>> And Benjamin Franklin said Love your neighbor yet. Don't 00:00:01.13\00:00:04.00 pull down your head. Robert Frost wrote a poem in which he 00:00:04.00\00:00:06.87 wrote Good fences, Make good neighbors. That's true of 00:00:06.87\00:00:09.97 national borders, homes and yeah, even with the chicken 00:00:09.97\00:00:13.38 coop, 00:00:13.38\00:00:14.94 really fences and borders or for protection from enemies and 00:00:14.94\00:00:18.08 to foster good relationships, boundaries exist not to be 00:00:18.08\00:00:21.28 impenetrable, not to promote isolation. An alienation are 00:00:21.28\00:00:25.19 supposed to be a place of connectivity here got has a 00:00:25.19\00:00:28.42 border and it's an extremely important one. We don't realize 00:00:28.42\00:00:32.09 how much the intestinal border effects overall health until 00:00:32.09\00:00:36.23 something goes wrong. Join us today as we discussed 00:00:36.23\00:00:39.20 intestinal border crossing 00:00:39.20\00:00:41.80 >> serve. 00:00:56.92\00:01:00.19 >> Welcome back to make for help. And I'm so glad you 00:01:00.19\00:01:03.12 joined us today. 00:01:03.12\00:01:04.46 >> Because we are talking about the super important topic, 00:01:04.46\00:01:07.86 the intestinal border, what it is and how this border and PACs 00:01:07.86\00:01:12.10 total health. 00:01:12.10\00:01:13.47 Are you concerned about your gut health? They heard of leaky 00:01:13.47\00:01:16.40 Gut syndrome. 00:01:16.40\00:01:17.94 The gut is responsible for the digestion of food for nutrients 00:01:17.94\00:01:21.98 are absorbed into the bloodstream, but it's actually 00:01:21.98\00:01:23.98 responsible for a whole lot more making it a vital part of 00:01:23.98\00:01:27.45 the body. 00:01:27.45\00:01:28.88 When the intestinal border is compromise, though, it can lead 00:01:28.88\00:01:31.95 to chronic inflammation autoimmune disorders and other 00:01:31.95\00:01:34.79 health problems. 00:01:34.79\00:01:36.19 We will be discussing the role of the intestinal border, 00:01:36.19\00:01:39.29 the triggers of leaky gut and the foods they can break down 00:01:39.29\00:01:42.73 the mucus protective barrier. 00:01:42.73\00:01:44.70 >> Well, that S the border, of course, is where the dew 00:01:44.70\00:01:47.64 transferred run in from the gun itself into the bloodstream. 00:01:47.64\00:01:52.34 And so the, you know, the term borders a very appropriate term 00:01:52.34\00:01:56.75 because it's one and to allow the right things in but prevent 00:01:56.75\00:02:00.68 the wrong things from coming in. 00:02:00.68\00:02:03.49 >> The barge in our intestines is is really the intersection 00:02:03.49\00:02:09.32 between the external and the internal. 00:02:09.32\00:02:12.79 Now the police needs to really distinguish what's dangers and 00:02:12.79\00:02:17.90 what's not 00:02:17.90\00:02:19.27 the better. They are at the job, the better for our health. 00:02:19.27\00:02:24.47 What we see in on the Western diet is that the police will 00:02:24.47\00:02:29.54 get less vigilant and more diet, 3 antigens and also more 00:02:29.54\00:02:35.22 bacteria will get through the gut lining. 00:02:35.22\00:02:38.85 And that's really compromising our health because we don't 00:02:38.85\00:02:42.22 want the bad bacteria getting into into our bloodstream. 00:02:42.22\00:02:45.89 We don't want the antigens that don't belong there either 00:02:45.89\00:02:49.73 because this is this can also trigger the autoimmune process 00:02:49.73\00:02:53.30 ease and inflammation and chronic diseases. 00:02:53.30\00:02:57.34 Doctor Cali the like in the border patrol to police to 00:02:57.34\00:03:01.21 prevent enemies are invaders from entering the body. 00:03:01.21\00:03:04.31 >> We can also like in the intestinal wall to TSA, meaning 00:03:04.31\00:03:07.85 that has checkpoints where it selectively allow certain 00:03:07.85\00:03:10.82 things to pass through but not others 00:03:10.82\00:03:13.52 nutrients are transported in while bad guys are hindered on 00:03:13.52\00:03:17.79 the daily target barrier comes in contact with more potential 00:03:17.79\00:03:21.60 disturbance of the peace and dangerous enemies. Then the 00:03:21.60\00:03:24.70 internal immune system sees in a lifetime. 00:03:24.70\00:03:27.37 For this reason we have several checkpoints. 00:03:27.37\00:03:31.14 You know, you have your cells 00:03:31.14\00:03:33.44 that I'm kind of are connected to each other throughout the 00:03:33.44\00:03:36.91 got. 00:03:36.91\00:03:37.88 And there are bridges in between those cells. And 00:03:37.88\00:03:40.72 sometimes those bridges are broken. And when those bridges 00:03:40.72\00:03:43.15 are broken, normally when you eat, your food 00:03:43.15\00:03:46.12 has to go through the salad, get processed through the cell 00:03:46.12\00:03:48.92 and it gets broken down appropriately gets presented to 00:03:48.92\00:03:51.99 the blood and immune system appropriately the way God 00:03:51.99\00:03:55.30 beautifully designed it. But when the food is allowed to 00:03:55.30\00:03:58.63 go through these broken bridges, they are completely 00:03:58.63\00:04:01.74 broken down. They look different. Look funny. They're 00:04:01.74\00:04:03.94 not present a nicely appropriately to the immune 00:04:03.94\00:04:06.37 system. An immune system sometimes sees that as 00:04:06.37\00:04:10.05 foreign. 00:04:10.05\00:04:11.51 Not not part of us did come through ourselves. That didn't 00:04:11.51\00:04:14.72 get processed appropriately. And the immune system sometimes 00:04:14.72\00:04:18.25 can react to the food that comes through 00:04:18.25\00:04:22.49 between the cells instead of through the cells. And that's 00:04:22.49\00:04:25.76 kind of how I explained we can get is actually pretty 00:04:25.76\00:04:29.20 prevalent and most people on a Western diet to develop it 00:04:29.20\00:04:34.54 without even knowing it. 00:04:34.54\00:04:36.50 So if you don't check for it to you don't even know that you 00:04:36.50\00:04:39.81 have this condition. 00:04:39.81\00:04:41.28 >> So I don't even know I have it. Why bother there's enough 00:04:41.28\00:04:44.85 that I do know about that. I should be concerned about, 00:04:44.85\00:04:47.12 right. 00:04:47.12\00:04:48.15 The reality is, though, that leaky got isn't upstream 00:04:48.15\00:04:50.99 problem that can be contributing to a host of 00:04:50.99\00:04:53.89 downstream problems. We're going to first look at what can 00:04:53.89\00:04:57.03 promote Lee keep order. 00:04:57.03\00:04:59.39 >> When digestion is not optimal, when there are some 00:04:59.39\00:05:02.46 dysfunction in the process of digestion that leads to 00:05:02.46\00:05:06.37 inflammation 00:05:06.37\00:05:08.07 and they are could be unhealthy. Food being consumed, 00:05:08.07\00:05:11.81 it could be consuming alcoholic beverages and it can be 00:05:11.81\00:05:16.11 consuming on a sugary products that leads to an inflammatory 00:05:16.11\00:05:20.35 process that didn't actually opens up the border 00:05:20.35\00:05:24.62 literally and opens up and we refer to as increased 00:05:24.62\00:05:28.76 intestinal permeability oftentimes referred to as leaky 00:05:28.76\00:05:33.26 Gut syndrome. 00:05:33.26\00:05:34.96 >> The triggers for leaking got are chronic conditions such as 00:05:34.96\00:05:39.53 obesity and type 2 diabetes, 00:05:39.53\00:05:42.14 but also the high-fat Western diet, which may contribute to 00:05:42.14\00:05:47.54 this condition within a short period of time. Within only a 00:05:47.54\00:05:51.21 few days, the lip of public sucker I'd concentrations will 00:05:51.21\00:05:56.18 increase and the blood stream within only a few days on a 00:05:56.18\00:06:00.22 Western diet. 00:06:00.22\00:06:01.62 Okay. What is life polysaccharide? 00:06:01.62\00:06:04.63 We introduced the topic in a previous episode, but let's go 00:06:04.63\00:06:07.40 over it again. Because if you're like me, got to hear 00:06:07.40\00:06:10.20 more than once. 00:06:10.20\00:06:11.63 LPs comes from bacteria, like bacterial fragments, it's 00:06:11.63\00:06:16.77 referred to as an and toxin or a toxin that's from within 00:06:16.77\00:06:21.18 rather than one that we inhale or absorb in comes from the 00:06:21.18\00:06:24.05 outside of us. 00:06:24.05\00:06:25.31 Chronic exposure to this type of LPs in the gut alters the 00:06:25.31\00:06:29.82 structure of the got law. It compromises the protective 00:06:29.82\00:06:34.12 barrier, the border. The border starts breaking down, which 00:06:34.12\00:06:37.33 allows LPs to leak m promoting chronic inflammation and the 00:06:37.33\00:06:41.96 development of disease. Annabelle bowel disease, 00:06:41.96\00:06:44.80 diabetes, obesity, fatty liver, chronic kidney disease, mental 00:06:44.80\00:06:48.54 health disorders, 00:06:48.54\00:06:51.21 let's learn some more about what doctors are triggers of 00:06:51.21\00:06:53.84 leaky gut. 00:06:53.84\00:06:57.08 >> Other things that connect cause significant damage to the 00:06:57.08\00:07:00.95 test. No border, 00:07:00.95\00:07:03.62 our toxins of any kind 00:07:03.62\00:07:05.59 whether their environmental toxins from glyphosate from 00:07:05.59\00:07:09.42 from herbicides and pesticides or other industrial toxins that 00:07:09.42\00:07:13.26 are just in our wider. That's why I always recommend that 00:07:13.26\00:07:16.80 when we consume water for for cooking or drinking, that would 00:07:16.80\00:07:20.27 be filtered through through a good filtration system to limit 00:07:20.27\00:07:24.44 the exposure to toxins, cause toxins are everywhere. And and 00:07:24.44\00:07:28.04 these toxins will damage the intestinal border and and 00:07:28.04\00:07:32.88 create an inflammatory process and information we think of the 00:07:32.88\00:07:37.19 swelling. It increases that that permeability among other 00:07:37.19\00:07:42.29 things into the bloodstream, including those very toxins. 00:07:42.29\00:07:46.26 >> There are a lot of things in our us in our immediate 00:07:46.26\00:07:48.30 environment that can cause so again, we can think about 00:07:48.30\00:07:52.13 and about IX 00:07:52.13\00:07:53.57 and about. It's also 00:07:53.57\00:07:56.10 kill a lot of our healthy micro Biome, but they also can help 00:07:56.10\00:07:59.04 break down the gut barrier and brick break those bridges, 00:07:59.04\00:08:03.21 steroids, 00:08:03.21\00:08:06.18 aspirin, or a category called in said Ys. So like Ibuprofen 00:08:06.18\00:08:11.12 or Advil Aleve, all of those can cause it and how many 00:08:11.12\00:08:16.56 people are taking these daily? Yeah. So there's I mean, 00:08:16.56\00:08:21.33 so I think medications and stress are 2 big ones. 00:08:21.33\00:08:25.10 >> You know, we see this a lot and the pain clinic, 00:08:25.10\00:08:29.44 you know, as I mentioned before, 00:08:29.44\00:08:32.67 we have a lot of patients on opioid pain medications and the 00:08:32.67\00:08:36.31 opioid pain medications affect the got an alternately. These 00:08:36.31\00:08:40.18 patients will develop the he got syndrome and a consequence 00:08:40.18\00:08:45.05 of the he got syndrome is a picture of chronic 00:08:45.05\00:08:49.06 inflammation. 00:08:49.06\00:08:51.59 You know, when when we have all of this chronic inflammation 00:08:51.59\00:08:56.06 going on, we can actually develop autoimmune disorders 00:08:56.06\00:09:00.34 such as lupus, such as rheumatoid arthritis and many 00:09:00.34\00:09:06.21 other autoimmune disorders. A lot of chronic pain patients 00:09:06.21\00:09:10.01 suffer with leaky gut syndrome. You know, many of my patients 00:09:10.01\00:09:13.78 on opioid pain medications, and I'm one of the side effects of 00:09:13.78\00:09:19.19 opioids, unfortunately, is to slow down the got, so stand 00:09:19.19\00:09:24.56 motility in the gut. And as a result, you can have a backup 00:09:24.56\00:09:29.26 of bacteria from the large intestine, into the small 00:09:29.26\00:09:32.83 intestine. And that's a condition we call see beau 00:09:32.83\00:09:35.77 small, intestinal bacterial overgrowth. 00:09:35.77\00:09:39.57 And when that happens, the micro biome becomes disturbed. 00:09:39.57\00:09:44.51 And as a result, the tight junctions between the cells in 00:09:44.51\00:09:49.18 our bow, which is really only one layer thick, those tight 00:09:49.18\00:09:53.39 junctions between the cells become leaky 00:09:53.39\00:09:56.56 and therefore food particles and toxins and things that 00:09:56.56\00:10:00.43 would normally not 00:10:00.43\00:10:02.23 pass through. The bowel can get in our bloodstream 00:10:02.23\00:10:05.63 and when things get into our bloodstream that are not 00:10:05.63\00:10:09.14 supposed to be there are immune system reacts against it are 00:10:09.14\00:10:12.71 immune system. Our white blood cells are antibodies realize 00:10:12.71\00:10:15.61 that, hey, there's something here that's not supposed to be 00:10:15.61\00:10:18.55 here. Let's get rid of it. And so the antibodies bind to 00:10:18.55\00:10:22.55 these food particles and create complexes and then the 00:10:22.55\00:10:25.99 complexes can then become to positive in places such as our 00:10:25.99\00:10:30.09 joints, 00:10:30.09\00:10:31.73 our muscles and all sorts of tissues. And that sets off for 00:10:31.73\00:10:35.76 a picture of chronic inflammation and those tissues. 00:10:35.76\00:10:38.47 And therefore, we develop pain everywhere. 00:10:38.47\00:10:41.44 >> Are you saying that when I have a knee problem and I 00:10:41.44\00:10:43.81 painted my knee, it's not just in a problem. Yes. So I'm not 00:10:43.81\00:10:47.94 exactly what I'm saying is that when you have a new poll is not 00:10:47.94\00:10:50.15 just any problem, it's pain. It's pain and inflammation. 00:10:50.15\00:10:54.15 So yeah, you do have bone on bone and so your body is having 00:10:54.15\00:10:57.89 a hyper reaction 00:10:57.89\00:10:59.85 hyper inflammatory reaction that's causing pain. If you can 00:10:59.85\00:11:03.56 take the inflammation away now the pain is God and you can 00:11:03.56\00:11:07.60 manage and do okay with the same bone on bone x-ray, 00:11:07.60\00:11:11.93 looking exactly the same. 00:11:11.93\00:11:13.84 And so we don't understand. We don't even begin to 00:11:13.84\00:11:16.87 understand as physicians the role that inflammation plays in 00:11:16.87\00:11:22.48 pain, especially musculoskeletal pain. And how 00:11:22.48\00:11:25.51 taking the incense to try to manage that is the worst thing 00:11:25.51\00:11:29.08 you can do because now you're destroying the got to wow. 00:11:29.08\00:11:32.79 My guess is that literally all of us have some kind of pain 00:11:32.79\00:11:36.96 reliever at home. 00:11:36.96\00:11:38.26 So I had to have a clarifying restate what she just shared. 00:11:38.26\00:11:42.63 Yeah, for sure, for sure. And in and if you do it for a 00:11:42.63\00:11:45.43 short period of time and for a very specific reason, dogs, 00:11:45.43\00:11:48.80 if you creating long-term damage is much less. But yes, 00:11:48.80\00:11:52.17 the chronic use that definitely can concrete poles. But I'll 00:11:52.17\00:11:55.81 come back to this. A lot of people are using the end says 00:11:55.81\00:11:59.45 for musculoskeletal pain, I have knee pain, my knees hurt 00:11:59.45\00:12:04.02 or whatever. And what we find is, you know, though, going to 00:12:04.02\00:12:06.96 get an x-ray done and they'll say, oh, my cartledge is 00:12:06.96\00:12:10.09 damaged and, you know, it's bone on bone and this and that 00:12:10.09\00:12:13.13 and I have the pain and I have to have this. 00:12:13.13\00:12:15.86 And you know, if you could actually see stop the pro 00:12:15.86\00:12:19.03 inflammatory foods, 00:12:19.03\00:12:21.57 you can actually reduce the pain can completely go. Re. 00:12:21.57\00:12:25.51 The X-ray looks the same. The pain is gone. You don't 00:12:25.51\00:12:29.31 need that and says, because you've changed your diet to be 00:12:29.31\00:12:32.65 anti inflammatory a set of pro inflammatory, and you've just 00:12:32.65\00:12:36.32 use food as medicine, even eliminated the need to to 00:12:36.32\00:12:39.29 damage your got. And now you're golden. 00:12:39.29\00:12:43.29 >> I think that is so important for us to understand 00:12:43.29\00:12:46.16 by reducing inflammation with lifestyle interventions, 00:12:46.16\00:12:48.83 there is the inc, credible potential that we can still 00:12:48.83\00:12:51.50 have bone on bone, get not need anti-inflammatory medications 00:12:51.50\00:12:55.94 because the inflammation is gone. 00:12:55.94\00:12:58.21 Because when you think about it, anything that weekend's the 00:12:58.21\00:13:00.88 border is going to lead to even more information. 00:13:00.88\00:13:06.18 >> Not having a healthy diet allows to the got to have 00:13:06.18\00:13:11.35 reduce. We have in the got something color, mucus layer, 00:13:11.35\00:13:14.39 which actually kind of helps protect the got in and give out 00:13:14.39\00:13:18.39 a buffer for and so different foods that we eat, kind of 00:13:18.39\00:13:22.26 breakdown that mucus layer and we lose some of that protection 00:13:22.26\00:13:27.30 and allow some of the other new chance to get into the area 00:13:27.30\00:13:31.34 where the bridge bridges can get broken. And so I think of I 00:13:31.34\00:13:34.61 just nutrition in general. 00:13:34.61\00:13:37.45 >> I got a pause here. This is such valuable information. 00:13:37.45\00:13:40.58 Remember, one of the border checkpoints is a mucus layer in 00:13:40.58\00:13:43.35 the small intestine and a 2 layer mucus film lining the 00:13:43.35\00:13:46.25 large intestine. 00:13:46.25\00:13:47.69 This mucus layer protects the wall of the intestine, separate 00:13:47.69\00:13:50.79 exit from contact with intruding microbes or any 00:13:50.79\00:13:53.66 trouble maker. 00:13:53.66\00:13:54.93 The mucus also behaves like an intestinal cleaner, removing 00:13:54.93\00:13:58.47 debris and bacteria flushing them down so we can excrete 00:13:58.47\00:14:02.50 them 00:14:02.50\00:14:03.64 healthy mucus layer protects the immune system by reducing 00:14:03.64\00:14:06.78 its exposure to allergy, triggering molecules that would 00:14:06.78\00:14:10.05 set off a host of symptoms. So in this way, it acts like a 00:14:10.05\00:14:13.55 first-line defense and new immunological defense against 00:14:13.55\00:14:17.79 possible harmful compounds. Because remember, 70% of your 00:14:17.79\00:14:21.86 immune system is stationed right on the other side of this 00:14:21.86\00:14:25.66 very thin intestinal law. 00:14:25.66\00:14:28.03 And if your immune system saw everything in your gut, it 00:14:28.03\00:14:30.60 would probably go Mets. 00:14:30.60\00:14:32.93 So the mucus keep some things away, like harmful intruders 00:14:32.93\00:14:36.77 and external talks and so they could end up in the toilet 00:14:36.77\00:14:39.11 instead of your body. It also protects your gut cells from 00:14:39.11\00:14:42.34 your body's own digestive acids and enzymes. 00:14:42.34\00:14:45.71 But it also transports beneficial travelers to the 00:14:45.71\00:14:48.72 cell wall. The seacoast layer so important to a healthy gut 00:14:48.72\00:14:52.55 different factors and found a breakdown or degrade the mucus 00:14:52.55\00:14:55.92 layer like eating a low fiber diet. 00:14:55.92\00:14:58.59 The fibers in short supply, the bacteria have to resort to 00:14:58.59\00:15:01.30 something else is their fuel source and they can start 00:15:01.30\00:15:04.03 breaking down mucous itself. 00:15:04.03\00:15:06.84 The mucus layer can be broken down by different things like 00:15:06.84\00:15:09.70 low fiber. High fat diet. Food additives Micah lives 00:15:09.70\00:15:13.71 additives like most of fires that are found in common foods 00:15:13.71\00:15:16.88 like ready made puddings many store bought ice creams, 00:15:16.88\00:15:20.95 coffee creamers where you've got to keep the fat in the 00:15:20.95\00:15:23.42 water mix together and claiming us meat glue which is added to 00:15:23.42\00:15:27.56 meat products to hold food like fake crab and chicken nuggets 00:15:27.56\00:15:31.03 together and food sensitivities. I another 00:15:31.03\00:15:34.93 factor that's been associated with a breakdown of the border. 00:15:34.93\00:15:39.53 >> People have got issues. They are sick. What we see 00:15:39.53\00:15:42.24 frequently with leaky gut problems is we see 00:15:42.24\00:15:45.84 food sensitivities 00:15:45.84\00:15:47.98 and 00:15:47.98\00:15:49.58 with food sensitivities. What happens is if you have a 00:15:49.58\00:15:52.21 sense to the 2 food, you tend to cause inflammation 00:15:52.21\00:15:55.55 and the got a lonely, expand so much before you start getting 00:15:55.55\00:16:00.29 the kids around the one cell 00:16:00.29\00:16:02.79 and that leakage then makes you more susceptible to food 00:16:02.79\00:16:05.33 sensitivities. 00:16:05.33\00:16:06.63 We see this with pollen. Also, we don't we don't 00:16:06.63\00:16:09.73 address it that much with pollen, 00:16:09.73\00:16:12.03 but frequently 00:16:12.03\00:16:15.47 you'll find, for instance, around here 00:16:15.47\00:16:18.14 when it's the cedar season and Seager's going crazy, 00:16:18.14\00:16:23.31 people have more problems eating certain foods because 00:16:23.31\00:16:26.18 it's related to the cedar. So in August 00:16:26.18\00:16:30.05 we have ragweed here in this county 00:16:30.05\00:16:32.72 and ragweed is in the same family as a cantaloupe. 00:16:32.72\00:16:38.33 And so I have certain patients. They can eat cantaloupe all 00:16:38.33\00:16:40.76 year round. But in August, they can't eat it because the 00:16:40.76\00:16:43.67 ragweed is your taking the got so they can eat it when it's 00:16:43.67\00:16:47.30 that we just yes. And the old docks knew this. 00:16:47.30\00:16:51.14 In fact, I got this from an old dock from from a Denver, 00:16:51.14\00:16:53.88 Colorado, who is a classical allergists who gave me a whole 00:16:53.88\00:16:56.75 list of what pollen 00:16:56.75\00:16:59.25 that was associated with, what food? Because they're in the 00:16:59.25\00:17:01.72 same family. Okay. Plant family. So. 00:17:01.72\00:17:05.29 >> So that's why when when patients come to me and say, 00:17:05.29\00:17:07.86 oh, I'm really sensitive it, I've done this test and I'm 00:17:07.86\00:17:11.09 allergic to all these different foods. Chances are they're 00:17:11.09\00:17:13.66 really not allergic to all those who say maybe I have a 00:17:13.66\00:17:17.20 problem with a few of them. Okay. But those few are 00:17:17.20\00:17:21.37 creating that leaky. Got that then increase the problem with 00:17:21.37\00:17:25.51 all the other food. And so that means things get into the 00:17:25.51\00:17:29.41 bloodstream that otherwise would not get into the 00:17:29.41\00:17:32.48 bloodstream. These are like inadequately digested proteins, 00:17:32.48\00:17:37.75 for instance, can can get absorbed. I mean, you're ready 00:17:37.75\00:17:40.86 have poor digestion to begin with, right, that led to this 00:17:40.86\00:17:44.26 problem. Now you have these in properly digested proteins to 00:17:44.26\00:17:48.46 get into the bloodstream and now the immune system inside 00:17:48.46\00:17:53.23 the blood stream going, whoa, what is this? This is this is a 00:17:53.23\00:17:56.40 biologically active substance that we don't want in our blood 00:17:56.40\00:18:00.11 in our body. And so it starts. It starts attacking it. And it 00:18:00.11\00:18:03.65 says starts creating a man making antibodies against it. 00:18:03.65\00:18:07.35 Now you can become sensitive or allergic to all kinds of 00:18:07.35\00:18:12.22 things. Otherwise you really would be sensitive to or 00:18:12.22\00:18:15.36 allergic to dust. 00:18:15.36\00:18:16.39 >> Sometimes people develop allergies or autoimmune 00:18:16.39\00:18:20.20 conditions. And they're not really thinking about the 00:18:20.20\00:18:23.93 secure border in the first place. And these might be the 00:18:23.93\00:18:27.97 first symptoms. 00:18:27.97\00:18:29.50 Also developing any chronic, chronic conditions can be the 00:18:29.50\00:18:34.11 first symptoms. 00:18:34.11\00:18:36.31 And the good news is that the treatment for the secure border 00:18:36.31\00:18:40.38 is the same as for any other chronic conditions, 00:18:40.38\00:18:44.32 transitioning to a plant based diet to a whole food 00:18:44.32\00:18:47.49 plant-based diet with enough physical exercise, also with 00:18:47.49\00:18:53.53 incorporating intermittent fasting. Those are the most 00:18:53.53\00:18:57.10 part Florimon D's for all these condition, chronic conditions 00:18:57.10\00:19:00.97 and for the secure border. The if the border is not 00:19:00.97\00:19:05.31 secure, this can be a cause of increased inflammation in our 00:19:05.31\00:19:10.31 body. 00:19:10.31\00:19:11.35 >> And the 00:19:11.35\00:19:14.78 the development of insulin resistance down the road. 00:19:14.78\00:19:18.52 If you're not familiar with insulin resistance, we have an 00:19:18.52\00:19:21.62 episode coming up entirely on that topic. 00:19:21.62\00:19:24.96 But this insulin resistance is the metabolic dysfunction that 00:19:24.96\00:19:28.40 can be at the hub of diabetes or polycystic ovary syndrome or 00:19:28.40\00:19:33.13 obesity, or elevate a cluster on. 00:19:33.13\00:19:35.74 But leaky gut can possibly be what's driving insulin, 00:19:35.74\00:19:39.21 resistance. 00:19:39.21\00:19:41.34 Securing the border is important in preventing the 00:19:41.34\00:19:45.18 development of all the chronic diseases such as obesity and 00:19:45.18\00:19:49.38 type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cancer and 00:19:49.38\00:19:53.15 autoimmune disease. We I will beat. 00:19:53.15\00:19:56.93 >> OK, so we have in one site on east makes vegetables and 00:19:56.93\00:20:01.66 fruits full of phytochemicals antioxidants. I mean, the other 00:20:01.66\00:20:06.37 hand we have, you know, the dunking done instead, Kentucky, 00:20:06.37\00:20:10.37 if it can, and we have that McDonald's and all of these 4 00:20:10.37\00:20:13.61 that their artificial, I have no color. 00:20:13.61\00:20:16.98 So we need to start. You know, I usually tell my patients, 00:20:16.98\00:20:20.58 you know, you have a sport. You ice poor caught one of the 00:20:20.58\00:20:23.69 finest 00:20:23.69\00:20:25.35 and what to put in that Spock. I do want to go and put diesel 00:20:25.35\00:20:30.83 in it. You know, you couldn't look at the manual and said, 00:20:30.83\00:20:34.10 OK, you know, I I want to put that asked the best oil and the 00:20:34.10\00:20:39.10 best gas. So that science has to really show us what the best 00:20:39.10\00:20:45.27 feel is for bodies. And I know that people sometimes my 00:20:45.27\00:20:48.98 patients said I'm so confused at going to the Internet and I 00:20:48.98\00:20:52.35 get all, you know, all sorts of things. You know, cheeses, 00:20:52.35\00:20:55.22 good chase is bad and that coffee is good cause. He's back 00:20:55.22\00:20:58.42 out to Lowe's, good and they're all welcome peace site. I 00:20:58.42\00:21:01.62 usually set 00:21:01.62\00:21:04.33 it's true. 50 years ago. 00:21:04.33\00:21:07.46 I have pictures of doctor us. You know, they want the EMT 00:21:07.46\00:21:11.93 with this big, you know, a lot and and nurses with these nice 00:21:11.93\00:21:15.54 little caps saying that my world was just the best 00:21:15.54\00:21:19.07 cigarettes. The secret 00:21:19.07\00:21:21.64 50 years ago, doctors where promoting that and for a long 00:21:21.64\00:21:26.68 time, people caught confuse because the research didn't 00:21:26.68\00:21:31.42 show any damaged. No conclusive knew it would neutral. 00:21:31.42\00:21:36.56 And still people didn't know until they figure out who was 00:21:36.56\00:21:41.86 sponsoring those trials. 00:21:41.86\00:21:44.33 And they feel that that was actually day 00:21:44.33\00:21:47.17 secret, that tobacco companies that what 00:21:47.17\00:21:50.77 making the U.S. trials and getting those conclusions now 00:21:50.77\00:21:54.78 when asked that to take. But actually that's happening 00:21:54.78\00:21:57.78 today with that foot 00:21:57.78\00:21:59.48 because the research of cheese and research of dairy be such a 00:21:59.48\00:22:03.12 need now all compromise when we know police to sponsor them. 00:22:03.12\00:22:08.86 One of the things that I give to my patients, it's a Web 00:22:08.86\00:22:12.33 cycle. Nutrition facts that it 00:22:12.33\00:22:15.96 it's not sponsored by any pharmaceutical. It's not a 00:22:15.96\00:22:18.53 sponsored by any food. 00:22:18.53\00:22:21.17 It's 00:22:21.17\00:22:22.84 a physician who has has been to a team of people to collect all 00:22:22.84\00:22:27.04 the research, the analyze them, and they bring all the ones to 00:22:27.04\00:22:31.18 have no by us, too, 00:22:31.18\00:22:33.21 for the public. And so it is sometimes scientific and make 00:22:33.21\00:22:37.95 people may feel intimidated. But then the website has still 00:22:37.95\00:22:43.66 intention to educate 00:22:43.66\00:22:45.79 the general public. 00:22:45.79\00:22:47.76 So I would highly recommend out to all of your viewers to to 00:22:47.76\00:22:53.00 look into know, watching the news can be a little bit 00:22:53.00\00:22:58.64 tricky. 00:22:58.64\00:22:59.91 I have a problem recently when the new said that aspirin was 00:22:59.91\00:23:03.78 not necessary anymore. Bice an unknown guy lines and some 00:23:03.78\00:23:08.28 recent research. 00:23:08.28\00:23:11.05 That's what the news mentioned. And so I have obese patients 00:23:11.05\00:23:14.82 calling my office and said all I I don't need has been the 00:23:14.82\00:23:17.43 more I don't need has been. And then you said and I don't 00:23:17.43\00:23:19.86 need it. 00:23:19.86\00:23:20.96 So when you look at the recent at the research, this was a 00:23:20.96\00:23:24.10 prevention trial. So 00:23:24.10\00:23:27.57 we used to recommend everyone, you know, about 50 to just get 00:23:27.57\00:23:31.04 an ask me. We know now that you don't need to do that unless 00:23:31.04\00:23:35.18 you have risk factors, you bad etiquette. You a small cut. 00:23:35.18\00:23:38.35 Even you have high disease Eve. You had prior bypass surgery. 00:23:38.35\00:23:43.49 You need asking for my patients with bypass surgery. Wanted to 00:23:43.49\00:23:47.26 quit asking because that they were they watching us us. 00:23:47.26\00:23:51.16 The gut is exposed to. 00:23:51.16\00:23:53.33 >> Noxious agents, whether there are, you know, parasites 00:23:53.33\00:23:57.47 or bacteria that are not. And, you know, from the got the 00:23:57.47\00:24:01.84 date do not belong in our micro biome and they're introduced in 00:24:01.84\00:24:05.27 some way the God they get damaged and the most important 00:24:05.27\00:24:08.61 thing that causes damages food in on processed foods and 00:24:08.61\00:24:12.88 unhealthy foods, foods that are very high in saturated fats and 00:24:12.88\00:24:17.15 salt and sugar. They tend to damage the the got barrier. 00:24:17.15\00:24:21.59 And so you see seepage off on one to get products into the 00:24:21.59\00:24:25.66 circulation, which in turn affects the rest of our system. 00:24:25.66\00:24:29.43 >> So I want to show you what has to change when they see 00:24:29.43\00:24:33.03 graphic from the 19, 100's, 2, 2, 110. These was published and 00:24:33.03\00:24:38.64 in a flood review and major saint of pulling a in review in 00:24:38.64\00:24:43.35 2000. So should buy in the 19. 100's of people were consuming 00:24:43.35\00:24:47.68 5 pounds a year 00:24:47.68\00:24:50.02 today into into that in 2010, 190 pounds 00:24:50.02\00:24:55.72 should I? That was to the oil. 4 pounds mad men today. 74. 00:24:55.72\00:25:01.86 She's 2 pounds per year. Now, 30 pounds 00:25:01.86\00:25:06.17 meet 140 pounds per year. Now, 210 pounds for them 00:25:06.17\00:25:12.17 vegetables back in the 1900, 131 pounds 00:25:12.17\00:25:16.68 yet. Now 11 00:25:16.68\00:25:19.95 cases Eve. You're telling me what has changed. Okay. This is 00:25:19.95\00:25:24.69 a very important graphic, too. You know, calories in 192100 00:25:24.69\00:25:29.69 colleagues 00:25:29.69\00:25:31.23 to 10, 00:25:31.23\00:25:32.83 2010. 00:25:32.83\00:25:34.10 I was 3,000 and nutrient density 00:25:34.10\00:25:39.23 really hast 00:25:39.23\00:25:41.27 guy completely down because people are not even vegetables 00:25:41.27\00:25:44.64 and fruits.
