Hi, I'm Dr. Kim, and welcome to, Live To Be Well. 00:00:35.70\00:00:39.53 Let me ask you a question. 00:00:39.87\00:00:41.30 How are your finances? 00:00:41.60\00:00:43.87 Well today I have an amazing financial adviser 00:00:43.91\00:00:48.34 on Live To Be Well. 00:00:48.38\00:00:49.84 - Welcome, Ryan. How're you? - Thank you so much, Dr. Kim. 00:00:49.94\00:00:52.71 And thank you for the work you're always 00:00:52.75\00:00:54.08 doing for the community. 00:00:54.12\00:00:55.45 Oh listen, likewise. 00:00:55.48\00:00:56.82 Well let's get into the heart, because I know I'm going to 00:00:56.85\00:00:58.69 learn a lot from you and how to improve what I have. 00:00:58.72\00:01:02.29 - It's all about growth, right? - Absolutely, all the time. 00:01:02.32\00:01:04.76 Alright, let's talk about inner city finances. 00:01:04.79\00:01:07.63 What are some of your concerns or some of the challenges 00:01:07.83\00:01:10.77 you see within our community? 00:01:10.80\00:01:12.93 Well, within inner cities you have a lot of 00:01:12.97\00:01:16.20 essentially predators preying upon what we don't know. 00:01:16.47\00:01:18.74 One of the most precious commodities sadly in our 00:01:18.77\00:01:20.88 communities is ignorance. 00:01:20.91\00:01:22.61 You would think it would be God, you'd think it would be love, 00:01:23.18\00:01:25.08 but sadly many individuals exploit ignorance, 00:01:25.11\00:01:27.75 what individuals don't know. 00:01:27.78\00:01:29.12 So if you walk down the streets within inner city, 00:01:29.15\00:01:31.25 you see the check cashing places, the payday loans, 00:01:31.29\00:01:33.46 the title loans, the cash advances, 00:01:33.49\00:01:35.22 the pre-paid debit cards. 00:01:35.26\00:01:37.43 The new banking within many inner cities has become the 00:01:37.46\00:01:40.20 pawn shop because individuals are living 00:01:40.23\00:01:41.93 check to Tuesday not able to sustain their wealth 00:01:41.96\00:01:44.57 through the rest to their payday. 00:01:44.60\00:01:46.40 So what they're doing is, I saw one stat that said 00:01:46.43\00:01:49.84 in south side Chicago they're spending as much as 00:01:49.87\00:01:52.97 23 million dollars in one zip code in the 00:01:53.01\00:01:55.54 south side of Chicago on lotto tickets. 00:01:55.58\00:01:57.51 So again, it seems if we are spending 23 million dollars, 00:01:57.71\00:02:02.18 that means individuals are spending more money 00:02:02.22\00:02:04.15 on luck and they have more faith in luck than what God has 00:02:04.19\00:02:08.42 given them to be successful. 00:02:08.46\00:02:09.79 So what we have to do is really understand that, 00:02:09.82\00:02:12.39 yes, individuals, it's half a trillion dollar industry 00:02:12.49\00:02:15.46 that individuals are making on what we don't know. 00:02:15.66\00:02:18.07 So if we can take that knowledge and say that God has given us 00:02:18.43\00:02:21.44 knowledge, the wealth of knowledge and all these things 00:02:21.47\00:02:24.31 that God has given us, and use that knowledge 00:02:24.34\00:02:26.37 for tools of empowerment. 00:02:26.41\00:02:27.74 And that's what financial literacy really is all about. 00:02:27.78\00:02:30.58 You know, it's all about wisdom, it's about understanding 00:02:30.68\00:02:32.68 who you are, it's about understanding whose you are. 00:02:32.71\00:02:35.08 And understanding that, yes you do have the ability to 00:02:35.28\00:02:37.69 be successful, and God has given you, I think it says, 00:02:37.72\00:02:39.95 Ephesians 1:3, "Blessed be the Lord and Father 00:02:39.99\00:02:42.36 of our God Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us 00:02:42.39\00:02:44.23 with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ." 00:02:44.26\00:02:47.26 That doesn't mean He's going to bless us. 00:02:47.46\00:02:49.56 It means He's already blessed us. 00:02:49.60\00:02:51.40 So we don't have to wait any longer for God to bless us. 00:02:51.43\00:02:53.77 We just have to use the tools that God has given us right now 00:02:53.80\00:02:56.40 to say, "Listen, we've got to put that ignorance to the side 00:02:56.54\00:02:59.17 and use the wealth and faith and knowledge in God 00:02:59.21\00:03:01.78 and what Christ has given us to be successful." 00:03:01.81\00:03:03.78 And then start saying, "I'm going to use financial literacy 00:03:03.81\00:03:05.75 to prove that I have faith and prove that there is a Lord, 00:03:05.78\00:03:09.38 and I'm going to walk and be successful with it." 00:03:09.42\00:03:11.22 Oh, I agree with that. 00:03:11.25\00:03:12.75 When I hear you talk about the check cashing places 00:03:13.05\00:03:15.92 and all these entities, it's like slavery. 00:03:15.96\00:03:19.29 - Financial slavery. ~ Yes, absolutely. 00:03:19.33\00:03:21.03 If I'm someone who is coming out of college, 00:03:21.43\00:03:24.63 or even before I get to college, how do I begin 00:03:24.80\00:03:29.10 developing my financial portfolio? 00:03:29.77\00:03:31.91 What do I need to do? 00:03:31.94\00:03:33.27 There's this thing called, what I like to term as money heaven. 00:03:33.31\00:03:36.34 And that's when you spend money on these things, 00:03:36.38\00:03:38.58 you're never going to see it again. 00:03:38.61\00:03:40.02 And so when you realize what money heaven means, 00:03:40.05\00:03:42.08 that means that when you spend money on debt, 00:03:42.12\00:03:44.75 so you have to really control your debt. 00:03:44.79\00:03:46.12 You have to really control when you spend money on taxes, 00:03:46.15\00:03:48.56 you have to minimize your taxes, minimizing the amount of money 00:03:48.59\00:03:51.16 you're putting in living expenses, all those things 00:03:51.19\00:03:53.16 that you don't need, you know. 00:03:53.19\00:03:54.70 What you can walk away from, you have mastered. 00:03:55.10\00:03:57.23 What you cannot walk away from has mastered you. 00:03:57.27\00:03:59.50 So what we have to understand is, take those living expenses, 00:03:59.53\00:04:02.40 minimize those. 00:04:02.44\00:04:03.77 And then on irresponsible giving. 00:04:03.81\00:04:06.84 I mean, we want to tithe to our churches, 00:04:06.88\00:04:08.41 we want to give to our churches. 00:04:08.44\00:04:09.78 But we don't want to do that irresponsible giving. 00:04:09.81\00:04:11.41 People come and say, "Hey, let me hold $20." 00:04:11.45\00:04:13.68 "Let me hold $100." 00:04:13.72\00:04:15.05 "Let me pay you back when I get my tax return," type of deal. 00:04:15.08\00:04:17.65 So that's not the type of giving we want to get into. 00:04:17.69\00:04:20.06 We want to give it in an empowerment way. 00:04:20.09\00:04:21.89 So all these things; between debt, taxes, 00:04:21.92\00:04:24.86 irresponsible giving, all these things we want to make sure 00:04:24.89\00:04:28.76 we minimize those things, and living expenses. 00:04:28.80\00:04:31.13 But then we can take the rest of that money 00:04:31.23\00:04:33.50 and put towards increase. 00:04:33.54\00:04:35.37 You know, God wants us to live a life of increase. 00:04:35.40\00:04:37.94 So how can we put money into things that are actually 00:04:38.04\00:04:40.04 increasing and not decreasing? 00:04:40.08\00:04:41.74 Using debt responsibly; 00:04:41.78\00:04:43.11 mortgages and putting money on homes. 00:04:43.14\00:04:45.28 Using debt responsibly by purchasing a 00:04:45.31\00:04:47.38 business that you've had. 00:04:47.42\00:04:49.05 Using debt or using money responsibly 00:04:49.08\00:04:51.45 by putting money in assets that actually appreciate in value. 00:04:51.49\00:04:54.02 You know, stocks, bonds, business real estate. 00:04:54.06\00:04:56.22 All those types of things. 00:04:56.26\00:04:57.59 When you are putting the money on the irresponsible things 00:04:57.63\00:05:00.20 aside, now you're putting your money to things that increase. 00:05:00.23\00:05:02.96 We do a lot of work with those in the inner city, 00:05:03.00\00:05:05.37 gang members and whatnot, and helping individuals. 00:05:05.40\00:05:07.77 I was talking to one of them and they said, "Ryan, I don't have 00:05:07.80\00:05:09.74 enough money to start a business." 00:05:09.77\00:05:11.94 But he had on a $700 Ferragamo belt. 00:05:12.14\00:05:14.28 So he had enough money to buy this belt, 00:05:14.94\00:05:17.51 but he didn't have enough money to start a business. 00:05:17.88\00:05:20.12 I said, "Well, essentially what you're doing is," 00:05:20.15\00:05:22.02 I said, "I'll point it out to you, you have that 00:05:22.05\00:05:23.39 $700 Ferragamo belt." 00:05:23.42\00:05:24.92 What we have been taught is, you know, when you go to an 00:05:25.35\00:05:28.36 apple orchard, right, I like eating apples, 00:05:28.39\00:05:30.43 you go to an apple orchard and you like to 00:05:30.86\00:05:32.23 pull apples from the tree. 00:05:32.26\00:05:33.83 We eat from the tree. 00:05:34.50\00:05:35.90 But we have not been taught that we can be like the tree. 00:05:36.00\00:05:38.50 So what he's been taught, I said, "What you're doing 00:05:38.93\00:05:41.24 with that $700 Ferragamo belt is you are essentially 00:05:41.27\00:05:43.94 only eating from the tree making somebody else rich." 00:05:43.97\00:05:46.44 You're paying his bills, you're paying his mortgage, 00:05:46.78\00:05:49.41 you're putting money in his pocket. 00:05:49.44\00:05:51.45 Meanwhile, you have a dream that God has put inside your head 00:05:51.48\00:05:54.75 that you are robbing. 00:05:54.78\00:05:56.25 And you are not only robbing yourself of that dream, 00:05:56.35\00:05:58.35 but all those other individuals of that business. 00:05:58.39\00:06:00.49 You know, when I was in Brooklyn we helped over 2000 individuals 00:06:00.52\00:06:03.12 start their own business who were formerly incarcerated. 00:06:03.16\00:06:05.79 How did we do that? Because we had our own business. 00:06:05.83\00:06:08.30 Because we saved, we put money aside, 00:06:08.40\00:06:11.03 we started businesses, and then we were are able to 00:06:11.13\00:06:13.23 then take time out to give and help those coming from prison, 00:06:13.27\00:06:16.71 help those who were formerly incarcerated. 00:06:16.74\00:06:18.54 Then they started their own businesses, they helped other 00:06:18.57\00:06:20.68 Bloods and Crips get off the street. 00:06:20.71\00:06:22.71 So this is the type of things that our communities, 00:06:22.81\00:06:24.88 especially you talk about the inner city, 00:06:24.91\00:06:26.51 the type of things that we have to start looking at. 00:06:26.61\00:06:28.62 So building wealth is not only what you can do for yourself. 00:06:28.65\00:06:31.42 It really frees you to help do things for other people. 00:06:31.45\00:06:34.32 So what I always ask is not how much money you've obtained, 00:06:34.36\00:06:38.09 but what have you done for other people? 00:06:38.13\00:06:40.06 And what have you done to make a difference for other people? 00:06:40.26\00:06:42.66 And you know, Madame C. J. Walker said it best, 00:06:42.70\00:06:45.13 "It's not how much money I make, it's about what I can do. 00:06:45.33\00:06:47.97 And the more money I make, the more people I can help." 00:06:48.00\00:06:50.67 And that's really what it's all about. 00:06:51.01\00:06:52.87 So I want people to make all the money in the world. 00:06:52.91\00:06:54.78 I want them to make a lot of money. 00:06:54.81\00:06:56.24 I want them to move those obstacles out of the way. 00:06:56.28\00:06:58.01 But I want them to invest. 00:06:58.05\00:06:59.38 And even if you're not able to become a millionaire, 00:06:59.41\00:07:01.08 or even a multi-thousandaire, whatever you can do, 00:07:01.28\00:07:04.42 you're being responsible and you're living a life 00:07:04.45\00:07:06.19 that Christ has meant for you 00:07:06.22\00:07:07.76 and you're not living a life that is Satan's. 00:07:07.86\00:07:10.36 Because we know he's out there. 00:07:10.39\00:07:11.73 And you know he's attacking all of our families 00:07:11.76\00:07:13.50 in our household trying to break us up. 00:07:13.53\00:07:15.36 So we have to do those things that are responsible. 00:07:15.46\00:07:17.07 Financial literacy does that. 00:07:17.10\00:07:18.53 What are the myths in the community and families that, 00:07:18.57\00:07:23.10 "I don't have a lot of money, so why do I need 00:07:23.37\00:07:25.44 to sit down with a financial adviser?" 00:07:25.47\00:07:27.41 Well I mean, my mother, when she raised us, 00:07:27.71\00:07:31.31 we had some of that cheese that doesn't melt in the oven. 00:07:31.35\00:07:33.88 And we had the powdered milk and we had the sausage 00:07:33.92\00:07:37.55 that might of had a couple of extra pieces of gristle in it 00:07:37.59\00:07:39.65 where you might lose a few teeth if you 00:07:39.69\00:07:41.56 chewed down too hard on it. 00:07:41.59\00:07:42.96 So I mean, but we had some help from the government growing up. 00:07:42.99\00:07:45.39 But my mother also knew how to budget. 00:07:45.73\00:07:47.60 And she also understood that when she would... 00:07:48.00\00:07:50.00 She literally would take me window shopping with her. 00:07:50.03\00:07:53.03 And she would go to the highfalutin stores downtown, 00:07:53.20\00:07:55.74 the Somerset stores. 00:07:55.77\00:07:57.31 She couldn't afford to pay for anything there. 00:07:57.34\00:07:59.54 She would come back on the side of town we lived at 00:07:59.64\00:08:01.81 and she would spend $5 or $10 for the exact 00:08:01.84\00:08:04.21 same outfits that she saw in those stores at Somerset 00:08:04.25\00:08:07.08 at the resale stores. 00:08:07.12\00:08:08.45 Why? Because she budgeted. 00:08:08.48\00:08:10.35 You know, I actually... 00:08:10.39\00:08:11.79 And then she would buy bonds for us. 00:08:11.82\00:08:14.62 And she would say, "Ryan, I'm investing 00:08:14.66\00:08:15.99 for your college future. 00:08:16.02\00:08:17.43 I don't have a lot of money for a lot of things, 00:08:17.46\00:08:18.96 but I want you to go to college. 00:08:18.99\00:08:20.33 And this is valuable to me. This is where my value lies. 00:08:20.36\00:08:23.20 In your future and where you're going to be. 00:08:23.40\00:08:26.37 Not where you are, but where you're going to be." 00:08:26.40\00:08:27.94 And that's what Christ has for us, right? 00:08:27.97\00:08:29.90 Christ invests in where we're going. 00:08:30.01\00:08:31.57 He doesn't invest in where we're at now, 00:08:31.61\00:08:32.94 He's already got the place prepared. 00:08:32.97\00:08:34.31 We've just got to go get it, right? 00:08:34.34\00:08:35.78 So that's what my mother was doing for us. 00:08:35.81\00:08:37.95 And so that's what we really have to do. 00:08:38.15\00:08:40.48 When we embrace that, and then the myths of, 00:08:40.52\00:08:43.35 "We don't have enough money," again, all those individuals 00:08:43.39\00:08:46.15 out there who are exploiting us, they want us 00:08:46.19\00:08:48.06 to keep thinking that. 00:08:48.09\00:08:49.42 I was in a pawn shop the other day 00:08:49.46\00:08:51.79 and we took a tour of the pawn shop. 00:08:51.96\00:08:54.66 We do workshops inside the pawn shops in inner cities. 00:08:54.86\00:08:58.03 So we do financial literacy, because we've got to go 00:08:58.07\00:08:59.83 where the people really need us. 00:08:59.87\00:09:01.27 So we're inside the pawn shop, and actually in this pawn shop 00:09:01.37\00:09:04.74 they actually had fur coats inside 00:09:04.97\00:09:07.54 the back house, in the warehouse. 00:09:07.58\00:09:08.91 People have been trained to purchase the fur coat 00:09:08.94\00:09:12.65 in the fall, they wear it in the winter, 00:09:12.68\00:09:15.02 they pawn it in the spring, they pay for it in the summer, 00:09:15.22\00:09:18.92 then they bring it back out in the fall 00:09:18.95\00:09:20.66 to wear it in the winter. 00:09:20.69\00:09:22.02 And the cycle goes on and on and on. 00:09:22.06\00:09:24.03 So they pay for this same fur coat over and over again 00:09:24.23\00:09:27.16 because they want to look the part. 00:09:27.20\00:09:29.03 They might not have it, because they want to look the part. 00:09:29.06\00:09:31.37 Because their self-esteem, or whatever it is, 00:09:31.40\00:09:33.37 is as such where they put a value on what they look like 00:09:33.47\00:09:37.17 as opposed to what's in their pocket 00:09:37.21\00:09:38.54 or according to what my mother was doing for us. 00:09:38.57\00:09:40.18 "I might not have a lot of money, but I'm going to 00:09:40.44\00:09:42.08 invest in my children's future." 00:09:42.11\00:09:43.58 "I might not have a lot of money, but you know, 00:09:43.61\00:09:45.21 I'm going to buy my first house and move 00:09:45.25\00:09:46.68 out of this neighborhood." 00:09:46.72\00:09:48.05 "I might not have a lot of money, but I'm going to 00:09:48.08\00:09:49.88 make sure that I'm going to help my kid start his first business 00:09:49.92\00:09:52.59 and make sure he can go." 00:09:52.62\00:09:53.96 And I got my first job at eleven and a half years old. 00:09:53.99\00:09:56.46 All these types of things are the values that we have to 00:09:56.49\00:09:59.16 start putting into our families and our household, 00:09:59.19\00:10:01.26 which is really the crux of what financial literacy is all about. 00:10:01.30\00:10:03.77 So I don't want to hear about, "I don't have a lot of money." 00:10:03.80\00:10:06.77 The less money you have, the more you need these principles, 00:10:07.04\00:10:10.54 the more you need to budget, the more you need to 00:10:10.57\00:10:12.17 avoid financial predators, the more you need to learn 00:10:12.21\00:10:14.31 how to mitigate your risk with the right levels of assurance, 00:10:14.34\00:10:16.64 the more you need to make sure you can have 00:10:16.68\00:10:18.55 the right levels of estate planning, 00:10:18.58\00:10:19.98 the more you need to make sure you can 00:10:20.02\00:10:21.35 learn about stocks. 00:10:21.45\00:10:22.78 Again, we're not preparing for where we are. 00:10:22.82\00:10:24.89 We're preparing for where we're going. 00:10:24.92\00:10:26.72 So don't you think one day, because if God has promised 00:10:26.76\00:10:29.52 you a life of increase, don't you want to prepare for that day 00:10:29.56\00:10:31.83 when you get that increase? 00:10:31.86\00:10:33.29 So you might not have a lot of money to put 00:10:33.33\00:10:34.93 a lot into stocks right now, even though you can buy 00:10:34.96\00:10:37.33 DRIP accounts and investments for as much as 00:10:37.57\00:10:39.33 $25 a month, and you can buy different investments, 00:10:39.37\00:10:42.40 pieces of securities, for $25 or $50 a month. 00:10:42.44\00:10:45.37 So you might have that. 00:10:45.41\00:10:46.74 To really go at that myth, if it costs $200 for our Nike shoes, 00:10:46.78\00:10:52.48 walk through inner city neighborhoods. 00:10:52.51\00:10:53.85 How many pairs of Nike shoes do you see? 00:10:53.88\00:10:55.95 If it costs $200 for Nike shoes, last I heard Nike stock 00:10:55.98\00:10:58.49 trades at about $52 or $53 dollars a share. 00:10:58.52\00:11:00.76 So if you can buy shoes for $200, 00:11:01.19\00:11:04.46 you can buy four shares of stock. 00:11:04.86\00:11:06.70 So again, we've been trained to eat from the tree, 00:11:06.73\00:11:08.73 but yet we have not been trained to be like the tree. 00:11:08.76\00:11:11.07 So once we start learning these principles, 00:11:11.17\00:11:13.40 then all of a sudden we're going to start 00:11:13.44\00:11:14.77 seeing empowerment start to reign again. 00:11:14.80\00:11:16.30 And God wants us to, God has promised us a life of increase. 00:11:16.34\00:11:19.87 So financial literacy is that tool to help us 00:11:20.14\00:11:22.68 get to where God has promised us to go. 00:11:22.71\00:11:24.35 And I'm trying to go where God wants me to go. 00:11:24.38\00:11:26.18 Let's talk about your humble beginnings. 00:11:26.61\00:11:28.45 You know, where you're from, your parents, your siblings, 00:11:28.48\00:11:32.19 your education. 00:11:32.22\00:11:33.56 Well I mean, I grew up in Detroit, Michigan. 00:11:33.59\00:11:36.12 And so again, you know, Detroit is not always 00:11:36.16\00:11:38.69 the most positively talked about city in the world. 00:11:38.73\00:11:41.90 But it's the best city in the world as far as I'm concerned. 00:11:41.93\00:11:43.67 It's the best city. 00:11:43.70\00:11:45.03 It is not a city in the world that can 00:11:45.07\00:11:46.40 prepare you for life the way Detroit can. 00:11:46.43\00:11:47.77 And I have a lot of friends that are from Detroit. 00:11:47.80\00:11:49.40 They go all around the world and they're always successful 00:11:49.44\00:11:52.04 because of the hustle that has been put within us. 00:11:52.14\00:11:53.98 And we were blessed to live in the city. 00:11:54.01\00:11:55.34 And you know, I'm from the east side of Detroit. 00:11:55.38\00:11:56.91 Okay, yes ma'am. 00:11:56.95\00:11:58.28 So you know I have that hustle, okay, alright? 00:11:58.31\00:11:59.85 I use to hang out there in east side all the time. 00:11:59.88\00:12:01.55 Boy, I loved it. 00:12:01.58\00:12:02.92 And the thing is that, so I was very close with my mother. 00:12:02.95\00:12:05.75 My father, we got closer later on. 00:12:05.79\00:12:08.12 And so we developed a good relationship later on in life. 00:12:08.16\00:12:11.66 So I'm very thankful and blessed for that. 00:12:11.69\00:12:13.53 So I have two older brothers. 00:12:14.13\00:12:15.86 Both doing well and both who are very familiar with 00:12:15.90\00:12:18.43 humble beginnings as well. 00:12:18.47\00:12:20.40 But we were always taught, again, it's really about 00:12:21.00\00:12:23.64 the level of impact that you have, and so we would have 00:12:23.67\00:12:26.57 days where we would go volunteer 00:12:26.61\00:12:28.21 even though we didn't have a lot of money. 00:12:28.24\00:12:29.74 My mother always taught us, said, "Look, we might not 00:12:29.78\00:12:32.01 have a lot of money, but we could always give to somebody." 00:12:32.05\00:12:34.62 You might not have money to give, but you have time to give, 00:12:34.72\00:12:37.25 you have love to give, you have value and education to give. 00:12:37.29\00:12:40.52 So that's why we're always teaching. 00:12:40.56\00:12:41.89 My brother is an attorney. 00:12:41.92\00:12:43.26 And my other brother is a pharmaceutical sales rep, 00:12:43.29\00:12:45.69 but he gives his time all the time at different shelters, 00:12:45.73\00:12:47.96 and he teaches his children. 00:12:48.00\00:12:49.33 And my brother does the same as well. 00:12:49.36\00:12:50.70 So all of these things come together, but I mean, 00:12:50.80\00:12:53.47 I will tell you, when I first really understood how 00:12:53.50\00:12:56.07 financial literacy was extremely valuable to me, 00:12:56.10\00:12:59.77 I was walking down a street in Brooklyn. 00:12:59.97\00:13:02.48 I just started my business and I'm this highfalutin 00:13:02.81\00:13:06.05 financial planner now, you know. 00:13:06.08\00:13:08.12 And I saw this little girl who was shot, was murdered. 00:13:08.15\00:13:11.45 And it struck me. 00:13:11.69\00:13:13.42 And I knew that it was probably the result of a crossfire 00:13:13.46\00:13:16.49 right on the street right near where I lived at. 00:13:16.52\00:13:19.09 And I knew the Bloods lived there, were always there. 00:13:19.29\00:13:21.96 I said, "Why?" 00:13:22.26\00:13:23.60 They were pulling the sheet over the top of her head. 00:13:23.63\00:13:24.97 And it resonated with me. 00:13:25.00\00:13:26.33 I said, "Wow, what a... 00:13:26.37\00:13:27.70 You know, we've got to do something about this." 00:13:27.80\00:13:29.50 This is the lifestyle. We're not meant for this. 00:13:29.54\00:13:31.67 We're not made for this type of living. 00:13:31.71\00:13:33.34 So we pulled all the Bloods and the Crips and the Latin Kings 00:13:33.38\00:13:36.41 together in the neighborhood. 00:13:36.44\00:13:37.81 At least a lot of the leadership. 00:13:38.21\00:13:39.55 And it was a very small room, and we talked to them about 00:13:39.58\00:13:41.75 what can they do to put their guns down 00:13:41.78\00:13:43.35 and how can we help them. 00:13:43.39\00:13:44.72 Be as tangible as possible. 00:13:44.75\00:13:46.35 And I picked out the leader of the largest sect in Brooklyn, 00:13:46.45\00:13:50.63 the Bloods, and we met. 00:13:50.66\00:13:52.03 And again, nine months later we sat down for breakfast... 00:13:52.13\00:13:55.46 The next morning we sat down, and nine months later 00:13:55.50\00:13:58.53 we helped him form his own business. 00:13:58.73\00:14:00.37 And he employed ten other Bloods through that business. 00:14:00.54\00:14:03.37 And he started to take them off the street and help them. 00:14:03.41\00:14:06.41 So this is the type of thing. 00:14:06.44\00:14:07.78 We eventually employed or helped over 2000 individuals 00:14:07.81\00:14:10.31 who were formerly incarcerated. 00:14:10.35\00:14:11.71 So if I had not been fiscally responsible, right, 00:14:11.75\00:14:15.95 I would not have been able to address that 00:14:16.15\00:14:18.39 or respond in that way. 00:14:18.42\00:14:20.46 Because I knew that it had to take time. 00:14:20.49\00:14:22.86 Financial literacy really is all about creating time. 00:14:22.89\00:14:26.36 Because we are not designed, God does not want us to be 00:14:26.63\00:14:29.86 concerned or worried about money. 00:14:29.90\00:14:31.80 Be anxious for nothing, especially for money, right? 00:14:31.83\00:14:34.34 So He does not want us to be concerned 00:14:34.44\00:14:35.80 or worried about money. 00:14:35.84\00:14:37.17 He wants us to make sure that we are living our life of purpose. 00:14:37.21\00:14:40.41 The purpose of life is a life with a purpose 00:14:40.44\00:14:42.41 and to give back and empower others. 00:14:42.44\00:14:44.48 To make a life a better place. 00:14:44.51\00:14:46.11 So we can't do that if we've got bills piling up. 00:14:46.31\00:14:49.05 We can't do that if we're all worried about material things 00:14:49.08\00:14:52.42 and all these things that mean actually nothing 00:14:52.45\00:14:54.42 while we don't have enough money to afford to pay our rent. 00:14:54.46\00:14:56.66 So we can't do all these things if we're worrying about money. 00:14:57.06\00:15:00.43 So financial literacy takes us... 00:15:00.53\00:15:02.16 God wants us to say, "Move that money off the table 00:15:02.26\00:15:05.87 and live the life that I want you to live." 00:15:05.97\00:15:08.10 And you know, God teaches us about everything. 00:15:08.30\00:15:11.41 The Bible teaches us about everything. 00:15:11.44\00:15:14.04 There's no single greatest financial planning book 00:15:14.24\00:15:18.21 than the Word of God. 00:15:18.25\00:15:19.58 The Word of Christ was a blueprint that gave us 00:15:19.61\00:15:21.42 every single living thing. 00:15:21.45\00:15:22.82 - So read that book first. - Read it first. 00:15:22.85\00:15:25.59 And then go on to Suze Orman. 00:15:25.62\00:15:27.59 And you know, maybe if you feel like it, 00:15:27.69\00:15:29.49 pick up my book, or something like that. 00:15:29.52\00:15:31.16 Alright, I most definitely will. 00:15:31.19\00:15:32.59 But you start with the Bible. 00:15:32.63\00:15:34.83 If you read that Bible and you go in Proverbs, 00:15:34.86\00:15:37.30 it talks about your mentality, it talks about estate planning, 00:15:37.33\00:15:40.20 it talks about wisdom. 00:15:40.24\00:15:41.57 I mean, there's so much that it has that relates to how we 00:15:41.60\00:15:44.34 manage our resources effectively. 00:15:44.37\00:15:46.44 The Bible talks about, "Above all things I wish for you to 00:15:46.54\00:15:49.48 prosper and be in good health." 00:15:49.51\00:15:51.85 We see that our communities are integrated with the 00:15:52.11\00:15:57.12 liquor stores, you know, the supermarkets. 00:15:58.02\00:16:02.76 Where you go somewhere and get the lettuce maybe 00:16:02.89\00:16:06.86 for $1.50, but in the inner city it's $4.00. 00:16:06.90\00:16:10.83 Because they can't get to the supermarkets. 00:16:10.93\00:16:14.34 So you think about, "I only have this much money. 00:16:14.67\00:16:18.11 I mean, I have four or five children. 00:16:18.14\00:16:19.87 And I'm trying to keep a roof over my head, you know. 00:16:20.11\00:16:22.84 And I need some help." 00:16:22.98\00:16:25.11 Are there financial programs available 00:16:25.38\00:16:29.55 for our inner city communities? 00:16:29.58\00:16:31.19 Absolutely. Well we're actually starting 00:16:31.22\00:16:33.52 a movement called, Main Street. 00:16:33.56\00:16:35.06 And one of the things is that... 00:16:35.26\00:16:37.19 You know, I use to be a part of those 00:16:37.76\00:16:39.16 things called, Operation HOPE. 00:16:39.19\00:16:40.53 I raised a few million dollars. 00:16:40.56\00:16:41.90 I helped individuals to provide free financial literacy 00:16:41.93\00:16:43.57 resources in the inner city communities, 00:16:43.60\00:16:45.40 and rural America as well. 00:16:45.43\00:16:46.94 But these programs, there are so many programs, 00:16:47.30\00:16:50.61 so many resources, you'd be amazed on how 00:16:50.64\00:16:53.21 they help you repair your credit for free. 00:16:53.24\00:16:55.34 They help you put your budget together for free. 00:16:55.44\00:16:57.65 They help you manage your debt for free. 00:16:57.75\00:16:59.51 They help you to make sure you purchase or 00:16:59.55\00:17:01.92 have the right response for purchasing your home for free. 00:17:01.95\00:17:05.65 They help you to make sure you don't buy that car 00:17:05.69\00:17:08.52 unless you have a good sound strategy 00:17:08.56\00:17:10.56 with paying it off for free. 00:17:10.59\00:17:12.43 All these services are free of charge. 00:17:12.46\00:17:14.26 Just in the city of Detroit alone I can name many. 00:17:14.30\00:17:17.20 Operation HOPE, U-Snap-Bac, Jewish Vocational Service, 00:17:17.23\00:17:20.20 Southwest Solutions. 00:17:21.80\00:17:23.30 All these organizations that are providing 00:17:23.34\00:17:25.81 free services to individuals. 00:17:25.84\00:17:28.34 But do you know what the problem is? 00:17:28.44\00:17:29.91 They don't have enough bodies. 00:17:30.18\00:17:32.58 And all of them are saying the exact same thing. 00:17:33.01\00:17:35.08 "We want to serve more people." 00:17:35.12\00:17:37.29 But they can't say it publicly because their funders 00:17:37.32\00:17:39.49 won't continue to pay them. 00:17:39.52\00:17:40.86 So they all have the same problem. 00:17:40.92\00:17:42.62 So whenever the funders come in they say, 00:17:42.66\00:17:44.46 they give this rosy, "Yeah, we had this great..." 00:17:44.49\00:17:47.53 "This is awesome, this is great. We had a great quarter." 00:17:47.63\00:17:50.03 Because they want to keep the funding coming in. 00:17:50.07\00:17:51.93 And I can't begrudge them for that. 00:17:51.97\00:17:54.14 So what we have to do as a community is understand that 00:17:54.24\00:17:57.31 right down the street, right around the corner 00:17:57.34\00:17:59.17 there are organizations and resources that are available 00:17:59.21\00:18:01.98 to you that we have to pick up and lift on high 00:18:02.01\00:18:04.68 and embrace, and say, "We want to send more folks to them." 00:18:04.71\00:18:07.32 We have to be the mouthpieces of those greatest things 00:18:07.35\00:18:09.65 that God has blessed us within our communities. 00:18:09.68\00:18:11.82 We have to be the one. 00:18:11.85\00:18:13.19 You know, we have to stop waiting on our ship to come in. 00:18:13.22\00:18:15.59 It's not going to come in. 00:18:15.62\00:18:16.96 We have to learn how to swim out to it. 00:18:16.99\00:18:18.33 Or better yet, create our own ship. 00:18:18.36\00:18:20.50 You know, it's the victim that complains about the wind. 00:18:20.96\00:18:23.10 But the victor creates sails. 00:18:23.13\00:18:24.90 And so this is how we have to learn how to 00:18:25.10\00:18:27.30 create our own destiny. 00:18:27.34\00:18:28.67 Because God gave us all these tools already. 00:18:28.70\00:18:31.24 And if we just look around us, we'll see this Operation HOPE, 00:18:31.27\00:18:35.38 we'll see this United Way, we'll see this Goodwill 00:18:35.41\00:18:39.91 and Salvation Army that are doing good services, 00:18:39.95\00:18:41.98 expanding beyond just providing clothes for the communities. 00:18:42.02\00:18:44.79 But then we have to lift those up. 00:18:44.95\00:18:46.69 We just can't look at them and walk away and say, 00:18:46.72\00:18:48.42 "Yeah, well they'll be just fine." 00:18:48.46\00:18:49.79 No. Talk to them. 00:18:49.82\00:18:51.26 Ask them, "What do you need to be successful? 00:18:51.29\00:18:53.40 How can I bring more people? 00:18:53.43\00:18:54.76 Can we take my, can we pick my organization I'm a part of 00:18:54.80\00:18:58.10 and bring them down here and can we help 00:18:58.13\00:18:59.63 volunteer for you for a day?" 00:18:59.67\00:19:01.00 I always say that, especially around family, 00:19:01.07\00:19:03.51 our families are the most important valuable resource 00:19:03.91\00:19:06.27 that God has blessed us with. 00:19:06.31\00:19:07.64 So we've got to protect the family, protect that household 00:19:07.68\00:19:09.84 with our dearest lives. 00:19:09.88\00:19:12.31 Because that is the strength of our communities. 00:19:12.35\00:19:14.72 Within families we had this thing called, 00:19:14.98\00:19:16.75 the family empowerment program. 00:19:16.79\00:19:18.32 And within the family empowerment program 00:19:18.62\00:19:20.19 what we would do was essentially have those family members 00:19:20.22\00:19:23.76 to bring all their family members to come together 00:19:23.96\00:19:27.03 and just ask basic questions. 00:19:27.06\00:19:28.90 Who needs a job? 00:19:29.30\00:19:30.63 And some people would raise their hand. 00:19:31.07\00:19:32.40 Okay, you need a job? What type of job do you need? 00:19:32.43\00:19:34.74 And who can help this person get that job? 00:19:35.00\00:19:37.27 Who in here has started a business? 00:19:37.37\00:19:39.01 Oh, you started a business? 00:19:39.04\00:19:40.48 How can we help that business be successful? 00:19:40.51\00:19:42.64 Can you provide a job for this person? 00:19:42.68\00:19:44.35 How can we help that business make more money? 00:19:44.38\00:19:46.31 Who in here is going to school in the next 18 years? 00:19:46.35\00:19:49.25 Oh, can we create our own scholarship fund 00:19:49.28\00:19:51.15 and put our own 529 plans together for them? 00:19:51.19\00:19:53.42 All these are different basic questions 00:19:53.52\00:19:55.72 that we can use as a family. 00:19:55.76\00:19:57.09 And then I would always say, "You know what? 00:19:57.13\00:19:59.33 That family needs to adopt one of those resources 00:19:59.36\00:20:02.26 in the community that's doing good work." 00:20:02.30\00:20:04.10 And take those resources, put your arms around it, 00:20:04.47\00:20:06.74 and say, "We're going to help you for a least one day, 00:20:06.77\00:20:08.77 maybe two days a month." 00:20:08.80\00:20:10.34 A year rather. 00:20:10.54\00:20:12.17 And we're going to just bring all our people to just 00:20:12.27\00:20:14.58 volunteer and make sure all these resources are... 00:20:14.68\00:20:17.35 Because if they're doing good work helping people 00:20:17.45\00:20:19.08 be fiscally responsible, that's going to help your community, 00:20:19.11\00:20:22.02 that's going to help your property value. 00:20:22.05\00:20:23.65 That's going to help your whole community come together. 00:20:23.69\00:20:25.29 We can't come back unless there's some... 00:20:25.32\00:20:26.92 A real blessing when we come together in value and unity. 00:20:27.12\00:20:29.96 I remember many years ago, back about 40 years ago, 00:20:29.99\00:20:33.43 and I was terminated from my position 00:20:33.83\00:20:38.67 at one of the Detroit public schools. 00:20:38.70\00:20:40.37 I stopped by my parents' home and my father looked at me 00:20:40.77\00:20:45.14 and he was like, "You can't move back here?" 00:20:45.17\00:20:46.94 And my mother said, "What happened?" 00:20:47.51\00:20:49.21 And I said, "Well, I was working with my students 00:20:49.24\00:20:51.81 and I was helping them with their enunciation, 00:20:51.85\00:20:54.82 articulation, and diction." 00:20:54.85\00:20:56.79 Don't say, "Doo." Say, "Door." 00:20:56.92\00:20:59.39 Say, "That." 00:20:59.49\00:21:00.82 Put the final consonant in your words. 00:21:00.86\00:21:02.59 Well the principle, was Caucasian, walked in 00:21:02.69\00:21:06.13 and said, "We don't need them to learn all that. 00:21:06.23\00:21:09.13 Let them just... 00:21:09.26\00:21:10.60 They live here on the east side of Detroit, 00:21:10.63\00:21:12.50 let them just talk bad. 00:21:12.53\00:21:14.04 You know, we just want to do the number count 00:21:14.24\00:21:16.20 and get the amount of money from the state." 00:21:16.34\00:21:18.44 And I was like, "No, I'm going to teach my students 00:21:18.47\00:21:21.21 how to shake a hand, eye contact, 00:21:21.41\00:21:23.81 'Good morning, Miss Logan.' 00:21:23.91\00:21:25.51 'Good morning, Miss Logan.'" 00:21:25.55\00:21:26.88 So they reprimanded me, you know, three times, 00:21:27.02\00:21:29.85 and then they said, "We're terminating you." 00:21:29.88\00:21:31.65 Well, I took my program to Dr. Jefferson, 00:21:32.25\00:21:36.46 Detroit public schools. 00:21:36.49\00:21:37.93 And I had about 15 minutes to do my presentation. 00:21:37.96\00:21:41.93 I stood up and I asked twenty teachers, 00:21:42.30\00:21:45.17 "Give me the eight parts of speech." 00:21:45.20\00:21:47.07 And they were like, "Really?" 00:21:47.34\00:21:48.80 And I said, "Well, noun, pronoun, verb, adverb, 00:21:48.84\00:21:53.34 adjective stands alone, the three -tions; 00:21:53.38\00:21:55.84 conjunction, interjection, preposition." 00:21:55.88\00:21:58.51 They gave me a four million dollar contract. 00:21:58.95\00:22:01.78 Just like that. 00:22:02.02\00:22:03.35 Because you were blessed to get terminated. 00:22:03.39\00:22:04.72 - Come on now. - There you go. 00:22:04.75\00:22:06.09 You know, man's pink slip is God saying, 00:22:06.12\00:22:08.59 "I've got something for you." 00:22:08.62\00:22:10.09 So I started Kim Logan Communication. 00:22:10.76\00:22:13.96 And going to school to school, to school, 00:22:14.40\00:22:16.87 teaching young people how to speak, how to communicate. 00:22:17.07\00:22:19.50 Giving back. 00:22:19.53\00:22:20.87 They would use that Title I money to bring me in. 00:22:20.90\00:22:23.54 Started doing graduations. 00:22:23.87\00:22:25.67 Started doing, I wrote a program for them on oral communication. 00:22:25.71\00:22:30.51 Now, so one day I was sitting with my mom and dad, 00:22:30.75\00:22:34.02 and my dad and mom were watching sports. 00:22:34.05\00:22:36.18 And I told you earlier, don't care for the sports. 00:22:36.38\00:22:39.15 So my father said, "What don't you see during commercials?" 00:22:39.25\00:22:42.79 And I was like, "I don't understand. What?" 00:22:42.82\00:22:44.29 He said, "What don't you see?" 00:22:44.56\00:22:46.29 He said, "We're going to take Kim Logan 00:22:46.49\00:22:48.20 Communication to another level." 00:22:48.23\00:22:49.76 And he said, "You need to contact this player, 00:22:50.00\00:22:52.83 this player, this player. 00:22:52.87\00:22:54.20 You don't see black athletes commentating. 00:22:54.24\00:22:57.81 You're going to get black athletes ready for transition 00:22:57.91\00:23:01.01 out of sports and how to commentate." 00:23:01.04\00:23:04.81 So God gave me the vision. 00:23:05.31\00:23:07.12 So I contacted Willie Gault. 00:23:07.22\00:23:09.42 You know, I contacted Walt Frazier. 00:23:09.65\00:23:11.85 I contacted different athletes to talk with them, 00:23:11.89\00:23:16.59 "Would you be interested?" 00:23:16.69\00:23:18.16 And Walter Payton. 00:23:18.19\00:23:19.53 He was like, "Dr. Logan, this is amazing." 00:23:19.56\00:23:22.16 He said, "Because you don't see us in front of the camera 00:23:22.53\00:23:24.97 unless we're playing the ball." 00:23:25.00\00:23:26.63 I said, "Well, don't you want to have a future 00:23:26.94\00:23:29.84 investment for your family? 00:23:29.87\00:23:31.21 Use your gifts and talents." 00:23:31.24\00:23:32.87 And from that I built that entity. 00:23:33.11\00:23:35.74 Let's talk about what we see in the sports industry today. 00:23:36.24\00:23:40.95 They play ball, they're not using their money wisely. 00:23:41.68\00:23:45.42 We have athletes who are now in prison from 00:23:45.52\00:23:48.22 taking their own personal money to buy drugs, 00:23:48.42\00:23:51.63 and now they're in prison. 00:23:51.86\00:23:53.26 We just had an athlete who committed suicide 00:23:53.46\00:23:55.83 for killing someone. 00:23:56.53\00:23:58.03 And so he knew he would never get out, 00:23:58.07\00:24:00.34 so he took his life in prison. 00:24:00.37\00:24:01.90 So let's talk about what you have seen, because you've 00:24:02.04\00:24:04.37 worked with different entities. 00:24:04.41\00:24:06.78 I've worked with them. 00:24:06.81\00:24:08.34 And what do you see and what have you been challenged by? 00:24:08.44\00:24:12.21 Well the Word says, "Of what use is money in the hand of a fool 00:24:12.25\00:24:15.92 that they have no desire to obtain wisdom?" 00:24:15.95\00:24:18.25 So the bottom line is that anyone, you know... 00:24:18.75\00:24:22.56 And that's why most lottery winners go broke. 00:24:22.59\00:24:25.69 Because they're chasing money as opposed to chasing wisdom. 00:24:26.36\00:24:30.67 So no matter who you are talking to, if I give you 00:24:31.03\00:24:36.07 a million dollars, and someone's not educated, 00:24:36.10\00:24:39.01 or they're not wise on how to receive that, 00:24:39.04\00:24:41.51 they're going to lose that money, 00:24:41.74\00:24:43.08 they're going to squander that money. 00:24:43.11\00:24:44.45 They might do irresponsible things. 00:24:44.48\00:24:45.81 It's going to open up a whole world of Sodom and Gomorrah 00:24:45.85\00:24:48.65 that they've never seen before. 00:24:48.68\00:24:50.42 And all of a sudden they're going to have so many 00:24:50.52\00:24:51.85 temptations they're not going to be wise enough 00:24:51.89\00:24:53.39 to be able to navigate that field. 00:24:53.42\00:24:54.76 That's why God wants us to be wise. 00:24:54.79\00:24:56.99 So chase wisdom, don't chase money. 00:24:57.19\00:24:59.39 So when you talk about athletes, we're seeing all these young 00:24:59.43\00:25:03.33 children, basically. 00:25:03.87\00:25:05.20 They are. 00:25:05.23\00:25:06.57 And all of a sudden they've got this 00:25:06.60\00:25:08.00 multi-million dollar contract. 00:25:08.04\00:25:09.94 And they don't know how to navigate it. 00:25:10.37\00:25:12.64 And they've got all these people talking. 00:25:12.74\00:25:15.08 I've talked to athletes and they are talking to their accountant, 00:25:15.28\00:25:19.31 and they say, "Yes, you know, every time I meet with him 00:25:19.35\00:25:22.32 I pay 30 or 40 thousand dollars a year." 00:25:22.35\00:25:25.02 I'm like, "Why are you meeting that many times with him 00:25:25.49\00:25:28.32 and why are you paying that much money?" 00:25:28.36\00:25:29.86 "Well, it's his fees. I don't know." 00:25:29.89\00:25:31.69 So they just don't know. They don't know. 00:25:31.83\00:25:34.50 They don't have, you know, "in abundance of 00:25:34.60\00:25:37.37 counselors there is victory." 00:25:37.40\00:25:38.73 The Word says that, right? 00:25:38.77\00:25:40.10 So we have to create an abundance of counselors 00:25:40.14\00:25:42.57 around us, people who are God fearing counselors. 00:25:42.60\00:25:45.44 People who understand that, "Yes, we want to protect you 00:25:45.64\00:25:48.34 because we understand the value that God has in you." 00:25:48.38\00:25:51.25 And it hurts my heart to see or hear about athletes 00:25:51.48\00:25:55.98 who end up in prison or they end up having these wrong decisions. 00:25:56.02\00:25:59.39 Because there are so many blessings that are 00:25:59.59\00:26:01.89 inside of them that they could be giving people. 00:26:01.92\00:26:04.23 And when I hear about positive stories, you know, 00:26:04.33\00:26:06.96 individuals like LeBron James who blesses so many people. 00:26:07.00\00:26:10.90 You know, a good buddy of mine, Allan Houston, 00:26:11.03\00:26:13.34 who starts foundations and creates things. 00:26:13.44\00:26:16.00 Magic Johnson who starts businesses 00:26:16.04\00:26:18.44 and helps others folks start their own businesses 00:26:18.47\00:26:20.48 and franchises. 00:26:20.51\00:26:21.84 I mean, their blessings can be so bountiful for other people. 00:26:21.88\00:26:27.45 And it almost really robs them because they want to take it, 00:26:27.48\00:26:30.62 they want to squander it. 00:26:30.65\00:26:31.99 And I mean, the amount of money that many athletes who 00:26:32.15\00:26:35.42 don't even make it but two or three years in the league, 00:26:35.46\00:26:38.03 it's more money than some individuals 00:26:38.06\00:26:39.63 make in an entire lifetime. 00:26:39.66\00:26:41.26 So you don't even have to be a Robert Parish 00:26:41.70\00:26:43.70 to make it to 40 something years old in the league. 00:26:43.73\00:26:46.17 You can just be in there a couple of years 00:26:46.27\00:26:48.00 and you could have had dollar value, 00:26:48.04\00:26:49.67 blessings, that you could have created for other individuals. 00:26:49.90\00:26:52.31 So what we have to do is, again, whether you an athlete 00:26:52.34\00:26:55.18 making millions of dollars or whether you're somebody who 00:26:55.21\00:26:57.88 just got a windfall of money, or somebody that, again, 00:26:57.91\00:27:00.92 we want to talk to those folks doing scratch offs 00:27:00.95\00:27:03.49 in the lotto line in the stores hoping that they 00:27:03.52\00:27:05.62 can just make it big. 00:27:05.65\00:27:06.99 Say, "No, no, no, no. You know what? 00:27:07.02\00:27:08.36 God is not going to bless you on the other side of 00:27:08.72\00:27:10.56 that scratch off ticket. 00:27:10.59\00:27:11.96 He's already blessed you. 00:27:12.06\00:27:13.40 And all you've got to do is go down to that local 00:27:13.46\00:27:15.33 community college and figure out and use that knowledge 00:27:15.36\00:27:18.57 and train yourself and use the blessings of God 00:27:18.87\00:27:21.00 to do something that enhances the blessings 00:27:21.04\00:27:22.90 that God already has. 00:27:22.94\00:27:24.27 Because God has already given us a lotto ticket. 00:27:24.31\00:27:25.87 - It's called Jesus Christ. - Jesus Christ. 00:27:26.07\00:27:28.71 And so I'm going to use Jesus Christ. 00:27:28.74\00:27:30.51 And say, "Thank You, Jesus, for all the stuff You've given me. 00:27:30.71\00:27:33.68 And I'm going to just thank You for Your grace, 00:27:33.85\00:27:35.98 and keep moving in that direction." 00:27:36.02\00:27:37.75 So we don't have to ask for anything else. 00:27:37.79\00:27:39.75 So again, I just... 00:27:39.79\00:27:41.12 It hurts me to see individuals squander money, 00:27:41.39\00:27:43.63 whether they're an athlete or whatever. 00:27:43.66\00:27:46.76 Well Ryan, I tell you, time has gotten away from us. 00:27:47.10\00:27:49.96 And I truly appreciate all the knowledge I have gained. 00:27:50.00\00:27:53.74 I'm going to be in touch with you because there are 00:27:53.77\00:27:56.47 some things I need to improve on. 00:27:56.50\00:27:59.31 And we need to support one another. 00:27:59.41\00:28:01.88 I want to thank God for your wisdom, your knowledge, 00:28:01.98\00:28:04.61 and I ask that the Lord will continue to bless you 00:28:04.65\00:28:07.05 to live to be well. 00:28:07.08\00:28:08.42 I just want to say, thank you for your work. 00:28:08.45\00:28:09.78 And keep up the good work as always. 00:28:09.82\00:28:11.42 And you are a blessing to many people. 00:28:11.45\00:28:12.89 Thank you so much, Ryan. 00:28:12.92\00:28:14.26 Well listen, remember, there is wisdom 00:28:14.42\00:28:16.83 within the book of Proverbs to handle your finances. 00:28:17.03\00:28:20.03 And remember, above all things God want you to 00:28:20.13\00:28:22.56 prosper and be in good health. 00:28:22.60\00:28:24.07 I'm Dr. Kim. 00:28:24.17\00:28:25.50 Live to be well in your finances. 00:28:25.53\00:28:28.54 God bless. 00:28:28.57\00:28:29.90
