had to pause several times a day

because of the downpours.

So, it started raining
like crazy after working on

the church, and so now we are
digging all this mud and junk up

our batteries for our drills,

the church playing around,

people waiting for us to

any power and we had, like,

half a drill left, and
it wasn't going very well,

'cause we were almost done.

So we had to drive an hour
to go back there just to put

on and the ridge cap.

And so we prayed that
the power would come back on,

Thanks to Ultimate Workout,
I've learned that I can trust in

these that really make you think

Maranatha first visited
Falakata, India in 2000.

volunteers built are thriving

and the Adventist Secondary
School is making a different

in the lives of
hundreds of children.

teachers, with the students,

with their fellow mates, they
are going to learn a lot about

what Jesus Christ means to
each one of us in our lives.

bursting at the seams.

build additional classrooms so

Today, hundreds of children are
receiving a Christian education,

but there is still no
Adventist secondary school.

they expected to get done,

on so many mission trips and

seen so much confusion, and
seen so many things that can go

wrong, that I didn't know
what to expect with Maranatha.

What did you find?

Well, a pleasant surprise.

I found organization,
I found leadership,

I found people--the
volunteers were unbelievable.

They had an attitude
that I had never seen before,

said, "We only have three rules,

And what are the three rules?

Well, the first
rule was "No murmuring,"

and the second

and the people worked together,

What surprised me is we were
supposed to go to the opposite

side of the country, but it had
rained so hard they could not

pour the concrete, so they
switched us on the other side of

country to a project
that they hadn't even started

and thought about.

And it went like it was planned
all out to the last minute.

It went perfectly and I was just
shocked that they could do that.

variety of other organizations.

What got you to go on
your first Maranatha trip?

Well, actually my church did.

They--I showed--they asked
me to show--they knew who I was.

They knew the amount of
mission trips I'd been on,

and so they asked me
one Sabbath, they said,

"Would you show a video of
mission trips that you've been

service on missions?"

I said, "Okay."

And your church is where?

I felt safe going to
that church, and being there,

I had stop going to the mission
field because of all the things

that I had seen go
wrong in the mission fields.

And they wanted me to go back

and they told
me about Maranatha.

And I said, "Well, it's
just another organization.

It's gonna be the
same thing all over again

and I'm really not interested."

I'm living now
on Social Security.

I had some financial misfortunes
during the big bust, and I said,

"I can't afford it."

That was my excuse.

They said, "That's alright.

We'll pay for it.

I said--well, I kind of felt
obligated to go, and so I said,

"Okay, I'll go."

And so they sent me to--that's
when I went to Nicaragua.

see more of that to commit my--

To believe it was really true.

Yes, to believe that this
organization could do this

in a consistent manner.

And so the next one was?

They said, "We'll
send you on another one."

I said, "Okay."

This one was in
Mississippi, to build

a 6,700 square foot church.

I went to
Mississippi, that was fantastic.
