unique and beautiful features

that run along the
canyon walls for miles.

These layers are made up
of sandstone and limestone,

and that's what creates
that rainbow in the rocks.

It's one of the things
that makes the Grand Canyon

so awesome to look at.

But not only these layers
unique to the Grand Canyon,

they give us our greatest clue
on how the canyon was formed.

The rock layers that we
see everywhere on the Earth

are generally in layers.

The sedimentary rocks

are almost all
deposited by water.

We see the rock layers

consist of
turbidites washed in material

and with a catastrophism

that was going on
would have turbiditic action

and the washing in of material.

So water brings mud or
sand, or even coarser materials,

carries it and
deposits it in a layer.

That's typically how the rocks
in the geologic column form.

And then there are
different kinds of sediments,

so they end up making rocks

that look very different
right on top of each other.

But there is a question
of this one layer formed

and then how much time passed

layer came on top of it.

The commonly held belief is
that over millions of years,

an ocean advanced
over the entire continent

and deposited a
sedimentary layer,

and then we treated leaving
the ground dry once again.

In this dry period lasting
tens of millions of years,

the sediment
would have been exposed

to weathering and erosion.

And if it just sits there

without being
covered up fairly quickly,

then a lot of things
happen, plants grow on it,

roots go down through it,
animals burrow through it,

And so it doesn't
just stay undisturbed.

Tens of millions of
years of weathering and erosion

would create an enormous
amount of uneven terrain

between these two layers
such as hills and valleys.

But this is not what we see.

There's a little
variation between these layers.

They're extremely flat.

And these time spans
are supposedly occurred

between two layers, it
can be 10 million years,

they can be up to

like you see at one

You'd expect a
whole lot of erosion,

and in fact, so much erosion,

that the whole record
should be gone a long time ago.

Average rates of erosion

millimeters per thousand years.

With the same rate of erosion

rapidly in quick succession.

So is it realistic to think
that 150 million years passed

It was not eroded out

that there wasn't that time

The weather is always changing,

and the surface of the Earth
is always changing with it.

Thunderstorms, floods,
hurricanes, earthquakes,

The entire surface of the Earth

water-based catastrophe.

And this overwhelming evidence
can't be erased or removed.

So in the minds of those
that rejected the flood story,

it needed to be reinterpreted,
and this is how it happened.

All during the Middle Ages,

some factors in
society were very autocratic,

making life very hard
for people suppressing them.

And what were those
agencies who were doing that?

Well, it was
governments and the church.

One of the greatest
things that man wants to have

over man is power.

In the Middle Ages,
the church ruled the world.

Seeing the abusive power
that had prevailed over Europe,

they utterly
rejected the Catholic Church,
00:06:00.16\00:06:02.76
which of course, in their mind
00:06:02.79\00:06:05.09
meant that they
utterly rejected Christianity.
00:06:05.13\00:06:08.20
And so that gave rise to a
more atheistic-minded society.

And the mindset of man says,

"Well, what was
this restricting force?"

The restricting force

to any mind expansion was God.

And therefore,
let's get rid of Him.

Let's get rid of God so
that we can grow intellectually,

and that's what they did
in the French Revolution.

Instead of holding the masses

in blind
submission toward dogmas,

Rome's work
resulted in making them

infidels and revolutionists.

They regarded
her greed and cruelty

as the fruit of the Bible,

and they would have none of it.

Rome had misrepresented
the character of God.

And now men rejected
both the Bible and its author.

This led to the
French Revolution.

And ultimately,

the complete removal
of the churches power,

it had
maintained over the people

for more than 1,000 years.

In the French National Assembly,

the mob of revolutionaries
declared only reason

should be worshiped.

They revealed a beautiful
woman adorned in blue drapery

and proclaimed her
the Goddess of Reason.

And they enshrined

the Goddess of Reason.
00:07:23.00\00:07:26.54
And reason took the
place of faith in God.

They carried this
woman on a car to Notre-Dame,

destroyed the
church and preached atheism

to the masses inside
the church every week.

The French people
responded to the many centuries

of Roman Catholic
oppression and persecution
00:07:43.59\00:07:46.26
by establishing a
new form of government.

Instead of a nation
with a Christian worldview,

how be it perverted and ruled
00:07:50.90\00:07:52.23
by the Catholic
Church at the time,

the society was formed
with an atheistic worldview,

absent of any
Christian influence,

and this was called
The Age of Enlightenment.

The Bible tells us,

Noah was a
preacher of righteousness,

and the gospel reveals
the righteousness of God,

which simply means that
Noah was preaching the gospel.

It also means
that at the end of time

when the first angel is seen

proclaiming the
everlasting gospel

that this angel is
repeating the message

world before the flood.

And because we are again
living in the judgment hour,

In other words, when
the gospel is preached,

the gospel divides
human beings into two groups,

those who accept
and those who reject.

And so the message of
Noah was a message of judgment

because when he
finished preaching His message,

how many groups were there?

There were two groups
when He finished preaching,

those that were inside
and those that were outside.

When the message at the
end of time is finished,

the world will be
divided into two groups.

is a warning for us today.

The gospel message

When we look at the word ark,

shelter or refuge.

So the principle behind

was the invitation to
enter into a place of refuge.

So what is the place of
refuge for God's people today?

look at the word ark,

the Oxford dictionary

as a vessel or a sanctuary.

Interestingly,
the word sanctuary

is also defined
as a place of refuge.

So an ark and a
sanctuary are the same thing.

This is important
for us to understand

because God gave man a sanctuary

to be a place of refuge.

The everlasting
gospel proclaimed

by the first angel's message

Every component of the sanctuary

the sanctuary is
pointing us to the ark

for God's people

And the message has
the everlasting gospel.

I like that because
some people think the gospel

did not come until Jesus.

But the gospel really began

back at the fall
in the Garden of Eden.

It's always been
the gospel of trusting

in the sacrifice of the lamb.

And the entire message

of the everlasting
gospel and the final judgment

and the final choice is linked

In the Old Testament,

the entrance of the sanctuary.

This sacrifice pointed forward

to the sacrifice Jesus

and this is why Jesus
is called the Lamb of God.

Therefore, the gospel was
not first proclaimed by Jesus

when He came to Earth,

centuries earlier

through the sanctuary
service and its symbols.

Each article
finished in a sanctuary

symbolized a particular
aspect of the plan of salvation.

There's a lot of biblical truth

that is reflected in
those three dimensional symbols.

sanctuary really is,

step by step saves human beings

multitude stood before the ark

contemplating the final decision

that would seal their fate,

the valley of decision.

When He returns to
the Earth, Paul writes,

He will return
as a consuming fire

because Jesus will not only come

as the human being that He was
when He walked upon this Earth,

He will come as King of
kings and Lord of lords.

In other words, His
glory will no longer be veiled.

Overwhelmed with a vision
of Christ coming to Earth,

Isaiah wrote,

"Who among us shall
dwell with the devouring fire?

Who among the shall dwell
with everlasting burnings?"

And this is the
question we're each faced with

as we prepare to dwell
00:15:17.05\00:15:18.38
in the consuming fire
price presence that is coming.
00:15:18.41\00:15:21.48
But after Isaiah asked,
00:15:21.52\00:15:22.88
"Who can dwell with
the devouring fire?"
00:15:22.92\00:15:24.89
He answered His
question and says,

"He that walketh righteously."

Only the righteous can safely
dwell in the presence of God.

This means the message
Noah gave to prepare our people

for the judgment
of the world by water,

it's the same message
that will prepare people
00:15:37.90\00:15:39.87
for the judgment
of the world by fire

because Noah was a
preacher of righteousness.

The rainbow of the
everlasting covenant

is just as much a
promise of mercy to preserve us

destruction of the world by fire

through the destruction

If a person's ever
been out on the ocean

Yet, Noah was preserved

in the midst of this
incredible tribulation.

And the confidence

through that reminds
us that He can preserve us

storm that's coming.

seventh plague is falling
