there was an organization

that came to our place.

They helped us by
providing wood for a shelter

have a small home to live in.

At that time I worked with a
man who was a Christian pastor

but I didn't
know he was a pastor.

The reason I
was working with him

was to get a sack of
rice to feed my family.
00:02:35.25\00:02:37.82
On Sabbath he told
me, "Today we will rest

"and we will not work.

"So will you come
to church with me?"

He asked again and then I said,

"Where is the
church and what is God?"

And the man said, "It's
Jesus, the God we worship."

So I went with him on
Sabbath because I was wondering

what they were doing
in the worship program.

His name was Pastor Bun-Lin.

The first time I
went there I sat down
00:03:04.08\00:03:06.05
and saw the singing
and the many people there.

I didn't really know who
God was and I didn't believe
00:03:08.42\00:03:10.99
in the God that I
worshiped that day.

I only knew that I needed
to go back the next Sabbath.

So I kept going to
church for about three months.

Then a war broke out between
the Khmer Rouge rebel forces

and government soldiers.
00:03:24.23\00:03:25.57
As a group of rebels
came and attacked my village

one of the head
villagers died that night.
00:03:29.04\00:03:31.37
At that time I
didn't know how to pray

but my wife and I sat down
00:03:34.91\00:03:36.28
and we started to pray
even though we didn't know how.

Because I was so afraid I
asked God to please save me

from the soldiers that
were attacking our place.

I was next to the front door

and my wife was inside the room.

My daughter was
still a baby at that time.

My wife was also praying.

She didn't know
how to pray either

but she kept on talking to God

not knowing if she was
using the right words or not.

Soon the soldiers came to my
house and asked me to come out.

They said, "Is
there anyone in there?"

My wife and I
didn't say anything.

I was thinking
that if I answered them

they would come
inside, take the bike

that I was
borrowing from my neighbor.

My clothes were

and so I was afraid that the

I prayed continuously
that if God and Jesus were real

wouldn't come inside my house.

Two of the
soldiers tried to push

through the door to get inside.

Usually one person can
easily push the door open.

But these two strong
men could not push it open

even though I
was not holding it.

Then they flashed a
light around my house

If they saw anyone in
the house they would shoot.

I was wondering
why they didn't see

the shoes in front of the house.

If they saw them they
would know that we were inside.

Our neighbors were so worried

and wondering why
I didn't let them in.

There were about 30 soldiers
in the group that had guns.

Again the soldiers asked,

"Where are the people
that live in this house?"

I was about to
speak but it was like

there was something
that kept my mouth shut

so I went to my
wife and told her,

anything, just keep praying."

Then one of the soldiers said,
"If there is no one in this

"house just put a big
bomb under it and blow it up."

But in the end they didn't
do it and they just walked away.

The rebels took
all the valuables

and animals from my neighbors.

The next morning all the
neighbors came to my house

and asked, "Why
didn't you open the door?

"They could have
destroyed your house."

Then I told my neighbors,
"I know now that Jesus

"is the real God
because as you see,

"the shoes are in front of my
house but they didn't see them

"and the door can
be pushed open easily

From that moment on I
started to believe in God,

that He is a real God

So they said it
was because of us

coming to live in this village

and because of the
God that we believed in.

Some of them came with a
big ax and wanted to kill me.

But I told them,

The soldiers came to my

They said, "It's

One night there was a group
of soldiers drinking together

and they were planning to
come to my house and kill me.

They had maybe seven guns.

Fortunately there was one
man who disagreed with them.
00:08:17.33\00:08:20.06
He stood up and said,
"Why are we going to harm him?

"He didn't do anything to us,
00:08:22.46\00:08:24.33
"he didn't harm us so
why are we doing this?"

Then the other
six men were afraid,

thinking that other people
would hear about their plan

so they canceled it.

That was when I knew
that God is my protector.

One hour later
she stopped breathing.

I knew that my daughter was dead

young I had a friend

gentleman and his

about the Buddhist people

that live around them
because they have a different

belief system so they see things

Or they think they're sinful.

But they talk to me
