00:02:54.20\00:02:55.70 - It's like this. 00:02:55.70\00:02:57.17 - [Auntie Gayile] And the mud had washed all down the road 00:02:58.64\00:03:00.61 as we turn this corner, 00:03:00.61\00:03:02.38 there was no other way but the truck just slid 00:03:02.38\00:03:05.15 out of control sideways right towards that precipice. 00:03:05.15\00:03:09.62 - [Lilyann] This is where they ended up, 00:03:09.62\00:03:11.39 right at the edge of a steep cliff. 00:03:11.39\00:03:13.86 - Here we go out of control here. 00:03:13.86\00:03:15.66 Sideways. 00:03:15.66\00:03:17.16 It's all loose right here. 00:03:18.69\00:03:20.50 It was all loose. 00:03:21.43\00:03:23.13 And our back wheel was just right here on the edge. 00:03:23.13\00:03:27.20 - [Lilyann] Auntie Gayle had the courage to take pictures, 00:03:27.20\00:03:29.70 even though she was in a very stressful situation. 00:03:29.70\00:03:32.44 - You can imagine, once you've lost traction 00:03:33.51\00:03:36.75 and your truck is out of control, 00:03:36.75\00:03:38.45 how fast you've come around that corner. 00:03:38.45\00:03:40.45 It's only the Angel of the Lord that stopped us. 00:03:40.45\00:03:43.22 Because here we go around and what did you say? 00:03:43.22\00:03:46.86 - Lord, help, help, help. 00:03:46.86\00:03:48.52 - Like Peter, Lord, help, help help. 00:03:48.52\00:03:52.16 And everybody was quiet because we thought 00:03:52.16\00:03:54.93 soon we'd be going down over this way off the cliff. 00:03:54.93\00:03:58.87 And then it just suddenly stopped right there 00:03:58.87\00:04:01.60 before going over the side. 00:04:01.60\00:04:04.01 Stop for no reason. 00:04:04.01\00:04:05.67 (motorbike engine roaring) 00:04:05.67\00:04:07.48 - Did you feel like if you moved 00:04:07.48\00:04:08.98 it might start moving again? - Yeah. 00:04:08.98\00:04:11.38 And then we got out of the track to to survey our situation. 00:04:11.38\00:04:15.48 And you just wanna fall down, 00:04:15.48\00:04:16.82 you can't keep your shoes on, was so slick. 00:04:16.82\00:04:19.65 You can't even hardly stand up, 00:04:19.65\00:04:21.52 we just struggled in the rain and the mud everywhere. 00:04:21.52\00:04:25.23 And finally, 00:04:25.23\00:04:27.36 we got out praise the Lord, 00:04:28.50\00:04:30.63 miracle after miracle on these roads. 00:04:30.63\00:04:32.77 - We continue driving for another few hours. 00:04:34.24\00:04:36.97 MaryAnne was stuck in the cab 00:04:36.97\00:04:38.57 because she was still recovering from her bad cold. 00:04:38.57\00:04:41.51 It's amazing to think how much time on to Gayle 00:04:41.51\00:04:43.88 and BletJhw spend on these roads. 00:04:43.88\00:04:46.11 She is often taking sick people 00:04:46.11\00:04:47.75 into the hospital to get treatment. 00:04:47.75\00:04:49.75 Sometimes they leave in the morning 00:04:49.75\00:04:51.35 and don't get home until late at night. 00:04:51.35\00:04:53.72 Other times there is a mudslide or road construction, 00:04:53.72\00:04:56.39 and they have to turn around halfway to the hospital 00:04:56.39\00:04:58.83 and try different routes. 00:04:58.83\00:05:00.70 As the sun falls behind the hills, 00:05:00.70\00:05:02.40 we pull into her driveway. 00:05:02.40\00:05:04.03 We're here at Auntie Gayle's 00:05:04.83\00:05:06.43 and it was about four and a half hour ride 00:05:06.43\00:05:09.47 and back the truck, very bumpy, very dusty, 00:05:09.47\00:05:12.94 everything got really dusty. 00:05:12.94\00:05:14.68 Anyway, so we're here and it's really, really nice building. 00:05:14.68\00:05:18.71 We're working on making supper. 00:05:18.71\00:05:20.72 As soon as we got here, 00:05:20.72\00:05:21.82 there's two who are waiting to be seen 00:05:21.82\00:05:24.05 and then another guy came in 00:05:24.05\00:05:25.52 and there's like a family out there waiting. 00:05:25.52\00:05:28.42 So he's been gone all day 00:05:28.42\00:05:29.56 so people have been waiting to see her. 00:05:29.56\00:05:30.83 So she's really busy right now. 00:05:30.83\00:05:32.53 This man had cut his toe with a machete 00:05:34.83\00:05:37.33 and BletJhw washed the wound 00:05:37.33\00:05:38.80 and then auntie Gayle put some stitches in. 00:05:38.80\00:05:41.00 This little boy had been rushed to the hospital last month 00:05:46.84\00:05:49.41 for an appendicitis and he's come back for a checkup. 00:05:49.41\00:05:52.48 After all the pain he experienced and his brush with 00:05:53.95\00:05:56.72 death, he's all happy now. 00:05:56.72\00:05:58.15 - I have a good job. 00:06:01.62\00:06:03.36 - Early the next morning, we piled in the truck again 00:06:05.49\00:06:08.23 and headed out to a village. 00:06:08.23\00:06:10.10 On the way we stopped at the one place in the whole area 00:06:10.10\00:06:13.10 where she can get cell phone service. 00:06:13.10\00:06:15.00 And I had some questions for her. 00:06:15.00\00:06:17.14 What village are we going to today? 00:06:17.14\00:06:19.11 - Today we're going to go to the Nyalagory, 00:06:19.11\00:06:21.38 It is a village maybe 35 homes. 00:06:21.38\00:06:25.05 And I call it the village of children. 00:06:25.05\00:06:27.78 Because there's least 30 children in this village. 00:06:27.78\00:06:31.45 There's a small school it goes through grade four, 00:06:31.45\00:06:34.42 but the teachers really don't teach them much 00:06:34.42\00:06:36.42 and sometimes they're in school, sometimes they're not in, 00:06:36.42\00:06:38.93 so it's kind of free. 00:06:38.93\00:06:40.00 I hope today that the children are free 00:06:40.00\00:06:42.36 because I dearly love the children. 00:06:42.36\00:06:45.07 And I want to help them in their life 00:06:45.07\00:06:47.17 because many of the children, 00:06:47.17\00:06:48.70 their parents pay no attention to them. 00:06:48.70\00:06:51.34 They grow up going from home to home trying to find food. 00:06:51.34\00:06:55.28 Their parents are running around trying to find jobs 00:06:55.28\00:06:58.25 so they can earn some money so they can buy opium, 00:06:58.25\00:07:00.72 and then they're so addicted to opiums. 00:07:00.72\00:07:02.82 Many Nyalelogory is also the village of opium. 00:07:02.82\00:07:06.15 Many of them may mine that becomes heroin then. 00:07:06.15\00:07:09.32 And then they're incapable 00:07:09.32\00:07:11.26 they can't take care of their homes, 00:07:11.26\00:07:12.83 they can't take care of their gardens 00:07:12.83\00:07:14.30 and their children especially. 00:07:14.30\00:07:16.26 And so maybe the grandmother raises them, there's two twins, 00:07:16.26\00:07:18.97 you'll see today, I hope. 00:07:18.97\00:07:20.50 And the mother, the grandmother raises them, 00:07:20.50\00:07:22.80 their parents are always gone. 00:07:22.80\00:07:24.51 And sometimes I'll go in there 00:07:24.51\00:07:26.24 and I'll see her with a big bamboo pipe 00:07:26.24\00:07:29.48 and she put the opium in there and smoke, they smoke opium. 00:07:29.48\00:07:33.78 So it's really sad. 00:07:33.78\00:07:35.22 - Whether they use you before you came, 00:07:35.22\00:07:36.95 and then could get really sick? 00:07:36.95\00:07:38.02 - Well, some people own motorbikes, 00:07:38.02\00:07:39.45 and they can go to the nearest clinic, 00:07:39.45\00:07:41.09 which is two hours away. 00:07:41.09\00:07:42.59 But many of them are just at home and died. 00:07:42.59\00:07:46.73 And one lady a long time ago that we treated 00:07:46.73\00:07:49.80 while we were doing the hot foot bath and taking care of her 00:07:49.80\00:07:52.50 she was like amazed and she says, 00:07:52.50\00:07:54.47 "You're doing something to make me well? 00:07:54.47\00:07:56.54 "I feel better already." 00:07:56.54\00:07:58.37 And she says, "We just when we get sick, 00:07:58.37\00:08:00.08 "we just stayed home and we just wait to die. 00:08:00.08\00:08:02.41 "We're just gonna die." 00:08:02.41\00:08:03.78 So that's just what our lot they kind of call it, 00:08:03.78\00:08:08.18 it's my Lord. 00:08:08.18\00:08:09.45 - Oh wow! 00:08:09.45\00:08:10.29 (gentle music) 00:08:10.29\00:08:12.79 We're on our way now to a village this morning, 00:08:15.82\00:08:17.83 we're she's gonna do some medical things 00:08:17.83\00:08:20.26 and have a worship and stuff with the children 00:08:20.26\00:08:22.93 in the village and Marry Ann is feeling a lot better 00:08:22.93\00:08:25.90 this morning, she says but, 00:08:25.90\00:08:28.04 she didn't want to push herself. 00:08:28.04\00:08:30.04 She stayed back at the clinic is gonna have to 00:08:30.04\00:08:33.84 endure another bumpy ride there and back. 00:08:34.98\00:08:38.18 But it should be good. 00:08:39.25\00:08:40.42 These mountains are filled with little villages 00:08:42.72\00:08:44.89 that don't have access to health care or the Gospel. 00:08:44.89\00:08:48.36 Gayle can get to a few. 00:08:48.36\00:08:49.96 But dreams one day of many clinics and missionaries 00:08:49.96\00:08:53.03 ministering to villages like this one. 00:08:53.03\00:08:55.53 The house that we're going to today 00:08:55.53\00:08:57.10 is at the top of the hill. 00:08:57.10\00:08:58.77 I'm a little nervous right now. 00:09:00.90\00:09:02.50 I feel like I'm walking into a missionary storybook 00:09:03.84\00:09:05.91 with an open fire for cooking, bamboo walls, 00:09:05.91\00:09:08.91 dirty wood floors, lots of people and a sick little baby. 00:09:08.91\00:09:12.61 - This baby is just a little over two months old. 00:09:13.92\00:09:16.55 And at first she was too sick, 00:09:16.55\00:09:18.39 the mother couldn't to take care of it 00:09:18.39\00:09:19.52 because this is the lady that's had eight babies. 00:09:19.52\00:09:22.59 And so every time she gets very deathly sick one time, 00:09:22.59\00:09:26.43 we barely saved her life and took her to the hospital. 00:09:26.43\00:09:28.73 This time, she was sick again very badly 00:09:28.73\00:09:33.40 so she couldn't nurse her baby, we brought her formula. 00:09:33.40\00:09:36.74 And a baby bottle that was great because this grandma 00:09:36.74\00:09:39.97 had been trying to feed the baby by chewing the rice 00:09:39.97\00:09:42.71 and spitting it out and giving it to the baby. 00:09:42.71\00:09:45.55 And that's what kept it alive at first 00:09:45.55\00:09:47.48 until we got the formula here. 00:09:47.48\00:09:49.62 And then it did really well. 00:09:49.62\00:09:51.22 Now it seems like she's got some milk 00:09:51.22\00:09:53.32 so but the babies are all sick, 00:09:53.32\00:09:54.92 it's got diarrhea, and symbolized in the diarrhea, 00:09:54.92\00:09:57.76 a fever, intermittently, and congestion, runny nose, 00:09:57.76\00:10:02.80 and that kind of stuff. 00:10:03.47\00:10:04.53 So we're going to take care of the baby, 00:10:04.53\00:10:07.07 here's some medicine. 00:10:07.07\00:10:08.40 Make sure they have what they need. 00:10:09.87\00:10:11.71 - She begins to visit 00:10:14.34\00:10:15.41 by caring for the sick and the hurting. 00:10:15.41\00:10:17.45 - He has fever a few days ago and then the last two days, 00:10:18.81\00:10:22.05 seemed like he was getting better, 00:10:22.05\00:10:23.82 but just today it started to have a fever again. 00:10:23.82\00:10:26.42 - She provides this service and medicine free of charge, 00:10:27.82\00:10:30.66 which shows the people that she really cares about them, 00:10:30.66\00:10:33.86 that opens their hearts be willing to listen 00:10:33.86\00:10:35.93 to her talk about God and share stories from the Bible. 00:10:35.93\00:10:38.70 - We give it Vitamin B12 and the vitamin B complex shots 00:10:40.27\00:10:43.87 to these people, their back pain is better 00:10:43.87\00:10:46.68 and their knee pain is better. 00:10:46.68\00:10:49.01 Everything seems to go better. 00:10:49.01\00:10:50.71 They really think the shots are valuable. 00:10:50.71\00:10:54.18 So if we don't have them 00:10:54.18\00:10:57.32 it's really sad. 00:10:57.32\00:10:58.75 And really, it does do a lot of good because mostly 00:11:00.29\00:11:02.32 their body isn't in absorbing the vitamins well. 00:11:02.32\00:11:05.96 And so that can cause 00:11:06.83\00:11:08.56 problems, especially if they get numb or tingling or achy 00:11:09.96\00:11:14.24 and arms or legs, lower legs 00:11:14.24\00:11:16.34 can usually be a vitamin deficiency. 00:11:17.71\00:11:20.68 We give so many shots, so many. 00:11:21.68\00:11:23.18 - So that's just a vitamin B12 shots? 00:11:25.78\00:11:27.72 - Ahaa! 00:11:27.72\00:11:28.92 This one is the B12. 00:11:28.92\00:11:31.29 (gentle music) 00:11:31.29\00:11:33.92 - After she gave her shots, we always break the needle. 00:11:43.80\00:11:48.00 Because a lot of people sometimes they came 00:11:48.00\00:11:50.91 and they ask for the needle 00:11:50.91\00:11:52.41 because he wants to use for the opium to put in their veins. 00:11:52.41\00:11:56.44 So we always break the needle. 00:11:56.44\00:11:57.98 - [Man] Can you tell who in this house is on opium? 00:11:59.45\00:12:01.72 - I'm sure that the lady that own this house, 00:12:02.92\00:12:07.49 she used opium, and other people. 00:12:07.49\00:12:09.76 - [Man] The boy sitting in the doorway with blue is he? 00:12:11.36\00:12:14.76 - I'm not sure about him. 00:12:14.76\00:12:16.40 But most, almost all they use once a while or many times. 00:12:16.40\00:12:21.47 Some are really addicted, some are not very. 00:12:22.74\00:12:24.77 Probably safe to say at least 80% of people are using opium. 00:12:24.77\00:12:29.74 (gentle music) 00:12:29.74\00:12:30.58 (foreign language) 00:12:30.58\00:12:33.58 - Is he swollen at all? 00:12:39.35\00:12:41.39 (gentle music) 00:12:41.39\00:12:44.66 - Not really a lot of people have come but those have come 00:12:44.66\00:12:48.03 she's treated them and it's just cool to watch her 00:12:48.03\00:12:51.13 check on them and stuff. 00:12:52.37\00:12:54.14 And tonight we're gonna have worship, 00:12:54.14\00:12:55.77 and a lot of kids have come, a few kids have come, so yeah. 00:12:55.77\00:12:59.74 (singing in foreign language) 00:13:01.38\00:13:05.28 - Today I wanna talk about the Bible. 00:13:32.71\00:13:34.84 It's talking about the man that wrote this book. 00:13:36.18\00:13:38.18 And it says that the Lord put Words in his mouth. 00:13:38.18\00:13:42.52 (foreign language) 00:13:42.52\00:13:45.59 And do you see Philip here has something he's reading, 00:13:47.06\00:13:49.66 this is the Bible. 00:13:49.66\00:13:50.79 (foreign language) 00:13:51.59\00:13:54.56 It's here, it's here. (foreign language) 00:13:57.00\00:13:58.57 He obeyed and make changes is life to be like Jesus. 00:13:58.57\00:14:02.34 And so I'm going to tell you, it's so important to pray 00:14:03.67\00:14:07.01 because even more important than the breath that we can take 00:14:07.01\00:14:11.78 is to pray and talk to God. 00:14:11.78\00:14:14.08 (foreign language) 00:14:14.08\00:14:17.09 It's a great work that I have here. 00:14:19.19\00:14:21.59 The Lord knows just where to put you, 00:14:21.59\00:14:23.99 to suit your personality and your strength 00:14:23.99\00:14:26.33 and your capabilities 00:14:26.33\00:14:27.56 and whatever capabilities you don't have, 00:14:27.56\00:14:29.90 because you never feel adequate. 00:14:29.90\00:14:31.93 The Lord will give you what you need. 00:14:31.93\00:14:34.94 And you know, I'm the most fortunate person in the world 00:14:34.94\00:14:38.57 because I have the very best job of anybody. 00:14:38.57\00:14:41.61 Because I get to meet people and help them physically 00:14:41.61\00:14:44.98 and that makes it reach to their heart 00:14:44.98\00:14:47.55 so I can help them understand more about God. 00:14:47.55\00:14:50.22 And I get to tell people about God every day, 00:14:50.22\00:14:53.15 some that never heard before. 00:14:53.15\00:14:55.46 So this is the biggest joy you can ever have 00:14:55.46\00:14:59.06 this side of heaven. 00:14:59.06\00:15:00.33 (gentle piano music) 00:15:01.20\00:15:04.33 - We're here in Las Utah for worship this evening. 00:15:13.88\00:15:16.98 And we're at Dupei's house. 00:15:16.98\00:15:20.02 He and his wife were the first people 00:15:20.02\00:15:21.22 that had been baptized. 00:15:21.22\00:15:22.92 So we're gonna have worship here and get to meet them 00:15:22.92\00:15:26.22 because we've heard their story, and so that's cool. 00:15:26.22\00:15:30.39 (foreign language) 00:15:30.39\00:15:33.33 This is Dupei, the story goes that he was addicted to opium 00:15:33.33\00:15:37.20 so bad that he tried to kill himself. 00:15:37.20\00:15:39.53 Gayle helped to save his life and now he and his wife 00:15:39.53\00:15:42.14 are the first ones to have been baptized 00:15:42.14\00:15:43.94 as a result of Auntie Gayle's ministry. 00:15:43.94\00:15:46.31 (singing in foreign language) 00:15:46.31\00:15:50.21 - So then Rahab let those men down on that cord. 00:15:56.02\00:15:58.99 outside the city and then ran into the jungle. 00:15:58.99\00:16:02.26 (foreign language) 00:16:02.26\00:16:05.23 (singing in foreign language) 00:16:06.66\00:16:10.53 (foreign language) 00:16:12.83\00:16:16.40 - Auntie Gayle is practicing her language skills with Dupei. 00:16:16.40\00:16:19.44 (foreign language) 00:16:19.44\00:16:22.51 - Well, it's good for me just to talk and figure out 00:16:31.02\00:16:33.86 if they understand and try the new words out. 00:16:33.86\00:16:36.89 And I get to talk to many people. 00:16:38.49\00:16:40.50 Sometimes BletJhw is gone. 00:16:40.50\00:16:42.96 He has to be gone, and I just stay here. 00:16:42.96\00:16:46.40 And then sometimes many patient one day 33 patients, 00:16:46.40\00:16:51.47 all by myself. 00:16:52.27\00:16:53.81 And I know as soon as BletJhw comes, 00:16:53.81\00:16:56.58 the difficult patient comes where I need a big history. 00:16:56.58\00:16:59.05 And I don't know how to ask ask that why he's gone, 00:16:59.05\00:17:02.12 every patient I can... 00:17:02.12\00:17:03.59 I know I've done it right, you know. 00:17:03.59\00:17:05.72 So that's God because you know, 00:17:05.72\00:17:07.59 I'm very slow on this language. 00:17:07.59\00:17:10.33 It's a struggle for me, I keep on trying 00:17:10.33\00:17:12.63 and don't give up and... 00:17:12.63\00:17:14.00 - Sitting in the back of the truck for five hours 00:17:15.13\00:17:17.70 was so tiring. 00:17:17.70\00:17:19.07 It was such a bumpy ride and it was hot and sunny. 00:17:19.07\00:17:22.04 And all of us and our stuff got all covered with dust. 00:17:22.04\00:17:25.81 It sounds really uncomfortable. 00:17:25.81\00:17:27.21 - It's hard to imagine 00:17:33.75\00:17:34.85 how much of Gayle's life is traveling. 00:17:34.85\00:17:36.95 Like, it's good that she has a truck at least. 00:17:36.95\00:17:39.49 - Yeah. 00:17:39.49\00:17:40.29 - And the hills are so steep. 00:17:40.29\00:17:41.66 - I can't imagine in rainy season traveling like-- 00:17:41.66\00:17:45.06 - Yeah, in rainy season, she has to go and buy motorbike 00:17:45.06\00:17:47.60 or she has the hiking, which takes about 12 hours. 00:17:47.60\00:17:50.73 Or sometimes she can even get in there. 00:17:50.73\00:17:52.50 - Wow. 00:17:52.50\00:17:53.77 - But thankfully, the next day 00:17:53.77\00:17:55.90 I was well enough to go with you guys to the next village. 00:17:55.90\00:17:58.47 - Yes, that was such a fun experience, 00:17:58.47\00:18:00.51 been in the village and seen her help the people 00:18:00.51\00:18:02.91 was so inspiring. 00:18:02.91\00:18:03.98 Like she's dedicated her whole life to this. 00:18:03.98\00:18:05.95 - Yeah and she's like the happiest person. 00:18:05.95\00:18:07.78 - I know, she's so much fun, yes (laughing). 00:18:07.78\00:18:10.49 The second day, after breakfast, 00:18:11.52\00:18:13.46 we headed out in the truck for a 20 minute drive. 00:18:13.46\00:18:15.99 (gentle piano music) 00:18:17.39\00:18:19.96 This morning, the air is actually cool. 00:18:19.96\00:18:22.10 So we had to wear sweaters. 00:18:22.10\00:18:23.90 We didn't expect it to be cold in Thailand, 00:18:23.90\00:18:26.10 but we're pretty high in the mountains. 00:18:26.10\00:18:28.20 We didn't have to drive as much as yesterday. 00:18:28.20\00:18:30.44 But even a short drive is an adventure here. 00:18:30.44\00:18:33.44 Auntie Gayle doesn't just sit at home, 00:18:33.44\00:18:35.51 waiting for the people to come to her. 00:18:35.51\00:18:37.41 She goes out looking for them, 00:18:37.41\00:18:39.08 bringing light and healing into their homes. 00:18:39.08\00:18:41.82 We arrived in the village and went straight to the house 00:18:41.82\00:18:44.59 where Auntie Gayle always goes. 00:18:44.59\00:18:46.12 It's a very different way of life than we're used to, 00:18:46.12\00:18:48.59 but the lady of the house welcomed us with a smile. 00:18:48.59\00:18:51.43 - We're in LA Glah village. 00:18:51.43\00:18:54.03 And Anuntie Gayle or as they call her, Tharamu, 00:18:54.03\00:18:58.33 comes here every Thursday, 00:18:58.33\00:19:00.37 usually to treat the sick and have worship with the people. 00:19:00.37\00:19:05.04 So we came with her. 00:19:05.04\00:19:06.84 Like what they did yesterday. 00:19:08.21\00:19:09.71 - [Man] How was the ride? 00:19:11.15\00:19:12.88 - It was so fun! 00:19:12.88\00:19:14.12 It was epic. - Epic. 00:19:14.12\00:19:15.45 (laughing) 00:19:16.22\00:19:17.59 - We stood in the back. 00:19:17.59\00:19:19.05 - We were truck surfing holding on to the roof. 00:19:19.05\00:19:22.76 - They've been doing it 00:19:22.76\00:19:23.89 like the whole time they've been riding 00:19:23.89\00:19:25.36 but that was the first time I got 00:19:25.36\00:19:26.93 to stand in the back. - It's the best way 00:19:26.93\00:19:27.76 to ride in the back, 00:19:27.76\00:19:28.53 because usually you just bump, 00:19:28.53\00:19:30.17 And so we found out that if you stand up its 00:19:30.17\00:19:32.53 a lot easier. - Your knees take all of it. 00:19:32.53\00:19:34.50 - Yeah. - Instead of your back. 00:19:34.50\00:19:36.37 - The first thing we did was just hang out 00:19:37.47\00:19:39.41 and wait for the people to show up. 00:19:39.41\00:19:41.41 Life is not in a hurry here 00:19:41.41\00:19:43.08 and people take time to connect with each other. 00:19:43.08\00:19:45.55 Then Gayle and BletJhw treat all the people's ailments. 00:19:46.92\00:19:49.72 (foreign language) 00:19:50.89\00:19:53.86 - She wants shots. 00:19:57.89\00:19:59.23 Knee pain, lower back pain, side pain. 00:19:59.23\00:20:03.03 (foreign language) 00:20:03.03\00:20:06.74 - Gayle takes this opportunity 00:20:06.74\00:20:08.27 to teach my little sister some nursing techniques. 00:20:08.27\00:20:11.14 - Go slow, we just keep that cap on kinda sideways 00:20:11.14\00:20:14.11 and drop it down. 00:20:14.11\00:20:15.68 Wow, that's good, you wanna come with me? 00:20:15.68\00:20:17.98 I'll teach you how to give it but I'll give it. 00:20:17.98\00:20:20.28 - [Lilyann] After that is finished, 00:20:21.98\00:20:23.32 she begins telling a Bible story. 00:20:23.32\00:20:25.12 - Because he loved every person so very much, 00:20:26.19\00:20:29.79 he gave everything to the people 00:20:29.79\00:20:31.93 that would help be well and be happy. 00:20:31.93\00:20:34.13 - After a few hours, we headed home. 00:20:35.30\00:20:37.53 We were sad to leave, 00:20:37.53\00:20:38.97 but we still had a few questions to ask Auntie Gayle. 00:20:38.97\00:20:41.67 (gentle piano music) 00:20:44.31\00:20:47.38 We're here to talk with Auntie Gayle and BletJhw. 00:20:48.84\00:20:52.08 And we're just curious 00:20:52.08\00:20:53.35 about what life is like for them here. 00:20:53.35\00:20:55.15 - How did you guys come to work here and BeYoTa? 00:20:55.15\00:20:57.92 - It's a long story. 00:20:57.92\00:20:59.25 First of all, my boys and I came here 00:21:00.39\00:21:02.42 to be missionaries at the border 00:21:02.42\00:21:04.36 for three months. 00:21:05.76\00:21:07.30 And so when that three months was up, 00:21:07.30\00:21:09.50 we'd fallen in love with the Korean people, 00:21:09.50\00:21:11.57 my boys and I want to stay. 00:21:11.57\00:21:13.30 So we stayed at that school 00:21:13.30\00:21:14.60 and didn't go back to America for 10 months. 00:21:14.60\00:21:17.51 And at the end of 10 months, 00:21:17.51\00:21:18.74 there was so many missionaries at that school, 00:21:18.74\00:21:21.68 we felt like God wanted us to go somewhere else, 00:21:21.68\00:21:24.38 where there people really needed to find the Lord. 00:21:24.38\00:21:28.65 And so we prayed a lot about it. 00:21:28.65\00:21:31.25 And actually BletJhw and my son found this village for us, 00:21:31.25\00:21:36.32 and come back and thought it was really great place. 00:21:37.73\00:21:40.03 And we really prayed about it. 00:21:40.03\00:21:41.53 I came too and but we didn't know 00:21:41.53\00:21:44.87 that then three things happen, as we were praying 00:21:44.87\00:21:48.37 that showed is clearly God want us to come here. 00:21:48.37\00:21:52.24 And that is one thing is, 00:21:52.24\00:21:54.94 somebody donated us enough money to buy track. 00:21:54.94\00:21:57.95 And when we found the four wheel track, simply in one day, 00:21:57.95\00:22:01.92 actually in two hours, 00:22:01.92\00:22:03.79 people sometimes take months, they can't find one, 00:22:03.79\00:22:06.09 and it was the exact money that we've been donated. 00:22:06.09\00:22:08.72 - Oh, wow! 00:22:08.72\00:22:09.82 - So all this is the hand of God, you know. 00:22:09.82\00:22:12.39 And then the next thing also, 00:22:12.39\00:22:15.06 we found out that there is 50 villages around the BiYoTa, 00:22:15.06\00:22:19.17 and many of them never even heard the name of Jesus. 00:22:19.17\00:22:22.90 And so then we really wanted to come. 00:22:22.90\00:22:26.17 And then the best thing, 00:22:26.17\00:22:27.44 (laughing) the third thing that happened, 00:22:31.95\00:22:34.12 that showed us it was God's will, 00:22:34.12\00:22:35.52 is he felt God calling him to come and work with us. 00:22:35.52\00:22:38.12 So we really needed him, 00:22:38.12\00:22:40.32 to help us with the culture and of course in talking, 00:22:40.32\00:22:43.76 and so many things, so many things. 00:22:43.76\00:22:46.23 So it's really important to know, 00:22:46.23\00:22:49.76 it's God's way of whatever you're doing, 00:22:49.76\00:22:51.90 you really must know, and must plead with God and find out. 00:22:51.90\00:22:55.07 Because otherwise, when trials come which they came, 00:22:55.07\00:22:57.91 so many better things and agony of things, 00:22:57.91\00:23:01.88 then you can go through that holding God's hand 00:23:01.88\00:23:04.45 because you know, he called you to do it. 00:23:04.45\00:23:06.28 So otherwise you would give up and go home. 00:23:06.28\00:23:08.98 - You've told us about some of the struggles, 00:23:10.12\00:23:12.05 and some of the hard things that you've gone through. 00:23:12.05\00:23:15.22 Why do you stay here? 00:23:15.22\00:23:16.96 - Well, what makes us to stay is the great need. 00:23:16.96\00:23:20.80 Because we see these people, 00:23:20.80\00:23:22.26 they are so steeped in tradition, and superstition and 00:23:22.26\00:23:27.24 fear and there's really hard to teach, 00:23:28.30\00:23:30.11 they're very slow to learn. 00:23:30.11\00:23:31.44 In six years, we had baptized two people. 00:23:31.44\00:23:34.64 And a few people are now you know... 00:23:34.64\00:23:37.88 many people know about God they didn't know before. 00:23:37.88\00:23:40.48 And so you never know, we pray with a lot of the patients, 00:23:40.48\00:23:43.18 most of the patients and so they know about God. 00:23:43.18\00:23:46.42 But the great need here, is what keeps us here. 00:23:46.42\00:23:50.03 Because we wanna see as many people in heaven 00:23:50.03\00:23:54.50 as it is possible for us to reach 00:23:54.50\00:23:56.77 and that God has planned for us to reach. 00:23:56.77\00:23:59.33 - What advice you guys give to us 00:23:59.33\00:24:02.60 people that may be interested 00:24:02.60\00:24:03.94 in becoming missionaries one day? 00:24:03.94\00:24:05.81 - It will change your life forever. 00:24:05.81\00:24:08.41 And if you don't resist it, and then you turn away again, 00:24:08.41\00:24:12.11 to the world, it can grow stronger and stronger in you. 00:24:12.11\00:24:15.62 And I would advise, don't get hung up on so much schooling. 00:24:15.62\00:24:20.42 So many people say that, 00:24:20.42\00:24:22.82 "Oh, I can do this after I get this degree. 00:24:22.82\00:24:25.03 "And then I think I need my BS degree in nursing, 00:24:25.03\00:24:27.56 "in case I come back to America, 00:24:27.56\00:24:28.63 "then I'm gonna need to get a job 00:24:28.63\00:24:31.07 "and I can earn my money that way." 00:24:31.07\00:24:33.20 And then they think, "Oh, then I need something, you know, 00:24:33.20\00:24:35.94 "for medicine to learn and this and that." 00:24:35.94\00:24:38.51 And so they don't come. 00:24:38.51\00:24:40.88 And they never come 00:24:40.88\00:24:41.98 because then they never think they know enough 00:24:41.98\00:24:44.31 and the years slip by, and we are in the end times. 00:24:44.31\00:24:47.85 And Jesus is coming soon and I feel such an urgency 00:24:47.85\00:24:51.82 to spread the Word of God in these areas, 00:24:51.82\00:24:54.62 that there's a mountain up the mountain, 00:24:54.62\00:24:56.36 a village after village and nobody knows. 00:24:56.36\00:24:59.26 You know, you can put your finger on any mountain 00:24:59.26\00:25:01.30 and the people don't know. 00:25:01.30\00:25:02.93 And it's a real urgency and I Mrs. White says, 00:25:02.93\00:25:06.20 "The time is short." 00:25:06.20\00:25:07.74 And so many people get caught up with so many things 00:25:07.74\00:25:11.24 that while people are perishing, 00:25:11.24\00:25:13.61 for one of light and knowledge. 00:25:13.61\00:25:16.01 And so I think if the people sense, 00:25:16.01\00:25:19.71 the urgency that there is and that we were created 00:25:19.71\00:25:23.42 to help and work for others, wherever God puts us. 00:25:23.42\00:25:26.89 They might be in a foreign field where it's hard to work, 00:25:26.89\00:25:29.19 it might be in the city, it might be anywhere 00:25:29.19\00:25:31.09 but we were made to work for God and we are not happy, 00:25:31.09\00:25:35.00 a bit happy unless we are you working for God, 00:25:35.00\00:25:38.73 that that's our first priority is God and his work, 00:25:38.73\00:25:42.34 and everything else comes under that. 00:25:42.34\00:25:44.67 And then there's such joy and if you see somebody 00:25:44.67\00:25:49.18 that you kept the devil strings off, or you save a life, 00:25:49.18\00:25:53.21 or you give Bible studies in different villages 00:25:53.21\00:25:56.22 and you see the people trying to pray 00:25:56.22\00:25:58.22 or they come to the clinic 00:25:58.22\00:25:59.69 and they ask you to pray for them, 00:25:59.69\00:26:01.99 you are so happy you never could understand that kind of joy 00:26:01.99\00:26:07.03 unless you got involved and did it. 00:26:09.10\00:26:11.40 But it means sacrifice, 00:26:11.40\00:26:12.80 you have to be willing to give up everything. 00:26:12.80\00:26:14.50 It's take all my time, take all my money, take all my family 00:26:14.50\00:26:17.87 and you'll cry, things get hard 00:26:18.67\00:26:21.18 but it's really the only way we're gonna save our own selves 00:26:21.18\00:26:26.15 but all the ones around us. 00:26:26.15\00:26:28.62 - Well thank you so much for sharing being here 00:26:28.62\00:26:30.79 and watching you guys go into the villages. 00:26:30.79\00:26:33.15 It's really inspired us 00:26:33.15\00:26:34.52 and we really enjoyed our time here with you guys. 00:26:34.52\00:26:37.76 - We have enjoyed too. 00:26:37.76\00:26:39.26 (gentle music) 00:26:39.26\00:26:41.86 - Auntie Gayle is so cool. 00:26:52.81\00:26:55.01 - Yeah, and she has such a big heart 00:26:55.01\00:26:56.91 and she cares so much for these people. 00:26:56.91\00:26:59.11 - And in return for service, 00:26:59.11\00:27:00.52 they open up to her and trust her, 00:27:00.52\00:27:02.12 which allows her to be able to share the Gospel. 00:27:02.12\00:27:04.05 - Yeah, a lot of times 00:27:04.05\00:27:06.19 when someone goes to share the Gospel with someone else, 00:27:06.19\00:27:08.82 they get so eager about sharing the message 00:27:08.82\00:27:11.16 that they forget to give the person's physical needs. 00:27:11.16\00:27:13.86 If someone was starving, you can't just go up to them 00:27:13.86\00:27:16.13 and offer to pray for them. 00:27:16.13\00:27:17.63 First you need to give them food 00:27:17.63\00:27:19.20 and then they will be more open 00:27:19.20\00:27:20.70 to letting you pray with them and hearing the Gospel. 00:27:20.70\00:27:23.97 Ellen Might in her book "The Ministry of Healing" says, 00:27:23.97\00:27:26.98 "Christ method alone will give true success 00:27:26.98\00:27:29.31 "in reaching the people. 00:27:29.31\00:27:30.68 "The Savior mingled with men as one who desired their good. 00:27:30.68\00:27:33.78 "He showed his sympathy for them, minister to their needs 00:27:33.78\00:27:36.65 "and won their confidence, then He bade them follow me." 00:27:36.65\00:27:40.96 - This is something important for us to remember 00:27:40.96\00:27:43.22 as we set out to bring the Good News to the world. 00:27:43.22\00:27:46.19 - We'll see you next time on Mission Trek. 00:27:46.19\00:27:48.43 And remember to pray for the unreached. 00:27:48.43\00:27:50.30 (soft music). 00:27:50.30\00:27:52.87
