Today, we'll take a look
at two of these approaches

may not conjure up
dry desolate landscapes,

but the need
for clean water here

is just as desperate as
other places in the world.

The total population
of India is 1.8 billion.

And recently,

the study done by
World Health Organization

found out that

half of this population

does not have
access to clean water.

Now that's a big number.

Twenty one
percent of the diseases

are waterborne disease in India.

And so the access to
clean water is not there

for millions of
millions of people right now.

The dilemma prompted Maranatha

to start a water
program in India,

the construction over there,

well, and it was contaminated.

We found the layers on the well,

and the people would
just come and take that water

and take it to
their home and drink it.

Spreading the word
of God in my country

because it's not as easy as
it used to be many years back.

You know, things have
changed here quite a bit.

of reaching out to people

have this water well

which is open for everybody.

It's like an open

That opens up the well.

Another aspect, the key
people will come to the church.

They will ask the pastor,

we dedicated this Sabbath

And the condition
over there was very sad

because they were crying.

They were getting
the water from the pond

right next to the church.

And they were using that water.

Sometimes they would even go
to some houses in the village

who have the water, you know.

It is walking
quite a bit of distance,

you know, going from
one place to the other

and getting the water.

But not everybody

will give them
access to the water.

Now, again,
this comes to a point

where we have the caste
system in our country, you know.

The people of the higher caste

will not allow our people

to take water from
their well, you know.

So they don't have
the access to water.

So they completely
depend on those dirty pounds.

When it rains,

the pond gets
accumulated with water.

And that's where
they grab their water.

By providing that well,

what is the reason?

So there they're hesitant.

They're not sure that

whether they should
enter that house or not.

might happen to them.

water for your body,
