The church service today was done completely by the inmates. 00:00:01.06\00:00:04.96 Pope Benedict XVI is calling for a New World Financial Order. 00:00:04.99\00:00:10.41 One, the boat will carry everything that we order. 00:00:10.44\00:00:14.06 Literally this need is gathered in the season. 00:00:18.74\00:00:20.85 And release some radioactive-- 00:00:20.88\00:00:23.61 God wants to signal us, 00:00:23.64\00:00:25.13 send the signal to us if we're watching. 00:00:25.16\00:00:29.07 Welcome to Laymen Ministry News, I'm Jeff Reich. 00:00:29.10\00:00:32.30 This is the first of a series of new news programs. 00:00:32.33\00:00:35.19 The name Laymen Ministry News is significant. 00:00:35.22\00:00:37.87 As Laymen Ministry started back in the mid '1980s 00:00:37.90\00:00:40.58 as a lay organization that was created as a ministry 00:00:40.61\00:00:44.09 to help motivate and educate lay people 00:00:44.12\00:00:46.47 to be involved with ministry. 00:00:46.50\00:00:48.41 Our first publication was a newsletter, 00:00:48.44\00:00:50.82 so you can guess what the title of the newsletter was? 00:00:50.85\00:00:53.15 Yes, that's right, Laymen Ministry News. 00:00:53.18\00:00:56.29 Now nearly 30 years later, it seemed only appropriate 00:00:56.32\00:00:59.54 to name a TV news program Laymen Ministry News. 00:00:59.57\00:01:03.50 Right now Europe or what is now knows as the European Union. 00:01:08.20\00:01:11.59 There is a growing movement towards making 00:01:11.62\00:01:13.43 Sunday as the official day of rest. 00:01:13.46\00:01:16.75 This is being pushed by an organization called 00:01:16.78\00:01:18.73 the European Sunday Alliance which was formed June 2011. 00:01:18.76\00:01:23.09 It was made up of a network 00:01:23.12\00:01:24.83 consisting of various organizations 00:01:24.86\00:01:26.95 such as trade unions, 00:01:26.98\00:01:28.76 civil society organizations and religious communities. 00:01:28.79\00:01:33.11 These organizations are committed to make "Sunday" 00:01:33.14\00:01:36.95 the synchronized free time for European societies. 00:01:36.98\00:01:40.39 Their founding statement in European Sunday Alliance says, 00:01:40.42\00:01:43.87 "Only a well-protected common work-free day per week 00:01:43.90\00:01:48.34 enables citizens to enjoy full participation in cultural, 00:01:48.37\00:01:52.24 sports, social and religious life, 00:01:52.27\00:01:55.35 to seek cultural enrichment and spiritual well-being 00:01:55.38\00:01:58.95 and to engage in voluntary work and association of activities. 00:01:58.98\00:02:03.46 Without this day, all these forms of social interaction 00:02:03.49\00:02:06.96 and pastime would be endangered." 00:02:06.99\00:02:08.96 The alliance also states in its resolution that it urges 00:02:08.99\00:02:13.25 the European Institutions to safeguard Sunday, 00:02:13.28\00:02:16.18 in principle, as a common weekly rest day in the EU 00:02:16.21\00:02:21.40 and calls upon the Governments of the Member States 00:02:21.43\00:02:24.99 to take their responsibility for improving, 00:02:25.02\00:02:28.03 implementing and enforcing 00:02:28.06\00:02:30.60 existing legislation and practices. 00:02:30.63\00:02:33.54 On their official website they state, today, 00:02:33.57\00:02:36.42 legislation and practices now in place at EU 00:02:36.45\00:02:39.72 and Member States levels 00:02:39.75\00:02:41.36 need to be more protective of the health, 00:02:41.39\00:02:44.13 safety, and dignity of everyone 00:02:44.16\00:02:46.51 and should more assertively promote 00:02:46.54\00:02:48.64 the reconciliation of professional and family life. 00:02:48.67\00:02:52.38 We believe that social cohesion 00:02:52.41\00:02:54.63 in the European citizenship should be reinforced. 00:02:54.66\00:02:59.07 They are using the angle of the need of the family, 00:02:59.10\00:03:02.02 human rights and the economy as stratagem 00:03:02.05\00:03:04.63 to try to get this legislation passed. 00:03:04.66\00:03:07.52 Recently on a BBC program filmed in England 00:03:07.55\00:03:10.11 entitled "The Big Question." 00:03:10.14\00:03:11.65 I don't know if you have seen this on BBC or not 00:03:11.68\00:03:13.80 but this program deals-- 00:03:13.83\00:03:16.33 they had one particular program not too long ago 00:03:16.36\00:03:18.35 that dealt with the Sunday Law moment in Europe. 00:03:18.38\00:03:21.65 One question that was under debate on that program was 00:03:21.68\00:03:24.66 "Should the Sabbath be a day of rest?" 00:03:24.69\00:03:27.29 It's important to know that 00:03:27.32\00:03:28.49 when they referred to the Sabbath here, 00:03:28.52\00:03:29.99 they are talking about Sunday. 00:03:30.02\00:03:31.78 In fact I appreciated when one German participant 00:03:31.81\00:03:34.42 on the program said when he cleared up this point. 00:03:34.45\00:03:37.75 "Should the Sabbath be a day of rest?" 00:03:37.78\00:03:40.54 Well, actually the Sabbath is a Jewish festival, 00:03:40.57\00:03:43.05 not a religious festival and secondly if it was-- 00:03:43.08\00:03:46.71 Oh, oh, I'm sorry. I wish it were. 00:03:46.74\00:03:51.27 We had a cacophony of disagreement over here 00:03:51.30\00:03:53.43 from our friends in the dark color. 00:03:53.46\00:03:55.66 As a Christian, the Christian church has adopted 00:03:55.69\00:03:59.68 Sunday as their Sabbath, 00:03:59.71\00:04:01.43 but it's actually a Jewish festival. 00:04:01.46\00:04:03.03 I should be able to tell this program pull together 00:04:03.06\00:04:05.32 people of various faiths as well as secular voices 00:04:05.35\00:04:09.01 to discuss the concept of a Sunday rest day. 00:04:09.04\00:04:12.13 If we're going to, as a country and as individuals, 00:04:12.16\00:04:15.60 if we can say, actually it's our relationships 00:04:15.63\00:04:18.34 that are most important to us as a community 00:04:18.37\00:04:21.03 and not just economics, it's not just economics, 00:04:21.06\00:04:23.46 we can both end but we have to have some priorities, 00:04:23.49\00:04:26.40 then I suggest that we have to make one day 00:04:26.43\00:04:29.79 in the week give priority to relationships. 00:04:29.82\00:04:32.19 You got a bug there-- Otherwise-- 00:04:32.22\00:04:33.99 Otherwise what will happen is 00:04:34.02\00:04:35.65 that commercial pressures will run over us. 00:04:35.68\00:04:38.62 You can see how this idea of family and the economy 00:04:38.65\00:04:41.33 is being woven into this philosophy of a rest day idea. 00:04:41.36\00:04:45.12 It was interesting to hear the comments made by 00:04:45.15\00:04:47.16 Alex Goldberg of the London Jewish Forum. 00:04:47.19\00:04:50.20 It seems some Jews are kind of soft pedaling 00:04:50.23\00:04:52.45 their Seventh-day Sabbath idea 00:04:52.48\00:04:54.34 and leaning towards this idea that 00:04:54.37\00:04:56.00 "What day we keep is not that important 00:04:56.03\00:04:59.27 as it is spending time with the family 00:04:59.30\00:05:00.97 on any designated day." 00:05:01.00\00:05:02.58 Look, I'm a Sabbath observant Jew 00:05:02.61\00:05:04.78 which means I've got very huge stretches what I can't-- 00:05:04.81\00:05:07.72 I couldn't even get in a motor car on a Sunday. 00:05:07.75\00:05:09.89 And I've worked, also I'm now 00:05:09.92\00:05:11.27 Chief Executive of the London Jewish Forum, 00:05:11.30\00:05:12.65 I've worked in mainstream environments 00:05:12.68\00:05:15.04 where my colleagues were Muslim and Christian 00:05:15.07\00:05:17.33 and secularism or whatever. 00:05:17.36\00:05:19.13 And people respect to the fact that I had to honor time 00:05:19.16\00:05:22.88 from sunset on Friday to dusk down Saturday. 00:05:22.91\00:05:26.16 With Saturday, Sunday, 00:05:26.19\00:05:27.22 I'm not against the Jewish Christian debate on that. 00:05:27.25\00:05:29.64 And I know exactly where it comes, 00:05:29.67\00:05:30.87 but choose your day it could be a Friday 00:05:30.90\00:05:32.81 or Saturday or Sunday, whatever is-- 00:05:32.84\00:05:34.26 Everybody needs the same day off because otherwise-- 00:05:34.29\00:05:37.06 well, because, because, because-- 00:05:37.09\00:05:41.63 I will choose my own time. 00:05:41.66\00:05:43.13 Please allow me to finish my sentence. 00:05:43.16\00:05:44.74 He needs a day off. He does. 00:05:44.77\00:05:47.23 You're already telling me what to do. 00:05:47.26\00:05:48.68 No, because if I have Wednesday off 00:05:48.71\00:05:51.48 my children are not at home, my friends are at work, 00:05:51.51\00:05:55.39 I can't have community, I can't meet with my relatives, 00:05:55.42\00:05:58.36 I can't spend time with my kids or my spouse. 00:05:58.39\00:06:01.39 If we're all having different days of the week off. 00:06:01.42\00:06:03.91 This movement towards Sunday rest 00:06:03.94\00:06:05.69 is effecting the country of Israel as well, 00:06:05.72\00:06:08.03 with its longstanding history of keeping the Seventh-day Sabbath. 00:06:08.06\00:06:11.51 I've here a paper, a newsletter actually called 00:06:11.54\00:06:14.16 the Maoz Israel Report. 00:06:14.19\00:06:16.21 This is from August of 2011. 00:06:16.24\00:06:19.07 And it says, "Should Sunday become 00:06:19.10\00:06:20.99 a day of rest for Israelis?" 00:06:21.02\00:06:22.87 Now this is extremely interesting. 00:06:22.90\00:06:24.65 And this article goes on, "Israel looks for a solution." 00:06:24.68\00:06:28.13 All Israeli businesses with international dealings" 00:06:28.16\00:06:31.23 and this is what it goes on to say, 00:06:31.26\00:06:33.12 "have the exact same situation. 00:06:33.15\00:06:36.60 A dramatic example of the world's stock markets 00:06:36.63\00:06:39.06 and financial institutes which conduct businesses on Friday 00:06:39.09\00:06:42.41 while Israel's stock market is closed. 00:06:42.44\00:06:44.54 Then on Sunday, when Israel is in full swing, 00:06:44.57\00:06:46.75 most of the world is shut down. 00:06:46.78\00:06:49.48 The Israeli parliament is very aware of this problem 00:06:49.51\00:06:52.84 and a movement within the Knesset is growing 00:06:52.87\00:06:55.82 to legislate Sunday as a day of rest in Israel." 00:06:55.85\00:06:59.63 And then it goes on to say, 00:06:59.66\00:07:00.69 "Having Sundays off is inevitable for Israel. 00:07:00.72\00:07:04.04 Demographic and economic realities 00:07:04.07\00:07:06.11 make the change unavoidable." 00:07:06.14\00:07:09.72 This is a little bit reminiscent of what happened 00:07:09.75\00:07:12.18 during the third century under Constantine 00:07:12.21\00:07:15.02 because there was this separation has started happening 00:07:15.05\00:07:18.44 between the early Christians who came from Judaism 00:07:18.47\00:07:21.96 that accepted The Ten Commandments 00:07:21.99\00:07:23.84 as a moral Decalogue 00:07:23.87\00:07:25.32 and kept the Seventh-day Sabbath and there were Christians 00:07:25.35\00:07:28.94 and that was a longstanding tradition for hundreds of years, 00:07:28.97\00:07:31.94 but Gentiles who had converted to Christianity 00:07:31.97\00:07:35.04 started to slowly adopt the Pagan Sunday 00:07:35.07\00:07:38.57 as a day of rest, for two reasons. 00:07:38.60\00:07:41.00 They wanted to distance themselves from the Jews, 00:07:41.03\00:07:43.39 because the Jews had a bad reputation 00:07:43.42\00:07:45.82 about what happened to the Messiah 00:07:45.85\00:07:48.16 and secondly that the Sabbath was such a day of bondage, 00:07:48.19\00:07:53.09 a day of dos and don'ts 00:07:53.12\00:07:54.89 that Sunday became more appealing for a day to go out 00:07:54.92\00:07:58.00 and be involved with sporting events, 00:07:58.03\00:07:59.70 to feast or gather with your friends 00:07:59.73\00:08:01.50 and to do things together 00:08:01.53\00:08:03.04 that you couldn't do on the Sabbath. 00:08:03.07\00:08:05.25 And so there was this shift that was starting 00:08:05.28\00:08:07.58 to take place amongst early Christians towards Sunday 00:08:07.61\00:08:10.80 which came totally from tradition 00:08:10.83\00:08:12.79 and not from a Biblical point of view. 00:08:12.82\00:08:15.61 And now we see the exact same thing happening with Israel. 00:08:15.64\00:08:19.93 You might be thinking, well, Jeff, 00:08:19.96\00:08:21.93 you seemed to be opposed to this idea? 00:08:21.96\00:08:24.09 What's the problem? 00:08:24.12\00:08:25.15 Don't you think that everyone would benefit 00:08:25.18\00:08:26.69 from having a day of rest? 00:08:26.72\00:08:28.38 Well, first of all I liked to say 00:08:28.41\00:08:29.44 that I'm in favor of keeping a rest day. 00:08:29.47\00:08:31.54 I keep the Seventh-day Sabbath every week myself. 00:08:31.57\00:08:34.18 I'm just not in favor of having the government 00:08:34.21\00:08:36.27 telling us what day that we should rest. 00:08:36.30\00:08:38.61 You see there's some complications with this. 00:08:38.64\00:08:40.29 For instance, let's say that we have 00:08:40.32\00:08:42.41 a Monday through Saturday workweek 00:08:42.44\00:08:45.12 and Sunday is legislated by the government as our day off. 00:08:45.15\00:08:48.94 What happens to those people who want to keep a different day 00:08:48.97\00:08:51.47 because of their conscience, because of their convictions, 00:08:51.50\00:08:53.87 another day holy as a rest day. 00:08:53.90\00:08:57.10 Are they gonna be all of a sudden 00:08:57.13\00:08:58.69 under pressure of course 00:08:58.72\00:08:59.94 because there's this established workweek 00:08:59.97\00:09:01.91 from Monday to Saturday that in order to keep their jobs 00:09:01.94\00:09:04.97 they have to work on Saturday 00:09:05.00\00:09:06.36 and the employer is gonna say something like, 00:09:06.39\00:09:08.34 well, you know, you have Sunday 00:09:08.37\00:09:10.04 that's why the government has given us Sundays off. 00:09:10.07\00:09:12.39 You can take Sunday off like everybody else 00:09:12.42\00:09:14.85 and then they have to go against 00:09:14.88\00:09:16.30 their convictions and their conscience, 00:09:16.33\00:09:18.71 just because there's this established 00:09:18.74\00:09:20.36 work weakness made by the government. 00:09:20.39\00:09:22.67 Does the state have the right to dictate to us 00:09:22.70\00:09:25.56 what day we should rest? 00:09:25.59\00:09:27.43 Then they are gonna have to come up with an idea 00:09:27.46\00:09:29.34 of what constitutes work 00:09:29.37\00:09:31.55 and then they are gonna have to make laws as saying, 00:09:31.58\00:09:33.34 well, you can do this kind of work, 00:09:33.37\00:09:34.64 but you can't do that kind of work. 00:09:34.67\00:09:36.13 And what does it really mean to rest on Sunday? 00:09:36.16\00:09:38.52 You can go to sporting events, 00:09:38.55\00:09:40.15 but you can't fix the fence at your house 00:09:40.18\00:09:42.20 or paint your house on a Sunday. 00:09:42.23\00:09:43.99 And all of this starts to open up a whole bag of worms 00:09:44.02\00:09:47.47 as far as how to legislate and enforce a Sunday rest day. 00:09:47.50\00:09:52.23 And I ask myself 00:09:52.26\00:09:53.38 "could this really even happen in secular Europe?" 00:09:53.41\00:09:56.13 And if so is America next? 00:09:56.16\00:09:58.13 Well, America has a longstanding tradition 00:09:58.16\00:10:01.16 of Sunday Closing Laws. 00:10:01.19\00:10:02.89 And I have before me right here a book called 00:10:02.92\00:10:04.82 "Religious Liberty in America." 00:10:04.85\00:10:06.28 This book was published in 1914. 00:10:06.31\00:10:08.25 It's a gathering of essays dealing with the principles 00:10:08.28\00:10:11.63 of separation of church and state 00:10:11.66\00:10:13.48 and religious liberty issues that took place here 00:10:13.51\00:10:16.06 in the early centuries of the United States. 00:10:16.09\00:10:18.38 Now in the early days before America declared 00:10:18.41\00:10:23.11 its independence from British rule, 00:10:23.14\00:10:25.11 we were considered to be colonies 00:10:25.14\00:10:26.70 and one colony was referred to as the Colony of Virginia. 00:10:26.73\00:10:30.86 In chapter 6 of this book it says, 00:10:30.89\00:10:33.94 "Conscience Outlawed in Virginia." 00:10:33.97\00:10:35.69 Now I like to give you just kind of an example of what happens 00:10:35.72\00:10:37.98 when you start to try to legislate a day of rest. 00:10:38.01\00:10:41.26 If you did not, go to religious services 00:10:41.29\00:10:43.20 on the Sabbath which was Sunday. 00:10:43.23\00:10:45.53 The first offense was whipping, 00:10:45.56\00:10:47.43 the second offense was stoppage of allowance 00:10:47.46\00:10:49.60 which was financial support 00:10:49.63\00:10:51.38 and the third was the galleys for six months. 00:10:51.41\00:10:55.29 But I found this one particular law 00:10:55.32\00:10:56.89 interesting for Sabbath breaking. 00:10:56.92\00:10:58.56 You know, having a Sunday legislated law. 00:10:58.59\00:11:01.29 "For Sabbath-breaking the first offense 00:11:01.32\00:11:03.42 was the stoppage of allowance." 00:11:03.45\00:11:04.75 They hit you in the pocketbook. 00:11:04.78\00:11:06.22 The second was a whipping and the third was death. 00:11:06.25\00:11:09.17 Well, you might say, well, Jeff, that was back in the 1600s', 00:11:09.20\00:11:12.64 you know, we're way beyond that now. 00:11:12.67\00:11:15.18 People were too intelligent, that would never happen again. 00:11:15.21\00:11:18.88 Well, I would like to differ with you 00:11:18.91\00:11:20.46 because as soon as the church gets involved with helping 00:11:20.49\00:11:23.55 and having the government legislate her degrees or dogmas, 00:11:23.58\00:11:26.64 her interpretation of scripture and her traditions, 00:11:26.67\00:11:29.98 history has proven that the consequences 00:11:30.01\00:11:33.15 are some sort of persecution and punishment. 00:11:33.18\00:11:35.99 Evangelicals have this idea that the reason, 00:11:36.02\00:11:38.00 there's a separation of church and state 00:11:38.03\00:11:39.97 today in our government is to protect the church 00:11:40.00\00:11:43.07 from the evils of the government, 00:11:43.10\00:11:45.40 but that's not the case. 00:11:45.43\00:11:46.53 The founding fathers put together the Bill of Rights 00:11:46.56\00:11:49.37 and the Constitution to protect the government 00:11:49.40\00:11:52.89 from the evils of the church. 00:11:52.92\00:11:55.43 You know, in Romans 6:16 it says, 00:11:55.46\00:11:57.58 "Know ye not, to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, 00:11:57.61\00:12:01.85 his servants ye are to whom ye obey." 00:12:01.88\00:12:04.38 It's saying in another words, 00:12:04.41\00:12:05.44 whoever you give your allegiance too, 00:12:05.47\00:12:06.78 who you obey that is who you're servant to. 00:12:06.81\00:12:10.23 Where would such laws end up if they start legislating Sunday 00:12:10.26\00:12:13.81 saying that we have to rest upon that day. 00:12:13.84\00:12:16.13 Would I be forced to go against my conscience? 00:12:16.16\00:12:18.44 Would I yield myself to what the government says 00:12:18.47\00:12:22.01 and become a servant to the government? 00:12:22.04\00:12:23.78 Or would I yield my conscience 00:12:23.81\00:12:25.31 to that which is found in the scripture 00:12:25.34\00:12:27.37 upholding the Seventh-day Sabbath 00:12:27.40\00:12:29.06 and resting upon the day that God has decreed, 00:12:29.09\00:12:32.27 written in His own hand 00:12:32.30\00:12:33.33 in the Decalogue of the Ten Commandments, 00:12:33.36\00:12:35.33 part of that new covenant 00:12:35.36\00:12:36.39 that He is writing on our hearts and our minds. 00:12:36.42\00:12:39.82 And if this did come to this point, 00:12:39.85\00:12:42.24 if so, could it become a kind of like a sign of allegiance 00:12:42.27\00:12:46.50 to whom we honor the Bible or the tradition of men? 00:12:46.53\00:12:50.60 Could it establish an identifying mark of loyalty 00:12:50.63\00:12:54.55 to God versus loyalty to men? 00:12:54.58\00:12:59.08 Laymen Ministries bookstore carries hundreds of books, 00:12:59.11\00:13:02.07 Bibles, resource materials, 00:13:02.10\00:13:03.84 video taps and audio tapes, all at discounted prices. 00:13:03.87\00:13:08.30 To receive your free catalog, write or call Laymen Ministries, 00:13:08.33\00:13:12.72 414 Zapada Rd. Saint Maries, ID 83861. 00:13:12.75\00:13:18.71 Or call 1800-245-1844. 00:13:18.74\00:13:23.99 In Luke 21:11 it says, 00:13:24.02\00:13:26.50 "And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, 00:13:26.53\00:13:29.95 and famines, and pestilences, 00:13:29.98\00:13:31.91 and fearful sights and great signs 00:13:31.94\00:13:34.41 shall there be from heaven." 00:13:34.44\00:13:36.79 Maybe there are other signs more subtle 00:13:36.82\00:13:39.39 but yet frightening signs that are taking place right now 00:13:39.42\00:13:42.61 that God is sending us to help us to know 00:13:42.64\00:13:44.62 that this world is winding down 00:13:44.65\00:13:46.70 and that His soon coming is imminent. 00:13:46.73\00:13:49.03 Wildlife officials in Arkansas trying to solve two mysteries 00:13:49.06\00:13:51.91 that are getting a lot of attention this morning. 00:13:51.94\00:13:53.86 They involve the deaths of thousands of birds and fish. 00:13:53.89\00:13:57.28 A town blanketed by 5,000 black birds 00:13:57.31\00:14:01.25 appeared to have fallen out of the sky on New Year's Eve. 00:14:01.28\00:14:04.52 It is a mystery but it's also a reality. 00:14:04.55\00:14:07.37 Something very strange definitely happened here. 00:14:07.40\00:14:09.93 More than a thousand turtle doves 00:14:09.96\00:14:11.87 have dropped dead over the past five days 00:14:11.90\00:14:14.27 100,000 dead fish turned up on US shores. 00:14:14.30\00:14:17.21 Louisiana followed the suit and Europe ruffled some feathers 00:14:17.24\00:14:20.39 with mysterious avian deaths in Sweden. 00:14:20.42\00:14:23.06 Neighbors were shocked to find thousands of death herring 00:14:23.09\00:14:25.82 on this Vancouver Island Beach. 00:14:25.85\00:14:27.94 Fisheries officials are trying to figure out 00:14:27.97\00:14:29.73 what killed 900 kilos of fish. 00:14:29.76\00:14:32.06 It's Redondo Beach, California, 00:14:32.09\00:14:33.48 and we're told that they are estimating 00:14:33.51\00:14:35.40 these are thousands at least. 00:14:35.43\00:14:37.03 And maybe tens of thousands of dead fish 00:14:37.06\00:14:39.49 spotted at a Marina there. 00:14:39.52\00:14:40.55 Look at that you can't even see the water. 00:14:40.58\00:14:42.17 This is just a small sample of some of the freak events 00:14:42.20\00:14:44.37 that have been happening in the last two years, 00:14:44.40\00:14:46.45 many within the last few months. 00:14:46.48\00:14:48.21 Well, I like to share with you a Bible verse. 00:14:48.24\00:14:50.13 And this is kind of interesting twist 00:14:50.16\00:14:51.69 that you probably haven't heard before. 00:14:51.72\00:14:53.27 In Hosea 4:3. 00:14:53.30\00:14:55.11 Now listen to this text very carefully. 00:14:55.14\00:14:57.15 "Therefore shall the land mourn, 00:14:57.18\00:14:59.05 and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, 00:14:59.08\00:15:02.08 with the beasts of the field, the birds of the heavens, 00:15:02.11\00:15:06.03 and the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away." 00:15:06.06\00:15:09.83 Why? Well, look at verse 6. 00:15:09.86\00:15:12.13 "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge 00:15:12.16\00:15:14.51 because thou hast rejected knowledge, 00:15:14.54\00:15:17.38 I will also reject thee, 00:15:17.41\00:15:19.15 that thou shalt be no priest to me 00:15:19.18\00:15:21.39 seeing that thou hast forgotten the law of God." 00:15:21.42\00:15:24.90 So why have these calamities come? 00:15:24.93\00:15:27.13 Why are the fish and the birds falling from the sky? 00:15:27.16\00:15:30.36 It's because people have forgotten the knowledge 00:15:30.39\00:15:32.55 that God wants to give us found in His law. 00:15:32.58\00:15:35.38 You know, that's a fulfillment of the new covenant promise 00:15:35.41\00:15:38.04 that He shall write His law upon our hearts 00:15:38.07\00:15:39.87 and upon our minds that we shall be unto Him, 00:15:39.90\00:15:42.18 the people and He shall be to us a God. 00:15:42.21\00:15:44.16 It's not something that government can legislate. 00:15:44.19\00:15:46.64 I know there's people that have this idea that they think 00:15:46.67\00:15:48.76 that if we can just legislate God's law 00:15:48.79\00:15:51.65 that we can get people to conform 00:15:51.68\00:15:53.53 to the standard of righteousness, 00:15:53.56\00:15:55.45 but that really can't happen. 00:15:55.48\00:15:57.68 It comes from revival and reformation, 00:15:57.71\00:15:59.79 recognizing our need of having Christ as a personal Savior 00:15:59.82\00:16:03.56 and having Him personally by His spirit dwelling in our hearts 00:16:03.59\00:16:07.70 writing His heart, His law upon our hearts 00:16:07.73\00:16:09.86 and upon our minds and all these signs that we see today, 00:16:09.89\00:16:13.62 these are the signs of the times. 00:16:13.65\00:16:16.75 Laymen Ministries has been working in India since 1994 00:16:21.19\00:16:24.77 with national evangelism in connection 00:16:24.80\00:16:26.53 with Pastor Shadrach Samuel. 00:16:26.56\00:16:28.38 A few years ago I met Pastor Johnson 00:16:28.41\00:16:30.55 at a friend's house in Chennai, India. 00:16:30.58\00:16:33.24 While we were there, some church members 00:16:33.27\00:16:34.62 approached our ministry about starting 00:16:34.65\00:16:36.10 a television program in India. 00:16:36.13\00:16:38.38 Here's what Pastor Johnson remembers 00:16:38.41\00:16:39.92 about that "Historic Day." 00:16:39.95\00:16:42.60 It was a historical day for India, 00:16:42.63\00:16:45.86 pioneering of television program in India 00:16:45.89\00:16:49.17 through Laymen Ministry. 00:16:49.20\00:16:50.82 The program later became known as "Saving Hands." 00:16:50.85\00:16:53.50 In a short time this program's popularity took off 00:16:53.53\00:16:55.91 and now it's become a very key part 00:16:55.94\00:16:58.01 to Laymen Ministries Evangelistic efforts in India. 00:16:58.04\00:17:00.90 You see this is how it works. 00:17:00.93\00:17:02.40 Seeds are sown through television. 00:17:02.43\00:17:04.46 Our Bible workers do outreach by going door to door 00:17:04.49\00:17:07.27 and following up on contacts that come 00:17:07.30\00:17:09.43 from the television program 00:17:09.46\00:17:10.75 through the prayer hotline that we have. 00:17:10.78\00:17:12.95 And these contacts lead to Bible studies 00:17:12.98\00:17:15.45 and then finally evangelistic meetings. 00:17:15.48\00:17:17.65 People are baptized and then new churches are built. 00:17:17.68\00:17:21.25 It's not only a television, 00:17:21.28\00:17:24.50 but it is completely the package of evangelism. 00:17:24.53\00:17:29.38 Our programs are now in three different languages 00:17:29.41\00:17:31.97 on six different networks 00:17:32.00\00:17:33.48 seen from the Middle East to Australia. 00:17:33.51\00:17:36.00 One of the networks is called "Jaya Television." 00:17:36.03\00:17:37.85 It's a mainstream Hindu television network. 00:17:37.88\00:17:40.29 It has a viewing audience of 95 million people. 00:17:40.32\00:17:43.91 Our broadcast was seen over satellite television, 00:17:43.94\00:17:46.53 cable and even over the internet. 00:17:46.56\00:17:49.05 We would like to take you to India right now 00:17:49.08\00:17:50.66 to share with you our most current developments. 00:17:50.69\00:17:54.99 This is the property that Laymen Ministries just purchased, 00:17:55.02\00:17:57.11 it's just east of the city of Chennai. 00:17:57.14\00:17:58.83 It's in a nice rural area here. 00:17:58.86\00:18:01.02 We actually have this property completely paid for 00:18:01.05\00:18:03.15 and we had a dedication service last December 25 00:18:03.18\00:18:05.75 for this piece of property. 00:18:05.78\00:18:07.21 Now we're working with engineers 00:18:07.24\00:18:08.72 to actually get the building up and going. 00:18:08.75\00:18:11.01 And we have engineer who is visiting with us. 00:18:11.04\00:18:13.13 We chose this area but yet it's still a rural environment. 00:18:13.16\00:18:16.15 So it's quiet here. 00:18:16.18\00:18:17.26 There's a lot of farm land, you know, 00:18:17.29\00:18:18.59 animals and pasture land here. 00:18:18.62\00:18:20.59 So it's a nice place to have a training center 00:18:20.62\00:18:23.00 and have a place to, have a call center 00:18:23.03\00:18:24.98 for our TV ministry 00:18:25.01\00:18:26.69 and also to have a television studio 00:18:26.72\00:18:28.27 to produce our own television programs. 00:18:28.30\00:18:30.32 We've been working here for quite a number of years, 00:18:30.35\00:18:32.79 already we're well established on the networks here in India, 00:18:32.82\00:18:35.65 producing national language televisions programs. 00:18:35.68\00:18:38.23 And so having this facility here will give us the opportunity 00:18:38.26\00:18:41.25 to be able to produce our own programs 00:18:41.28\00:18:43.20 and then give them directly to the networks 00:18:43.23\00:18:44.62 without having to hire commercial places 00:18:44.65\00:18:47.68 to produce our programs. 00:18:47.71\00:18:49.06 Pastor Johnson also explains to us 00:18:49.09\00:18:50.79 some of the reasons why Laymen Ministry 00:18:50.82\00:18:52.49 purchased this property in this area. 00:18:52.52\00:18:55.08 And the reason why we have chosen is, number one, 00:18:55.11\00:19:00.14 it's an opportunity for evangelism. 00:19:00.17\00:19:03.55 Because in that area where we purchased the property, 00:19:03.58\00:19:07.87 there were 4,500 villages un-entered territory. 00:19:07.90\00:19:14.65 The second one is cost, 00:19:14.68\00:19:17.37 because in the city it is very expensive. 00:19:17.40\00:19:21.20 It's huge, that is we cannot. 00:19:21.23\00:19:24.11 So I think in my understanding 00:19:24.14\00:19:28.17 it is an opportunity for evangelism. 00:19:28.20\00:19:30.51 So we're moving and also the cost. 00:19:30.54\00:19:34.71 You see, owning our own production studio 00:19:34.74\00:19:36.75 will clear up some of the problems 00:19:36.78\00:19:38.07 we've been having in hiring commercial studios. 00:19:38.10\00:19:40.73 When we record our programs, things like now, 00:19:40.76\00:19:44.02 this is kind of sensitive but these are real issues 00:19:44.05\00:19:46.00 when it comes to producing television programs 00:19:46.03\00:19:48.27 for broadcast around the world on national television. 00:19:48.30\00:19:52.13 The studios would often cancel our shoot. 00:19:52.16\00:19:54.64 The pastors were in-depth coming to the studio to do the shoot, 00:19:54.67\00:19:57.32 just to be told we're sorry, you were cancelled today 00:19:57.35\00:20:00.55 or they would come and they would say, 00:20:00.58\00:20:02.01 oh, the schedule tapings have changed, 00:20:02.04\00:20:04.06 you are supposed to come on Wednesday 00:20:04.09\00:20:05.96 or sometimes they would over bill us on our taping cost 00:20:05.99\00:20:09.93 and then sometimes they were little bit 00:20:09.96\00:20:12.06 less than honest in the amount of studio hours that we used. 00:20:12.09\00:20:15.55 We currently have funding 00:20:15.58\00:20:16.61 for the new studio equipment for the building. 00:20:16.64\00:20:18.46 And we have some funds for starting 00:20:18.49\00:20:19.88 the actual building project itself. 00:20:19.91\00:20:22.10 But we're still around $60 to $70,000 short 00:20:22.13\00:20:24.80 for this particular building project. 00:20:24.83\00:20:26.78 Please pray with us about this special need 00:20:26.81\00:20:29.66 and this work in India. 00:20:29.69\00:20:31.99 Right now I would like to take you out 00:20:32.02\00:20:33.05 to the South Pacific To Vanuatu. 00:20:33.08\00:20:35.54 Mike and Becky Needles and family 00:20:35.57\00:20:37.29 arrived this last February to help 00:20:37.32\00:20:38.85 with our outreach program doing education 00:20:38.88\00:20:40.97 and medical missionary work. 00:20:41.00\00:20:42.35 We have also an aviation medical project going on there 00:20:42.38\00:20:45.58 with Dr. Turnbull and his wife Naomi, 00:20:45.61\00:20:47.74 who oversee this project. 00:20:47.77\00:20:49.63 Now Mike is a building contractor 00:20:49.66\00:20:51.58 and he will be focusing his work, 00:20:51.61\00:20:52.89 coordinating building projects with connection 00:20:52.92\00:20:55.07 with Laymen Ministries growth that's taking place 00:20:55.10\00:20:57.65 there in the Islands in Northern Vanuatu. 00:20:57.68\00:20:59.72 As well as helping to start a trade school 00:20:59.75\00:21:01.93 where he will teach practical building skills 00:21:01.96\00:21:03.96 to teach the students in our schools. 00:21:03.99\00:21:06.80 Mamburao, Philippines, graduation just took place 00:21:06.83\00:21:10.40 this last March from our forward credit elementary schools. 00:21:10.43\00:21:13.32 This last year we had 233 students 00:21:13.35\00:21:15.96 registered in our schools. 00:21:15.99\00:21:17.42 So we're building a new present truth academy 00:21:17.45\00:21:20.54 which will be a working academy 00:21:20.57\00:21:22.39 connected together with agriculture work. 00:21:22.42\00:21:25.33 We have 75 acres of land already paid for. 00:21:25.36\00:21:28.16 It's already got a nice road going into it. 00:21:28.19\00:21:30.32 It's all drained and ditched and we have a building site 00:21:30.35\00:21:33.09 that's been cleared out and we've just shipped 00:21:33.12\00:21:35.07 over four containers with equipments, 00:21:35.10\00:21:37.24 solar panels and all kinds of things 00:21:37.27\00:21:39.19 to help get the school started. 00:21:39.22\00:21:40.88 We recently put up a wind tower and solar panels. 00:21:40.91\00:21:44.23 This school will be off the grid 00:21:44.26\00:21:45.75 and will be generating also an electricity for the schools, 00:21:45.78\00:21:49.03 for the computers, for lighting, everything there. 00:21:49.06\00:21:51.14 Recently just in the last couple of weeks 00:21:51.17\00:21:53.52 a team came over from Switzerland 00:21:53.55\00:21:55.51 and started helping to do 00:21:55.54\00:21:57.17 the construction on these buildings. 00:21:57.20\00:21:58.80 They were digging the foundations 00:21:58.83\00:22:00.70 to lay the new buildings 00:22:00.73\00:22:02.97 and to help cut out some areas 00:22:03.00\00:22:04.80 that will be used for extensive gardening. 00:22:04.83\00:22:07.05 Right now in the Philippines we have an urgent need 00:22:07.08\00:22:09.52 for student missionaries for this next school year. 00:22:09.55\00:22:12.15 So if you know anybody that's interested 00:22:12.18\00:22:13.71 in getting involved with missions, 00:22:13.74\00:22:15.43 right now is the time to contact our ministry on our website. 00:22:15.46\00:22:19.41 Download a mission application and get involved 00:22:19.44\00:22:22.58 with helping the school in the Philippines. 00:22:22.61\00:22:25.48 Now it's time for our special feature. 00:22:31.04\00:22:33.04 This is the time where we share with you a human interest story. 00:22:33.07\00:22:36.03 Just recently Abegail Fearson returned from the Philippines 00:22:36.06\00:22:39.23 where she served as a missionary for Laymen Ministries. 00:22:39.26\00:22:42.45 In a recent interview she shared one of her experiences. 00:22:42.48\00:22:45.56 If the boat doesn't come, there's no food. 00:22:47.98\00:22:51.03 I spend a year in the Philippines, 00:22:56.14\00:22:58.84 in the middle of the jungle as a volunteer missionary. 00:22:58.87\00:23:03.55 There are only two sources of food there in the village 00:23:03.58\00:23:06.31 because it's so far away from everything. 00:23:06.34\00:23:09.37 One, the boat will carry everything 00:23:09.40\00:23:11.78 that we order via text. 00:23:11.81\00:23:13.82 Or two, the people in the village will give us 00:23:13.85\00:23:18.76 or sell to us what they have. 00:23:18.79\00:23:22.02 We were really dependent on the boat. 00:23:22.05\00:23:25.45 A typhoon had been in the area, one that had struck Australia 00:23:25.48\00:23:32.77 and because of this typhoon the waves 00:23:32.80\00:23:36.07 over near our village are really rough, really rough 00:23:36.10\00:23:40.98 and the boat wasn't able to come and bring food to us. 00:23:41.01\00:23:44.98 The first week went by, we're okay, we had enough food. 00:23:45.01\00:23:49.08 Second week went by, hey, we're still making it. 00:23:49.11\00:23:52.37 This is what we expected two weeks. 00:23:52.40\00:23:55.39 Now the third week wasn't so much fun. 00:23:55.42\00:23:58.61 The third week we had run out of everything, even rice. 00:23:58.64\00:24:05.47 And it was my week to cook. 00:24:05.50\00:24:08.21 I had to take care of four individuals including myself. 00:24:08.24\00:24:12.54 And I had no idea how I was gonna do it 00:24:12.57\00:24:15.24 because we literally had nothing. 00:24:15.27\00:24:22.06 I did the only thing I knew I could do. 00:24:22.09\00:24:24.73 I went down on my knees and I prayed. 00:24:24.76\00:24:26.63 I said Lord, I have no idea 00:24:26.66\00:24:30.91 how I'm gonna make it through this week 00:24:30.94\00:24:34.62 and I pray that you will provide for me 00:24:34.65\00:24:38.76 like You promised in Luke 12. 00:24:38.79\00:24:41.17 As soon as I got off my knees after pleading with the Lord, 00:24:44.82\00:24:51.02 I heard a voice at my front door. 00:24:51.05\00:24:53.58 Mom, mom Abby and I saw little girl, 00:24:53.61\00:24:56.83 she doesn't speak much English 00:24:56.86\00:24:58.04 but my students translated for me. 00:24:58.07\00:25:00.62 I have cassava to sell to you and I can tell you this, 00:25:00.65\00:25:05.78 there was not one day for that entire week 00:25:05.81\00:25:10.11 that any of us were not stuffed. 00:25:10.14\00:25:13.91 When I say the floodgates of heaven were open, 00:25:13.94\00:25:17.36 I don't mean we just ate. 00:25:17.39\00:25:18.69 Okay, I think I can do with this to survive and live comfortably. 00:25:18.72\00:25:22.78 No, we were almost stuffed each day. 00:25:22.81\00:25:27.35 My name is Abegail and my prayer was answered. 00:25:27.38\00:25:32.59 Abegail story is one of many who have gone overseas 00:25:32.62\00:25:34.82 to serve as a missionary with Laymen Ministries. 00:25:34.85\00:25:37.18 If you story 00:26:05.00\00:26:07.77 with you and ask for your comments. 00:26:07.80\00:26:10.29 Then in our next program we'll be reading 00:26:10.32\00:26:12.44 some of your comments on the air. 00:26:12.47\00:26:14.83 Now I don't know if you've heard about 00:26:14.86\00:26:16.28 what's going on in around the world 00:26:16.31\00:26:18.46 that this is kind of unusual, 00:26:18.49\00:26:20.07 people are hearing weird sounds 00:26:20.10\00:26:22.46 in very many different places around the world. 00:26:22.49\00:26:24.58 When I first started hearing about this I thought, 00:26:24.61\00:26:26.48 this is just a hoax, is it fakes. 00:26:26.51\00:26:28.45 Is this something like only the tabloids 00:26:28.48\00:26:30.25 will be reporting on. 00:26:30.28\00:26:31.60 I went to YouTube 00:26:31.63\00:26:32.69 and I listened to some of these sounds 00:26:32.72\00:26:33.87 and some of them were kind of scary, a little bit eerie. 00:26:33.90\00:26:36.51 And then I started looking around 00:26:36.54\00:26:38.15 and I noticed that there was enough people calling in 00:26:38.18\00:26:40.31 from hearing these sounds in various areas 00:26:40.34\00:26:42.59 that they were contacting their local newscasters 00:26:42.62\00:26:45.35 and they were actually being reported on the news. 00:26:45.38\00:26:48.14 What I like to do is share with you 00:26:48.17\00:26:50.09 a couple of news clips 00:26:50.12\00:26:51.84 and some actual footage of these strange 00:26:51.87\00:26:53.93 and mysterious sounds and see what you think. 00:26:53.96\00:26:56.56 This county have also received numerous calls 00:27:03.21\00:27:05.67 about a large boom and the ground shaking 00:27:05.70\00:27:08.33 just like some folks were describing out here. 00:27:08.36\00:27:13.07 Some strange noises heard around the world 00:27:13.10\00:27:14.88 in the last few weeks has people buzzing. 00:27:14.91\00:27:17.52 It sounds like a noise straight out a science fiction flick. 00:27:17.55\00:27:20.87 People around the world 00:27:20.90\00:27:22.04 and here at home have reported hearing some bizarre noises. 00:27:22.07\00:27:25.76 That right Baltic sound if we've ever heard one. 00:27:25.79\00:27:28.97 And what could that possibly be? 00:27:29.00\00:27:31.45 Somebody shut the door. 00:27:31.48\00:27:32.59 It sounds supernatural. 00:27:32.62\00:27:34.92 So what do you think these strange sounds might be? 00:27:34.95\00:27:37.71 We would like to hear from you. 00:27:37.74\00:27:39.15 You can email us at lmnstudio@gmail.com. 00:27:39.18\00:27:43.70 Or if you're
