48.54 I'm Gary Krause. 00:00:48.58\00:00:49.98 Today's program is coming to you from Estonia 00:00:50.01\00:00:53.15 and I'm in the capital city Tallinn and in the old town, 00:00:53.18\00:00:57.52 and in this beautifully preserved 00:00:57.55\00:00:59.15 old town square 00:00:59.19\00:01:00.52 and you can see the old Town Hall behind me. 00:01:00.56\00:01:03.46 Construction began 00:01:03.49\00:01:04.83 on this building back in the 13th century. 00:01:04.86\00:01:08.16 And on today's program 00:01:08.20\00:01:09.53 we'll be looking at the challenge 00:01:09.56\00:01:11.07 of mission right here in Estonia. 00:01:11.10\00:01:13.84 And we'll be traveling all around the world 00:01:13.87\00:01:15.84 to see frontline mission in action. 00:01:15.87\00:01:18.27 But first up, let's travel to Guyana, 00:01:18.31\00:01:20.78 and visit with some Global Mission pioneers. 00:01:20.81\00:01:23.14 Most people would turn around 00:01:28.95\00:01:30.29 if they saw a sign that read "Beware, bad dog. 00:01:30.32\00:01:33.39 Do not enter." 00:01:33.42\00:01:34.76 But Rudolph and Annette aren't afraid of the sign. 00:01:34.79\00:01:38.29 As Global Mission pioneers, 00:01:38.33\00:01:40.06 they've built a relationship with the owners of the house. 00:01:40.10\00:01:43.77 Here in Guyana, Rudolph and Annette 00:01:43.80\00:01:45.97 visit people every day in their homes. 00:01:46.00\00:01:48.50 When they first arrived in this community, 00:01:48.54\00:01:50.61 they began offering basic medical exams for free. 00:01:50.64\00:01:54.08 Diseases such as diabetes are common in this region. 00:01:54.11\00:01:57.81 So as word of the free exam spread, 00:01:57.85\00:01:59.81 the number of calls 00:01:59.85\00:02:01.18 they've received steadily increased. 00:02:01.22\00:02:03.62 Today, Rudolph and Annette 00:02:03.65\00:02:05.32 are regularly asked to visit people's houses 00:02:05.35\00:02:07.86 to share this special service. 00:02:07.89\00:02:11.19 As the pioneers spend time with their patients, 00:02:11.23\00:02:13.66 it opens the door for them 00:02:13.70\00:02:15.03 to share their beliefs and pray together. 00:02:15.06\00:02:17.93 When we finish with them, they ask, 00:02:17.97\00:02:20.64 "Will you check us again?" 00:02:20.67\00:02:22.00 And we'll say, "Yes, we will check him up again." 00:02:22.04\00:02:24.71 So that is one of the doors that we have form, 00:02:24.74\00:02:26.74 open for us which we keep going 00:02:26.78\00:02:29.54 progressively to them. 00:02:29.58\00:02:32.75 Not far away, Azzes, 00:02:32.78\00:02:34.58 also works as a Global Mission pioneer. 00:02:34.62\00:02:37.45 Here he serves people of various faiths. 00:02:37.49\00:02:40.26 The flags around the house 00:02:40.29\00:02:41.89 often indicate the religion of each family. 00:02:41.92\00:02:45.13 As Azzes walks under the hot sun 00:02:45.16\00:02:46.93 with his Bible, 00:02:46.96\00:02:48.30 he trusts that God will open the doors 00:02:48.33\00:02:50.77 and hearts of his neighbors. 00:02:50.80\00:02:52.73 I start doing health checks, diabetes, hypertension, 00:02:52.77\00:02:57.61 and from that people want to know about health. 00:02:57.64\00:03:03.35 And so we have an opportunity to be with them, 00:03:03.38\00:03:05.61 to be their friends. 00:03:05.65\00:03:07.58 With time and affection, 00:03:07.62\00:03:09.38 the pioneer has become friends with many of his neighbors. 00:03:09.42\00:03:12.79 He visits this family frequently, 00:03:12.82\00:03:14.52 and they soak in everything Azzes teaches. 00:03:14.56\00:03:17.89 Whenever he comes, 00:03:17.93\00:03:19.26 he normally speaks to the family. 00:03:19.29\00:03:22.43 We will do prayer devotions, 00:03:22.46\00:03:24.77 and I appreciate it because he cares. 00:03:24.80\00:03:27.94 So I appreciate Pastor Azzes 00:03:27.97\00:03:29.90 because I see that he's a man of belief, 00:03:29.94\00:03:33.64 and he knows his work. 00:03:33.68\00:03:36.21 He knows what he has to do. He takes good care of stuff. 00:03:36.24\00:03:39.48 And He's a very nice person. 00:03:39.51\00:03:42.38 When you share and the relatives see 00:03:42.42\00:03:43.99 what you are doing, 00:03:44.02\00:03:45.35 they will share with other relatives, 00:03:45.39\00:03:46.72 and they also invite you into their homes. 00:03:46.76\00:03:49.29 But there's a lot of praying to get into these homes. 00:03:49.32\00:03:52.73 It's not easy but you have to pray 00:03:52.76\00:03:54.10 and ask the Lord to open doors for you. 00:03:54.13\00:03:55.93 And the Lord is doing that for us here. 00:03:55.96\00:03:57.90 There was no Adventist presence in this community 00:03:57.93\00:04:00.44 before Azzes came, but with his help, 00:04:00.47\00:04:03.34 a church was planted. 00:04:03.37\00:04:05.21 Many members of this congregation 00:04:05.24\00:04:06.98 have recently given their hearts to Jesus. 00:04:07.01\00:04:10.61 Despite the challenges he faces, 00:04:10.65\00:04:12.61 Azzes is committed to continue sharing this hopeful message. 00:04:12.65\00:04:17.02 Thanks to the work of Global Mission pioneers, 00:04:17.05\00:04:19.65 several churches are being planted 00:04:19.69\00:04:21.49 in some of the most challenging neighborhoods of Guyana. 00:04:21.52\00:04:25.19 Please pray for these pioneers and the lives 00:04:25.23\00:04:27.96 that can still be touched with your support. 00:04:28.00\00:04:31.33 We're in Tallinn, 00:04:31.37\00:04:32.70 which is the capital of Estonia. 00:04:32.73\00:04:34.70 And my guest is Angelika 00:04:34.74\00:04:36.74 who has had a vision for some time 00:04:36.77\00:04:39.51 for starting a particular type 00:04:39.54\00:04:41.18 of center of influence here in the city. 00:04:41.21\00:04:43.45 Angelika, thank you for joining us. 00:04:43.48\00:04:45.68 So we're here in this store, 00:04:45.71\00:04:48.62 this shop, when did it first open? 00:04:48.65\00:04:51.52 It was opened on the fifth of June this year. 00:04:51.55\00:04:54.72 Okay, so it's very new. Yeah, it is. 00:04:54.76\00:04:57.39 Now you've had this vision for some time to start this, 00:04:57.43\00:05:00.80 what were your plans? 00:05:00.83\00:05:02.16 What was in your mind? 00:05:02.20\00:05:03.97 It was in the year of 2003 actually, 00:05:04.00\00:05:07.64 quite a long time ago when I just got the idea 00:05:07.67\00:05:10.94 that we should have a secondhand shop 00:05:10.97\00:05:13.88 where people could come in not just to buy clothes, 00:05:13.91\00:05:17.45 but to sit down, chat, have a cup of tea, 00:05:17.48\00:05:23.79 read some Christian books, 00:05:23.82\00:05:26.52 write down their prayer requests, 00:05:26.55\00:05:29.32 so just a little place to have a relaxing time. 00:05:29.36\00:05:34.53 Wonderful. 00:05:34.56\00:05:35.90 And so you had this idea, 00:05:35.93\00:05:38.20 how did it finally come to happen? 00:05:38.23\00:05:41.70 When our conference 00:05:41.74\00:05:43.27 started talking about this influence center, 00:05:43.30\00:05:46.64 then I thought now 00:05:46.68\00:05:48.01 it's a good idea to make it like together 00:05:48.04\00:05:51.45 so that that center and the shop could be 00:05:51.48\00:05:54.02 in one house 00:05:54.05\00:05:55.38 and we can support each other 00:05:55.42\00:05:56.85 and we can work together. 00:05:56.89\00:05:59.42 Wonderful. So... Yeah. 00:05:59.45\00:06:00.82 So this is one part of a larger center. 00:06:00.86\00:06:03.16 So let's have a look at this shop. 00:06:03.19\00:06:05.36 We're on a very busy street here leading into the city 00:06:05.39\00:06:08.83 and describe what we're seeing here? 00:06:08.86\00:06:13.44 So, and back of the store is sofa corner. 00:06:13.47\00:06:19.57 Sofa corner? They are really... 00:07:45.29\00:07:47.36 And those prayer requests, they are not just simple. 00:07:47.40\00:07:50.50 Sometimes these problems are so deep and serious. 00:07:50.53\00:07:54.80 And so our team, 00:07:54.84\00:07:56.17 we are praying for those people and that's nice. 00:07:56.20\00:07:59.61 It's interesting because Estonia 00:07:59.64\00:08:01.98 is a very secular society. 00:08:02.01\00:08:03.71 People don't go to church very much. 00:08:03.75\00:08:06.05 But it seems that deep down, 00:08:06.08\00:08:07.98 there's still some spiritual needs that people have. 00:08:08.02\00:08:11.72 That's why it is center and this shop is a good idea, 00:08:11.75\00:08:14.89 because if they don't want to go to church 00:08:14.92\00:08:17.13 but they still come here, 00:08:17.16\00:08:19.16 and then if we get friends with them, 00:08:19.19\00:08:21.80 and slowly we can start talking about deeper things. 00:08:21.83\00:08:27.67 Yes. 00:08:27.70\00:08:29.04 Well, that's Christ' method of ministering, isn't it? 00:08:29.07\00:08:30.44 Yeah, exactly. 00:08:30.47\00:08:31.81 And people come into the shop here 00:08:31.84\00:08:34.68 who would never walk into a church building. 00:08:34.71\00:08:36.28 Yeah, yeah, exactly. 00:08:36.31\00:08:37.98 And actually, we already have some regular customers. 00:08:38.01\00:08:41.72 All of them are like, they are working around here 00:08:41.75\00:08:44.75 because there are many offices 00:08:44.79\00:08:46.45 so they do come like every week 00:08:46.49\00:08:49.59 and every time they're welcomed. 00:08:49.62\00:08:53.60 Yeah, this is nice. 00:08:53.63\00:08:55.20 This is new experience for me 00:08:55.23\00:08:56.93 and it's actually, it's working. 00:08:56.97\00:08:58.57 Yeah, that's wonderful. 00:08:58.60\00:08:59.93 Now the beauty of something like this too, 00:08:59.97\00:09:02.17 it's not just attracting people who want cheaper things, 00:09:02.20\00:09:06.37 it's also attracting people 00:09:06.41\00:09:07.74 who believe in the environment 00:09:07.78\00:09:09.84 and they like to see recycled clothes 00:09:09.88\00:09:12.88 so that we are caring for the environment, right? 00:09:12.91\00:09:15.68 Yeah, yeah, this is true. 00:09:15.72\00:09:17.05 Many people they do say that, "Oh, this is nice. 00:09:17.09\00:09:21.22 Why should I go to a real shop and buy something 00:09:21.26\00:09:24.43 if I can get from here something. 00:09:24.46\00:09:27.30 Yeah.
