(orchestra music) 00:00:00.66\00:00:02.90 - We've grown up in the church and have 00:00:05.63\00:00:07.20 always been somewhat involved in outreach. 00:00:07.20\00:00:10.04 But how can we get involved in missions overseas? 00:00:10.04\00:00:13.07 My name is Mary Ann. 00:00:13.07\00:00:14.61 - And I'm Lillyann. 00:00:14.61\00:00:16.95 We wanted to find out. 00:00:16.95\00:00:18.71 Join us on our journey 00:00:18.71\00:00:20.48 (gong banging) 00:00:20.48\00:00:22.02 to discover the culture, the lifestyle, 00:00:22.02\00:00:24.85 - The need and the mission 00:00:24.85\00:00:27.72 - In two of Southeast Asia's least reached countries. 00:00:27.72\00:00:30.86 Welcome to MissionTREK. 00:00:31.99\00:00:34.03 - Welcome to the final episode. 00:00:36.40\00:00:38.67 - Over the last 12 shows, we have covered 00:00:38.67\00:00:40.90 a lot of ground, seen a lot of new things, 00:00:40.90\00:00:43.24 and met a lot of really cool people. 00:00:43.24\00:00:45.64 - Last time, we met up with our good friend 00:00:45.64\00:00:47.74 Jim Pastore, and did a prayer tour of the city of Bangkok. 00:00:47.74\00:00:50.91 We pray that your Holy Spirit will be poured out 00:00:50.91\00:00:53.35 on this city. 00:00:53.35\00:00:56.08 - Now as this is the last episode, we wanted 00:00:56.08\00:00:58.79 to recap everything that's happened in the show. 00:00:58.79\00:01:01.02 What our favorite moments are, as well as, 00:01:01.02\00:01:02.99 an exclusive interview with our director. 00:01:02.99\00:01:05.43 - We started our trip with a layover in China, 00:01:05.43\00:01:07.76 where we visited The Great Wall. 00:01:07.76\00:01:09.50 It was such an amazing place. 00:01:09.50\00:01:10.77 - Yeah. 00:01:10.77\00:01:11.70 - China is a beautiful country. 00:01:14.00\00:01:16.04 Getting to see the Great Wall and 00:01:16.04\00:01:17.37 all the people who live there really made me think. 00:01:17.37\00:01:20.94 The majority of them live their lives appeasing 00:01:20.94\00:01:23.08 the spirits and believing in superstitions. 00:01:23.08\00:01:25.91 And yet the Adventist Church in China 00:01:27.68\00:01:29.55 has over 43,000 members. 00:01:29.55\00:01:32.19 But that is a small number compared to 00:01:33.42\00:01:35.09 the 1.3 billion people who actually live there. 00:01:35.09\00:01:38.69 - Then it was to Bangkok, where we didn't have 00:01:46.63\00:01:49.27 any time for jet lag as we went straight 00:01:49.27\00:01:51.17 to the floating market. 00:01:51.17\00:01:52.27 - It's great just being around all 00:01:53.48\00:01:54.78 the people and seeing like all the activity. 00:01:54.78\00:01:58.98 - And what they do every day. 00:01:58.98\00:02:00.82 (upbeat music) 00:02:00.82\00:02:03.45 - This is so cool! 00:02:12.86\00:02:14.20 - We have to reach them somehow 00:02:16.53\00:02:18.10 and you have to be willing to sacrifice a lot 00:02:18.10\00:02:19.80 to come and live like they do. 00:02:19.80\00:02:24.24 Next we visited Sukhothai, a city with 00:02:24.24\00:02:26.81 no known SDA presence. 00:02:26.81\00:02:29.21 (soft guitar music) 00:02:29.21\00:02:32.28 - There's over like 5 million people 00:02:34.52\00:02:36.38 that live in this valley. 00:02:36.38\00:02:38.15 And over the next five hours, 00:02:38.15\00:02:40.02 we will like not even come within a 00:02:40.02\00:02:42.49 hundred miles of a single church plant so. 00:02:42.49\00:02:46.46 (soft violin music) 00:02:47.40\00:02:50.33 - It was so weird being the only Adventist 00:03:02.98\00:03:04.98 in that whole area. 00:03:04.98\00:03:05.81 - Yeah. 00:03:05.81\00:03:06.95 From there, on to the Lahu Village. 00:03:06.95\00:03:09.68 It was an amazing experience to worship 00:03:09.68\00:03:11.72 with an entirely new people group. 00:03:11.72\00:03:13.69 People we'd never heard of before. 00:03:13.69\00:03:15.32 (upbeat music) 00:03:15.32\00:03:17.99 (singing) 00:03:23.90\00:03:26.13 They were crying that Jesus 00:03:28.90\00:03:29.97 would help them but he was sleeping. 00:03:29.97\00:03:31.81 We got to teach them something and 00:03:31.81\00:03:33.74 tell them stories and it was really fun 00:03:33.74\00:03:37.18 and it was really good. 00:03:37.18\00:03:38.11 I think that definitely you're never 00:03:38.11\00:03:41.42 too young to be a missionary. 00:03:41.42\00:03:43.08 (guitar music) 00:03:43.08\00:03:45.72 - Then we interviewed some missionaries 00:03:46.79\00:03:48.09 and got to visit Sticky Water Falls. 00:03:48.09\00:03:50.53 - When you think about what is life worth living for. 00:03:51.89\00:03:55.20 You can live for yourself or you can live for your King. 00:03:56.70\00:03:59.37 - Our lives change when we see other lives change. 00:04:00.80\00:04:03.61 - We will see how this goes. 00:04:06.98\00:04:08.61 - Here we go! 00:04:08.61\00:04:10.28 (water rushing and laughter) 00:04:10.28\00:04:14.08 - Yeah! 00:04:20.72\00:04:21.59 - Woo hoo! 00:04:23.46\00:04:24.36 - That was so much fun. 00:04:26.33\00:04:27.66 - Yes! 00:04:27.66\00:04:28.96 Especially being able to climb up the waterfall itself. 00:04:28.96\00:04:30.63 - Yeah! 00:04:30.63\00:04:31.43 - Next, the White Temple. 00:04:31.43\00:04:32.50 What an insight into a very different 00:04:32.50\00:04:35.04 religion and world view! 00:04:35.04\00:04:36.40 - This part is the Hell, I guess, 00:04:38.27\00:04:39.97 and the temple is Heaven so. 00:04:39.97\00:04:42.81 (soft music) 00:04:43.65\00:04:46.15 - They are probably constantly in fear 00:04:47.95\00:04:49.62 of offending the spirits and constantly 00:04:49.62\00:04:53.76 have to try to work hard to be good. 00:04:53.76\00:04:56.26 - I'm so thankful for Jesus who 00:04:59.13\00:05:00.86 gives us a way of peace and love for all people. 00:05:00.86\00:05:03.43 - Will you ever forget the Mae Hong Son Loop? 00:05:03.43\00:05:05.90 - Definitely not. 00:05:05.90\00:05:07.00 - Twenty hours on the back of a motorbike. 00:05:07.00\00:05:09.70 It was so beautiful and such an adventure. 00:05:09.70\00:05:12.67 It was amazing to travel through country 00:05:12.67\00:05:14.31 that we had never been through before. 00:05:14.31\00:05:15.84 - Yeah. 00:05:15.84\00:05:16.64 - We felt like adventurers. 00:05:16.64\00:05:18.15 - This is my shift lever. 00:05:19.25\00:05:21.68 (energizing music) 00:05:21.68\00:05:24.65 - We were so thankful for God's protection, 00:05:28.12\00:05:29.92 especially with the king cobra. 00:05:29.92\00:05:32.03 - Yeah, that was pretty scary. 00:05:32.03\00:05:33.73 - Yeah. 00:05:33.73\00:05:34.83 But I loved our short visit with the Sharons. 00:05:34.83\00:05:37.20 Visiting the refugee camp and watching how 00:05:37.20\00:05:39.17 Mr. Sharon teaches through English through Bible stories, 00:05:39.17\00:05:41.70 as well as seeing how Mrs. Sharon 00:05:41.70\00:05:43.84 helps the people with natural remedies, 00:05:43.84\00:05:46.04 and how they built their house with their own hands. 00:05:46.04\00:05:48.54 The villagers love them and 00:05:48.54\00:05:49.81 they really love the villagers. 00:05:49.81\00:05:51.11 - Yeah, it's really obvious. 00:05:51.11\00:05:52.41 - Yeah. 00:05:52.41\00:05:53.52 - It was so cool to meet the missionaries 00:05:53.52\00:05:56.05 of Sunshine Orchards and see how they 00:05:56.05\00:05:57.82 live and work among the local people. 00:05:57.82\00:05:59.75 - Yes. 00:05:59.75\00:06:00.96 - We've been visiting a lot of missionaries 00:06:00.96\00:06:02.46 and like just seeing like, how they do 00:06:02.46\00:06:04.49 everyday life and they seem really happy 00:06:04.49\00:06:07.23 and it's exciting to just see 00:06:07.23\00:06:09.86 what difference that they are making 00:06:09.86\00:06:10.97 in the world around them so. 00:06:10.97\00:06:12.47 We're here at a village this afternoon. 00:06:14.97\00:06:17.71 We're doing like a branch Sabbath School thing. 00:06:17.71\00:06:20.88 It's just like huge culture shock. 00:06:20.88\00:06:23.78 Like, I don't know. 00:06:23.78\00:06:25.11 (rooster crows) 00:06:25.11\00:06:27.65 It's just like, wow! 00:06:27.65\00:06:30.05 Kind of. 00:06:31.22\00:06:32.69 You read about stuff like this, 00:06:32.69\00:06:34.29 but to actually be here is just like... 00:06:34.29\00:06:36.99 You get all the smells and everything. 00:06:36.99\00:06:39.19 - And the time spent with Auntie Gail 00:06:41.00\00:06:42.70 at her clinic in the mountains of Thailand 00:06:42.70\00:06:44.47 was really special. 00:06:44.47\00:06:45.57 - Lilyann, it doesn't look very steep in the camera. 00:06:49.20\00:06:50.71 How does it feel in real life? 00:06:50.71\00:06:52.71 - It's like this. 00:06:52.71\00:06:54.84 - Our back wheel was just right here on the edge. 00:06:54.84\00:06:58.28 It's only the angel of the Lord that stopped us. 00:06:58.28\00:07:01.02 The great need here is what keeps us here 00:07:03.49\00:07:06.22 because we wanna see as many people in Heaven 00:07:06.22\00:07:10.59 as is possible for us to reach and Jesus is coming 00:07:10.59\00:07:14.13 soon and I feel such an urgency to spread the 00:07:14.13\00:07:17.80 word of God in these areas that 00:07:17.80\00:07:20.40 there's mountain after mountain and 00:07:20.40\00:07:21.90 village after village and nobody knows. 00:07:21.90\00:07:24.21 This is the biggest joy you could 00:07:25.94\00:07:28.21 ever have this side of Heaven. 00:07:28.21\00:07:29.78 - It's a little lady with a big truck and 00:07:31.35\00:07:33.35 a big heart, what an example of caring 00:07:33.35\00:07:35.32 and love she is. 00:07:35.32\00:07:37.05 - It was so strange going back to the city 00:07:37.05\00:07:38.92 after being in the jungle for so long 00:07:38.92\00:07:41.12 but I'm so glad that God calls people to all places. 00:07:41.12\00:07:44.06 - We loved our time visiting the Temples with the 00:07:44.06\00:07:46.33 Whitzens as well as the slum with Josh and Judy Bauder. 00:07:46.33\00:07:49.63 - After you make a friend with somebody, 00:07:50.70\00:07:52.70 then they start telling you 00:07:52.70\00:07:53.67 some of their problems, right? 00:07:53.67\00:07:55.27 And once you get to know what some of their 00:07:55.27\00:07:56.57 problems are, then you can actually start praying for them. 00:07:56.57\00:07:58.87 (gong bangs) 00:07:58.87\00:08:00.34 - When they start asking questions 00:08:00.34\00:08:01.88 "well who is this Jesus that is helping me 00:08:01.88\00:08:03.68 and has blessed me and done these things"? 00:08:03.68\00:08:05.65 We can then begin to share with them who Jesus was. 00:08:05.65\00:08:08.85 - So we just got here at the slum. 00:08:09.95\00:08:13.32 (teaching in Thai) 00:08:13.32\00:08:16.42 - It's been a year-and-a-half long struggle 00:08:16.42\00:08:18.66 trying to get these kids to behave. 00:08:18.66\00:08:20.53 And now, you know, you can walk around with them. 00:08:20.53\00:08:23.23 They're being good kids and 00:08:23.23\00:08:24.77 that's God working inside of them. 00:08:26.20\00:08:27.97 - They have such an amazing love for the kids. 00:08:30.07\00:08:31.91 - They do. 00:08:31.91\00:08:32.74 - Yeah. 00:08:32.74\00:08:33.78 - Our trip to Cambodia was so amazing. 00:08:33.78\00:08:34.88 - What Tim and Wendy Maddocks have done 00:08:34.88\00:08:37.68 through their willingness to surrender 00:08:37.68\00:08:38.78 everything to God is truly incredible. 00:08:38.78\00:08:41.65 - Mmm hmm. 00:08:41.65\00:08:42.62 - We started out as missionaries 00:08:44.12\00:08:45.82 when we were 21 and 20. 00:08:45.82\00:08:48.22 And it's just been an amazing life, 00:08:48.22\00:08:50.23 an amazing journey. 00:08:50.23\00:08:51.66 As God builds our faith and our trust in Him 00:08:51.66\00:08:54.86 He gives us more to do and takes us deeper 00:08:54.86\00:08:58.00 into this journey with Him. 00:08:58.00\00:09:00.17 - And then visiting the global missionary pioneer 00:09:02.84\00:09:04.71 and hearing the story of how his daughter 00:09:04.71\00:09:06.41 was raised to life through prayer. 00:09:06.41\00:09:07.91 - That was really inspiring. 00:09:07.91\00:09:08.81 - It was. 00:09:08.81\00:09:09.91 - And remember how Miranda just blended 00:09:09.91\00:09:11.88 in with her Muslim neighborhood and 00:09:11.88\00:09:14.02 befriended them and seemed to feels so at home there? 00:09:14.02\00:09:16.45 - Yeah. 00:09:16.45\00:09:17.29 (soothing guitar music) 00:09:17.29\00:09:20.52 - And last but not least, back in Bangkok, 00:09:27.50\00:09:30.23 the Atwell's amazing act of faith in building 00:09:30.23\00:09:32.70 the center of influence. 00:09:32.70\00:09:34.07 - Basically we quit our jobs and sold everything 00:09:35.20\00:09:37.77 that we had that was of any value and 00:09:37.77\00:09:40.01 gave away the rest and moved over here. 00:09:40.01\00:09:42.78 - I love our life. 00:09:42.78\00:09:43.58 I don't ever want to go back. 00:09:43.58\00:09:45.31 It's perfect here. 00:09:45.31\00:09:47.22 - And the prayer walk with Jim was a 00:09:49.45\00:09:51.05 wonderful finale to an epic adventure. 00:09:51.05\00:09:53.56 - I heard that Bangkok is one of the most visited 00:09:53.56\00:09:57.16 places in the world. 00:09:57.16\00:09:58.96 How many people are here in Bangkok? 00:09:58.96\00:10:00.30 - Twelve million people live in Bangkok. 00:10:00.30\00:10:03.43 - Just in the city alone? 00:10:03.43\00:10:04.37 - Just in the city. 00:10:04.37\00:10:05.37 - And how many Christians are there? 00:10:05.37\00:10:07.20 - Twelve hundred Adventists in a city of 12 million. 00:10:07.20\00:10:10.47 - Ninety-nine percent have not known Christ. 00:10:10.47\00:10:14.28 If the Holy Spirit empowers these people, 00:10:14.28\00:10:18.31 this city could be lighted up, 00:10:18.31\00:10:19.58 could be lighted up with God's glory. 00:10:19.58\00:10:21.58 - I still pray for Thailand and Cambodia everyday. 00:10:24.89\00:10:27.52 Feels like everywhere you travel, 00:10:27.52\00:10:29.39 you gain something and you leave 00:10:29.39\00:10:30.86 a little part of your heart there. 00:10:30.86\00:10:33.03 - It was incredible to meet all the amazing 00:10:33.03\00:10:35.03 missionaries and we both really hope to return someday. 00:10:35.03\00:10:38.43 - But for now, we pray for them. 00:10:38.43\00:10:40.54 We send our offerings and we tell others about the need. 00:10:40.54\00:10:43.30 Who knows, maybe God will call one of us or you 00:10:43.30\00:10:46.54 to the mission field and then someone will 00:10:46.54\00:10:48.38 be in Heaven because of us. 00:10:48.38\00:10:50.05 What a wonderful way to live life? 00:10:50.05\00:10:52.15 - Yes. 00:10:52.15\00:10:53.38 I know this trip has been a blessing. 00:10:53.38\00:10:54.98 Is there any specific way that you would 00:10:54.98\00:10:57.05 say that it has changed you? 00:10:57.05\00:10:59.09 - I feel like this trip has really expanded 00:10:59.09\00:11:00.92 our minds, our world view and our friend circle. 00:11:00.92\00:11:03.99 We got to see God use ordinary people 00:11:03.99\00:11:06.46 to do extraordinary things and it's 00:11:06.46\00:11:09.00 given us something to pray for and hope for. 00:11:09.00\00:11:11.10 We hope it has done the same for you. 00:11:11.10\00:11:13.47 - Yeah. 00:11:13.47\00:11:14.80 And now we would like to do something 00:11:14.80\00:11:16.50 extra special and introduce you to our 00:11:16.50\00:11:18.31 producer, James Wood. 00:11:18.31\00:11:19.61 - Hi guys! 00:11:21.34\00:11:22.18 - Hey! 00:11:22.18\00:11:22.98 Welcome to the MissionTREK set. 00:11:22.98\00:11:23.95 - Thank you. 00:11:23.95\00:11:24.78 Thank you for having me. 00:11:24.78\00:11:25.61 - Yeah. 00:11:25.61\00:11:26.61 - He and his Dad followed us with cameras 00:11:26.61\00:11:28.22 and documented the trip. 00:11:28.22\00:11:30.09 He's also done a lot of work on the editing 00:11:30.09\00:11:31.99 and the set design. 00:11:31.99\00:11:33.76 - So how much work has this been for you? 00:11:33.76\00:11:35.26 - It's been a lot of work, especially 00:11:35.26\00:11:37.33 the shooting part, because we were constantly on the go 00:11:37.33\00:11:40.53 every single day and it got really really tiring. 00:11:40.53\00:11:43.10 We slept in like 28 beds in 45 days, which is a lot. 00:11:43.10\00:11:46.87 - Yeah. 00:11:46.87\00:11:48.14 - So and then after that, the editing part 00:11:48.14\00:11:50.04 was also a lot of work too. 00:11:50.04\00:11:51.57 - Mmm hmm. 00:11:51.57\00:11:52.54 - So did you enjoy the trip? 00:11:52.54\00:11:53.61 - Yeah I did. 00:11:53.61\00:11:54.44 It was a lot of fun. 00:11:54.44\00:11:55.98 It was also a big challenge because it's my first show 00:11:55.98\00:11:57.51 but I'm really thankful we came out with something 00:11:57.51\00:11:59.31 we can actually work with. 00:11:59.31\00:12:00.58 God really blessed. 00:12:00.58\00:12:01.42 - Mmm hmm. 00:12:01.42\00:12:03.02 - Why did you want to do this show? 00:12:03.02\00:12:04.85 - I didn't actually. 00:12:04.85\00:12:06.45 When we first started talking about it, 00:12:06.45\00:12:08.09 I thought it was a really cool idea, 00:12:08.09\00:12:09.52 but I had school and other things that 00:12:09.52\00:12:11.26 I wanted to devote my time to, 00:12:11.26\00:12:12.69 and so I didn't think I had the time to do this. 00:12:12.69\00:12:14.83 But people started talking about it and 00:12:14.83\00:12:16.50 it became something that we never knew 00:12:16.50\00:12:20.40 it would become and people started providing 00:12:20.40\00:12:22.14 money and God started providing plans 00:12:22.14\00:12:25.11 and things were lining up so I'm really 00:12:25.11\00:12:27.14 thankful that it happened and I'm really 00:12:27.14\00:12:28.61 thankful and I love what it's become but 00:12:28.61\00:12:31.35 I in the beginning I didn't want to do it. 00:12:31.35\00:12:33.15 - Well, we're thankful that it became a thing too. 00:12:33.15\00:12:36.35 Because we're it's something we can all be 00:12:36.35\00:12:37.45 really proud of and really thankful to God 00:12:37.45\00:12:40.02 that it actually happened. 00:12:40.02\00:12:41.46 - Mmm hmm. 00:12:41.46\00:12:42.76 Would you recommend missions to other people? 00:12:42.76\00:12:43.99 - Of course. 00:12:43.99\00:12:45.29 I had the opportunity when I was 15 to take a 00:12:45.29\00:12:47.30 gap year and go to Asia for like five months 00:12:47.30\00:12:49.90 and it was a really good experience. 00:12:49.90\00:12:51.97 I learned a lot. 00:12:51.97\00:12:53.23 I got to meet a lot of new people and 00:12:53.23\00:12:54.87 experience a lot of new things. 00:12:54.87\00:12:56.47 So yeah, it was a really good experience. 00:12:56.47\00:12:58.84 I would definitely recommend it. 00:12:58.84\00:13:00.18 - Yeah, I agree. 00:13:00.18\00:13:01.28 I would recommend to other people too. 00:13:01.28\00:13:02.18 - Me too. 00:13:02.18\00:13:03.41 What was it like producing your first show? 00:13:03.41\00:13:05.11 - It was crazy. 00:13:05.11\00:13:06.48 There's so many things that go into the making of it, 00:13:06.48\00:13:08.28 not just the filming. 00:13:08.28\00:13:09.38 You have to set up meetings with people 00:13:09.38\00:13:11.15 and direct with people and places and 00:13:11.15\00:13:13.96 just coordinate where everything is going. 00:13:13.96\00:13:16.46 It's a lot of work but it was a lot of fun. 00:13:16.46\00:13:17.79 I'm really thankful to everybody that 00:13:17.79\00:13:19.86 put their time into it, my dad, the editors 00:13:19.86\00:13:21.86 and Jesus for Asia especially. 00:13:21.86\00:13:23.63 - What was your biggest challenge? 00:13:23.63\00:13:25.47 - I had two biggest challenges on this trip. 00:13:25.47\00:13:28.30 One of them, I got sick up in Northern Thailand 00:13:28.30\00:13:30.64 and the other one, while we were shooting, 00:13:30.64\00:13:32.64 my computer was stolen and that was really hard 00:13:32.64\00:13:34.61 because I had a lot of work on there for 00:13:34.61\00:13:36.38 MissionTREK and other stuff that got lost 00:13:36.38\00:13:38.95 and I couldn't get it back so yeah that was 00:13:38.95\00:13:41.95 a big bummer but God, God worked it out. 00:13:41.95\00:13:44.59 - What was the most rewarding part? 00:13:44.59\00:13:46.59 - The most rewarding part for me will probably 00:13:46.59\00:13:48.76 be when it's done because all this work that 00:13:48.76\00:13:50.93 we've put into it and everything you know 00:13:50.93\00:13:53.29 all the time that we've spent on this show 00:13:53.29\00:13:56.00 when it's done, I hope that this show will 00:13:56.00\00:13:58.40 inspire the people that are watching it to 00:13:58.40\00:14:00.14 go over and experience what it's like over there. 00:14:00.14\00:14:02.40 Even if they go over there for like a week or so 00:14:02.40\00:14:04.67 just to see what we're talking about and 00:14:04.67\00:14:07.28 learn what it's like you know? 00:14:07.28\00:14:09.48 It's really cool and I hope that 00:14:09.48\00:14:11.15 everybody can experience that. 00:14:11.15\00:14:12.28 - So do we. 00:14:12.28\00:14:13.42 - So were there any shots or any footage 00:14:14.55\00:14:16.85 that you missed that you wish you could have gotten? 00:14:16.85\00:14:19.52 - If I could, I would go back and shoot the whole thing 00:14:19.52\00:14:22.36 again because there's so much that we learned towards 00:14:22.36\00:14:25.06 the end of the show, that I wish that we could 00:14:25.06\00:14:26.93 have shown, done, at the beginning. 00:14:26.93\00:14:29.13 - Yeah. 00:14:29.13\00:14:30.53 - Because looking back at the beginning of the show 00:14:30.53\00:14:31.60 is kind of like a rocky start but you know, 00:14:31.60\00:14:33.84 it's what it is and I'm really thankful for 00:14:33.84\00:14:36.04 where it is so it's good. 00:14:36.04\00:14:37.31 - Mmm hmm, yeah. 00:14:37.31\00:14:38.41 - There are a couple of specific shots 00:14:38.41\00:14:39.87 that I wish I could have gotten though, 00:14:39.87\00:14:41.01 especially when we were on the Mae Hong Son Loop 00:14:41.01\00:14:43.41 and we ran across that cobra, 00:14:43.41\00:14:45.11 that would have been really cool. 00:14:45.11\00:14:46.45 And then, when we were walking through Bangkok, 00:14:46.45\00:14:48.32 there was a guy that bit off a scorpion right 00:14:48.32\00:14:51.09 in front of us and you guys screamed. 00:14:51.09\00:14:52.55 I wish that we could have gotten that but 00:14:52.55\00:14:54.32 we didn't have the cameras out and we 00:14:54.32\00:14:55.39 were behind you guys so it's okay, but yeah. 00:14:55.39\00:14:59.13 - Yeah. 00:14:59.13\00:14:59.96 - Yeah. 00:14:59.96\00:15:01.13 We're kind of glad they didn't get one of those. 00:15:01.13\00:15:02.16 (laughter) 00:15:02.16\00:15:04.23 - There's always something that you know you wish 00:15:04.23\00:15:06.03 you could have gotten, but. 00:15:06.03\00:15:06.97 - Well, yeah. 00:15:06.97\00:15:08.07 That's the way it is with everything. 00:15:08.07\00:15:08.60 - Mmm hmm. 00:15:08.60\00:15:09.70 The way it turned out, you think? 00:15:09.70\00:15:10.37 - It's been good. 00:15:10.37\00:15:12.01 - Mmm hmm. 00:15:12.01\00:15:12.84 - Mmm hmm. Yeah. 00:15:12.84\00:15:14.74 So what about you guys? 00:15:14.74\00:15:16.11 What were your favorite places that we went to on the show? 00:15:16.11\00:15:18.18 - Well for me, my favorite place was definitely 00:15:18.18\00:15:20.92 Auntie Gail's because I really like medical stuff 00:15:20.92\00:15:23.89 and I'm just really inspired by what she's doing out there. 00:15:23.89\00:15:26.82 - Mmm hmm. 00:15:26.82\00:15:27.92 - My favorite place was Josh Bauder's project 00:15:27.92\00:15:29.99 with the slum and the kids there. 00:15:29.99\00:15:31.49 I enjoyed interacting with the children and 00:15:31.49\00:15:34.20 helping with that. 00:15:34.20\00:15:35.50 - That's awesome. 00:15:35.50\00:15:36.56 Yeah, those are really cool places. 00:15:36.56\00:15:38.10 - Yeah. 00:15:38.10\00:15:39.20 - So we've been to all these places 00:15:39.20\00:15:40.77 and gone through all these experiences 00:15:40.77\00:15:42.40 what are some of the things that surprised 00:15:42.40\00:15:44.67 you guys the most? 00:15:44.67\00:15:45.77 I know you've been there before but 00:15:45.77\00:15:48.54 this trip, what surprised you guys the most? 00:15:48.54\00:15:51.58 - Well, no matter how many times I go, 00:15:51.58\00:15:53.75 I'm always surprised by just how friendly 00:15:53.75\00:15:57.12 everybody is, like they take the Golden Rule, 00:15:57.12\00:16:00.82 like treat others as you would have them treat you, 00:16:00.82\00:16:03.19 like seriously, and they don't even know about it. 00:16:03.19\00:16:04.96 - Mmm hmm. 00:16:04.96\00:16:06.03 - Like they're always so friendly, yeah. 00:16:06.03\00:16:08.03 - I agree with that but also what stood out to me 00:16:08.03\00:16:10.57 I think especially this last time, was when we went 00:16:10.57\00:16:13.10 to the villages and the villagers like they live 00:16:13.10\00:16:14.97 in those villages they have almost nothing, 00:16:14.97\00:16:17.81 but yet they're happy, like they're so willing 00:16:17.81\00:16:19.21 to share what they do have with you and 00:16:19.21\00:16:23.18 here in America we just like we have so much stuff 00:16:24.55\00:16:26.15 we don't even realize and we always 00:16:26.15\00:16:27.38 are wanting more and it's just... 00:16:27.38\00:16:28.62 - And nobody is truly happy. 00:16:28.62\00:16:30.12 - Exactly. 00:16:30.12\00:16:31.19 - So money doesn't buy happiness? 00:16:31.19\00:16:33.29 - No it doesn't. 00:16:33.29\00:16:34.62 So speaking of happiness, if you notice all the 00:16:34.62\00:16:37.36 missionaries we went to, they were all really happy. 00:16:37.36\00:16:40.33 And I'm curious, what are some of the things that inspired 00:16:40.33\00:16:42.53 you the most of the people that we went and visited? 00:16:42.53\00:16:46.50 - I was inspired by how they follow God step by step 00:16:46.50\00:16:49.24 through everything, like how the Atwell's, you know, 00:16:49.24\00:16:51.87 they just moved over from America, not knowing 00:16:51.87\00:16:54.51 what they were going to do, and then, you know 00:16:54.51\00:16:56.54 God just opened the door for them as they followed. 00:16:56.54\00:16:59.65 - Yeah. 00:16:59.65\00:17:01.08 - I was most inspired by you know what Lil said obviously, 00:17:01.08\00:17:04.22 but also how they are willing to take on stuff that's 00:17:04.22\00:17:09.29 so much bigger than themselves because they know 00:17:10.56\00:17:12.16 they have God with him. 00:17:12.16\00:17:13.70 Like Auntie Gail is like 64. 00:17:13.70\00:17:15.60 She's pretty much by herself up in the mountains, 00:17:15.60\00:17:18.20 you know, but she's not scared and like they all 00:17:18.20\00:17:22.64 have their own, like they all have such amazing faith. 00:17:22.64\00:17:27.71 - Yeah. 00:17:28.11\00:17:29.44 That's one of the things that inspired me the most too, 00:17:29.44\00:17:30.68 was the faith and persistence that they have. 00:17:30.68\00:17:33.78 Like for example like the Maddocks in Cambodia, 00:17:33.78\00:17:37.62 they're out there, they go out there, and 00:17:37.62\00:17:40.66 there's nothing out there when they first started 00:17:40.66\00:17:42.69 and look at what God has built in this new 00:17:42.69\00:17:45.83 Butterfly Paradise, it's amazing and just 00:17:45.83\00:17:49.63 seeing where God has led each everyone one of them 00:17:49.63\00:17:52.60 it really inspires me a lot. 00:17:52.60\00:17:54.87 - Mmm hmm. 00:17:54.87\00:17:55.70 - Yeah, for sure. 00:17:55.70\00:17:57.11 - On this trip, we got to see a lot of missionaries 00:17:57.11\00:17:59.74 and visit a lot of cool projects but we also got to 00:17:59.74\00:18:03.71 do a lot of fun things. 00:18:03.71\00:18:05.28 What were the most fun things that you guys were able to do? 00:18:05.28\00:18:08.72 - Well, I really enjoyed the Sticky Water Falls. 00:18:08.72\00:18:11.39 It was so much fun being all wet. 00:18:11.39\00:18:14.12 It was really hot and the water was cold; 00:18:14.12\00:18:15.76 that was really nice. 00:18:15.76\00:18:17.09 And also the cooking class with Jim, that was a lot of fun. 00:18:17.09\00:18:20.76 - Yeah, I also really liked the Sticky Water Falls. 00:18:20.76\00:18:23.90 That was a lot of fun. 00:18:23.90\00:18:24.77 - It was. 00:18:24.77\00:18:26.13 - But I enjoyed getting to see the Great Wall of China 00:18:26.13\00:18:27.27 like that's a once in a lifetime experience. 00:18:27.27\00:18:28.84 - Yeah, that was pretty cool. 00:18:28.84\00:18:29.94 - We've been to Thailand a lot and 00:18:29.94\00:18:31.97 one of my favorite things to do while we're there 00:18:31.97\00:18:33.51 is to ride motorcycles so for me the Mae Hong Son Loop 00:18:33.51\00:18:36.78 was really fun but also what you guys said those 00:18:36.78\00:18:39.11 were really good experiences too. 00:18:39.11\00:18:41.12 - Yeah. 00:18:41.12\00:18:42.98 - So speaking of fun, we had a lot of that, 00:18:42.98\00:18:46.59 but we also had challenges too. 00:18:46.59\00:18:48.46 What were some of the most challenging parts for you guys? 00:18:48.46\00:18:51.43 - I think for me personally, I got sick when we 00:18:52.66\00:18:55.86 were at Sunshine Orchards, and when you're sick 00:18:55.86\00:18:59.27 you know, you just really kind of want to be home 00:18:59.27\00:19:01.30 and comfortable, and there was no AC, there were 00:19:01.30\00:19:05.74 not proper like bathrooms and stuff, which normally, 00:19:05.74\00:19:08.31 I wouldn't mind, but I was, that was really tough. 00:19:08.31\00:19:11.75 - When you're sick it kind of magnifies all the problems. 00:19:11.75\00:19:13.38 - Yeah. 00:19:13.38\00:19:14.48 - Thankfully, I didn't really get sick, but 00:19:14.48\00:19:16.85 I think the hardest thing for me was like 00:19:16.85\00:19:19.75 seeing so many new things, like we were 00:19:19.75\00:19:22.92 moving a lot, constantly like having to take, 00:19:22.92\00:19:25.39 like even though I'd been there before, 00:19:25.39\00:19:26.53 it was just so abnormal from what we're used to 00:19:26.53\00:19:29.30 it was like sensory overload and it just 00:19:29.30\00:19:31.77 exhausted me actually. 00:19:31.77\00:19:33.34 - Yeah. 00:19:33.34\00:19:34.37 Almost like culture shock kind of. 00:19:34.37\00:19:35.67 - Yeah, mmm hmmm. 00:19:35.67\00:19:37.41 - And speaking of new things, one of the new things 00:19:37.41\00:19:38.87 that we got to see on this trip were some new 00:19:38.87\00:19:41.14 people groups that we'd never been to before. 00:19:41.14\00:19:42.94 How do you see them now? 00:19:42.94\00:19:46.08 Like after meeting them and getting to know 00:19:46.08\00:19:49.15 them a little bit from this trip, how do you see them? 00:19:49.15\00:19:53.79 - Well, because I've spent almost two months of my life 00:19:53.79\00:19:55.86 living around them, I feel like the missionary call 00:19:55.86\00:19:58.49 has a greater impact on me personally because I've 00:19:58.49\00:20:01.03 gotten to know them personally. 00:20:01.03\00:20:04.03 - Yeah. 00:20:04.03\00:20:05.37 For me, like, when you're here, it's so easy to 00:20:05.37\00:20:07.87 become desensitized to the people over there, 00:20:07.87\00:20:10.17 even if you know they're over there, but like 00:20:10.17\00:20:12.84 when you go over there, at first it's just like 00:20:12.84\00:20:15.41 a shock how many people there are that don't know Jesus. 00:20:15.41\00:20:18.98 And when you come back, it's even more of a shock 00:20:18.98\00:20:21.58 because there's so many Christians here 00:20:21.58\00:20:23.32 that could do something that aren't doing anything. 00:20:23.32\00:20:26.99 - Because they don't even know, which is sad, 00:20:26.99\00:20:29.12 because like they've distanced themselves from that. 00:20:29.12\00:20:31.73 - Yeah. 00:20:31.73\00:20:33.06 - And we live in a society that teaches us to do 00:20:33.06\00:20:35.66 everything we can to survive on our own and we 00:20:35.66\00:20:38.00 forget about them so easily. 00:20:38.00\00:20:39.37 So now that the trip is over, and we've gone back 00:20:40.84\00:20:43.61 and looked over everything that we've done, 00:20:43.61\00:20:45.37 what would you guys say to your former selves 00:20:45.37\00:20:47.78 and people that haven't gone and haven't experienced 00:20:47.78\00:20:50.98 the things that you have? 00:20:50.98\00:20:52.51 - I feel like it's really important for us not to 00:20:52.51\00:20:54.85 forget about people. 00:20:54.85\00:20:56.32 Like Mary Ann said earlier, we tend to do that 00:20:56.32\00:20:57.59 when we come home, we need to make a point 00:20:57.59\00:21:00.19 to not, and to like, pray for them. 00:21:00.19\00:21:02.62 - Yeah. 00:21:02.62\00:21:03.69 - Yeah. 00:21:03.69\00:21:04.76 And like especially keeping in touch 00:21:04.76\00:21:06.83 with different projects they all have blogs, 00:21:06.83\00:21:09.36 most of the missionaries anyways, 00:21:09.36\00:21:11.53 they have blog sites you can check out. 00:21:11.53\00:21:13.20 Just follow their life and it helps you to keep perspective. 00:21:13.20\00:21:17.54 - Yeah. 00:21:17.54\00:21:18.67 And another thing is, you could go. 00:21:18.67\00:21:20.71 It may seem scary at first, but it's one of the 00:21:20.71\00:21:22.71 best decisions you could make. 00:21:22.71\00:21:24.51 - Yes, definitely. 00:21:24.51\00:21:25.78 100% recommend it. 00:21:25.78\00:21:27.32 Well, this has been a pretty serious show. 00:21:28.42\00:21:31.29 But for the behind the scenes and the last episode, 00:21:31.29\00:21:33.72 we wanted to put together little something for 00:21:33.72\00:21:35.99 you guys that shows that mission work and 00:21:35.99\00:21:37.86 shooting shows can be really fun. 00:21:37.86\00:21:40.30 So here's a little blooper reel. 00:21:40.30\00:21:42.16 - Well, I don't want to look awkward. 00:21:43.47\00:21:44.47 (laughter) 00:21:44.47\00:21:46.90 And now I'm just laughing because 00:21:46.90\00:21:47.87 I'm afraid I look awkward. 00:21:47.87\00:21:49.84 - But we do get to share with you 00:21:49.84\00:21:51.24 (tongue twisted) 00:21:51.24\00:21:52.77 - Hey, welcome to the MissionTREK show. 00:21:52.77\00:21:55.18 - Today we are going to see some really exciting 00:21:59.11\00:22:00.72 things as well as... 00:22:00.72\00:22:01.52 - (Josh) No, smile naturally. 00:22:01.52\00:22:03.08 - I don't smile naturally. 00:22:03.89\00:22:06.32 - What are you about to laugh about? 00:22:06.32\00:22:08.02 - I'm sorry. 00:22:08.02\00:22:09.12 I wasn't and then you started smiling. 00:22:09.12\00:22:10.39 - Now I'm gonna laugh. 00:22:10.39\00:22:12.23 (laughter) 00:22:12.23\00:22:14.56 - On the way we'll be traveling through 00:22:15.63\00:22:16.93 a large part of toyla 00:22:16.93\00:22:18.33 (laughter) 00:22:18.33\00:22:20.74 I was gonna say toyland, I don't know why. 00:22:20.74\00:22:24.57 - There about 13 million people that live there? 00:22:24.57\00:22:27.28 (laughter) 00:22:28.64\00:22:30.81 - So earlier we were talking about... 00:22:30.81\00:22:33.21 That was crazy, and the roads were really windy. 00:22:34.75\00:22:37.99 - Windy?? 00:22:37.99\00:22:38.82 - That's what it says. 00:22:38.82\00:22:40.19 Windy, ohh my word! 00:22:40.19\00:22:41.82 (laughter) 00:22:41.82\00:22:44.16 Would you mind explaining just a little bit 00:22:45.43\00:22:46.36 of what that is? 00:22:46.36\00:22:47.60 - No... 00:22:47.60\00:22:48.56 (laughter) 00:22:48.56\00:22:50.80 - The next day though was really 00:22:52.23\00:22:53.54 hard because we had to travel 210 hours. 00:22:53.54\00:22:57.47 (laughter) 00:22:57.47\00:22:59.71 - (Josh) In one day! 00:23:00.64\00:23:02.21 - You even had to use your legs to like 00:23:02.21\00:23:04.18 try to make it to the top. 00:23:04.18\00:23:06.15 - Yeah, that was pretty challenging. 00:23:06.15\00:23:08.08 - Yeah, it looked like it. 00:23:08.08\00:23:09.15 - Yeah, I couldn't even touch the ground. 00:23:09.15\00:23:10.65 Oh my word, I'm not saying that. 00:23:10.65\00:23:13.99 - I don't know what you find funny, honestly. 00:23:13.99\00:23:16.32 - Every time I look at you. 00:23:17.33\00:23:18.39 (laughter) 00:23:18.39\00:23:20.53 (clapping) 00:23:20.53\00:23:22.80 - You have so many more embarrassing things 00:23:25.63\00:23:28.07 to put in the bloopers than I do, I'm just like... 00:23:28.07\00:23:29.74 - It's cause all your bloopers are just you 00:23:29.74\00:23:31.71 laughing at me making a fool out of myself. 00:23:31.71\00:23:33.94 - Yeah, yeah. 00:23:33.94\00:23:34.84 (tapping on desk) 00:23:34.84\00:23:37.75 - Please pray that Butterfly Baradis 00:23:40.28\00:23:42.15 - Butterfly Baradise. 00:23:42.98\00:23:44.15 - I know! 00:23:44.15\00:23:45.62 Please pray... 00:23:45.62\00:23:46.62 (laughter) 00:23:46.62\00:23:47.99 - And they bought a pizzeria from a dude who learned... 00:23:47.99\00:23:50.73 Dude! 00:23:50.73\00:23:51.63 - Of course like, they have... 00:23:54.93\00:23:56.53 truggles. 00:23:58.43\00:23:59.27 - (Josh) Truggles. 00:23:59.27\00:24:00.47 It's a combination of struggles and trials. 00:24:00.47\00:24:02.27 - Yes 00:24:02.27\00:24:03.07 - (Josh) They have truggles. 00:24:03.07\00:24:03.94 It's a new word. 00:24:03.94\00:24:05.87 I love it. 00:24:05.87\00:24:06.78 - We really hope you enjoyed that. 00:24:08.21\00:24:09.94 And now that we've completely lost all of your respect, 00:24:09.94\00:24:13.08 we're going to give you a little update on 00:24:13.08\00:24:15.18 some of the projects that we visited 00:24:15.18\00:24:16.62 so you can see where they are now. 00:24:16.62\00:24:18.99 - And even thought the show is ending, 00:24:18.99\00:24:20.56 those few missionaries that we met, 00:24:20.56\00:24:21.69 are still out there, still moving forward 00:24:21.69\00:24:23.86 by God's grace, through faith. 00:24:23.86\00:24:25.73 - Auntie Gail recently had the first Evangelistic 00:24:25.73\00:24:28.43 series in her part of the world. 00:24:28.43\00:24:30.30 People were baptized. 00:24:30.30\00:24:31.60 Their church has to be enlarged. 00:24:31.60\00:24:33.44 God is really doing amazing things. 00:24:33.44\00:24:35.94 - So yesterday was the High Sabbath. 00:24:35.94\00:24:38.51 That was the day we were to have a baptism 00:24:39.61\00:24:41.58 for the second time in eight years. 00:24:41.58\00:24:44.11 There were 16 precious souls that wanted 00:24:44.11\00:24:48.02 to be baptized so they were all baptized right here. 00:24:48.02\00:24:52.42 I sat right here on the bank and I took pictures 00:24:52.42\00:24:56.36 of everyone but I just had to cry tears of joy 00:24:56.36\00:24:59.79 because it means so much. 00:24:59.79\00:25:02.23 We have been through so much darkness here. 00:25:02.23\00:25:05.23 (guitar music and voices singing) 00:25:05.23\00:25:09.37 - Some experiences, you can't describe it. 00:25:09.37\00:25:13.34 You just feel good inside. 00:25:13.34\00:25:15.64 Nobody else can feel that. 00:25:15.64\00:25:17.81 - Love for Asia bought a used truck 00:25:20.05\00:25:21.58 and converted it into a mobile production vehicle. 00:25:21.58\00:25:24.52 They recorded Gail's evangelistic series 00:25:24.52\00:25:27.26 and it was the first ever Korean 00:25:27.26\00:25:30.19 evangelistic series to be recorded. 00:25:30.19\00:25:31.89 Which is really awesome. 00:25:31.89\00:25:33.46 - That is really awesome. 00:25:33.46\00:25:34.76 - We were thinking aww man it would be so much 00:25:35.86\00:25:37.43 better to have a 4x4 truck, that we could have 00:25:37.43\00:25:41.20 all our gear and roll up to any site anywhere 00:25:41.20\00:25:44.04 pull out the cameras, the gear, and then record. 00:25:44.04\00:25:48.38 It seemed like a pipe dream. 00:25:48.38\00:25:49.58 It seemed like too much. 00:25:49.58\00:25:51.45 Actually, it only dawned on me this week 00:25:51.45\00:25:54.45 that that was the dream we had four years ago. 00:25:54.45\00:25:57.59 It's really amazing how God brings things about. 00:25:57.59\00:26:00.16 There's so much potential with what we're able to do now. 00:26:02.39\00:26:05.79 - I just pray that hearts will be changed and 00:26:07.10\00:26:09.33 that many many of the people here and everywhere 00:26:09.33\00:26:12.53 that that media truck goes can be in Heaven because of it. 00:26:12.53\00:26:15.64 - And now other Korean people can listen to that 00:26:17.21\00:26:19.21 without having to go anywhere. 00:26:19.21\00:26:20.38 - Yes. 00:26:20.38\00:26:21.18 It's really really awesome. 00:26:21.18\00:26:22.04 - Yeah. 00:26:22.04\00:26:23.35 And the Sharons are seeing a renewed interest 00:26:23.35\00:26:26.78 in the Gospel at their place. 00:26:26.78\00:26:28.68 They're having a group meeting in their house 00:26:28.68\00:26:31.09 every Sabbath for singing and worship and prayer. 00:26:31.09\00:26:33.89 And God is just really blessing in their village 00:26:33.89\00:26:36.93 and their influence with the people. 00:26:36.93\00:26:39.59 - That's so great. 00:26:39.59\00:26:40.43 - Mmm hmm. 00:26:40.43\00:26:41.66 And you guys have already seen updates from 00:26:41.66\00:26:43.33 Butterfly Paradise, but now it looks even better. 00:26:43.33\00:26:46.70 There's more flowers, more butterflies and 00:26:46.70\00:26:49.07 they're getting the restaurants up and 00:26:49.07\00:26:50.94 everything is going really well. 00:26:50.94\00:26:52.64 - It's getting close to being able to be opened. 00:26:52.64\00:26:55.11 - And we're going to have to go back. 00:26:55.11\00:26:56.21 - Yes, we're gonna have to go back and 00:26:56.21\00:26:57.31 visit all those places again. 00:26:57.31\00:26:58.48 - Definitley. 00:26:58.48\00:26:59.38 - Yes. 00:26:59.38\00:27:00.65 - There are many updates and 00:27:00.65\00:27:01.82 they're happening all the time. 00:27:01.82\00:27:03.05 God is really moving and 00:27:03.05\00:27:04.95 he's asking each of us to be a part of it. 00:27:04.95\00:27:07.16 - We're so excited to have had this amazing 00:27:07.16\00:27:09.49 opportunity to see God working first hand. 00:27:09.49\00:27:12.39 - And it's been an absolute honor to get to 00:27:12.39\00:27:14.83 share our journey with you. 00:27:14.83\00:27:16.36 - We hope that you have been inspired 00:27:17.50\00:27:18.60 by this series to get involved with missions. 00:27:18.60\00:27:20.77 It will revolutionize your Christian experience. 00:27:20.77\00:27:23.77 - We can all be a part of God's work 00:27:35.38\00:27:37.39 by doing, praying, going or sending. 00:27:37.39\00:27:39.95 You just have to make it a habit to stay involved. 00:27:39.95\00:27:42.02 - Thank you for joining us on our MissionTREK. 00:27:42.02\00:27:44.69 - Keep God at the center of your life. 00:27:44.69\00:27:46.73 - And always remember to pray for the unreached. 00:27:46.73\00:27:49.66 (uplifting music) 00:27:49.66\00:27:52.57
